We were drawn in by the solid reviews on Yelp. It was a good stop. It was exactly what you'd expect from a small town diner. Nice dining room FILLED on a weekday night with a smattering of locals and regulars plus us. SERVICE was FANTASTIC. The food & the prices were just as good.

Stopped here on our way back home from Madison. Good food, nice staff. Didn't expect this place to be hi tech, but the waitresses use IPads to take your order....Will come back!

Small town diner filled with senior citizens and locals. Plenty of home town charm and very reasonable prices with large portions. My dad liked the eggs and sausage and I usually get waffles. This time I tried the biscuits and gravy which were fine. I was also surprised on my most recent visit to see them using tablet computers instead of the classic green pad and pen to take orders. The older waitresses seemed to still be getting the hang of the things and it would have probably been quicker the old way, but they told me it actually saved time in that there were several steps removed in getting orders into the kitchen. When we checked out (at the desk by the way) a young man (probably the tech guy) actually scanned the bill so it is one big integrated system. Nifty.

While staying in Janesville my husband and I looked for a place to have breakfast. We used Yelp and found this place. Not to far away and so glad we went. This restaurant is the perfect small town place. The staff were all courteous and friendly. The menu had so many good items to choose from. I chose the country fried steak and eggs. Awesome is all I can say. My toast came with homemade rhubarb jam. Yum! My husband ordered one of the breakfast skillets and was not disappointed. Thank you for a great dining experience.

What a great family owned restaurant! We used to come by here almost every weekend. Ray, and his family are always there. Always friendly. Always helpful. Great food. Great managers. Although, since visiting its been a few years (I moved away) but if I had the chance to return to small-town Edgerton, you better believe that I would stop by not only for the food, but to say hello to the owners! My fiance would always get his usual- eggs scrambled, hash browns, bacon, and toast. He would normally request his eggs to be more cooked- in which they accommodated everytime! I'm not a big breakfast/ eggs fan, but I LOVE their biscuits and gravy. Oh that their Alaskan Waffle... HUGE Belgian waffle, fresh sliced strawberries, Ice Cream and whip cream... seriously?! Delicious! Great Place! I definitely miss it. Ureem, IIir, and Ray, great job!

A friend and I stopped by Ray's for breakfast on our way to O'Hare (this marks the end of our Midwest adventure). Service was great (friendly and attentive). The ambiance was very familial :). The food was good (better than a meal at a chain restaurant) and the price was reasonable. We got a couple of coffees, which were good (...and that's coming from fans of Starbucks), French toast, a couple egg whites, an extra side of sausage, biscuits with gravy and 1 regular egg for about $25.

We came here for breakfast. I once again ordered my favorite breakfast item, the breakfast burrito. Something was different this time. I didn't recognize anyone working there, and the food was still great, but slightly different. I seem to remember the breakfast burrito a little larger than the one I got this morning. No to go box was needed. I asked about the waitresses I knew and about the owners. I was told that there were new owners. I almost would not have known. The quality and service here is still A-1. I still enjoyed the breakfast burrito. We will be back for sure.

Recently bought a cottage in the area. We have been looking for a good fish fry. Tried several of the local supper clubs and have been disappointed. Last night we figured we would try Ray's. We have been there for breakfast and lunch and have enjoyed it so we thought why not.. We were not disappointed. Some of the best fish we have had anywhere. Huge portion, not overly breaded. Crisp on the outside flaky cod on the inside. Full of flavor. We will definitely be back for dinner. Soups are hit or miss. The clam chowder was so so. The French onion si WAY too salty. The homemade strawberry rhubarb jam is fantastic.

Went here with my aunt, uncle, sister and her fiance. Well actually, I have been going here for a long time until I moved. The Alaskan waffle is about the only thing you need to worry about here..... it is so good you will be coming back everyday for it. I always get mine with blueberries. So for those who don't know what it is, it is a nice big waffle with your choice of fruit, topped with whipped cream, and ice cream. No matter what you order, you're pretty sure to be happy with it.

We stopped here while traveling west on I 90 after reading a few of the reviews on Yelp. Well worth the short jaunt into Edgerton. Food was excellent with extensive menu to choose from. Service topnotch. Pleasant decor and atmosphere. Full bar available. Will definitely plan to stop here our next time through.

We're on a road trip from San Francisco to New Hampshire and were searching for dinner around the Madison area. We stopped at Ray's on a whim getting off the highway. There were a good number of cars there for a Tuesday night. Our waitress was amazingly friendly. We were stunned at the prices being so low! (Is that normal for WI??) We had drinks, an app, salads, dinner, and dessert.. 3 people.. Less than $50 including tip!! Free wifi was a big plus after being on the road for a few days. Looked very clean, everyone was very friendly. It was so great to stop somewhere non-fast food and have it be delicious! This was the best dinner choice we made between San Fran and WI!

Rays has amazing homemade jam that they give you when you order a breakfast with toast. I would go there just to order toast. The rest of the menu is okay. Doesn't cater to an expanded clientele, but has the basics. The restaurant is typically busy, which gives it a pleasant atmosphere.

Stopped here on the way to Madison...listened to fellow yelper reviews and glad I did..I had the bisquits & gravy which was good. Great cheese curds too!!

