Ok. As an Italian, I am very picky about my Italian food. This place is wonderful and has a great family atmosphere! I had the chicken parmesan and it was absolutely divine! It was moist throughout and the flavor amazing! I also had a minestrone soup which was great, and spumoni ice cream. (Gotta love a place with spumoni!) Overrall, I would definitely recommend Luigi's if you are in town and wanting a great family getaway for Italian food. Molto Buona!

Good food, though not the greatest kids meals, a bit too different than the norm for my picky eaters. My meal was great though pretty spendy for the portion size.

I ordered linguini and clams my wife ordered spaghetti both gluten free after waiting over 40 minutes we were both served penne pasta. the only plus side was our waitress Britney was very good. I will not be going back

Inedibile. But people who dont know better love it. It gets 2 stars instead of 1 because I saw Johnny Depp here in the 90s.

I LOVE LUIGI'S! My boyfriend and I live in Seattle and we were in Spokane recently because he has a niece going to Gonzaga who we were visiting for a week. My boyfriend realized it was Valentines day (ha-ha) so we all went to Luigi's for dinner. They were packed but they graciously fit our party of 3 in as soon as they could. I was so pleased at the fact that THEY SERVE VEGETARIAN FOOD! I rarely eat out because I do not eat or even wear any animal products. I am always skeptical of having Italian food because we have family friends from Italy that have spoiled our senses with their cooking, but LUIGI'S food is out of sight! They also have 5 star service and 5 star atmosphere. I LOVE Luigi's old world charm and didn't expect Spokane to have such an enchanting place to eat. I don't like going to Spokane much but now I will not mind as long as we can go to Luigi's for lunch or dinner.

Food was okay. I had the myzithra which was awful (it is a sad day when the Old Spaghetti Factory does anything better than you). Husband had the lasagna which was better. Service was good as was ambiance.

Great dinner! Had the chicken parmesan and it was on point. Service was quick and very friendly and helpful. Will be returning for sure!

Sorry that I had to give this restaurant only one star. Here is the reason or reasons: confused wait staff, soggy pre made salad due to too much dressing, pettiness. Our party had 19 people in it. We all bought the all you can eat buffet. The fettucine was pretty good, but the lasagne wasn't so good. The chowder was pretty thin. What really made our experience negatively memorable was the fact that we all paid for 19 salads but were given only 17. We kept telling them we were 2 short, but they could not figure it out for some reason. So we let it go. The waiter even came out to count how many salads we currently had, but the ones we needed were no where to be found. Too bad.

I recently attended a conference in Spokane at the Convention Center, down the street from Luigi's. I had meals there twice during the week I was there. The food is delicious and filling, the wait staff is friendly, helpful, fast, and accurate, and the ambiance is enjoyable. I had fettuccine Alfredo with salmon for lunch on one day, and it was well seasoned and cooked perfectly. Alas, I didn't get to try the smoked salmon lasagna because I was only in the area for a few days. For the second visit, I took a friend with me for dinner, and had the chicken picatta, which was likewise well seasoned and cooked perfectly. Highly recommended for anyone attending a conference. It's within walking distance of the convention center. :)

This place reminded me of the southern Italian restaurants of my childhood growing up in Queens: lots of red sauce and traditional dishes. Unfortunately the authentic richness wasn't there. The sauces are bland. The fried calamari was over salted, and the coffee too weak to drink. It's like whoever created the menu left the kitchen twenty years ago and no one is left who knows what real red sauce should taste like. The service was good and the quiet ambience of a private room much appreciated. I liked the homemade ice cream called tortoni which I hadn't tasted since my childhood. Maraschino flavored with amaretto and bits of chocolate made for a nice finish to an unremarkable yet edible meal reasonably priced and close to the convention center.

I will write a short review because I didn't dine in. And therefore it wouldn't be fair to give a higher rating. However, the lasagna and chicken Marcella was pretty tasty. Next time I will make sure to take pictures but I didn't want to take away from any of the credit that Luigi's deserves. Overall good taste, outstanding portions and I will definitely be back.

Authentic, homemade Italian cuisine at its best. I have a gluten allergy, so was excited that they have gluten-free pasta. Not all restaurants offer gluten-free pasta, so I often have to skip the best dishes on the menu. My daughter and I both has pasta specialties & loved them. For dessert we had their homemade vanilla, ammeretto ice cream, amazing! The service wasn't the fastest, but very friendly and accommodating. Great ambiance in this 1920's era brick building. It has a rich history starting as the former Salvation Army headquarters and is on the National Register of historic places. I would definitely go back!

Italian food is an art form that is learned at gramma's knee. Luigi's is no exception! Marty and Jennifer own and run this first class place. It truly is a family affair! Cousins, nieces, nephews, even Gramma herself! What would an Italian eatery be with out the requisite red and white table cloths?!? Dark green napkins accent said tablecloths! Music and wine flow aplenty! The wait staff is courteous and kind. And very attentive! Now the best part, the food! We started with several appetizers and were NOT disappointed. The anti-pasti platter is not only beautiful, it is delicious. The roasted red peppers were my favorite! They do a wicked steamed clams dish. They have something that I have seen anywhere else. Fried walleye. It isn't very fishy and a great way to introduce fish to anyone. It is lightly fried and served with this butter sauce! After the appetizers, came the pasta! We had traditional spaghetti, chicken Alfredo, salmon lasagna, and this vegetarian pasta dish ( forgive me, I can't remember the name for the life of me). While all were good, the vegetarian dish was by far my favorite! It had this wonderfully creamy sauce, artichoke hearts, broccoli, and olives, too! For dessert, we tried this ice cream. It has amaretto, cherries, almonds, and chocolate chunks in it! One bite and I was in heaven. This place is great for a date night with your sweetie or a family dinner! Either way, bring your appetite! Remember "just put it in your mouth"!

