This is by far my favorite Chinese restaurant in the Tacoma/Parkland area. The food has been consistently good.

Someone told me that this has been their favourite Chinese spot growing up and I knew I had to give it a try! While it's a trek from my house, it's worth it if you're seriously hankering. The portions were large, the tea was hot, and the prices reasonable. I tried the Hot Chicken (their specialty, and for a reason- absolutely delicious!), Hot & Sour soup (which was different than any other I've ever had but I loved it- the big chunks of tofu were welcome!), Beef Chow Mein (also tasty), and perfectly crispy potstickers. The servers were helpful and not overbearing and while the radio station (Kiss or something) could have been a lot better, I generally liked the odd yet somehow charming decor of the place. It reminded me of something that a scene from Drive would be filmed in...

Meh. It was ok. The actual vegetables were cooked to my liking and the food was very vibrant. Bf had the happy family and general Tsao's and he liked them. They do have a very limited menu, IMO. There are maybe 6 dishes under the "Vegetables" section of the menu and about 4 of them have pork in them. "Bean curd AND pork," "Broccoli AND pork," "Bean sprouts AND pork..." You get the idea. Now I don't know about you, but pork has always been my favorite vegetable. If you are ok with bare bones, standard, ordinary Chinese with no frills, this'll do. If you are a vegetarian or want excitement... Not the place. One good thing is that the music they play is at a very reasonable volume, not the centerpiece of my dining experience. Although the music they choose IS a little eerie, creepy, and haunting. It was also 90% vacant on a Friday night, if that's at all telling.

Food isnt good as it use to be. Was way better before the remodeling. Went for a party of 18 and lady decided to charge herself 58$ for tip when she brought out the food. Never came back and check up on us also had to ask for water. I mean i believe in tipping but to those that put forth effort plus she spilled water on my 9yr old nephew. I use to come here in the early 90s and im sad it has come to this.

I love this place! I've given them business a long time. You do have to know what to order to get a great balance of favors. My suggestion- the Lieu's Fried Rice, Chow Mein Delight, and Princess Prawns. All that for under $30 + tip. You'll have leftovers if your a couple! If you are looking for American Chinese go elsewhere- this is authentic food!

I've been to Lieu's on several occasions and found this to be some of the best Chinese food in the area. While I haven't tried all the items on the menu, I have had some amazing food here. While I've driven past Lieu's lately and noticed they've been closed for a while...I heard rumors it was for remodeling, but was told most recently that they have shut down due to the owner retiring. I loved the decor at Lieu's, the service is as expected when there's limited wait staff, but the food was definitely worth it.

Probably the worst Chinese food I've had in awhile. First off no one greeted us for almost five minutes. Then we sat at a table in the corner and it was sticky and I didn't want to touch anything on it. The table cloth looked like they hadn't washed it in years (stuck on rice and drips from food). We weren't able to order for at least twenty minutes and we were one of two couples in the restaurant. The food took almost 45 minutes to come out and I have to say it was overly salty, dripping with grease and soggy. I am a fried rice girl but I wouldn't even feed that stuff to my dog. We didn't eat much and for the price it was NOT worth it. Sorry excuse for a restaurant that I was excited to try. Will not be going back and wouldn't recommend it to anybody.

Delicious :-) the Mongolian ribs came to the table sizzling & steaming hot! We ordered the sweet& sour chicken, Kung pao chicken and veggie chow mein. The sweet & sour chicken was my favorite!

Family favorite for many years. Onion beef has always been a favorite. Hot & Sour soup is awesome on a rainy day. Great lunch specials.

My family has been dining at Lieu's since they first opened in Parkland. We absolutely love the food, fresh schezwan cuisine. They have a great affordable lunch menu. If you want the hot oil just ask for it. Also the potstickers are the best appetizers with the fresh dipping sauce. I would never go to any other Chinese restaurant, you won't be disappointed. .

Went here today. It was very good you can mix and match the dinners. The Mongolian beef could have been a little spicier but the wanton soup made up for it. Great Place.

