Gorgeous B&B in Cambridge! We've stayed here twice, once in the fall and once in winter. Both times were absolutely excellent! Duke and Mary Jane are wonderful hosts, and make the best breakfast I've ever had (Quiche, Heirloom Tomatoes, Sausage and Chocolate Cinnamon Coffee Cake and the second time Belgian Waffles with Strawberries, Sausage, Orange Medley and Chocolate Chip Scones)! We stayed in the Cambridge room which has a whirlpool tub among other amenities. The stay is always relaxing, they have a heated king bed which was nice and toasty in the winter. They have a great selection of DVD's or cable for you to relax and watch. The Inn is close to downtown Cambridge and within walking distance of some great bars and restaurants. We always go to dinner at The Keystone Grill, which I highly recommend as well. This place is wonderful, you should check it out!

A lovely getaway half an hour from Madison! Located within walking distance of downtown Cambridge, in a residential neighborhood, the Oscar H Hanson House is well-kept and charming. Upon arrival we were immediately greeted by the owners, both of whom were incredibly gracious and welcoming. We were given a tour of the common areas which offered a coffee machine, comfy seating areas and a mini-fridge stocked with ice cream bars (ice cream bars?! The Mister decided he was moving in at this point). We stayed in Ana's room which is located on the first floor, overlooking the back garden. It was lovely to be able to pop out back from the sliding door and enjoy a drink on the front porch. It's a quiet room, off the kitchen, so it's private. A full Jacuzzi was big enough for two and the king size bed was definitely comfy. No need to get dressed, breakfast is served in your room, left outside your room on a covered tray, ready when you are. On a Sunday night most of the fine dining options in the area were closed so be aware you may be driving into Madison if that's your thing (that's not to say there weren't food options, just not fancy/romantic open on that day). We decided to pack a romantic picnic and bottle of wine to sit on the porch instead, which worked out perfectly on a summer evening! We were thrilled to be there and would not hesitate to return.

I just finished my second stay at the Oscar H Hanson house. This visit had me in the Townsend Room, also known as the bridal suite. I had this glorious room to myself and temporarily dubbed it "The Princess Room". Again, the food was delicious, the room was restful and cozy during the rainy night, and the innkeepers were warm and welcoming. It was nice to return from a work setting to a home setting...even though I was hundreds of miles away from my own home. Thank you, Duke & MJ!

I have so many wonderful things to say about the Oscar Hanson House that I don't even know where to begin.... My boyfriend and I stayed for 2 nights in the Cambridge Room in February of 2012. We were immediately greeted like we were old friends by Duke & Mary Jane, the proprietors. They are genuinely kind people, who know the art of being warm, welcoming hosts, but also giving you your privacy. The house is extraordinary. Intricate architectural details abound, with traditional, cozy decor. We were there in the winter, but we look forward to returning in the summer when Mary Jane's gorgeous gardens are in full bloom, so we can enjoy those as well. The Cambridge Room is lovely & inviting with plenty of natural light. The attention to detail that the proprietors provide is superior to your average B&B: Electric fireplace with remote, Bose sound system, a small flat screen TV with DVD player (and plenty of movies on DVD to watch), free Wi-Fi, remote battery-operated candles, a sound machine, 2 Keurigs throughout the house, complimentary wine in the evening, and a breakfast that is out of this world. Everything was impeccably clean, as well. The bathroom in the Cambridge Room is to die for: Wall to wall Travertine tile, a walk in shower with dual heads, a huge, 6-jet whirlpool tub, a refrigerator, and -yes- a TV. I could live in that bathroom. The breakfast is amazing, and Duke & Mary Jane will accommodate any food allergies you may have. Also, breakfast is brought to your room, which is a wonderful option for couples who prefer their privacy. If you'd like to eat in the dining room or on the front porch, Duke & Mary Jane will kindly oblige. There is a "full" breakfast on weekend mornings, and a "simpler" breakfast during the week. But even the "simpler" breakfast goes above and beyond, in my opinion. Saturday morning our "full" breakfast was fresh waffles with strawberries, homemade whipped cream, bacon, poached pears with raisins, homemade pain de chocolat, orange juice and fresh coffee. On Sunday our "simpler" breakfast was a large basket filled with fresh granola, yogurt, milk, homemade apple bread, fruit and sparkling juice. The only downside is that the bed was hard and kept me up half the night (I prefer a plush mattress). For the caliber and luxury appeal of this particular B&B, I had hoped for higher-end bath products and robes in the bathroom. I would count those as my particular preferences though, not a negative mark on the B&B as a whole. This is a great weekend getaway spot for people like myself who live in Chicago or its suburbs. It's an easy 2-hour drive and gives you the opportunity to check out Madison too, if you'd like. We are already booked to return to the Oscar Hanson House, and plan to make it a regular weekend getaway spot.

Loved our stay. The house and accommodations were exceptionable. I would highly recommend this B&B to anyone looking for a get away.

This was a truly stellar Bed & Breakfast experience. The boy and I chose "The Cambridge Room." From the pictures, the decor was a bit floral for my taste, but the bathroom looked so incredible that I gave in. In person, the bedroom was very cozy with a stiff-yet-comfortable bed. The bathroom was about 1.5 times bigger than the bedroom, and included a gorgeous double whirlpool tub, a rainfall-type shower, a t.v. (there was also one in the bedroom), and a refrigerator stocked with complimentary sodas and a bottle of wine. Holy. Mother. of. God. Why would you ever stay in a hotel when you can get all of that for the same price or less?? Additionally, just outside our door, there was a little station set up for guests, where there were drawers and drawers full of dvds to watch, water, popcorn, and a neverending tray of homemade cookies. That's just awesome. We were greeted by Duke, one of the owners. He was very friendly and gracious, and showed us around. Other than that, we were completely left alone, which is what we wanted. The next morning, a "Continental breakfast" was delivered to our door. I expected, you know, a traditional continental breakfast. Instead, I opened the door to find a huge circular tray on a stand, full of homemade granola (that I'm still dreaming about), fresh pain du chocolate pastries, pretty glasses full of fresh fruit and mint, and yogurt. And flowers. Again: Holy crap. I heard another guest comment, "Do you think they treat us too well, or what?" Agreed, other guest. Agreed. As we were leaving, Mary Jane, the other owner, came down to greet us. She apologized for not being there for our arrival. She chatted with us for awhile, explaining that they give 10% discounts to returning guests, mostly because they like to catch up with the lives of their old friends. Aww. They were both so sweet. $160/night for all the wonderfulness you can handle? Sign me up.

We had the opportunity to visit the Madison area recently, but wanted to avoid the normal business/chain hotels, so glad we did. This property was wonderful and the innkeepers were extremely friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was delicious! We are just looking for an excuse to return!

More wonderful with each stay. My husband and I have stayed at the Oscar H. Hanson House for our anniversary the last two years and plan to return each year. After our last stay, a celebration of 20 married years, I commented to my husband how great it would be for myself and our 16 year old daughter to come for a girls night. He agreed. We had the most amazing, relaxing time in Anna's room where we were able to unwind from a long day of Christmas shopping in Johnson Creek. The food was superb as it always is and there is not one thing we wanted that wasn't available during our stay. My daughter has a tricky food intolerance and both Mary Jane and Duke were able to oblige. They prepared a fantastic breakfast and worked marvelously around her intolerance. Not only will we be back but we encourage those that are looking for a quick getaway to check out this B&B. I can't say enough about how thorough and gracious they are!