I still love this place! I used to come here when I lived in the area during college and recently came back to revisit old stomping grounds along the way to a wedding in Coeur D'Lane. This place was exactly as I remembered it about 8-10 years ago! It's located in downtown Spokane in an old brick building. It has a very old school cafe feel with the red/white table covers. The dining room is up a short flight of steps and does have a bar but the main dining room is usually where most people are dining and commence. I don't know if reservations are taken but I don't remember ever having difficulty getting into the restaurant. Service was good and the server was pleasant. My staple item was the baked ziti with meat sauce and it was still good as ever! The cheese on top is slightly crisped but the meat sauce is a well balanced with the noodles. It's just a pasta bowl of heaven! My friend had the spicy chicken calabria which was also very good and had quite a bit of kick from the pepperoncinis so if you're sensitive to spice, this probably isn't a good choice. The bread was nice and warm, fresh and doughy! YUM! We also tried the clam chowder rather than the salads and it was delicious! It was hardy, fresh but not fishy and nice consistency that was thick but not gravy. Just a great bowl of chowder that went great with the bread! I'd say prices are a bit high considering the area but not outrageous. Still a great memorable place from my college days with some nice pasta dishes.

This was our first visit in many years. The handicap parking is a real joke. It is down the alley at another business and is not handicap assessable in anyway. Also it is only good after 5pm. The food is good but very expensive. Even the Italian Kitchen across the street is a much better value. Our server was extremely busy and we suffered because of it. Had to ask for bread 2 times. It could have just been an off night but 95.00 for 2 adults and 2 children and one glass of wine is just too much. Guess Olive Garden is sounding pretty good.

The rotund server frantically fumbled from person to person, gathering our culinary requests. Beads of sweat poured from his furrowed brow as he replenished ice water, served bread, and recorded orders for our group of 30. The overworked twenty-something looked as if he might have a heart attack. He needed backup. He delivered warm bread to our crammed table. Our ravenous legions devoured the delicious bread within minutes. He attempted to keep our cups filled with ice water. But our thirst was too great for one server to quench. Our lack of hydration became a recurring theme throughout the meal. The Irish Death ale I ordered was the temperature of cold dishwater. By the time our food materialized, nearly an hour transpired. I attacked the cheese-filled manicotti with fervor. Disappointment washed over me like an icy Pacific breaker. The first bite shattered my hopeful expectations surrounding this dining establishment. In milliseconds, the fragile hype of Italian culinary bliss dissolved into lukewarm reality. The cook's half-hearted attempt at manicotti fell short of meeting even my most mediocre expectations. The consistency of the marinara sauce was right on but the flavor was just too tomato-y and it lacked the right blend of herbs to make the dish palatable. By its very nature, ricotta is a lightly flavored cheese. But this ricotta was really, really bland. Also, the pasta was undercooked. The server returned and entombed our leftovers in white boxes. Rather than bring them with us as we departed, we decided to leave them behind so as not to be reminded of our cremated expectations.

Lunchtime in Spokane WA. --- where to go? And the answer was to look up just one block over from where we parked near the Convention Center and the Doubletree Hotel. The Luigi's sign was right up there to see. Luigi's is about perfect for an old-school Italian restaurant. Red and white checked table clothes, high arched ceilings with lots of wooden beams, lighted grape clusters along the doorways and Frank Sinatra crooning softly in the background. Hubby and I were seated quickly at a booth by a window and our server came right over. We ordered iced tea, as it was a sunny, warm day and then decided to keep it simple so we would have more time to explore the Riverfront park after lunch. We both ordered meatball sandwiches served with a pickle. The sandwich is what I call a "grinder" as it is a crusty Italian roll, partly hollowed out and stuffed with meatballs and cheese. The ones at Luigi's are really delicious. Dennis, our waiter, kept our tea and water glasses filled and was very pleasant and helpful throughout our meal. And just thinking about that meatball sandwich makes me hungry for another. Luigi's turned out to be a winner and a great place for lunch when visiting Spokane.

I found Spokane's hidden gem! This family owned restaurant has such a unique atmosphere and a personality of it's own that makes you feel more then welcome. The food is authentic and delicious- I cleaned my plate and that never happens! They are able to accommodate any dietary needs. It means a lot when the cook himself comes out to see if you enjoyed your meal. The quality of the food is unbeatable and the affordability allows you to enjoy the experience. Having the outgoing and attentive staff which is all family, really made me feel welcomed! Plus the history of the building is remarkable

I like Luigi's. I don't need to say more. Luigi's has a large menu, great bar, a reputation for serving wonderful meals. I think that they are a bit pricey; however, the meals are generous. The dated atmosphere and parking challenges take away from an otherwise very nice evening.

Wow talk about a true family business! They have been in business for over 27 years and the owners are incredibly nice and gracious. The food is all fresh and homemade. Fried walleye is truly delicious and definitely needs to be ordered when dining at Luigi's. The pastas are very flavorful and are perfectly paired with warm bread that is served complementary. The veggie pasta was really good. It had pieces of broccoli, olives, and mushrooms. Overall, everything was beyond satisfying and can't wait to go back to try more items!

