After reading all the reviews on this place, I almost stayed away. I was particularly concerned about the price. However, we have now dined her two times in the last 10 days or so, and have been very pleased. On our first visit we were actually headed to Sweet Tomatoes next door. While in the Sweet Tomatoes parking lot, we decided we wanted fish instead and decided to at least go in and look the menu. I am glad we did! On the first visit, we ordered two appetizers (the calamari and stuffed mushrooms). Both were very good. For entrees we had the Jambalaya pasta (my partner really enjoyed it), the scallops carbonara with penne pasta (I loved it! the bacon didn't overpower the dish, and the scallops were sweet and cooked perfectly). Our friend had the seafood combination, which he said was good. My partner and his friend had the clam chowder (my partner said it was the best he had ever had) and I had the seafood stew, which was super tasty, but could have used less tomatoes and more fish. We also had two desserts: the bread pudding, which I thought was good, but not great, and the Marionberry Cobbler, which is worth raving about. Two appetizers, 3 bowls of soup, 3 entrees, two desserts and 3 sodas = less than $75. Maybe its because I am new to the Pacific Northwest, but after living in both San Francisco and the Washington DC area, $75 is cheap!! How to describe the service?? Well... They were very busy. We waited for a table for about 20 minutes. Once we made it to the table, we waited a bit for our order to be taken, but not too long. The food did take a while. I wasn't timing it, but maybe 20 minutes,. Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable. However, she epitomized the dizty blonde. She got our orders mixed up, forgot requested items like glasses of water and hot sauce, etc. She also dropped a partially filled dish while clearing the table. Normally I would ding a place for this type of thing, but she was so sweet and so friendly, and really was trying very hard. I just couldn't be upset. And the food was really was very good. Our second visit went very well. Service was fast and efficient and the food was marvelous. I have a feeling this will become a regular haunt.

Drove by this restaurant after playing golf and thought it looked like a good place to eat.... and the adventure begins... The food part... Great tasting food. Really nice flavor, cooked perfectly, but... and there has to be a but when you give them 3-stars... It was just above warm. Which brings us to the service part... The service part... Once I was finally seated, 20 minute wait, which wasn't bad, there were tables all around that were open. I have to assume they were catching up, because with all those tables open and I was waiting, what else could it be... ;) Anyway I digress, the service part... The service was terrible. I ordered my meal between 7:15 and 7:30 and didn't get my food until around 8:20PM or so. Every time I asked the waitress for something she must have got lost... The waitress smiled, was pleasant, but the service part was terrible. I assume my meal was sitting for a while because it was lukewarm. I would have said something but I didn't want to wait another hour for my meal. There was a table of three that was seated after I ordered and their meal came out before mine. As the waitress walked by with their meal she said my meal was right behind her... It wasn't. It was another 5 minutes before I saw it. Now that you know the service was terrible, I will tell you this. I will probably go back because it tasted so good, which was because I was so hungry from waiting... Perhaps that was their plan to get me to like it... hmmmmmmm. I will go back to see if it was just a one time thing or how the restaurant operates. 3-stars is probably pushing it, but everyone deserves a second chance...

I was in town visiting some friends who lived in Vancouver, and as we drove by McGrath's we decided to stop by for dinner on my last night in Washington. We arrived Friday evening around 4:30pm and the place wasn't too packed even though it was happy hour. Upon being seated in the restaurant section, our hostess overheard me debating my options for what alcoholic beverage would be the first victim, and mentioned if i went to the bar i could get drinks at the happy hour special. While i wandered off to grab my strawberry margarita, my friends had their drinks served and we dug into our dinner options on the menu. When our friendly server came back, she dropped off some appetizers my friends ordered and took our dinner order. I ordered the prawns (coconut, kabobs, fried, grilled, and one other). Upon taking the first bite, i about melted in my seat. Those were the most flavorful, and PERFECTLY cooked prawns ever. My other 2 friends were just as impressed with their food. I cannot wait to find another McGrath's, absolutely blew my mind with the service, drinks, and food. I've been to Bubba Gumps, Red Lobster, and various other seafood restaurants and nothing compares to the quality of food i received at McGrath's. Thank you for the wonderful service and food McGrath's, I'm a fan for life!

Terrible is all I can say about my experience today. My boyfriend and I have been here many times before, especially because we really enjoy their happy hour so we decided to do lunch today. We were greeted and seated promptly by a nice hostess. A minute later, our server appeared and took our drink and appetizer order while we decided on entrees. We waited about 10 minutes for her to return with our 2 sodas, which was when we placed our entree orders. After that brief encounter we didn't see her approach our table again. At all. We saw her cash out two other tables while we waited. We also saw at least 2 other servers plus the bartender doing a lot of work and running a lot of food to other tables. The only times I saw our server was when she was taking care of the other tables and she would glance over at us. After a total of 35 minutes waiting, my boyfriend and I decided to leave. This is not like us, as I have worked in the restaurant industry and he has been working in the industry for almost 10 years, and we understand that things happen, but this was truly unacceptable. To top it off, while we were trying to find somewhere else to eat (on a time crunch now), my boyfriend called the restaurant to speak with who we were told was a manager. After explaining what happened and telling the man that we simply wanted to bring the situation to his attention, all he could say was, "Um...well, I'll look into it." Needless to say, we were disappointed. Not sure if we'll ever return for anything but happy hour, if that. :(

Kind our go to seafood place in Vancouver. Prices are ok for seafood. Like the other reviews we have had good service and bad service. The food is usually good with one exception. Whatever they give you for a vegetable side is always cold to warm, overcooked, and watery. They taste like they came off of a steamer tray where they have been for a very long time. I rate it 3 stars only because I have yet to find a better seafood place in Vancouver. This is at least on par with all the rest. Still looking for a better place, though.

We had a fair/good meal last night. The waitress was friendly & attentive. Our food was brought out quickly. The crab stuffed Halibut was OK but not "the best I've ever had", which was in Alaska. The crab was mashed up really small, almost like a pate. It was mushy. I prefer the crab to be left in chunks. The halibut was thin & a bit dry & overcooked on the edges. Parts of the Halibut were great and the seasoning was nice. It was not a bad meal, it just wasn't great & I'm not sure the halibut was worth $19.

Don't bother. They won't. The host ignored me for seating and continued a casual conversation instead. The young man didn't acknowledge my existence in the slightest. I had to seat myself and no menu. The waitress bussed all the tables around me. After ten minutes of sitting at a dirty table without anyone speaking to me, I couldn't see it getting much better. So I left. Worst restaurant experience in my life. It was a little after 8 p.m., not busy, and a Tuesday night. There was plenty of staff who apparently aren't observant or concerned about their customers. This is my first and last visit to this "restaurant." Close it down. Update: I was contacted by McGrath's as a result of this review, provided with a gift card, and went again with a girlfriend. I was promptly greeted, seated, and our order taken. The artichoke and crab appetizer was really good. My shrimp entree told me that the cook new a little something special about seafood breading. It was impressive and not overdone. The fries and cole slaw, not so much, but the shrimp were really good. And I didn't have to ask for tartar sauce. It was provided. My drink was refilled before I could ask for another. The waitress didn't need to ask what I was drinking either. So with a guarded second attempt, I can say that my experience this time was significantly improved and ended much happier. Thank you for caring.

