My lovely wife and I decided to take a respite to Lake Geneva to celebrate the 10th anniversary of our engagement, and thanks to you Yelpers out there, we thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay at Seven Oaks. To sum it up in a single word, idyllic! The grounds, the friendly staff, the comfortable cottage, Grannie's Garden, wine and cheese greeting and the lovely morning breakfast delivered right to our front porch, all wonderful. The "21 and over" designation was music to our ears as we wanted a quiet, romantic get away, and that is exactly what we got. As we walked by other motels and resorts on our way to downtown Lake Geneva, we sure appreciated that we could return to quiet, lovely surroundings of Seven Oaks. One caution is that Seven Oaks is indeed a very short walk away from downtown but be advised that the walk back is mostly uphill! Our two day stay left us rejuvenated but wanting to remain longer, and our hopes are to return in the fall when the foliage and surroundings must be beautiful.
Hidden gem. Quiet, clean and safe. Just off the beaten path enough to make it quiet. Easy walk to lake & town. The family that owns the place live there and are super friendly and helpful. The room comes stocked with a welcome cheese plate & bottle of wine which was much appreciated.
Finally! I'm writing this review late in the game-but I was talking about B&B's and this place was at the top of my list! Quiet and secluded-but not too far away from the main strip. Heated floors in the bathroom!!!! It was summer when I was here-and let me tell you I still fell in love with the heated floors! Plush, comfy, warm, welcoming. The people who run this place are so nice and accommodating. I've included pictures-but I could have rocked on my chair and soaked in that huge tub forever and never leave my little home away from home. And the bath salts! I need to go back!

This is a charming place. When you enter, there are several small dining tables in the shape of an L, outlining a large wooden bar affront a chalk board with the specials of the evening and the text, "Yes, the music is loud. That's the way we like it. - Chef Greg". Chef Greg is the gregarious, bearded, bandana sporting chef that is toiling over your food with a furious expression on his face in the kitchen at the end of the bar. He almost looks like he's willing the food to be good with his mind. Watch him... you'll see. Anyway... We sit down... decent wine list. We ordered a Willamette Pinot, which is always an excellent choice. The server gave me a funny look. "How is it? Is that not the best choice?" I asked. He said, "well... it's a Willamette... but... you'll see." He brought our bottle, opened and poured it appropriately, and my whole body literally jerked at the first sip. "See..." the waiter said, and brought us a much better bottle, no questions asked. We spent a minute with the waiter discussing how a Willamette Valley Pinot Noir missed the mark, got stumped and ordered our dinner. Calamari appetizer.... I know what you're thinking. That's what the Clampetts would order at TGIFridays if they were fixin' for a nice supper. Wrongo. These were the largest calamari I've ever seen. The bodies were the size of my forefinger and middle finger combined. They were grilled perfectly. Excellent texture and taste. Even more impressive was the fact that they had the wherewithal to cook the bodies and the "tentacles" separately, since they cook at a different temp (if prepped together, one typically comes out overdone while the other is perfect... you get half a dish). So, the whole thing was perfect... the calamari was served on a bed of steamed spinach, a tomato based sauce with basil and something that tasted like a goat cheese paste... I can't remember. One way or the other, it was delish. Meals and sides come... My girlfriend had Trout and Lobster. The trout was superb, and the lobster was even better. Dipping this lobster in butter would have been a sin. It was perfect. I had the "Chef's Choice" or something like that. Chef Greg prepares a small portion of a bunch of different entrees. Again... incredible. a small sized piece of Breaded Perch (best fried fish I've ever had), a Mediterranean spare rib (ribs marinated in a lemon sauce... think "Greek Ribs"), 3 oz Filet Mignon, Chicken Breast with tzatziki sauce, a small lobster tail... I mean, come on. Beat that meal?! Impossible. The sides were spectacular as well. Grilled veggies (zucchini, peppers, good veggies) and mashed potatoes topped with mashed butternut squash, which was without a doubt the most impressive thing of the night. Butternut squash with some nutmeg, vanilla sugar, some secret ingredients and a dash of curry. Absolutely positively insanely good. The best thing about this place is the fact that it's small enough (prob holds 50 people) that the Chef can cook for everybody. It's Chef Greg and a sous chef. You will not find cut-rate jokers that can't cook a piece of meat consistently mucking up a good chef's menu at Medusas... no sir. I'm sick of typing. Loved it. Highly recommend.
We always love to go to Medusas when we head to Lake Geneva. Greg's special is the best. We like seeing the food being prepared on the tv by the bar. Do not miss this restaurant!
This is a "grill" that leans toward Greek (at least their interpretation). Chef Greg is there every night, cooking EVERY meal, and I really love places like that. Lake Geneva really doesn't have many decent restaurant choices, and in my opinion, this is the best the little town has to offer. The appetizers are fantastic and huge. I especially dig the gyros and the skordalia. When I order an entree, I always order the chef's choice surf and turf. It's a massive dose of whatever the chef is featuring that night--steak, shrimp, salmon, swordfish, and kebobs (those of you with lighter appetites could probably split it). It typically comes with marinated purple cabbage and some seriously buttered corn (seriously). I'd describe the ambiance as dim-lit, dark (walls), trendy, cozy (as in a 15-20 table joint). It doesn't fit Lake Geneva, and that's what's great about it if you've ever spent time there. Insider tip: Maybe show up at 5:00 before the crowds order a bunch of apps, some wine, and skip the entrees? That would save you some cash.

