Service was GREAT both times, food, not so much. Skip the gyros completely. They are "right off the spit"...but they may have been on the spit for a week. Gyros were burned, dry, and not edible. Soups were excellent.

We returned this past weekend, and breakfast was even better than before. I had the corned beef hash and it was awesome. It came with three eggs, hash browns and silver dollar pancakes. My wife had the bananas Foster waffles, and they were good as well. Service was professional polite and fast again. We will be going back as soon as we can.

I have been long searching for a great spot for breakfast, and I think I found it :) I love some pancakes, and I got some really, really good pancakes! Here are the dets. Menu: Great selection. Tons of healthy options. Good prices. Taste: Try the cowboy pancakes (coconut, pecans, choc and PB chips). They are delicious. Hubby had a wrap from the healthy menu, and he said it was fab. Daughter had waffle and turkey bacon. She said it was delicious. Atmosphere: Cozy, friendly, inviting. They have tons of booths which is always nice on a busy Sat morning. Service: Never had to ask for a coffee refill. Friendly waitress. Food was out SUPER fast... No complaints (and I will complain when I am not happy). Overall, give this place a try. The waitress said they've only been open for around 7 months, so let's show them some love. I will be back...I am going for the Graceland pancakes next (Bananas and PB...yummm....)

Gave this place a second chance, but was disappointed again. Tables and chairs are dirty. Carpeting is filthy. Food is poor. And someone from the kitchen actually walked through the dining room carrying bags of garbage on his way out to the dumpster! Seriously??? You don't have a back door for that? Disgusting.

This is without a doubt a must visit cafe. We decided to visit on one of what we thought would be one of their busiest days, Strawberry Fest. We ended up waiting about 10 minutes and it was worth the wait! The cafe had a counter for single patrons which is always a plus for me. Most of the other seating was booths and tables. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. As soon as we were seated the waitress was right there for the drinks order. Moments later the drinks arrived and the meal order was taken. This place is noted for breakfast so that was a no brainer. Our family ordered a number of their specialties. Meat-lovers Omelet, waffle.

Fantastic breakfast place in Cedarburg. I would highly recommend this place. If you get there early enough (before 9ish am or earlier) your wait is minimal. After that time you can expect 20-30 minute waits or longer. They do move people in and out quickly too so in the 2 visits I've been there it hasn't been over 20 minutes but it's well worth the wait. The food is really great. I've had breakfast both times and would highly recommend this place.

Great place for breakfast. Wait was a little lengthy to be seated because they were packed but truthfully it was well worth it. Both my wife and I got the meat lover skillet which we both loved. The pancakes were great. Our waiter was consistent and friendly. The rest of the staff was friendly as well. Extremely reasonably priced. Next time I'm in Milwaukee, will be back here.

Cute little small town diner. This is our second time here. Very friendly service and lots of seating inside. The prices are very good for all the food you get. I would recommend this place for all ages. Get the sourdough toast!

Came here with my fiancé and his family last weekend! The wait wasn't too bad for a party of 5. It was about 20 minutes on a Saturday morning at around 10am. We immediately commented on the cozy and quaint atmosphere of the restaurant. We also appreciated the generous amount of space they placed in between tables. Kinda felt like you were having brunch at a neighbors! Our meals did not disappoint either! I highly recommend the banana foster waffle! In my opinion, it had the perfect level of sweetness. The fresh apple pancakes, florentine crepe and big sky breakfast were all amazing too. Generous portions and fresh ingredients. Oh yeah, service was quick too! Will definitely be back!

This diner had a small town feel, a lot of friendly servers discussing town happenings. The menu is very large. I ordered the Garden skillet and it was as advertised, well cooked hashbrowns, fresh veggies, plenty of cheese. My eggs were slightly overcooked but still good. We also got an eggs benedict. I found the hollandaise to be terrible. Really bad. I also got a side of apple pancakes which were good with chunks of tart apple but the pancake batter wasn't amazing. This is a nice little diner with friendly service and standard diner fare.