This McGrath's was nicely decorated and easy to get to. Service was a little slow getting seated (the place was not packed, either). Once we got seated, our server came and left menues and left (what??). He came back much later and asked if we would like anything to drink. I placed and order for two items and got one. I got the other much later when I was able to get his attention. Hey, this guy seemed nice and maybe he was off that evening. The food was well prepared (had the Seafood Astoria), and was tasty, with no complaints from the party of five. Place was clean and, hey, I would go back.

As a non fish eater, I had the Chicken Dijonnaise. It was exceptional!! It reminded me of Chicken Marsala except it had a creamy Dijon sauce. I loved the restaurant environment and the service was great. Can't wait until the next time I am in town again. I will definitely being having dinner at McGraths.

Disappointed, never been here, was hoping for a great experience. I can't say I got unfriendly service, but it was forgettable and not personal. The service was a little slow, but I'm not too uptight about this, what I do mind is cold food. My fried squid was cold and presentation was less than stellar. My wedge salad was good ,but my buddies crab sandwich was just warm. It was put under a cheese melter. McGraths needs to step up their game if they want to compete with today's standards.

Generally a good, fair-value restaurant, but not tonight! Of the four of us, two dinners went back. Food had sat under heat lamp for way too long - steak was marginally warm and fellow diner meal of vegie stir fry had turned to mush. Didn't even look appetizing. Rather than remaking my steak, they put it in the hi-temp brolier and reserved it. Yuk, but at least warmer. Staff was friendly but followed a formula. Even tried to bill the other couple for the mush stir fry which was sent back un-eaten. No manager was ever seen. Will try it again, however there are way too many better places in same price range to explore first/again. Sent a private email to McGrath's mgmt, so will see if they care or not.

McGrath's specials at this time is their line-up of halibut dishes and seeing as the wife LOVES halibut we decided to give it another try. Previous experiences were so-so at best, with both service and food not all that good. We arrived at the dinner hour on a hot summer Friday night, you know, the one's where eveerybody is dining out so as not to heat up the house cooking. Fortunately we were told it was only a 15-20 minute wait, an estimate that was right on. We were seated and asked about drinks in an appropriate amount of time and then served in timely fasion as well. We ordered a calamari appetizer, that was seasoned well and served with a lemon aoli. Unfortunately, once you've had properly cooked calamari, tender and juicy, anything not cooked properly is apparent. And this was a bit overcooked and rubbery. Not terrible, but definitely not great. Three stars because of the seasoning and aoli. Next were the main courses, My reportedly "fresh" razor clams and the wife's macadamia nut crusted halibut. Both entrees were served with a side of green beans and a baked potato. Starting with the wife's halibut, she said it was dry (probably overcooked). She poured the lemon butter atop it in an effort to make it more palatable and ended up using my tartar sauce on it, alas, to no avail. The potato was great but the beans were "woody". One Star. As to my razor clams, I'll start by saying I grew up in a family that dug our own razors on Washington's beaches from the time I was 4 or 5 years old and if there is one thing I dearly love to eat, it's fresh, panfired razor clams. That being said, I know a good clam from a bad clam and how to cook a great clam. Problem is McGraths evidently doesn't. I can truthfully say, without exageration, that these were the WORST razor clams I've ever been served, the cause of which is twofold. #1. They were WAY OVER BREADED. The ration of breading to clam was about four to one. Way too much panko leaving very little clam flavor and lots of butter flavor #2. They were WAY OVERCOOKED and tough as shoe leather. I needed that knife to cut them. Are you seeing a trend of overcooking here? Again, One Star. As an added insult the price was $16.99 and for that I got two medium sized clams, not that it mattered much seeing as they were not very good. One Star. My potato was the highlight of my meal and my beans were tough and woody too. All in all I'll stick with Red Lobster. It maybe a little higher priced but the food is cooked properly and on a much more consistent basis. The only reason for Two Stars was the service which was very good.

Good value, average service (I was solo and at a booth in the bar)....for the price the food is excellent, highly recomend the New Orleans Catfish. Wine prices are good as well. Will return.

I have to disagree with the negative & "mediocre" reviews of McGrath's. I was there with a party of 7 last month. We were seated in less than 15 minutes on a fairly busy evening. Our waitress was at the table in less than 5 minutes & provided excellent service throughout the meal. The food was very good & not overpriced. My son had the Halibut Davinci - flaky but firm halibut with an excellent sauce. (Only $13.) I had the Wood-Fired Salmon - $15. It was probably the best salmon I've had in the Vancouver area - if a restaurant has grilled salmon on the menu, it is usually my 1st choice. I've paid much more for dry, overcooked, over-seasoned salmon in the area. We ordered 3 appetizers, 7 entrees, and 3 desserts and all of us were very happy with our experience at McGrath's.

Very pleased about my meal here! I had the wood grilled salmon with a buttery spread and it was SO GOOD! Seriously, the flavors of the crispy salmon and butter mixture just went so well together. I wasn't as impressed with my side salad or potatoes/veggies that came with the meal, but they did do the job and fill me up. Just go for the salmon. So scrumptious!

I didn't think this place tried too hard. *shrug* I had the hazelnut marlin which was a touch on the greasy side but still really tasty. I was charged a dollar more than the menu said so they need to keep track of things like that... The portions were just about right, the piece of fish was actually probably a serving and a half, but uhhh it's fish so it's ok or so I told myself ;) I actually didn't quite finish my potato that it came with. I left pleasantly full. I admit that for the same price I'm used to being stuffed to the point of needing an airlift to leave, but I was very satisfied. My guy's seafood pasta was pretty tasty. Seriously rich, but tasty. I usually don't like scallops but for some reason I liked those. Maybe I need to eat them more. I don't know. They're really good for you though. The key lime pie was nice and tangy with a throw pillow sized topping of whipped cream. And it was only $3.99 which is really cheap as far as restaurant desserts go. Overall if you want to have a seafood dinner at a restaurant it won't be your cheapest option no matter where you go. This place is reasonable compared to many other places. Oh and the sesame chicken strips are sinful and delicious.

Went here on a recommendation from my dad with my husband, sister, and her boyfriend. There was a 20 minute wait on Sat. around 7P, but we found a booth in the bar right away. The service was good. And there was a good selection on the menu. My mojito was very good and everyone else liked their drinks, too. :) With the dinners you get a basket of sourdough bread. It's so yummy! I ordered the Pineapple Coconut Ahi. It was good, but the portion of ahi was smaller than expected (I also got a salad, roasted vegetables, and cottage cheese with my dinner). My husband got Stuffed Prawns w/salad, roasted vegetables, and french fries. He said it was good, but he expected bigger prawns. My sister and her boyfriend both enjoyed their meals, too. Salmon and Catfish. Though, I think we were all surprised at the small portion of catfish he received. Overall: good food, small-ish portions for some things, good drinks, good service, slightly higher prices than expected.

