My favorite mexican food! Beats the competition hands down in town. No alcohol so grab it to go and enjoy with your own!

I usually get sub par Mexican from the other joint on north main but read that this place is better. Indeed it is.....By a landslide! I usually go for the enchiladas. They were awesome. Even enjoyed the rice and beans! This is the place to get Mexican in Hartford. Don't waste your money anywhere else.

I try to make my husband take me at least once a week. If I am busy, he seriously goes by himself... it's that good!

Update 8/9/2014 My latest favorite are the Sopas. It's a thick corn tortilla / cale (like 1/4" thick) topped with your favorite meat an, cheese, sour cream. Delicious. I love the Pork. Also, they started serving Black Beans in addition to refried beans. They've updated their menu and it's good to see that they are adding / removing things over time. Still, by far the BEST Mexican restaurant I've eaten at. Every OTHER place I go, I always compare to Puebla's and it is NEVER as good. Do NOT pass the place up. _____ What to say about Puebla's... Me and my family have been going there at least 2-3 times a month since they opened a few years ago. They have truly great Mexican food. It is consistent, freshly prepared, and never disappoints. My personal favorite is Bistec a la Mexicana. It is the best I've ever had. I would highly recommend that one. One thing, for people that are expecting a typical American-Mexican restaurant....it doesn't have liquor, it is definitely a small home-town atmosphere, not a sports bar, so if that's what you are looking for, try another recent Mexican restaurant that opened in Hartford, just don't expect great food if you go there though! I know I've been here too often when they no what we want to drink and eat and my son's names! Great people. Highly recommend it. Awesome food and really nice folks working there.

Wow this place shocked the sh*t out of me. Amazing Mexican classics, and of you read my reviews, I'm a picky SOB. Perfectly cooked enchiladas, delicious tacos, perfect Arbol sauce, perky moist rice, classic beans. The horchata was sweet and gently spiced. I knowingly asked for guac without crema, and it was perfect. Great food, kind service, only wished for some delicious margaritas, alas no liquor license.

Great authentic Mexican cuisine at a reasonable price. I love taking my family here for lunch or dinner. Try the buffet for lunch on Wednesday and Friday. Great value for your dollar. Home made salsa is awesome, and theirs is great, spicy and mild versions. You can taste the care and pride that goes into their food. Can't wait to go back! Please join us and support this wonderful small business!

Hands down the best Mexican restaurant in Hartford. We've been going to Puebla's for years, and I have never had a bad meal yet. We go for dinner there a couple times a month, at least. I love the fajitas and the enchiladas. The service is always excellent, and the waitresses have gotten to know us. It is to the point where they just bring our drinks when we get there without having to ask. They are all such nice people. The offer a Friday lunch buffet, which I tried for the first time this week. It was excellent. It had a nice variety of items including, fajitas, tacos, chimichangas, and a few other items. They don't offer alcohol like most Mexican restaurants, but the amazing food more than makes up for it.

This place was ok... Not the best in town but if taqueria azteca is closed pueblas will do in a pinch. Food is a bit bland and can be cold sometimes.

Came here for lunch as it was close by, but this may be the last time we come here. It wasn't very busy so service was pretty quick. A co-worker ordered the guacamole and it was pretty tasty from my perspective but the other two people I was with said it was just ok. My steak burrito was ok but the steak seemed like the burnt pieces from a grill. The beans and rice were pretty typical. What I will warn you on is the nickle and dime stuff they add to the bill (none of this was disclosed to us as extra charges). I asked for extra spicy, and got charged for extra jalapenos. I misread the menu and thought I was ordering the "dinner" but apparently did not. So when I asked for beans and rice...extra charge (I take the responsibility for this one). A co-worker ordered a three taco meal and asked for 2 of one and 1 of another. All the same prices... but got charged a dollar for splitting the meats. For the amount it cost me ($20 including tip) for lunch, totally not worth it. I can get better at half the price elsewhere.

They don't serve alcohol, which is due to the city councils limit on liquor licenses. A margarita or beer would be nice. The decor is ok. The food...amazing. Been here several times and has been consistently good. Enchiladas, burritos, chimichangas are amazing. Didn't expect to find this good of a Mexican restaurant so close to home. Certainly a benefit to the city of Hartford.

Best Mexican food in all of Washington county in my opinion. Salsa is amazing. Their Mexican coffee with a touch of cinnamon is incredibly good. My favorite is the chicken soft tacos.

Great food! Like eating at home. Great hospitality! Great homemade taste. Burritos, sopa's enchiladas. Every time we go I try something different and it's always great. 25 per couple with tip is a great cheap night out.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