We came here on a Sunday before the stores opened at 10 am. We were looking for something that offered a variety breakfast and would be of a hometown feel, so the reviews here drew us in combined with a glance of their menu. It was quite busy when we arrived so we thought it would be a huge wait since about 20 people were standing about the entrance and around the front tables. The wait was only about 10 minutes and we were seated at one of the front tables surrounded by waiting patrons. This was a big downside and the only reason they are not being given 5 stars. I ordered the garden skillet with a couple modifications and my fiancé ordered the crab and hollandaise skillet. We both got the option for pancakes instead of toast. The food arrived quickly and was quite hot and visually appetizing. They did not disappoint as the hash brown base for the skillet was just crisp enough, the over easy eggs on top done perfect and added the perfect taste complement to each skillet. The pancakes were warm and done well. There are two small critiques: 1) please consider using fresh full spinach leaves in the garden skillet as it would provide a nice visual and a "crunch" aspects; 2) the syrup was generic and gloopy and actually took away from the pancakes. The service was wonderful from our greeting by the host, an older lady with white hair to our server, #5 from our bill. Consider nametags so they can get recognition.

This food has gone downhill. Service is wonderful but quality of food has suffered. The pre-cooked food inorder to expedite deliver and speed shows. If you're old and lack taste buds this is your restaurant! Enjoy old people....

Quick service and lots to choose from. Glad to see crepes as an option. The guy next to me at the counter seating had pumpkin pie for breakfast - nice! Location Dwtn Cedarburg easy to find. They open at 6 a.m. so early birds will appreciate that.

I like to try new places when I'm traveling for work and this place did not disappoint! I had the biscuits and gravy and it was the best I've had in a while. The staff made sure I had what I needed and i would definitely come back!

My first time there today. Breakfast special was a mini omelette with spinach and feta and two blueberry pancakes for $5. Um .... Yes please. Was very good. Nice atmosphere. Very personable server. The coffee is very average but everything else was great. I'll definitely be back.

It was a basic diner. It had your standard breakfast fixins (lunch, too, but I didn't really study those too extensively at 8 am). Our waitress was a little "brisk". She was all business, and since we weren't one of the regulars, I guess she didn't feel comfortable being as friendly as she was with the other patrons. And by "friendly", I mean "smiling at all". Her loss--I'm a hoot! The veggie skillet I ordered was cooked very nicely, and had well-cooked hash browns. I really liked that! Plus, I had my over-easy eggs on the side, and they were perfect. The pancakes left something to be desired, though. They were kinds flat, really oily. I would probably get toast next time! There were a few other things that seemed delicious on the menu, so I hope to be back soon to try some of the other selections! The price was definitely right! It was less than $30 for all of us after tip. :)

I stopped by PJ Piper Pancake House on a quiet Friday morning with some co-workers as we were headed out of town. The restaurant is situated in nice, quiet downtown Cedarburg. We were promptly seated in a back room that appeared to be converted from an old house. Service was prompt, but not exactly friendly (I don't think our waitress smiled once). The menu is quite extensive, covering a variety of omelets, crepes, pancakes, and pastries. I had a combo plate with eggs, bacon, hashbrowns, toast and pancakes. It was pretty good and certainly filling, although the hashbrowns were a bit dry. It was not bad for a quick breakfast, but nothing amazing here...

They deliver some serious breakfast dishes. Small place, the chef will pop out and visit and ensure your order was delivered precisely to your liking. That's what you want from a breakfast spot; a place that will make it exactly how you ordered it...that's important when it comes to eggs, right?? Known for their pancakes...light and addictive. I don't think I've seen anyone finish ONE.

Great breakfast experience! My boyfriend and I went for brunch at 1pm on a Sunday and it was still packed! Even so, we only waited about 10 minutes for a table. The food was delicious: we started out with a cup of chili and chicken dumpling soup, which were both very good. For our meals, I had "The Works" skillet with pancakes (both amazing) and he had a combination of biscuits and gravy with corn beef hash (recommended by our server after he couldn't decide between the two:)). He absolutely loved the biscuits and gravy which were made with Italian sausage, and the corn beef hash was good not great. The coffee was also great, and our great server kept our cups fresh. The only downside of the entire experience was we had to sit in the back of the restaurant next to the radiator which was absolutely pumping out hot air (we could hear it). All in all, a great brunch and we we will definitely be back to try something else from the extensive menu!

