Wow. Huge portions. Some say over priced. Maybe agree, but they give you so much. Any breakfast item you order can be shared by 2 people no problem. So it kinda of balances out. Went with my girl and 2 other friends. Everyone liked what they got. Denver omelet, CC hash, Club sandwich and a bacon and ham omelet.

The food is hot, tasty, and the helpings are gigantic. Enough breakfast leftovers for two more days! Dont let the lines fool you, because the wait isnt too bad. Servers are friendly and their version of a Denny's Superbird is the best Ive ever had! This place is not Gourmet, but is exactly what it says it is, a Cafe.

The best - food and service ! I loved it and will be back! I had the breakfast sandwich with thinly sliced ham and a fried egg with cheese. The croissant was awesome I skip the hash browns to keep it a little bit on the light side. overall this is the kind of place I was looking for this morning and if I was here in the area I'd eat here every morning. Coffee was hot service is fast and the place isn't too fancy which I like! this is the kind of old style American cafe that we need more of. Big $ D

Big doesn't make tasty. This place is your typical dirty spoon (oh, I meant greasy- same thing here) with nothing special on the menu. As a baker, I was excited to try the huge cinnamon rolls. Omg. Dry, dry, dry. Disappointing to say the least. Has to be drenched in butter or icing to fix it (NOT a sign of a good cinnamon roll). So disappointed in this place. I mean, even as a scary looking establishment, I still expected more because it's so busy! I've been about three times (It's just around the corner from my house) and I am not going to return- Not unless I am starving. Then at least I will have A LOT of food to eat. But it's not even good food! Sheesh. Why do I want to waste my hard earned calories on that? I get the allure to people who don't cook and just want to eat, but I will never go back by choice. Come to my house and in 30 minutes I can have a cooked to order breakfast made for you (all fresh, from scratch) that tastes better and a CLEAN home with nice atmosphere to eat in in. And then we can go to the gym.

This place is a greasy spoon if ever there was one. It has THE BEST Corned Beef Hash I've ever had. Make sure to ask for the homemade kind, not the canned kind. It's a little more $ but, you get A LOT and it is delicious. A serving is 2 servings for my husband & I. Of course we each get our own so we can have it the next day too! Service is friendly & quick. We always go on the later side, after 12:30 or so and rarely have to wait very long. I hear there are long lines earlier in the day.

My family eats here probably once a month, it is our favorite breakfast place. It's a hometown diner experience and we love it. The waitresses remember us and are always friendly. The portions are gigantic and the bacon is thick and delicious!

Ia the best breakfast in Vancouver...period. The corned beef hash is the best I've had anywhere. The biscuits and gravy is delicious and huge but they offer a half order. Carol's omelet offerings are very popular, each being made with 6 eggs. Again there is a half order available with 3 eggs. Pancakes are good too and like everything else, huge! Carol's Corner Cafe is a worthwhile stop and has become a weekly habit for this Yelper.

Love the food here giant portions, they make me so happy the cinnamon rolls are as giant as my head!!

Oh my goodness, this place is a cardiac arrest just waiting to happen. But what a way to die. Their food is so good. Portion sizes are ginormous. Some of the best hash with "the Works" I have had in a long time. Even with half an order I still have leftovers for a couple of meals. Go early cause a line starts to develop around 9:30am. But even then it's totally worth the wait.

If you are going to eat here, don't eat for at least two days or bring a few friends to help out. The food here is huge. I can compare this place to Guasti's in Chino California. The homemade corn beef hash was awesome!! It was like a religious experience!

The service at Carol's Corner Cafe was good, very attentive. The food was diner-style fine. I had two eggs over hard (the yolks were totally broken and very done, but that was okay), a pancake, and hash browns. The hash browns were very under-done, though not inedible. The pancake was good. We had coffee, which was fine. My sweetie had the open-faced turkey sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy. The turkey was freshly roasted, and the portion, as others have said, was huge! Gravy was excellent! It was $12.50, however, which was a bit much for the place. My main complaints are twofold: 1. The place was dirty. The ceiling fans/vents were filthy. There was a hair -- it looked like a pubic hair -- on one of the menus. This was gross. I still ate there, however; I'm always up for a new experience. 2. The number of rules posted outside the restaurant and on the menu was shocking: The menu says that there is a 2-hour limit per table; no checks accepted; $1.00 charge when sharing a meal; 50 cents extra to take to go orders! I'm not from Vancouver, and don't know it well, so I don't know if this is typical, but I do know that when you lead with stinginess, you often receive customers who don't appreciate you. I found the stinginess/Scroogy-ness shocking. That said, Carol's Corner Cafe is fine. It's a diner. They say they're the best breakfast in Vancouver. Maybe they are. Tip: Private lot parking is huge, and readily available, which is very nice.

Some of biggest portions I've seen.. ever! Great prices and honeslty the diner/dive atmosphere is perfect! It's not outdated it's more of a homey feel! Also as a special treat try.. try the cinnamon roll. It's to fucking die for! (Excuse my french) Happy mothers day!

We were seated right away. Great service! Huge portion sizes, even getting a half order. Delicious food. Not bad with the prices either. Busy atmosphere. Would recommend eating here. I'll definitely return!

Breakfast is very good. Huge portions. Be prepared for the noise level though, extremely loud and tables are right on each other. Get to know your neighbors real well.

The food was excellent. Huge portions, friendly service the price was great. It was the best and biggest country fried steak I've ever had. Now back on the road!

Went in on a Saturday afternoon. Place was very busy. We chose to sit a the counter instead of wait for a booth or sit at a table. The staff was very friendly and the food came out fast. It was $14 for a regular size deluxe bacon cheese burger, fries and a coke. The burglar was good and came with a basket of fries. All the food come out looked like huge portions. I would definitely go again.

Huge portions, very friendly staff! The only downside is how old and rundown the inside is. Other than that I would have given it 5 stars!

