Really affordable and tasty Mexican food! Don't let the location (in a motel parking lot) scare you off! They start you off with deliciously seasoned chips, and flavorful salsa, and it's free! I've been noticing that a lot of places charge now, and I really appreciate a complimentary basket of good chips! The food doesn't take long to cook, ad is always served hot. I usually go a la carte because the beans and rice are pretty standard and I like to order an assortment of food. I enjoy their flautas, tostadas, chimichangas, enchiladas. When I need comfort food, their cheese quesadilla can't be beat. I don't know how they cook it, but it's magical! I appreciate that they offer authentic dishes like menudo and beef tacos, but I've never been brave enough to try them! Their margaritas (on the rocks) are served pretty strong. Friendly staff and good prices.

This is our favorite Mexican restaurant in the area. The menu is very good and very affordable. The location is a bit weird (motel parking lot), but this place is fantastic! We love their seasoned chips and salsas. I always get the steak tacos, which are some of my favorite that I've ever had. I have food allergies, and they are very good about making sure my food is exactly as ordered. I get corn tortillas, which are lightly fried in oil (which I am not totally a fan of), but it does make them hold up a little better. Especially because I can rarely eat all three. The tacos also come with a side of rice, which is tasty, but a little plain. My husband always gets the fajitas (usually steak and chicken) which are quite tasty. It comes with a side of rice, beans, guac, pico, and tortillas. Their margaritas also quite delicious. We usually get a half pitcher, which is about two glasses each. (I'm usually tipsy by the time we walk out the door, with just the two.) DEFINITELY recommend this place!

Ohhh Little Cancun, you have the potential to grow on me. The fresh chips and 'salsainabottle' were good, and three of us devoured two baskets of chips before our meals came. It is kinda addictive with the freshness and the crunch and the saltiness. One just mindlessly grabs and dips and eats while talking. For our meal I was not too impressed. I ordered the chicken Chimichangas and couldn't help but compare it to Casa De Lara in Madison. I could not help it, people. Casa still has the best Chimichangas EVER. As for Little Cancun, I would like to come back a second time and order something different. A-Ok.

This little dive has surprisingly great food. We were so happy when we finally got past eating at the creepy motel restaurant. The reason I'm only giving them three-stars is because the past few times we've been there we've had some big service issues...so bad that the last time we were there we never got seated and left to another place. If they could get their service as good as their food it would easily be 4-5 stars.

The place is amazing. I come here once a month, and the food and service is always flawless. I always order the number16 combination plate, and it is always delicious.

Little Cancun I have been reading about this place for quite sometime. Everytime I've gone to this restaurant it's been over packed. Which means it's THAT GOOD!!! Well, today I drove pass and there were some cars in the parking lot. Walked in was greeted by the server. She was very cordial and welcoming. I ordered the special for Sunday a beef chimichanga and also for my partner a ground beef taco salad. OMG. THE BEST MEXICAN FOOD around here, hands down. The chips that's served was seasoned and that salsa verde and hot salsa in bottles super hot and delicious! I definitely would recommend this restaurant! The reviews are true! We will definitely be coming back again!!!

We're visiting from NYC and we decided to stick to the "safe" places like Applebee's. Hate that we found this place on our last day here because we would have been here everyday!!! Just going to reiterate past Yelp reviewers, do not let the motel parking lot deter you. The chips are bomb dot com, the food, ambiance and service was great. If we ever find ourselves in Wisconsin again, we will definitely be stopping in again!!!

Quick service. Bar was fast, beer was cold. World Cup games on every tv except one. Was a bit disappointed the one TV that didn't have it on was the one facing the bar. Prices are very reasonable. Small seating, But worth it. Don't let the location or the outside appearance dissuade you from coming in. Staff is friendly and welcoming even during the lunch hour.

There is only one word that will summarize your experience at this restaurant - AMAZING. I drove past this restaurant for 6 years and never went inside due to its location being inside a motel and the looks from outside. Boy! I was WRONG. Their seasoned chips with salsa are amazing. The food is made fresh and served hot. The food is very delicious yet not very expensive at the same time. The servers are very nice as well. Outstanding experience. Would happily go there again.

It's a little divey rinky dink looking place right on-sight with a not so stellar Motel. It sounds bad. But, it's really not! They have the best tortilla chips here! They're strips and have a bit of seasoning salt on them and very thin. The food is good, decent Mexican. It's a good spot to come for lunch. They have smaller portioned and priced midday menu items. Not the kind of place you'd want to come with a large group or to see any sporting events, however. Try them out!

I've come here many times during lunch. I never have to wait for a table. The customer service is great. The margaritas are delicious and just the right amount of liquor for me. The chips and salsa starter is delicious. The food is not as good as I've been told by other people. I've had a few different lunch options here, but the quality and flavor is not amazing - it's decent. We continue to come because it's a great place to chat for long periods of time with beer and good chips.

