Oh my lord, thank you Patty's! Came here with a friend who swore by their burger and shakes, and he was most definitely right. I had the bleu cheese burger and added on jalapeños and bacon. DAMNNNNNNN!! Burger was delicious, Mr. Pibb with vanilla flavoring to wash it down and a caramel shake for dessert. Everything from the food to the service was awesome. I'll definitely be back for more.

After reading all the readers, I had to try this place out! The inside of the place is so cute. I really like how it's kind of like an "old school" theme. The place was pretty clean, I came here with a friend on a Thursday for lunch so it wasn't too busy! We were seated immediately and everyone there was friendly! So customer service: 10/10. There were so many things on the menu! But one thing I had to get was the strawberry shake. I saw on reviews that people were raving about it so had to see what it was all about! My friend and I got pancakes and a burger with fries. The pancake was all right wasn't really fluffy or as soft. Overall, the burger and shake was all right. Nothing to rave about. I've been to Shake Shake Shake (also in Tacoma), and I like their shakes/burger better than here. The shakes there are more thick and give you the leftovers which I absolutely love. Overall, I don't think I'll be coming back bc I didn't really enjoy the food as much as people were raving about it. But everyone's different, so you should give it a try!

If you're craving a good burger this is a good place to go. The bacon on my cheeseburger was delicious and of course the burger overall was yummy. We shared a root beer float which was delicious. Everything was a good price too. They use sweet pickles on their burgers just an FYI.

This is my third time at this restaurant and everyone I come here I'm excited the food is great and the service is wonderful. I totally recommend this establishment if you want a good burger.

Always a great experience going here! My two kiddos and I hit this place up for the best milkshakes and burgers!

Food was great, atmosphere is plentiful. Memorabilia all over the walls of old school muscle cars and people. The waiter we had was nice however he messed up the order for my wife but they quickly fixed it. He misunderstood most of what all of us said but we didn't catch the part that he messed up. Still great food and service. Recommend if you haven't come by here to do so. The milkshakes are AMAZING! I recommend the cheesecake milkshake. And they offer a 10% military discount!

The food was good. There were a few mistakes but I would come back again. The milk shakes were milkshake nothing to rave about

I am not sure if i will be back, if for anything it will be the food and the attentive staff. They greeted me as I walked through the door, sat me at a great table and provided excellent service. The mushroom swiss burger and medium chocolate shake came right out. What has me worried is the TPCHD Inspection listed below.. Just ordered to go go with my brother and husband.. Two patty burgers and an order of chili fries and a strawberry lemonade. The burgers, I'm told were good... The fries that came on the side however were super soggy.. Almost as if they had been microwaved, not fried, and my chili fries were in the same sad state. The cheese had melted onto the styrofoam and it was warped... Pretty sure they microwaved these too; the strawberry lemonade was delicious though with real strawberry pieces, and the service was good. The girl at the front was friendly. Oh! And btw, if anyone there is reading this, I only got TWO packets of ketchup... That's 2... For three meals. Tsk tsk, guys.. Tsk tsk

If you like 50s diners and huge burgers and shakes, this place is worth a try. Parking is very difficult to find. The prices are reasonable. The food is satisfying. The interior feels a bit worn but not dirty. The service is fine.

This place was ok. Everything was decent and I can't really think of any complaints. I like there milk shakes and I like that they had cheesy fries. Honestly I felt like we had to wait too long and not just for the food but to just order in the first place. If you live by here I would give them a try but if you live closer to another local burger place I would just go there. If we are in the area again I might try them again.

When I worked in Tacoma, I would always drive past this place with intrigue. It's quaint, has a nice retro look, and was always busy. My two sisters and I decided to meet here for some burgers and shakes since that's what reviews hyped this place up most about. We were promptly seated by a nice-enough waitress and asked for our drink order. We ordered three shakes: 1-medium strawberry cheesecake, 1-medium Nutella, and 1-small root beer malt. We also asked for waters. While we waited for our shakes, I took a look around. The place is cluttered with retro/diner decor and TONS of pictures of customers. It really looks like a great family place. There are few tables, and the jukebox playing 50's music was a good addition. But, with all the clutter - everything seemed kind of dingy, dusty an in disrepair. Kind of a turnoff for such a cute place! Our shakes arrived fairly quickly. The two medium shakes were not much difference in size to the small, and with quite a price difference, I'd probably go with the medium next time. They were delish! Creamy whipped cream topped, cold thick shakes with all three having great flavor. However, we got no waters. We asked again. For our food order, we got: 1-cream cheese burger, 1-breakfast-y burger (topped with a fried egg, hash browns and nacho cheese), and 1-mushroom burger without the bun. The burgers arrived freshly prepared and well cooked. I didn't taste the cream cheese one or the breakfast one, but the mushroom burger was devastatingly under seasoned...as were the mushrooms. They tasted like they were sauteed in water - no salt, no nothing. I specifically order burgers without buns for this reason - do they know how to cook and season their meat!? Not here... The fries were also crispy and hot. However, for some reason, mine were not seasoned - at all. (Again?) But, my sisters orders were both seasoned with some kind of seasoning salt and they had no complaints. We had to ask again for water - which we finally got, and was never offered a refill despite the place only having two other customers. If I had gotten consistent and well-seasoned food, I can see how this would be a go-to place for burgers. However, at close to $40 for the three of us, I'm not sure I'd go back here for anything but the shakes. And, maybe not even then, since there are quite a few places closer to my house that can make a pretty great shake as well.