The central wisconsin feel just north of the border, complete with spotted cow =)
Your typical, off the beaten path, hole-in-the-wall bar. We love it. Low ceilings, cheap drinks, friendly people and pizza anytime!
In the middle of the night, winding down Southalnd Drive it took us nearly twenty minutes to find this South Geneva Lake treat. We were told at another bar about this location and that it was a must stop on our way to the infamous Zenda Tap. So after a few wrong turns and what seemed to be a road heading to nowhere, we happened upon the tell tale sign that you are approaching a rural tavern -- the neon bar lights. There were three people inside including the bartender and drinks were very cheap. The northwoods feel to the pub made the ambiance interesting and if you get there early pub grub is available. Just having found this lakeside treasure made it completely worth the wrong turns and according to the bartender, summer months make the place extremeley popular. I will make note of that for my next trip home during warmer months.

Reviews:
My husband and I went to Lazy Cloud for our one year wedding anniversary. When we walked into the Heavenly Nights room we were in awe! The room was very clean and very cozy! The in keeper walked us to our room and showed us everything we needed to know and was VERY nice. On our first night there my husband & I read the "comment dairies" and had discovered that there are coins, corks, notes and dollars bills hidden all over the room. This became a game for us and had so much fun going around the room finding all kinds of things. We were so delighted to have picked such romantic room. There is a huge porch outside of every room, and ours had a wooden couple swing. In the morning we would sit on the swing and watch all the wild life come around to feed and then at night, we would just sit and listen to creatures of the night. You have to experience Lazy Cloud to understand what a Lazy Cloud guest feels like! We will definitely be back! Pros: Can't tell you enough about it! Cons: Only one, Bed is not comfortable.
This was our 5th or 6th trip to Lazy Cloud, we're beginning to lose count. This trip was to celebrate our 4th wedding anniversary. We got engaged in the Blue Moon Suite a little more than 5 years ago and keep coming back to our new favorite, the Heavenly Nights Suite. Once again, it didn't disappoint. It had been a couple of years since our last trip and some things have changed. For the better: new bathroom, improved toiletries, nicer bed. :) For the not-so-better: We were a little disappointed that they no longer provide a pie on your 2nd night. Thankfully, they gave us a free pie as repeat guests unaware of the policy change. Oh, and no more glass wine glasses in the room. Too many people were not following the policy of keeping the glasses away from the whirlpool and they had to change them out for safety. Other than that - fabulous as always. It's such a warm and welcoming place to forget about "real life" and focus on the one you love. We will absolutely be back - they now have a frequent guest program that we are very much looking forward to! If you're on the fence about this place, take a leap of faith. You won't be disappointed. It is magic.
My boyfriend and I stayed at the Inn recently and were both pleased with the experience. Our room was very cozy, and because it was near the holidays, had its own Christmas tree in addition to the fireplace, jacuzzi, etc. We were very comfortable here thanks to all the thought that was put into making sure we had a relaxing stay. We especially appreciated the restaurant guide that the Lazy Cloud folks had put together. I had never stayed somewhere before where at check-in, you get a walk-through of your room. I suppose its nice for people who have lots of questions or need to be shown how to turn on a hot tub, but I would have been okay without it, mostly because we had snow and ice tracked throughout our room. I would stay here again if we were in the Lake Geneva area, but would next time ask them to take shoes off by the door (if the weather is wet/snowy).

Great breakfast, really recommend the homemade corn beef hash. Rumor is the chef has some mad skills, I second that. Chatted with Joni and the family, wonderful people. Home away from home, thx Joni. See you next time through town.
We were very excited to go to Joni's Diner. Imagine, a real chrome East Coast Diner, fully restored, in Lake Geneva, WI. And there it was, right next to our hotel. So, after checking out we walked to the Diner for a late breakfast. Service was great. While limited, their menu looked good. We ordered coffee (not great but not bad). The server said everything on the menu was good so I opted for their corned beef hash and eggs. The menu suggested that it was their own special recipe. I've never seen hash quite like this. When you think of corned beef hash, you tend to think of mushy corned beef, onions and potatoes. If you're lucky, there may be some crisp spots. But this was not like that at all. They corn their own beef and shred it. They mix in diced cabbage, onion, potato and green pepper. Then it is lightly heated on a flattop. So, no mush. One thing I would have liked is if they cooked it a little more. I would classify the veggies as almost raw. Also, since they were diced together, the favors just didn't mesh. Non-the-less, it was very unique. And, the eggs were cooked to perfection. So, I've had better breakfasts before, but the ambiance of the old diner really made up for it. Next time we're in Lake Geneva, I want to try Joni's for lunch.
I have been meaning to check this place out for some time. I'm glad they accept credit cards now. One thing I can't understand is how it has 4 plus star rating. A lot of the 5 star ratings don't say much about the food in detail so I'll be more to the point. The decor is nice like a 50's style diner. They boast that most of the food is handmade which is a nice touch. The wait staff is friendly and service was good. I ordered the corned beef hash that the waiter said I would love and it was very freshly made but lacked in overall flavor. There were too many potatoes not enough Swiss cheese. The cabbage and green peppers were a great addition but there could have been more corned beef as well. The eggs were perfectly done easy over, but I would not order this dish again. I might try the sandwich next time to give them a second chance since I love a good Reuben. My husband ordered the sausage and biscuits and they were good but as described by another review not flaky at all and I thought the gravy was to thick and also bland. I'm a fan of Daddy Maxwell's about 15 minutes away and definitely worth the drive but I was able to walk here so that was nice.

