Haveli Restaurant

Reviews:
Haveli is exactly A-OK! It is the closest Indian restaurant to my place, and serves good Indian food. If I cannot make it out to Dhaba or Minerva- it works. But it is not my go to Indian restaurant. As people have noted it is similar to Dhaba in ambiance but falls short in the flavor. The comparison is natural because their menu is extremely similar too but Haveli has a a lunch buffet. The service is always good as well. So overall is works but you don't have to go out of your way to get to it either.
This place was pretty good! We stopped in with a part of 13 on a Friday night and they accommodated us perfectly! They had a very expansive menu. For their dinner they do not offer the buffet, however it is open everyday for lunch. My girlfriend had the Shabu Paneer which was bomb. I had the goat meat curry which was pretty good. They have a spice level from 1-6. I had a 4 which was exactly what I wanted, just enough kick to leave a little spicy in your tongue. I could have withstood more but I was pleased. Since I'm close this will be my new Indian spot.
Food is ok. No halal option and they seem to get annoyed if you ask ! I used to go when they were nicer.

I'm surprised that a restaurant within a grocery store would be this good. Its proximity to the Fitchburg AMC has helped to make this our go-to for premovie dining. They also have great specials for football games and so for non-night games (because they unfortunately close at 10pm) we've also been staying there for the games. I've been there about 9 or 10 times and rarely get the same thing every time but their food has been consistently excellent. What really knocked it out of the park for me was their brunch. They have a wide array of standard brunch fare, they carve prime rib, make omelettes to order, and if that isn't enough you can order items from their kitchen and their sushi / Asian food section. My wife was absolutely crazy about unlimited mimosas for $9, as well. The execution isn't flawless -- when you're making so many different things you're going to have a weak spot here or there (for example -- their chicken strips were very dry the last time I had them) but on the whole I've been very impressed with their consistency, quality, and their value.
One word - brunch! $15 per person (check your mail for a bogo coupon if you live in the area). The restaurant area is separated from the grocery side and is very nice and clean. Lots of tables/booths. On a typical brunch day (not Easter), they have: - Standard breakfast items (scrambled eggs, bacon, French toast sticks, waffles, etc.) - if you like potatoes, you have to check out their hybrid mashed potato/hashbrown creation which is super delish!! It's my favorite of the breakfast items. Make sure you get them while they're hot. - Station for eggs benedict - fruit area/small desserts (check out the mini eclairs - so good) - The entire salad bar - Asian food section (good, not great - save your appetite for other things) - Italian food section - Gelato (!!!!) - Dessert area (!!!!!!!!!!). Full sized pie and cake slices. Save room for this or you will be disappointed. When I'm feeling extra fancy I will be springing for the unlimited mimosas - at $9, that's a good price.
I really love this place. The food is always delicious and the service is always friendly. The price for the meals is fantastic. Brunch: $15 for buffet. $9 unlimited mimosa. The whole experience is fantastic. After 8pm, 1/2 off appetizers and tap beers. Please and thank you. Need to eat and do a quick grocery stop? Easy!

True Coffee Roasters

6250 Nesbitt Rd
Fitchburg, 53719
Reviews:
True Roasters on Nesbitt is one of my favorite places to go for cappuccino. The coffee used for this delectable drink is so fresh and so expertly roasted. If you need a gift for a coffee person, you really can't go wrong with a freshly roasted pound of French Roast or Sumatra! The staff is very friendly and the coffee is amazing.
I drove 15 minutes to come here after reading all of the positive reviews, and being a coffee roaster myself I was excited to find another potentially great cafe in Madison. I tried the Fair Trade Peruvian that they had brewed and was really disappointed. It was very weak and bitter, and left a rancid aftertaste like they hadn't cleaned the carafe enough. The employees working were extra friendly, but that didn't make up for the bad coffee. A cafe with calling itself True Coffee Roasters should make a stronger effort to serve great coffee, not diner-grade drip.
Stopped in today for my first visit. I came in for some coffee to accompany my time to research an upcoming trip. The space is very bright and open. Lots of seating choices including some big comfy chairs. There is a small children's play area too. There is also a patio with plenty of tables outside-though given its location, there's not much to look at. They offer the standard coffeehouse drink options and a decent size selection of food (breakfast sandwiches, soups, sandwiches). I didn't get anything to eat so can't speak to that but my iced coffee was excellent. And bonus-they have the liquid cane sugar stuff. Yahoo! Goes great with iced coffee to avoid the all the sugar granules sitting at the bottom of my cup problem. Service was quick and friendly. The tables weren't very clean and I had to clear some crumbs off the one I choose to sit at-hence the lack of five stars. Throwback 80s music of a wide variety was playing at the perfect volume. Great little place with excellent iced coffee. I will be back!