Pretty good food.. I had a blue cheese burger with fries, and it was definitely above average. The one thing they could've done better , though, was to put better locks on the bathroom door. I went to use the can and when I opened the unlocked door my eyesight was greeted by an old lady's tocus with what looked like a rolled up parchment sticking out. It kinda ruined my dining experience since what remained of my appetite flew the coop. Fix the locks, compadres, because that image is still burned in my mind.

  • Steffen W.

The food came quickly, hot and delicious. Burger had a little crisp but still juicy inside... Fries were seasoned and hot... Cherry coke was of the regular coke with the cherry syrup added. Definitely would come back again. Staff was very friendly.

I LOVE a good burger and this is where it's at! My favorite is the A-1 burger. Yum! So good! The shakes are just as good. Love this place!

Holy cow, this place is AMAZING. First off, let's talk about the value. The place is the closest thing to an authentic diner I have seen in Tacoma, and you can easily order a full meal for two for $20 and change. And it's a full meal and a drink, too! Next lets talk about the MILKSHAKES. WHOA. Their vanilla cheesecake milkshake is something to write home about. And they are huge. Order the medium. The large could feed a family of four! Lastly, the food! Pages upon pages of burgers and other diner-type sandwiches (like patty melts, French Dips, Clubs, etc.) as well as things like hot dogs, chicken fingers, and fish and chips. The burgers are huge and there are no less than THREE different types of fries to choose from as well as onion rings. This place is a gem!

  • Ashley B.

I've been coming here a few times after my initial visit, so it wasn't a fluke that they got such a high rating the first time. Everything was the same each time we've been in. Service is always great. The restaurant is always clean. And the food is always delicious! Consistency is key and very much appreciated.

Parking was a little awful but that's because we never carry cash around. But let's just say we are NEVER hitting up Red Robin ever again while we are so close to something infinitely better. Sure they are greasy, but it is what you look for when you eat at a place like this. Wanna be bad? Go all out, baby!!! Tables are adequate and thankfully we didn't have to wait long. Shocking that there isn't a line out the door. The burgers were juicy (the soft buns with crisped edges!!!) and came with delicious fries. It's like eating at Mom's house where Dad's grilling. You never go home hungry and the food is fresh and delicious.

Definitely will be returning. Big, delicious, gooey, oh-so-satisfying burgers and amazing fries with homemade shakes! Yum, yum, yummy. My whole family's bellies are very happy and I guarantee you all will love it. Oh, the staff is amazing and the ambience is perfect for a burger joint. You get your food in no time and are on your way to experiencing food nirvana almost as soon as you order. Will be back soon for more.

The burgers are huge. Definitely worth the price. Old school themed filled with pictures of customers taking on a challenge of the biggest burger I've ever seen. Street parking but a lot is close by. Stop by this place people

The burger was juicy, saucy perfection! I definitely want to go back to tey their milkshakes. Other people in the restaurant seemed to be very enthusiastic about the ones they ordered. Love the decor as well.

After reading all the great reviews about Patty's we decided to check it out. Needless to say the meal as a whole was disappointing and underwhelming. The burgers were dry and overcooked. Just saying if you're going to post a warning about undercooked meat, give your customers the option of how they want it cooked. My husband got a burger with pastrami on it and the amount of pastrami on the burger was pathetic, especially for the price we were charged. I will say they make a good milkshake but I'm pretty sure the glasses were all the same size and each shake was priced differently. The one item I had no problems with were the onion rings. I really wanted to have the experience that the other reviews talked about but it just didn't happen. Perhaps if we are in the area again we will give it another shot but it's doubtful.

The burger I got was delicious!!!!!! The fries were tasty but I couldn't finish them all. I also got a chocolate milkshake which was yummy. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because I had a heck of a time finding parking- there is street parking but it's hard to find. There's a parking lot next door but the signs in the lot list the businesses and Patty's was not included :( The music was a little loud for my taste- not sure why music always has to be blasting at me. Overall, I will be back!!!

Should be zero star. Extremely rude people including manager. Worst customer service ever. Not kid friendly!

Chipotle burger was somewhat scrumptious. The chipotle sauce is delicious! They should serve chipotle sauce with a straw. My only qualm with this place is the frozen french fries why not make fresh fries? Yes I said qualm. Good day sir.

First off the place is a fire hazard, there were so many people i felt like I was in a sardine can. I walked in and immediately though I'd there was a fire, half of theses people would be trampled. Next, i ordered biscuits and gravy, which by the way they display three types of gravy on the menu, and my wife ordered a waffle. After bringing my children's food, they informed me that they had no gravy at all nor did they have biscuits. After having to reorder, we realized they never made the waffle. so after canceling our orders, they brought us the full bill with no discount. Very unprofessional and poor customer service in my opinion...

Patty's is cute, lots of memorabilia to look at. Good music and good service. Big menu lots to choose from. Good prices for the amount of food you get. I got the footlong mushroom dog with fries. Grilled mushrooms and onions were good. Hot dog was good but still a bit cold in the middle, it is a thick hot dog. Fries were hot but not seasoned which is ok because you can put on amount of salt you like. We got ranch and bbq, my son liked the bbq to me it was ok. The ranch seemed bland too. BUT the strawberry milkshake was delicious, we got the large and shared it was huge. My son ate the crab burger and he said it was good. I wasn't blown away, but would eat there again and try something different. Our server was really nice she seemed like she might be new, maybe not quite sure what to do but she did a good job.

