This place is pretty overrated. The worse part is the staff, mostly young people with poor customer service. I will say they have good pizza and good gyros. I have to give this place 3 stars due to the fact of all the other good Greek joints ive been to. I love calamari but tasted like it was from a box from Costco. Fish and chips are really soggy. I have been going here for years so I am pretty familar with what they got going on. I stick with the gyro, they do a pretty good job on that. If I haven't had such poor service I may have given a 4 star but they are pretty consistent about that. Try the pizza or spaghetti, those are also pretty spot on.

1 Star, and shame on you Yelp for not allowing me to give this less than the one weakest star....ever. We've given you "It's Greek to You" three different chances and we've recieved three consecutive fails...each and every time. The drive-thru service was horrible during our first visit. A busy day wasn't to blame, being we were the only customers we could see during this slow afternoon. We ordered two gyros, greek salad, and drinks to go. The "greek toast" they gave us was soaked in grease and stale. We didn't get any plastic-ware to eat our Greek Salads to go, so we had to wait for our return home to attempt the wilted excuse of a salad. Avoid this poor attempt to serve Greek food to the Tacoma's North End.

I came back here after being away from Tacoma for five years. It's Greek to Me was a place I took a date and had an awesome time, but it was probably more the girl than the food. In my return trips, it's always been consistent. Food is decent and a gyro costs around $6 - no biggie. I bought mine and then took it with me to Seattle where I ate it in a drunken tizzy about 8 hours later (having warmed it up in the toaster oven). It's not a bad place, but it's fast food. But oh so yummy fast food! And if you're really fat and lazy, you can do the drive through.

Every time I have been here, it's been everything I hoped it'd be. Delicious! I usually get the original gyro along with a side of their lemon chicken soup. They're always friendly and I typically call my order in, in advance, so I don't need to wait.

Oddly enough, they have my favorite pizza in Tacoma. Great greek food but the pizza (small size) sets them apart.

Ate here and the other place down the street. I have to say this is my 2nd choice when it comes to a gyro for lunch. Read a couple of previous reviews regarding the fries, gyros, etc. Thought I'd give it a try. Not impressed. Costs about $12 for lunch. Got a greek salad, piece of bread, beef/lamb gyro, and small order of fries with a drink. fries were beer battered or something. I'm not a fan. I enjoy my fries, plain, simply cut from potatoes, some salt and pepper. no extras. they didn't give me a ketchup with my fries either. the gyro was good size, had a tasty combination of flavors, but I still give legendz a leg up. tricky parking lot and drive through, as they're kind of in the middle of the road. you'll get it when you see it.

Okay for all you haters out there this is among my favorite Greek places of all time. I know I shouldn't say that, but come on. They are greasy, not on their Gyros, but on their Greek fries with Feta. The Gyros have and incredible sauce. Fries are suppose to be greasy. That isn't the point. This place is fast food but ironically all about good flavor profiles. I choose this Greek over a meal 3x as expensive in places like Greektown Detroit, Chicago, and NY. Well okay those places have better but this is GOOD. I am secretly pissed this places is 3.5 stars. I would take it with me to wherever I move. My dream is a top notch Thai, this Place, McKenzie River Pizza, and a sandwich shop within 6 blocks of my place...

This place is a staple when I'm hungry and don't want to cook. They gyros are STUFFED with meat...I can easily just eat half and be full. Try the greek fry's with feta...super yummy. I haven't tried much beyond the gyros and fries...and I've been lucky...it's never teens when I drive through--the managers who work there actually live in my building and they always happen to be working there when I stop by, so i've always had great service!

  • Bobo J.

This place is tiny, and I passed by a million times until a friend suggested we grab a quick bite to eat there. OMG, it was so good! Why do I ever get fast food when I can eat falafel for the same price and convenience? There are only like three tables inside (most people getting takeout), but it was delicious and affordable. I'll definitely be back.

    (4)
  • Kim C.

As always, a quick service and delicious food. Great for the value, love their gyros and fries.

    (5)
  • Casey J.

Really great gyros. Sometimes the food is inconsistent though.

I've driven by a million times, and their drive through is always packed at lunch time. I was getting an oil change nearby, and thought I would check it out. I was pretty disappointed, overall. The first thing I noticed was that the drive through always SEEMS packed, because it's oriented very strangely, and there's not a lot of room to be in line- If you're about the 4th car in line, you're in the street, and anybody behind you will be lining up wrapping around the block. The next thing I noticed, was that the place is pretty expensive for a lunchtime drive through. However, the portions were pretty hefty. That would be cool if the food were better, but it was just barely OK. We tried their gyro and the hummous plate. The gyro was good, the potatoes were weird and super greasy. The hummous plate was just a joke- a smallish serving of bland hummous with a couple cucumber slices, two (yes TWO!) kalamata olives, a pepperoncini, and a couple of cherry tomatoes, served with a few pita wedges. The pepperoncinis and cucumbers seemed to have left a puddle of water on top of the hummous, and for $8.00, it definitely should have been better. To sum up: lamb gyro was pretty ok, hummous plate was way overpriced and bad. I might try something else there someday, but only if nothing else is open. The staff were all nice people.

I ate at It's Greek to Me and afterwards I falafel. Dirty little Greek fast food restaurant with outdoor seating at the tippy-top western-most point of Tacoma's Wedge Neighborhood; the back door is usually open and you can see in the kitchen area from the street and the place is filthy. Very young staff. Could be so much better. Does have a a drive-thru window!

    (2)
  • Tammy K.

The gyro was pretty good I must say, but the thing I freaked out about were the greek potatoes! OMG! Not sure, but I think there was some smoked paprika in there? Anyone? I dunno but those things were falling apart, toothsome deliciousness. I couldn't come close to finishing the portion they gave me. The place is tiny, but the guys working there were really nice - sat outside because it was sweltering inside (inside meaning two tiny tables). Not bad, but I can't give them a 5 because they serve french fries.....it's a peeve of mine.

  • Ted P.

