I've been wanting to try this place for months. MONTHS! We tried to stop in on the fly last summer, but it was standing room only with people in the vestibule and out the door. It was the same story seven months later, but thankfully this time we had a reservation and were seated as soon as we walked in the door, and unfortunately bypassing the poor saps who didn't think ahead. Lesson learned: plan ahead with this restaurant. The dining room is warm with slate tables and a great wooden ceiling effect that makes you forget that you're in a souless strip mall. They've packed in as many tables and chairs as humanly possible for optimal dining space, which means that there's no waiting room for walk ins and also, you might be mostly seated in a potted silk plant, as I was. A glass of Primitivo assuaged all of my seating angst. Both the wine and the beer lists are pretty good, although it's always a bummer that there's not a single glass of wine above $10. I always like trying new fine wines without having to commit to a full bottle and wouldn't bat an eye to pay $20 for a glass of a Cakebread red. Perk up, Wild Truffle! That gorgeous ceiling means you can aim higher than Coppolla! Let's talk about the eats, starting with the few low points. The Hot Dates appetizer was uneven. Not an issue with ingredient quality or presentation, just not a great recipe. The flavor is overwhelmed by the pepper and you miss the spicy sausage and earthy sweetness of the dates because it's just all PEPPER PEPPER PEPPER all the time. The bread service was oddly really not a win too, which was surprising considering that this is a restaurant basically building a reputation on a foundation of dough. It tasted like sour dough English Muffin, sans the corn meal. Now the wins: basically everything from entree onward. We split an order of the mac & cheese and the signature Wild Truffle pizza. The mac & cheese was rich and gooey and had the right amount of bread crumb topping. A bit of caution: the cheese here is VERY robust, which combined with the white truffle oil can overwhelm. The Wild Truffle pizza was, very simply, a masterpiece. I cannot think of a way that this dish could be improved. The crust was magnificent: crispy and thin in the "well", puffy and tender-crispy at the edges. The mushrooms were meaty and correctly cooked without having irradiated the cheese and sauce. This pie was, let's just say it, perfection. It erased all memory of the offputting Hot Dates or weird stale English muffin bread. On top of this, there was dessert (yes, we'll be fasting for the next 10-14 days). We split two: the vanilla creme brulee with bananas (which was misspelled on the menu... oof, talk about spinach in your teeth!) and the chocolate pudding, which was for all intents and purposes, a giant pot of chocolate ganache. Yes, imagine 6-8 ounces of the stuff they put inside of truffles delivered to your table with a spoon. Decadent beyond belief and the quality of the cocoa was evident. How could the vanilla creme brulee or the "banannas" compete with that? We all know that they can't, not even with a second n. I'm giving 4 stars because they have room to polish here and there (and misspellings make me cranky), but honestly, the pizza? Worth standing around a crowded vestibule for two hours if you must.

Last night was my first visit to Wild Truffle and I am glad I went. Since we had some burgers at Kroll's in GB for lunch I didn't want anything heavy. I decided on the Sweet Italian Sausage Pizza. Great choice!! The crust was crispy and firm and had that nice crack and air pockets indicative of fresh dough. The sweet Italian sausage had great flavor and the mozzarella was fresh. The next time I'm in Appleton I'll be back.

Food: very good. Recommend the pizza. The pasta is also good. Service: very inconsistent. I've been ignored by the teenage hostess, to the point where a chef came out and asked where she went. Very odd. Also I've seen the waitstaff rushing around like they were short help. I've sat at the bar and been ignored! Major downside of this place. It's too bad because the food and wine are good.

Out of pizza, no bread and appitizers after the salad. Food and wine good, but disappointing over all.

Whoa, this place is so good. My sister had the macaroni and cheese, which is in all seriousness the best mac & cheese I have ever had (and I am a mac & cheese aficionado). The pizza is also really good - the crust is perfect. The spinach and artichoke pizza was particularly tasty. The service is good, generally. Our server was friendly, if a little eccentric. Italian food in Appleton is pretty bad (Olive Garden, which is what it is, and Victoria's, which has sacrificed quality for quantity) - this place already has the best Italian food in Appleton. It's in the middle of nowhere (back behind the Wal-Mart) so you may never see it if you don't go looking for it. Go looking for it!