Carol's Corner Cafe was recommended to us over Fatty Patty's which we originally had planned on for breakfast and boy was that the right choice. When we first arrived the place looked really divey which is a great start in my book. It looked very small town but the smells that were coming out were amazing. I was getting hungry just walking to the building. Once we got in it reminded me of small hometown restaurants from my childhood in Pennsylvania. It was nice, but not as nice as the food. I decided to order the CC Hash but I wasn't sure if I should get the full or half size. I was then told that the portions are very large so I decided on the half size. This was another good choice as the half size filled up an entire plate. I think they would have had to bring out the full size in a wheelbarrow. The CC Hash was amazing and really started the day off right. I will definitely be going back someday and I hope you stop in as well and give Carol's a try. I give Carol's 5 Doubledays.

Food is way better then this place looks. Locally it has a solid rep. Great breakfast joint add it to your 'Couv' bucket list. It is a little divey.

Soooooooooooo much food! I heard about Carol's Corner Cafe from a coworker. So with extreme curiosity- my wife and I brought our daughter here today...(Saturday). Yes there's a bit of a wait, but I believe it was well worth it. The place isn't huge but will sit maybe 75 people total at a time.... The food is amazing and comes in huge portions! I'm a huge omelette eater, and I couldn't finish the C.C. Country Omelette. I highly recommend it to everyone! Great place!

Tremendous servings that are bland but they have the usual table hot sauces, seasonings and condiments. The servers are mediocre with regards to their attitude. They're attentive and quick. So far 2 pros and 2 cons. I like that there's the option of tipping your cook at the register. Also, there's a 2 hour limit. Ask for the half order if 4 pounds is too much for you. I don't think it reheats well... All in all its good and worth the cost. Bring your elastic waistbands yelpers ;)

  • Katie B.

I certainly don't get all the hype. Huge portions, yes. But who wants to eat it again later or the next day? I went once and would not return.

Add Carol's Corner Cafe to my list of places in the area that serves large breakfast portions! The overall atmosphere has more of an old-school vibe; not sure if anything has changed in the 16+ years the cafe has been around. The "CC Hash" is a blend of shredded hash browns, ham, cheese, peppers, onions, and tomatoes, smothered with either country gravy or brown gravy. If you want more salt, the brown gravy is the saltier of the two gravy options. The full order ($13.95) is about 4.5 pounds and is a damn good deal if you want leftovers. Even the half-order of the CC Hash ($10.95) came piled nicely on an 8-inch plate. I'd call it a pound and a half of food, with two pounds being generous. A bunch of carbs for fuel, a few bits of ham for protein, some gravy to fill in the crevices, and veggies to make a somewhat logical argument that you ate something healthy. Bacon would have made this dish even more epic. I probably shoulda added a bunch of superhot sauce, too. Breakfast is served all day. Their full-size omelets have six eggs and the larger pancakes are 10" in diameter. You can get smaller portions, but sharing is not uncommon (add $1 per plate if you share). Carol's now closes at 3 p.m. each day (no longer serving dinner as of October 2013). Get here early, because I've seen long lines form here!

The food portions are the thing that stand out most. The prices might be a tad high for my liking but the portions make it work. The decor is not anything exciting. There are some things broken down/ breaking down. Booth torn in spots, carpet peeling away, a stool you can't sit on etc. Not anything surprising for this type of place. Just not a place to come if you want to be impressed by the ambience and decor. The other thing I will say and it looks like it's been touched on already in other reviews and I totally agree, there are signs everywhere: 2 hr limit No checks accepted $1 per plate added when sharing To go orders 50¢ per order No outside food, coffee, energy drinks etc I understand there are rules and such. Not a fan of them being so in your face. It's in bold and in different font so you can't miss it. Also the piece of white printer paper taped to the door written in sharpie...really? Looks tacky and is honestly off putting personally. All that said I won't frequent this place, but won't stay away either if I'm in he mood for a hearty breakfast. Service was fine, came when needed and didn't hover. Coffee was always full, I'm easy. I would give 7/10 but on a scale of 5 stars I will round up to 4.

We asked for suggestions for a good breakfast place when we stopped to get gas. The owner and a customer both suggested Carol's, and we were SO glad they did. The portions are enormous, and the cinnamon roll was to die for. Love it when we have such a pleasant surprise when traveling!

  • Kristine S.

I love this place because they have good staff and food is always great! My first time going to CCC, I made a mistake ordering extra plate for my 2 year old. Serving is huge! I learned my lesson after that. We always leave happy after dining at CCC. We'll keep coming back!

  • London R.

Carol's never disappoints! The food is delicious, the plates are the size of your head, and the prices are reasonable. The staff are all lovely and make you feel at home no matter how often you visit. I love this place!!

  • Kayla S.

"Just ok" is the best way to describe this place. The portions are grotesque... Even a "3 egg" (this is the smallest option) 1/2 order omelette is the size of a child's arm. 3 egg stretched with oil and water maybe, it was very greasy. Nearly $12 for an omelette and hash browns in which a normal person could only eat 1/3 of. If you like dive-diners and 10lbs of food in only one order, this is a great place for you! Tasted like a typical diner breakfast, nothing special. Service was mediocre at best, you could tell the server was not a people person and had not so much as a friendly smile for us on our way out. Probably won't go back again, it is a good "one time" thing. For a real foodie who wants their food to have actual taste, spare yourself and make the drive across the Columbia to Tin Shed or Beesaws!

  • Duane R.

It is a bit spendy but not when you consider the portions. Try the cinnamon roll... $6.50 but bigger than your head!! Dang tasty and rich. Hasbrowns are A + and the cc hash us so good it makes my tummy happy!!!

We have come here for breakfast before and the food is slowly declining not in portion size but in quality and I came in today with my wife and daughter we waited 20 minutes for a table then when the waitress asked who was first it was us and we made that clear but the lady who just walked in said "if there isn't a table can we get a to go menu we only have 45 minutes to eat" so the waitress gave them our table and didn't even ask if it was ok then just went about doing her job avoiding eye contact I am a cook so everyone ask me where to eat but you can be sure I will never be back and I will make sure everyone I know never steps foot in this establishment.

we live close by to this place and always see lines out the door so my husband and I decided to give this place a try. we came in once and won't be coming back. this place is dirty, run down, and cramped. food comes in huge portions but doesn't taste fresh or good. I had the special which was eggs Benedict and the hollandaise sauce was a joke. tasted like something they made from a premade packet where u just add water to it. the pancakes were so dry and bland. This place reminds me of those places that Gordon Ramsey from kitchen nightmares, comes to fix up. They definitely don't deserve a Best of Clark County award.

