An outstanding Italian restaurant located in an unlikely spot. Recently took my wife, brother-in-law, and 9 year old daughter (picky doesn't begin to describe her taste) here for my wife's birthday. We live on the Eastside (Sammamish) and wanted to avoid traffic going west and try a new place. What a great choice it was. Small and tastefully appointed place. Surprised to see it nearly full at 6:30PM on a weeknight but the folks in Snoqualmie eat early. There was plenty of room by 7:30. The food was delicious. On par with some of the best authentic Italian I've ever had. The Mozarella Caprese is not to be missed. The spaghetti with Bolognese sauce was delicious and made heavenly with the near tennis ball size very flavorful meatballs. My wife had a vegetarian pasta dish...superb. The b-in-law had a pizza with olves, anchovies, and mozzarella. Again, delicious. Finished with simply the best bread pudding I have ever tasted...anywhere. And I know my bread pudding. A word about the menu, portion sizes, and eating with kids. Our very helpful server, one of the owners, began by telling us if we didn't find what we wanted on the menu they could put together almost any dish using the ingredients on the menu. And while the restaurant does not have a child menu, they will fix any dish in a child size portion. As it turned out, our picky eater didn't go for that but it didn't matter because... THE PORTIONS ARE ENORMOUS! Our daughter ended up sharing my wife's and my meals and loved every bite. We took almost half the entire meal home at the end of the evening. Lunch the next day was simply great. All in all, it was a memorable birthday for my wife. If you're a local or up for a beautiful drive out east to Snoqualmie Falls and environs, I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Great food and wine. Had a dessert we didn't enjoy and they took it off the bill. Great place, small but comfy.

I visited for the first time on 1/3/14. The service and the food were excellent. I highly recommend this restaurant. The lasagna was wonderful. Although the prices are a little higher than some similar places, the quality exceeded my expectations.

I pulled all five out! Wow... After a day of sightseeing with our four year old, we had a fabulous dinner! The food and service were amazing! Thrilled with our dining choice!

Most excellent. Our 20th anniversary date we did here. Great service. The food was very good a Sicilian flavor and Nordstrom service. Another place I enjoy better than any at snoqualmie pass.

Do not waste your time. I ate hear a few years ago and their was hair in my food. I asked of a discount because of this and was told "NO, the price is firm and that is what your paying" Then I saw rats in the kitchen and got the hell out of there. The waitress actually called the Police because I did not leave them a tip! Then wound up in court over this. Steer the HELL clear of this place.

Quaint little place although the "feng shui" of the place is odd--it's like I was eating in a hallway. It's narrow and just feels cramped. As for the food...nothing special. Standard Italian fare for the most part. The fish dish I had, however, was underwhelming, way too much lemon sauce or whatever that was. The service was attentive and genuinely friendly but it'll take more than that to make me come back here.

Celebrated a friend's birthday at this absolutely fabulous restaurant last night. The service was superb. The chef actually came out and chatted with us about the dishes, making recommendations, and took our order himself! Everything ordered was delicious, including the recommended wine. Definitely a hidden gem of a place in quaint, old Snoqualmie. Will now be a favorite dinner destination.

Great service and amazingly friendly owner. Oh yeah, the food is great, too. My only complaint is the seating. It is very cramped inside. I'm always afraid I'm going to bump or be bumped by someone walking by. That aside it's a wonderful Italian restaurant that I feel lucky to live by.

After a few false starts my family and I are starting to find the good places to eat in the area. This is one of them. My son had the crab ravioli and absolutely love it. I had a dish that was called something like Ziti Explosion or something like that. It had ziti noodles, sauce, sausage, ground beef, and meatballs all baked together. It was pretty good. My wife had a dish (I forget the name) that was basically Chicken Parmesan with some Parma ham wrapped around the chicken. She enjoyed it. Out of the three of us hers was the only one that came out hot. The others were warm. It would have been nicer if it had been hot.

