Pleasant Ridge (a.k.a. "The Ridge," "P-Ridge," "Tred's House") is bar none one of the best bars you've probably never heard of. It's a 100+ year-old converted general store at the intersection of County Z and ZZ in Dodgeville, run by a cool cat named Charley. On any given day, there might be a line of Harleys in the front, horses tied up out back, and a really cool crowd of people from all over packed into the bar. As for specifics, it's a beer bar, so don't come looking for mixed drinks, but you can get one of the tastiest pints of Guinness you'll ever have (yes, WAY better than most Irish pubs). Charley keeps a couple Lake Louie brews on tap, too, and just added Spotted Cow. For eats, the Ridge serves breakfast (try the Texas Egg Sandwich) and lunch (go for the Ridgeburger). Charley also books some seriously good bands, including the Raindogs, the Amoreys, Screamin' Gene and the Lake Louie Growlers, Better Daze, Dealin' and others. Bands either play in the bar or from the outdoor stage, depending on weather. The Ridge is such a cool place I hesitate to tell you about it, but it's too good not to share. You should check it out. You can find the Ridge on Facebook by searching for "Fans of the Pleasant Ridge Store."
Pleasant Ridge is unique. A great place to have a burger, chicken sandwich, fried green beans and a good beer. I have some updates and comments to add to the earlier review. They still have 2 Lake Louie's and Guinness on tap, and rotate good beers on the other taps. They also have a good selection of bottles. In addition to Harley's or horses you might also find a pub crawl bus or a pack of bicycles in the parking lot, everyone is welcome. They have added an ATM, and have Wi-Fi. In addition to breakfast (weekends only) and lunch, the grill is open for dinner. It seems to vary how late they keep the grill open, so it may be a good idea to call if it is past 7:00. Wednesday is $2 burger night, but only burgers / appetizers are available then. They are closed on Monday's. Pleasant Ridge is definitely off the beaten path, but well worth the trip.
Was there for the ribs on a Thursday night.Ordered the full rack(knowing full well I would need a doggy bag for the half I could not eat)absolutely wonderful as was the cheesy cowboy potatoes.Cooked so tender,it was hard to keep the meat anywhere near the bones. The wife is not a ribs fan(why are we still married?)but they cooked a cheeseburger for her.

Awesome place. The desserts were huge and worth every cent. They have an awesome wall of teas. They were very accommodating when I called my order in for 10 people.
I was hoping to give a better review. Maybe it was just an off night? I'll definitely try again in the hopes that they just weren't on their game for whatever reason. *Tablecloth had food on it - perhaps not changed out after lunch? *Soup was flavorful, but lukewarm *My entrée was good - no major issues there I was kind of bummed - expected a lot more based on the other reviews.
What a Great find! Staff was so sweet and the food was very good. I tried the Tuscany panini which was cook to perfection. Will definitely return, can't wait to stop again. Yum!

We arrived at Country Kitchen at about 12:45 today and were told about the Sunday breakfast Buffett that was restocked until 1. When I went to order that our waitress told me that the Buffett was taken down for the day and I couldn't order it. We ordered off the menu and after our food was delivered our waitress started sweeping the dining room and never came back to check on us again. We were completely finished with our meal for at least 5 minutes before she came back and said 'You don't want anything more do you!' It was more like a statement than a question and set our bill down and walked away. It will be a VERY LONG TIME before we visit this Country Kitchen again. The food was nothing special, the prices high for quantity of food and service was UNACCEPTABLE !!!
Very nice place. Good food, big portions. Varied breakfast selections and reasonable prices. Service was good with friendly staff.
We were in the area and stopped here for breakfast. The service was great and the food was good!

We went there once when we first moved here. ..was not impressed. ..food at buffet was cool and not so fresh. ..we went back a couple years later. ..still the same unimpressive atmosphere but this time the food is much much better...we had take out and were pleasantly surprised. ..the shrimp were ginormous and everything was fresh...just don't expect great service with the great food and you are ok.
The Food was horrible!!! The food was sitting out way to long as you had to scrape it off the pan. I DO NOT recommend this place. Golden Crown get it together or get out of my town.