Oh Patty's you broke my heart! Patty's is trying really hard for that classic 50's and early 60's diner look. A lot of James Dean and Marilyn Monroe posters and a ton of muscle car photos. It all feels a little too contrived, as if somebody really scored big at a Spencer's scratch and dent sale at a defunct shopping mall. I ordered a chocolate shake,a bacon cheeseburger and fries, but I ordered gravy fries, because I felt that sampling their gravy would give me insight on the quality of their breakfast. My chocolate shake was delivered and it was pretty impressive and I had ordered a small one. It was really smooth, creamy and very chocolaty. There was more whipped cream than I could ever want, but it was gorgeous, so who am I to say anything bad about that? Then things headed South when my burgers and gravy fries arrived. First off the cheese on my burger isn't melted and that's amateur hour. The cheese on a cheeseburger should always be melted, period. Secondly, the pool of ketchup on those unmelted slices of cheese. Straight ketchup goes with your fries and not on your burger. I guess the fact that the cow already gave its life once for this burger wasn't enough for the cooks at Patty's, they wanted to be good and sure that this burger would ever resemble something that had come for anything that was once alive - it was dry, tough and utterly flavorless. To make matters worse there was also a big dollop of yellow mustard and some sweet pickle relish ?! The good news was that the bun was toasted, the bacon was good, the pickles were good and there was a nice slice of red onion and the lettuce was cool and crispy. The customer service at Patty's was terrific and a lot of people seem to be enjoying themselves here. I just wish that the quality of the food matched the customer service.

First time here after reading great reviews. First off server had very soft thick Spanish accent- could barely understand him. I had 3 kids with me- I asked for a shake for the kids and a med shake for me. He charged me for 1 medium 1 small and 1 kids. He said I had told him a small to share. The girls are 3. What part of ordering off the kids menu says give me a smaller than kids size "small shake! Also- the 3 yr olds split a burger. He charged me 1.99 to split a freaking kids meal. Seriously?!?! He never offered water and shorted us straws. When asked for to go stuff he brought the wrong amount of everything asked for. DO NOT GO HERE! SAME QUALITY AS DENNYS!!!!

So yummy! I loved it. You get a lot for what you pay for. And the menu is pretty big they have a lot to pick from. I had the chipotle burger and the sauce was great. I'll be returning! Can't wait to try a shake next time!!

My family wanted to try somewhere we had never been and we were in the mood for burgers so we tried this place. We were not disappointed! The waitress was friendly. We ordered soda and they came out in frosted big mugs. The burgers were cooked well, not over done at all. We all got different kinds and everyone was happy with theirs. My kids said the fries were good, I ordered the waffle fries and they were really good. The atmosphere was fun, nostalgic feel with oldies music going and Marilyn Monroe pics everywhere. We waited to order our shakes to go and they came in to go cups. Wow, they were awesome!!! Nothing bad to say about this place.

My son and I are starving and I'm pulling up to the stop light on South Tacoma Way, I see these amazing 2 words in red paint on the side of a building, Patty's Burgers. I grabbed my phone, checked out the Yelp reviews and turned around. Omg we were not expecting the awesomeness that came from this place!! It's very quaint and decorated with vintage car pictures and Marilyn Monroe pictures. The staff was awesome and friendly. We sat ourselves and our waitress came with menu's and quickly took our drink order. The choices were just too much!! We both got the root beer float, AMAZING!! I ordered the bacon cheeseburger and my son ordered the Philly. We were not disappointed at all. I can honestly say that this place blew my taste buds away and I'd pass up Five guys anytime for this place!! I even told my best friend to try it with her family and she is picky about her food because she has such bad allergies that her taste buds don't always taste like normal. She loved the place!! Can't wait to bring my husband here!!

This place is GREAT! Delicious milk shake and burgers. I had a peanut butter milkshake, probably the best milk shake I've ever had! I tried the burger dip and it was delicious! Hubby had the pretzel burger with pastrami and sauerkraut and his exact words were "its delicious" now for him to say that you know it's got to be good because I hardly ever hear him say that! LOL. The bun was actually a pretzel bun and it was soft and very good! We will definitely be returning to this hidden little gem to try their other burger selections, quite a few to choose from. Service was great too, friendly and fast!

Finally a great burger joint not called frisko or pick quick. Burgers are juicy and good size. The shakes are thick and flavorful. The Philly cheesesteak is a bit skimpy but decent. Cheesy fries are average but not bad. All in all good solid joint. Price is a bit above average but worth it.

So heard all the rave about this place... Decided to check it out.... On lunch break... This place is lucky its a 1 star minimum! Got my food to go... ( place was packed ) Was OVERPRICED for portion....Food was POORLY packaged... ( container wasnt closed ) Spilled all over inside bag, which leaked ,spilled all over the inside of my car... ( so much it wasn't edible ) When called manager, he was rude, rushed and unprofessional. Returned for a refund, and was told it was my fault... Then was given too much money back (as they just wanted me gone i guess...), gave the overage back... AND WILL NEVER RETURN AGAIN!

Can't believe I haven't gone here sooner. My husband and I were Way impressed. I ate a Bacon Cheeseburger with waffles fries and a chocolate milkshake to down it! It was my first visit here and I probably looked I haven't ate in years because I took barely any breaks. It was so delicious!!! The Staff was very nice, I'd definitely come back soon! I'd even drive all the way here just come back for the shake on a hot summer day:-) P.S. It's a burger joint, those looking for low calorie food or salads need not eat here.

  • Bryan S.

