The Coffee Trader

30 S Pike Lake Dr
Hartford, 53027
Reviews:
Super convenient coffee shack on the edge of town that serves up local Colectivo coffee. Also many specialty drinks to choose from. Always friendly service. Best of all you don't have to get out of your car :)
For a one person show, the place is great. There should be more traffic, not quite sure why there isn't. Maybe a Starbucks closer to someone's place of employment? Either wya they make a great coffee/espresso drink and have pretty good food as well. Good price on bulk coffee. It helps that they are using COLLECTIVO(aka ALTERRA) coffees. I would suggest getting the drive up menu fixed and give the place a coat of paint. That may be what is keeping people away. In business looks are everything. Me, I'm not picky, but I've hung out in some pretty seedy bars in my life too. Another person to facilitate orders would speed up the process.
Great prices and selection. Wish I lived closer to visit more often! Great quality coffee. I don't think the drive in speaker works, though.

Reviews:
I was sure I reviewed this place a few years ago and gave it high marks. But my old review is gone. Isn't that odd. I came back here to update my last review because a recent visit to Sal's was less than satisfying. Basically what once was a pretty good pizza here was just so so. They have a good crust but the pizza wasn't very flavorful and didn't have the quantity and size of toppings I would like. The garlic knots didn't have any garlic taste that I could notice. It was like eating plain bread dunked in bland tasting tomato sauce. So another decent pizza place has lowered their ingredient quality and become like so many other pizza places before them.
Saw this on yelp, while I was in the area for work, figure give it a shot. I was not disappointed! Very good Gawain pizza and sausage/mushroom was great. Defiantly will be coming back here.
Pizza is best in town!!! Also comes w- garlic knots which are yummy! Reasonably prices too!

Came at 5:30 on a Friday, waited 30 minutes for an outdoor table...well worth the wait! Enjoyed a beverage in the beer garden while we waited (Bloody Mary was decent, well garnished). I ordered the dry rub ribs and was shocked at how tasty they were. Took my knife to cut them apart and they fell apart, so tender. Well spiced, now I am curious how they are with bbq sauce. Husband had the fish fry- good fish fry, exactly what you expect in Wisconsin on a Friday night.
Excellent service. Polite, attentive, on top of drink refills. Had the Queen sized prime rib (18oz), huge slab of meat over an inch thick. It was my birthday, the cake they presented was very nice, baked there, icing was very good, and huge. Nice beer selection and they have ice cream drinks. Old school supper club.
Sign on door says 10pm, Yelp says 11pm. We came in at 9, were turned away (grills were shut off). Won't be back.

My favorite mexican food! Beats the competition hands down in town. No alcohol so grab it to go and enjoy with your own!
I usually get sub par Mexican from the other joint on north main but read that this place is better. Indeed it is.....By a landslide! I usually go for the enchiladas. They were awesome. Even enjoyed the rice and beans! This is the place to get Mexican in Hartford. Don't waste your money anywhere else.
I try to make my husband take me at least once a week. If I am busy, he seriously goes by himself... it's that good!

Best banana split in town, hands down. When I lived back home and even still when I come to visit in the summer, it's customary to walk down to Mickey's for some frozen custard after dinner. It's a great local stop to satisfy your sweet tooth on a hot day..
Classic delicious custard. Other stuff pretty typical cheap fried fare. Vibe is nice, kind of American Graffiti theme. Thursday nights in summer the classic cars come out. Good clean fun.
Can't wait for spring to get the best burger in Hartford. The frozen custard is super too, but that juicy burger is to die for!

This is THE BEST Mexican restaurant in Washington county hands down. The food is amazing and the staff is very friendly. It is a hidden gem for sure. From the street it is hard to tell that there is a restaurant because the building has been changed. The tacos are my favorite. The burritos are great too. One day they made me a torta, a Mexican sandwich that was great too. I've never had a bad experience. I eat there now one or two times a week because the food is so good and the staff is so friendly. I hope that people spread the word about this place so they get enough business to keep serving great food.
This nice little Mexican restaurant is hidden in Hartford. They have been around for a while, but we just never made it there until this week. They are in a building that looks to have been subdivided since being originally built. As a result they don't have a front window onto the street. So you don't know what you are walking into. I was pleasantly surprised when I walked in. The restaurant looked really nice, and was very clean. The chips and salsa were great. The salsa was a little sweeter than your typical restaurant salsa. It was a nice change. I had the combination plate that came with a chimichanga, a tostada and a third item. The name escapes me. Wow were the portions huge! The chimichanga was the size of a huge burrito. It was ok, a little to greasy for me. It was deep fried, as expected, and the grease ran out of it as you cut into it. The tostada was great. It has very fresh vegetables, and the chicken was good. The waitress was a bit over eager, but she seemed new at being a waitress. I would give this place a try, but maybe stay away from things that are deep fried.
Good authentic Mexican food without the crowd and parking hassle of the other more popular place in town.