Personal touch, great atmosphere and good service changed my would-be-4 star review to 5. I was in the area with family. Pretty hungry and craving italian food, we were lucky drive by this place while in town. We stopped in during the late afternoon. They were closed, getting ready to transition to the dinner menu but were kind enough to seat us anyways. Perhaps my son's, "I WANT PIZZA!" shout out persuaded them! They not only gave us great dishes, but they supersized the pizza to a full size at no cost. I'm not sure why, but it was greatly appreciated! My wife got the spaghetti in Bolognese sauce which was pretty good. I got the Baked Ziti penne pasta with italian sausage. This, by far, was the winner. Backed pasta with a bed of cheese. I added some red pepper flakes to spice it up. The best pasta I've had in a long, long time. The place was small as others indicated but the layout was well thought out. You can tell if a restaurant owner takes pride in their restaurant, which they clearly do. You can especially tell by the cleanliness and detail in the bathrooms. Clean and attractive. Great service, great pasta, great atmosphere and a little extra-than-expected gets Gianfranco's a 5-star from me. My family and I already agreed we'd visit again when we're in the mood for italian, whether we're in Snoqualmie or not.

Love this place, ambiance is good for the valley and staff is great. Bread is delicious , Caesar salad yum with garlic and real anchovies. The lasagna is amazing, tiramisu too. Seasonal veggies are done perfectly. Try the special any ravioli special, lobster is to die for too. I eat out a ton and this is my valley favorite but can't do pasta daily for the obvious.

Apparently a new owner. Food was delicious, portions big. The staff was super friendly and had a awesome attitude. Loved it!

Wonderful, intimate ambiance. Perfect setting for a casual yet romantic dinner; the staff was so gracious, even before they found out we had just been married the night before! Food was very, very good & portions were extremely generous at very reasonable prices. Either bring a healthy appetite, split the order, or leave with a to-go box! In our case my husband & I did all three!!! While we didn't have a reservation they might be a good idea if its a weekend or a special occasion as shortly after we arrived the place filled up, FAST! ¡Buon apetito!

Went to Giafranco last night and took 3 pizzas to go. I've been to this place other times and had pizza there other times. However, last night the Margheritta pizza had NO tomatos! It tasted more like a regular mozzarela pizza. Disappointing.

My girlfriend and I stopped over here during our stay at Snoqualmie Falls. The food was absolutely delicious, and felt homemade. The portions were great, and the service was very friendly. Quiet atmosphere too, great place to go on a romantic date. I definitely will go back, some of the best italian I've had. I agree with a previous review, that this place is a hidden gem.

Stopped in last Friday, again another perfect experience. They remember us, we get the same little booth towards the back, we like to call it ours. It's quiet nd a bit romantic. They have some very fine wines on the list you won't around in other restraunts. The food is amazing. They have some really great deserts as well, HOMEMADE cannolis, three llittle guys, so fresh and went so well with a wonderful Cappuccino.

Tried them last night and all I can say is WOW. Service fantastic, cute little place. And the food was amazing. I had a linguine dish with chicken and vegetables, my husband had a ravioli pesto dish. Everything cooked beautifully, large portions. They brought bread right away, refilled our iced tea and coffee so that we never had to ask them for more. Wonderful.