  • Drew D.

Came in and got seated right away on a Saturday which was nice. The service was fast and decently friendly, got our food in about 10 minutes after ordering. The omelette was fire and the portion was crazy, a half order filled the whole plate. Top breakfast place in Clark County.

  • Sean S.

They don't call Vancouver "Vantucky" for nothing. This is the kind of place I'd expect to find in the South. Good old fashioned home cooking (chicken-fried steak, biscuits and gravy, corned beef hash & eggs) all smothered in country gravy. The price is right, the and the portions are huge. Tip: only get the half order. Trust me, it's enough. Minus one star for cleanliness.

Just moved here a few weeks ago and have been dying to try this place. I finally got to go this morning and I was very disappointed. 1. We weren't greeted and eventually just sat at the bar. The servers weren't too friendly either. 2. As I sat down I avoided the broken chairs and the dirty counter tops. The floors were filthy along with the ceiling which had brown stains all over. Throughout my time there I noticed a few employees drinking beverages and eating food where it is noticeable from the front... Which is not appealing from a customers view. I noticed a cook pull something from his beard then continue preparing meals. 3. However the food came out pretty fast. The portions were very large but honestly it was not appetizing. I got the CC Hash and my boyfriend got the country fried steak.. My boyfriends meal was undercooked and I had to return mine because I found very long strands of hair in it. At this point I was disgusted and left. 4. When I paid for the meals and it was $38! That much for two meals is outrageous! Do yourselves a favor and drive the extra 10 minutes and go to Breakfast at Valerie's on Mill Plain. You'll get your money's worth and delicious food!

Amazing food, huge portions, and prices are great if you take into consideration that you're going to get three meals out of it.

Giving people a large portion of food that doesn't have any flavor, or even prepared properly, does not a good restaurant make. This place is so overrated. I wish it would close and be replaced with something delicious.

  • Nicole M.

This place was pretty good. I got thier eggs Benedict and wasn't that happy with it, it kinda looked like a plate of slop with not much flavor. I had to put tons of hot sauce on it to give it some sort of flavor. On the other hand my husband loved it, he got the cc hash and i gotta admit i was a little jealous i didn't order that instead. The serving sizes are HUGE so don't go there if you have diabetes. There were also flies all over the place, and the service wasn't that great either, don't get me wrong the employees were nice, but we had to go up to the counter just to get a coffee refill. So i have two stars because their cc hash was so good and i might go back for it

    (2)
  • Sean T.

Just like everyone says, the portions are insane, even at half orders. Sadly, it all taste the same though, which is kinda good since they cram it all on one plate for ya. I'd eat there again with the guys but not with my family. At this place you are eating for effect, not really flavor. Bring hit sauce..

    (3)
  • Anne G.

The people were very nice. Service was friendly. The parking lot was helpful. A bucket list item if you live in the 'Couve. The food is too much and greasy. The hash browns were cold. The gravy was oozing over the side of the plate as it was served. The iceberg lettuce is very 70s as is the décor. Could use a pressure wash, new carpet, paint job, reupholster and window repair.

  • Stefanie G.

I had the best homemade corned beef and hash. I am also a fan of their country fried steak, yummy! They give huge portions, enough for the next day!

You've left the south east and you go to the north west... no more Waffle House... What can you ask for? Carol's Corner Cafe! It's the individual, non-chain version of good ol WaHo. That being said, what you can expect is olllllllllllllld decor, food on the ground, patrons in pajamas, but classic diner breakfast food for cheap. I was in the mood for the meal, I got my hashbrowns and two eggs over easy with rye toast, and I loved every bite of it... especially for like six bucks, how could you not! Ignore the mess, and lack-thereof-decor, and just enjoy diner food for cheap. The restaurant's style may have never evolved with changing times, but neither did their prices... and fyi, yes HUGE portions.

  • Freddie O.

Service is great, clean, I ordered a basic eggs hash browns and sausage patty. I did not like the flavor of the sausage patty and a sausage patty was a little dry. They serve you a lot of food for the price. and the coffee is great. I would come back again but I wish they use a Jimmy Dean sausage.

My fiancé and I have driven past this place and there is always a huge line most often out the door. Since we were both off and it's a Tuesday we figured it wouldn't be busy. We were right. We got right in. With the massive droves of people waiting on the weekends I expected a bit more from this place. The staff was friendly and attentive. Quick service as well, we only waited about five minutes for our food. I had a croissant with hash browns and gravy, huge portions. The gravy was not good, very flour-y and not a whole lot of flavor. The rest of my meal was okay. My fiancé had the French toast and he said it was okay. We probably won't be returning here, now that we know it's not worth the wait. I would say it probably isn't worthy of it's Best in Clark County award that they have won multiple times. There are definitely better breakfast places.

  • D B.

What a hoot this place is, especially with a 13 year old male grandchild. "Grampa, can I have hash browns?" You bet. Better order the big size. The platter those taters come on is the same size upon which your 13 pound Thanksgiving turkey is served. Massive. Crispy enough despite the volume. He can EAT spuds! But he couldn't finish these, and needed a box.