Best Mexican restaurant I have eaten at. Drove by many times but never stopped...finally did...best thing we could have done. Been back at least once a week since. Food is always HOT(not spicy) and VERY GOOD! Prices are reasonable, waiter/waitresses are friendly and efficient. Margaritas are also great.

Excellent food and super fast service. Prices a little higher than the guy who posted a receipt but well worth it!

My favorite Mexican restaurant in Southeastern Wisconsin! Seriously! Sure, the place doesn't look like much from the outside, but the food is delicious, the prices reasonable, and service is fast. But the best part is those awesome tortilla chips. Hot and fresh, they have no equal!

I agree with the others that the chips were good. However, I think they hit you with the flavorful chips to disguise the fact that their food has zero flavor. I ordered the chicken chimichangas and I basically got fried cheese. And I LOVE cheese! (typical WI girl). But seriously, I picked apart half of the breading and pulled out what I could find of the chicken. Even eating it plain, it lacked flavor and it was mostly melted cheese. Not impressed. The beans were runny and had no flavor. What flavor I could get was of the aluminum can they probably came out of. My husband had the tostadas which we're basically mush. The atmosphere made me feel as though I really was in a motel parking lot diner. Imagine that. I guess I'm a sucker for cliche Mexican themed decorations which this place definitely lacked. I'm glad I had a coupon and only paid half price because that is about all it was worth. As I drove off my exact words were "Im so unsatisfied". I had a craving for Mexican food and this did not help. 12hrs later I still have my craving. Now...where to get Mexicna food for lunch....

We were in the area during the lunch hour and got hungry, so we tried this restaurant due to recommendations from fellow Yelpers. The atmosphere was basic, the prices reasonable, the food and service good, and they had margaritas, so I was happy. I did enjoy their piping hot seasoned-salted strips o' tortilla chips, and the green and red salsas were a nice accompaniment. Only bottled beers were available, but they had several to choose from.

I'm the biggest fun of the Mexican food so I really enjoyed their meals. However, I must say that I have eaten better Mexican food, but their crispy chips are absolutely amazing! They are crispy and fresh, which make them addicting (at least to me). They serve them with two types of salsa sauce, which is also really good. Me and my friend ended up eating way too much chips before the main dish came. They also serve alcoholic beverages. They offer wide variety of beers to choose from and also they serve DELICIOUS margaritas. The food itself is also pleasing, I had tacos and they tasted good. Service is also friendly and helpful. The overall experience was fine. Recommended for Mexican food lovers!

I always seem to have good Mexican food at places that serve horchata. This places serves horchata and was no exception. The fried tortilla strips are served with a nice red salsa and a green salsa. The red one has a nice kick to it. Nothing great, but enough to get the taste buds going.I tried a chicken taco, shrimp taco, and a chile rellano. The tacos came with some avocado slices, lettuce and onions. Everything was very tasty. Given how close this place is to my current work assignment, I suspect I will be going back again for some more horchata and trying some other items off the menu.

Never expected this little place to be so good. We were in the area so gave it a try. Chips were crisp and warm. Salsa served in a squirt bottle which seemed a little odd but it was worked out well and was tasty. It was not too hot for me; some ppl may think not hot enough to be Mexican food. i liked it. My enchilada was good. The rice seemed a little dry. We asked for and received more chips. some places are so touchy about that Service was good and prices reasonable.

Been there about 5 times in the past 2 years. Chips are always amazing and hot and fresh and tasty. Salsas are great too, I love green salsa and you can't always find it. Enchiladas are very good and tacos too. Service is pretty fast and its usually packed. Inside atmosphere is decent enough, outside it looks out of place near the motel. I agree with others, its a great little gem hidden on 27th street. I would put them near the top for Mexican in the Milwaukee area

Went for a late lunch with my husband and his parents. Never judge a book by its cover! We drove by this place thinking it was not going to be that great considering where it was located. After reading other reviews here we opted to give it a try. Good choice! Chips were fresh and warm, service was good as was the food. And a great value! They did run out of an item we ordered but offered a replacement. Then when they received the item they brought it out as well with no extra charge. We will definitely be going back!

There's nothing like eating someone else's chips with hot sauce on them. I didn't notice until I was half done with them. Otherwise food was ok, I had enchiladas. Way too much cheese. I will not return.

I walked in on Friday night and this place was packed! We were lucky to get a corner table - the last one that was available. I got a combo platter that was pretty dang good. The table salsa is also very tasty - especially the green stuff. The tortilla strips are nice and hot when they hit the table, too. Our waiter was very nice and fairly prompt considering how many people were in the restaurant. If you're in the Franklin area and like Mexican food, give this place a shot.