Three of us went to Gianfranco's for dinner in early April 2010. Appetizers of bruschetta - okay; antipasto - okay. Tortellini alla panna - divine cream sauce. Would drive 3 hours for that! Special pasta, which was fusilli with sausages, peppers and mushrooms in a tomato sauce - tasty but left a bitter taste in our mouth once we got the bill. We assumed that the special pasta dish would be priced at the same as the rest of the pastas, in the $12-$17 range... It was $27.95. I've never paid that much for a pasta dish and was pretty upset. It isn't worth that much - even gourmet restaurants don't charge that much for a pasta dish unless it has truffles in it... I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it for a lovely, quaint evening. I just think they need to drop the price of their pasta special to be more in line with the others. - Update on March 26, 2011 - I have visited a number of Italian restaurants since I've been to Gianfranco's. Have not yet seen a $28 pasta dish. I've seen $22-$26 pasta dishes but they are made with fresh pasta made onsite, and usually have truffles or oysters, shrimp and scallops or the like. So I updated this review to say, I'm STILL pissed off and it's been a few weeks shy of a year since I've been there. And Gianfranco's made no effort to contact us via Yelp to apologize. Jerks. I'm reducing the stars. -Update on March 6, 2012 - Still, still, still to this day have not had an overpriced pasta dish and I've now lived in San Francisco and Dallas since then. STILL pissed off when I think about this. It would have been nice if they apologized bc it had to be the case that their wait staff got it wrong. There's just no way they could, in good conscience, charge that much for a regular ol' pasta dish. -Update July 1, 2012 - Finally found a $28 pasta in Austin, TX. Mind you, it had truffles. And for $10 more, you could add filet mignon. I wanted to add one final update: apparently the restaurant is under new management and they were gracious enough to contact me and ask me to come back (and let me know the specials are priced differently now). I really appreciate that. I'll change my review from 1 to 3 stars, because the 1 reflected MOSTLY that I was angry that no one ever bothered to apologize.

passed it once before with some buddies while out riding to snoqualmie fall, really wanted to try it but were short on daylight so needed to ride back home. then last weekend I was in town with the gf at snoqualmie fall brewery, we met up with friends of hers for dinner and was glad we finally got to try this little gem!! I had the lasagna and she had the pasta special of the night...both were very good with great sauces. they also had gluten free pizza crust and a good selection of wine, the atmosphere was intimate and the staff were nice and attentive, will be back for more!

It was an okay experience. The service was nice and attentive. The bread tasted a little dry and a touch stale. The food was hit or miss. We ordered a pasta with some kind of gorganzola sauce and veal saltimboca. The pasta was good, but for 13 dollars for a plate of pasta and sauce (no meat) something felt lacking. The veal saltimboca was incredibly disappointing especially at 20+ dollars. Four small paillards of veal, sad overcooked bit of veg, and a portion of scalloped potatoes. The only interesting part of the dish was the potatoes. It was bland and overly satly. It was interesting to go there once, but I would not go there again for the price.

First of all, this place is in Snoqualamie. Nothing personal, but this is not exactly a hub of culinary activity. Having said that, Gianfranco is a pleasant surprise. We have eaten there twice now with favorable results. Service can sometimes be slow, but overall a place we would re-visit. I had the Lasaguna and loved it..

New owners, Joseph and Leanne, have really taken strides to maintain the cute, cozy, comfortable and inviting atmosphere that is Gianfranco's. At the same time, giving the restaurant a nice refreshing feel. My family and I really enjoyed the atmosphere. The staff was great and the food was absolutely amazing. All five of us were extremely happy with our dinners and the portions more than satisfying. I think we have found our new favorite place to eat!!!

My wife and I "discovered" Gianfranco a few months ago, and we are delighted to have such a wonderful Italian restaurant right in downtown Snoqualmie. This is as near authentic Italian as you'll find outside of big American city Italian neighborhoods, so if your definition of Italian is "Olive Garden" you will either be disappointed or awakened. We've been there over half a dozen times now and have never been disappointed. The wine menu is spectacular - most wines are from Italy, with only 10 or so domestics. And the house specialty is their gorganzola sauce, which is amazing what one can do with a cream sauce. The food comes in generous portions - not family style, just hearty portions. And they are generous with their meats, sauces, and cheese. Definitely not the place if you are counting calories. Service is good enough, generally a little slow, but the food is always served at perfect temperature. This place is pricey, but more than worth it. Very thankful this place is local to us!

    I enjoyed the food.