THIS PLACE IS FANTASTIC!! The pizza's are unique and the other entrees are second to none. Mark and his team have created a great dinning experience. Great food, great wine and great service!!

Great food. Make sure to make reservations if you are going on a weekend. The butternut squash ravoli is the best I have ever had. Service is great, they give you time to enjoy your food and table conversation while still making sure your needs are covered.

Wild Truffle pays attention to the details, from quickly clearing plates, providing fresh utensils, food prep and presentation and most importantly, taste! The arugula, melon, prosciutto salad was complimented with walnuts and a tasty balsamic glaze. The organic lamb was served with a butternut squash puree, fingerling potatoes with door county cherries. The lamb was tender, served medium rare, and flavorful. Thoughtful desserts and french press coffee brought the meal to a fine end. Only complaint: the servers are young, and although trained well, are a little unsophisticated.

When I think about my experience at Wild Truffle, the only word that can be used to describe it is "interesting." It's a nicely decorated restaurant with great service (which has its quirks) and the food is pretty good. I'm giving this place 3 stars, when it's really more like 3.5 in my opinion. Service is excellent, but it can be weird. My group of coworkers (we're all out of town) would have questions regarding the menu, but it seemed like the waiters wouldn't know if items could be nut-free or if sides could be substituted with other items - as a result, we'd have a waiter that would disappear promptly to get answers. Maybe this place is still fairly new? It's also a little funny when the waiter is going over specials, allowing us to know there is a shaved truffle pasta special "for the very low, low price of $85." Yea, that's an invitation NOT to order it. I had the woodfired peach salad with burrata cheese and arugula. It wasn't quite what I imagined when it was served. I thought the peaches would be on a bed of arugula and not vice versa. The peaches were good, but they hardly tasted wood-fired to me since they were chilled. I didn't see any kind of grill marks either and as another coworker said, "these taste like canned peaches." I beg to differ, but I enjoyed the balsamic vinegar dressing and creamy burratta on top of the sweet peaches. As an entree, I had the sea scallops with risotto. I was very happy with these gigantic scallops and the risotto was creamy and flavorful. I really enjoyed the shaved cheese on top of it. I didn't partake in dessert, but this place struck me as odd because desserts are made to order, so it's best to put in your order at the beginning of the meal. From what I could see, the gingerbread cake was a seasonal item. Dinner here can take a long time. I think we were there for 2.5 hours - most of which was spent waiting for salads and entrees. Perhaps this is what the restaurant owner is going for: a dinner experience that allows you to slow down and just enjoy dinner. It's definitely not a place for people in a rush. I'd probably come back since this was the restaurant with the best food on my business trip. If dining alone, I'd probably try to see if I could order apps or entrees at the bar if it's permitted.

We were sat immediately upon arrival, the table however was so wobbly that we almost broke a glass 2x. The people sitting next to us told us they were seated there first and asked to move ( the table was never even touched to fix the problem) I suppose we arrived at shift change because we ward 20 minutes before even being offered water. A bad start to a dinner ruins the experience sorry! The food however is phenomenal!

Terrible experience!! We arrived at 7pm on a saturday and did not have reservations. We were told there would be an hr wait. We were ok with that and decided to have a drink at the bar...bad idea! As soon as we sat down we realized everyones glasses were empty. The bar was not very busy the bartender was just horribly innefficient and clueless. We waited 20 minutes to order our drinks. We ordered off their drink menu and it was very apparent he had no idea how to make our drinks. The poor gentlemen behind us waited 20mins to order a beer. After waiting an hr with no additional service and empty glasses we decided not to wait any longer for a table. Im pretty sure the food is good but the service while we waited was awful. We wont be back. Ps...how is a "Wine Bar" out of both Riesling and Moscato? I don't drink either of those but I continuously heard the bartender telling customers they just ran out!