Love Louie's pizza! Also has the best Chicago hot dog around!Great place! Great people!
We LOVED our italian beefs -- and we're from Chicago. Better than Al's for sure. The menu was quite extensive, which is fun in case you're in the mood for... basically anything. Nice owner, great vibes here.
We ordered pasta dinner, chicken parmigiana, and a salad. Honestly, based on where we are I got what was expected, although I wish it had been a little better. According to the menu, the pasta dinner was supposed to be 'baked in mozzarella' cheese -- we received boiled pasta in watery tomato sauce. Flavor was good, but preparation was an issue for us. Will give it another shot just to be sure or just stick with Pizza since that's probably not hard to mess up.

I was looking for a nice, relaxing spot sort of by the water, to take my boyfriend for his birthday. We came from Los Angeles to visit my family and decided to check this cafe out. Service is so great. We had the nicest waitress who informed us of one of the specials that day, breakfast skillet. And it was delicious. My boyfriend ordered salmon eggs Benedict and he loved it. Honestly, we have never had such good breakfast. It tasted to fresh and coffee was great! We will be coming back next time we visit!
Staff is friendly, the food was good. I had the banana nut french toast it was nice and moist not dry at all. Not too pricy.
My go to breakfast place. Great selection. AMAZING service...

Wow finally authentic Mexican cuisine. One of the best places I've been to. We were seated immediately. Bare in mind the actual restaurant is within a market store. The menu has a wide variety of choices from tacos, burritos, and quesadillas. I ordered two tacos, marinated pork, and they were crazy good. Also you can order American style or Mexican style. American has tomatoes, cheese, etc. like something you would get from Taco Bell. Mexican has just onions and lettuce. Food was hot, fresh, and delicious. Service was ace, and the environment was an aesthetic. What are you waiting for? Stop going to Taco Bell and go to the real places!
OMG AMAZING. We fed a family of 3 for $16! (7 tacos and 2 quesadillas). This little place is super cramped and everyone is speaking Spanish so I have no idea what they are saying but OMG is the food DELISH. We are staying in Lake Geneva for a few nights and we'll probably end up picking up dinner from here tomorrow night too. Can't beat the price. They could totally charge more because it's worth it. I'm in a euphoric state of taco coma right now. SO GOOD. Tip: There is a difference between "Mexican style" and "American style" tacos. Check out the photos people have posted. American style is cheese and sour cream and tomatoes Mexican style is none of those things. My husband got the Mex style and was jealous of my American ones.
I am from El Paso, TX so I know Mexican food. I was pleasantly surprised to find this authentic Mexican market place and restaurant in Lake Geneva. You have to know what you want because they are a bit shy when it comes to asking you air making suggestions. I recommend tacos al pastor Mexican style (onions with cilantro) or American style (cheese, cream, and tomatoes) with Horchata to drink. They have menudo on the weekends! You will love this place.

So.... Stayed in Lake Geneva with dh and and the canine son. As we were driving to the Grand Geneva, I saw the LGPC and I knew I would hit it on my way home! I prepared myself by reading reviews and studying menus. I noticed that there were lots of people that complained about lack of selection so I prepped myself. When I arrived a little before noon, there was very little selection. I had to buy 2 small frozen chicken pot pies for dh and I also bought a raspberry, peach crumble pie. DH said the chicken pp was good and I loved the raspberry, peach crumble. Both were definitely wins. Not bad for a small store in a strip mall. When I get to LG, I'll be back so bake some more pies!
Nice people and they are serious about their pies! Blue ribbon winners. We tried a slice of Adam's apple pie and a slice of blueberry. Both got amazing crust that is just the right consistency, bone sticking good! Their chili was good too :-) We ended up buying two frozen take and bake pies for our next party!
We came in at 1 pm for lunch and they were out of pot pies. The atmosphere is strip mall bakery. pie is good but don't think of it as an out of town fun lunch destination