Drive through? More like 'drive past' -- don't stop. Really. Okay, maybe that's a bit harsh... The food wasn't good (really is this the best, quick, Greek T-town can muster?). The service was verging on incompetent and scary... and the place was dirty enough that we kinda regretted walking in.... but we were missing Greek Town back in Chicago, so we had to scratch that itch. It didn't kill us. It didn't make us stronger. It didn't make us sick.... so, I guess 2 stars it is.

    (2)
  • Joseph L.

It's quick and convenient. Not a bad gyro. Has a drive through so you can get food quickly on the go. I'd probably go again, just not too often. Five stars for convenience for quick pretty good food on the go. Way better than most fast food.

    (3)
  • Nancy C.

I used to eat here every once in a while and decided to get some quick greek to go when I ran an errand to Tacoma. Boy, was I disappointed! It was way to expensive it for what I got: a gyro and a small hummas/pita was almost $16!! The veggies where horrible (you could taste the chemicals in the hard tomatoes and the onions were so pungent I removed them all). The hummas had the texture of sand and a funky aftertaste. The only thing that was good was the pita. I will definitely not be going back. Even the kids wouldn't eat it and they love greek food.

Tasty food but the place doesn't look too clean. It's ok.

We like It's Greek To Me. Lately it's our best go-to take-out place. The pizza is wonderful. We devour the cheese and garlic one even though we reek afterwards. The sandwiches are all great and the tzatziki is creamy-riffic! We tried it once a long time ago and thought the glue-sniffers making the food were shifty and it took a long time but lately the help are alert and speedy and we haven't waited longer than 5 minutes for our bags (which haven't been dripping with grease either!) I think things have looked up since some of these reviews were written...

  • Angelina Z.

I give this place 4 stars because , they have a DRIVE THRU! Getting Moussaka dinner without getting of the car ........ PRICELESS, well actually around $14 Anyway , I agree with Benjamin about the service. I distinctly ordered a Moussaka dinner , and asked what it came with, they said potatoes, garlic bread, green beans and salad............. I drove off happy and content with my bag of hot smelling goodness, got home and had one slice of Moussaka which I waited 20 minutes in my car for ! I also agree about the fries, they are perfect. The Gyros are good because they are convenient but they are not the best I've ever had in my life.

  • Preston B.

This is better than Johnnie's Greek on Bridgeport. This place is consistently better, I think. Not the greatest, but better than any Greek place in Tacoma for quick food.

  • Chelsea N.

Did I mention? BEST. FALAFEL. EVER.

  • Bri D.

I do not like Greek food but the husband swears by this place and we were hungry after catching the baseball game. I figured I would be able to find something to my liking here without having to venture too far into the Greek realm. Luckily I got myself a corn dog, a side of fries, and a chocolate covered baklava. I kid you not, I had the best corn dog ever here. Better even than state fair corn dogs. It was really thick and had a great taste and the batter was fantastic. It seriously made my day eating that corn dog. Their fries here are delicious. They're piping hot and crispy. Now, I don't know what baklava is, and I don't pretend to. The thing I got was a triangular mound of chocolate with some weird nutty cinnamony filling. I didn't like it and it is incredibly rich. I hear that this place has a killer lamb gyro though, so you should check it out.

  • Stephanie K.

I've only ordered food through the drive thru!! Yes, the gyros are gooood! But the pizza is BETTER! Yes, it's true. Make sure you order it ahead of time though, it takes a little while! Just call ahead. ;) It IS GGGOOOODDDD pizza! I liken it to Pizza Hut but FFFFFFAAAAAAARRRRRR better!! It's super greasy but sooooo delicious, the crust has a slight tart kick to it!! Don't order mushroom on pizza (it's canned!). Go for the pepperoni! You won't be disappointed! Spaghetti is pretty good too... JUMBO sized garlic bread though. YUM. Be sure to watch the bag... it usually drips and can be quite messy! :(

  • Diego S.

not a bad place to eat if you are on the go, food isn't too bad. I've eaten here quite a few times, used to live in the area and wanted something different

    (3)
  • Sean B.

Fast food gyros are OK, but there are better options on 6th (MSM deli).

    (2)
  • John P.

This place has some AMAZING Greek food! The ambiance is very clean and simple, the menu is very extensive, and the authenticity of the food is straight from Greece! Agape!

  • Sean B.

Knowing some of the people who have or have worked at IGTM I can no longer eat here. HOWEVER, they have amazing pizza, french fries, and gyros. It's all super tasty. Super slow. Super tasty still.

    (4)
  • Chuck L.

This is the best place to grab a quick Gyro. But DON'T eat in the restaurant unless you want to smell like grease all day.

  • pongo p.

used to go there for vegetarian food but learned they cook stuff in lard :(

    (1)
  • Molly C.

I have been eating here for a long time and have always enjoyed their pizza (how do they get the bottom of the crust so crunchy!?!?) and gyros, but lately I feel like the gyros have slipped in quality. The tzaziki sauce tastes different--like it was poured out of a tub instead of homemade. Still not bad enough to keep me away, though.

    (3)
  • Samantha L.

I love the pizza and Gyros here. The pasta dishes are also very good. The service is a little hit or miss. Depending on who's taking orders it can be really friendly or not at all. The only thing I didn't like here is the Dolmades (stuffed grape leaves) which made me sad because my mom use to make these all the time when we had access to fresh grape leaves. Overall I like this place.

  • Patricia N.

Food is pretty authentic and very good. The personnel are awesome and friendly. Cute little place with the front of the restaurant facing away from the busy street. Very cozy.

  • Riff L.

Had the greek fries, not really what i was expecting. Fries layered with cheese and feta with spice. Didnt even have a hint of garlic to it...dissapointed. Gyro Zone in UP does the best greek fries in Tacoma. This is some pathetic form of greek fries or fries with a bunch of cheese..hey at least across the street you can get carne asada fries a form of fries and cheese much more appetizing. Oh plus the the old lady that drives the camaro (either management or owner) didnt even greet or acknowledgement my present. Just counting the money in front of me..i guess i bother her. Anyways dont plan to go there again, not so great food with rude service.

damn! i gave it one more shot, even though we stopped going for a reason. i tried to just get a salad with chicken, to just avoid the gyro meat all together. we just threw the whole thing away. the chicken was so over cooked, i couldn't even chew a small piece of it, i don't know how it was cooked. i think it was microwaved, not grilled. and the lettuce had brown pieces too. it's so sad, we used to go here a long long time ago, and get great fish n chips... wasted $30, for the last time.