Update: The Morning Bun is divine and made my morning extra happy. That's all.
Good selection of lunch or dinner offerings. Nice range of local beers and excellent range of wines. WiFi is free but can get slow when everyone shows up with a laptop. Usually enough space to sit but can be crowded around lunch some days. Easy parking. Friendly staff though there's a bit of turnover. Fireplace is nice in the winter.
I visit the Fitchburg location at least once a week and the staff is great. Where else can you find such a great selection of wines for under $10? The staff has always gone above and beyond for me - whether it be putting together a wine basket, expediting my order because I'm in a hurry or making great wine recommendations.

I love this place. I usually go about every other day. Today was my 16th visit. Great reasonable prices. Great service. Great products. A very diverse menu with soo much to choose from. Wether you are looking for a meal replacement, an after workout drink, an energy pick me up, or just wanting to trim some pounds. They have litterally anything to your hearts desire. For vegetarians and vegans both they even have smoothie categories to choose from for you! Bring the kids they have choices for the little smoothie enthusiasts. I only have had one very minor bad experience by one of their regular employees. However , great news about that is I brought that to the Store Manager's attention the very next day and he went above and beyond my expectations on resolving the issue. Again great truly exceptional service. Don't ever second guess stopping in, they are not your typical smoothie at the mall kind of shop. Smoothie King Fitchburg is THE BEST smoothie store in all of the Madison area. Stop by next time your passing through the south side of Fitchburg =)
Good variety of delicious smoothies! Tip: You can order your smoothie "skinny" which means they don't add sweetener. According to the nutrition guide, this saves you 100 calories and 24 grams of sugar.
They make smoothies. Can a smoothie ever be bad?

I love this place! I recently moved in the area, and saw this place as I was driving by. I decided to stop and give it a try. I'm very happy I did. The food and service here was great. Is this a fancy sit down restaurant? No it is not. Is the service and food good? Yes, it absolutely is. Keep up the great work!
Coming from enjoying teriyaki places that sprinkle the Pacific Northwest I was excited to see this place! While my expectations were low it fits the bill for strip mega meals. I got a lot of food. A lot of so so food. It wasn't like it was bad. But it wasn't broiled or chared enough for my liking. The sauce was decent but a little on the salty side. I ordered the two piece crab Rangoon for funsies but was charged for two orders of crab Rangoon. Being shy I didn't say anything when I didn't understand the price I was told so I handed the man my credit card. Then I saw the receipt for 15! I though dear god I am going to be stuck with so many left overs. Then another man came over and asked if I wanted two orders of the Rangoon and I said well I wanted the two piece order. He said do you want me to take this back? I was like no I paid for both so I want both now lol
Seems to be a small hole in the wall with good food. I took this place as a "fast food sushi house". Nothing fact about this place...just decent sushi. If your looking for something quick and good, this is the place. It does have a small limited menu.

Dairy Queen

Queue "Glory Days" by the Boss. Yes, back in high school I was killing it behind the counter of my local DQ. Things were simpler back then...we made dilly bars and fudge nut bars (do they even have those anymore?) in house and we were happy about our "brazier" moniker. Now, the term "grill and chill" is all the rage and you can order a orange julius to go along with your dairy treats. What hasn't changed is my lust for blizzards. Not every day/week or month but on a warm summer night when I throw my diet out the window, the blizzard works everytime. The staff is pleasant at this location and drive-thru is efficient. What more can I say?
This Dairy Queen has always provided accurate orders and great service, it's a little small in size though. I don't get her often, but when I do I order the chicken tenders basket. It's the best thing on the menu. Great Service Fair Prices Great Ice Cream
I'm surprised this place has gotten mediocre reviews. I used to be a total Blizzard fanatic, visiting every Dairy Queen in the Madison area (and, OK, wherever I traveled around the states, which I do a lot). This Dairy Queen, and the one in Sun Prairie, are tied for number 1 anywhere. This Dairy Queen, on Fish Hatch in Fitchburg, has a great, fast, friendly staff. The Blizzards are great. It is not in the greatest neighborhood (at least for the Madison area), which I guess makes it stand out even more. Highly recommended.

