We want to Dickey's last night for the first time after seeing the billboard, on HWY 41...when we walked in we were hit with the smell of BBQ, and warm welcome to Dickey's! The menu was so "big" we didn't know even where to start. The guy cutting meat who I believe his name is Pat was very helpful in explaining the menu and was good to eat. The food was great once we sat down and had our first ordering experience. It was also really nice how a manager walks around in fast food restaurant came up to us to make sure everything was good, thank you Eric. We don't really have to much experience with BBQ so that is why gave it three stars, but from what we know of the area this is the only BBQ food in town. Great Food, Great service, Very clean!

I've given this place a few tries, but have yet to see an improvement from the previous visit. By the time I get my food and sit down it's cold, no matter what I order. The quality seems like it's there with the meat, the sides are another story. The staff are usually friendly. The sauces are great though, and gotta love the Big Yellow Cup.

We visited the Dickie's BBQ Pit on Sept 4 for lunch. After receiving our food we sat across from the register. We noticed a manager (blond haired lady) move between the back office, cash register, and food prep area without ever stopping to wash her hands. There was also a young man sitting at a table while on break. While on break he mainly sat on his phone. When his break was over he propped open a door, lit a cigarette, and started smoking. He was still in the building and was just blowing the smoke out the back door. When he was done, he walked straight back to the food prep area and started serving food. No gloves or handwashing. As casual as everyone was and the condition of the store it appears that this is pretty commmon. I spoke to the manager before leaving and she simplify replied that "she'd take care of it." I went back out to the table and she didn't come out before we left and he kept serving food. We trashed our food and left.

Food was fair; meat was bland, but sauces were decent. Sides were forgettable (frozen fries, boxed mac and cheese, canned beans). Kids' nuggets were (quite literally) Tyson dino nuggets. Portions were small, especially considering the price, and service was poor/rude. I'll stick with Famous Dave's or Texas Roadhouse for barbecue.

Not what I expected. I got a 3x meat combo to go. Pulled Pork, Beef Brisket, Ribs w/ BBQ Beans and Waffle Iron Fries. Beans and fries were pretty good. The meats don't come sauced which is likely just their style, and I'm okay with that. But, if you're not going to sauce you'd sure better season and they didn't. The pork was bland, like it was steamed. The brisket was boring. The "ribs" were each about 2" long and only fat and gristle...seriously. I should have took a picture, because I think they are serving kitten ribs. Stick with Famous Dave's.

The first time I would give 0 stars if it was an option. My daughter and I had lunch here Friday afternoon. We both ordered the cornbread pulled pork sandwich. The sandwich - the bun was cold, crumbly and tasteless (threw 80% of it away) pulled pork - edible, but not good We had high hopes for the sides we each ordered....but again they were not good. Mac & Cheese - think buffet style freezer mac Potato salad - I can't even describe the taster other than just horrible Coleslaw - bland (even KFC has better coleslaw) baked beans - they were ok The service and staff were about as happy to be there as I was. I had to repeat my order to each person as I moved through the line...they all seemed distracted??? The highlight??? I would say the big yellow soda cup and the crushed ice in the soda machine. Sorry it's the only highlight I could think of. We left feeling hungry and like we just wasted 20 bucks. Sincerely, Never going back again....ever. YUCK!!!

The ribs and pulled pork were dry and tasteless. The food was also overpriced. There are better choices in the area for barbecue.

I like Dickey's as a chain. I used to live in Kansas City and they had Dickey's there-- BBQ has to be good to compete in Kansas City. When I moved to Appleton I was excited to find Dickey's here. I ordered what I always order, a quarter plate of chopped brisket with mac and cheese and onion straws (because if you're going to eat something bad for you, just do it). The mac and cheese and onion straws were good. The brisket was not. I took two bites (the second one just to make sure that the first bite was as bad as I thought it was) and fed the rest to the dog. I might go back to this Dickey's, but only for the sides.

Food was old and when we asked about getting something fresh the "owner" got fresh" with us. Ridiculous service, a disgrace to this company name. Will not return and will take our team outings somewhere we are appreciated!!

Have been multiple times now. Food is great! Agree with the other reviewers that the staff is rude. Are they supposed to be? i.e. "DICKeys". Either make it clear that funny/rude is what we are to expect (I've been to places like that before) or try to smile. We do that in Wisconsin. Or at least we used to, but things just aren't the same in Appleton anymore.

The food was fine, the Employees were good but what seemed to be the manager, Anthony was his name. Was absolutely terrible. The way he treated his employees by talking down to them and being incredibly rude for no reason was disgusting. This made us very uncomfortable to sit there and hear Anthony berate these very fine employees makes us never want to go back again. The barbecue was fine and the employees who served us were very kind and accommodating. Just will not go back and support this manager who does not deserve our business.

I came to Dickey's tonight with my girlfriend rather excited that a new BBQ restaurant had opened in the area. Someone where I work had just gotten lunch from there today and I hadn't seen the food, so I figured I would try it. Well I did and I won't be coming back for one main reason: The food is bad. I love BBQ. This place obviously doesn't know what they're doing. I ordered brisket and when I got my plate it was chopped up like dog food and it was cold. I had gotten the two meat plate and ordered turkey breast and there were three slices of turkey. The only thing that was warm on my plate was my fried okra. If you want good BBQ in the Appleton area, visit The Cozzy Corner, Famous Dave's or Texas Roadhouse before this place...

Fine if you're looking for some quick bbq but avoid their catering. We used them for our wedding and not only was their staff unprofessional but they did not bring enough food / did not have proper portion control when serving and some guests went unfed.

Went here on a whim with no expectations. We intended on using our local highschool's coupon card. We had the brisket and pulled pork. We were asked if we wanted the brisket sliced or chopped. We had the chopped and sampled both the hot and spicy and the original sauces. They were both pretty good. For sides we had the fried okra and the jalapeño beans. They were just fine, there could've been more jalapeños. There is free self serve ice cream. The ice cream is just OK, a cheap dessert. Spent $15 on the two of us and we were pretty full. Not top shelf, but a good value proposition as another local eating option.

I have been to Dickey's in Appleton a couple of times and have mixed feelings. I liked the Lil' Hoagie but I have to agree with Scott B on the brisket. It makes it hard to eat all chopped up even though the server told me it would be served like that but I wanted to try something different. Brisket is usually sliced. To me the sides are useless except for the waffle iron fries which you can get at any restaurant. The rest of the sides seem like they are taken out of cans and warmed and don't have much flavor. The employees are very nice and personable and explain everything. Ordering is somewhat labored and gets easier the second time around. It is also a bit pricey for a fast food restaurant and we will only come again if we order the daily special. For a family of three we spent $30. The daily specials usually include the big yellow cup which is a big savings of $2.25!