  • Lesley Allison W.

Gross. OverFRIED. In old grease I'm sure. Will never try here again. I was excited too try it even though for the sandwich and small fry was 10 bucks. Minor even sure this place knows what Falafel is based on this representation.

  • Yamickco H.

Used to be really good but since they change to the new building I guess the service and quality of food is seriously decline. I work right up the street at Tacoma General Hospital and this was always our go to spot although I guess I could speak truthfully and say that their gyro is not as good as it used to be. I haven't tried anything else on their menu recently but who knows I'll probably try to go again in another few months just to see if it's changed any, because I've been going there for so long. Other than that the place looks really good it's a much larger space and cosmetically very pleasing to the eye.

  • Hope B.

I don't know what other Yelpers are smoking when they say this place is good. I ordered simple falafels with tzaziki sauce and fries. When I got it, I could have cried. What the hell is this greasy rectangle your plopped in front of me? I don't know how much chick pea there was in this log but it wasn't enough. There was perhaps some garlic? I don't know cuz all I tasted was the grease. The tzatziki sauce was bland. The fries were good though. Next time I want falafels, I'm going to the Nineveh Assyrian food truck in Olympia.

Staring at a 50" flat screen TV of famous Greek landmarks throughput your meal really makes you feel like you're sitting in the middle of Athens enjoying a big fat gyro until you look around the corner and see memos Mexican food restaurant.

    (5)
  • Mad M.

Its a greek restaurant so ordering anything that was not greek food was a mistake. Gyro good, Lamb souvlaki good. Spaghetti and meatballs mediocre. choose your food wisely

    (3)
  • Sha P.

Love the gyro here. The meat is perfectly seasoned. Spaghetti here is also amazing. Fish and chips can feed a hungry little ol me.

    (3)
  • Valerie M.

I love this place! I come from Greek heritage so I know good Greek food and this place has it. The Gyros are the best in the city! The people have always treated me well and I will go back again and again. The new location which is across the street from the old one is so nice!

    (5)
  • Joy M.

Very pricy if you don't get pizza or gyros. I ordered hummus with extra veggies instead of pita. Got a few olives and a few slices of vegetable. Very disappointed. Interior was a bit dirty as well, enough to make me not want to return.

    (3)
  • Paula H.

YUM! Simply Love their food! The fries "ROCK"... They also have a large room if you want to bring in a big group or have a party.. The food is consistently GREAT!

    (5)
  • Jenny H.

certainly a friendly joint, certainly tasty, but is pretty average in terms of fast greek food. ingredients have come and gone for me when i order gyros, meaning sometimes i get tomatoes, sometimes i don't. i also wish that the tzasiki sauce had a tad more flavor. As said, while this place won't knock your socks off, it will satiate the craving. side note: their online menu needs to be updated. it is more expansive than what they actually offer. too bad because there's nothing like a pile of greek roasted potatoes.

    (3)
  • Jim G.

I love this place! It's been hard to find Greek food, but my family makes the drive from Olympia every other week. Even in there new space, it feels small and quaint. But hold on...they have a separate banquet room that provides extra seating when needed. During the warm weather they can open up the entire front lobby that provides indoor seating and then is converted and extended outdoors. Awesome! We recommend the Roma pizza. Always order the large so you have some to take home.

Oh, my lord. What a hilariously bad experience. Last night, we had dinner here with my boyfriend's family and were shocked at the level of food and service. This. Is. Not. Greek. Food. My family is part Greek and we eat quite a bit of Greek food. I remember there was a time when we loved picking up some dinner from here. That time has passed. It has passed so hard. To start with, I asked if they use wheat flour when making their falafel. One of the employees had to check the "ingredients list" on the label of the package. Yum. Premade falafel. Yes: it contains wheat flour. I saw that they were selling wine by the glass, so I ordered a glass of red. The employee didn't know the difference between red and white wine. She kept holding up different bottles (red, white, and rosé) to ask me which one was red. When it became apparent that the only red wine they had was a bottle that had been sitting under the counter with a cork floating in it, I went with some white wine. Which she had to open and needed to get someone to help her. Oh man. The sampler platter is laughably huge and... Less humorously.... Terrible. The moussaka was not made that day, with some sad red sauce. The green beans were canned. The dolmathes were hard with some thick, solidified sauce on them. The lemon soup was gross. The spanakopita tasted reheated and chewy (not crisp and crunchy). The gyro meat was fine. The rice pilaf was not good. Everything was covered with a snowy dusting of Parmesan cheese. As if that would help. Bottom line: this food was old, reheated, and stale. My boyfriend had to repeatedly go back to the counter because they forgot things. They would deliberately ignore him, and then get snippy when he pointed out that we were missing some food. "Ya. You have another plate coming." How were we to know? You never said anything about it. Don't waste your time or money on this crappy food.

    (1)
  • Matt W.

The food is excellent. The service is not. I've walked into this location and been ignored (not talked to by anybody on staff) more than once for over 10 minutes each time. Once you can put an order in and get your food it is superb in quality. It seems that they focus on the drive thru and not the customers in the store which is annoying for people that walk in. Decently clean and adequate facilities but they need to work on their customer service skills and communication.

    (3)
  • Reilly B.

They have great gyros! I always get the lamb gyro...lots of well seasoned meat on a warm fluffy pita with a creamy mild tzatziki sauce. Make sure you get a fork to eat the greek salad that falls out of the pita! I hear the fries are great too but i haven't tried them because the gyro is more than a meal on its own! The pizza is fantastic! Thick fluffy crust with cheese and toppings to the very edge....and crusty melty cheese around the entire outside...so good!!