Good food at fair prices. A small town diner that feels like home where everyone knows each other and friendly.

I believe this one require a bit of explanation. The two stars are earned solely by the kitchen. The good: The service has always been friendly and prompt. The wait staff seem to enjoy being there and it shows. Regulars are greeted by name and new patrons are greeted promptly and seated as soon as possible. Once you're in you will rarely have an empty coffee cup. The bad: It seems that the kitchen is currently interested in cutting corners. For example...The menu has several variations of Eggs Benedict listed as "SPECIALTIES" yet recently they quit making hollandaise by hand and now tear open a bag of "insta-daise." if you intend to claim these as a specialty, make it by hand. Hash browns and bacon are almost always soggy, and it's a crap shoot to see if your over easy eggs actually make it to you that way. More often than not they'll be over hard, or cold, or both. In conclusion if you are in Cedarburg and need breakfast, PJ Piper's will do, but keep your expectations to a minimum.

PJ Piper Pancake House was pretty terrible. We were starving after a morning of wandering around Cedarburg and had read decent things about PJ Piper. Plus, I like pancake houses, so I figured this would do the trick. They were not busy because it was after noon. By the time we finished eating, we were the last people in the restaurant. The restaurant is weird. It is dark and close. The decor is worn and dated. Nothing felt super clean, nor was it in good repair. The food isn't even as good as Denny's, and the prices are too high for how bad the food was. We had a variety of things - I tried the potato pancakes, which were awful - weirdly sweet batter with very little potato in it (perhaps these were made with a storebought potato pancake mix? I'm not sure) I only took two bites and did mention to the server that they tasted really strange, but she didn't seem to care and did not offer to get me something else or take them off of the bill. But that's fine - I ordered them and didn't like them, that alone didn't do me in - the rest of the issues certainly did. My son got chicken strips, which were likely frozen and then fried. My sister got a chicken breast sandwich that was pretty basic - it tasted alright. My husband got a Chicken Cordon Bleu Pita, which was served open faced (weird??) and instead of the crumbled ham that was described on the menu, a slice of ham was slapped on top. It didn't work well, the cheese tasted bad and was just a strange dish. The service was lacking - even though there weren't other customers to attend to, we often had to wait for service. The remaining employees sat at a table right beside us having personal conversation and doing sidework (rolling napkins and the like) It was unprofessional and there were absolutely other tables further away where either a) we could have been seated, away from the employees or b) the employees could have moved to once we were seated They were cleaning and vacuuming around us while we ate. We felt like we'd overstayed our welcome even though we'd just been seated. We were there well before closing and honestly they could easily have told us they were closed if they planned to wrap up early. We would have gladly gone to find an alternative option and probably would've enjoyed it significantly more than our experience at PJ Piper Pancake House.

Good food, good service, and very fast! Great for breakfast and lunch. Large portions. Good value. Some of the lunch items are unimpressive like the burgers but overall I recommend it.

I go to Wisconsin at least twice a year and I'm very excited about the Cedarburg community. I want to say thank to CC, who works at PJ Piper Pancake House to introducing me to this cute gem of a town. As for the the food review, I enjoy the price and just the right amount of food for the price. I need breakfast just before a flight back to California and I just need something good to satisfy my morning cravings. I had the cinnamon crispy french toast. The french toast was not fluffy and extra large like most places that I've been to. But honestly for two french toast, it was just enough...it was fulfilling along with the scrambled eggs and bacons. The major plus for my experience are the people that work there and come around to eat. It feel like "home" a great wholesome community that's open and warm. It's a place where you'll feel that you mom and your grandma have been up early in the morning to work you a home-cooked break at home.

