Stopped in for fish fry on Friday night and was pleasantly surprised. The poor man's lobster (baked cod) was one of the best fish dinners I have ever had. It was served hot, flaky and tender with just the right amount of seasoning and butter. The bar is nice for this area and the clientele is lively and friendly. If you like to eat in a bar, this place might be for you. The rest of the food is standard bar food, and will meet the needs of most people.
Wonderful fish. I was delightfully surprised at the quality and freshness. Will return and bring family.
This place has the best prime rib and the nicest people working there. I love it. My husband and I would eat prime rib here every night of the week if possible. Great Boston Creme Pie, friendly service and the best prime rib in the county. Who could ask for more?
Stopped by last night for dinner with my Dad. Glad I read the reviews that mentioned they don't take credit cards, so I was able to grab some cash before going. When we walked in Lavore's had the not so unusual WI supper club feel. We were seated immediately and informed that they were out of prime rib (it was only 7:30!). It was really too bad because it was the main reason for coming. I will admit, I was a little taken back by the steak prices and the prices of some of the sides. Make sure you bring enough cash with you. After checking out the menu, I decided to go with the Steak Lavore (which is actually trademarked on the menu). It was a 12 oz ribeye steak with garlic, I also chose garlic mashed potatoes and an Italian sausage soup. My dad went with a burger and fries. The soup was good, kind of a hybrid Italian Wedding Soup. They also came out with a warm loaf of bread which was very good. My dad ordered the side salad, which when I looked at it seemed rather small for the cost. When we got our entrees I was a little disappointed. My steak didn't really have much in the way of drill marks and there was little to no charring on the outside. The steak came with an "ice cream scoop" of mashed potatoes and exactly 9 green beans. The steak itself was tender and was cooked perfectly, I just wish I would have ordered the 16 oz steak. The sides were also good, but for the cost of the dinner, could have given larger portions of mashed potatoes and green beans. My dad really liked the burger and fries he ordered. All in all, for the area, Lavore's seems to fill the supper club void in the area. But if I go again I am going to go with some of their pasta dishes instead of shelling out the big bucks for an average steak.
Friday Night Fish Fry: With a group of five, service was good, wait staff pleasant. Two ordered the baked cod dinners, which were delicious. Three ordered the beer battered cod dinners. Here is the problem. It appeared that the grease might not have been hot enough. the batter on the fish was was not crisp, but greasy and the fish overcooked. The price of the dinners are justified with the number of side dishes.
Decent food and drinks. However during the week the bartender is also the server so depending on how busy it is it may take a while to get your food.
I just so happened to be in Coloma last year visiting the in laws and we stopped by this place for the Bears and Packers game. Naturally, the packers whipped their behinds. Free moonshine shots every time the packers scored a touch down. We didn't order food so I can't really comment on that but they did have some refreshments that were amazing like the fresh caught fish! It wasn't too busy and our bartender was very attentive. I believe he may have been the owner. Spotted cow is the best local beer and we kept them coming with no problems at all. Will definitely be stopping through again when we fly up there this year.