    (4)
  • Bridgett S.

Great place to come if you want a home style meal that your Greek grandma would make you. If she is a good cook that is

    (5)
  • Alisha B.

This place is consistently fantastic with their quick service and delicious food! The French fries are to die for and the gyro never disappoints. If you're craving comfort food, this is your spot.

    (4)
  • Allen B.

If someone has an authenticity issue with this IGTM, then I've got a message for these self-proclaimed "experts". If you're from Greece or have visited, then go back and stay. If not, then shut your spanakopita hole. Even if some consider it "americanized" I say, across the board, you won't find better greek food anywhere around this area. The gyros are loaded with tender, perfectly spiced lamb/beef. The tzatziki is a great complimental condiment. The pita bread is like a warm, fluffy pillow. The pizza is hard to beat, too, and the spaghetti sauce is distinctly flavorful and rich. The prices on some items are little steep for what amounts to be self-service but still worth the cost based on flavor alone.

I went to Greece once. It was fun, fantastic, and thrilling. Then I came to this restaurant. It was like someone used a digital compression algorithm to fit Greece in a garage. That's a bigger compliment than it may seem at the surface level. The tip of the iceberg lettuce, so to speak. Lets get something out in the air--I love Middle Eastern food. Shwarma, tahini, hummus, falafel, you name it. I see Greek food as a universal Taco Bell of Middle Eastern food, making it crude and low quality. Bottom line: I can be a big time asshole about Greek food when we get down to the culinary philosophy of it all. But all bias aside... This place is noteworthy for three things: friendly employees, a make yourself at home atmosphere, and fast and filling food. The drawbacks of the food are just a Greek thing, no fault of the restaurant--so really they are awesome. Super filling, delicious meat, with a great serving size for your money. And they have a drive through--legend has it, it's the first ever conceived of drive through Greek restaurant in the contiguous 48 states and western Canada (Quebec might hold the North American record, it's still being debated in some Francophone foodie circles). The interior of this place has echoes of ancient grandeur. The original Greek art on the walls, stolen from the Victoria and Albert Museum of London in the late 1970s, has found a de facto home in this comfortable garage. The TV screens usually seem to be looping live helicopter footage from Greece, making sure customers get a real sense of the faraway land rather than having a shitty experience eating Greek food in mundane Tacoma. Not that I don't love Tacoma, but I like views of Olympus while I stuff gyros into my flap hole. The window garage door effect is unique and makes for a well lit, serene experience when it's windy or rainy outside and you have to sit inside. The chairs are also really sturdy--I'm suspecting some Ron Swanson woodwork techniques are involved. Overall, this is the only Greek joint in town I'll go to. If I go to another one, it'll be for the sole purpose of leaving a scathing review of all Greek food world wide. Get yo Greek on Tacoma. And also, mention to the employees that they should host a monthly toga party orgy with ouzo.

  • Kristy S.

I went here for a gyro one day and got the lunch special. It was a gyro with a side of "overly browned potatoes". The gyro was great, but the potatoes were just mushy red diced potatoes. I'm not sure why they advertise them as "overly brown", but whatever. The food came out fast, but the woman working the drive-thru looked like someone that wanted to murder people and she wasn't very friendly.

    (3)
  • Alden C.

It's Greek To Me is a solid Greek restaurant in Tacoma. Yet it does not have the spicy verve and panache I have grown accustomed to with Greek food. The gyro I got was tasty enough but was standard fare as far as gyros go. I got french fries too which just came off the fryer. Those were good! Nothing like having fresh french fries! I was not totally bowled over with this place but the service was friendly and as I already said was solid. ....But I am looking for something a bit more authentic.

  • Anthony L.

I'm hooked! The Chicken, Bacon, and Honey Mustard Gyro has definitely captured my attention and a regular selection on the menu. Get the #3 combo with gyro, small salad, and drink for $10.50 which is more than reasonable considering the amount of food you get. I'm never left hungry afterward. The new location, across the street on 6th from the old one, is extremely nice. The roll up garage door with indoor/outdoor seating on those nice sunny days is definitely a treat. The parking lot in the back is small and tight, but you can also park along the street with a very short walk. The drive through works well and I've done that a couple times. Service can be spotty, but the food is very consistent which keeps me coming back.

    (4)
  • Jimmy W.

The decors are very beautiful but the food just didn't pass my taste test since I expect the gamy taste of a true Lamb/beef mixture of Greek Gyros (I used to live in Chicago and had a Greek friend so I am spoiled) but I believe it is spiced based on the taste that would be tolerable to Americans. Greek salad is decent but it is something that I feel like I can buy at a typical store instead of a true signature restaurant. It is a cool place to take a date with all the outdoor seating with the view of many beautiful videos that are being shown and some setting reminds me of a typical Greek Isles in a typical Sunny day that is extremely rare in Washington.

  • Scrub M.

Ordered the Greek for two... Great choice but did not expect the sheer amount of food to be put on the table. Favorite bit was the Mousaka but the entire plate(s) were delicious. Pretty sure you could feed four with the Greek for two!

  • Amber W.

Me and my boyfriend have come here the past two years for new years eve before we head into work. Delicious food and friendly service. Would eat here more often but we don't normally get into this area. Best Greek food.

    (5)
  • Tim S.

Food was great and service was friendly. The videos of Greece were also a nice touch. Only thing I wish they had was Pork. Would def go back!

This is my favorite place to get gyros :) I have had the pizza and it's great too!! I highly recommend this place

    (5)
  • Lehua S.

I love the falafel sandwich! It always tastes so fresh! And it's pretty big.. So ya know.. It's awesome. I have only gone through the drive through but they have a cute place to eat in the back. But there's not really a sign so no one is ever back there. Take a chance and be the one person that sits down to eat! Ill probably see you because the drive through is literally right next to the dining area..

    (4)
  • Marcus C.

I haven't tasted all of the Pizza in Pierce County, but out of the pizza I have tasted, this is the best so far. Delicious, fresh ingredients. Their Gyros are the second best I've tasted, but they are very good and plentiful. I give the pizza 5 stars and the Gyros 4 stars.