Horrible horrible service. Had a reservation for a business group of 12 for 6:30 on a Tuesday night (7/22/14). Was seated at 6:45... which consisted of the OWNER pointing to our table and telling us to be seated (no menus, nothing). Sat at the table for 30 minutes before a waiter came with menus. Finally took our order at 7:15. At 8:15 we still didn't have our food and the waiter came to tell me they were out of asparagus. Took them an HOUR to realize they were out of asparagus??? Finally got our food at 8:35 (almost 2 hours from being seated). Ate half and wanted it boxed. The waiter took my food and didn't come back with it boxed for another 15 minutes. Oh and... Have to tack on that 18% gratuity for a large party. Horrible. Oh and our VP went there 2 weeks ago for pizza and they didn't have any. Ummmm the word PIZZERIA is in their name on their sign!!!! Will NEVER go back! Since last night and sharing my experience I have heard SO many awful things about the owner of this place. Unreal.

Stopped here for lunch after shopping at the Fox River Mall. Pear and arugula salad is delicious--recommend very highly! Squash ravioli was good as well; however the lunch portion is shockingly tiny. Three ravioli for $10?? The spinach and goat cheese pizza left something to be desired. Goat cheese tasted slightly moldy/old. Stick to the salads... Waitress was very attentive. great service, and good atmosphere.

Owner was unrealistic with room fees, making a very poor business decision with probably one of their largest business customers. KC'ers unite and join the boycott!

Great food! I tried a pasta dish (a vegetarian option but was able to add sausage) the waitress recommended. Pasta was good with a terrific sauce. Friendly wait staff. Good desert. Note this is a more formal dining experience than I was anticipating from the other reviews but it still has a casual atmosphere (not uptight a you can often find at these high end restaurants). Would recommend if you're looking for great food and don't mind spending a little more on your night out.

The food is great but the service is terrible. It seems like the whole goal for the operator is to save money. We even talked to him about it. His response was non commital. Unfortunately, this is our last visit.

Atmosphere was excellent as was the waiter. Enjoyed the bread served with roasted garlic. Lobster bisque soup was average. Hubby and I ordered the lamb chops which were touted as the most sought after organic lamb in the country, recommended rare. Hubby loved it thought it was quite tender. Mine felt like I was eating raw meat and was a bit chewy. Love a seasoned char on it so it didn't thrill me. Friends ordered risotto and another dish and both loved them (but could've been just polite company). I didn't complain about my dish. It was a bit offputting that the chef kept coming around checking on us and bragging about the lamb, so I couldn't say I didn't like it. Will definitely go back to try the steak or open oven pizza. Dessert was Warm chocolate fondue with fresh made to order Italian zeppole (donuts). It was a very rich dessert, but nothing special.

Delicious meal. Excellent wine list. Extensive and varied. Many menu options. Higher priced, but you get the big city feel here. I had a glass of white wine and Butternut Squash Ravioli and with tip it was $30. Lovely sophisticated atmosphere and GREAT Frank Sinatra pandora channel playing :) Also, outside seating with strung lights.. :)

Had a decent experience. I feel so bad for the other reviewers who saw the owner in action. Maybe he wasn't there the night we went... I split the Wood-fired Tomato & Wisconsin Goat Cheese Fondue with a friend for an appetizer. There's definitely more of the "fondue" than there is bread. We had to ask for more. Maybe I don't know what constitutes a fondue, but it was more like a marinara dipping sauce. I had the Wild Truffle pizza by myself. It's funny because they say "handcrafted to serve one person with just a little leftover". EASILY splittable for 2...especially after eating an appetizer. Random advice from out-of-towners. They have the cutest patio out in the back. But after the sun sets...the mosquitoes in Wisconsin are vicious. We were outside for no more than 5 minutes and were completely bitten up, even with the off candles around the area. We switched to eat inside.

Excellent Pizza. Calamari was just OK, we honestly have had better. What really made the Wild Truffle loose two stars was the service and lack of kid friendly meals. We sat down with two children and must have waited a good 15 minutes before we even got a drink order. Another 15 just to get the order placed. Please note this was a Wednesday evening and far from being busy. There are no options on the menu for children. The only option for our son was buttered noodles. They were not even willing to place a half order of Mac n Cheese. Very disappointing. The restaurant is also just beer and wine. So if you are going out to dinner and looking forward to a mixed drink, you are out of luck at Wild Truffle. Overall, we might consider going back just as a couple, but as a family, we wont even consider going back.