Laid back and chill, awesome fettuccine Alfredo and calamari. My girlfriend got spaghetti and it was great, server was professional fun and make you feel at home. Only con was they forgot the meatballs for the spaghetti other than that an awesome experience.

No rsvp on Friday pm. Was the wait worth it? most definitely! The casual, old school motif on Italian dining. They were busy, right up front the pleasant waitress told us that the kitchen was backed up. The appetizer of baby clams set the stage for truly delicious courses to come. They were indeed the beginning of goodness. My husband had the usual fetaccine Alfredo, daughter had manicottis & I had chicken Dijon. The meal was very good. Their sign drew us in initially, a good decision.

Where to start, before this visit to Luigi's I had only heard good things but unfortunately it did not live up to my expectations. This is not because it was over hyped, it just was not up to par. I actually prefer **gasp** The Old Spaghetti Factory over this restaurant for Italian cuisine. It was missing that extra something to earn its price tag. It started with the complimentary bread, which was delicious and believably made in-house but it was served with premade block butter. Why go all out on bread then serve it with unspreadable block butter? This perplexed me. The bread was not hot enough to melt the butter and after I forced myself to finish that piece I ordered the brown butter and Myzithra spaghetti entre. It tasted good but it was to small for the price they charge. I really wanted to like this place and the interior is pretty and the staff was very hospitable. But in the end I feel the food is overpriced for what I got. I wanted to like this place but I will not be returning.

Valentines night....Romantic?! Nope! No thanks to the unbelievable treatment from the OWNERS WIFE, Jennifer. As soon as I found out we would be spending Valentines In Spokane, we made an reservation here! (2 1/2 weeks before) Arrive at 7:40 for a 8:00 Res. Finally get called to be seated at 8:00, and are taking to a table in the walk way from the kitchen....while in line we talked to people without reservations that waited 40 mins and were seated in booths, and better tables. We asked the hostess if we could have another table, she complained that we had only called a 1/2 hr before to change our res. from 4 to 5, and this table for 4 w/ a chair pulled up was our only option. We explained that we had been waiting for 20 mins. & could wait for another option, she said she would have to ask Jennifer. Ok. ( Now the hold on to your seats, this is where it gets CRAZY!!!) This woman comes stomping out..says "What do they expect 20 mins before?" ( We did call and change the Res around 6:30, when we spoke to our neighbor and found she was staying home that night since her husband is DEPLOYED overseas!! ) Either way, we explained we wouldn't want that table with only 4 people..it was right in a walk way. Could we wait for another table? Her answer was Yes, she would add us to the bottom of the list...an hour and 1/2 away!!! That is when my husband angrily asked her "Why would you give good tables to people without Reservations and give people w/ Res 2 1/2 weeks out a terrible table?" Her answer was "Because we changed our reservation." She added she "didn't care, they have enough business without us, and she could care less!" Another employee took over and said he would find us something. Jennifer started to go back into the kitchen, and said loudly for us to "F*%& OFF" !!! Can you even imagine?!?!? She made a scene in her own restaurant, & swore at us!! If the rest of our party would have been there, and if it wasn't Valentines Day we would have walked out. Thankfully, her husband Marty came out to us apologized, found us a nice table and check in throughout the evening smoothing things over. While Jennifer sat at the bar drinking!!! It was such an unfortunate event....we managed to enjoy our meal, and sadly I would give the food a good review, the wine, and the dessert! Our waitress was very nice, and attentive. She gave us dessert because she felt so badly about what had happened. It seemed like the employees were use to the owners wife causing trouble and were embarrassed by her. Again, after a tasty dinner, great service, wonderful dessert, we walked out and were greeted by her sitting at the bar giving US dirty looks! How sad that a nice locally owned restaurant could be so damaged by one person, I did tell her I would be yelping about this....So Jennifer, do your nice husband a favor and stay home!!!!

Popped in on a lunch break to grab a bite at the bar and found a delicious meal with an attentive bartender. Admittedly, the bartender was not present at the bar when we first walked in, but once they were informed that we were there, the service was great! Food is very flavorful and fresh but a little heavy on the sauce; not by much though.

Stopped in for lunch a while ago with some friends. The worst Italian food I have ever had in a restaurant. Traditional dishes were not fresh at all. I strongly recommend trying one of the newer establishments in Spokane.

Christmas eve, made a reservation for 20. A few of our guests were late. We had a baby, some teens and the old people with the credit cards. Service was excellent. Food was great and our group was able to feel comfortable even as the last ones out. Aimee (sp?) was our server and she was the bomb. Thanks so much for making our Christmas Eve a blast.

Place was AWESOME! The bread they start you out with was delicious. The server was very attentive and my drink was never empty. Always love that. I had the Wall eye and chips. They served with vinegar! No one does that anymore very big plus. The tarter sauce was the very best I have every had. The clams were delicious as well as the chowder. My wife had the eggplant and my kids had pasta. Everyone was very satisfied and the prices were extremely fair. Would go again for sure.