    (4)
  • Mindy S.

Good food, but TERRIBLE customer service!!!! Been there a couple times, they are very snooty. Sometimes I crave for a gyro but avoid this place because of the poor service.

This review is much ado about nothing. So we needed lunch. We headed towards Gateway to India buffet, but collectively decided we werent feeling Indian. Next stop MSM. We waited in line for about 5 minutes, We would have called ahead but it was a spontaneous decision (MSM cannot be a sponantaeous decision unless you have LOTS of time on your hands; call ahead if possible). We watched them cut delicious gyro meat from the spit while we waited. Lightbulb! We can get gyros right down the street without a wait! We ventured on to It's Greek to Me. The old location is closed, which I knew, so I told my BF it was on the right past Southern Kitchen. He saw a sign on the building saying coming soon. What? I was sure it was open. We took a right on Grant St (first available right) because we were confused. Cue hallelujah music. Indeed, it was open and it had all new parking and seating. It was beautiful. Tip to owners...remove "coming soon sign on 6th ave facade"; you're open. Sign would be better if it told patrons to take a right on Grant St. I feel sorry for the folks that own the very nice home on the adjoining lot on Grant St.! But let's move on. So lots of tables outside. Nice on a sunny day like today. Big garage door for open air indoor dining; see pics. New location is great. If the garage door is closed there's a blue "man door" to enter through. It says Welcome. Same overhead menu as before which doesnt tell you much. Grab a paper take out menu-which i will post soon- to get the real available choices We both chose the same, Lamb/beef gyro with two waters. Price was about $13.00 I think they are $5.99 each. The cashier disappeared for a long time to gather our water cups. She asked another employee where the little water cups were. He said they were out so we got small soda cups for water which was nice although beverages are self serve so have as much as you like. I requested extra sauce on my gyro. When it was delivered, promptly, I asked the waitress which had extra sauce; she didnt know. :(. We guessed, and i think we guessed correctly. I didn't detect any feta, so that was a huge disappointment. I dont think they offer feta?? No feta really? Also, it was served open with a fork. Hello, this sandwich is meant to be held. When held, all the onions and tomatoes fell away. And the meat wasn't laid properly. HUGEly meatty in the middle, no meatty on the ends. My BF and I rated it about a 6 of 10 on the taste scale. I thought the meat lacked flavor, he thought the sauce was lacking. Where's the feta? Overall ,new location is good. Sorry to the neighbor. Step up the meat and sauce flavor and drop some feta on us...pah.leeeze. Also, no one wants to see pictures of Greece on your nice HD screens. How bout you drop something relevant on those expensive devices like NCAA finals ( not that I'm a fan, but no one cares about stills of the Parthenon).

This review is for catering. We went to a wedding that It's Greek to me catered. It was the best food I have had at a wedding that I can remember. There were several types of salad. Fruit and veggie plate, of course. Some pitas with different dips. For main courses, they had salmon, stuffed chicken breast, mushroom ravioli with a cream sauce, and a flaky pastry with cheese inside. The food was hot and staff friendly. We were at the end of the line and there was still plenty of food. it didn't look like we were getting the last of everything in the pan. I am sure people went back for seconds. I would call them if I have an event to cater in the future!

Sadly, the quality has gone down hill. Fries were mushy and not very warm, gyro was just OK. It seemed that the teenagers behind the counter didn't take any pride in their work. Every time I go, I get really excited to experience a restaurant that I loved in my college days, and every time I leave I'm just more disappointed in the quality of the food. It's really too bad, this place is an institution/must-go in Tacoma.

For what this place is, 4 stars is appropriate. The gyros are really, really good. Fresh chewy pita bread, generous portions of meat and if you ask for feta, you will get lots of feta. We also tried the Greek fries which were really tasty. In general the fries are excellent as well. We really like that you can sit outside on a nice day and enjoy your food. Fair prices for the amount of food you get. We will be back!!

LOVE the new venue! Went right after they opened and we could actually walk side by side up to the counter and sit at our table without sharing a seat. It could be me but the food seems more delicious with the extra room. I am looking forward to visiting this Summer when they have the wall opened up. This is my favorite place to eat in Tacoma!!

It's Hummus to Me. That's my pet name for this restaurant, which carries mostly foods that don't appeal to me. There's just too much grease, treated meat and other fatty offerings, such as pizzas. That said, the one thing I do get is fantastic: the hummus sandwich. It consists of fresh hummus, rolled pita bread, tzatziki, onions, lettuce, tomato and green peppers. The results are so messy that they're best eaten with a knife and fork, and that's a compliment. I've stopped here maybe 60 times on the way to work and have never had an issue with the service. I've always been in my car, for what that's worth. I'm very interested to see what changes when It's Greek to Me moves to a location across the street, right behind Southern Kitchen. Perhaps the offerings/freshness will improve. That move is set to happen in the next few months (this was written in November 2012).

IGTM is such a great restaurant. The best Greek food around! The staff is awesome - always friendly. I haven't had a bad experience yet.

My first time to the new location this evening and very disappointed. The young lady at the counter (long dark hair with blue streaks in pony tail) was very rude and condescending. This restaurant needs to have help that greets customers not snap back when a customer asks questions. I will not return due to the attitude by this very unpleasant staff member. There are too many restaurants that provide great food and service in T-town!

The food is a bit on the greasy side. Granted it's not like this place is selling a Lean Cuisine menu, but still. Easy on the oils am I right? Staff is friendly even while busy. I think this is a reliable place for Greek grub in the Tacoma area.

AMAZING pizza! I've been here quite a few times and always get their pizza because it's oh so good! I still want to try their spaghetti, but it's hard to go and not get the pizza...maybe one day!

Too be honest, I haven't eaten at many other Greek restaurants, so I can't really compare. I have been coming here since the first location was opened just across the street.. Usually I get the falalel gyro with extra Tzatziki sauce. It's always good, as is the spanokipita. My husband often gets the mousaka and he really likes it. They have large portions. I like the new restaurant, and the small sitting area, but it was chilly when we last ate inside.