My friend John the certified Italian Chef and I had to be in the area, so we decided to use my new 2014 Entertainment Book if possible and there we were in beautiful downtown Cedarburg. PJ Piper Pancake House now occupies the site of the infamous Coffee Pot and what an improvement. There's even an $8 coupon in the book! We hadn't been in town in several years but we will be coming back thanks to PJ Piper. Don't be fooled, the restaurant is much bigger than it appears, with a double dining room behind the street facade and its front room featuring booths and an old fashion counter. With a very extensive menu, PJ Piper is far more than simply a pancake house. A full menu covers breakfast, lunch and brunch everyday of the week. For now, PJ's is only open to 3 p.m., but who knows what continued success can bring. Ryan our server was excellent, keeping our coffee cups always filled and checking on us repeatedly to see if we needed anything else. I ordered the Gyro ($7.25) complete with steak fries, although I could have added soup, 3 bean salad or kettle chips instead. My sandwich arrived pipping hot with the Gyro piled high with hand sliced meat and a 'ton' of fries. Delicious! John ordered "The Greekster" ($8.75) salad which over-filled the big bowl it was served in. The talented Chef commented that it was indeed a meal by itself. As its name implies, PJ Piper Pancake House also offers the traditional offerings of pancakes, waffles, French toast and crapes. You can also checkout the skillets, omelets and many other offerings. This is one place that you can't leave hungry!

Took the kids for breakfast this morning based on the many excellent reviews, and y'all were right. My son enjoyed an egg skillet with pancakes, my daughter had the Big Sky Breakfast, and I had the corned beef hash special (it is St. Patrick's Day afterall), and we all enjoyed our meals! The wait was about 15-20 minutes (not bad for a Sunday morning at 10:00AM), and our service was fantastic! Looking forward to our next visit.

I have been there a couple of times only for breakfast which is amazing. I have ordered the "big sky" breakfast which is 2eggs hash browns bacon, sausage, or ham and pancakes.

Good sized portions for the price! I've been here several times so now it's time for a review. First let me start by saying we are food snobs in our house. Next after that is that our favorite place for breakfast used to be IHOP before we moved. And lastly breakfast is my FAVORITE meal of the day. That being said this place is certainly one that I will be back to again. The place seems to have a few regulars and that is a great judge of the service this is true here the service is definately great! I love the cozy feel of the place nicely decorated and friendly prompt service. The menu selection is wide and if you don't find something you like then there is something wrong with you. The prices are certainly reasonable and will not break the bank. The breakfasts are nothing to jump up and down about but then again I didn't have to cook or clean. The eggs were cooked well not dry for scrambled and my MIL poached eggs for her benedict were perfectly cooked and soft. The hash browns are typical for a diner but I enjoyed the skillet potatoes much better on a later visit as they had more flavor. I ordered toast to come with my 2 egg breakfast and HOLY MOLY you could shingle a house with the 2 slices that were brought to the table! Not a complaint just an observation. Our coffees were plentiful and quickly refilled happily by the staff. I never felt rushed out after the bill was brought and even given a refill of coffee after the bill was placed down. A nice feeling for that morning conversation that is not quite finished yet & were told several times to "take our time and not to hurry" I love that ! Overall very pleasant place to linger for a nice breakfast. You should check it out.

So PJ's is now my favorite breakfast place. The service is amazing and the food is off the charts good. Don't be fooled on Sunday by the crowd, the wait is never long. Plus you can always sit at the diner stools and eat pretty quickly. I am in the area quite a bit and eat there every chance I get. Quick tip: the portions are huge. Can definitely split a breakfast. Also, try the Graceland Cakes. Unreal!

I live in Milwaukee and work in Mequon. I will make it a point to have breakfast or brunch at this place at least once a month with a friend who lives in Cedarburg. Friendly service that sometimes forgets to check on you. But, the food is fantastic. Always good.

I love this place, they have great breakfast food. The skillets are to delicious.... Also, the staff is very friendly. We spent the weekend there for my birthday and they sang happy birthday to me, gave me a slice of pie, a birthday card that all the staff signed and a coupon for a free stack of pancakes. We went back the next day and they still remember my name that made me feel really welcomed. We will be back again!