My family and I were really impressed with the great food here. They have a lot of options and it was tough to decide. We shared a cheese plate, which was delicious. I got the butternut squash ravioli and that was fantastic, too. My husband loved the braised pork osso bucco and highly recommends that. I would go back again.

I can't decide what is the proper rating for this place. I've been there only a handful of times and the food is absolutely amazing. All of it. BUT I went there last week with one other person. We both ordered a glass of wine. The waitress informed us, it would be cheaper to get a bottle. We look down at the menu and next to the wine was 12 / 25. Ok, so we would split a $25 bottle of wine. Sure. We each had a bowl of soup ($5 and $7) and split a $17 pizza. Then the $85 bill came. We look at the bill and were charged $52 for the bottle of wine. We ask our waitress about the charge and show it that it only said $25 on the menu. She then replied (snippy) that those were prices for a glass and a carafe. There was no mention of carafe anywhere and no mention of $52 ANYWHERE on the wine menu. I think it's safe to assume most people would look at the 2 prices next to the wine and think GLASS/BOTTLE. She should have informed us of the price or they should PUT IT ON THE MENU. With 3 prices. If they have 3 different options with 3 different prices, that's the kind of information that goes on a menu. So that being said, I won't be back there anytime soon. Felt like I got robbed and I bet they get a TON of people like that.

Food was pretty good. Ate a seafood stew, which consisted of shrimp, mussels, fish, scallops, all grilled, and thrown on top of spaghetti and mixed together in some tomato base sauce which tasted either smoked or burnt. The food was ok. We did have some awesome desserts. Tiramisu was ok. We had 2 other plates we shared, but i cant member what they were. The bar area does have a good selection of beers, and wines. Ambiance was nice.

Had a great night! Pork osso bucco, beef short ribs, and veal piccata. All amazing. Lemoncella mousse and butterscotch pudding- 18 year old scotch in there!! Not your grocery store SnakPak. Mmmm... Service was excellent, and the decoration is lovely. We had a great night. They obviously put a lot of work into everything there. Would definitely recommend, and will soon be regulars!

Food has always been very good. I prefer the pastas over the pizza, but you can't go wrong with either. Atmosphere is good as long as the owner isn't mingling with the patrons. Service has always been top notch on my visits.

I have mixed feelings about Wild Truffle. The food is good - especially the pizza. The menu changes occasionally, and the specials are usually fabulous. Favorites include - spaghetti puttanesca, bucatini with bolognese, penne with sausage, and mushroom pizza. But, the service is very inconsistent, and it always seems to take ridiculously long to get a table. Plus, it isn't a great place for conversation or lingering. It is always loud, and the tables are very close together.

Oh my god! Real food has finally made it the Fox Valley! In an area dominated by chain food, a place where going to the Olive Garden is a big night out, this place is a breath of fresh air! I think what makes me the happiest is, being a West Coast eater, that the owner of the place was inspired by a spot up in Pike's Place in Seattle and brought the wood fired pizza back home with him! Proof, again, that we Pacific Northwest kids KNOW how to eat! We started with a creamy mushroom soup that was angelic to say the least (especially washed down with a classic Bellini) and then the pizza came out! We had the classic Margarita, Chicken pesto and, my favorite, Carbinara! each was oblong, served on wooden boards and light and Delicious!

We were pleasantly impressed by the WT. Stop there on a whim. The atmosphere is nice, and the place was packed for a Tuesday night. We lucked out and were seated right away. The service was friendly, and everything came as requested. The apps took a little long to come out, but came out hot and fresh. The entrees were excellent (we both had pasta dishes), and want to come back to try the pizzas. Everything was on the heavy side, but tasty. The owner came buy after we finished to check in, which is a nice touch. He did try to push his other restaurant, but who can blame him, especially after we told him we enjoyed this one. The only downfall; we thought the prices were a tad high, but nothing crazy. Note to people who don't like waiting for tables: I understand the waiting area might not be ideal, but the wait is a sign that people enjoy the place. If you don't want to wait, go somewhere else, or call ahead. Good things come to those who wait.

