Absolutely amazing, I'm very happy that it is within walking distance to my house. They have cold brew on nitro!

Really good coffee! Brewed Stumptown coffee and tasty pastries, makes this a great place to get a cup of coffee. Plenty of indoor seating and some outdoor seating. Staff are super friendly. Great little hole in a wall place. I highly recommend it!

Just came in for a bite. They have beautiful desserts from Treat Bakery. The cinnamon bundt came did not disappoint at all

It's brighter in here than before. It appears that they have re-modeled or at least stuck in another window. Other than that, it's still pretty darn wunnerful. If they ever put a Woody's Tacos in this center, I will seriously reconsider my relocation plans. Stumptown and treats from Treat; what more could you want? Please consider trying the fare at River Maiden should you find yourself in the area.

My maiden voyage at River Maiden Artisan Coffee was a meld of a decaf latte and a lot of relaxation. This is the kind of comfy coffee shop that locals love ... with a fair coffee maiden behind the counter and Stumptown beans in a cup. You know what they say ... When in the Couve, do what Couves do. Basically, drink coffee, hang out, and relax using free WiFi. Be sure to Check-in to get $0.50 off a cup of coffee ... and then leave a $0.50 tip. The River Maiden Artisan Coffee shop is located between the 14 and Mill Plain Road about half-way between the 5 and 205. It's deep in Vancouver, WA ... perfect for locals who've got a cravin' for coffee from a River Maiden.

Staff was very friendly. We went to try a new coffee place because were new to the area and we went specifically because i found on facebook and saw all the coffee art and i thought it was cool.. i was sorta dissapointed, with the art. I figured because i told them i was a first timer and i came for the coffee art they would do something a tad more then a heart.. the coffee was alright.. but i loved at the merchandise, like tge cu po s and shirt they had to offer!

Love the friendly and efficient staff. The options are endless and they are happy to customize your drinks. Love the t-shirts, I have two!

Great quaint little coffee shop tucked away with great side seating in the room next door.

Excellent espresso shot. Crema filled the cup through to the last drop, and the smoothness really helped break up my drive. Also their cappuccino was well executed with sweetness and beautiful care. The ambiance was traditional and clean with framed coffee bags on the wall. I Can't wait to try the nitro tapped cold brew on our next visit. The pair of baristas were friendly and genuinely appeared to have fun with their job and stoked on their delicious product.

My favorite place to get coffee in the Couve area. They use Stumptown coffee which is top notch quality. They make there lattes perfect you can still taste the coffee it's not overpowered by the flavors they add to it. Their staff is very knowledgeable, nice and down to earth

Wonderful coffee. Yummy snacks. Friendly ambiance. What more could you ask for? Great selection of coffee, and tea. Wide range of snacks from cookies to bran muffins. We stayed almost until closing time, chatting and losing track of time. Not once did we feel like anyone was watching to see when we would leave, you know how people do sometimes when it's close to closing and they want you to hurry so they can get their closing duties finished... If felt like they were happy to have us there. I highly recommend everything there, the drinks, snacks, and especially the awesome service.

Oh how I miss GOOD coffee. I moved out of Vancouver in 1998. When I first left, I didn't realize that other parts of the country (namely LV) were so behind when it comes to the art of coffee. It's been 17 years and I still can't find a place that compares to River Maiden I was in the area over the holidays, so I had to stop by. I keep it simple - just give me a latte. It's all I need. Oh my, it's like heaven in a cup (that is if heaven existed). Even my wife, who hates coffee, thought it was amazing. Thank you River Maiden. Hopefully this one visit will appease me until next Xmas.

Thank God for my new Yelp obsession. Without it, I'd have no idea that this coffee shop existed... and it's only 2.5 miles from my house. I've been mainly driving thru the corporate stops for the last year or so because I was too lazy to get my 2 year old out of the car and I wasn't aware of a better place nearby. No more. I see the light. Yep, River Maiden has good coffee and tasty pastries and I'll be a regular there before they're even ready for me. I love the bacon and cheese scone thing. I've had two in four days. And their mocha is yummy too.