I should start by saying that I enjoyed my meal. I also don't mind dropping cash on a really fantastic meal out. I also felt that it was a really nice find in downtown Snoqualmie. However, the price for the "special" pasta of the day was $29 and, to me, no pasta dish is worth that much. We assumed the "special" was indeed that - the special of the day (usually cost-enticing, or at least something fancy.) It wasn't. I have since looked at web site menus for upscale restaurants to price their pasta dishes and never found a pasta dish more than $20, unless it had truffles or some other specialty in it. This dish had no special sauce, just standard sausage, red bell pepper, and tomato with herbs. Very tasty -- two people ordered it at our table and we were all happy with it -- but nothing incredibly "special" about it. Also, the bread that came to the table was extremely dry. Not "crusty bread" dry, but honest-to-goodness STALE-dry. I enjoyed their wine selection, the menu selections, and the atmosphere. I'd skip the bread and order a fish or meat dish where the prices are somewhat high, but reasonable at least. If you don't mind overpaying for a decent meal, then order the pasta. I really don't like giving negative reviews and rarely do. But save your money or go blow it someplace really decadent.

Snoqualmie is not known for Italian food, but it should be, and it's because of Gianfranco's. This restaurant is fantastic - it reminds me of the small, family-run Italian restaurants in New York city, because it is small, family-run restaurant. On most days you will see the owner and his family working the restaurant. All of the staff there (family or not) are very friendly and helpful. The food is of excellent quality. I would definitely recommend the Penne Gianfranco - this is the signature dish of the restaurant, and it is a simple, but extremely tasty combination of pasta and a light Gorgonzola creme sauce. I added chicken to this, and it was worth it. Desserts are very good as well. It is a small restaurant, so space is a bit tight and reservations are a must. It's worth the drive out to Snoqualmie to see the Falls, and definitely to dine at Gianfranco's!

The food was pretty good. The service was decent. And it's a nice find in downtown Snoqualmie. I didn't like the price for the experience. My wife & I went for a dinner early on Friday evening . . . enjoyed a decent glass of wine with a quite acceptable Italian meal, but left saying that we probably wouldn't come back. From overhearing other dinners, this place is very favored by some -- worth a try.

  • M R.

Gianfranco's isn't that great. The food is completely covered in way too much cheese. We went there on a Friday night and silly me, thinking because it was a little town like Snoqualmie, we wouldn't need a reservation. I was right of course but the hostess certainly acted like she was doing us some favor by getting us a table immediately (there were several open tables). All in all, the restaurant is charming but a quite small and crowded feeling (I would not suggest Gianfranco's if you are claustrophobic). Sebastiani's in Snoqualmie Ridge might not be as nice of a restaurant but the food is certainly just as good if not better and it won't cost you quite as much.

What a pleasant surprise. My husband and I while staying at the Salish Lodge decided to try this little place for our anniversary. We were very happy with our decision. The service was great. The bread and oil they serve beforehand was amazing, in fact if everything was drenched in that I would be happy. We both ordered the specials that night, a baked pasta and the chicken, we loved them! Too much food but we tried are darndest to eat it all. It was hard to put down our forks. I would so reccomend this place over either restaurant at the Salish Lodge- while it is a beautiful property to stay at Im not a fan of eating there.

Great Italian food, need I say more. This is a family run restaurant in downtown Snoqualmie. The atmosphere is cozy and warm. The service is friendly and attentive. Most important is the awesome food. My favorite is the gorgonzola chicken incredible. If you can manage, get on the list for a Thursday night Wine dinner. Amazing.

Who would have thought you'd get good Italian in Snoqualmie? My parents took me here for an early dinner on my birthday this past May and the place exceeded all expectations. We had the place to ourselves at 4pm on a weekday and casually chatted with the wait staff who were both friendly and attentive. I noticed a ladder in the corner and wondered how long the place had been open? Clean and tastefully decorated as one would expect a small Italian place to be, I hope this place stays around for the food was excellent and the experience very enjoyable.

I really love this place, but I think there are new owners. The original owner was a real Italian and knew what traditional sauces are supposed to be. I think their food now is great, but their Marinara sauce tastes like BBQ sauce, it's so sweet. Their meatballs and dishes are great until they pour that sweet sauce all over their dishes. Pare down on the sugar, and I would rate this a 5 star.

Incredible! Walked down from Salish Lodge based on the reviews. It certainly did not disappoint. One of the best Italian meals I've ever had. One of those places we'll talk about and say..remember that Italian place? Be careful of huge portions. I had trouble sleeping that night because I just couldn't stop.