I heard this place was good and all, but from what I've experienced, it was alright. The lady who served my visiting friend and I here was great, hands down! She offered me coffee at a good time when my drink was low, and was helpful with her suggestions. We ordered one of their extra large hot dogs that was two feet long, if I remember. The food could be better as the hot dog bun was really plain, and the chili that was on top of the hot dog did not spice it up at all, either. This was only one meal, and I don't live too far from here at all, so If I head back I'll see what else there is to offer. As for the milkshakes, unfortunately I could not try since it was already a challenge to eat the hot dog!

"Don't hold a grudge cuz I'm bout' to judge" Its a beautiful thing to see something BESIDES Denny's & Sharis for Good Ol' american food n B-fast in TacTown for cryin' out loud! No this one is not open 24hours-BUT they DO have B-Fast the whole time they are open and it is sumthin' wonderful,,,No franchise food here buddy:) This place serves everything and The helpings are larger then life and the service is fast and friendly. Its very entertaining while you wait for your food theres a ton of photos of customers. Lots of Marilyn Monroe and 1950s era memorabilia. And a family or kid or two that venture to try the giant burger which I am in complete awe of....I only wish I had room for it...so big and yummy and worth the $$$ We go here all the time and I always order something different and everything is good. I really love the hot dogs, super big with everything a hot dog needs n then some. Breakfasts are delish, and I really like the diverse Tacomian family atmosphere....I feel at home and FULL by the time I leave WITH LEFT OVERS! They serve so much I never can finish. The only complaint I have is I wish they were open later, but I guess hard working, family owned, friendly restaurants need sleep too!

The first time I went to this place I was impressed by the selection and the decor. I ordered the Bacon burger with fries. When the burger arrived I was a bit disappointed. The bun was way over warmed to the point of being burnt and the fries were a little soggy. Everything between the buns was good but I was not really impressed with the quality control issues. The second time I went I ordered the Philly Cheese Steak with fries. This was one of the top 10 Philly's I have ever had and the fries were seasoned and cooked to perfection. Great experience. I hope that trip number 3 will be even better than the last.

My husband and I stumbled across this place because it is close to our apartment. Boy am I glad we did! We recently moved to Tacoma from Texas and I have been searching for a little bit of home...This place has sweet tea worthy of a Southern Princess. I was in heaven and hooked with the first sip! I had a bacon cheese burger and the first bite was blissful...and then I found the pickles. THEY USE SWEET PICKLES. This Texas girl has found a little bit of happiness far away from home. I will be back regularly!

This place takes you back to the 50's Era of pink ladies and Tbirds with classic pics of old cars and movie stars. We had a light lunch and it was good. Size and portion. Very popular place. May be tempted to come try their 2 foot hotdogs or cakeburger. Lol

The hot dogs are gigantic and loaded with toppings, the burgers are juicy, the shakes are thick and creamy, and the fries are just so-so. Great 50's vibe, family friendly, and awesome customer service.

This is my all time favorite burger and milkshake restaurant. The staff here are very friendly and helpful, the cooks don't scrimp at all and on my 21st they surprised me with a sundae with candle, song, a shirt and took my photo. Very surprising and sweet! The prices are great. I love the old school decor and my favorite item on the menu would be the bacon cheeseburger. You will not be disappointed!

  • Tony N.

This review is strictly for the burger as I did not try anything else on the menu yet. The burger itself isn't all that great. It looks huge but it's mainly just the bun. The patty itself is probably the quality of mcdonalds which should speak for itself and overall very forgettable. The milkshake on the other hand was quite delicious and would definitely come back for that and only that. Would I recommend this to anyone? Definitely not.

You know, this place is just OK. I prefer Frugals or Frisko Freeze burgers to this. (And their burgers are cheaper). Yes, the decor is cool - but I've been to a "cool decor" burger joint in San Diego, so this wasn't new to me. I had a triple cheeseburger. I love cheese so no complaints. But this wasn't a burger that I was "oh-la-la" over. (I had Frisko Freeze burgers two days in a row!) Yes, they have waffle cut fries, but they weren't impressive. I did try a Raspberry milkshake since I've never had a milkshake of that flavor, but I much rather prefer the Tiger Shake from Shake Shake Shake. The good part was the raspberry syrup on the side of the cup. Sorry Tacoma, I've made up my mind.

Best milkshake ever. They have so many. Oli had a caramel shake and I had the chocolate. They have a root beer float shake that I want to try next

  • Barb H.

Awesome burgers and shakes. I come here at least twice a month. Their root beer is served in mugs that have been stored in their freezer. Very limited street parking. Park in grocery outlet lot next door. If you love nostalgic hole-in-the-wall joints, this is the place for you. Pics of Marilyn Monroe and Elvis decorate the place along with snaps of classic cars.

This place is awesome for burgers, hot dogs and milkshakes, and breakfast! The service was great and also the food was delicious. I've been here a couple of times now, and enjoyed my experience every time. It's a feel good joint with lots of pictures on the walls with their big burger and big hot dogs, along with car photos and other cool things. A must try if your in the area!

We were told about this place by a co-worker. My wife had the double bacon cheeseburger, friend had the patty melt, I had the club sandwich with a peanut butter shake. The portions are large and the food is delicious. We will definitely be recommending this place to other people. The guy serving was really polite. (04-08-2014)

Fun and kid friendly. WARNING - The food portions are huge!!! Parking can be a bit troublesome so plan for it. The milkshakes are handmade and very very good. The decor is 50's nostalgia and feels very much like an old school diner. Lot's of James Dean, Marilyn Monroe, and Frank Sinatra pics on the walls with classic music constantly piped through the restaurant speakers. It does feel a bit shabby/run down which is why it's a 4 star instead of 5.