My family has been going to Leiu's for decades. I went with my Grandmother, and she talked about how she watched the owner's children grow up. And now I guess those children are running the restaurant. It is a true family-run Tacoma staple. They have a lunch menu that has great value (before 3pm). Tea, soup, egg rolls, fried rice, chow mein, and an entree item for about $6.50. That's hard to beat at a sit down restaurant. That being said, this isn't the greatest Chinese food out there. But, it is probably the best quality and value in the area. The service is quick and friendly. The restaurant is getting a bit worn down, but has lots of character. Go see for yourself!

I went here a few years back and was not satisfied with any of the food. I believed we ordered the usual Chinese food such as beef broccoli and fried rice. What I remember is that we had more veggies in all of our dishes and searching for the proteins in all of them. If you want quality chinese food my favorite place is Hunan Garden. I would not recommend this place at all and it's a shame too because I live right down the street from it.

More authentic than most restaurants in area, best dish by far is general tsao. Needs better service and more desserts

I really like this place... Just ate here today. And have eaten here countless times in the last decade since I've moved to Tacoma. The past year was kind rough. As the owners retired. And left me out hanging. I am glad that they got bored and reopened. I know there is better out there, but this is in my hood and very convenient. Not to mention it is solid, consistent, and I am greeted like Norm from "Cheers" when I go there. The food is your average Chinese fare. Nothing really stands out but it is all usually very good. Hey when you've run a successful business for 35-40 years why change it. "It is what it is.... And what it is, is decent food at a decent price." I have to mention also is the wait staff is pleasant and professional. This family should be very proud of their legacy.

Had a nice dinner for grandpa,me. Kids and grand kids ,eight of us. Service was great. Place was quiet and mostly empty, a little weird for 545 on Friday night. They need some chili sauce on tables for those who want some spice. Mu shu pork very bland and heavy. All other good was great. We had one of the family meals and food came out quick. This was nice when having kids along.

I ordered sweet n sour pork, general tso. The meal suppose to come with soup, spring rolls, fried rice, & fortune cookie. We didn't get spring roll, they stated they are out, replaced it with one potsticker. The sweet n sour pork is ok, need more seasoning in the sauce. The general tso is good, best one on the plate & potsticker is also good. The fried rice is a lil bland, lack of seasoning.

The food came cool to warm. The chow mein and noodles were extremely oily. Like you just applied some chapstick. The sweet and sowr pork was over cooked. The pork was like jerky. On the plus side service is good. Its been 20 years since we were there last. It will be another 20 before we go back.

I've driven by this pace several times thinking it was empty because there used to be just one car out front before I realized all the parking was in the back. The lone car in front was just out of place and misleading about restaurant traffic. However the rating is for the food. I understand it used to be good. I wish it still was. The chicken fried rice was not bad, but nothing like I've had before. I'm not sure what was different about it, but it wasn't what I expected. There was a lot of cauliflower in all three meat dishes and some of it seemed nearly raw and uncooked. One of the dishes was supposed to be almond chicken, but I couldn't figure out which one when I got home...a couple of the dishes seemed really similar. The pot stickers were dry. The dishes themselves were not great. I've seen Panda put out better food. The restaurant itself needs updating, or maybe just lots of cleaning, I'm not sure. It's too bad, the location is prominent, the owner family working there are very nice, and I really wanted the food to be better.

The BBQ pork appetizer was refrigerator cold slices of pork (Costco?). Sizzling rice soup sounds good (literally, folks... the rice really does "sizzle" when dumped into the soup!) but is simply a bland marriage of what seems to be canned chicken stock, some lonely veggies and 3-4 400-600 count salad shrimps. Chow mein was mostly mein and little chow, but tolerable. Sweet & sour pork was crunchy and actually quite good! The Mongolian Beef, though, tasted a bit spoiled, appeared to have been steamed instead of fried and, instead of going into any take home container for us, we hope it was relegated to a certain other "take away" container outside the back kitchen door where it rightfully belonged. Come on, you guys in the kitchen... this stuff isn't THAT hard to make, is it? What's going on here? Overall just barely average for a place that used to really be quite good about 10 years ago. Try Tea Leaf a few blocks away which is a bit worn out and dirty at times but a better value... or the North China place on 6th Ave near the MSM Deli.

Pretty good, but for you're better off going to The Tea Leaf if you're in the area.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