Had dinner here during an overnight stay at the Salish Lodge. What a great restaurant! Service was excellent, food portion was huge, parking was easy.. No complaints. We'll definitely be back & will recommend to friends & family.

This place was absolutely fantastic. It is a small seating area quite perfect for a date night. We checked it out on yelp and it already had great reviews. I went to their website and saw that they had a special where you get 2 glasses of wine, 2 pasta dinner entrees, and a dessert all for $50. Sweet, I thought there would have to be a catch. We went in and were seated and they immediately brought over the yummiest Italian bread. They had olive oil and balsamic there for you to dip in if you so choose. We asked about the special on the web and they said yes it was a valid offer. I was eyeing the pasta with Gorgonzola and was hoping to get chicken on it (thinking this would not be considered a "pasta" entree and I would have to pay more or it would apply to the web deal) to my surprise it was considered as a pasta entree. My husband got the same thing. Let me tell you it was hard to stop eating. They portion is generous and it is one of those meals where you tell your self ok only one more bite but then you continue to eat anyway and are so full... it is so worth it however. Finally the dessert. We had so many awesome options. We selected the cannoli and let me tell you it was delicious. I did not have any room for it but manages to get it in there somehow... How can you pass up cannoli. I urge you to go here if you haven't. You probably have driven by a million times if you are in Snoqualmie as it is easy to miss but make the time. Do your significant other a favor and check out Gianfranco's. You won't be disappointed.

I can't believe I have driven by so many times and missed this great place. This is a lovely date night place. The wait staff is funny, smart, and knows when to get out of the way and let you enjoy your food. And the food is very enjoyable. The flavors are distinct, simple, and lovely. The portions are large. Share a dish, or prepare to take some for lunch. But don't skip the dessert!

I can best describe the style of cooking here as delicate and intelligent. For Father's Day dinner we had two seafood pastas and a braised lamb shank, and they were cooked in radically different styles, very deliberately. The seafood, just barely cooked through, paired with light wine & tomato sauces, everything fresh-tasting, allowing the fresh clams and fish and mussels' tastes to be the star. Very lightly seasoned overall to allow that to happen. The lamb, though, braised till amazingly fork-tender, paired with blanched and crunchy veggies to contrast, cheesy golden potatoes to sop up the rich, decadent gravy made of red-wine and the lamb's braising juices. Heavy, heavy on the seasoning, and probably the best lamb I've tasted to date. A stark contrast to the light seafood pastas, but all of it masterfully done. I really got the sense that each element of each dish was well-thought out and executed just as well. Prices super reasonable, too. Come here for a special occasion!

We've been to Gianfranco's several times in the year since we've been in the East part of the Eastside. It is a small restaurant and usually busy on weekends. Ever since the first visit it is something we look forward to with more anticipation than almost anywhere else on our list. Our son loves their Aurora sauce so much that he will always have it even if he might ask for a different pasta than the usual offering. Daughter went for lasagna tonight and it was so pretty on the plate it was *almost* a crime to eat it. I've cut back on unintentional carbs such as pasta and potatoes so what could possibly be left in a fine Italian place? Possibly the best Caesar salad one could ask for. I happily took the $3 upgrade for smoked salmon and the portion was generous, filling, and every bite a happy one. Garlicky, but not overpowering, a little spice but just where it needed to be. A good Caesar is one of my favorite choices anytime and I'm a little miffed I didn't try it sooner. If it is a favorite of yours, this one is worth the effort. Everyone else was happy too, of course. Even though Gianfranco's has tons of good reviews, a little extra detail never hurts.

I had the cioppino which had a lot of shellfish and whitefish. It was pretty good with a decently spiced reddish broth. I ate all the seafood, but left some of the broth; if the broth had a little more substance I would have ate more. All in all it was pretty good, however. The wife had a custom whole wheat fettucini with chicken and various veggies (she couldn't eat it all since it was pretty big). I had one glass of house pinot grigio - fairly unremarkable. I would recommend this place. Personally, I would like just a plain old spaghetti and meatballs with a spicy red sauce; its not on the menu, but it sounded like they would pretty much make anything you want if they have it.