I found the lack of cleanliness/bathroom and the try hard feel of the restaurant atmosphere a little bit of a turn off. However, the food portions were really good. But the food was so so for its cost. I don't think this place is bad, there is definitely better restaurants in the area that you could go to instead.

Great place to have a burger or chicken burger...they are HUGE! Frosty mug of rootbeer and or hand made milkshake.

Great place, excellent burgers, and amazing shakes!! Very friendly staff. I had the double bacon cheeseburger with everything on it and my son had the same but with only bacon and cheese. We both loved it. My 3 year-old wanted the waffle off the kids menu so I had to try it too and it was great! Orange Cream shake was perfect. The medium size seemed like a large anywhere else, and another customer had a large... and it was huuuge! We will definitely be back!

The biggest hotdog and burgers I've ever seen. Pretty finger lickin good with so many different fry options! Good extremely casual place to go after a long day of work.

Bottom Line: Super service with a smile dishing yummy diner classics. Yes, diner classics, not just burgers! From a full list of burgers to sandwiches to breakfast, you'll average about $10 a person if you have anything other than water. And you might want a shake...they're REALLY good here! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I've just noticed I have a tendency to save reviews for my favorite places and never post them...probably because I feel I can't do them justice. Also, because I'm into dives....so while I love me some foie gras and French food...I gush about everyman stuff and get self-conscious. Plus...sometimes I don't wanna share and I don't want people to say bad stuff about what I love. OK - enough whining. I love Patty's. Tucked in a great location on South Tacoma Way and 38th, they have lots of nostalgia decor, especially for classic cars...perfect because they're in the heart of classic carville! They also have tons of pictures of their guests attacking their signature giant burger that has 7 patties and is the diameter of a medium pizza...an item popular with gluttons and birthday parties alike. The service is incredibly friendly and the staff is very happy. I think this is a family owned and run joint...this is a happy family! If you're a popaholic, like me, you'll appreciate their attention to your drink refills and the giant, chilled glasses. Cheeseburgers are in the $7-10 range and are juicy, big and tasty. Nice, crisp, well seasoned fries. Old fashioned, hand dipped shakes served with the extra in the metal shake cup ($3-6). Sandwiches. About 5 different salads. A dozen hot dog options. BREAKFAST all day ($6-11) - eggs benny, pancakes, omelettes, breakfast burritos. $4 kid menu. Also note: two different kinds of veggie burgers, a salmon burger, turkey and chicken burger/sandwiches. Everyone is covered! I am addicted to the Tuna Melt. It's a gut bomb of love that I indulge in about once a month. It's huge - it's a steal at $7.5 because you could eat 1 half and call it good, then eat the other half for dinner. Some folks might say, "big deal - tuna melt!" to which I say, yes - it seems simple, but so much can go wrong. Patty's gets it all right.: heaps of a simple tuna salad, snappy cheddar, crispy bread and a pickle on the side. It's not super fancy inside...but it's the kind of place I love to go with my kids. You can taste the love!

It was ok. We went based of reviews we read on Yelp but were not overly impressed. I got a regular burger and it tastes like something I could have made a home. My husband tried the James Dean hotdog (2 ft long!) and said it was just ok. Glad we tried it but wouldn't go back.

If you like burgers, shakes, and enjoy the 1950s style Americana, this place is for you. The staff was very nice, friendly, fast with the food, and attentive to the customers requests (I am known for asking a million questions). I had the Patty Bacon Cheeseburger and really enjoyed it. I would put the burger on par with, if not above, 5 guys (which is one of my favorite burger joints). There is a ton of options for the burgers and they have a rather diverse menu that has the potential to meet almost anyone's desires. And the milk shake was awesome... Looks like I'll be the in the Gym a little bit longer tonight.

The only reason its not a 5 star rating is because the place is small and usually busy. None the less everyone is super friendly and willing to accommodate the customer. Come hungry and ready to work that meal off. Its a guilty pleasure, the food is so good! I recommend the chipotle burger.

I lovee pattys!! I was introduced about 4 years ago by my step dad and have been in love ever since! The atmosphere is great as well as the food! I love how the fries arent bland like most places and how juicy the burgers are!

Love Patty's! My husband and I began bringing our kids here last year and they never disappoint! The service is great! Food is a step above your typical diner and definitely aims to please. Great little diner to take your kids on a Saturday afternoon. On a sidenote, if you ever want to do a Man vs. Food Party, this is definitely the place. Ask for the cake burger and you'll know what I'm talking about!

Stopped in here for a quick lunch during a business meeting break. Patty's is a quaint diner with very limited seating. Service was very quick. I ordered the Philly cheesesteak with fries. It arrived very quickly and was very delicious. The hoagie bun was smartly toasted and the grilled onions and peppers (along with the melted cheese!) topped off a perfect sandwich. All in all, this was a great experience. This spot is small but it fits right in this great South Tacoma location. I recommend giving this place a try.

Meh is all I can really say about this place. Service was great, smiles all around, nice setting and family friendly. But... the burgers are just meh. The patties feel like your average frozen fare and the sauce is nothing special. I hate to say it, but if you want a burger at this price point, go to Red Robin, the burgers are just in a higher league (or garage). I hate to harp on an honest blue-collar mom and pop joint, but unless the food gets good enough to justify the cost, I won't be going back.

