I started eating at daves about 20 plus years ago in Beloit I believe. Then move to rockford and ate at diamonds Dave there alway been good. Now I live in Janesville and decided to try it here. It been 10 years since I ate at diamond eaves. The menu has change and the food I think is still pretty good. I will go back. The only thing I complained about was the salsa wasn't hot enough. But would recommend it.

I'm a fan! My husband and I stopped in one day for lunch. I was a bit overwhelmed by the enormous menu. They seem to serve a little bit of everything. It took me a few minutes to finally decide what to order. My husband and I were impressed with how fast our food came out. It was hot and delicious. I decided to order a martini since they are known for their outstanding selection. I ordered the Snickers Martini and boy was I tanked! It was absolutely delicious, but had I known it would intoxicate me, I probably wouldn't have ordered it while on my lunch break! =) I had to drink plenty of water and walk the mall to wear the buzz off before I went back to work. All in all, this was a fun, friendly, laid back place to go with excellent food, service, and drinks!!! This will definitely be the next place I choose for my "girls night out!"

This is your average mall restaurant that didn't really have anything special to offer. Even the "special "drinks were average.

I've been living in Janesville for a few years now. I prefer to support local businesses, and I like to try new places. I've never heard anything good about Diamond Dave's, but I hadn't read any recent reviews, either. So I was hopeful that things had improved, and my family and I went on a Friday night to give it a try. I'm sorry we did. This is one of those places where you walk out wondering how they possibly can still be in business. We were seated immediately and our server was friendly, so there's that. I can't think of anything else nice to say, unfortunately. It was a little bit dingy inside, and not in a cool dive bar kind of way. Music was too loud and the novelty Christmas songs were kind of grating after three or four in a row. We ordered chips and salsa and were brought a bowl of chips that were straight from a bag and a refillable squirt bottle of some kind of red sauce. No bowl to put it in. Were we supposed to take turns squirting it into our mouths? We asked for a bowl, but it never arrived. It didn't matter, though--my husband and I each squirted the sauce onto a chip and were sorry we did...the sauce had a good amount of heat but was definitely not salsa, and we didn't touch it again. It was a runny liquid at room temperature (shouldn't salsa be refrigerated once the container's opened??) and it sort of reminded me of marinara sauce. My husband later asked about just being charged for the chips, since we hadn't touched the salsa since our initial taste, and because it was just a squeeze bottle taken off a shelf it wasn't like we'd contaminated it. We were told that wasn't an option. Good customer service would have been to at least apologize. That didn't happen. Between the four of us, we ordered two cheeseburgers (one with onion rings in place of fries for an extra $.99), one Reuben, and the enchiladas. The burgers were barely passable, but not for nearly nine dollars. The onion rings never showed up at all. The Reuben was sub-par--it was soggy and heavy. The fries were standard precooked fries bought in bulk, which would be fine, but they lacked whatever special seasoning the menu claimed they'd have. The enchiladas were probably the worst of the meal. For over nine dollars, our daughter got two tiny corn tortillas filled with textureless ground beef infused with basic taco seasoning. They were topped with an oddly-flavored orange-tinted sauce that was starting to solidify. It had that odd shiny look that fake cheese gets. Her meal was accompanied by room-temperature premade rice, straight from a box, and it was really more of a cajun-ey dirty rice than a Mexican flavor. She also got a tiny little pile of shredded lettuce and tomatoes topped with ranch dressing. No cheese, no chips, no guacamole, no sour cream, no anything else that you'd typically find on an enchilada platter. Isn't Diamond Dave's supposed to be a Mexican-American restaurant? They also failed to bring her any silverware--we had to ask twice--though once she did try her meal, she didn't want it anymore. When the bill came, we were charged $48 for this delicious dinner, and the suggested gratuities of 18% and 20% had been ever-so-helpfully calculated on the tab for us. I find this presumptuous. Our server was okay, and the food quality was not her fault. But she made enough errors that I didn't think 18% was warranted, either. I'm not sure what Diamond Dave's is trying to be. There doesn't seem to be any real theme to the menu, other than "mediocre". They'd do well to create a stronger identity...if you want to be Mexican food, then do that, and do it well. If you want to be a burger joint, then do burgers, but do those well. If you want to be classic comfort foods (stroganoff is on their menu!), then offer that, but do it right. I don't think it works to have tacos next to stroganoff next to salad next to Reuben sandwiches. I'm realistic-- I'm not expecting gourmet food at the Janesville Mall. But if Diamond Dave would step it up a few notches, he might have a chance to overcome his reputation as the worst restaurant in Janesville.

Service was great, but food was not so great. Had the chicken and ground beef tacos and they mixed some kind of sauce into the meat, which made the tacos heavy and greasy. Margaritas are boring and made from a drink mix. They also serve traditional American food and large ice cream sundaes. It seems that Diamond Dave's doesn't know what kind of restaurant it should be. Dive bar? Mexican? American? I am not quite sure either.

This is one of the worst restaurants I have ever been to. Our food was absolutely disgusting. The beans and rice had obviously been sitting there for a ling time--the beans were thick and burnt, and the rice was crunchy. I would not recommend it, and I would never go back there.

Really good Mexican/American cuisine. And really good drinks too. They use fresh ingredients except for the refried beans. They are definitely not homemade. This place should please most palates.