A better experience this time had bacon and egg breakfast gyro, she had the veggie we traded a few items and added the gyro sauce that made it the best breakfast ever

Literally the best pizza I've ever had!! Always begging the fiance to go here for dinner, I can't get enough of their food but I know he's used to it since he's from the area. I'm addicted!

Good gyro. Large an good sauce. Fries are have a tater tot feel which is good. Sitting outside is great but probably not so much inside where it is loud and congested. Not cheap but worth the money.

This place has been a gem but when original owner Johnnie left many many years ago its been okay. The gyros are good but nothing I would drive to crave for. The service is non existent so if you want greek on the go and non authentic greek is no biggie come on over.

I wanted to take my girlfriend some place Greek so she could experience it for the first time, after reading the reviews I was hesitant to say the least. Kevin and Kyle were working and treated us like family through the door. The food was great the atmosphere was very relaxed and to spite it seeming fast food in nature we were promptly cared for in whatever we needed. The only con I had with the place was it was cold (however the gentleman behind the counter allowed me to shut the door) and I'm guessing with their upcoming location switch that will be remedied. Good food, great price, nice night out. Go for the Greek fries, they're amazing.

I try Gyros everywhere. So far this is second worst Greek place, but someone who doesn't know better might think its great. Uh...no. parking is horrible and small especially if you drive a longer vehicle. The drive-thru if its busy blocks the entrance to parking spots. Upon ordering, they dont ask if you want Feta. I didnt know as a first timer here. So I asked for it and they charge .55 cents which is fine, but then you have to find a way to sprinkle it on your food after the fact and it's messy. I'm not a slob eater. They use cheap iceberg lettuce, most likely hothouse diced tomato and onions virtually tasteless. The tzatziki was average, and they had the beef/lamb combo which was sufficient but not great. However they do offer chicken as an alternative but I would wonder if it's mystery chicken or real chicken breast meat. This is the same place that offers 'pizza' and has a meatball and spaghetti all you can eat night? I dont know about that. Inside this establishment where you can dine in is not clean. A mop might be in order and a new paint job. The place is small so 1 gallon should be enough. The outside seating area is the only decent thing about this I try Gyros everywhere and have zero intentions of returning here.

I stopped in here for lunch and had the gyros small meal option. It comes with a sandwich, fries and a drink. The total came to around $10.50 or so. I was disappointed by the gyros. It was O.K., but I was expecting more. The dining area is small and has two very nice large plasma T.V.'s that show pictures of Greece. What is up with that? Who wants to watch a large screen picture frame? How about some television action to occupy the lunch crowd? In any event, I left and later realized about an hour later that my newly laundered Docker's had ketchup on the side and on the bottom of my pants. This was from ketchup that I apparently unwittingly sat in or brushed up against the wall of the seat in which I had sat. This tells me that this place is dirty. I won't be back.

    (2)
  • Meaghan B.

Holy crap, Tacoma. Is this what happens when I leave for half a decade? The tzatziki I make at home is now considerably better and I think you last cleaned the fryers when I was previously in town. Yikes! You'd be better off at Pita Pit, and that's saying something.

    (2)
  • Heather S.

Love their gyros, souvlaki, and spanakopita! Moussaka and baklava also amazing! Staff is really nice. Wish avgolemono soup had been better - it was really watery and I've been afraid to order it again. But still, awesome place. A T-Town favorite!

Have you tried their lattes? The beans come from Chase Coffee and they give a percentage back to Uganda where the beans are grown. It is now my FAVORITE latte place!

What a disappointment. I went to the restaurant this evening for the spaghetti with mizithra and received something totally different from what i ordered in April. When I went back to the counter to inquire why the dish was more like spaghetti with alfredo the employees all denied that the dish was anything but the mizithra with cheese and that if i wanted the bacon and mushrooms i should have ordered it that way and it was $2 extra. What? no, there were noodles swimming in nasty white sauce, not semi-dry like spaghetti with mitzithra is suppose to be. They just ignored me as if i would just disappear and deal with it. I went back to the counter and showed them the picture i had taken in April and they all said it was the same thing just without the bacon and mushrooms except that sometimes it changes with whatever chef is on duty. Really? so one day you order spaghetti with mizithra and get what you think you should and another day you order it and receive spaghetti with alfredo? no way, I took the dish back up to the counter and said i would prefer a refund. The counter person said "oh sure, you eat half the dish and then ask for a refund". No, I put most of it in a to go container thinking maybe i was mistaken however, my daughter confirmed it wasnt the same. i gave that back to them as well. I don't eat alfredo sauce ever. i have never been treated that way before as a paying customer. i will not go back again, and the real annoying thing is I recommended this place to friends, and co-workers, and raved about it on facebook. never again. i did get a refund though so that's about the only good thing that happened. My advice to Greek: be nicer to your customers, especially if they complain and show you evidence, (photos), that you are trying to pass off something that isnt even what you intended it to be because you have a different chef today. I should have taken a photo of the spaghetti with alfredo so there was evidence of how ridiculous this was.

I've tried the gyro in the past and I thought it was decent but not great (except for the size). When they opened their new location across the street I thought I would check it out. The new space is much bigger and nicer with outside seating. I like Falafels and thought I would compare to others I've had in Tacoma. Honestly, it was the worst Falafel I've ever had. The chickpeas were flavorless and so so dry. It tasted like I was eating croutons or dry hard toast. The pita was big and soft. I've had better Tatziki sauce. Overall, very dissatisfied. Not sure if I'll give them another try again.

This is one of my favorite lunch spots. Fast service. Delicious food. I try and get the same thing other Greek places and it always is a let down (even in Chicago!!). Definitely a place to check out.

I guess as long as you don't come here close to closing they are pretty nice. The same girl that was short, and kinda rude to us a while back took our order, and was much nicer. Everyone has bad days, and I don't think that she even realized how rude she came off last time. The food as always hit the spot. It looks like they might be moving across the street, I can't wait to see them at their new place, and I hope that the new place has beter air flow. I do worry about parking at their new place. I wonder how that will work, and if they'll still have a drive-thru?