Order: Double Bacon Cheeseburger w/ fries Burger Layout: Bun, Mayo, Bacon, Cheese, Burger, Bacon, Cheese, Burger, Onions, Lettuce, Jalapeño, Tomato, Relish, Bun Cost: $9 + $0.50 for fry sauce and ranch Fries: Straight cut with a smack of seasoning Step out of your car and you're right in the middle of South Tacoma Way. Step into Patty's Burgers and Milkshakes and you're in some sort of strange hybrid between the 1950's and a competetive eating arena. The walls are loaded with two things: 50's era posters like Jimmy Dean, Marilyn Manroe, Hot Cars, Soda Shops, etc. and then tons of photos and a TV that continually streams pictures of those that have been bold enough to try "The Cake Burger", a 7 patty monster the size of a birthday cake served on a giant sesame seed bun. Not willing to go that big, I went for their Double Bacon Cheeseburger. The bacon is crisp, the burgers had a fantastic flavor but lacked the juciness that would have put it over the top, the American cheese was perfectly melted, the jalapeños added a great kick, and the tasty relish on the bottom finished up the taste nicely. I didn't try a milkshake, but they're served in big frosty mugs and looked really good. It also seems as if they have an ice cream happy hour. Finally, if you're up for the challenge, no one has conquered the Cake Burger as of December 3rd. There could be a T shirt with your name on it. 4/5

Tried a mashroom burger baseed off reviews I read. The food is alright, nothing special. Decent average flavor but a very soggy bottom bun. Fries were seasoned good but again nothing special. Small dining room, had to wait for a table at 2p.m so they must be doing something right. Must have been the shakes, I didnt venture there so I can't say.

Love it... the customer service is great. They have a home like feel, as well as great sence of humors for all the staff. Me and my family go there atleast once a month and have never been dissatisfied with any dish. I would recommend this place to anyone and everyone!

Come'on baby, and do the twist! If there was room to dance I would have! I love 50's music and decor. The atmosphere here is very friendly, energectic, and fun. The service comes with a welcoming smile, and surprisingly fast. The drinks and the milkshakes here are the BEST! The food is pretty good too. What a great place to take the family to! I love it when the whole family leaves happy.

Great food and great prices! This 50's style diner will blow your bobby socks off ;) Friendly staff, big menu selection and great food. You can order a "Cake Burger" here which is the size of about 7 burgers!! We have had exceptional service and food here every time! The root beer floats are fantastic, milkshakes are great and my favorite is the strawberry lemonade! These burgers and prices put Red Robin to shame!! They also have every specialty hot dog imaginable! I highly recommend this place! Very family friendly as well!!

We ordered a veggie burger, chilli dog, and a bacon cheese burger. My husband ordered the latter and he swears it was the best hotdog he had ever eaten (more better than red hots.) I ate my veggie cheeseburger and I thought I died and went to heaven . I had been a vegetarian for close to 7 years (when I was much younger and a teenager) and I swear have tried almost every veggie burger known to man. And this joint really makes a delicious veggie burger (not the Boca Burger, Boca burgers are nasty lol) the fries are mediocre. I don't generally enjoy fries from anywhere so that may also be why I wasn't taken back by them. But my husband really enjoyed the curly fries. I wish I had room in my stomach for a shake! Also I ordered the iced green tea! It was so good. No idea of the brand.

My husband and I really like this place! We have had burgers, philly cheesesteak sandwiches, and milkshakes from here. We love it all! The only reasons I give it four stars is because the diner is so small, and the food is really greasy. However, the staff is very friendly and always delivers your food within a reasonable amount of time. It's a cute place for a date night when you don't know where else to go. They also give military discounts!

Each time I drive on the historic South Tacoma Way I always have this craving for Patty's burgers and milkshakes. You get your dollar's worth when you stop by this family-run burger joint that is a rare diamond in the gritty Tacoma rough. Believe me, it's better to spend your money on local businesses such as Patty's rather than at other big name places. At Patty's I always order a cheeseburger and waffle fries with house sauce. The burger may be greasy, but that is what you expect in a burger. It's strange how customers go into a place expecting the whole world to be served to them on a silver platter. Just go in on your own time; let go of all preconceived notions about a place, and maybe you'll finally enjoy your meal for once. Though I digress, I am on Yelp after all.

  • Bill N.

Great diner feel although it doesn't have a counter to eat at. Walls are filled with car pics and other old stuff. I had a ham and cheese omelette which was nice and fluffy but they used sliced lunch meat ham. The home fries were the precut frozen kind out of a bag. They smeared a lot of margarine on half of one of the pieces of toast and the rest was dry. That is a pet peave of mine that shows that the kitchen doesn't really care.

Alright so I visited this place last week before starting my diet. And I gotta say I loved their burger! I had the bacon burger, it was great. The meat was actually seasoned and it was a thick large juicy patty, the bun was soft. The fries were pretty bland though, they could do better by salting and seasoning them. Also there was some kinda red sauce with what I think were onions mixed in. I wasn't into that. But the burger as a whole was friggin delicious. And the diner looks awesome. I like the 50's vibe they had and the girl that took my order was really nice. Also they have some big ass hot dogs that I'd be afraid to even attempt to try. But I do wanna try them

  • Rusty S.

I had the bacon cheeseburger-- big, juicy, and flavorful with shredded lettuce, special sauce, and jalapenos! It was kind of messy and the burger was perhaps too charred, but I gobbled it up and was satisfied. The fries were nothing special, but not bad. At about $7, I'd say it was a pretty good deal for the price. My dining partners ordered a root beer and an ice tea which each arrived in a giant frosty glass mug (I had water). The milkshakes looked really good; I'll have to try one next time! Service was fast enough and very friendly. The only really negative thing about my dining experience here was the reek of Pine Sol in the air. Apparently the staff had just mopped the floor with the stuff (not sure why they didn't wait till after closing) and the odor was really strong. I'll come back, but hopefully they haven't just disinfected the floor next time!

