Very small, very basic restaurant. The food is cheap and absolutely delicious. Timing is everything though. Show up at the wrong time and you could be standing around for a bit. Friendly wait staff and food comes up relatively fast.

Great little breakfast spot. Very friendly staff consistently good food. Very busy on warm days with motorcycles I am gluten sensitive and Susie made sure my food was prepared separately Its a regular spot for my family

Good food, good service, good prices. I recommend the Red School Cafe as a fun place to stop for breakfast. Nothing fancy, just a small, friendly cafe. Bring cash, no credit cards.

Great spot for brunch! I had a wonderful experience here. So why the 3 stars? Because I can definitely see where others may have issues with it. First and foremost is the size. It's very cramped so some might have to wait for a table due to the size but I guess that's part of the experience because it was once an actual school. Luckily I got there, a family was clearing out at the perfect time. Also, since it's huge on breakfast/brunch especially over the weekend, the hours are slim. Plus, there's not a huge variety on the menu but the food was good!! I got the Denver omelette and I loved it, nice and cheesy. No complaints about the food.

Second visit today, and one word sums it up: consistency. Fast, super friendly small place service, great prices, and exactly what you want. Whatever you want, they do it extremely well. Hubs had scrambled eggs, they were perfect and fluffy. Hash browns just the way I like them, some crunchy pieces and some soft. The real masterpiece, tho, is the sausage biscuits and gravy. Just over $3 for a half order, which left lots of room for my short stack. I am not a huge fan of prepackaged syrup, but it does my germaphobe good to know this is MY syrup, and no little fingers were in it. The only real drawback is they are cash only, but it's worth it to remember to keep a $20 back from your Friday boozing to provide a great breakfast for you and a buddy.

My wife and I decided to try this place for the very first time after passing it numerous times through the years. I tried an assortment of different items on the menu including the corn beef hash and the biscuits and gravy. The service was remarkable and the food was great. I like the atmosphere inside only because I know the history of the building. I will definitely return and bring the kids.

Wonderful service. Minimal selection. The owner seems to think that is OK to tell me that my child can't have a high chair and needs to sit on my lap. I'm going to recommend not going here with kids. although what they do have is a friendly atmosphere and good food.

Excellent home made food. There was a line but we didn't wait long. I tired the special pumpkin nut pancakes. They were so good I didn't need the syrup. Small place , it use to be a one room school house . Fast and friendly service I recommend it very highly.

Red School Cafe is great! The biscuits and gravy are the best anywhere. The sausage is the kind you can only find in the midwest. The casing has a snap to it and is filled with spicy perfection. Corned beef hash cooked perfect everytime, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The pancakes are awesome, buttery goodness. Writing this reveiw has made me hungry for Red School Cafe.

Walked in and was overpowered by the smell of natural gas. I told the waitress. "Yeah, you're not the first person who has said that." Then the cook and another waitress argued that no, there was no natural gas. We left. The owner, I think, followed us out and said "I can't smell it. I'm a smoker." Yikes. Don't light up.

My husband and I went there on a weekday morning for breakfast and initially orded decaf coffee; we were told it was "still brewing." The "waiter" (only one waiting tables)told us he would be back to take our order. After waiting 5 minutes, we still didn't get any decaf. Another party came in; the young man serving the tables went right over to them and served them coffee. They must have asked for regular. He then proceeded to take their order and by now we had been waiting 10 minutes. Don't take another party's order when we were here first fella! We left and told him why. We headed down the road to the 45 Diner where we had excellent service! Won't ever return to Red School Cafe again. We can put up with a lot while dining out; being forgotten and having someone else's order taken when we were there first is not one of them.

Ehh, not impressed. To put it mildly, this place is like the dive bar of restaurants. Small, cramped, icky feeling...some might call that "quaint"; not my cup of tea. Breakfast was mediocre; nothing to write home about.

Great breakfast and an awesome atmosphere. It is small, quaint, not fancy and be ready to pay cash. The quiantness is why I really love being there instead of a breakfast factory like Wildberry. You feel like your sitting in someone kitchen. Keep it up!

this place is the best around! small but i guess thats what keeps the food SO good . i would rather drive 30 miles to here then waste a dime at all plastic egg and sponge potato places. your eggs shouldnt taste like chicken!!!!!!!only thing that sucks is my house burned down one day when we were there! but we rebuilt and still drive there for breakfast or we dont eat it!!!!!!!

People come from miles around for breakfast at the Red School Cafe, and it is worth it. It can be busy on the weekends, especially when the weather is nice enough for motorcycles to be out. Seating is limited, and at the two larger tables you will get company if there are open seats.

great place for a country breakfast

If people indeed come from miles around, it's because they're out for a spin on their Harleys, not because they're going out of their way for standard biscuits and gravy and scrambled eggs. You can find comparable food with a more comfortable dining space. Solid, but not superior.

This is all, hectic, homey and wonderful. Only been there for breakfast, and it isn't going to be fancy. It is going to be good, quick and with amazing personal service.

Stopped here for breakfast on our way home. I've passed it a number of times before, but never stopped. Important to note, the place has very limited seating and it is a seat yourself sort of place. For some reason, I expected it to be larger. Had a number of items; eggs, pancakes, american potatoes and biscuits and gravy. Place was clean, service was friendly, the food was good and the prices were reasonable. Costs less than other breakfast places (IHOP, Cracker Barrel) and the food/service was way better than I've experienced at those. Would definitely return if in the neighborhood when they were open.

Great place for breakfast. Ambiance is cool, food is hot, fresh and plentiful. Wait staff is professional and attentive. Check it out.

I can't really explain why I enjoy this place so much. The food is good, but honestly not significantly better than other places. Seating is pretty limited. But it's a really fun place to eat! It's an old time mom and pop place and I like watching the owners choreographing their work preparing the meals in the tiny kitchen. Service is prompt, prices are reasonable, and the staff is friendly. I recommend it.

One of my weekend staples. This is one of the places that you go twice and they remember your name and what you drink. Cash only, filled with locals. I go with the breakfast special the gravy surpasses most other breakfast places.