Best Mexican food I've had in years (enchiladas w/beef). Prompt and friendly service. The information claims it's quiet; we ate on a Friday night, when the place was packed and too noisy.

We wound up here because the Irish joint up the road was too crowded. Really? The day before St. Patrick's Day, and people went to an Irish bar/restaurant? Who would have seen that coming?? So up the road we went... I'd heard a rumor the cook used to work for the old Acapulco restaurant on National Avenue. So I was hoping for their infamous salsa. Nope. It was good, but not what I'd hoped for. More than one reviewer mentioned the chips. They are the best I've had! I think they make them as you order, they were warm. I had a combination platter with a chimichanga, an enchilada and something else that I cannot remember. It was really just OK, with the chicken in the enchilada reminding me of tuna, due to being shredded. Service was excellent. I would go back, but I'd order something else.

6/7/13. Thanks to the other Yelpers for the heads up about the 'in the motel parking lot' location. I can guarantee I would not have stopped here if it wasn't for the high ratings. I had a combo that included a cheese quesadilla, a pork taco and a beef enchilada. AWESOME slightly seasoned chip strips - 5 STARS. I enjoyed the cheese quesadilla and the rice (4 STARS) the most. Everything else was just ok (2 STARS). It's too bad, I had very high hopes for this place but I wouldn't rush back :-(

I found this place by chance as I was on my way to Chicago. I am so glad I did! For some credibility, I will just let you know that I am from Southern California and consider myself an expert on good Mexican cuisine. The salsa verde and chips that they give you before the meal are basically enough to warrant five stars for this place. It is seriously the best salsa verde I have ever had. The chips were piping hot and salted with seasoned salt. Divine. I went on a Thursday and got the beef chimichanga special for $7.95. So good. Plenty of beef and cheese inside, and so flavorful. The beans and rice were good as well. I wouldn't say it is the most authentic- didn't see any street tacos or menudo on the menu, and nothing had queso fresco. I also didn't see any el pastor or carnitas. But I wasn't looking too hard, so I am open to correction. But the quality and flavor still gets it 5 stars in my book! Don't be put off by the outside- it's basically in a motel parking lot. The inside is actually quite charming. Service was friendly and fast. It is moderately priced for Mexican food, but not too much is over $12. Highly recommended!

Tiny restaurant located off the beaten path on 27th just south of Rawson - if you blink you'll miss it. Went on Sunday night and it was busy - a dozen tables in the entire place and maybe 4 were empty. Good sign --- service was prompt. Chips were served HOT and FRESH out of the fryer -- excellent! -- the way they should be! Two choices of salsa in squeeze bottle (Red mild - and Green Chile with some zing) Both very good -- having an option was a plus. Pretty standard menu. I had the enchiladas with pork and chicken. Not oversized portions, but very good and fresh. Came with red sauce (which is not always the case) My friend had the Huevas Papas which she enjoyed - large portion served with choice of corn or flour tortillas. Overall very nice hidden gem -- nice to have a good mexican meal without driving downtown.

This was great find! Love the salsa, love the food, and everyone can thank me for fixing the spelling on the sign in the batheroom. There is a lot to love about this little place!

The first time I was in this place I was thinking, what did I get myself into? It's very small and very generic but it was packed so that's a good sign. The food came and it was fantastic! I had the big quesadilla and it was definitely big. Chips are good and they give you 2 different salsas that are in squeeze bottles (like ketchup and mustard bottles) Weird Servers are not the most friendly but the food is really good and reasonably priced. Kind of a hidden gem amongst the vacant motels on 27th St. Don't let the scenery fool ya.

The restaurant is in a tiny building in the middle of the no-tell motels on south 27th street. The place is a low tech, minimal decor, cozy restaurant run by really nice people. The food is not bad, cheaply priced, a good value. They have that same chunky beef that looks like Alpo dog food in a can but they add enough spice to make up for that average fare. They slice their tortilla chips into strips which makes them easier to eat. Their salsa, especially the green salsa is very good. And the margaritas are good and reasonably priced as well. It's worth a trip for a cheap night out, especially if you order the specials.

The food was amazing. The prices are reasonable, and the service is quick and friendly. This seemingly inconspicuous restaurant offers the best Mexican cuisine in the Milwaukee area (yes even better than Taco Bell, or the deceased Taco City). For starters, they bring out a bowl of crispy chips with two types of salsa. The food is fresh and the chips are bottomless. Enjoy!!

Little Cancun simply has the best Mexican food in the area. Their tacos are great, particularly with the soft shell. and their enchiladas are great. Their chips and salsa are wonderful. Service is top notch and the prices are very reasonable.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