I have found this place to be so over rated year after year. I always give them another chance because of how much people love them. But as someone who his a professional breakfast cook LOL I can't have any respect for a restaurant that can't make things from scratch. i.e. their hollandaise sauce and if their country gravy is from scratch, they need a new recipe! Let me come in and teach your cooks how to make proper eggs and a few other things ;)

Another place where people are happy to stand in line to get in, even in the rain. On a winter Thursday morning. Do go. To a hungry tourist from Portland, New Years' Brunch was entertaining enough, even without snow, or the mountainous topography created by the food. It was prime-time for People Watching. The breakfast plates are charicatures of themselves. Not to mention the Diners. Looked like some just returned from a parade. Amid gruff and grizzled Veterans who seem to think it's normal to swim in the largest platters of sausage gravy possible, the Vancouver 20-something glitterati was there, making the room look little like a Christmas Tree. On no other morning have I seen such a homogenious town offer such variation in morning attire. Or such humongous portions. Glamour-make-up babes still garbed in evening costumes posed a sweetly as possible, seated pertly at large tables of partied-out friends, most of whom sporting drab hide-me hoodies. Fancy hair, high heels and and jewelry still adorned those who never made it home. Glitter gals, I hope you at least scored, for all the amused looks you receive the next morning. It's really Ok to ask friends to share their clothes the next day, if you wanna be more comfortable. The panorama of laggard, dull faces and brunch carnival costumery was forgotten when the food haulers arrived however. Monster plates demanded attention...delivered by strong farm-girl arms to jam-packed tables, taking hung-over revelers to another state of existance. Carol's Corner is reason enough to travel to the Other State for breakfast. Chefs in the 'Couv allow gobs of stuff to hang (artfully?) over the side of the plate, heaped suptiously, albeit irresponsibly, high. (Hell, why fight gravity?) But be ready, such a mountain will inevitably avalanche. It's your job to creates rivers and valleys while avoiding risk of land-slide. Have a mass management plan - and don't try to eat it all in one session. Nor leave any tidbits behind just to try to look extravagantly suave. Remember, you're in the 'Couv. The dregs of the heap promise an EASY full-size nosh the next morning, so scrape away every last bit to be hauled home. Neither waste nor waist, agreed? Life is easier, and better this way! Dieters and the health conscious miss nothing by skipping gravy, salt and low-end cheese. The Veggi Omlette is likely as big as the Denver, and one could do a stir fry later with leftover innards. We used healthy salsa with the huge mass of leftover spuds next day instead of salty, sugary ketchup. Next day, to freshen up leftovers, I added fresh herbs, Avacado and Salsa, and minced green onion for color. It was still a LOT of spuds. He got a little all-white Egg-Beaters filled with half of what was left in the Omlette, to respect cholesterol limits. That allowed me most of thelarge leftover portion of Denver Omlette, and he had guilt-free fresh eggs. He also slicked up a cheery Cantalope for morning snacking. (Orange - my favorite color. Life has it's little bonuses...and I've learned to notice and appreciate and gain encouragement from such small things) At Carols, even skilled Culinary Contractors face a daunting task, bulldozing this mound of food onto share plates and take-home containers. We got the $12 full order - to share, also sharing the wheat toast and 1 small juice, with coffees. That was a bargain compared to 2 small orders for $8-9 each. Just right. Divided realistically, ONE _full-size_ hammy, Denver Omlette with tower of spuds made FOUR large meals, for about $3 each. There was too much the next day to even want toast. Would raise to 5-Stars if: - the Coffee was more robust and flavorful, - and if homey jam was served instead of plastic packets. Jam and fruit sauces are so easy to make, and fruit incredibly abundant in the NW. With fresh lemon or lime this aspect can brighten an entire meal. The persons doing seating could benefit from Bus-person support who helps simplify her effort to keep better tabs on what tables were open, so Guests don't need to stand in the rain. On exiting I advised those waiting in the line to hang in there. No one seemed to care. To their credit, service staff are friendly, hard-working and cheerful on a VERY busy day, they keep the coffee coming and remember who has De-Caf, are happy to bring a 2nd plate for sharing, and offer take home crates even before you ask. Who can ask for more? (will return to add photos soon. Jules)

Humongous portions!!! I normally just share an omelet with a friend and it's still way too much!!! I eat the leftovers when I'm hungry and I"m still overly stuffed! haha. Their prices are reasonable. I mean a full order 6 egg omelet is around $13 give or take a few and if you share you have to add a $1 per plate. So I share and it's worth it. They do have half orders made with 3 eggs for a little less. Pretty much whatever you get is worth the price and you will get stuffed. I've only had their breakfast/brunch so don't quote me on that for the dinner menu. Service is decent. They didn't go over the top, but it sure wasn't bad. I just felt a little uncomfortable with the menu saying a 2 hr dining limit. I understand the concept because it is a small diner and they can't afford to not turn the tables quicker, but still I hate limitations! The probability of us dining longer than 2hrs is slim and we were most likely not going to do that anyway even if the rule wasn't enforced, but I just don't like the fact that it had to be there. If anyone does over extend their stay they can politely ask them to leave instead of making us normal people feel rushed. Even though 2 hrs is plenty time I still feel rushed as if we are timed to eat the ginormous portions! As far as the ambiance goes, it's okay. It's a place where you go to get stuffed, not sit around (since you really can't haha) to admire the wallpaper. I honestly don't even know what their walls look like, the food is what everyone goes for and remembers.

I had not been to Carols Corner for years.. was seated at a table that still had a big drop of gravy on it. Not greeted by the server, just asked What do you want? The place was busy. Had Chicken Fried Steak it was less than half of the steak I had there a few years ago. Came with salad and mashed potatoes and gravy. I chose country and asked for it on the side. When I was done, I asked for a box. It was tossed to over the back of the booth. Paid 20.00 for this, acup of tea and the tip.

This place has turned to crap... for $9.50 you get a McDonald's sized sausage patty that tastes like cardboard.. Wow use do lo en this place. Now I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Breakfast at Valeries is hands down better than this...

Huge portions of traditional breakfast favorites. Omelettes are excellent. The only bad thing I've had here was Chicken Fried Steak which frankly was an abomination.

I have had a few meals of 'man food' in my day, but Carol's makes man food that actually tastes homemade and not covered in grease. Pancakes do not taste like chemicals. Real butter, real potatoes, real eggs, big portions that hurt. I read a review that the decor was less than what the person thought appropriate. It is always clean with a side of they don't give a chit what it looks. They decorate for the holidays in cheesy paper cut outs, the servers have been there forever and talk to you like a regular. If you don't like that style of atmosphere with your delicious omelet or burger, then do not go.

We have made the long trek out here for family breakfast about three times now. The food in a word is pretty dang good (ok more than a word). The servings as others have noted are HUGE, a half order is enough to split and be plenty full. They have a Mexican Omelet which is freaking fantastic and I get it every time. Their pancakes are also very good. The location is on the corner in a semi-rough looking neighborhood and the inside has seen better days. The building itself is long overdue for a remodel which I bet will never happen, it is also pretty tight in there when it gets busy. If you look up the words "greasy spoon" in the dictionary there will be a photo of this place. I enjoyed it immensely and as a matter of fact next time it is my turn to pick family breakfast I am dragging my fam damily back out here!

