Jim's Place is a classic local Appleton bar. The bar itself is wooden and has ample space for people to sit. The crowd is pretty mixed: college students, 20-30-something townies, and throw in a couple old guys. The staff here is so friendly! I love the bartenders. They're always happy to replenish my water and never make me feel guilty for not ordering a drink (yeah, I know, I'm lame). When my friend moved away from Appleton, we threw her a goodbye party here because this was always her favorite bar. The group of us took up all of the tables and the staff was very attentive to all of us. The bartenders even played jukebox music just for us. The locals were as friendly as usual and chatted with some of us. What I love about Jim's Place is that it's laid-back (though not as much as, say, The Nickel) and you can still easily have a conversation with someone instead of yelling over the music. Also, the way the bar is set up makes it pretty easy to chat with people you don't know, which I like. Fun fact: I hung out with my professor here once!

I can't believe it took me this long to ever try this place... Strong drinks, cozy atmosphere, decent prices (I was a little, well a lot, surprised that my drinks cost more in small town WI than in Big City Louisville...), bar dice, good music in the background. It get's a thumbs up from me!

Great dive bar. A Lawrence and Townie hybrid that keep it real in A town. Stiff drinks, fair prices, cool bartenders consistently. This is a bar's bar.

Ended up here on New Year's Eve courtesy of a local's tip. We were looking for a good craft beer place and this joint hit the spot with some good brews on tap and cozy atmosphere. Nice big wooden bar, friendly folks, and 'Radio Friendly Unit Shifter' on the jukebox for one credit. Score!

We swung by here looking to get something to eat and have a beer or two. The atmosphere was warm and cozy, the beer was good and the bartender was friendly. I ordered the steak and it was OK but had quite a bit of fat on it. The menu consist of typical American food at it looked decent.

Great old school irish joint. Nice tap selection of imports, comfy and lived-in looking. Super cool bartenders. Gets an A from me, kids. Plus they play Garage Rock on satellite radio so it made me extra comfy.