This review has been long over due. We were at at baseball tournament a while back and I found Patty's Burgers on Yelp. I thought that the reviews can't t be that good....could it? Well the whole team rolled on in and took over the place and now I was thinking, could they keep up and get us back on our limited schedule. Well yes they did, the had great and friendly staff. They were accurate with us wanting to divide up our orders by family and keeping us on schedule. The burgers were all great tasting, fries were fantastic and milkshakes were great as well. One family ordered one of the largest burgers I have ever seen and it was also fantastic. I am not sure If Patty's is a destination restaurant but it is getting very close. If anyone is in Tacoma and wanting a burger, I know of a place for you to try.

The interior is a bit cramped but the theme is awesome. The food portions are either big or huge (if that makes sense!) our waitress was very friendly and made us feel very welcome. They are fast with bringing us our food as well. I'll definitely be back!

So I was looking for a place to get some late breakfast...somewhere along the lines of IHOP or Denny's and after getting frusterated w/ the directions I was given to an IHOP, I happened upon Patty's which had a sign outside that announced they served breakfast all day so we gave it a shot. We walked into a relatively small diner that had a complete 50's throw back feel to it and I couldn't have been happier! I noticed a gentleman drinking a huge orange cream float and I just had to have my own - it came it the largest mug I had ever seen! And boy was it delicious!! Then we ordered the breakfasts we were craving along w/ chilli fries, sweet potato fries and all the portions were huge and all at an amazing price!! There are pictures all over the restaurant of people who ordered their signature "cake burger" which is enough to feed four and uses 7 meat patties :) I'm thinking those burgers would be awesome for a birthday and they can write on them like a cake but using ketchup...such an original idea if you ask me! Then I noticed they had enormous 2 foot long hot dogs which they make their own homemade buns for the hot dog to fit :) I look forward to returning so I can try more or their food because from the looks or the menu, it all looks so good!!! Needless to say we were thrilled to have ended up at Patty's instead of Ihop or Denny's because the food was great and the prices were even better!!

I've been to a lot of burger joints and few compare....reading a lot of these reviews is almost laughable....if you are going to a burger joint....GET A BURGER....lol....it's great food and great service with a comfy atmosphere....you can't really ask for more....try the blue cheese burger with bacon ;)

In my opinion this place was ok... just ok. Idk. I think the cluttered feel was too much. It felt crowded and dirty to me. They had a nice bathroom though for a little storefront thrown together type of place. The milkshakes were amazing. I had chocolate and my husband had peanutbutter/banana. My husband loved his open top chili burger thing haha and I got a bacon cheeseburger plain (JUST cheese, bacon and meat/bun) It was good, that's for sure, but the fries weren't very good imo. They had no flavor. I could physically see the seasoning but didnt taste it at all. I'd go back just for the milkshake. It was served in a giant beer bug. Presentation was great :)

I've only been here once but have wanted to go back multiple times. What got me was the "2 foot long" hot dog. That's the reason I went inside. I've only had the hot dogs, and the actual wienie is awesome, they could step up the toppings for the price of a foot long, but I LOVE hot dogs and it's a good hot dog. Nice, tasty, juicy wieners!

I am one very difficult to please, especially after I hit the "hangry" point, but Patty's Burgers was so amazing, no complaints from me! The service was perfect, the food was beyond amazing, I felt comfortable with my daughter playing on my phone with some volume, my soldier's burger matched the description to a T, and I cant wait to go back! From the atmosphere to the milkshakes, Patty's is the place to eat!

  • Johnny B.

Always delicious! The shakes are amazing, the burgers are always hot and juicy, and the fries are just the right amount of crispy. The service is awesome-- fast and friendly, and they act like they actually enjoy having kids there (which is HUGE considering how many places hate kids). It's clean and has a very charming feel to it. So five stars all around! Five for food, five for service, five for cleanliness, five for atmosphere. EAT HERE!!! (unless you're vegetarian because I don't think they have a ton of meatless options...)

After moving to a new neighborhood (goodbye Lakewood, hello South Tacoma), we decided to try out the fare near our home. By near, I also mean "within walking distance". There's something I enjoy about being able to step out of my house and walk somewhere in my neighborhood to get what I need. Patty's Burgers fits this description entirely. Our first trip there was after having stopped at the South Tacoma Farmer's Market one Sunday afternoon. The restaurant was busy and we took up the last table available. The service was quick and friendly - we had our shakes in record time and our food not long after. This was impressive, given how busy the place seemed to be. I had the mushroom burger, my husband had some kind of double-everything monstrosity and my daugher had the kid's chicken basket. We all had shakes - my husband went for traditional chocolate, my daughter chose Oreo and I had raspberry to complement the fresh raspberries I'd just eaten from our purchases at the market. The burgers were AMAZING. While I don't entirely care for the special sauce/relish on the mushroom burger (doesn't really fit the flavor, honestly), that's just a personal preference. The shakes were rich and fresh - and I'm not a big fan of ice cream either, but I devoured mine. All three of us left, our bellies full and satisfied, and I was delighted that the employees took the time to thank us and say goodbye as we left. My daughter and have been back again, for a "payday dinner" while my husband was at work. Once again, we left happy and full, having enjoyed another fine meal. The service on our second trip, at a slower time on a Friday evening, was even better and we never had to wait long for anything. We're definitely sold - this might become a Sunday afternoon tradition for my family.