I'm divided between giving them two or three stars. I eat there every couple of months but I'm never sure what kind of quality of dinning I'm in for. I've eaten there when the food is very good and a bargain for the price. Service was good and fish and shrimps tasted fresh. There are an increasing amount of visits where the food was bad to UN-eatable. I eat quite a bit of fried food and the problem seems that they just can't maintain the high temperature to fry things right. The temperature should be high enough to crisp the batter quickly enough so that one actually steam cooks the seafood sealed in it's crisp battero. But too often I get a saturated, texture-less glob of grease where there is no taste. I've ordered shrimp and logestinos. the shrimp was of the 30-60 size and the logestino the size of bay shrimp. with seafood that small, it can't be battered and fried and expect anything but tiny grease balls. I've also had dinner with guests and was embarrassed with the service and the food so bad we returned it to the kitchen. The manager came out an apologized and substituted some of our food but then the service was horrible. We waited for close to 45 min. for any food to arrive while other tables that came later were promptly attended to before us. So I've been staying away from the fried food and trying baked alternatives. Their clam appetizer with the wine and garlic sauce was quite good, the onion rings were again greasy and UN -eatable. The seafood bisque is ok but challenges the price. I find their clam chowder is bland and doesn't even hint of clams. Too bad, There is a need for a moderately priced seafood house in Vancouver. Newports are gone. Halibut's on Alberta in Portland is wonderful but very pricey for food that comes in a plastic basket.

I can honestly say that the only thing that we liked about our visit was the decor of the restaurant. The food was mediocre bordering on bad and I can not see our visiting this restaurant again. Also, I keep asking this as it seems to be happening more often in restaurants, please order WRAPPED straws instead of bringing me a straw in your bare hands.

  • Jason T.

Not bad for lunch, a little on the pricey side. But if you are looking for a treat, this is it. I only gave this 3 stars since it's not exactly an "ah-ha" moment restaurant and sometimes the food can be greasy. But the fish is fresh and when they are on their game, they are awesome.

  • Randy A.

ABSOLUTELY STUNNING IN ITS' MEDIOCRITY!!! Seriously. This place was WAY too overpriced for the food we received. The food wasn't terrible, but it was pretty bland, and seemed like they were making up for the blandness by putting too much salt in it. My wife's dish was lukewarm, and mine (the fish n' chips with a cute little UK flag stuck in the top) was much too small for how much it cost. This place seemed like it was aiming toward old people, white tourists from the Midwest, and old white tourists from the Midwest. Will not be back.

I'm so confused as to how the previous reviews rated McGrath's as "overpriced". Seriously? How? Where else can you get a decent large portion of Cajun or Wood Fired Halibut with freshly roasted vegetables, one side dish, a salad, and yummy Sourdough Bread, for $18.99 each? Sure, this place isn't phenomenal, but coming from Boston where Legal Seafoods, Oceanaire, and independent seafood restaurants exist, this is a good value. The service basically sucked, however, We had to wait 20 minutes to find ourselves in a silent, half empty restaurant. Apparently there wasn't enough staff to work all the tables. However, once we sat down an ordered, things were pretty good. The bread was great- Sourdough, chewy, warm, and fresh out of the oven. My only pet peeve is that the whipped butter had just been taken out of the refrigerator, so it was rock hard. Salad was pretty good. Mixture of lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots, onions, and really good Cajun croutons. Yay for having a huge selection of salad dressings, although it was slightly overwhelming. As mentioned previously, I got the Cajun Halibut with a baked potato and roasted vegetables. The Halibut was great- perfectly cooked and and spiced. The lemon-type sauce it was served over was actually lemon tarter sauce. Had I known that, I would have asked for it on the side. I removed most of it, even though it was quite tasty. Grandma got the Coconut Shrimp and Grandpa got the Wood-Fired Halibut. Both enjoyed their meals. All in all, it wasn't spectacular, but it earns four stars because it's a good value. I've had much better seafood, but it's been much more expensive. But come on, how much can you expect from a mid-range chain seafood place? It's better than Red Lobster or Long John Silver! I personally wouldn't choose to go back, but it's one of my grandparents favorite places and I'm not about to protest!

Nice atmosphere, okay service, not too pricey but them again the food is JUST okay. The calamari tasted really good WITH the sauce, but just okay on its own. My friend had the shrimp alfredo and that was delicious, not too heavy. I, unfortunately, ordered the shrimp and penne caprese and it was the most bland pasta I've ever had. I got most of my flavor from the tomatoes and cheese and that was it. I know it's just olive oil in it but there literally was no flavor at all. It tasted a LITTLE better when I added table salt but it still wasn't that good.

My husband and I gave McGraths another try after previous bad experience (I had to send back my stuffed shrimp as they were obviously spoiled). We spent $62.00 yesterday for lunch. The calamari appetizer was a little greasy, the captains platter I ordered was VERY oily and the shrimp was undercooked. The meal tasted like the battered seafood was thrown into a vat of oil that was not at proper cooking temperature so it soaked up the oil. THe service was nothing special and it took an unreasonably long time for out order to come out, despite the fact there were only 3 tables. We won't be returning to this place again.

We were pleeeeased with our meal after finding this resturant through the GPS system on our rental car! LOL Never heard of this place before (maybe they don't exist in CA). My mom had the wood grilled halibut and LOVED it and I had the prawn platter and thoroughly enjoyed it! We also ordered the crab and artichoke dip as an appetizer and that was to die for! I would definitely eat here again if there was one close to my home in Cali. The service was great and the food was tasty...we all left here completely satisfied!

  • Jessica H.

Ok! To start the service was great. The staff was friendly, and seemed relaxed and not super cheesy cookie cutter fake happy. The food was good, I had the holiday pasta, the clam chowder, and the crab stuffed mushrooms. My only complaint was with the mushrooms, as the crabmeat was a bit dry and not very flavorful, and I half expected them to taste similar to the ones at red lobster. But other than that everything was great. Being from the east coast I'm picky about my seafood, but the flavors here were great and a relief from the usual pacnw boiled crap. So... I'll be going back. :)

This is the end of an era for us. For the last 10 years we have always enjoyed stopping by McGraths Fish House on Mill Plain for a happy hour drink and bite usually on a Friday or Monday. I think this visit was the last for us. During the last couple of visits we've noticed things seemed to have changed. On our previous visit we ordered calamari and it was served to us mushy and tasteless. Immediately on our departure we stopped at a Vietnamese Pho place down the street and ordered the same appetizer, it turned out to be far superior to McGraths, super crispy, hot and well seasoned. On this visit to McGraths we ordered seared Ahi tuna and salmon sliders. When the appetizer arrived the tuna had a strange appearance. We are used to Ahi tuna that is red or pink but not dark purple or black. It looked positively scary. The salmon in the sliders was tasteless and mushy. Our disappointment with the food caused us to take a closer look at the restaurant itself. The work surfaces behind the bar were very dirty with many empty wine battles cluttering the back bar. Looking up to the ceiling the open rafters and cross braces were unbelievably filthy to the point of appearing furry with dirt and cob webs. The nice looking belt driven ceiling fans haven't worked in years. It makes us very sad that management has allowed this once great eating establishment to degrade to this point. So as it stands now there are no good seafood restaurants in East Vancouver. If you know of a restaurant with consistently good seafood, let us know. Please.

