OK - so we thought we'd try this funky place - and oh yes it is country funky with not a square inch of wall space not covered with some sort of kitchy country decor. Gladly, the lack of restraint carried over to the food and service - both were excellent. The Manny's was perfect temperature and inexpensive compared to other restaurants. Oh, C had one of the best restaurant margaritas in a long time. We regret not trying it sooner and will be returning. UPDATE: Sadly didn't make it - Out of business

Entering its latest incarnation, the beloved former Aurora Ave mainstay is open again -- this time up the road (oh, just a bit) in Stanwood. I loved the old Cyndy's (see previous review), and though I miss my potato-pancake fix, I had high hopes for the new space, which is now offering dinner hours, a full bar (!) and pretty much any kind of live music you can think of. Worth the drive? Absolutely -- the restaurant / bar / gathering space is large and charming (calm down and look past the cowboy decor, city kids; this is a terrific live-music venue, and great for karaoke for those who indulge), and the location is absolutely an upgrade. And the food -- yes, I miss my potato pancakes (though the Holland babies are still with us, hurray), but the new offerings are delicious; the french dip is gorgeous, the hand-cut fries are insanely great, and I can't wait to try the prime rib soon (ask the proprietors how they've set up the kitchen for prime-rib-meccadom.) But before you order any of these lovely things, THE CHOWDER. Eat THE CHOWDER. That beloved local fish chain knows some things about chowder, but Cyndy's offering blows that stuff entirely away; not merely the best chowder I've had in the Pacific Northwest; this is the best chowder I've ever had, period. So, recapping: 1) Put gas in car; 2) put car in spacious parking lot in unreasonably cute downtown Stanwood; 3) put chowder in belly. Voila, happiness -- and now with 99 percent less Aurora Ave funk. Welcome back, Cyndy's!

Sorry folks...Cyndy's closed about a month ago. The word in town is that the rent is too high for a restaurant to survive at this location in the current economy. That and the food was not good. Every time we ate there my husband would have heartburn all night.

Decided to try out this restaruant on 2/16/13, and was surprised to find a note on the door indicating that they're no longer in business.... Couldn't post the info without rating, so that's why I left one star.
