Came at 5:30 on a Friday, waited 30 minutes for an outdoor table...well worth the wait! Enjoyed a beverage in the beer garden while we waited (Bloody Mary was decent, well garnished). I ordered the dry rub ribs and was shocked at how tasty they were. Took my knife to cut them apart and they fell apart, so tender. Well spiced, now I am curious how they are with bbq sauce. Husband had the fish fry- good fish fry, exactly what you expect in Wisconsin on a Friday night.

Excellent service. Polite, attentive, on top of drink refills. Had the Queen sized prime rib (18oz), huge slab of meat over an inch thick. It was my birthday, the cake they presented was very nice, baked there, icing was very good, and huge. Nice beer selection and they have ice cream drinks. Old school supper club.

Sign on door says 10pm, Yelp says 11pm. We came in at 9, were turned away (grills were shut off). Won't be back.

I had been here before and thought the food was good with really reasonable prices so I wanted to come again because of the variety on the menu. We did have a bit of a wait but enjoyed a drink at the bar with fun bartenders. Ordered Chicken Oscar with Hollandaise and was disappointed. I suspect that the Hollandaise was out of a can and lacked flavor. My companions had Prime Rib and said it was great. Our server noticed I hadn't really eaten my dinner and asked if everything was okay. When I looked a little uncomfortable she said she would like to buy me a dessert. I really appreciated the gesture. I will come back again to give it one more try.

Fish fry's are a staple in the Wisconsin diet, and every town has their favorite spot to go on a Friday. In my family's case that place is MJ's. It's basically a guarantee that I'll be eating at this place if I'm at home on a Friday. This weekend was no different. The fish is about as run of the mill as it gets, which isn't a bad thing. Sometimes you need a familiar meal. They are more than generous with the top-notch waffle fries.

Great fish and chili. Been stopping here when we pass by for 25 years. Great family owned restaurant.

Best Fish Fry Ever! I have been going to this place for many years and they have never disappointed me yet. I tend to visit this place more so in the Summer.... Reason why? It's a long hike for me, and there is always a long wait time for the Fish Fry, but they have a gigantic beer garden with a full bar, fire pits & live band playing. So this is a nice way to make time fly by while waiting on your table. What I love about the fish is the large flaky pieces with perfect breading (not greasy at all). The only downside is they do not serve potato pancakes :( If you are a bar fly like myself, you have the option to sit at the bar and enjoy a meal. Every item on the menu is a winner. Do yourself a favor and treat yourself to a nice drive and food. You will not be disappointed.

We have driven by countless times on a Friday night and the place is always packed. As we were traveling north yet again, this time on a Thurs. We decided to stop. So glad we did. Perfect amount of patrons. Nice bar. Not loud. No waiting to seat. Great bloody mary and our plates were full of terrific food. Looks like an awesome brunch menu too. We will definitely stop again on one of our many trips by.

Great fish, great Bloody Mary. Friendly staff and fast service. Love this place and continue to come back every chance I visit Wisconsin. This restaurant truly makes me miss Wisconsin.

If dining here you must try the Stuffed Mushrooms appetizer. Phenomenal! Even those in our party who are hard to please were impressed. Very tasty. I had the Salmon BLT which was good, the lime tarragon mayo added a nice flavor. Staff was also very friendly. :) Will be back to try other items.

Loved. Not a typical supper club with great service, food, and local beer. Try the fish special which they seem to have every night. I had a grilled mahi mahi which I turned into a sandwich. Also had some good local beer. Fireside able ale while was delishes. If you're in the area or driving by 41, you need to stop here P.s. They're closed on Monday. FYI.

What a place. I'm so happy to have found it. I went once for a Friday night fish fry in the summer and we sat outside. We had a drink while waiting for a table, roughly 45 minutes. It was a bit chilly but they had really nice little portable fire pits to keep you warm. The atmosphere is perfect. A little loud but a very friendly crowd. The fish fry was great and you can build your own size, having the option of 1,2,3 or 4 pieces of cod. I was going back to Wisconsin and wasn't going to be able to make a Friday fish fry, but I remembered seeing that they had a Wednesday night fish fry as well! So I was very happy to get my fish fry on my last visit. The outside wasn't open because they weren't busy but when we asked to be seated outside they happily let us sit outside. Our server was wonderful and nice and wasn't annoyed by the inconvenience of us being outside. The food was wonderful again and we were very happy.

M J Steven's is a great restaurant. I have had lunch and dinner a number of times and the food has always been great. The Friday fish fry is really good. They have a huge patio in the summer. It is great to site outside and enjoy dinner there. They also have live music outside in the summer during dinner.

5 stars? Hell yeah! Great place. Old time Wisconsin Supper Club feel in the main room but we ate at a booth in the bar area. There's also a huge outdoor dining area that is fenced in so you aren't looking at the parking lot or highway. Classic menu. Sunday special; prime rib. Say no more. I had the prime rib with butterflied fried shrimp for $25. Comes with soup, salad, potato, bread and breadsticks. I thought I'd have lunch for tomorrow but oopsie, I ate it all. Too yummy. I did share my duck soup with my hubbie. He ordered a burger and fries for $9. It was huge. And, of course, I ordered an old fashioned; only $5.50. Very good. Whole meal including three pint beers, tip and tax was $66 for two. This is a great stop right off 41, exit K and go North on the west side fromtage road. It's located North of greater Milwaukee and a nice stop on your way to or from Chicago and the great northwoods. A bit more upscale than my other two favorites, The Brat Stop and Uncle Mike's, both in Kenosha.