We have been going to McGraths for over 12 years. We have enjoyed the service, atmosphere and quality of food. However, over the past year we have experience a gradual decline in both customer service and quality of food. Last night was by far the worst experience we have ever had at McGraths or any restaurant for that matter. The food was not cooked and prepared to what we ordered. After being sent back to correct the mistakes (15 additional minutes of waiting), the food was under cooked and watery which made it bland. The medium well steak was Raw. The chowder recipe has changed and is mediocre flavoring at best. Then to top it off, our waitress was sssssllllllooooowwww! Took forever to be greeted and once our orders were placed we saw her all but 3 times (delivery of food and attend to our bill). The best part of the entire evening was the hot sour dough bread and atmosphere. Other then that, it was a disappointment and waste of time and money. Something has changed at McGraths. I don't know if it's new management, new cooks or just a bunch of people who have lost their desire to provide quality service and great food. Whatever it is, I wish they would go back to the quality they once offered their patrons! Until then, we are done wasteing time and money at McGraths on Mill Plain! We have so many other great restaurants in the Fisherslanding & Cascade Park area to choose from. Huge disappointment!!!

"This last visit was the worst experience I have ever had in this establishment! The food was the worst it has ever been. Starting with the salad, it was slimy, watered down and had chunks that looked like mucus in it. We barely had 2 bites and brought it to the attention of the server for which we then listened to excuses like they maybe had just spun the salad but when I showed her the mucus looking thing she said it was probably at the bottom of their container and would we like something else. I said no thanks but my husband asked for a cup of fisherman's stew. When she returned with clam chowder instead we didn't bother to say anything because it had taken long enough for her to return with that!!! Then our meal came, my husband ordered MED RARE steak and it was completely black on the bottom side, I mean CHARCOAL! I had the salmon that was so saturated in oil or butter that it coated your mouth... and when you pushed on the fish oil oozed out. The baby reds were incredibly mushy which we both had. I asked the server if there was a new cook back there because this was awful! She said no and that she is sorry we were not pleased but did nothing for it!!! Our bill was not adjusted in the slightest!! We left very disappointed and HUNGRY! I was sitting there eating the package of oyster crackers when she came to pick up our plates."

I have eaten here a few times over the years. Recently I just moved here permanently and decided to drop in for lunch. It was not very crowded for the noon time hour which is fine. We had a trainee waitress that seems to do OK for her second day. I guess ranch and blue cheese tend to look the same so it can be confusing but hey, salad is salad. I usually get a few oysters on the half shell when ever I eat there and they are usually really good however this time around I don't know if it was because we went during lunch time but all of the oysters I got had chips of shell in them. Usually you find one or so with a few bits in it, "they do use a metal stabby thing to open them up" but this time they all had crunchy bits in them which was sort of annoying. All three of us liked what we ordered and it was all cooked properly accept for the crunchy oysters. I have never had any problems with their food and the bar tender can even make a decent dirty martini. I guess if I had to list a bad thing it would have to be the noise lever when they are full but that could be said about 90% of all restaurants. As far as price, the lunch menu is pretty reasonable and the dinner menu is comparable to any other fish house I have eaten at. Yeah you may be able to find cheaper sea food some place else but in my experience finding cheap sea food is more like drawing straws over who gets raging food poisoning that night.

I wanted to like this local chain restaurant. After all they serve west coast sea food rather than trucking frozen Atlantic fish across the country. We were not off to a good start when I noted the table was sticky with remnants from previous diners meals. Service was friendly and attentive. Drinks were served promptly with a smile. My hazelnut crusted halibut was dry tasteless and over cooked. Served with bland rice pilaf and a tasty fresh house salad that included sweet peas. My mother's Ciopinno had large quantities of crab legs with shells that were soft and could not be cracked? I tried to help her and resorted to peeling the rubbery soft shell rather than the normal cracking with the supplied tools and found the meat flavorless as in previously frozen for God only knows how long. I am giving three stars rather than two because the atmosphere and service were deserving though, they did not deliver what I know McGrath's can source, fresh product locally. 2.5 stars is a more accurate assessment. What they served us today was not up to par. Is it poor management or suppliers? Both maybe. Hopefully they will learn how to sell quality again because it wasn't present today. This establishment could learn a lot from Ivars in the Seattle area as that chain delivers well prepared seafood every time.

Went there for dinner with a couple of friends on Saturday night. It looked pretty crowded but my party was seated pretty quickly which was nice. The restaurant is spacious and had the sort of "the locals dine here" kind of a vibe. Service: The waitress was less than attentive. In fact, the manager, David, was the one to clear our salad plates and bring us water (Thanks David). Food: I had the crab & artichoke dip and it was okay. Full disclosure, my normal stomping grounds are in Maryland so I may be biased. My friends both had the Woodfire grilled salmon with a side of vegetables and a baked potato. The meager vegetables were cold and the cheese on the baked potato was not melted. We asked the waitress about this and her response? Baked potatoes normally don't come with melted cheese! Err...Really? Perhaps in the Pacific Northwest. Anyway, we asked that it be warned. Perhaps the restaurant fairy sensed our disappointment because David checked in on our table. We were polite and non-committal. He asked again and we said the vegetables were cold. He brought us a nice bowl of fresh steamed vegetables. Not the pathetic offering we got earlier. The response from the waitress? "Oh wow! Fresh steamed vegetables. Huh." In sum, David made up for lackluster service and food was slightly less than average. Doubt I'll make a return visit.

Took the family here the other evening for dinner. This place had grown to be a "go to" spot for us over the years. It a Saturday night so they were pretty busy. Several groups who came in after us were seated before us before we reminded them. The food quality has really gone down. The portions are smaller as well. In a matter of a couple of years this place has gone from "hard to find a better place at this price" to "we can find better". The most disappointing thing though is the service. The wait for food, refill on drinks, just to get seated were horrible. They were busy, but not that busy. We won't be regulars here anymore.

I can't believe this place scored so low!! Everything was amazing. We ordered the fish house sampler, clam chowder which came with sour dough bread, and crab stuffed salmon. How exquisite everything was! Cheers to the chefs! The service was slow as they were obviously busy, and there was one time we wondered why the busser couldn't help with water refills, but our server took no shortcuts on us when she did attend to us! Perfect date night McGraths, thank you!