I Come to the PNW every summer on vacation and I start my day with River Maidens coffee. Simply the best in the Vancouver/Portland area. And the nicest friendliest true baristas you can find. I recommend the mocha and cold brew!!!

Pitch-perfect mud with a sense of humor! Beautiful, recently remodeled interior makes this oddly-placed strip-mall coffee shop a true find. Be sure to try: Alpuccino! Their coldbrew or anything that comes out of their Clover. And the most reasonably priced cups of Stumptown roasted coffee in Vancouver, or Portland. All of their signature merch with movie themes (Vantucky Strikes Back, Couvies Never Say Die!, The Couve Abides...) are hilarious! Beware: Staff aren't always friendly (but many of them are!). But all of them are highly skilled baristas. Makes their use of Stumptown coffee quite fitting.

This place was referred to me by a friend, and I'm glad we've tried it out. Friend staff :) flavorful coffee and milk alternatives such as my favorite Almond milk yay!! Great hangout place to chill or catch up with friends and over delish coffee. We're definitely coming back again :)

Joelle rocks the cortado in Vansterdam. Every time I get coffee from her it is the best. Always a smile and always very supportive of the customers coffee needs... And every time I come in there's a different T-shirt, now it's one that says Vansterdam. Crowded today in the wind and cold. A little bit off the beatentrack but well worth it. Every bit as good as any espresso I've had in the Portland area.

Great coffee shop~ it looks average and ho-hum from the outside but once you step in, it's pretty packed with potential! I came here while on a trip to Portland, utilizing yelp to find a spot for my friends (who are in Vancouver) and I to meet. I only had an hour or so in the morning, so I didn't dick around in choosing a place that 1) appealed to me 2) my friends have never been to and 3) served up a fantastic cup of coffee. River Maiden definitely met and surpassed my expectations! I got there around 10:15ish on a saturday morning, initially a little worried about scoring a seat inside since it was mid-morning on a super hot weekend. But they've got this open, spacious sitting room with plenty of tables and chairs so thankfully that wasn't a problem. The line at the register was bustling, which I took as a good sign, and eventhough it was backed up pretty much to the door, the line moved quickly. My friend ordered an iced coffee and a snickerdoodle cookie (great flavor combo, don't ya think?) and I ended up with a coffee con panna (which I asked for in a paper cup- which was kinda a weird request, but i really really love their 'vantucky strikes back' stamp and well, wanted that on my coffee cup. little things that that make me happy, you know? :) and a sea-salt chocolate chip cookie... which equaled very little (but way strong!) coffee, a lot of sugar and a sprinkle of salt. Totally what I needed to get me through the morning! So yeah, 5 stars for this place... well thought out layout, friendly service, plenty of space to relax, super clean, and reasonably priced- with tasty coffee and treats! Can wait to come back when I in the area again, happy that I turned my friends onto River Maiden.

The coffee was phenomenal as well as the pastries. I was caught a little off guard by the small coffee menu (frequent Starbucks girl) but decided on the hazlenut latte. I was not disappointed at all and would make this my regular coffee place if it were a little closer to me. The Stumptown coffee they use along with the careful way they craft your drink made for the best cup of coffee I've ever had with a bonus really cute leaf on top in the form of foam. The cheddar bacon biscuit is delicious and a must try. If you get there and they have these available, get one or all of them. They sell out of them fast and for good reason.

  • Funky M.

This place has good coffee using monin syrups which are more natural and no corn syrup. They lack in flavor a little so we get an extra pump. They take the time to make little designs on the hot drinks. their baristas are pretty cool, however there is one girl who rubbed us the wrong way a couple of times. Once we got to know her, she's cool though. She just comes off as a little brash at first I think. They only have up to 16 ounce cups and don't do blended which is why I am only giving 4 stars. The vibe is cool, they have couches and quite a few tables plus a room apart from where you order. Local photography is hung up which I always love looking at. Overall, good coffee shop.

  • Gretchen H.

This has been our favorite coffee shop for over 8 years. The staff is attentiveand cool without being smug and the coffee is good enough to wreck you for all other coffee shops. Prices went up a little after the remodel. We understand the need but, we do go less often now. $4+ buck for cold brew is pricat. However the quality and service just can't be beat. And the baked goods are freakin' awesome!! Try a soy cappuccino and a snickerdoodle.

