This is QUITE a gas station! (Excuse me, travel plaza) Conveniently located between MKE and Madison, Pine Cone caters to truck drivers and those who have to pee really, really bad. While you're there, you can grab something to eat at the attached diner or of you're in a hurry there is a large selection of grab 'n' go stuff. It was nice to see that in addition to sandwiches and pizza, they had some healthier choices like fruit bowls and yogurt with granola. If you really want to have a driving adventure, they sell cream puffs that are literally the size of my face and about 10" high with whipped cream. I have no idea how a person might eat one of those things much less how they might do it in a car, but I think it would be entertaining to watch. The magazine area has an enormous number of gun-themed magazines so I'd think twice about trying to rob the place.
How can the bathrooms be so gross every time we pass through here? Regardless of day or time, they always smell like 1000 people just competed in a synchronized peeing contest. Also, what is up with all the nasty racist graffiti in the ladies room? Is there an annual Nazi convention held in the area? Was going to pick up a few goodies from the bakery, but there were 3 flies living in the display case, so no. I guess I'll stick to Kwik Trip from now on, at least their bathrooms are consistently clean.
I love the Pinecone. It's inexpensive, simple home cooking. We visited on Christmas Day for lunch, it was packed, but we got right in. My husband and I both ordered the baked half chicken dinner, it came with mashed taters and gravy, stuffing, veggie, soup or salad and dinner roll for $8.95. I loved the coleslaw, so good. The meal was huge and I have leftovers for a whole meal. My kids has cheeseburgers & fries and chicken strips & fries, $3.25 each and it includes drinks, they cleaned their plates, so it must have been good. My 12 year old son thought the ranch dressing was gross, so skip that if you are picky about ranch ;) The bakery case at the cash register is heaven.....drool

Culvers is a bit of a Wisconsin institution. Afterall, where else can you get breaded deep fried cheese instead fries with a burger meal? I've never had a bad meal at Culvers, although this was my first time at this store having come from the outlet mall. I had some massive double burger thing that was amazing. It's the little things - like taking the care to ensure that the burgers have irregular edges so that they go all nice and crispy. Not to mention the quality buns. Love it. This was a nice clean example of a Culvers and with the usual quality fair to boot.
Perhaps my worst Culver's experience to date, this location was disappointing in multiple ways. Biggest problems: -Cluttered, hard to navigate parking lot -Small, crowded area where you wait in line to place an order -No vegetarian options (almost all other Culver's carry veggie burgers) When I attempted to order a veggie burger, the cashier informed me they didn't carry them and didn't offer any alternatives or suggestions. If you're vegetarian, you should avoid this location. Despite the fact that we didn't have great customer service and had trouble navigating the small area, the place was SO BUSY. We went on a Saturday at 1pm, so I would avoid that time if you don't want to get a headache just from walking in the place. The food was decent, but was sloppily put together. Again, I would not visit this location unless you're really desperate for Culver's.
Culver's is just so darn tasty. I only get it once a year when I go back to Wisconsin, and I look forward to it the for the whole year. I got a single butterburger basket with cheese curds. They let you choose what you get on the burger (I shouldn't have gotten the ketchup and mustard, it was too much). The deep fried cheese curds are always good - not fair good, but great for the winter. It's a weird mix of fast food and table side service as they always bring you your food, as it's cooked to order. It's not as cheap as McDonalds but it's not expensive, either. A solid choice with a good variety of food! I do like their frozen custard, too, but never have any room left for it. Sad face!

More than plentiful entrees at a reasonable price. Prompt service and a very clean environment. The refried beans were plentiful and hot, though a bit lacking in flavor. The shrimp fajitas were excellent, with lots of peppers and large count shrimp. They serve masa or flour tortillas or a mix of both with entrees. They were hot, fresh and flavorful. The bathroom is diffcult to navigate for wheelchair customers and the entry was accessbile, though very difficult to get into in a wheelchair. The servers did rush to assist, but it was not crowded at the time.
Good service, friendly and helpful waitress. Food tasted good, chicken chimy was tasty. I would go back.
The only good restaurant I have been to in Johnson Creek. Try the burrito meal. It's very good. The margaritas are amazing. They have every flavor imaginable, and they are HUGE...and delicious.

***This McDonald's is similar to any other McDonald's; it is right off the freeway on the way from Milwaukee to Madison; service was very professional and friendly for a McDonald's*** This McDonald's shares a large parking lot with a gas station / convenience store; as expected, parking is free.
This McDonald's is on the North side of a convenience store. I rarely shine the light of the golden arches upon my stomach but a recent road trip left few options. Went the first time for brunch buffet, was terrible. Thought I would try it a second time as the first visit may have been a fluke, it was decent. The orange juice is horrible, would never order it again. It is an okay place to go if you don't want to wait for seating at the Pine Cone. The omelet station is good, as are the roasts, the bbq pork. Biscuits and gravy was decent.
I would only recommend this place for drinks. I'm a Johnson Creek local and have tried this place numerous times, hoping for better results. Simply put, the food is awful. It has a decent atmosphere at the bar - just stay away from the food!
Service and food absolutely horrible. My wife ordered a burger medium came out gray in the middle and about as juicy as the charcoal it resembled. My daughter ordered Alfredo which was watery and tasteless. Manager was told and didn't seem to care and comped the entire bill as if this type of thing was common. I would suggest avoiding this place