If you are looking for a great breakfast joint Carol's has it all. The full parking lot says it all. I had the corn beef hash and chicken fried steak which knocked my socks off. They have plenty of seating and if there is a line it moves quick. Don't think about it just go and let me know how it was.

This place is awesome if you are white trash, don't have much money, and want to feed your entire family with one order. The food is a step up from what I would imagine they would serve at a homeless shelter. The place is pretty dirty and the wait staff although are friendly are down rite scary. It's because of places like this that our country has so many people that are over weight. It has many very loyal customers that I hope would never move into my neighborhood.

This is a great place to get breakfast. Just be aware that one breakfast is enough for two grown men to eat. Piles of home fries, swimming in gravy, plus all the eggs and toast. It is a lot of food. It does not qualify as cheap though, but fair. A buddy and I go there and we leave about 20 bucks behind after sharing a plate, a couple coffees, and juice. The taste of all the food is good, honest non institutional. I don't eat here all the time, that would not be healthy, but a good heavy breakfast out once in a while can be a fine part of a healthy life.

The name of this place would lead you to believe it is a cozy little cottage with a picket fence around it.........NOT! The cafe occupies a rather grubby corner surrounded by an asphalt parking lot and busy streets, and the building has seen better days. The inside consists of booths and counter seating, friendly staff, and avid diners. Not much ambiance here, folks, but the fascination comes when your order arrives and pins down your end of the table. Other Yelpers have described the enormous servings, but NOTHING prepared me for what arrived on....a PLATTER! Needless to say, I finished it for dinner 10 hours later! It was quite good, but next time I'll order something smaller--if such a thing exists at Carol's.

Loves every minute of it. First thing to mention is the portions. The food is so big that I ate it for 2 meals that day. They brought the food to me with a take out box right from the start because they knew I only weighed a little bit more than the plate. Seriously huge eats. I purchased the hashbrowns, from what I tasted the food is greasy-sloppy goodness. Which will probably kill you someday soon but tastes unbelievable now. That's pretty much it for the whole restaurant. I can understand some of the negative comments. The place is very much like a local diner with a matching attitude. The waitresses act like themselves and don't have a fake overly happy demeanor. I prefer honesty with my breakfast anyway. Also I wouldn't say that the place is decorated, it may look 'trashy' to some, but that's what makes this place a true hidden gem of Vancouver. Just tell yourself that they spent ALL the decoration money on making the food that much more awesome.

I dine out for breakfast 3-4 times a week. I generally like the local choices such as Biscuits Cafe, Lisa's Country Kitchen, Valerie's, etc. - good food, friendly staff, cleanliness, etc. However, I don't go to Carol's Corner Cafe anymore. Yes the food is generally good and the portions are quite sufficient. But the sanitary conditoins are just too significant to ignore any longer. Two things in particular: 1. The floors are filthy. You will see a lot of food on the floor and, especially, under the tables. If they scooped it up and put it on a platter, it would rival their largest breakfast dishes. I have NEVER seen them sweep up. Of course, when the customer area is so contaminated, one wonders what the kitchen conditions are. 2. The way servers handle the glasses I drink from (water, juice, etc.). The servers invariably handle the glasses by their lips, a practice I find disgusting. The servers' hands are in regular contact with soiled plates, dishes, wipe cloths, used napkins, food preparation/work surfaces and the like. I trust that their personal hygiene is adequate (I hope, anyway); however, the routine contact between their hands and unsanitary items that are a natural part of their work environment should mandate that they reduce to the greatest extent possible contact between their hands and surfaces that will come into contacts with customers' mouths. The lips of glasses should never be touched. Glasses should be handled by their bases only. Being handed a glass of water by the lip of the glass is the same as being handed a spoon handle first. Yuk! Servers in good restaurants know this, and Carol's servers should, too. I'll stop by again, perhaps, but will monitor the situation to see if it improves. If not, I have more appetizing alternatives.

Talk about a place where you can strap on the old feed bag. Portions here are ridiculous. It amazes me that they make any money. Place feels like a converted double-wide. Great breakfast here, people come in droves to eat the monstro breakfast. Gravy is good, omelets are good as well. Overall quality is not what one would call gourmet, but it doesn't really to try claim that it is. I'd probably go 3.5 stars if I could but I just can't justify 4.

I am totally down with a divey breakfast place, but this one didn't even meet those expectations. The place wasn't particularly clean, kept up, or inviting, but by no means was it enough to have me doubling back. The server who took care of us was okay. Not friendly, but certainly not rude, just down to business and that is fine as we had everything that we needed. I ordered the chili cheese omelet, a half portion after hearing of this places' claim to fame and it was undeniably huge, but it was not that great. The chili had no flavor, very bland, all the flavor came from the cheddar. The hashbrowns were good, done really nicely, not burnt to a crisp like they had been sitting on a grill all day, which is somewhat typical in the afternoon at breakfast places... so good work! My wife had a salad which she described quite well, "I'm having trouble finding lettuce in my salad." Ham, turkey, bacon, pickles (odd), olives, and a few other veggies, she agreed it wasn't bad but certainly not worth coming back for. I will say that this place isn't cheap, but you certainly do get a lot for your money. We spent about $35 for the two of us and had we elected to take home leftovers, would have had two meals (two big meals!). I can taste the value, but I'd rather taste something delicious that stands out. Not a horrible place, but I can't really recommend it.

Food had large portions but was shocked by how dirty the restaurant was. In fact it was downright disgusting! Having run one myself there is no excuse for those conditions in any restaurant and comes down to poor organization, and management. It took away from the food.

Horrible service. Really terrible. Food wasn't any better, I had the country fried steak.... It was like cardboard, and I think I might have enjoyed cardboard better, might have been seasoned at least. Our waitress chatted another table up while we waited and waited some more for our order to be taken, it wasn't very busy but all the waitstaff made themselves look very busy, upon closer inspection they were really just running around doing nothing or chatting with regulars. You must have one thing to draw customers in, they missed the mark on all accounts, I'll become a regular at an establishment that deserves my business.