We used to drive by this place all the time and never thought of stopping. Then one day we were looking for a good breakfast spot and tried Patty's. We now go pretty regularly. They give you good portions for a very reasonable price and the food is good too. I always get the breakfast burrito and I usually can't finish. My husband has tried everything and loves them all! They also have this huge burger we get when we bring a couple of the kids and we never finish it. The shakes are yummy too! The staff is so friendly and they try to give it place a old dinner feel. We enjoy ourselves every time we go, great neighborhood burger/ breakfast spot!

Wish I could give 5 stars! This place is a real gem down on South Tacoma Way! I go here all the time! Burgers are great! Nice soft warm bun, good cheese, always hot, not greasy and made fresh to order. Friends have had hot dogs which are huge sausages with a variety of toppings and flavors. Always get yummy reviews on those. Breakfast is also tasty. The eggs and hasbrowns are cooked perfectly and again, not greasy! The real winner here though is the milkshakes! WOW!!! The peanut butter shake might be the best shake I have ever had. The Marshmallow, Vanilla, Chocolate, Pumpkin and PB/Choc are also very good. They have a seemingly endless assortment of shakes! The decor is a fifties diner style, very cute and fitting for the food. Service is fast and attentive. Place is super clean. If you are in the mood for a challenge, the 7 patty cake burger or the 2 ft long james dean hot dog might be for you. Do yourself a favor and stop in here!

Stopped in for hamburgers with the family. Burgers were pretty good, home style fries were very good. Rest of family thought it was a bit greasy, but i thought burger was solid. Service was very good, nice people. Restaurant was clean, and had 50s motif. You could worse when stopping for burgers.

Patty's Burgers and Milkshakes has a great location for car lovers-right across the street from muscle car paradise so you can browse some classic cars after you eat or before if you need to build up your appetite. That's probably a good idea because the burgers are big and delicious and there are plenty of tasty fries and rings to have too. Once your eyes cease goggling at the plethora of fifties era pinups girls and movie tough guys that paper the walls take a look at the menu... There is a lot so choose from including the Birthday Cake burger that's the size of a large pizza. We shared a cheeseburger and a Marilyn Monroe dog. The burger was juicy and tasty with crisp veggies and the dog was fantastic. Just like Marilyn herself it was plump and voluptuous and creamy and spicy. The big, juicy beef dog was layered with tangy cheese sauce and a handful of jalapenos. We had fries and onion rings too. The fries were good and the rings were great! I know the shakes are great but didn't have room... Four Japanese tourists were served the Birthday Cake burger while we were there and it was fun watching them pose with it for souvenir photos and then try to eat it. When we left 1/4 of it was gone... The service was quick and super friendly. Three different people asked if we needed refills on soda. We'll be back.

While this restaurant could be a touch cleaner for my taste, this is my very FAVORITE burger in T-Town. I've been there two times with groups of 4+ and everyone in both groups was happy with the quality, service & price of the food at Patty's Burgers. The burger itself is exactly what I want in a burger - good meat, great bread, fresh toppings, which all arrived hot and delicious. The mushroom burger had great flavor and the bacon on my bacon burger was crispy and goooooood. The frosty mug my coke was served in was an added bonus! We will go there again and again.

My family wanted a good burger place to eat for dinner. We decide on mikie'S first but I guess their going through some sort of renovation so my husbend went to patty's. The burgers were great and most surprising was the fries, they were hot and crispy and had a little seasoning, they weren' t plain like alot of other burger joints. The mushroom burger I had was great, tasted like fresh mushrooms and their shakes was awesome. We will be going back to Patty's!!

We decided to go have a bite here after I read several rave reviews on this site. Let me just say that I have had SEVERAL burgers over the years and these were AWESOME! My children were perplexed as to why it was taking so long, we had to explain to them that this wasn't like a fast food place, everything is FRESH and home made so it takes longer. The wait was so worth it to! My DH and I both got the bacon cheese burger made to our requests. They were tender and juicy without being greasy. The fries were delicious as well! We all tried a bite of our middle daughters grilled cheese which was DELICIOUS! Our shakes were to die for as well, I would go back just for them, but next time I won't order a large as it's HUGE! The staff is very friendly but not pushy and they let you enjoy your meal in peace. We will frequent this place again!

The brother in law suggested this place after he came here. He could not stop telling me how good the shakes are. So the next day I went with the hubby. I had the tuna melt very modifed ( just had surgery if not it would have been a burger.) They did just as I asked. My husband had a the teriyaki burger. He said it was awesome. The shake was Ahhmazzzing!!!! Great portions for a decent price. I can not wait to bring my friends and family! Great service! Great food!

Want a burger? You know, the classic, greasy, bacon, pickle, cheese with thick fries. Basically, nothing good for you but you can't help yourself but order the double with extra cheese and bacon. Yeah, this is the place if you are in the south Tacoma area. Try it. I had a hotdog as well. They are just as good but remember, it is just a hotdog. No fancy meat here.

Fantastic!!!! The staff is always so pleasant and down to earth. They have waffle fries, which is enough said. Their hot dogs are amazing, the Monroe dog is my favorite. The cake burger is soooooo big, we didn't finish it when we had it. And the milkshakes are worth dying for, they come in tall frosted mugs, and for me that could be lunch in a drink. Caramel/Butterfinger is the best!!!! I LOVE IT HERE!!!