  • Vito L.

Absolutely love the coffee here. The baristas are always nice and most important of all make a great latte. I make an effort to come by every time I'm close.

River Maiden is a locally-owned neighborhood coffee shop. Features Stumptown coffee and pastries from Treat, a locally-owned purveyor of confections. Items are served by friendly, experienced baristas and the clientele consists largely of regulars and locals resulting in a welcoming, comfortable place to grab a quick cup of coffee/tea and/or a pastry if you're in a hurry or to have a seat and stay a while. If you are looking for a place to have an excellent cup of coffee with your neighbors served by your neighbors and support local business this is it; a true asset to our neighborhood. Hands-down the best coffee shop in Vancouver.

My friend and I started our road trip here after a late lunch. We were tired from travelling in from various states and food coma from scarfing down burgers, and we had many miles to go before we'd arrive at our hotel. Stumptown coffee = delish. Friendly, patient, not (too) snobby baristas who actually took the time to explain their offerings to two women who were clearly exhausted. My friend's drink would have had two shots of espresso, and she only wanted one, and the guy was kind enough to offer the extra shot to me. He basically became my hero! I loved the feel of this place. There was plenty of cozy seating in the room off the main area, and I could totally imagine people sitting there for ages, never leaving. In fact, before we left for our flights back home a week later, I really wanted to stop by here again. Sadly, it was a bit out of the way. That's okay, River Maiden, I will find you again.

Visiting from CA and visited this place thanks to yelp reviews. The pastries are the best I've had in Portland and I'd say my trip to Paris has nothing on these pastries; they are great! Love the strawberry rhubarb and berry pie. Coffee was very good and staff is super friendly; thanks for the hiking tips! If I'm back in the area this will be on the list of places I have to visit.

Best coffee in Vancouver. Marionberry scone is also quite delicious. Love this mom and pop shop. Friendly staff too.

  • Marjory B.

There is an abundance of coffee to be had in the Portland area, and while River Maiden does brew Stumptown well, it just doesn't stand out to me compared to other coffee places. I found both the service and the ambiance to be lacking somewhat at the time the boyfriend and I were here back when the weather was still warm, but perhaps it was just an off day. The lattes were good but we weren't impressed. This is one of those places you stop in if you really want a coffee and you're nearby, not so much one to go out of your way for.

I'm reviewing this place as I frequent here to get work done. The staff is super friendly and polite and knowledgable about coffee as well as the community. There is plenty of space to sit as well as an abundance of outlets if you need to plug in. The coffee is brewed fresh and is good. What more could you ask for?

I was curious when I saw their sign. It's a little off the beaten path, but so worth it. Delicious fresh pastries and stump town coffee. Cute area to meet a friend for a chat too. Stop by this spot, you won't be disappointed.

Delicious coffee love the Clover machine. Took my Stump town brew to new heights I never thought possible in Washington. Great selection of house made baked good and super friendly staff.

This shop is awesome! If you want a father light cappuccino or the perfectly poured shot this is the place to go. They are friendly, talented baristas who can make a damn good cup of coffee and top it off with amazing latte art. Plus they serve stump town. I would totally recommend.

If you simply want really really good coffee, lattes, espressos, etc. dont be scared off by the appearance! Yes, the location and storefront may seem a little meh, and maybe off-putting, and the inside isn't exactly the coziest, or portland-esque. They are open pretty late for a coffee shop, especially around here. And it IS a great place to go if you want a good cup of coffee while being able to sit indoors. Also, the beans they used when I went were great. They carry different kinds, and I wish I knew which one it was, but I dont. All I know is it is hard to find a great quality espresso (not burnt, pulled correctly) around here(Plus some fancy Foam Art), and I think I found it. Only thing is, when we went so late, the sun was set. There was barely any lighting in the first room, and weird harsh lighting in the side room. Maybe better lighting, some comfy chairs, and I know far-fetched, but a fireplace would be dreamy! Try this place out! And maybe one day they can move into a perfect location, and I will probably move in :)

Great spot to have coffee with you're friends. The Stumptown coffee was delicious, the service was outstanding, all of the staff were very friendly and inviting. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because I would've loved to stay and transition into happy hour but they don't serve beer &/or wine. I will definitely go back for a great cup of coffee and a great spot to catch up with friends.