I saw the jerk who slammed Mcgraths and could hardly belive we went to the same place! Maybe he was having a bad day??? My wife and I have been to this location three times now and each and every time all has been very good!!! Waitress was a little off once but no big deal. Food was excelent, and like the slammer I have had fish accross the good ol USA also. Best salmon in the world is from Bristal bay, spring run to be very specific!!!! So yes I know good fish!! I honestly can find nothing but good things to say about Mcgraths, they take reservations and large parties, no outdoor seating. Also I like the feel of the place, huge wooden beams and very northwestern feel. Food is a bit pricey but that's kinda expected in better eating establishments. Very good food will be back for sure!!!

Went here after an 8 year hiatus. Wish I had read the recent reviews so we could have gone somewhere edible. Wife's halibut was rubbery and bland, my seafood linguini was tasteless and the noddles were mush. Service........there was none. Took order.........dropped off drinks (ice tea was pathetic.....watered down like another reviewer said), ignored us.....dropped off food..........ignored my waving for drink refills......managed to get us the bill so we could end this farce of a dining experience. I would liken this to a fish house version of IHOP, but they are not as good as IHOP.......just same AARP clientele. So...to sum up.... Inedible Incompetent Living on past reputation

First time here. Had the calamari for starters. Was cold when we got it. They bright out a new batch that was hot so that was nice. Also had the shrimp sandwich. It was the worst shrimp sandwich I've ever had. There was hardly any shrimp and was also cold. Probably not coming back.

GARBAGE FOOD, LONG JOHN SILVERS IS BETTER. This crap-fest freak show blue hair dive is reminiscent of a retirement home cafeteria. The food is littler more than frozen fish sticks, canned veggies, and stale bread. The place was filthy when we arrived, the floor was covered with refuse and smashed food. Looked like a food fight erupted between a bunch of juvenile delinquents. This place is a pathetic insult to Pacific NW cooking. Its like McDonalds for people with no taste buds. I've eaten 10 year old fish sticks from my freezer that tasted better than this crap. The canned veggies must have been purloined from a WWII bunker. I'm not even sure there were human beings in the kitchen. Maybe robots and microwaves. The service reminded me of Taco Bell. Run for the border. The beers are watered down, the desserts are like pig droppings, and the atmosphere is worse than a funeral parlor. STAY AWAY!

Thought I'd give Mcgrath's another chance after they contacted me after my last review and asked for us to give them another chance. I called last night and specifically asked about hours on the 4th of July. I was told "we'll be open til 10pm". That being said coordinated my son's baseball team and families to head over for dinner after a 6:00 game. We show up about 30-35 people. Sign on the door says we closed at 8. So once again ,and for the last time, Mcagrath's was a giant let down.

I have lived in Vancouver since 2002 and I pass this place a lot, it's across from our favorite family restaurant so it's hard to get here. This time though I was armed with some gift cards given to me last Christmas and a childless night with The Wife (who had been here once). It was time break the seal on this place for me. I liked the decor when I walked in, tall ceilings and wood beams and a nice smell in the air. I checked in with the Hostess who said it would be 25 minutes so we headed for the bar and placed our drink orders. The bartender then asked if we would like menus, she must have seen the puzzled look on our faces and clarified that if we wanted we could take a little booth and eat in the bar. I went back and canceled our name on the list and took a seat with my lovely bride. I had planned to try the fried fish combo but as I opened the menu a small laminated card fell out advertising $15.99 all you can eat shrimp, you get teriyaki, beer battered, herb crusted and coconut shrimp, and after that you can order as much as you want of any of the four choices. Heaven! The Wife ordered a skewered shrimp dinner and we waited a short time for our salads and fresh sourdough bread to arrive. Food followed soon after our salad plates were cleared away and we were elbow deep in crustacean goodness! I was impressed with the menu, it was hard to choose just one thing from a varied menu of fried, baked and wood plank grilled fish and steak dishes. I give the service a big old thumbs up and the food was very good. Restroom was immaculate and the prices were more than fair. I will be back.

We went in on a weeknight for dinner with the in laws from out of town on a weeknight. Besides our table, there were 2 other tables in the restaurant. Atmopshere: Ok. It's a franchise so I'm not expecting gourmet dining experience. The table tent menu was sticky and covered with bits of food. Service: slow. I understand we were not regulars but it's wrong when a table that clearly was seated after us get all their food before us because they were regulars. We waited a good 25 minutes before the food came. Food: lukewarm. Oversalted. Overcooked. Will not come back here again. Maybe will give another location another chance.

A very disappointing visit to my go to seafood house in Vancouver. I always order clam chowder, the fresh wild salmon, double veggies no starch, and iced tea. The chowder was runny, I did have one 1/2 inch cube of potato and two bits of clam so it wasn't completely cream in a cup. My salmon was over cooked and dry. It could have passed for chicken if it wasn't pink. The double veggies were hardly double and they we're luke warm at best. Finally the iced tea was watered down. Almost Brown water. I gave up bread months ago but splurged tonight and had a,couple bites. Good thing I did that was the best part of my meal. Very disappointing visit tonight and I was really looking forward to it. It will be a while before I visit again. I hate paying these prices for such an unsatisfying meal.

Just leaving here after lunch with my family. The two stars I'm willing to give are for the bartender and waitress Leslie. That's it. Filthy plates, sticky nasty table, dried vomit in the carpet near our table, creepy male employee that wouldn't stop staring, our assigned waitress disappeared until after Leslie delivered our food...drinks...etc, then felt compelled to check in. Undercooked fish, overpriced slop. Done. Never again. Hope Leslie finds herself in a better restaurant someday. She's great.

Wish I'd paid better attention to the reviews. We had grilled salmon and snapper, and my daughter had the popcorn shrimp. Shrimp came out quickly, the bread was decent and hot, and the soups came out quickly too. But the fishermen's soup was heavy on the tomato and had some unrecognizable chunks of overdone seafood. Our daughter was nearly finished with her shrimp (that's saying a lot for a 3-year-old) when our food came after a substantial wait, and in spite of that wait, our fish was merely warm, overdone, and presented poorly. The "crown" of butter on both dishes was just bland, not what I was expecting from something called ginger-lime butter. To top it off, I'm feeling the after-effects of something I ate that evidently wasn't fresh. Lackluster experience overall, especially at $50-something for the three of us, and definitely less than I expected from a small-ish regional chain.

This place was recommended by the hotel staff but it was not worth the drive. The waitress did take my original side (which I did not care for) coleslaw and replace it with a salad. The salad was iceberg lettuce, it was wet so the dressing became watery but the croutons were tasty. the main meal, copper salmon, was over dry/overcooked. I did not care for and would not recommend this place.

The service is great. Unfortunately the food isn't quite so... I had the wood fired trout from Idaho. I chose the coleslaw, it was edible... Very little flavor. It had a very watered down sauce with no flavor what so ever. I also chose the fries, they were cooked at too low of a temperature, they were soggy. This brings us to the trout it was dry from being over cooked. If you expect a meal better than Denny's forget it.