I've been to Carol's a single time to try out the B&G. I had a half order and a side of scrabbled eggs. Everything was delicious, except maybe for the biscuits. They aren't really biscuits, now are they? More like a biscuit cake, with the consistency of cornbread. I'd be reluctant to recommend the B&G to anyone, although the gravy and hash browns are quite good. As others have commented, the portions are ridiculous. I only made it through half the half order. Service and ambiance was mediocre at best.

Great spot for a homestyle breakfast. The sheer amounts of people put through and the food served here are astounding. Great food, great service, water glasses and coffee are never empty. Don't bother coming if you want gluten free PDX upscale.. And don't write a bad review because you don't get that. Its a diner with good food and truckstop portions. The waitresses have food on their aprons because they work their butts off running food and serving people. Worth every penny to eat ;)

Some of the best food in one of the biggest dives I've ever been too! The waitresses are nice in a real down homie kind of way. It smelled like cheap cooked bacon when we got in. There is nothing NOTHING nutritious about this food. It is all simply made and fat people love it because they give you way too much food. That's why I like it. When I want to slob out & eat some good PMS food, I come to Carol's. Way too much food. Way greasy. Love it!

The gem of Vancouver, come here for your breakfast fix! I would recommend coming early in the morning or on a week day to miss the crowds on the weekends. The Food is very large, but they do not at all sacrifice quality for quantity. You will feel as if it was made with the same love you would share with your family at home. I have come here for 20 years and every time I go it meets expectations. They do a pretty good dinner as well, But I have only tried that once. I would recommend going there for lunch though! HUGE burgers, fantastic crispy chicken sandwhich. Get the tots, and if you get cheese on the tots they will bring em' out on a separate place.

Best place hands down for breakfast!! One meal is like enough breakfast, lunch, & dinner!! They serve huge portions!! I've always had super friendly service here. Great place to eat if you're super hungry!! And they make some tasty biscuits & gravy!

I went there for breakfast on Saturday morning because my bf kept gimmick-ING me about how good and huge their portion is. It was crowd with bunch of hungry people, our server kind of tough, reminds me of my straight high school teacher. The food came in a small plate, but piled up with food (great strategy) it gives the effect of a big portion, it's actually not that huge. It was ok, the coffee taste like whatever and people were rushing you because they need the table right away (well, I was still eating and my plate not even halfway done) I am not so sure to comeback, one time it's enough for me. Just because our friends live around there and they like to bring their kids here, I would consider to have breakfast there again.

My wife and I stopped by for a Late morning breakfast on a Tuesday, The restaurant was moderatly busy. I ordered the Ham steak breakfast and my wife ordered the Country fried steak, our meals arrived quickly hot from the kitchen the food was very tasty and filling. The portions at Carols are usually on the large side. We liked the food so much we ordered a breakfast to go for my mother in law who was at home. I had iced tea it was pleasently strong and fresh. I have come to Carols on and off over the years and have never been dissapointed. It has always been a wonderful place to find large quantities of great tasting comfort food. I am planning my next group breakfast there right now.

I do not consider this the best hub in Vancouver as a resident I am deeply unhappy with the condition of the restraunt. I went to breakfast over a few weeks ago and all the tables were filthy and the waitress was just hanging out and socializing like a teenager. The physical state and environment of the restraunt was trashy everything was falling apart and bar stools were unfixed and broken. The food portions are too large and the food is of average quality. If you are on a diet do not come to this restraunt because their servings are for 2-3 people depending on the dish. I did not like their coffee because it tasted worse than Sharis and their lack of organization and management took away from the overall experience.

The man and I are have been doing low-carb successfully for a few months, and one of the difficult things is finding a restaurant to accommodate us, while still offering things our friends would like. Carol's Corner Cafe fits the bill perfectly. Two fried eggs and a sausage patty filled me up - and was just enough food. The man and our friend got "half-size" omelets that were as big as their heads. The omelets were just as good reheated the next morning. It makes me wonder if the giant portions are part of a diabolical scheme to keep people from needing to go to another restaurant the next morning. .. Hmmm. Well played, Carol. Other good points - the windows let in plenty of light, the servers were attentive with the coffee, and our particular server was EXCELLENT about making sure she got our order exactly right (we wanted a few changes.) There is an overall positive vibe about this place. It's funky and cool without being squalid, and now that I know I can eat there and stick with being low-carb, we'll be back again. Soooon.

Thought I had posted on this place, but doesn't look like I did. I had heard from a couple of people that this was really good. So, my daughter and I stopped by one day. The place is old and looks like it needs a thorough cleaning. The staff, not very enthusiastic. I ordered the biscuits and gravy. What a mistake. The biscuits were huge - and bad, bad, bad. Large, doughy in the middle bad biscuits. The gravy? Doubly bad, really no flavor. I can't see what everyone raves about. There are so many better places to go than Carol's. I prefer Cameo, Dulin's, and even Elmers is better than this place. Please, I beg you...don't go...you'll be sorry.

So, I must say the beginning of this experience was scary. We used GPS to find the place and it messed up so we passed it. Getting there, we realized it was a greasy spoon, but we are okay with that. We like diners. We walked in and there were many empty tables. We sat down and waited. 10 minutes went by and I finally asked one of the 4 waitresses who kept cleaning up around us but not acknowledging us if we had a particular waitress we could call ours. A VERY surley woman came to our booth and took our order. No smile, no welcome, just order took and walked away. I ordered the basic eggs with bacon, my partner an egg sandwich. A few minutes later the food came. To our TRUE surprise the food was great ~ LARGE, but good. I rarely say this, but there was simply too much on the plate! The hash browns covered my plate and was an inch thick. They were good, but too much. The bacon (5 slices) was thick, meaty and good. The eggs were cooked well. After a few minutes the waitress came back and I was shocked to see her smile and conversational. Maybe it was a twin, because she truly was a different person than the one who took our order! In the end the experience was ok. The diner was dirty, the food oversized, but the price was right and the bacon was good. I would go back, but not often and only when I just wanted lots of food on a plate.

