We came on a Living Social deal ... and it was worth the trip! Our room was large and came with a two-person whirlpool tub. Nice. The room was clean and the staff were very friendly. They let us check in early, and check out isn't until noon. Location is fabulous, you can walk to lots of cute shops and restaurants in town. We took advantage of the free wine & cheese/snack hour from 5-6 p.m., and breakfast the next morning. All the food was wonderful. I liked that they served only locally sourced wine (from Cedar Creek Winery) too. We also used our free passes to the winery and the coupon to Amy's Candies next door too that came as part of the Living Social deal. All in all, this promotion seemed like a great way to fill up rooms during a not-so-great time of year to visit and cross-promote other businesses. We would definitely stay here again.

I have stayed in much more expensive places and yet have never felt as at "home" as I have here at the Washington House Inn. The staff are all very friendly and attentive. The rooms in this beautifully restored historic building are very comfortable and quaint. From the nightly wine and cheese social that welcomes their guests, to the home cooked breakfast buffet that is as hearty as it is healthy... All make this a must try location for those visiting beautiful Cedarburg Wisconsin.

We really enjoyed our stay here. We peeked at some of the nicer rooms which looked great. They had a great social hour with wine and snacks. The staff was friendly. Plenty to do and walk to nearby. The only reason I dock a star is the terrible smell in the hallways. I don't know what causes it, but it smells like someone couldn't keep their mac and cheese down. Thankfully our room didn't smell that way. Also, even with multiple log in spots the wifi was pretty weak.

This is our home away from home. Have stayed here maybe 9 or 10 times? The bed and linens are sumptuous, the rooms romantic, with exposed stone and fireplaces, and jacuzzi tubs.....Breakfasts are good, especially the breads and cakes etc. The rooms are fairly expensive, and our last visit was busy, but we will surely be back again, many times.

I love The Washington House Inn - it's like a bed and breakfast but with the feel of a small inn - meaning you aren't forced to socialize with others if you don't want to. The bedrooms have such great historical character with modern amenities that we sleep soundly through the night. The breakfasts in the morning are DELICIOUS and home baked which makes a huge difference. We also enjoy the wine and cheese happy hour to kick off a nice evening. We have stayed in the Henry Hentschel room twice and recommend it for anyone who doesn't want to spend a lot on a room. I would also recommend grabbing an apple from Amy's for dessert in your room after dinner - totally worth it.

I cannot say enough amazing things about this Inn. I first heard about The Washington House Inn (and Cedarburg in general) when I was perusing Living Social for deals. They had an amazing deal going for one of their rooms, so we snagged it. Now THAT was a great choice! From the second we arrived to the moment we left, we were treated like family. Like members of the Royal Family, even. You can tell that this place takes great pride in their customer service, and we never experience anything but top notch service! This place is seriously wonderful. We didn't make it to either, but they offer a continental breakfast (complementary) in the mornings (I DID snag a muffin, and I am proud of it!) and they had a wine tasting going on in the evening, but we had prior engagements! The check-in/check-out process was amazing, and the actual ambiance of the inn is to die for. It's spacious and well-maintained. It feel the history seeping out of the walls. they even have a guestbook from well over 100 years ago on display! It's really nice! The location along the downtown drag can't be beat--it's in the middle of everything! And the ROOMS! WOW!!! They have the historic feel, BUT with modern upgrades--like the flat screen TV, whirlpool, fancy bathroom, fantastic sheets/towels/etc. I loved everything about this inn, and I know I will be back!!

I will never patronize this establishment again. Last year I purchased a Groupon certificate and was able to use it any day of the week. We paid an additional $40 to upgrade to a larger room. This year however, (in the small print) they added that you can't use it on a Fri. or Sat. night stay. I called and asked if there was any way I could pay additional money and was told no. They offered to let me use it after the expiration date but you wouldn't get all the extras that came with the deal which was part of the reason I purchased it. In addition I would have to pay the regular price on the room which was some some exhorbitant fee. I was also told that I should've booked sooner. Not impressed at all with the customer service. Completely changed since Iast purchased a deal from them. I don't recommend the Washington House Inn.

Stayed here a few months back through a Groupon deal. The place was quaint. Rooms were a bit small and dated but to be expected for a B&B. Breakfast was pretty good as was the afternoon snacks & wine they offer. Quite a plus to be thrown in with the stay. I was surprised at how many rooms they have which is more than you'd expect for a B&B, but you wouldn't know there were that many people there except during the afternoon snacks. Place is quiet. Lots of things in walking distance. A theater next door, microbrewery across the street, lots of places to eat, and not far from the winery (which is worth taking the tour of). Another thing for those that like to exercise is that a few blocks away you can get on the walking/running/ biking path that cuts through town and beyond. Very nice path. I'd recommend this place for a stay and look forward to getting back here again.