We ate here on our vacation to the NW. The food and service were great. The waiter was very accommodating to our requests for lettuce cups that were currently off the menu. Also the crabs we had you could tell were very fresh. Our waiter even brought out our son's meal early since ours took longer to cook. I wish I could remember our waiter's name because he was great. We didn't finish our meal until about 30 minutes after closing but never once did we feel rushed. Very good service and food!

We thought it would be nice to go here for Mother's Day. Wrong! Customer service sucked. After being seated and the waitress brought us all water and then she left . We didn't see our waitress again for almost 30mins and we was ready to order a long time ago. Also we was seated on the patio and it was a little chilly out. Every other waitress that walked by we asked them did they know who our waitress was and nobody knew. The table next to us came way after we was seated and they already had their food. Finally they found us another waitress and we ordered our food. Once they brought my wife's food out it was not what she ordered so they had to take it back. The food was not that great either, it tasted like it was store bought. The only good thing that came out of it was that they gave us free dessert for the screw up.

This is an old stand by. We've come here for years. Haven't been disappointed in a long time - except when we last ate in the bar. The food was good but I expected better service since there were so few of us. The server was too busy flirting and socializing to pay attention to us. We would have been able to leave sooner if the service was better. She never brought us some items and we had to remind her several times. Usually, we have great service and good food.

I was really impressed with McGraths's. I haven't been here in years but recently ventured in on a date with my husband. I feel like we received a really good value -- The free appetizer of sourdough bread was so warm and tasted like it came straight from the oven The salad included such items fresh grated carrots and real green lettuce (not the usual bagged iceberg you get elsewhere) Halibut, cod, and chips was wonderful Rustica pasta with artichokes, sundried tomatoes, penne and shrimp was also wonderful Coffee was fresh brewed The only real disappointment for me was that the shrimp in my pasta was tiny. When I go out for seafood I would like seafood - it seemed like a small sprinkling of salad shrimps :(

The clam chowder and fisherman stew was good and the shrimp taco was huge. The problem with the food was with the calamari it was very over cooked and couldn't eat it. Probably the best 2 items we had was the dirty rice and coleslaw.

Always fast, friendly, and great food. If you don't feel like fish they have fantastic burgers (I like the John Q) and chicken. The happy hour is very good and not costly! Some of the reviews talk about wait to be seated - in this world we live in if the restaurant is top notch and a very well liked then you have to wait to be seated. They will reserve a table for you in advance if you do not want to wait when they are busy. I enjoy the large (gusto) beers they serve, and sitting outside during the summer is very nice. You'll find me in the bar!

  • Jamie M.

Not impressed with the food at all. My fries tasted like fish and my club sandwich was just a turkey sandwich. My husband got the fish and chips. The fish is tiny with lots of breading. There were also weird fried up bits of things on his plate because they don't clean out their friers enough. There were dead flies on the window sill and the table as well as the menus were sticky. The waitress was really nice but the food was lacking.

Once again I'm sent packing as I look for a decent seafood restaurant in the "Couve". Ate here a couple of times in the past and went again last night, had the Ling Cod and wondered if the chefs actually taste some of the entrees for flavor, texture, and freshness. The Chowder is absolutely tasteless as chowders go, I've had better from a can. The fish was not bad but it had a kind of a slimy sauce over it that spoiled the overall dish. Good service, and friendly servers but the main event in a restaurant is still the food, isn't it? I'd think that this place could do better but the crowds there make me wonder if most people haven't lost all connection to expectation of a dining experience. I won't be back here for that reason, why support a business that really isn't trying too hard to woo customers, this is the day and age of competition, at least this is what business tells it's employees, so, what's good for the Goose is good for the Gander........

We had a party of 12. Put our name in at 7:00 on a Friday night. Hostess told us 45 mins. 1 hour later still not seated. Talked to the manager he finally seated us. Sat there at our table for 10 mins still no service. We got up and left. Headed to Applebee's. Terrible service. Will not go back!

  • Joshua S.

All in all, this is a pretty solid place. The food is reasonably priced and well prepared. I recommend the Halibut Fish & Chips, which I've had many times and with mostly wonderful results. The service is sometimes a bit spotty, perhaps they are a bit understaffed, perhaps I'm unlucky, not sure. I understand when restaurants get busy that service can suffer, but it seems like at peak times it's always touch and go here. Lots of hostess types though and they are cordial, but not terribly effective at dining room management. Definitely a place that my family keeps in regular rotation due to the quality and price of the food, but this is by no means an establishment that would be #1 on our special occasion dining list.

Just bad! Food and service. We called to make a reservation and was told they didn't take any but would put our name on the list. When we got there, that was false. we were seated after everyone else. When we did get seated 45 minutes later. I ordered a drink. I finally got the drink with dinner that I had to remind the server I ordered. I should have cancelled it because it was over sweet. We got our appetizer during dinner that I had to remind her about. The dinner was the most greasy seafood I have ever had. Gross!

Tonight was disappointing I am not sure what happened to the excellent service we are used to. Did not think it was a problem to request a seafood platter on the rocks but apparently I was wrong. Not only did the "waitress" decide she didn't want to attend to us anymore I'm pretty sure she took the tip she did not earn. The manager tonight and that waitress need to be fired I have never seen such behavior truly unprofessional won't be going back ever.

I visited the restaurant with my wife and mother-in-law earlier today. Sometime after we were seated, someone who seemed to be a floor manager had to go and fetch our waitress. While waiting for our food I unfolded my napkin and discovered that my cutlery had pieces of food stuck to them. My wife ordered the Prawn and Shrimp Cocktail for $5.99 and all three of us ordered the Steak and Lobster for $21.99. From a distance the Prawn and Shrimp Cocktail looked impressive, but up close it was anything but impressive. The cocktail was about 70% celery, 3 medium sized prawns, and a handful of baby shrimp. It came with only 2 tablespoons of cocktail sauce. The Steak and Lobster included a salad and a side dish of our choosing. My wife and I were able to switch out the side for an extra serving of vegetables. When the plates arrived there were only a couple of florets of broccoli and half a carrot. Even though we forwent the side dish for extra vegetables, we barely got one serving. The food looked bad and tasted even worse. The shrimp were watery and mushy, completely without flavor, and definitely overpriced. I've bought tiger prawns from the grocery store that tasted better than the restaurant prawns/shrimp. The vegetables were undercooked and were lacking in flavor. The frozen bags of vegetables from the grocery store have more flavor. The lobster, while not noteworthy, was of an acceptable quality. The steaks on the other hand were quite lacking. Mine and my mother-in-law's steaks were at least half gristle, sinew, and fat. They did at least serve my steak the way I wanted it, rare. My wife's steak was 2/3 of the size of mine and was like shoe leather, even though she ordered it medium rare. I have never eaten a steak of such a low quality. The steak was hard to cut, harder to chew, and almost impossible to swallow. To top it all off, all the food that was supposed to be served hot was at room temperature when they arrived at the table. I've dined in countless restaurants ranging from local to chain restaurants, from dives to top quality restaurants in roughly a dozen countries in the US, Europe, and Asia. I can without a doubt claim that McGrath's Fish House is the worst restaurant I've ever visited. If you're hungry and need a bite to eat, pick a fast food joint. At least you know what you'll get.