Oh Carol's corner. The portions are BIG - like the 3 men I was with (husband, my dad, FIL) had a half order of Hash and still had half to take home. Even though the portions are big they aren't all the greasy. Now, they still are a bit greasy since you're mixing no less than 6 ingredients together per breakfast but it's certainly not as bad as other places. The food is cheap too when you consider the amount you get. The wait staff was nice and efficient. The atmosphere was what you would expect for a place like this...and I've been here before multiple times so that might have had something to do with it!

Yelpers noted the enormous portions and they weren't kidding. My boyfriend and I ordered the half order of a Denver omelet (which comes with hash browns and toast), two pieces of french toast, and two pancakes. We were able to finish half of the omelet and hash browns, one piece of the french toast, and half of one of the pancakes. We were so full! The next morning we cooked up the leftovers and had another full meal. The amount of food for the price is incredible and it was really tasty.

Really good comfort food that is served in huge portions. You aren't going to find fancy espresso drinks and fancy food here. And god love them for that! The service is always quick and very friendly. The staff doesn't hover but they do have some sort of coffee cup radar. Your cuppa will never get cold here. If you go during the peak breakfast hours you are going to have to wait for a table, but I've never waited more than 10 mins or so. The food comes quickly and in large quantities. You are going to leave here with a full stomach and a enough food in a take out box for the next morning.

I searched Yelp to find a place to take my mother for mother's day brunch. After reading the reviews, I decided to go with Carol's Corner. It's not fancy but the reviews sold me. You seat yourself which was fine. The staff were prompt, attentive and courteous. Being new, I asked for suggestions and thank goodness Natasha recommend the 1/2 order. My brother ordered the regular corned beef hash plate and he couldn't finish it...might I add, he can chow. He was happy to have it for left overs the day after. My mother ordered the pancakes, which were gigantic...and that was the small. I had the hashbrown (ham, bell peppers, cheese, etc.) pile covered with gravy. Quite tasty! It was all very delicious. More than enough, but no complaints here! Good food, clean, comfortable, great service, more importantly - the prices are reasonable. We are definitely heading back there again!!

Someone called this place's portions "Gluttony," and that's a perfect description. The food isn't just tasty, but also as overwhelmingly filling. My wife loved what she got, and I was happy with my flapjacks, which were the size of manhole covers (you think I'm kidding, but I'm not exaggerating as much as it sounds), and there were three to wade through. My meal was good, though the hay bale of hash browns that came with my wife's meal were bland. The service totally reminded me of "Alice's Restaurant," and the clientele looked to be regulars. I don't mind going back, but I need to plan in advance, check with my doctor to confirm my cholesterol level, and have a defibrillator on hand.

Carols' Corner Cafe is the King (Queen?) of Breakfast. Extremely fast and friendly service (even on Sunday's), and portions of delicious home cooked food so large you have to take some home with you. This is a great spot for breakfast or lunch. They also do dinner service on some nights during the week, and although I haven't been there I've been told it's just as delicious.

I guess messing with tourists isn't just a past time in Hawaii. We only ate here because the people working at the mini mart at the gas station across the street said there wasn't anymore places to eat down the street. We were in a hurry, on the way to a class and needed to eat breakfast. We later found out there is a Cameo cafe with superior food in the same parking lot as the tennis/golf club that was holding the class. I ordered the 2 eggs with hash browns and toast. Yes the portions were big, and the easy over eggs came already broke on top of the hash browns. I ended up having to eat some of the hash browns to recoup my egg yolks. The toast came super saturated in some butter-like yet NOT butter fluid. I ate the eggs and some toast and a scant amount of hash browns. I felt hungry but was fine before we ate. Afterward the phlegm-fest started. Shortly after we left the table my nose was stuffed up then runny. I was spitting up stuff and not happy. I usually eat healthy and avoid trans fats, high fructose corn syrup, Etc. and my body told me loud and clear it didn't like the food. I prefer quality over quantity and will not be back.

Carol's corner is a fabulous place to eat, especially for breakfast. They have good home cooked food. I would recommend anything with the gravy on it. They make it with real bits of pork and it is mouth watering. I also had the Breakfast sandwich with sausage, egg, and cheese, and it was great. Word to the wise. If you are going to Carol's corner as the starting point of your day and do not plan on going home for a while, order half portions. The portions are ginormous and you will take at least half home of a full portion.

If you look around at the clientele here, you'll see why they come. But are they attracted to this place because the portions are huge (and so are they)? Or, did they get that way from coming here??? The full size omelet is TWELVE eggs. Nuff said? Nope. Every plate is PILED HIGH with hashbrowns, whether you want them or not. The waitresses all look like lumberjack wives, but they are friendly, the coffee is hot, and the food is not bad. When we visit our friend in Vancouver, it's one of it local fav's. He too is a big fan of big portions.

  • Aaron R.

The serving sizes at this place can be officially called "gluttony", I think. It might sound funny, but I actually felt a bit embarrassed with the pile of food in front of me considering how absolutely out of proportion it was to what a normal person would eat at a single breakfast. I had a HALF ORDER of their house hash scramble, and it filled a dinner plate two inches deep. It was simply ridiculous. The food was OK, but the prices were ridiculously high. At least they reflected the serving sizes. If you're looking for a cheap breakfast, I guess you could find one here, but only if you're averaging the cost over a couple of days and taking leftovers home with you. The extra money certainly does not go into an ambience fund. The place is comfortable, but not someplace that just cries for you to linger. It is a place to consume, and then to depart from. Not a place to get comfy with the newspaper... and the time limit posted on the menu confirms this.