I'll be honest...I'm not a B&B person. However, I've stayed here on four occasions the last 5 months because my company is nearby and has a sweet deal with them. The innkeeper is always very welcoming and informative about the area. The breakfast is one of the best hotel breakfasts that I've had, B&B or expensive chain. Everything is freshly baked and prepared. They must get their fruit from a farmer's market or something special because I know I can't buy those giant blueberries and strawberries at my grocery store. I haven't had a chance to check out the wine & cheese hour since it's done by 6pm and I typically don't get back to the hotel in time. The rooms themselves are pretty standard B&B fare. They are clean and have "character" if you like that sort of thing. The tubs are old school and really deep which takes some getting used to in order to climb in and out of the shower. One time I think they ran out of regular rooms and gave me this huuuuuge suite which had a second floor with jacuzzi and seating area. Overall, it's the kind of place I'd take my wife to if we ever vacationed in the area and it is definitely an above average B&B.

Great place to stay. Walked into a cozy lobby and warmly greeted when we arrived and the room was ready. The room was clean and well appointed. The bed was comfortable with lots of pillow. There is an option for having your breakfast in bed via room service. The continental breakfast menu in the dinning room changes everyday and it was delicious! Definitely worth staying at.

We got a great deal on Living Social, which included movie passes, free winery tour, and $7 coupon for Amy's Gourmet Apples. I love this inn. It's very centrally located. The room was super cute. The bathroom had a double whirlpool tub, which was a great bonus. The best part was the wine and cheese hour featuring Cedar Creek wines (yay!). They also served a delicious and plentiful breakfast buffet. I would definitely stay here again.

AWE-SOME! Stayed here last night on a groupon. We booked late (our fault) and had to pay $40 extra for the room. When we got there, turns out our room we booked was not available any more, so they upgraded us (at NO extra charge) to this AMAZING two-story suite. Phenominal two-person jacuzzi upstairs. The room was amazing, rustic and quaint. Clean, and super charming. And the sheets were TO DIE FOR. I loved the sheets. Overall experience was awesome. Id go back, and/or tell all my friends to stay there. Money well spent.

This was a nice little weekend getaway to a more simple and relaxing place. We stayed in the Schroeder Guest House, a seperate house from WHI on a LS deal. We will likely be back to stay in the main inn. The rooms were quaint, clean, and the beds were comfortable. The breakfast was very nice, with a good selection of hot and cold choices.

sooo... my husband is the romantical type... and this little get away was a surprise to me. he wins! i was surprised, and it was romantic and very, very nice. when i first learned we were going to a b&b, i was a little nervous. i haaaaate bed and breakfasts. i am not the best in crowds. i don't like forced mingling. social hours make me want to puke. he's my wing man in those occasions, and thank god -- because i just don't love it. i had nightmares about eating breakfast with a cat lady for a week before this trip. seriously. nightmares. however.... we arrived... and i was super happy, because this b and b -- it's nothing like banana bread with a cat lady. it's modern. it's chic. it's gorgeous. our room was a queen sized room, and had a lovely private bath (nope! no shared bathroom at THIS b&b) with a double whirlpool. we had a flatscreen television in our room, and a nice view of the street below. there was a lovely wine and cheese hour in the evening in their lobby, which did NOT force mingling with other guests. in fact, my husband and i sat like hermits in the corner and sucked down several glasses of local cranberry wine and chatted amongst ourselves. we made eye contact with NO ONE. just kidding. i think i smiled at a lady on my way to get a handful of crackers to soak up the liquor. :) there is breakfast served from 7-10am in the same room, but if you feel like avoiding people -- like my anti-social self -- or if you are lazy -- like my husband, you can fill out a room service request form, and for no additional charge, you can have your breakfast brought right up to your room. we had a feast, coffee, juice, and a paper brought up to our room.. and we ate and got crumbs all in sheets like we never feel comfortable doing at home because we know we will have to clean it up. it was pretty awesome. cedarburg is pretty idyllic. we walked around it for awhile. it is so perfect looking from the streets we took in, and just the way that people are so damn friendly, i'm pretty sure it's hiding a secret of stephen king like proportions. time will tell. however, in the meantime, it's a nice place to kill a weekend. i can't recommend this place enough. friendly staff. incredibly clean. lots of food. beautiful rooms. i gave it five stars. i never give stuff five stars. loved it.

Everything was great! Just a couple of things - I wasn't happy with was the Internet connection in the room. Weak signal. Our room was facing the main street and early in the morning the pedestrian light was making constant clicking sounds which made it really difficult to sleep.

A handsome hotel, emblematic of the post-Civil War boom of our beloved northern United States. The nod to Washington as opposed to Lincoln no doubt a visionary gesture of hospitality to future southern guests. Notably, rooms are larger and finer than you find at the other similarly-aged hotels.