Great Dane Pub

2980 Cahill Main
Fitchburg, 53711
Reviews:
The Great Dane is definitely a place to check out in Madison (with multiple locations). They offer excellent options that you probably won't find elsewhere. The low country shrimp/andouille sausage/ham and cheddar grits is amazing! I also love their fried plantains! I've only had one entree that I didn't care for, the grilled cheese sandwich. However, they were more than happy to bring me a different dish. The two downfalls of their restaurant are that they can be very busy and the atmosphere very loud (people and music). Otherwise, definitely check it out for some great American and internationally-inspired food.
I had such a great time here! We were a party of 8 and they sat us almost immediately for sunday brunch. They have a huge all you can eat, self service, brunch buffet that does not lack in quality. It included such food items as: mashed potatoes, shrimp, waffles, bacon, sausage links, fresh fruit, a carvery, salad, cakes, pancakes, and much more. They were also serving their late night pub menu which we ordered a few apps and burgers off of. Their cheese curds were tasty but were not really cheese curds, they were more of mozzarella sticks in the shape of balls. The burgers were tasty and came with some cool toppings but I thought the bun could have been more dense and flavorful. The two best parts of this establishment for me was the games (I played billiards and shuffle board) and the service. Juliette was my server and she was absolutely amazing. She is incredibly sweet and made sure we had everything we needed to fully enjoy our dining experience. She even split up our bill for us which I know is a pain to do especially for a large party.
Great burgers, great beers. Never disappointed. & if you get a chance to try their black & tan cheddar burger . And if you're a mustard fan you must try their pilsner mustard. Ask for a side... You'll want to dip your fries in it! Believe it or not, root beer isn't very good there-too syrupy with no root beer "bite".

Quivey’s Grove

Reviews:
Highlights/Lowlights 1) great food 2) nice/unique ambience 3) friendly service Quiveys Grove is so fun! Two different restaurants on the same property. One, the more casual "Stable Grill". The second, the more formal "Stone House". We had the pleasure of dining at the Stone House tonight! You are quite literally eating in a stone house which makes the ambience really unique. I called ahead to confirm the time of our reservation (since I forgot oops!) and the lady on the phone was quite short and rude. However our server was SO friendly. She was attentive to our table and we didn't wait long for any of our courses. Quite honestly the courses almost came too quickly! I had taken the last bite of my soup when my entree showed up. Menu items "honored" various people (Mostly Wisconsinites) which I found really clever! How often is it that you can say your dinner is in honor of Aldo Leopoldo for example? There was a spring cocktail menu which was appreciated. Always nice to see Wisco establishments embracing what little spring we have. We had the cheese raven appetizer to start which is essentially Quivey's take on cheese fondue featuring locally sourced sausage. I had trout and he had the schnitzel for the main and neither of us left disappointed. The parm potato casserole side that came with mine ROCKED! If you haven't been to Quivey's, stop by to one of there unique restaurants. You won't be disappointed!
The baked cod was super overcooked. I don't consider myself a fish connoisseur, but even I could tell that this fish was not cooked properly. The battered cod however was impressionable. There is always the fear that beer battered foods will be too greasy. I didn't get that at all from the fish. Also, the waiter kept talking about how great the potato is, but to be honest, it tasted as if they had just heated it up...not cool. Although, everything was reasonably priced and the service was decent, I am still not sure if I will be returning. Then again, I love to forgive and forget.
I have lived in Madison for a few years and I have heard nothing but good things about Quivey's. I can not help but be completely underwhelmed. I ate in the Stone House because it takes reservations. I ordered a pork dish. It is not on their menu online. I was intrigued by it because I had not seen it previously. It came with an apple cider cream sauce. The pork was wrapped in bacon. My dinner was $21.95. I was completely cheated. I was given two pieces of pork, smaller than a 50 cent piece. They were juicy with a great flavor. However, they were small bites. This was not a dinner portion. I was told my dinner was served with croquettes (plural). I received one. And it was cold. The largest portion to my plate was fried apple. It took up 50% of the plate. If I could have walked out, I would have. If this is what they call dinner, I would hate to see anything else on the menu.