  • Michael K.

The plusses: This place is snack heaven. The calamarakia (calamari) is delicious and huge, and comes with a ton of their delicious fries as well. It isn't healthy and it isn't gourmet, but it is a fantastic drunken snack and right on 6th Ave. The same can be said for their Greek Fries and their Spanakopita. It's all fantastically fried and delicious and full of garlicly goodness. Yum yum yum. The minus - I had a gyro here once. Um... I dunno, just don't. Like I said, they do some things really well, but the lamb tasted like my cat's premium food smells, which just didn't really do it for me. I may be spoiled having had gyros prepared by a Greek grandma many times growing up, but, well... Just get the appetizers. Forgot to mention - The chicken with spinach and feta was very good. Again, it isn't quite gourmet, but I really think they do the feta and spinach dishes well here, which is surprising considering how fast your food is coming out, and how fairly priced everything is. Probably closer to a 4 star place, just mildly disappointed that the one thing I truly associate with greek is their weakest point.

    (3)
  • Douglas K.

What huge portions! Gyro's were awesome and greek salad was great. They are at a busy little location and there isn't much room to eat inside, so go on a beautiful day and enjoy the food on their patio or go through their drive-thru and get it to go.

  • Ronaldo P.

Disappointed stop last night. The best thing here are the spaces inside and out, although the friends garden pizza I tried was tasty. BUT... The advertised calamari steak with aioli was not steak and they had no aioli, it was just the usual rings everybody serves and the batter was not special and the dish was overcooked. AND... The Garlic Toast was uninspiring, mostly air. We experienced the same lack of training on the wine available by the glass as another reviewer has already noted. The one star is for the Greek side salad which was fresh and had the right stuff. Finally, I gave a star for being able to seat our large party comfortably and for the large screen display of Greek scenes--lovely. Service was such that on that score I would not return, especially as the food was so uninspired. Hope their gyro is dynamite or I would suggest they close/sell the place before they are forced to do that.

Consistently good food at a fair price. Actually, i usually can turn one of their meals into two, with their very generous helpings. Love the new location. Altogether a good experience.

When I want quick drive through food. I like to go here. It's not authentic, sit down, but almost pretty good street food. I like the lamb gyros and even their spaghetti with lamb added.

  • Anthony W.

Great food, generally friendly staff, I can't wait until they open up across the street. I always get the fish sandwich when I am there and my girlfriend gets the Greek salad. 9/10 times we are very happy and satisfied. Food quality is inconsistent and certain customer service staff can be very rude but it's still good enough to keep us coming back 1-2 times a month.

I love this place! I give it four stars though based mainly on their location. It's kind of a weird spot and their restaurant is small, especially if you want to eat inside and it's raining. During the summer it's not so bad as you can eat outside. It's also pretty much in the middle of the traffic and can be a pain in the ass to try and leave if it's rush hour. Other than the location though, the food is AMAZING! I always find that they give you a lot, portion wise, compared to other greek restraurants and they are still an insanely good place to go. Their service is quick and a lot of people that work there are college/high school students, so I usually throw a few bucks tip. They have always been courteous to me there and service is quick.

In town visiting family, heard they had some good gryos in town. Decided to try this place. Excellent gryos, not the best I've ever had, but not the worst by far. The meat is sliced not shaved so it is generous portions, could have used a little more sauce, and stuffed into the pita than just laid on it. But nice meat to veg ratio though. I would have it again no doubt. Oh and the fries were on point.

Extremely poor service marked our last outing to It's Greek to Me. The owners need to put an adult in charge of the high schoolers here - somehow, instead of hiring teens who enjoy making food they hired a bunch that just enjoy being on the make. Very mediocre food and the sides are messed up. Pilaf that tastes like they took it out of soup, avgolemono soup that is watery, crap spaghetti. I forgive crap when its cheap. This is not cheap. It's average prices for below average food: gyros - $6, hummus plate $8, calamari appetizer $11 and daily specials run close to $9. A slice o' pizza's $3. I can sit down in Costas in Seattle or Johnnie's Greek in Lakewood, maybe pay a tiny bit more and get something much, much better. Problem is, this is in my 'hood - I want this place to be good. The owners know how to make very good Greek food & I know they're proud members of both Tacoma & its Greek American community. Please hire some better staff!!

Occasion: Take-Out Lunch This place has very good gyro's. It's a hole-in-the-wall place, but the prices are fair, good portions, and it's good. They have some good gyro's in Seattle/North Seattle and It's Greek to Me ranks up there. The fries are good, they bread it or use some kind of flour mixture. This place is more of a take-out place, since it only has like 4 small tables. But I guess 'by definition' it qualifies as a restaurant since it has a seating area. I would not drive more then 25 minutes to this place, but if you live in Tacoma or the surrounding areas, I would recommend this place if you're looking for a good Gyro.

  • Oblio N.

Update: Their new location seems to have come along with a renewed dedication to customer service. My last several visits, the staff has been super-friendly, fast and efficient. The food is still absolutely top-notch. And now that they have a proper dining room, actual bathrooms, and a parking lot, it's like the It's Greek To Me I always wanted!

This place is my benchmark for a traditional Gyro. Period. It also happens to be my benchmark for Greek fries and Gyro pizza! Usually I'll order combo 3. Healthy greek salad, drink, Parmesan coated bread, and of course the Gyro! It can be ordered either traditional beef and lamb or chicken. If you eat in your gyro will be piled high with gyro meat, lettuce , tizeke sauce, tomato and onion to the point it is over flowing from the large paper boat the warm and soft pita is in. I usually have to eat with a fork for a bit to even consider folding the pita to eat by hand. Always fresh veggies and sauce. The meat is seasoned well. (Couldn't hurt if it had a tad more seasoning but they already make up for it by volume) the Greek salad is pre made in containers, filled with greens, Olives, bell pepper, onion, grape tomato, feta cheese and a cup of oil and vinegar. The Parmesan coated bread is a generous slice of white bread loaf that has been grilled crisp with butter and coated in fresh fine cheese. Order a side of Greek fries and you generally get a plate with plenty to share. They start off with a large amount of crisp fries and pretty much drench it in mozzarella , feta, greek seasoning. A gooey mess of stringy melted yumminess. Now they moved from the tiny building into a place across the street. Much more indoor seating, clean looking, and you are no longer feeling like you are sitting in the kitchen. You are serenaded with tourism videos of Greece while feasting on gyro delight.

