This is a great Italian place. You will need reservations. Opens at 5 pm. There were 4 in our party and we each ordered something different. We started with the spinach and sausage with garlic appetizer. Very good. I got the Rigatoni Basilica which was outstanding. My wife got the chicken parmesan and said it was the best she had ever had. One friend ordered the MaMa Mia. I think that was the name of it. It was steak and shrimp with potato's and some vegtables, I am not sure what our other friend got, but she said it was delicious also, All the meals were very good and all had plenty to eat. Desert was also fantastic. I think this place is excellent on food, good service, and reasonably priced. Most of the dishes are priced between $15 and $25. Real Italian Cooking at its best.

Sweet Aroma's location might feel a little "in the middle of nowhere" but it draws crowds craving some home-cooked Italian staples for a reason! The atmosphere is a little kitschy with leaves, vines, old school family photos, and lights serving as the main decor, but the food is tasty and the service is good. We arrived a little early for our reservation, so we had a drink in the bar. There were a fair amount of seats at the bar and a good selection of mixed drinks, wine, and beers. Overall, a good space to accommodate waiting patrons and the bartender was friendly and efficient. The menu features a good array of homemade Italian staples. We tried the Spinach Abruzzo appetizer (sausage + spinach) and it was enough for a good sampling for a family of 5. It was light, but heavy on the garlic (date nighters beware!) and a good complement to the bread provided on the table. The bread was crusty and fresh and refilled plentifully throughout our meal. No fresh parm on the table though, just the canned stuff. Our family of five tried a variety of dishes - fettucini alfredo, Tuscan chicken, Pasta Mona Lisa, Chicken Salerno, and a seafood pasta dish that was on special. Everyone's portion was huge & everyone enjoyed their dinner. The chef even accommodated my craving for fettucini alfredo, which wasn't on the menu, but he happily put together. It wasn't the best alfredo I've ever had, but it hit the spot in a pinch. Our meals were also served with a large family style salad and minestrone soup. The salad was crisp and fresh, but not a huge portion for sharing among five people. The minestrone soup was the low point of the meal - it tasted like it came out of a can and was topped with shreds of mozzarella cheese. Waste of space! The service was a little intense for my tastes. Towards the end of the meal, it felt like our dishes were being swept away before we could even finish our bites and put our forks down. The staff was so intent on picking up empty dishes that it felt a little vulture-like. I also really dislike when restaurants clear the dishes of patrons who have finished eating while others are still enjoying their meal. I appreciate their attentiveness, but give our family a little space to enjoy!

Sad. The owner actually told us that we didn't have to come back that there's other places around! We went on Friday 9.18.2015 for a fish fry. Our friends were told the night before that the potatoe pancakes that accompany the fish fry are homemade. Well, tonight when we ordered, the pancakes look like the hashbrowns from McDonald's, all pre-formed. They were hard on the outside and like mashed potatoes on the inside. The fried fish was hard with little fish inside. When we questioned the owner about the food, his response was "We're an Italian restaurant trying fish frys." He didn't even try to replace or comp the food. Since he's already invited us not to come back we won't since there are TONS of places that have better fish ftys, even churches. Should have gone there tonight.

Family Italian menu in an intimate setting - definitely one of the best in the area. My husband and I were looking for a date night spot while our daughter could stay with grandpa nearby. This place did not disappoint. We sat at a wonderful little table by the fire and they had cozy Christmas decorations up. Biggest advice: come hungry! In true Wisconsin fashion, there is plenty of food. Bread with marinara (super yummy), soup AND salad are all included with any entree which makes everything a superior value. Pasta dishes in particular are hefty portions. For the gluten-free or carb-conscious, I had a nice chicken dish on a bed of spinach and green beans. My husband on the other hand indulged in the lasagna with meat sauce. A few nits that would help bring out the full romantic vibe potential of the place. Our server looked like a deer in headlights when my husband asked about the Italian wines on the list. I know wine and Wisconsin aren't a common combo, but either the menu could have a few tasting notes or the severs should have a bullet or two. Second, the other sever was super friendly and a good server - however just take the volume down a notch so the other tables don't hear the whole conversation. Overall, we will be back and really appreciate a quality place like this in the area!

After all the rave reviews I think I'll be real environment was nice staff was friendly food was decent not all it's cracked up to be though. They do not make their own pasta although they will tell you everything there is made from scratch. And my colleague believes the minestrone soup was from a can. Overall I would eat there again but nothing to write home to mom about.