The food was terrible, so much for THE Spokane restaurant. I ate the Seafood Liguini with White Wine Sauce-sauce tasted like water. I had two shrimp and two scallops, the rest was tiny obviously frozen shrimpmeal. The mussels and clams were overdone and rubbery. My daughter ate the Seafood Fettucini, same seafood issue and the sauce was not even creamy. It had no taste at all. Terrible, not worth the price paid and I will never return. The water was attentive and wonderful, so I left him a decent tip, but the food is not worth the money at all.

  • Amy A.

They have AMAZING food. I must admit, I have only ordered a handful of things on their menu (which has many choices) but its only because they have the BEST clam linguine ever! I also am guilty of having samples off of friends plates so I really have had a little bit of everything. Steamer clams are AMAZING. Yummy bread and home made dressings, sauces, etc. ok, ok. Italian food is my favorite, but Luigis is some of the best I've had! Consistently great service, which I tend to be picky about. Just try it if you're in Spokane. One of my favs!

I visited Spokane for a work trip in November. The concierge at my hotel told me that Luigi's was the best Italian in town. "Best in town" is not a compliment I take lightly so I gave it a whirl. It was not exactly everything he had made it out to be. The waitress was knowledgeable and friendly. However, the food was only decent. I had the spicy alfredo which was decent but not the best I've ever eaten. My colleagues were likewise not impressed by their meals. We also got dessert, which left us unsatisfied. I had the tiramisu - not worth the calories here. If Luigi's is the best in the city, Spokane could use a lesson in cooking Italian.

I am so happy we chose Luigi's for our first date night in years! The food was spectacular, but I want to discuss the service. We were seated in seconds and drink orders were taken upon sitting. Our Servers name was Brittney. She wassail delightful. It was reassuring to come in contact with an individual that truly enjoys her job!

yo yo...we came, we ate, we liked... Took a large group here for dinner and had an excellent experience. Not my first rodeo here but definately their best showing. Apps were yummy...Lobster/Artichoke with their signature bread...they were licking the bowls clean. Calamari, dont know since I can't stand it but based on the rapid consumption from that end of the table I will go out on a limb and say it was good. We had a broad selection from the menu...steak, pasta, salad, chicken and it was all served appropriately, cooked to perfection, tasty and better than expected. My take on Italian is this...this is America and like everything we consume, it has been Americanized to meet our generic tastes. This was not that all...rich flavors, fresh ingredients, homemade dressings and bread and plenty of food for the price. We all ate, had apps, two drinks and tipped 20% and spent about $37/person...not bad for this sort of setting. Its other pro's are its downtown setting, abundance of space, quick service at the bar and good dinner service. Do it...

Ew. Went here one time. Just a head's up- not Italian food, unless you think pouring Prego on noodles is Italian. I can sum up the place pretty neatly here. Shrimp pasta with itty bitty canned shrimp. And then, they pour salt on it for flavor. Never again.

We had our rehearsal dinner here with a group of 20-25. Parking was surprisingly painless, considering this restaurant is located in downtown. They have a private lot behind the restaurant. Food was delicious. Really enjoyed the Lasagna. Service was fast and friendly. Kind of expensive, but we had a pleasant experience overall.

Luigi's is one of my FAVORITE Italian restaurants in Spokane. The menu has SO much variety and each dish is very unique and delicious. I have yet to have a meal that I wasn't impressed with. The owner is beyond friendly and his staff does a great job. There is plenty of seating to accommodate parties large or small. I highly recommend Luigi's!

Slow but polite service. Great blackened chicken. The alfredo sauce had some strange spices in it and wasn't recognizable as an alfredo sauce. still, it was quite yummy. the tiramisu is made there and is absolutely delicious. I would come here again just for the dessert.

I used to love this place. The last time I went in , it was absolutely terrible . I ordered my usual the seafood fettuccine and when I got my plate it looked different . I decided to give it a chance even though it looked more like pho . The sauce was so watered down it was pure liquid with hardly any flavor . This was nothing like I've had before there . I order this dish everytime I go there . I was very disappointed and didn't eat anymore but one bite . There was still a full plate of food when our waitress came back to check on us and I told her I was unhappy . She didn't offer anything but a free desert and argued that the fettuccine sauce is supposed to be that way . I highly suggest if that's the way it's supposed to be to revise your menu or offer a soup spoon with it . I gave this three stars because in the past this has been a good place to eat but I won't be coming back ever again . Oh I forgot to add when I was talking to our waitress she told me if I want my sauce thicker and not so watery I need to ask for it that way . So if you order any pasta there I'd highly suggest asking for it thick lol . I paid full price for something I didn't even eat .

I love this place, it's got the perfect blend of great food, wonderful ambiance and friendly staff. I try to make it once a week for lunch and every time I leave completely satisfied. The food is delicious, I haven't tried everything but I'll recommend the ravioli and manicotti. Drinks are great too and their wine list has a lot of options and varieties. If you have a chance try it out, you won't be disappointed.

We wanted to let you know that we had the BEST time last night! The food is incredible, the atmosphere is perfect, and the service was excellent. A special thank you to our waiter, Kellen. Luigis is easily my favorite place to eat in Spokane, and I make sure to visit whenever I'm in town (sometimes more than once!) The options are countless and you are always served a generous portion. The servers here actually care about how you are enjoying your meal, and they work hard to provide good service. I love the wine list and have been given some good advice on pairings by their bartenders and servers alike, which actually isn't that common these days (yeah I get that white wine will go well with the cream sauce, but WHICH white wine ;) ) All around a solid local business that I will continue to frequent when in town.