Best little coffee shop in the area. Their Carmel Frappe is the best blended drink I've ever had. So creamy, and great coffee flavor.

  • Nicole H.

I can't say how much I love this place, great to stop in and grab a quality cup or stay in and use the wifi. They're looking to remodel soon, which scares me a bit because right now the place is so very cozy. My partner can stay online for hours and I curl up in one of the big chairs with a book. The staff are so friendly too, this place really is that neighborhood coffee shop you've been looking for.

A little hole in the wall type shop with great coffee. I had the carmelo, it was delicious, pastries were fresh and very tasty and the staff was friendly and helpful. Will definitely be coming back!

This is my favorite coffee shop in Vancouver. I'm a coffee shop snob. I care about the coffee, the food, and the atmosphere. This place fits the bill. The employees are great. The wifi is reliable. I always enjoy my drinks. The other patrons are polite. It's cozy for reading in a big fluffy chair and also great to work on my laptop. I like this coffee shop as much as my favorite Portland haunts.

  • Tony I.

Last time to visit. I asked for my coffee (regular drip) in a to go cup thinking I could get the 1 free refill on my way out. Guy says 'no, only mugs for here get a refill'. Would it kill your profit margin to refill a 12 oz cup of drip coffee I just paid $2.75 for? I'm not asking for an all-day coffee tap or anything special, it's drip coffee FFS! and not any different than you can get at the numerous other coffee shops in the area. The coffee is good, but it's nothing special.

  • Adam B.

I'm grading them on their coffee because isn't that what a coffee place should be reviewed for!? Their coffee is so delicious. It's easily the best I've found in Vancouver, WA. Don't let their modest/meh exterior & location fool you - this is the real deal. Their pumpkin lattes actually taste like pumpkin not pumpkin sugar juice. Fun people work there, always friendly, and a good selection of pastries. While there is ample seating, I wish it were a little cozier.

  • Jamie D.

I'm so glad I tried this place! Compared to other coffee shops I frequent, they are both less expensive AND taste much better than Starbucks, using delicious local Stumptown beans. Plus, they have super friendly staff and they carry rice milk. I can't have soy or dairy, so this is a major plus for me. My favorite part though... they have plenty of tables and plenty of outlets next to them to plug your computer in when you are using their free wi-fi. They also have comfy sofas and outdoor seating. I think I'm in love with the River Maiden!

  • Les C.

One of the best coffee houses ever...if not the absolute best in Vancouver! Staff is always super friendly and offer an extremely low-key inviting atmosphere. I never want to get my coffee "to-go" because I enjoy finding a seat, sipping my cup of joe and surfing the net, reading or visiting with friends. Plus, they have the best T-Shirts ever. I have one in every color they offer and every time I wear it I get comments from other "River Maiden Fans"! Highly recommended! For the coffee and the experience!

When in Vancouver there is no other option that this place. Staff is super friendly and makes you feel like a regular even though I had never set foot in the joint. Local pastries top the menu. I will be back should I show up again in Vancouver.

I am new to the area and have heard everybody and their mother rave about coffee in the Northwest. They are not lying. The coffee I have had at River Maiden makes it impossible for me to step foot into Starbucks again. Ever. And the pastries (especially the black and blue scone) are delicious. To top it all off, they are Star Wars nerds and had the place decorated in honor of "May the Fourth Be With You." Great service, great coffee. Thanks!

  • James R.

Our family's favorite coffee house. I don't drink coffee but my wife and daughters love the place. The people are great, if you come often enough they will know you by name. I even had the surreal experience of coming by to pick up a coffee for my wife and as I described what she wanted, they asked "are you sos-in-so's husband, she always orders that?" They then proceeded to ask about my daughters, who were also avid customers. Just a good place altogether.