Went here for the 1st time tonight and based on some of the negative reviews I read on yelp, I was really watching for that terrible service that a bunch of people complained about. Sorry, I didn't see it. Our waiter was excellent and the rest of the staff seemed very friendly and accommodating. Our drinks were always full. If our waiter was busy doing something else, the other servers were there if we needed something in a flash. Now the food... We ordered the Bruschetta sampler appetizer which had 2 of each of their 3 different Bruschetta. All 3 were excellent. They main coarse we ordered the Wild Truffle pizza and the Mac and Cheese w/ crab meat. We were blown away by HOW good both were! As long as I live, I will never have store bought Mac and Cheese ever again after having this stuff. I didn't give it a 5 star rating because I don't feel any place could be "perfect". We did make a reservation because of the reputation of it being very busy all the time. Well, we went at 6:30 and it was raining most of the day on a Thursday and it wasn't busy at all. Maybe 10 people in the place. So, maybe the service is worse during busier times which is another reason I won't give it a 5 star. Truth is, I haven't been there enough to know, but I will say we were very satisfied by our service. We were also approached by the owner to see how our meal was, which I always find to be a nice gesture. The ambience was very comfortable and cozy. The service was great and the food was incredible. Prices were reasonable for the quality of the food. We can't wait to go again and try some of the other dishes on the menu! Give em a shot, I think you'll enjoy this place.

The reviews about sketchy service are RIGHT ON. We arrived and were told that there were no seats available inside and that the wait outside was 45 minutes. After about 7 minutes the hostess found us and brought us to a table. Excellent, right? Wrong. They sat us at a table and gave us some menus and water. About twenty minutes passed (which gave us ample time to study the menu, which deserves to be studied because it is good) without being greeted by a server, so we started to get worried. We waited ten more minutes and nobody greeted us so we sought help, we told the hostess that we had been waiting for a half-hour with no server. Several minutes later a server arrived and introduced himself, apologized, and left again. We didn't see him for a good ten or fifteen minutes. For the inconvenience of forgetting about us he gave us 2 free appetizers. We ordered and began to wait again. Other tables seemed to be getting very good service, their servers were attentive and stopped by regularly to check on them. Ours: not so much. The main dishes beat the appetizers, a faux-pas for which the server apologized again and this time offered us free dessert (3 desserts, one for each of us). When the food did get to us it was quality: we enjoyed it, we had 2 plates of pasta and a pizza. I got the chicken marsala, which was enjoyable. Not extremely noteworthy, somewhat of a small portion, but I would give it at least 4/5 stars. The desserts were excellent too, but the bad service left such an impression on us that we won't return. I'd rather get a $5 hot'n ready from LIttle Caesars than deal with the abysmal service at the Wild Truffle. If you're looking for a fairly up-scale pizza joint in the Neenah/Appleton area I would recommend Cannova's. They can get busy but I've never had bad service: the servers have all been quite awesome, even if we had to wait an hour and a half for a table.

Had lunch here last week and dinner last night and felt they deserved a Yelp. Lunch was not crowded at all and was great for a business conversation. Had an excellent mushroom soup which I would give 5 stars, and I don't usually like mushroom soup. Also had the BLT which was good enough for 4 stars. Great for lunch, great service, not too loud, easy to get in. Dinner on a Wednesday night was full and it seemed like very few of the parties had reservations. I would recommend reservations and a bit of patience. No one mans the bar or front area so when you come in you're basically waiting for a server to walk by. It seemed a bit disorganized which I could attribute to so few reservations so how would they know how many staff to have? However, this seems to be a pattern in other reviews so you should plan to be patient when you arrive. Had the short ribs for dinner and they were excellent - 5 stars. Very solid beer and wine selection complemented the meal. Overall, food has been excellent both visits and this place is worth the potential for some spotty service. Bring your patience and lower expectations on service and you'll be fine. When the servers are with you, they are pretty good. They just aren't always around.

The people sitting next to us told us they were seated there first and asked to move ( the table was never even touched to fix the problem) I suppose we arrived at shift change because we ward 20 minutes before even being offered water. A bad start to a dinner ruins the experience sorry! The food however is phenomenal!

Fantastic! Cute atmosphere, amazing tuna carpaccio, Caesar salad, bolognese, and scallops with mushroom risotto! Waitstaff was very attentive and gave great suggestions. A must!

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