Amazing food, atmosphere, and service! Luigi's is a family owned business which makes me enjoy it even more! I wish i was in Spokane right now so I could dine at Luigi's. Some of my favorites include the calamari, spicy chicken calabria (fettuccine noodles tossed in a spicy alfredo sauce, with chicken, onions, mushrooms and peperoncinis), the sicilian linguine, steamer clams, and the old fashioned spaghetti. I have tried almost everything on the menu and have not been disappointed. For dinner each entree comes with a cup of homemade soup OR salad with your choice of one of their homemade dressings AND homemade bread! WOW! :) Also, don't forget to save some room for their homemade tiramisu or specialty tortoni ice cream. In some of the other reviews people have mentioned they had to wait awhile for their food; my advice to you fellow diners is to be appreciative your food is being made to order and not just reheated like many restaurants seem to be doing these days. Personally, I would rather wait for good quality food while enjoying a nice glass of wine. So if you are on a business trip in the Spokane area, on vacation, looking for a nice place to take a date, or going out to dinner with the family I highly recommend Luigi's! It's definitely some of the best food I have ever experienced!

My best friend and I ate at Luigi's last weekend after seeing "Camelot" at INB. We got there just in time before they were closing. The service was quick and friendly. My best friend really enjoyed her minestrone soup and spaghetti with marinara. I had the same thing except I had a house salad instead of soup. The food was ok. The marinara was bland tasting and the honey mustard dressing was too sweet and almost looked like ranch. Not the best Italian food I've had, but it was pretty descent. I would definitely recommend the garlic bread!

Had some appetizers here last weekend. We got the antipasto platter, steamer clams, shrimp, and cheesy garlic bread. All were super tasty! The clams were my favorite! The sauce was the perfect richness! The shrimp also came in a nice rice sauce that complemented the seafood perfectly! The antipasto platter had a great selection of different items. I highly recommend their appetizers!

I love the atmosphere and the service is good. I had the clam linguini and it was ok. I thought it was dry and lacked flavor. Maybe I was too tired to eat had been traveling all day and could not make myself eat.

I'll give them five stars. The food was great. The service was great. The atmosphere was very good, but then we had seven at the table. I had the chicken Parmesan, which was excellent. I got the salad as my side and it was also excellent, nice fresh veggies with just the right dressing. Yummy. My dinner companions all reported that their entrees were excellent, though I must admit that I don't remember what they got. Too much wine? Hmmm, perhaps. Our server, Aimee, did a great job of keeping us on schedule as we had a plane to catch. I checked Yelp for a recommendation and am happy to report that they are spot on.

In that old advertising hook "Where's the beef!" well, it is in the chili at Luigi's. Not second rate beef concealed with beans and broth, but melt in your mouth savory beef and who needs beans. Oh, they are there but not as con Carne, rather beef is the center piece of an extraordinary surprise ordered as a side soup option of the day. Excellently paired with the roasted garlic and warm bread, finished perfectly with a crisp cold Peroni. However, I will return for that and go for the whole bowl as a cup is just a teaser. Additionally, the fried oysters were plump and light, leaving me to watch enviously as my wife reluctantlty shared a nibble of one, only to be gracious. The main courses were fine as expected but the sides are often neglected in comments so this is to highlight the emphasis applied across the menu with an experience absolutely complimented by the engaging service. We will not return to Spokane without a stop at Luigi's

I was craving linguine and clam sauce. I like to order it when I can. I prepare it at home frequently. I use fresh clams when I can. It can still be very good without fresh clams. Luigi's is across the the parking lot from the hotel I stay at in Spokane. The menu said "Linguine and clam sauce, herbs, garlic, white wine, olive oil, clam Juice," I ordered it. It came with parmesan cheese on top. It did not say parmesan cheese on the menu. Authentic Italian seafood dishes rely on the flavor of the seafood, which is usually fresh and seasonal. Putting cheese on seafood is just not done. I sent the dish back without touching it. The waitress brought another one in about 15 minutes. I found the dish bland and below average. Heavy herb taste. Normally I would soak up all the broth with bread and leave a clean plate. Not here. All the really good authentic Italian restaurants I eaten at DO NOT have red and white checkerboard table cloths, Wine bottles and fake grapes and vines on the wall. This place is nothing special. Americanized Imitation Italian.

I was in town on business, so this place was convenient to my hotel. The food was decent and drinks were reasonable. If I didn't just want somewhere quick to walk I probably would've gone elsewhere.

Fantastic food! The small portions of the lasagna was just the right size, crispy cheese really added a great texture, yum. Came in late on Sunday right before close. Michael welcomed us, took great care of us and we could not have been happier with the service. The ice cream was fantasic as well. It was a great end to a long hard work day.

Ate here while I was in town for the Apple Cup, and had the seafood linguine (forget if that's what they called it, but that's what it was), and it was really, really good. Everything was seasoned perfectly and well balanced, garlic, oregano, butter, ect, it was all perfect. It has a nice dining atmosphere, and the service was good. I cant speak for the rest of the menu, my friends all really enjoyed their food as well though, so I would recommend Luigi's to anyone in Spokane.