When I walk through the doors of River Maiden, I can't help but laugh a little to myself. Prior to being a coffee shop, this space was occupied by a dull drivers ed school where I reluctantly spent my Tuesday and Thursday evenings while learning to drive. Who would have guessed that the place I dreaded being around years ago would eventually turn into one of my favorite spots in town! No matter when you stop by River Maiden, you are certain to be greeted by a chipper barista(s) who is eager to serve you something delicious! As one of the few places on this side of the river that uses Stumptown coffee, you are in for a treat with whatever you order. In addition to coffee, there is a variety of teas (Tao of Tea) and tasty looking pastries to suit your mood. I definitely wish a coffee shop like this would have been around to help keep me awake during my drivers ed days! Open from 7am to 7pm every weekday, you really have no excuse not to stop by! Just a heads up, if you are not use to artisan coffee shops, make sure you leave a little extra time if you have someplace to rush off to afterward. Drinks are crafted one at a time so it takes a moment or two to make, but it is definitely worth the wait!

This is by far the best place to get coffee in the 'Couve in my opinion. Stumptown is my fave and their baristas make awesome drinks and are really personable and genuinely interested in their customers. I love the decor and t-shirts they sell too, very hip & modern!

    (5)
  • Michelle H.

A slice of Portland hidden amidst the burbs because seriously, everywhere you turn there is a Fivebucks. It's almost impossible to find a decent cup of coffee. However, if you find yourself on the north side of the Columbia, this is *the* place to go to get your Stumptown fix. These baristas are a whole lot less pretentious and snotty, too. [Minus a star because the decor is pretty lifeless, especially in the second room with more seats. Coffee shop atmosphere is kind of crucial. Did that stop us from staying almost an hour while we sipped our coffee down? Nope!]

The BEST coffee place in the couve. Friendly service and the coffee is truly out of this world. I come here every chance I get.

  • Zain K.

I hate to have to offer a slightly dissenting review, but I wasn't terribly impressed. Other reviewers have raved about the Stumptown coffee, but to me it was slightly bitter; it's probably an acquired taste, and I don't think I'll be in Washington state long enough to acquire it. In addition to not being crazy about the coffee, and not being to find anything I wanted to eat amongst the small assortment of pastries, I found the ambiance a little uninviting. Scanning the reviews, I see that the space used to be a driving school or some such thing, and it still feels a bit like one. Perhaps they're still working on making this a cozier place to hang out, which I hope they do because there's a lot of potential here. The staff were very welcoming and affable, so I feel a little guilty not being able to give RMA 4*, but it's simply not there yet.

  • Justin G.

Good coffee, weird ambience. Yes, they have Stumptown, which I am a fan of, and they have a now more-rare Clover machine (since Stumptown doesn't use them anymore) which produced an amazing cup of Ethiopian coffee. They have a full selection of beans to use for your Clover cup, and if you care at all about coffee it is worth the wait vs. getting "regular" drip. I didn't try any of their espresso drinks, but the barista was pouring a couple of cappuccinos while I waited to order and the texture of the milk looked good, proper microfoam. He achieved a nice pour and good latte art. He was also friendly and seemed fairly knowledgeable about coffee and willing to discuss it with a geek like me. Only off-putting part is the ambience. A friend with me suggested it felt kind of "institutional", and reading others' reviews about this place formerly being a drivers-ed, it makes sense. They do have a few couches and comfy chairs, but seriously need to redecorate. The bookshelf of books and a game or two is a nice plus, though.

  • David P.

The staff are knowledgeable about all of the products and give excellent factual recommendations if you invite them to. The obvious focus here is preparing a delicious cup of coffee highlighting the beans and beauty of our favorite berry, not just pouring in syrups and covering over roasting. A wide selection of roasts from all of the best coffee regions are available to have brewed up by the cup! My favorite place to get a cup of coffee in Vancouver OR Portland. Top it off with a decent amount of space and free wifi to call it a day.

  • Kelly K.

I love the coffee here and they almost always have something wheat free: flour-less chocolate cookie or some kind of oat bar. They have soy only for milk alternatives which is where I ding them. Almond and Hemp are far superior matches for coffee without overpowering the flavor. If you ever have the chance to try the Clover coffee, it is more expensive but if you prefer the taste of French press to drip, it's worth it. The service is usually good and friendly. The location is the only real downside. They are down Divine from Mill Plain and if you don't know where they are already or see the clapboard sign directing you S from Mill Plain, you wouldn't know it's there. It's in the same parking lot as Duck's restaurant which is also good and easier to see from the road.