We went at 7pm on a Wednesday evening. We were seated right away, which was great, but possibly a bad sign. The calamari appetizer was okay, just a bit salty. The dipping sauce was really good. For dinner we ordered the salmon and the clam strips with chips. I had to clarify that chips meant fries. I thought anyone serving fried fish would know this? The clam strips felt like they were full of sand. I tried a different strip to see if it was a fluke. No such luck. The salmon was overly smoked and also not worth eating. We left hungry. Next visit to WA will not include a stop here.

Went here for my b-day and the waitress was tentative and nice but I ordered the captains plate and the fish was oily and tasted like rubber very disappointed. The bathrooms where out of soap and the floor was in need of a professional cleaning, also my mom ordered the berry pie and it was under cooked. Sad how such a beautiful restaurant has gone down hill. I won't be eating here again.

This dining was a pleasant experience. I was a bit nervous about the mixed reviews on yelp but after 5 long days of driving (my friends moved from Texas to Vancouver) we were craving some seafood. So we headed to McGrath's. A small wait as they seemed pretty busy but after we were seated our waitress was very friendly, patient, and well informed. There are a bunch of dishes to choose from and the prices range so there is something here for everyone. I split a dish with grilled salmon, crab cakes and "prawns" or what we Texans call shrimp with some pasta and their wedge salad. The salad was delicious as was the salmon and crab cakes (2nd best I've ever had), they were super moist! The shrimp was small but okay and I know that's not a specialty in the northwest. Super nice selection of wine, beer and spirits. Clam chowder got thumbs up from my dining mates!

The service was horrible. It took about 10 minutes to even have a waitress come and take our drink order. She was not friendly and didn't ever come around to check on us or refill our drinks. The food was just as bad. It was over cooked and lacked flavor. We will not go back.

Came in last week an hr before they closed. He ordered steak and crab dinner & I had steak and lobster tail. We weren't expecting ultra high end but the meat, I mean steak was just awful and the lobster was a lump of rubber. Salad was ok. We were both getting sick with in hours. I would never eat there again. Should have reviewed sooner but forgot to finish this and post. Was reminded when my uncle said he got sick when he ate at McGrath's too! Yuck.

My girlfriend was just there for happy hour and was sitting outside with friends. They ordered a total of 4 appetizers and after 3 hours, asked for containers to take the rest of the food home. Apparently, McGrath's policy is you cannot take happy hour leftovers home even though you have paid for it. We called, and first the manager said you can't order happy hour food to go and then got back on the phone and said you can't take leftovers home at all if ordered from the happy hour menu. It's too bad because their food is good.

Went for dinner Sunday night, very quiet night in the bar. Ordered the Steak and Crab legs, steak arrived rare, I ordered medium rare and when the bartender finally came over to check on us I asked for the steak to be cooked a little more. I think she forgot about it after because she was so busy chatting with the servers about her personal life. When she finally brought it back the steak it had so much gristle in it I could not eat it. When I pointed this out to the bartender she seemed really put out that I had not liked the meal. She pulled the plate away angrily and stormed off, what seemed like an eternity later she returned to say that she took $10.00 off my bill, REALLY!! I did not like the meal and as someone in the business I would never have allowed my staff to treat a guest that way and for a manager to be sitting 2 tables away eating his dinner and not having a clue what is going on in his restaurant is unbelievable and unacceptable. I don't think you should charge a guest for not eating the meal. Bartender was rude, loud and spent more time talking to her co-workers than she did taking care of her guests and really was angry I did not leave a tip. Here is a tip... take care of your guests and they will not only actually come back but take good care of you too. Many other choices so no need to ever visit this establishment again.

4 stars because I love seafood and each time I've been there, it has been what I expected. One time the service was very slow but we find if we go to the bar, we get served a lot quicker. Tim loves the chowda! He'd eat my bowl if he could. I have to keep an eye on that guy. The soup/salad combo is a great deal at lunch. I love the oysters and the raw ones are always fresh. For the price, McGrath's is a pretty decent place to go.

Went last night and was treated to one of the worst service experiences I've had in a restaurant. We arrived around 7ish to perhaps a 1/2 full restaurant. After a 5 minute wait, Sergio rolls buy with a huge tray in his hand and blurts over his shoulder "I've got to get that table's order (gasp) but I get can a drink started". Never actually faced us, never put the tray down, terrible. This was just the beginning. 5 minutes later, the "over-the-shoulder-with-a-tray" move once again. We ordered the sampler platter. 10 minutes after that ... a appetizer platter was dropped off "on-the-fly" too. Then, something magical happened. Sergio actually stopped, no tray in his hand, no one else's order to take, and took our order. Actual service! Whoa. Then, we waited and waited and waited. 50 minutes to be exact. For a cheeseburger (cooked to a hockey puck) and a bay shrimp sandwich. 50 minutes. We did get a few "over-the-shoulder-tray-in-hand" look ins for drink refills. 1/3 of this nightmare is Sergio, 2/3 for front-of-house management having no clue as to the state of the dining room and no training and discipline for Sergio.

Fried oysters, oily with soggy bread crumbs, (this was the best part of our meal). Salad, SOAKED in dressing, bad dressing. I felt like I needed a lifeguard to save me from drowning in 'Kraft'. Shrimp not fully deviened, salmon blah, over cooked. Cajun Pasta Mess my husband ordered, OMG... A soupy fatty mess with no identifiable spice. Ordered a beet and sweet onion salad, no visible onions at all. Waitress says oh what, what onions? I'm like, the onions that are supposed to be in the BEET & SWEET ONION Salad. Waitress responded, "Oh they're in there, you just can't see them". The crab cake was a hard disc of breading with flecks of pink that may or may not have been crab. Best part, manager that seats us talks about his marriage with strangers in detail, super awkward. The table next to us was so uncomfortable they just kept saying," sorry to hear that". What a ship wreck! If you want to watch a tragic comedy and pay for horrible food, go to McGrath's.

Love it!!! I love seafood and the prices were reasonable! My man got a steak and snow crab (I ate the crab of course) and both were prepared well. We also shared 1 pound of snow crab appetizer that was 10.99 and it was worth it!!! Meals come with salad and sour dough bread in the middle to share. I was stuffed by the end of it all. The waitress was super friendly and great. It was a nice experience (and I love seafood)

I had one of their special Steak and Seafood "Harvest Dinner platters" for $11.99 and I think their food portions and quality was pretty good for the price. The steak was very tasty and flavorful, the seafood tasted really fresh! It came with a salad, some bread and your choice of a side too! I was pretty happy with the meal and the service was really friendly and nice! The only downside...which it's not even really a downside...is that the menu is WAY TOO BIG! I had the hardest time deciding what to order because I wanted SO MANY THINGS!! :)

I have eaten here several times with excellent food. Tonight we ordered Fresh Wild Caught Chinook salmon. I am a salmon lover and was hugely disappointed. The salmon tasted old and fishy. Fresh Chinook should have no fishy taste or odor and should just melt in your melt. My husband said the same thing. Not sure we will go back.