Ten years of positive experience undone by one night. I've been going to Luigi's twice a year for the past decade, which is whenever I'm in Spokane. Up until tonight, I've had good experiences. Tonight, we arrived at 6:05pm for dinner, but our friend was late and didn't arrive until 7:00pm. In the meanwhile, the staff at reception filled every seat, regardless of waitstaff. Just after 7:00pm we were able to place our order. An hour had gone by and our waiter finally said, "I'm sorry, your food will be out in five minutes. That same statement came every five minutes for the next half-hour until we were served around 8:30pm. 90-minutes for food to be delivered. If the waiter had simply said, "We over-filled the restaurant and we are behind, I'm sorry", I would have understood. To tell us "Just 5 more minutes" repeatedly only made our hunger pangs worse and that wasn't right. When I asked the manager to make it right, he offered us free drinks. That never happened. Our bill arrived 20-minutes later. Full price with no deductions. I went back and asked the manager what was being done and he said his manager was going to give me a gift certificate for a future meal. No making thing right today, but I had to come back for another meal if I want to get any relief. To make matters worse, the owner came over to our table and blamed us for taking too long to order. She didn't take responsibility and said that free drinks were against the law and we should have known that. It didn't matter that the manager offered drinks as a remedy and he stood quiet as the owner believed that it was our suggestion to begin with. I've never been treated so poorly or had a restaurant owner blame me for their bad service. The bill totaled $88 with tax and tip and we received a $20 certificate to come back and get another dish of disrespect. No thanks. If your restaurant can't handle a full house, don't seat customers. If things go wrong, don't blame customers. I seldom write negative reviews, but this was the worst experience I've had at a restaurant in a decade and I eat out daily throughout the United States. I expected more, Luigi's.

We were staying in downtown Spokane for a wedding and just happened to see this place while walking around looking for somewhere to eat. We like going to local pizza places that have fun atmosphere, and this definitely fit that. We have three picky kids -- two hate sauce on their pizza, one loves salad. They all chowed down on the yummy breadsticks, and the salad bar was fantastic. My partner and I both got slices - I got cheese, he got the garden one. Very good. A little smaller than I'd have expected, but good deep-dish crust. I probably would order two slices if I went again. All in all, a delicious place and we liked the decor.

Excellent basic Italian - highly recommend. We had the baked ziti with meatballs (shared a huge single portion) and it was filled with cheese and other delicious ingredients. Caesar salad was great; bread was warm and fresh. Good wine selection at reasonable prices. Service friendly and prompt.

Dinner before the show at the performing arts center. Why 3-stars: Our reserved table was set and ready to go to get us through before the performance. They set our group aside in a room, quieter than the main dining area. We parked free in their designated parking area and left the car there during the show. The staff was very friendly and nice. Why not 4-stars: We had informed the staff in advance that we were going to the show, and our main course arrived 10 minutes before we had to leave. It made me feel uncomfortable. In situations like these, they should bring the main course while we are still finishing the starter salad. As to the food, several of us remarked that for $18 per entree, we expected better meals than we could make at home.

I ate here on the recommendation of a friend who RAVED about the blackened chicken greek salad. He was right - it's pretty delicious. They don't have Greek dressing available for it though...not sure what's odder...a Greek salad in an Italian restaurant, or the lack of the eponymous dressing. Anyway - really deliciously seasoned chicken, with a healthy portion of feta, kalamata olives, roasted red pepper strips, and julienned pepperoncinis. A very good combination. I'm probably just a sucker for the cheese and olives...but either way, the salad was very good for what it was. Their baked potato soup was marketed by a very perky waitress as "life changing." It was good, but it's not really changed my life. But that's OK, because I didn't think she really meant it.

I've eaten at Luigi's many times, mainly for special occasions, and although I would say it is family friendly, I've always gone there without my kids because I must enjoy the fabulous meal I know I'm going to have in peace, while being able to relish the restaurant's atmosphere. I'll admit I'm partial to their fettuccine alfredo. So much so, that I won't order it from anywhere else because I've done that once (Olive Garden) and was way too disappointed with the result. The sauce is full-flavored and thick, but not overwhelming. Their bread is phenomenal- it can not be compared to the garlic salted sticks you get elsewhere- and their blue cheese dressing (which I heard is actually gorgonzola) is mouth-watering. It's a lovely restaurant for many occasions and I have yet to be disappointed.

I reluctantly returned to the scene of the crime. Wait a minute.... this is so much better. We were seated in the main part of the restaurant - maybe that was the problem on the last visit. That up-stairs overflow area just isn't the same. This time it was not only clean, the service was good and lunch was great.

Great food, very full-flavored. Not the most authentic I've had, but good for Spokane. Baked potato soup is delicious. As is the baked sardinia. Kids mac n cheese was a huge portion and big hit with both my kids. Parking in back of resteraunt is free, parking on side is not.

Food was not good at all. Sausage and peppers was bland, and the manacotti looked like it might have been freezer burned. The ricotta filling was grainy. Food was lukewarm. Service was so-so. The only thing that was good was the bread and soup. Way over priced, canned ravioli tastes better.

When our oldest son graduated from Eastern Washington University, we took out a large group of people to Luigi's Italian Restauant. No problems .... we had reservations, the table was ready when we arrived. Inside, the place reminded me of various Italian restaurants in San Fransico's North Beach. It had an Italian family atomosphere, fun and the food was pretty good. (5) stars: ambiance, (3 to 4) stars: food, (10) stars: no more tuition! ..... well almost, still have one more son in college.