Sweet Aroma was amazingly accommodating for our large family group last minute. The owner John went out of his way to prepare homemade chicken tenders for our son with a milk allergy! Just incredible food and wonderful service. Can't wait to make our way back !

Excellent food. Excellent service. Great selection. Very reasonable prices. Pasta came with soup and salad which were both outstanding. Didn't even want to try the deserts since they looked awesome. Probably the bear restaurant I've been to within 50 miles of the lakes area.

I love this place! The food is great. I had Chicken Francese and it was amazing. The service is always outstanding. Its very small so call ahead. The only downside - Get here by 815pm or the owner makes you feel uncomfortable with his comments and mean looks. But I have to say its worth the uncomfortable feeling to get such good food. Check it out it the best food around the entire area.

Great Italian food, especially for the area. Small, intimate, and cozy. While the food is traditional Italian, the portions are not. Fortunately, you will not leave hungry!

A must try! Bartender knows how to make a drink! I have eaten in many Italian restaurants in many different cities and this is the top of my list. Great for date night. I saw people in various states of dress, so casual is okay, but it is definitely still white linen type of restaurant, with staff and food to match.

Everything is great! Have been seeking good food in the Lake Geneva area for a while and lucked across this fine establishment. Ordered the lasagna and it came with a magnificent soup along with a salad. All together very reasonably priced.

We really wish we could give this a better rating but there was way too much to make it a bad experience. Not sure if it was the waitress's first day. Our experience was bad, from a cork that was left in the bottle and the waitress asked if we would still like the bottle.... until the uncomfortable farewell that made the whole table feel uneasy . The calamari appetizer was made into perfect circles- a clear note that the dish was not natural nor fresh. The entrees were half warm/half lukewarm, which is unacceptable. We really wanted this place to do better but unfortunately it wasn't.

Where do I start, Sweet Aroma is what it is. Took my wife their for Valentine's Day, it was our first visit to this restaurant. Fantastic is an understatement, being Italian I know authentic Italian food, alot of restaurants claim to serve it but this place does. Truly took me back to my mother's cooking. A little pricey but worth every penny. Decor was romantic, soft old school music playing in the background, and the fireplace just set a relaxing mood. Food is plentiful, you won't leave hungry guaranteed, we will definitely be back. Enjoy!

Took my wife here for our anniversary! We absolutely love this place! Service is wonderful! The owners are very friendly and come to the tables to see if you're enjoying the food, I like that. Everything we had to eat was really good. The chicken francaise was the best I've ever eaten! They remembered when I made the reservation that it was our anniversary and gave us complimentary cheesecake. All I can say is OMG! AWESOME! thank you for making our anniversary something to remember!!

A group of us traveled from about 20 minutes away to dine here and we all loved our meals. It was a lot of food, but the quality was high. I had the chicken francese and was quite pleased, and enjoyed the marinated vegetables with the salad. I shared cannoli with my dining companions and they were heavenly.

Attended for a rehearsal dinner. I think we sampled close to everything on the menu. My favorite thing were the meatballs but everything was delicious! I left stuffed and very, very happy! Service was awesome. The owner was the nicest, friendliest person ever. Will definitely be back.

This was our first time here and we were not disappointed. The restaurant is small and quaint. Homey feeling. Quiet, we were actually able to have a nice conversation. The wait staff was wonderful, friendly and attentive. We decided to go with the Taste of Italy, which is a 7 course authentic Italian meal. All the food was delicious. It is served family style. Each course was served separately and you are given plenty of time to savor all of it. I would highly recommend it. We definitely be returning.

In my first visit to Sweet Aroma, Geneva and I dined pretty late in the night and they ran out of lasagna. I decided to go early on my return trip two weeks later so I wouldn't miss out again. The lasagna was so good that I gave Sweet Aroma a Tasty Award for it. I recommend you ask for the meat sauce to top off the best lasagna you'll ever eat.

Awesome.........one of my favorite restaurants in the whole USA is back open with the same chef! Newly remodeled, same location. Family recipes, Italian specialties. 4 or 5 veal choices on the menu. We had veal parm and veal lim one...both excellent! Homemade bread, soup, AND a salad is included with the entrees! good wine selection and dessert offerings. Tiramisu and the cannolis were good.....great food and nice ambiance.....moderately priced. right now they are open for dinner only wed thru Sunday......better make reservations so you're not disappointed.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
