My boyfriend and I absolutely love this place. We are now regulars of Steves. He knows us by name and always says hi to us when he's there. The staff are pretty friendly. I have never had a bad hot dog here... the food has always been amazing quality plus they use actual Viena beef (I believe that's how they spell it) from Chicago. Honestly the closest thing to an actual Chicago dog your gonna get in janesville wi. My boyfriend loves their Italian beefs he says it's probably his second favorite place to go for them! All in all I will always love this dog house! Although the location, parking, and seating could be bigger I have high hopes he's gonna make some money and move to a bigger better location! (:

I was a first timer here. Honestly had never had a Chicago style dog in my life . The service was quick , prices were moderate . It just didn't taste good. I'd maybe try their Italian beef if I go there again. I wouldn't get the French fries again. Chicago style hot dog -soggy throughout , bottom of bun was mushy from relish. - all I could taste was relish , which wasn't very good - bit into just a piece of hot dog, tasted no different than microwaved French fries - soggy -over salted Iced Tea - not sure if they swapped out with a root beer spout/hose but I kept getting hints of root beer. Not a complaint more of a fun fact Puppy bag = two Chicago dogs , fries, drink $7 I threw handful of fries and second hot dog away Maybe I just don't like Chicago dogs but ... Fact is it looked about how it tasted.

I wanted to like this place, i really did. Their menu looked nice, and the prices were very affordable. The decor was spot on, but the size of the place created really awful acoustics in which the regulars' loud laughter hurt my ears. The Chicago dog had all the fixings, it was correct in theory, but in practice it fell really short. The dog was tiny, less than 1" in diameter. The bun was soggy and didn't hold together. All i could taste was the huge pickle on top. The reuben dog just looked damn sad. Small, mushy, and flavorless with canned kraut. The jalepeno poppers were good, but i highly suspect that they were frozen and not made in house. The highlight was the hand cut fries, which had very nice texture, but lacked any seasoning. We added table salt to ours. This place is really cheap, and it is obvious why. But it seems like a clean place, and would be a good way to fill up without spending a bunch of money. Two people dining together only came to $11. But for what we got, i personally would rather have gone to the store and cooked my dogs myself.

Have been wanted to try this place since they opened. So when I saw them at festival on the Rock I was excited . But to my disappointment it wasn't what I hoped it to be. We had the chili cheese dog and the hot dog was Flavorless ,seemed like a mixed meat dog and not a all beef frank. The chili tasted like canned chili, no flavor and had a weird texture to it . At least they used shredded cheese ! But nothing worth me trying again .

Stopped by here today. Was very satisfied with food. Had a Chicago style hotdogs and a side salad. Side salad consists of bacon cheese onions tomato and lettuce. Very good. Will definitely stop here again.

The fresh cut fries are awesome. I ordered a large to share and they came in a lunch bag-you get a lot. We ordered cheese fries and the cheese comes in a little cup on the side-it wasn't warmed up at all-I am pretty sure it came right out of the can. I had the Italian beef/Italian sausage combo. The sausage had great flavor and was cooked perfectly, the beef was a little dry, and the onions that come with it are raw. Sautéing them would really make a big difference. My husband had a chili cheese dog and thought it was mediocre. The chili tasted canned and the dogs are only 1/8 lb. He would have liked the option of a larger dog (obviously a man thing...). We always try to avoid chain restaurants and support locally owned-they have a few kinks to work out but we will definitely be coming back.

Got a Polish and they burned it. Pretty expensive for the other offerings. Don't really have good dog place in Janesville, so I had high hopes when I saw they were opening - so far disappointed.

Just stopped down there since they just opened and its just as good if not better than how the old deli dog house on Washington was. They've got the best Chicago styles I've had since being in Rockford the last time. Definitely order a Chicago style or a wrap(with honey mustard) if you're nearby. Great place.

my first trip to Steve's and I am so glad I did. I ordered a polish and a Reuben. the Reuben was hot, moist and delicious. Sadly the polish was was overcooked and very dry. This is small place with limited parking so be patient ..I didn't, order my personal favorite, a chili cheese dog , as they do not make their own chili...but I gave them one star just for their honesty. Wait staff friendly and eager to describe the selections. I will definitely go back!