Stumptown, in Vancouver? I didn't even think that was possible. Oh but it is possible thanks to this little shop. Thank you River Maiden for giving me a tasty latte fix at a good price and friendly service in the suburbs. No more do I need to drive across the river to get away from the crappy coffee that is Starbucks. I came here on a Sunday with a Vancouver yelper [beware of the awkward parking lot] where we were sadly told they were going to be closing soon because of shorter hours on a Sunday. Makes sense though, at least they are open seven days a week. We were served our lattes in awesome stamped paper cups and found a small table in the first room. Surprisingly it was busy in the other room where you can find a few couches and some other tables. We finished our cups before they closed but others who hadn't were able to sit outside at the couple of tables on the sidewalk. At least it was a nice enough day and the staff let them still use the tables and wi-fi. In other news, apparently you can run into people that you went to high school with. Go figure considering not too many people in Washougal ever leave Washougal or really know what good coffee is. I was proud of her but still amazed that I leave a small town for a small coffee shop only to run into someone I haven't seen since she graduated. Yay mini-high school reunion?

Best sit-down coffee in The Couve. Stumptown is good stuff, but a bit on the bitter side; not nearly as bad as Starbucks, but Dutch Bros' is actually better in my not-so-humble opinion. Agree that the ambience is slightly off, like they haven't fully settled in to being a weird and quirky counterculture joint that their name is just screaming for them to become. But it's a good place to plot presentation projects with a friend and relax for a while talking over random subjects; a shining star in that regard when it comes to Vancouver. Staff is EXTREMELY friendly and helpful; talkative, and an instant rapport is gained, which is a major plus. I'd be tempted to rate them five stars if they tossed a couple of old couches with blankets over them into the place and kept their hours open much later, esp. on the weekends.

Having just moved to the 'Couv and not yet having internet access, this place was recommended to me from a used bookstore seller. Now, after being filled full of pumpkin spice chai and my fill of internet, I can tell I will be back here many more times in the future! Here's some great points about this place: Great service with a smile Free internet access Good coffee Relaxing atmosphere FRESH VOODOO DONUTS! Yah, baby!!! Bad points: Could think of only one. They close a bit early for me at 7pm. Oh well. Certainly won't stop me from coming back over and over again when I can!

Lattes and Clover coffees are perfectly done with ultra friendly baristas who know their stuff. A must whenever you are in Vancouver!

Having grown up in Vancouver and then moved away years ago, I'm always astonished when a place like River Maiden opens up, especially right opposite my old junior high school. Not only is it a great place to hang out, with great staff, but they have a Clover machine! There aren't even that many Clover machines in LA! Really, the only complaint I have is that sometimes their coffees are served a bit on the warm side, but maybe that's a problem with the Vancouver/Portland area? Went to Stumptown and my cocoa was warm too. Strangely, I like my hot drinks to be hot.

Almond croissant is to die for. And the coffee isn't bad either!! I love finding local businesses to support!

Great baristas who know their stuff and delicious coffee. Could you really go wrong? There's free internet access, and a comfy couch to sit on. The pastries are really great as well. Try the monkey bread - it looks strange, but tastes amazing! They do close a little early, but I guess so does everything else in The Couve.

MOST amazing baristas in the county. They know what they are doing with those delicious Stumptown beans. The maiden has it right! Couches to chill, games and books to occupy.

Not only do they serve awesome Stumptown coffee, but the staff also knows what they're talking about when it comes to the science behind barista-ing. I went there with a friend, the biggest coffee snob I know, with the express purpose of testing them, and they passed our silly ruse with flying colors. I can safely say they know what they're doing, and most importantly lack that air of self importance that so many coffee shop workers have. Extra crispy black iced coffee is great there, and the couches and t-shirts cement my adoration.

We stopped into this fine spot for a cup of Vantucky Strikes Back and some pastries before a hike. The folks behind the counter were friendly, the coffee was great, and the pastries were tasty. There seemed to be a back room with couches, but i didn't get a good look. A nice place for an early morning cup.