Let me be clear on two points. One, Big portions and great service do not equal great food. Two, Guy Fieri will never come here. My wife and I tried this place based on the fact that The Columbian picked it as the best breakfast in Vancouver and the multiple good Yelps. We showed up this morning and the place was definitely hopping but we .were seated right away. The server was quick with coffee and water and was very friendly too. I ordered the Chicken Fried Steak with eggs sunny side up and my wife had the Ham and Cheese croissant. The food came ungodly fast. We were both surprised. Now let's talk about the food. First when I order Chicken Fried Steak I expect to get a steak (cubed or otherwise) that is fried like chicken not dredged in flour and then thrown on a griddle. That is not fried. It was tough and didn't have much flavor. The steak was then put on top of my sunny side up eggs which did two things. First, the weight of the steak broke both of the yolks. Second, the heat from the steak finished cooking the yolk that was now running throughout the plentiful yet soft and undercooked hashbrowns. My wife's opinion of the Ham and Cheese croissant was a resounding "Meh." Let me be clear, the food wasn't horrible, it's just that it was just like the food I've had in hundred's of other greasy spoons around the country. For the quantity it is a good value and the service was fast and friendly. Would I go back? Probably not. I'd rather take the time and go to someplace like Mother's or Fat Alberts.

Just went this weekend for the first time... Service was exellent !! Those employees work hard an still have time to smile and fill your beverages. We had the CC omelet with hash browns . It was HUGE , I could only eat half of the full order! The flavor was fresh and food was hot! I highly suggest eating at Carols !!

My husband and I are new to Vancouver and wanted a good breakfast. Wanted to try Fatty Patties but it closes at 2pm. A local business told us to try Carols, it had won the 'best breakfast/comfort food'. WELL, I was very disappointed. The service was okay, no smiles just okay. I ordered the ham and eggs and my husband the bacon and eggs. The only good part of that breakfast was the 'bacon'. The best bacon I've tasted in a very long time. The hash browns filled most of your plate and they were burnt... Unless for a bacon sandwich would not go back there. Over rated... Adding an edit: The hours of operation are inconsistent. Hours are not posted. Just a closed sign in the window in the afternoons. So not a place to go out of your way for, it could be closed.

Don't just come hungry, come with TWO STOMACHS! This place is getting famous for it's intensely over-sized home-style breakfasts. I've been here twice now and it's still amazing to me how high they can pile omelettes, biscuits with gravy, and hash browns. It's been packed both times I've been there, and despite the crowd the cafe still runs with great efficiency. Imagine a long line at the door, waitresses with 4-5 plates on their arms, and hostesses frantically seating as fast as they can. Their biscuits and gravy is not my favorite of all time, but still in my top five. I also enjoyed their corned beef hash. My sister's boyfriend ordered a sausage omlette with hash browns and just kept looking at the mountainous pile of morning meal mess in awe. The only downer was the waitress' personality much resembled that of dry toast. *pun completely intended*

Retro looking, small-ish cafe. The waitresses were all really nice and attentive. Food was ok. We had breakfast - sausage gravy was good, chunks of sausage, not too peppery, bisquit was light and fluffy; my boyfriend's eggs and bacon were a little overcooked. Coffee was so-so. Servings were big. Nice family place.

It is only a matter of time before this place gets a visit from Guy Fieri and his camera crew. The servings at this place are INSANEly big and the food is good. I have tried their pancakes, omelettes, and burgers and I would order any of them again. The only thing that sucks is I don't live in that area so I don't get to eat it very often! Probably a good thing for my waistline though.

OMW! This place rocks as far as down home country cooking!!! I'll post pics later but the portions r humungous!! We went at breakfast time on the day after Thanksgiving. We saw hashbrowns everywhere & they were the ones that are soft. We like crispy so we asked if they served home fries...we were told by our waitress to order some skillet...sorry I forget what it was called but i think it's the only thing that comes with home fries/country potatoes. We shared this meal & still had 1/2 to take home to uncle Lance! LOL!! We sat at the counter where not too many people seemed to want to sit that were in line so we helped ourselves. Parking was hard to find. The pkng. lot was full & that was when there wasn't a line around the building (as my dad has said there is often). The place isn't fancy or that clean. It's like going to ur granny's house...the one that doesn't care too much about what her kitchen looks like when company comes over. Don't miss an oppurtunity to visit this place, just bring a friend & an appetite!!

I love the food they make. They have some of the largest servings for breakfest food I have seen. It is a local diner with what it takes to make sure they stay there forever. The Pancakes are large. They are the best place in vancouver to grab breakfest anytime of the day. Friends and I always go there for breakfest if we eat out.

If you want quantity over quality, this is the place to go. The "biscuits" and gravy looked like a huge slab of cornbread and were very dry. My husband and I both had chicken fried steak that was probably the worst I've ever had. This place is always busy and heard good things so I tried it out but I will not be going back.

Wow we were so disappointed! Servings were huge but very low quality. It had no flavor. Not even salt. We will never be back.

Great food, huge portions, friendly staff! Even during the middle of the Easter breakfast rush, I never had any issues with getting my food, or coffee refills. The ladies were busy, sure, but I never felt, sitting alone in my booth, like I wasn't as important as the huge table of like 14 people... which I HAVE seen in other restaurants.

I love this place because they have good staff and food is always great! My first time going to CCC, I made a mistake ordering extra plate for my 2 year old. Serving is huge! I learned my lesson after that. We always leave happy after dining at CCC. We'll keep coming back!

Carol's never disappoints! The food is delicious, the plates are the size of your head, and the prices are reasonable. The staff are all lovely and make you feel at home no matter how often you visit. I love this place!!

Giving people a large portion of food that doesn't have any flavor, or even prepared properly, does not a good restaurant make. This place is so overrated. I wish it would close and be replaced with something delicious.

    (1)

I had the best homemade corned beef and hash. I am also a fan of their country fried steak, yummy! They give huge portions, enough for the next day!

  • Drew D.

Came in and got seated right away on a Saturday which was nice. The service was fast and decently friendly, got our food in about 10 minutes after ordering. The omelette was fire and the portion was crazy, a half order filled the whole plate. Top breakfast place in Clark County.

    (5)

    (3)

    (3)

    (1)
  • Eric G.

  • Daniel W.

If you want quantity over quality, this is the place to go. The "biscuits" and gravy looked like a huge slab of cornbread and were very dry. My husband and I both had chicken fried steak that was probably the worst I've ever had. This place is always busy and heard good things so I tried it out but I will not be going back.

  • Magicka M.

    (4)
  • Jess K.

    (4)
  • Skip C.

Jules)