Angee B’z Subs

625 A W Sumner St
Hartford, 53027
Reviews:
One of Hartfords hidden gems. Angee serves up some delicious sandwiches and wraps as well as homemade soups. They decorate the walls with paintings by local artists. Always friendly workers. A definite step up from the sandwich chains that are around.
Subs are ok. Nice to have an option against Subway and Cousins. In the past, I was always surprised how expensive this place was. It seems that the prices have lowered a little bit. Stopped there today and was not impressed to find that my bun was hard--like tap your finger on it stale. I had pepperoni, colby cheese, roast beef, and bacon. They were slivers of slices for each. Extremely thin slices. So maybe they lowered the prices by decreasing the food. Not sure. Anyway, the hard stale bun, that's unacceptable.
Delicious soups!!!! And if you haven't tried their deserts -you should! I first thought they were a little pricey- but after trying them I know why. Great quality fresh & house made ! Yummy!

Pike Lake House

3327 Lake Dr
Hartford, 53027
Reviews:
Food was very good, everything was made in house. Pleasantly surprised especially with the marinara which was very rich and tasty! We all liked our entrees; ribs (the beans with it were nothing to write home about), chicken parm, salmon and spaghetti. Being kind of hard to find, it is not surprising that it was not very busy. Added bonus was that all bottles of wine were half price, which put them at roughly retail price. Two down marks are slow (but very friendly) service and the outdoor seating is not even worth considering, it is literally two tables in the parking lot right by the AC units, not good. The inside seating is very nice however. We will be back!
I'm so glad we went to church this morning because we all needed the patience. By far one of the WORST experiences we've had for a family meal. We had reservations for 1 and got seated at 1:15. It's also a good thing that we had 4 no shows because they barely had room for the 7 that we had show up. After 15 minutes of no one attending to us we were finally asked if we wanted drinks. 30 minutes later we got our first round of mimosas for 4 out of 5 adults but neither of the kids Orange juices. The hostess left 3 mimosas sitting on the table next to us and came back 2 minutes later. When we told her we were missing a mimosa she looked at my girlfriend and said she was 16 and then handed her the mimosa. After that fun debacle we asked again for the kid's orange juice and the lady said she would have them right up. 10 minutes later I went downstairs to the bar and got the Orange juice myself within 1 minute. The funny part of the experience is another table got up and left after telling our waitress that it was one of the worst experiences they have ever had and another table looked at us and laughed on their way out and sarcastically asked if we had enjoyed the food. We waited almost 60 minutes for French toast, scrambled eggs and an omelette. Executive chef and owner Jeffrey Slough should be embarrassed about the brunch they put on. We did have a good laugh when we left and the hostess asked us to wait to give us Mother's Day roses and we said haven't we waited long enough today? And laughed even harder when she handed my "16" year old girlfriend a Mother's Day rose.
Pike Lake House was a great blend of natural Wisconsin friendliness and really good food. The atmosphere was warm and inviting and the service was excellent. You can count on being greeted quickly at your table by a wonderful basket of warm, freshly made bread. Everything in this restaurant is hand made-not processed. Quality of ingredients was excellent. Of particular note is the flourless chocolate cake. While my husband enjoyed the bread, I have a gluten allergy and have to be quite careful. Our server, Leah, worked closely with the chef to make sure that I had no issues during my meal. If you are gluten intolerant and like dessert, you've probably had your share of flourless chocolate cake as it is a restaurant "go to" for this issue. This cake had a silky feel and an unbelievable delicious chocolate/nutty taste, crowned with home made whipped cream and a few in-season raspberries. Honestly the best I've ever had. If you are anywhere near Hartford, WI, I recommend you stop in!