I am not sure what I am missing here. Everyone raves about how good this place is and I want to like it but I just can't. The service is usually pretty good but the food is no better than olive garden and they charge way more. It is a cheap Italian restaurant pretending that it is something better. The food is bland and tatstes like they used store bought sauce.

We come to Spokane a lot and always have trouble finding a restaurant to feed our family of six without breaking the bank and making us feel ill. We had heard about Luigi's but never eaten there for some reason. Well we changed that tonight. When we walked in the first thing that struck me was the aroma coming from the kitchen. A lovely seafood tomato garlic and herb smell made my mouth water. The service was great and the food was excellent. Usually Italian food in America means overly cheesy and greasy but Luigi's was light and flavorful. The bread was crusty on the outside and soft on the inside. Another plus is the fact that this is a locally owned family restaurant. We will definitely be back.

This was the first time I have been too Lugui's Both my friend and I had the Perfect Match. Both came with lasagna and either chicken calabria or sardinia old fashioned spaghetti. My friend chose the calabria and I chose the sardinia. My wife got pasta purses. All the meals came with baked bread served with real butter which was quite good. I also got a salad with Italian dressing. The salad was a mixed greens with shredded parmesan and croutons. The dressing was great and made for a good salad over all. Went great with the bread. The lasagna came in a little dish with a lot of cheese baked over the top, one of the better lasagna I have had. The sardinia was also great. The sauce was outstanding, it had ground sausage and whole slices of sausage with some onion, garlic, wine, and a little bacon. The bacon scared me a little when I saw it on the menu but it was very subtle and seemed the be well integrated into the sauce. Over all it was very good, one of the better Italians I have had, not sure why I had never been there before.

Good Italian food! It's more expensive than the Olive Garden and along the same lines of the Italian Kitchen. I prefer the Italian Kitchen so we don't come here very much. But when we do, the food is pretty good. The service is usually great but there have been a few times that we've had an inattentive server. I love the upstairs atmosphere..much more than the downstairs.

Mediocre at best, not memorable. Not worth the stop just to try something "new". The service and atmosphere is good. Fire the chef get a new manager destroy the menu and all the recipes. Save your buisness have one day where you pick people that never ate there before and give them free meals, take there advice.

This place is gross. Watery, no taste red sauce that is probably from a tin a can. This is NOT italian food and I am sure if any italian ate here they would be angry and embarrassed there food was being butchered this bad. How this is so popular is beyond me. If you want great italian food, park in the Luigi's parking lot, then walk across the street to the Italian Kitchen who has some of the best italian food in the Northwest. This place is though is dirt.....its icky, just avoid it. .

Once again, I was exploring Spokane because I am new to this area and someone had recommended that we eat at Luigi's. This mid-scale Italian restaurant is delicious. I had the gnocchi and my mother had the smoked salmon lasagna. Both were delicious. The service was OK...we waited quite a while for drinks and boxes and three different people waited on us. All in all, the food was great. If you can overlook the deficiencies in the service, it is great.

I went to Luigi's for dinner when I was stuck in Spokane on a recommendation from my hotel. I had a lighter dish in the vegetable primavera and a couple glasses of wine. I did like there minestrone soup and the fact it was included with the meal which is the only reason they got 2 stars. I would say try something other than the primavera as I have had MUCH better every where else in the world I have gone. Go for the atmosphere and not the food ... also watch out for parking tickets in the lot next door, apparently you can't park there :(.

  • Sameer K.

Food was good, and well portioned for the price. I also enjoyed that parking was provided free of charge in a reserved lot. Bread was rather soft and greasy for my tastes, but it was better than no bread ;) One note I would make is that the smoked salmon lasagna, as enticing as it sounds on the menu, is rather "meh", and I'd try something else. Service was quick, and pleasant. Dinner was good, but I'm pretty sure (99%) I got food poisoning from the leftovers. I'm still giving Luigi's the 3 stars I was going to give it before the food poisoning, since I can't say with 100% certainty that I got sick there.

In Spokane for the night so I Yelp'd to find a good place to eat around the area of my hotel, but I wasn't feeling any of the places listed. Looking out my 8th floor hotel window, I couldn't help but see the bright neon Luigi's sign a block away! I looked it up on Yelp and didn't read about anyone getting sick, so I chose this place, and I'm thrilled I did! I sat in the lounge and was waited on by bartender/waitress Amy, who was as courteous and professional as you could ever hope for! I had a tequila gimlet to start and ordered the Chicken Parmigian dinner, which included soup or salad, and I chose the soup, which was a delicious Potato Chowder! They were playing lots of music by Sinatra, Dean Martin, Jobim and many other great 50's/60's acts, which perfectly complimented the decor (with the red & white checked tablecloths). The Chicken Parm came out and it was everything I was hoping it would be: a beautiful breaded, breast filet, with just the right amount of perfectly-cooked mozzerella cheese on top. It also came with a side of spaghetti and meat sauce. Being on the road as much as I am, sometimes you just want a great, home-style meal, and Luigi's delivered! This meal "hit the spot" and obviously I haven't had anything else here, but I recommend every thing I had, and I look forward to coming back to Spokane and having the same thing again!

The archetypal 50's-60's Italian red-sauce restaurant. Sinatra and Dean Martin in the background. Moderately priced $15-20. Three of us went there had ravioli with meat sauce, sausage and meatballs, eggplant Parm and chicken Florentine. Eggplant was excellent with great flavor but a very plain red sauce on the linguine (fresh from the box). My meatballs and sausage were not cooked in tomato sauce but separately, so had not absorbed or contributed to the overall flavor. The sausage was very tasty but also very salty. Meat sauce was loaded with ground beef and not that flavorful. Chicken florentine was largely influenced by the Balsamic Vinegar which made it a bit sweet. All in all a serviceable but not outstanding meal.

