friendly. delicious. Mexican. i had the torta al pastor, and it tasted different than any pastor i'd had before - in the very best way possible. the server was also kind enough to bring me some salsa verde. even though the torta didn't "need" it, i like to douse everything with that stuff. best of all, this place reminded me of the taquerias i would go to when i lived in Chicago. i'll definitely be back.

Our family stopped get passing from Minnesota. A combination of previous praise and no-so-great reviews of surrounding restaurants drew us here. The tables and decor were cute, definitely an independent business but well put together. The waiter was very nice, engaging but not overwhelming. The food was excellent, some of the best guacamole I've ever had. It was full of cilantro (if you don't like cilantro, do not order it) and was served with warm, thick chips. The drinks were served chilled in plastic bottles, which I found off. This is the only thing that may improve the experience- a chilled glass or a drink poured over ice. I had beef enchiladas, which had quite a bit of onion (which I usually don't mind but there was a lot!). It was topped with avocado slices and served with rice and refried beans. The enchiladas were good, though there was a lot of cheese on top. Toning it down (even in Wisconsin) might have brought out their delicious sauce! My mother had chicken enchiladas, which she said were somewhat dry, though edible. My cousin had a kids tostada, she liked it a lot. Very nice for an independent restaurant. I will stop again when we travel trough Wisconsin.

On our way from Door County back to the Twin Cities, we needed a dinner break and opted to see what was available in Abbotsford. Our son checked his iPhone and suggested Cafe Mexico. So we roll up and kinda gulp nervously as the outside looks a bit dodgy. Throwing caution to the winds, I pronounce our need for an adventure and we enter. The interior is a bit of an improvement but we're still somewhat apprehensive. We're also the only non-Hispanics ... and we remained the only non-Hispanics for the remainder of the visit. My son and daughter-in-law start reading the menu and nod approvingly. They are fluent Spanish speakers, lived in Buenos Aires and have traveled in other South and Central American countries as well as Mexico so we defer to their judgement. The food was un-freaking-believably good. In a word: stupendous. So good that all was consumed, plates passed around but jealously guarded so not too much food was sampled. Between the six adults we had fajitas (yeah, I know but our other son adores fajitas), green moles with pork and chicken, poblano moles (again with chicken and pork), tacos pastor and some other type of dough with lettuce, meat and cheese on top of it. Each of the entrees came with refried beans and Mexican rice. None of the entrees cost more than $6.99. (because there was so much food for such low prices, we tipped generously.) Now Abbotsford is too far for us to drive over for just another meal. But each of us is trying to figure out another reason to go to Central-Central Cheeseland so we can just sorta drop in again. Try it sometime.

So delicious. The waiter said they make absolutely everything in-house. The nachos include a handmade cheese sauce that he said they melt their own cheese blend into. I absolutely recommend those nachos with chorizo (also made in-house). Do not miss this place it is fabulous and completely authentic!

This place is great! The food is made all in-house and it tastes very good. The price is very affordable and we left full and satisfied. Also, the bakery is amazing. If you are looking for authentic Mexican food, this is your place. Stop in and try it out!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