As a frequent visitor to the Cedarburg Coffee Pot, we were sad to see it close. It was one of the few places in town not built from the ground up to attract pompous Illinois tourists. It was a place where a townie could feel at home. Shortly after it closed, it reopened under new ownership, failed and closed again. After that, Suddenly, PJ Piper Pancake House appeared. It fills a niche as there are no other breakfast spots on Washington Ave downtown. It has become popular for good reason. This was our 8th visit to PJ Piper. We arrived around 9:00am on a Monday during the holidays. Even though it was packed, we were seated immediately in the upper dining room. Our server materialized instantly and took our drink orders. She was old school; very easygoing and friendly. We both ordered Sausage, bacon, and cheese omelets w/hash browns and white and wheat toast. The omelets were super fluffy, brimming with filling, and delivered to the table warm (I don't like cool or hot omelets). They were a wonderful blend of breakfast flavors you'd expect. The hash browns were dark and crunchy with a hint of butter and hot oil. The toast was toast. I've never been able to tell the difference between toast at home and toast out. It was toasted well, not burned. Our drinks were refilled without having to ask. Not that I mind asking, but it's a treat not to. Portion sizes at PJ Piper won't leave you feeling bogged down. This was a classic, perfect breakfast from start to finish with what seemed to be a good mix of townies and tourists. So don't be afraid Cedarburgians, this is a place for you, too!

Great place for a breakfast in the 'burg. We had the Nov breakfast special, but the menu had alot of specialty omelletes, pancake and french toast offerings. The inside has been recently updated, and was much larger than I had expected. Check it out!

A gem! Waited about 15-20 minute for breakfast (Sunday 9:45 am). Was very impressed with friendly staff and attentive service. I was amazed at how much food you get! The corned beef hash was huge! 2 huge pieces of sourdough toast, 3 eggs, generous corned beef hash and hash browns. Coffee never got below 1/2 cup before waitress (Karen) was back with a hot refill. She was a perfectly helpful waitress. Kids meals are cheap and generous portions. Will be back to try more menu items. Great spot with cheerful modern yet vintage decor. Thanks, Karen!

My family and I decided to give it a try. We absolutely loved it! All five of us cleaned our plates and were very satisfied. On one of the busiest days ( it was Strawberry Fest in Cedarburg) we arrived at 12:00 noon, were seated right away. We were all so hungry and were delighted to wait no more than five minutes for our food to arrive. The eggs Benedict was outstanding as were the fresh strawberry pancakes and blueberry pancakes. Yum! Our waitress was pleasant and very efficient. We will go the 30 miles out of our way to enjoy this again soon!

PJ Piper does live up to its name in terms of its menu offerings (see the first page with the varieties of batter-based breakfasts: pancakes, crepes, waffles, etc.). But, it falls short on its delivery of the other breakfast staples: omelettes, sausage links, egg white presentation, etc.). I was happy to find that I could have a healthier version of an eggs benedict--minus the hollandaise and grilled ham slab--but the egg whites looked like they had gone through the ringer. They were mangled and burned. I prefer my food to be balanced between looking appetizing and tasting so. My taste buds go into hiding when they see a plate of poor presentation. My fellow diner found the omelette to be standard and equitable to the many Greek establishments. The hash browns were crispy on both the top and bottom of the plate, so PJ scored a few points for all-over crispy potatoes. However, they lost some on the overwhelming taste of oil on them. PJ did recover some points on the abundance of blueberries in the pancake special. But, the nearly "cooked to annihilation" side of sausage was unacceptable. The links resembled fingers that had pruned after an hour in the water. "Rubbery" and "lacking flavor" was all that could be professed about them. They should never have been plated and served. The service was about the same as the food: mediocre. I guess I expect a little more from a restaurant in Cedarburg. One of these things is not like the others. One of my fellow diners made a disturbing statement after leaving PJ's: "The food was fine. I look at breakfast as just something to eat to get your day started." No. Breakfast is an important meal, and quality reigns supreme. Here are some recommendations: use a local butcher and/or farm for your meats, eggs, vegetables, and cheeses. Use a neighborhood bakery for your breads--like the boulangerie on the main drag. People will notice and taste the difference. When the food is memorable, the staff will perform in kind, taking pride in what their restaurant brings to the table.

When asked where to go for lunch or breakfast I only say PJ Piper Pancake House. I haven't tried everything because there is so much to choose from and everything I have had is awesome. Whatever they did to the pulled pork with strawberry BBQ at Strawberry Fest WOW!!! We had to walk all the way back to get more. Keep it up!!