I've been here once and do not plan on coming again. When I walked in, I loved the atmosphere. It seemed like a very intimate/romantic setting. The service was great, nothing special. When I opened up the menu I was surprised by the prices. I ended up ordering the Chicken Parmesean. For the price I paid for the plate, I was majorly disappointed in the quality of the food. The chicken was stiff, the sauce was very average, the portions were mediocre. I really was expecting a lot more for my money. I've definitely had better food at cheaper places.

We enjoyed the food. The red sauce was very good. The husband had chicken parm and I had the Tony Bennett Special. Wine was tasty. The huckleberry cheese cake was Amazing! Service was good. The decor was nice. We would go back.

I came here with a group of friends while we were in town for a convention. Since there was about 8 of us they couldn't seat us for close to 40 minutes so we spent the time in the lounge instead. Not bad, but kind of small, there was also a bunch of trays and used glasses and such piled on the counter in front of one of our group, she kept trying to push them aside to make herself some space, it wasn't until after they brought her drink that they actually removed this pile of stuff though. The cocktails were not bad though, they were tasty and seemed fairly strong (at least to my light-weight standards) and were served quickly and accurately despite the number of orders we were throwing around. Once we got seated it didn't take that long for someone to come take care of us and take our orders and once we'd ordered the food came very quickly, much faster then I expected. Everyone seemed to enjoy their food, I didn't order a meal of my own, then ended up shamelessly stealing off one of my friend's plates so I can't remember exactly what he ordered - the spaghetti was pretty average, the same as the sauce. The sauteed mushrooms were very tasty though, I enjoyed them quite a bit. It was pretty full but it was quiet enough that we could talk without having to shout to be heard, the staff were all very friendly and pleasant, though the food was average and a bit on the spendy side though the portions were generous. This place is pretty close to the convention center and the surrounding hotels, it was nice to just be able to walk over.

You pay for the building the place is very nice but the food is awful. My girlfriend and I went here for valentines day and the pastas were very disgusting the sauces had no taste but sweet and the pasta was very cold!! It was essentially cold pasta with sugar water. My girlfriend and I where not pleased spending 50$ for TV dinner quality food. I would rather go to an Olive Garden or Tomato Street. The only reason I have this restaurant 2 stars rather then 1 is the building and atmosphere is very nice and hard to beat

So Luiji's has quite a following in Spokane. Everyone talked about going here when I first moved to Spokane. It was as though I had not truly experienced Spokane until eating here. I still have no clue why Luiji's has this flagship restaurant status. I found it to be Spokalicious-Italian fare. Expect something a small step up from the Olive Garden, but still Americanized Italian; something that would make your great-grandparents from the old country shed a tear. The service was very good both times, especially given that the restaurant was packed. The food is good, but expensive. The eggplant parmesan and spaghetti were both delicious. The starter salad very fresh, and I recommend paying extra for the gorgonzola cheese. Complete the experience with a scoop of yummy tortoni ice cream.

Amazing ambiance, friendly staff with prompt service. The food is amazing I had the artichoke and crab dip with bread. Then for my entree I had the Sardinia spaghetti from grandma's Luigi family recipe. The spaghetti was perfect and the meat sauce was full of flavor!! The price is about $20 a plate. Wonderful Italian restaurant!!!!

YIKES. My family and I went to Luigi's when we were visiting Spokane for about a day and a half. Everyone we talked too, including the hotel personnel of the hotel we were staying at, said it was a great place for families and good food. Nope. I ordered the seafood linguini. The shrimp was over cooked, half the mussels were unopened, the clams tasted dirty and gritty. On top of that, the "alfredo" sauce they served was nothing more than a thin, butter sauce chalked full of herbs that impeded any good flavors, rather than encouraged them. No good. My brother ordered the surf and turf, and had to send back his steak three times. He asked for it to be grilled medium, and twice it came back with a cold center. For a 26 dollar meal, you would think that they could cook the steak correctly. My father had the lobster lasagna, which was mediocre. It was mostly cheese, and no lobster. My mother also had a steak, which she also had to send back twice. She ordered it medium rare, and it came back bleeding. On top of all of this, the service was horrible. The young lady that was helping us would leave for 20, 30 minutes at a time, and when she would talk to us she would roll her eyes and sigh like we were causing her a huge inconvenience. The only redeeming factor was the bread. It was tasty. Was it worth how much we paid for the meal? No. Was it worth the cruddy, rude waitress? No. Save your money, save your time, and go to someplace that values you as a customer and won't serve you half-done food.

Great dinner and a terrific staff, great for late night dining. I spend a decent amount of time in Spokane and i attempted to get a simple meal at Chile's rest, however they were closed by 8;30 so i headed across the parking lot and noticed, Luigi's. It was 9;15, they were open, they never made me feel bad for coming in late, they were very welcoming and then things got better. I had the veal Fracais, it was great and the portion was the right size. The service was terrific, the atmosphere great and the food was terrific. This is a great option for your Italian dining cravings in the Spokane area. I am sure locals have figured this out, since it was very busy at that hour. Well worth the trip

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