It's Italy to me. I'm not a huge fan of gyros, therefore I cannot give any feasible feedback. How many places really have a drive up and serve spaghetti with meatball? 1. It may seem a little overpriced by the look of their take-out box and the line can get long but it was all worth it.

    (5)

I have never been more disappointed with Greek food. Average service but most notable, below average greek food! I am no food snob, but please consider other very nice options in the Tacoma area.

  • Sam H.

When it comes to having good Gyros... i'm have a pretty stark opinion of it... Makes me wish that i never tasted the suculence of gyos made by native turks where meat juices, creamy yogurt sauce, crips onions, and pita bread that fluffs and chews at the same time.... This place... not that, just very american and just normal... So if you want some normal gyro... come here.

    (3)
  • Thomas P.

I used to go this place when I was nearby because it has better falafel than Pita Pit. It's kind of dirty and a little on the expensive side, but I was willing to overlook that. Now I will never go there again. I found out today that they use beef fat to fry in. I really hate restaurants that make it impossible for a vegetarian to eat there. It especially bothers me that there was no notice or anything up so even if you order a "vegetarian" dish like falafel, you are unknowingly eating beef. VEGETARIANS BEWARE!

  • Chris F.

This is the sort of place you go if your are driving by and looking for a quick bite, the moment you think....Taco Bell (insert whatever fast food joint comes to mind), but then quickly ponder the phrase...Grade D, but edible (so testimony says) and then with lightning speed you swerve across two lanes into their parking lot. GRADE D but EDIBLE? WTF?! You walk in...a nice hot summers day...only to find it hotter in there than outside LOL. I give them big ups for that - slaving over the hot coals for minimum wage. I hate the tip jar at places, but they earned that buck fifty I threw their way. Hopefully, they saw that and weren't too fogged out from the heat exhaustion. Place has about 5 two tops inside, and several round tables outside. Now, onto their food. 5 stars? I must be missing something. The hot bra-less chic with a tight white t-shirt must not be working there anymore? I had their lamb gyro.(pronounced yer-oh, not j-eye-ro), and it was just okay. For anyone who thinks their gyro is the bomb, take a trip down to Seattle to Mr. Gyro's in Greenwood, on Greenwood Ave and 85th ave. Aside from the impeccable food, the service is TOP notch. Simply the best.

This is one of my favorite little Tacoma dive's. We come here often in the summer for the gyro's and occasionally a pizza. They have a tiny area inside to eat, but a decent sized patio for some summer grub. This place is not one for decor, and the service is nothing to be excited about (just a bunch of high school kids runnin the show), but the food is great, HUGE portions on the gyro!

Just visited their new location. I have been going to the old location for a couple of years. The move was not good for them. New staff seemed confused to say the least. Didn't know what they had available and not. Should sell sliced pizza after lunch and on weekends. They have great pizza but most people don't want a whole one. Gyro was much lighter on the meat than at the other location. The move cost them about 2 stars in my estimation. Seems like they recently raised their prices too.

The food is great here, just as in the other location. It's good for an in-and-out type meal, but not really great for sitting and enjoying food. I will still be a customer though. :)

Up side - Reliably great gyros, kids love the huge kids spaghetti, the east coast feel. Down side - no real seating, and icky fries. You can easily share plates.

Very pricy if you don't get pizza or gyros. I ordered hummus with extra veggies instead of pita. Got a few olives and a few slices of vegetable. Very disappointed. Interior was a bit dirty as well, enough to make me not want to return.

YUM! Simply Love their food! The fries "ROCK"... They also have a large room if you want to bring in a big group or have a party.. The food is consistently GREAT!

certainly a friendly joint, certainly tasty, but is pretty average in terms of fast greek food. ingredients have come and gone for me when i order gyros, meaning sometimes i get tomatoes, sometimes i don't. i also wish that the tzasiki sauce had a tad more flavor. As said, while this place won't knock your socks off, it will satiate the craving. side note: their online menu needs to be updated. it is more expansive than what they actually offer. too bad because there's nothing like a pile of greek roasted potatoes.

Great place to come if you want a home style meal that your Greek grandma would make you. If she is a good cook that is

Ordered the Greek for two... Great choice but did not expect the sheer amount of food to be put on the table. Favorite bit was the Mousaka but the entire plate(s) were delicious. Pretty sure you could feed four with the Greek for two!

  • Jason C.

  • Jackie G.

  • Carey K.

  • Douglas K.

What huge portions! Gyro's were awesome and greek salad was great. They are at a busy little location and there isn't much room to eat inside, so go on a beautiful day and enjoy the food on their patio or go through their drive-thru and get it to go.

When I want quick drive through food. I like to go here. It's not authentic, sit down, but almost pretty good street food. I like the lamb gyros and even their spaghetti with lamb added.

Have you tried their lattes? The beans come from Chase Coffee and they give a percentage back to Uganda where the beans are grown. It is now my FAVORITE latte place!

I have never been more disappointed with Greek food. Average service but most notable, below average greek food! I am no food snob, but please consider other very nice options in the Tacoma area.

So if you want some normal gyro... come here.

  • Eli B.

  • Mikal W.

  • Ira T.

  • Suzanne N.

Really great gyros. Sometimes the food is inconsistent though.

  • Joseph L.

It's quick and convenient. Not a bad gyro. Has a drive through so you can get food quickly on the go. I'd probably go again, just not too often. Five stars for convenience for quick pretty good food on the go. Way better than most fast food.

This is better than Johnnie's Greek on Bridgeport. This place is consistently better, I think. Not the greatest, but better than any Greek place in Tacoma for quick food.