We stopped at Ray's on our way to Chicago, and we certainly picked correctly! When you're on the road food can be a bit of a crapshoot, even with assistance from Yelp, but this place really impressed. I had over easy eggs and the corned beef hash, along with hash browns and toast. The quality of the food was outstanding and much better than I would've even hoped for, considering this was a random place that we chose after pulling off the freeway. The service was also very good even though they were busy, and the coffee hardly lacked for a refill. I don't recall what my girlfriend had, perhaps an omelette, but I know she was very pleased as well. The amazing thing about Ray's is that it's one of those rare places that you remember for being good long after the fact. So, I had to chime in and give it a shout-out. Nice work, Ray's!!

This small town restaurant had it together more than any big chain family restaurant. From the service all the way to the food everything was perfect. The waitress took our order on an iPad and was able to tell what was in stock. The appetizers were out in minutes (deep fried mushrooms) and were excellent. My wife and I both had a New York strip and was awesome. The price even included onions and mushrooms and was only $16. Our waitress was outstanding and the manager came to our table to see how everything was. We had an excellent experience at Rays and highly recommend it to anyone else

Lots of Delicious Food. I had the Greek Chicken $10.00 for half of a chicken, a good salad, sauteed veggie medley, potato AND lite desert. Great bargain, food and service.

Ray's is a lovely, small-town breakfast, lunch and dinner type restaurant with quality food for a fair price. We dropped in for a late breakfast on our way to Minnesota. I can't remember if we got crepes, waffles or pancakes, but they came with strawberry sauce and a sweet cream cheese. Clearly it wasn't a very memorable item for me. I wasn't very impressed and could have done without the calories. However, the omelet I ordered was very good. It was packed full of fresh veggies and cheddar cheese. The only problem was that I had ordered feta cheese. They quickly remedied the situation by brining out a giant brick of feta and didn't charge us for it.

Decent diner for the area. Nothing like the ones from home in New Jersey, but good for what you'll find around here. Good prices for tasty food. Nothing to blow your socks off but will appease your hunger.

We went here one late evening and they were getting ready to close up. We didn't have a problem going somewhere else, but they said they would be happy to serve us. Rather reluctantly we stayed, because I know how quality can diminish when everyone is ready to go home for the night. But we were absolutely thrilled that we did. Everyone there from the host, to the server, to the cook were nice, welcoming, cheerful, and created an absolutely pleasant atmosphere. The only thing that was better than the service was the food and the price. I got the veal and my wife got the club sandwich. Absolutely delicious! I would have never guessed that they were getting ready to close if I didn't know better. We have been back there since and had the same quality and service as before. Ray's has become our go-to restaurant and would like to recommend them to anyone in the Madison area. (Not all the best restaurants are in Madison!) Give em a shot. You won't be disappointed.

Just a short drive off of the highway, Ray's was just what we expected. Good food, nice staff and a quick in and out on the road.

I may be a simpleton when it comes to my taste in food, but I'll tell you this was one of the best breakfasts ever. Steak Skillet as recommended by server--A #1 excellent. Beautifully seasoned, big chunks of real steak, redskins, shrooms, onions, Pancakes loaded with real blueberries--no canned pie filling. The flavors, quality, everything . . . just great. Like another reviewer commented, it was a short side trip off the interstate while on a road trip and I'd do it again if anywhere near the area.

Great service, good food, over priced! I would only recommend going here for breakfast. Lunch and dinner are so-so. Breakfast is good, but overpriced for your typical greasy spoon breakfast joint. The waitresses for breakfast are very good!! Extremely friendly and personable! The dinner waitresses are not very good-- tend to be high school girls with horrible people skills.

Excellent atmosphere, but not the best breakfast food - hash browns were a bit burnt and so were the English muffins in my eggs Benedict :( but it sounds like the other menu items are better though!! Perhaps if I'm in the area I'll try their other lunch/dinner options.

Ray's is a great place. They are probably at about 4.5 stars. The menu is extensive you can always get something you want without having to drive to Janesville or Madison. The prices are very reasonable. The servers are very good, above what I would expect in a small town. My favorites are the breakfasts, and the customized burgers like Pizza and Olive.

Came here for breakfast on Father's Day and while they said there would be a wait, we were seated within 5 minutes and had food within 15. I had the corned beef hash, with 2 eggs and hash browns. Delicious! My husband had a ham egg and cheese skilltet and loved it. We have been to Ray's before the new ownership took over and heard mixed reviews so we were nervous to try it, but it was great and for under 20 bucks, can't beat it!

I can't visit the area without coming to Ray's for breakfast - skillet choices are very good as well as pancakes and pretty much everything else. All non-smoking now so that's a huge improvement as well. Only place I have seen someone order bisucuits and gravy as an appetizer!!!

Shortly after moving to town, this became our go-to restaurant. After more than a year we still eat here at least once a week, usually more. They have great food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. My favorite dish is probably the grilled cheese, which is just two pieces of bread and some processed cheese, but it is done perfectly. For breakfast, the omelets are great (just wish they didn't all come with hash-browns). Everything you could want from this type of restaurant.

we have breakfast at Ray's about three times a week and dinner occasionally. It is entirely non smoking. The food is consistent and there are large portions. I don't even mind that the hash browns are probably the world's worst and come with almost everything on the breakfast menu.