River Maiden is like Cheers without the beer! And the coffee is excellent. I still haven't gotten over their move to the Heights from the indoor Farmer's Market and the sister location, Dripster is great but not the same and isn't open late enough for me, hence the four instead of five stars.

I had looked up The River Maiden on Yelp but had not made it. As I was out running errands today I saw their sign on the corner of Mill Plain and thought today would be a good day. I went in with visions of Starbucks in my head (I am NOT a fan of Starbucks). The young lady who waited on me was very pleasant and friendly. I asked a few questions and decided to try my standby - Hazelnut Mocha (with whip cream). I am so used to getting that slimy chocolate that no one ever stirs up from the bottom so I was prepared...FORTUNATELY there was no slimy chocolate! It was great. I have not had such a good cup of coffee in a long time. I also ordered a flourless chocolate cookie that was like a brownie texture. It was extremely good. I will be back to the River Maiden again to try different coffees and different goodies. The prices were good and the staff great.

This coffee house is amazing! They serve Stumptown coffee, which is a coffee I will drive out of my way for! They have donuts from VooDoo Donuts in Portland :) The barista's are always friendly and highly knowledgeable , the owner Melissa is just awesome. Remember that this is an artisan coffee shop; it will take a bit longer to make because each drink is made to order. It's more than worth a try, I bet you will keep going back!

Awesome! Vancouver + good coffee = a rare and special find. Grab one of their vantucky t-shirts. I wish they were open late!

The vibe and location of the shop is a little awkward, because it's located in a small commercial type of building. You just don't get that "coffee shop" feel when you walk in. But, the Stumptown coffee and friendly people make this a place for a good cup of coffee.

I was so happy to find this when in town on business a couple of years ago. Now, when I find myself in Vancouver, I am here at least twice a day. It rivals any top espresso place in Portland or Seattle. (To know my frame of reference, in Seattle I patronize Victrola Coffee, Stumptown, Caffe Vita, and Vivace.) The pastries from Nuvrei are also fabulous. We tried the Breton Sable (simple, buttery, good), the berry brioche (divine -- is that pastry cream on top?), and chocolate almond croissant (very good). The employees are consistently friendly. Hey, Vancouverites: please keep this place going for out-of-towners!

Very comfortable space, some couches. Very clean and well-lit. Clover Machine makes some good coffee, and the barista was friendly. Free wi-fi, decent amount of parking.

Coffee was good, limited goodies but what we had was good. BUT after they wanted to charge us $1 for a 1/2 cup coffee refill (after we already spent $15 for our group of 3) we will not be going back. Otherwise, would have given them a much higher score. Do not like nickel & diming.

This place has got me hooked. Their Clover coffee produces a better cup than french press, and uses quality Stumptown coffee as well. The staff is always outstanding and the ambience is nice and comfy, with wi-fi and pretty good music playing. This is a Vancouver necessity.

Good place to go for coffee and closest place to get stumptown to where I live (Camas). Free WiFi and Voodoo Donuts to boot. I like this place a lot but the location and atmosphere was a little off.

coffee was okay, you can't really go wrong with stumptown- but other then that it didn't really have anything special. Unremarkable pastry, nothing really fresh or made in house to set them apart from the other places that import voodo doughnuts as it seems to be a trend. The inside remindes me of the basement i used to go to youth group in when I was in Jr. High. It's not warm, or friendly feeling. The last thing I really want when I'm catching up with friends over a cup of coffee is to feel like I'm in a church basement. Also I think there was a fee for using a debit card unless you buy enough.

([Cafe + Stumptown + Vancouver] - The fact that its location was once my drivers ed office) x an incredibly awesome staff / 7 days a week operation = The best coffee shop this side of the Columbia

I was unsure how to grade this place because the coffee and pastry was excellent but the young lady behind the counter never stopped talking and I was in the next room and still had trouble concentrating. Then there was a woman set up in the corner like it was her office making phone calls to clients...again constant chattering, several people would flash irritated looks her way but she was busy doing weight loss counseling sessions on the phone.