Best Fish Fry. Very delicious and you can expect the same quality of food and preparation each and every time. They also have a great Sunday Brunch. I've been a few times outside of Friday and have never been disappointed by any of their other offerings.

My favorite fish fry, hands down -- I even enjoy the leftovers the next day. The portions are extremely generous and I feel that the price is reasonable. It's out of the way for me, but when I go, I always enjoy it. And it's always worth the wait.

A very good friend suggested this place. So we stopped in for dinner one night to find a restaurant that has a good atmosphere, great food. I will be back to try there Fish-fry

If you want a fish fry, this is the place! It's sooo worth the drive. It's the best I've ever had. I would suggest going on a Wednesday night for the fish fry because Friday nights are usually PACKED and they don't take reservations. The wait is usually pretty long. (again, worth it)! Also, they do NOT do to go orders. The fish fry comes with your choice of 1,2,3 or 4 pieces of fish. The pieces are HUGE! Starting at $6.95 and going up... it includes, rye bread, cole slaw, and choice of potatoe. My favorite part was the waitress put a huge bottle of tartar sauce on our table. :) I hate it when you get skimpy servings of tartar sauce and have to keep asking the waitress to get you some more. (apparently they hate it, too)! The only negative things I can say about this place are: 1. There was no air conditioning in the bathrooms. So when it's hot out, and you're cooling off in the dinning room and have to go to the bathroom, it's like walking right into an oven. Make it quick! :) And 2. We ordered a grape vodka and sprite and the bartender said there was no grape vodka. I then had to point out that they had a grape martini on the menu made with 3 Olives Vodka and then they were able to find some... not sure what that was about... PLUS... if it's your birthday, they will give you a cake for FREE. You just have to give them some notice. And with enough notice (I think 48 hours) they will personalize it for you. And not some wimpy piece of cake for one. A nice sized cake that looks delicious. All and all, worth the trip to check it out.

Stopped at this place on my way home from Hartford to L.A. Actually saw the place off the side of the freeway and decided to try it out before I went back. Pretty nice looking place. Looks like an English pub on the inside, a bunch of beers on tap, all wood decor, and a bunch of stained glass windows.. I had the Reuben sandwich, which consisted of corned beef, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese, and thousand island dressing. It came on rye bread. Was actually really good. Also tried a cup of beef vegetable soup which you could tell was homemade. All in all, this joint was bumping at lunch time. Locale is somewhat off, so I don't see this place getting busy after, but then again, I'm the tourist, so who knows. Kudos for the waitress for keeping my coffee nice and hot. Yes, I said coffee! Don't judge me:)

Really good fish fry. My girlfriend and I went on a Friday, around 8:00pm. Be prepared to wait! We will definitely be back. Check out the beer garden.

It's always a great place to eat. We have never had a bad meal or bad service! Happy, friendly staff. I look forward to a stop when we make a trip that way! A great example of a Wisconsin supper club.

My mom used to work here when I was a kid. We used to eat here all the time back then. Was good then and is still good today. Their Friday fish fry and waffle fries are delicious! A bit pricey, but worth it for the quality.

Way overpriced for the "quality" of food you get. I was expecting way better food from what people who like the place have told me. I had the chicken Oscar and the chicken was extremely low quality with lots of gristle (seemed like a frozen patty they pre-bought not fresh) the crab on top was definitely NOT fresh at all, it was imitation crab and the crab on my husband's pasta dish was definately imitation crab as well. Speaking of my husband's dish it had absolutely NO flavor, I didn't believe him until I tried it myself and was astonished that it didn't takes like *anything*, I don't think they seasoned a THING on that dish and he ended up putting lots of salt and pepper to even make it palatable. I can't believe a place that costs that much money puts out such low quality fare. Service was also very slow on a not-so-busy night. Would NOT go back!

Food was good, but the location is a bit out of the way for most people. 1 app. 2 rib dinners and 2 drinks = 64.00.

We go to MJ's a lot and always receive good service and quality food. They have a large menu with many good choices. They also have a nice outdoor eating area in the summer.

A recent visit home had my family and I stopping in late for Friday Night Fish Fry. This place was packed for 8:00 pm. With it's well appointed old-world charm and friendly staff, I can understand how M J Stevens Pub-N-Restaurant can command such a large audience. Their Original Fish Fry comes with a choice of one to four pieces of homemade breaded premium Atlantic Cod, and served with waffle fries, homemade coleslaw, with marble rye bread and butter. The portion size was amazing to the point of overflowing. I recommend not getting more than two pieces as you'll definitely take the rest home with you! The rest of their menu is quite complete with burgers, steaks, salads and other delectables guaranteed to please any palate. All items are reasonable priced. They also have a very nice beer and wine selection. As it is not necessary to have a white wine with fish, I enjoyed a great Pinot Noir with my entree. Please note that they don't take dinner reservations so either plan on arriving early or waiting a bit for a table. They have a nice bar area and outdoor patio space to sit and wait for your table while enjoying a pre-dinner drink.

We had the cream of duck with wild rice soup. It was flavorful and delicious. We definitely rate it the highest. Then we had fried walleye fish and fish fry. They were both very fresh, flavorful and delicious. This was one of the best meals in our 14-day cross country drive. Today, we ate for lunch the leftover fish that we kept in the hotel refrigerator. The breading, of course, is no longer crisp. But the texture and flavor of the walleye and the cod fish fry were just as fresh and tasty as yesterday. They did not smell fishy at all after one day. They must had been really fresh when the restaurant cooked them. Great.

Great find on our travels thru Wisconsin. Mozzarella logs were awesome as was the MJ Signature Burger and Milwaukee German Reuben Sandwich.