We stayed in the big two-level room with the old metal spiral staircase in it. It was pretty cool. There was a nice gas fireplace and a gigantic hot-tub in the room. The sauna in the basement was nice too. There was nothing modern about this place, it had kind of an old, country feel to it, which is fine. My only real complaint was that the bathroom was nothing special at all, I was expecting a little more for the high price tag. Usually the bathrooms at B&B's I've stayed at in the past have been really amazing & kick ass (even in older places), but this one was just like plain old whatever. The bed was comfy. The breakfast, while nothing mind-blowing, was nice. Mostly pastry-related items. The building is old and probably haunted. I was hoping for some kind of paranormal experience but nothing that cool ever happens to me. Cedarburg itself is kind of a cool little town actually. It has some pretty picturesque parts to it, and some other cool shit like an awesome coffee shop (Cedarburg Coffee Roastery), a high-end candy store that sells really fancy candied apples (can't remember the name, but it's just a couple doors down), a couple of cool taverns, and a microbrewery. I did not see any hipsters, since a place like this is not cool enough for them to be seen in.

My fiance and I just came back from spending a Saturday night here. This place is very quaint and pretty and the location in town can't be beat. We found the staff to be friendly and the wine and cheese social hour was really terrific. The breakfast in the morning was also very good. I'd like to come back and get a jacuzzi room the next time we want a little get-away from the city.

Had an amazing, relaxing trip. We did the wine tour, followed by wine in the lobby at Washington House. Everyone is very friendly and helpful - felt like a trip home. And the scones - A+

Stayed here with my husband and two children for three nights. It was wonderful. Fab home made breakfast, wine and cheese in the evening and lovely old fashioned rooms with big comfy beds and a GIANT tub. The place is right in the middle of town so perfect for shopping in the prettiest town in all of Wisconsin.

My family and I come up every year around Valentines Day and we always stay at the Washington House Inn. Very romantic setting and the rooms are very nice. The only problems with the hotel are, they don't have enough hot water tanks so the hot tubs which are in every room only fill up halfway with hot water, my advice is to fill it up earlier in the evening before everyone else does. Also it's getting very pricey to stay here, the rates just went up over this past year.

Service and amenities are better on the weekends than on week nights. The afternoon social hour on weekdays fell way short from the weekend. Crackers, water went empty and was not replenished. One of the guests finally went into the kitchen and refilled water pitcher and cracker tray. Very lovely otherwise. Might just have been the staff in charge at that time because other times of day were great.

My boyfriend and I (ages 23 & 25) took our first weekend trip together to Cedarburg, WI and stayed at the Washington House Inn. Like many others we took advantage of the great LivingSocial deal available around the holidays. We stayed the weekend of March 10th and we wished we could've stayed more than one night. We stayed in a queen room (211). It was restored beautifully, smelled wonderful and the whirlpool tub was so relaxing we enjoyed it twice in one day. The social hour at night helped hold us over until after a movie next door at the restored single-screen theater. The breakfast in the morning was more than what I expected, delicious and left me feeling full (yet I still couldn't help bringing a pastry back to the room with me and devouring it before even getting out of the elevator). The wine tour and tasting at the Cedarburg Winery was fun and despite my boyfriend and I not being wine drinkers, we enjoyed everything we tasted and even went home with 2 bottles! We are definitely planning to visit again and will hopefully be able to afford a longer stay in a king size room!

This is a must 5 stars in my book. My wife and I received a gft certificate for Christmas to stay here and we will not soon forget our stay. Our room was equipped with a beautiful updated hot tub that was located in it's own living area surrounded with nice art work. The room itself yet updated still had that old early 1900's feel to it, everything from the doorknob and having to use a key to get in to the older style Victorian bed. The bed might have been one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept on. The WH also included between 4:00 and 5:00PM free wine and cheese bar in the dining room. This was just what we needed after sucking down lots of wine on our wine tour earlier in the day. The breakfast the next morning was also very good with fresh fruits and breads along with eggs and bacon. A night in the Washington House helped us forget for a night that we have 2 children with a busy schedule. Even if you are in bed at 10:00, it was a well rested day and relaxing night that my wife and I needed very much.

We were in Cedarburg for a wedding, and it was very convenient to be in town. It's a lovely place to stay, and very hospitable. This is the second time we've stayed there, and it felt even more comfortable than the last time. We spent a little bit more for a larger room, but it was worth it. The bed was extremely comfortable, and they are promoting super soft sheets that you can purchase that made it that much sweeter. Staff are knowledgable, and very helpful. We will return!

We love to stay at Inns and have been able to do so from Santa Fee to Montreal, but ironically, only because it is so close to where we live (Chicago), this was the best room we have ever had. Two-story vaulted ceiling (room 216), fireplace, and get this funiture that actually faces the TV for a suite like feel of separate areas. I am an architect (obviously not a writer) and this was a great room.

Went for a long weekend to Milwaukee and so glad we found this B&B. In really quaint Cedarburg (18 miles north of downtown Milwaukee) that has about a half days worth of things to see, do, and taste (winery, several great coffee shops, apothecary-style soap store, built-into-someone's-house bar, and Wisconsin's ONLY surviving covered bridge. Decent value on a variety of room sizes/prices. Ours was very quiet, had huge ceilings, antique furniture, stained glass windows and a sunken whirlpool tub big enough for 4 (but very comfy for just us two!). Nice, expanded continental breakfast and evening social hour with local wine and cheese is part of the price. Apparently there's a nice sauna in the lower level that we never got around to. Really nice time.