I ate at this McGrath's on 212/2014, at lunch time. I ordered the Prawn Platter and my companion ordered the Halibut Parmesan. She said her meal was excellent. I thought the "prawns" were rather tasteless - did not have that shrimpy flavor I was expecting. They were prepared 4 different ways. Two of these were quite tiny - can these legitimately be called prawns? I'm wondering if farmed shrimp is used at McGrath's. I didn't think to ask. Anyway, the service was good, the choices were wide and the side dishes very good. The prices are probably right in line with other seafood restaurants in the region, or maybe even less.

This restaurant has been hit or miss. One evening we went and the clams we ordered were old and inedible, another evening every portion of the meal was outstanding, but the reason for this review is to reflect the service or lack there of I received upon my last, and I mean last, visit to McGrath's. I called ahead 4 hours to ask if a reservation would be necessary for this evening and was told yes it would be. I secured one for 8 pm and arrived at 8 pm where I was told it would be a 15 minute wait and handed a pager like I had walked into a TGIF. To my under standing, a reservation is so that I do not have to do this. So my wife and I went elsewhere for the evening. Later on I called and spoke with a manager that told me they do not do reservations and that all they do is call ahead seating. I was obvious to me that at no point did he care to retain my patronage and basically behaved as if he couldn't care less. Needless to say, I was very disappointed with the experience and can only say DO NOT GO! Save your time and money for one of the smaller family run restaurants in the area such as the Jerusalem Cafe, that is what we did and the service was great and the food even better.

Sigh...Why did I even think things would change? It was my father in laws birthday, this is the restaurant he picked. I tried to talk him out of it, but he had a coupon... We were seated promptly in a mostly empty restaurant on a Monday night. As soon as I sat down I knew this was going to be bad. My hands stuck to the table top. So I head to the bathroom to wash up and noticed the lack of even basic cleaning going on in there. I got over it though, my mother in law had scrubbed the sticky off of the table and I adjusted my attitude with a good martini. It took almost 20 minutes for our server to return to our table after we got our drinks. She took our food order then promptly left without offering refills. Our salads came out in an acceptable time frame. Still no offers of refills, she did refill the water glasses after I asked. Our food came out about 15 minutes after our salads, but for some reason the server did not take our empty plates or offer refills. Again The food was fine, I just ordered shooters, not sure how you can screw up a oyster shooter. I managed to flag down our server for water refills and I asked for another martini. She refilled our water glasses, never brought me another martini, nor did she ever take away empty plates or glasses. At the end of the evening, she brought out a complimentary dessert for my father in law as it was his birthday. Never offered the rest of us a dessert menu and STILL NEVER TOOK THE FREAKING PLATES AND GLASSES AWAY!!! Please, just stay away

Oh my where do I start. 1st time to dinner here. Everything about it doesn't not make me want to go back. 15-20 minute wait. Tables open all over the place. Really? that is ridiculous. The wait to place a drink order.... ridiculous Took forever to get salads. Mime has so much dressing on it it was hard to see that the lettuce was green. Second one came and not tomatoes or croutons. DO I dare ask for some would probably only take 15 minutes to get them. Fish and Chips. Fish OK. Fries barly warm. I dont dare ask for hot fries. Wait I cant I haven't seen my waitress. Dinner was over. We wait. Still waiting..did the waitress go home? Finally shows up grabs my credit card off the table and poof she is gone again. I am not even sure how much the bill is. That part didn't take her long. She was a very nice young lady but she was not a good waitress. If the food was better the value would have been pretty good. Maybe I am spoiled from Red Lobster.

Whoever came up with the 2 lobster dinner idea needs a medal and a big hat or at least an oversized belt buckle. The crab stuffed mushrooms would make a food cart operating out of the back of a taxi successful. The prices are great for a place where you actually get to set down to eat.

Decent seafood restaurant at a modest price point; it's not over-priced Keep it real; to get it cheaper, it would have to be frozen, breaded and fried. There are better restaurants, but they are super-expensive. There are cheaper but pass the Pepto. We've had oysters, clams, shrimp, calamari, ribs, pasta and salads. All were competent and fairly priced. Every time I've had fish, it's been properly cooked (which seems to be a difficult feat for some places) and every once in awhile, they come up with a really professional twist in flavors... This most recent trip featured a marlin with hazelnut and blackberry. On the downside, the salads were at least few hours old when served which is shocking. One occasion served up reheated veggies from the previous service mixed in with a freshly made... as though we wouldn't notice. In summary, reasonably priced, most of the items are decent, but can be spotty at times.

A hall of fame tribute to being absolutely average. The only thing that isn't average is the service, and it's terrible. I came in while visiting family in the area and wish we would have gone for pizza. I'll be the 1st to admit that living in Seattle has spoiled me rotten on fresh seafood so I have really high standard in that regard. Everything here tasted frozen. Staff claimed it was fresh, but it sure didn't taste that way. The only positive was the drink I had. Strong and well made, I give props to the bartender whoever he/she was. I wont be coming back under any circumstances.

My husband ordered Seafood Combination (Fried Alaskan Cod, Prawns, Scallops and Clam Strips.) And said they were just "ok, nothing special, nothing awful." Our server was nice, but I thnk she could see my disappointment and figured she wouldn't be getting a good tip so she didn't put forth much effort after the food was served. Omfg! Terrible service! Went on a Tuesday night and it was not busy at all. They were still making everyone wait at least 15 minutes before getting seated and there were so many open tables! Our waitress was so so so slow. Every single persons order was brought out wrong, and this was after we waited over an hour! We were at the restaurant for 2 hours. When we were finally given our check we were one of the only tables left in the whole place. It was so bad it almost seemed like a cruel joke, and it was my dad's birthday dinner! I have had decent experiences at other locations but after this I won't be giving any McGrath's my business. Ever!

This place serves typical chain store seafood. Nothing special or extraordinary. If you like Red Lobster then you will love this place, except they don't have those cheddar bay biscuits. My wife's steak tasted like it was marinated in lighter fluid. I have eaten at McGrath's here several times and also in Mesa, AZ. The food is consistently "Meh" but the service has always been stellar. The wait staff here is really outstanding I just wish the food was too.

Not bad for lunch, a little on the pricey side. But if you are looking for a treat, this is it. I only gave this 3 stars since it's not exactly an "ah-ha" moment restaurant and sometimes the food can be greasy. But the fish is fresh and when they are on their game, they are awesome.

When for a late lunch. Was pleasantly surprised quick & friendly service. Bonus they ask if you dining with them for the first time and will go over menu in depth. Meal was excellent. Plan to return again

The clam chowder and fisherman stew was good and the shrimp taco was huge. The problem with the food was with the calamari it was very over cooked and couldn't eat it. Probably the best 2 items we had was the dirty rice and coleslaw.

  • Kalie L.

Yuck.