Dined here one cold evening in January. Nothing warms me up like delicious Italian food. This place is a sure winner. For a being in a small town, this place serves up some authentic food! Be aware, portions are HUGE and delicious. For our party of 3, we could have split up 2 dishes and maybe still had some left over. My son got the gnocci in the Aurora sauce - it was obviously fresh made from scratch and tasted ohhh so good! I was craving a heavy cream sauce so I ordered the Penne Gianfranco which was pasta in a Gorgonzola cream sauce - it was thick and delicious-a very heavy dish but oh so good! My husband ordered some special that was pasta in a spicy red sauce with meatballs and sausage which was then baked with a layer of cheese on top. The meatballs were enormous and there were 3 - one for each of us! The staff here are friendly, knowledgeable and service oriented. I'd recommend a reservation, we didn't have one but was still able to get a table because we came early. Its obvious that this place is a town favorite.

My wife and I decided to have dinner here after visiting the Snoqualmie falls on a Sunday evening. We both love Italian food. Gianfranco Ristorante was a huge let down. I visited here because of the reviews I had read. We ordered a pasta with Italian Sausages and the braised pork which was their special for the evening. Both the dishes were a let down and tasted a stale. We ordered the bread pudding for dessert which was a bigger let down than the dinner. It had a lot of cinammon and cream and didn't taste any good.

We didn't have a reservation but they were able to seat us right away. Service was attentive and the food was delicious. We were surprised with the generous portions. They have a good wine selection. The bread didn't seem fresh, it was dry. I would like to try them again the next time I'm in the area.

Very good, and some of the best gluten free pasta we've found. I've only eaten here a couple times, but I was thoroughly impressed both times.

My wife and I stayed at Salish Lodge for our anniversary, the lodge dining room is a bit pricey, so I looked for other dining options for the area and found Gianfranco. Booked a reservation for 7pm. We showed up pretty early for our reservation, and were told that we couldn't be seated before 7, no problem as we were the ones that were way early. The restaurant is pretty small, so we walked down a few doors and had a drink and came back. There was another couple waiting to be seated. Another waitress came up and said that we both had a reservation for 7 and who would like to be first, since they were standing there we said they could go first. They were seated and after a table was cleaned off, we were able to sit down at a table (my wife prefers a booth, but the table was in a little alcove and quite nice). The waitress that we had talked to when we first came in early came over and brought us a free appetizer for our wait, quite nice. She learned both of our names and used them throughout our dinner. I ordered off the special menu, rigatoni inferno. Rigatoni in bolognese sauce with meatballs and Italian sausage. My wife saw someone eating clams when we had come in earlier and ordered linguine clams. The rigatoni was amazing, 3 large meatballs, sliced sausage and the sauce all quite hot the entire time I was eating. I am a plate cleaner, I almost never take leftovers, if I can't finish a meal I usually eat all the meat out of it. There was no way I was finishing this dinner, I ate 1 1/2 meatballs and quite a bit of the sausage, about half the rigatoni and took the rest for later, which I unfortunately left in the fridge at the lodge. :( My wife's meal was equally good, she ate all her clams and left a little bit of noodle. We don't like crazy far away, maybe 60 - 75 minute drive. I said to my wife that I would drive there just to eat. It was so good, but definitely make a reservation!

This place is wonderful. The menu was created by a true Italian transplant from the Amalfie coast and it shows. We love to go here as a family. The food is excellent from the Caesar salad through the desserts. They have a short rib over polenta dish that is rich, decadent and so very worth every calorie. You can't go wrong with the classic pasta dishes either.

Good luck finding better Italian food between Seattle and Snoqualmie. Food is delicious and the portions are huge. A huge plus that they serve gluten-free pasta, so my wife with celiac can enjoy the pasta dishes as well. Service is also very good. Highly recommended for a delicious Italian meal.

This place is all about flavor and generous portions! I was skeptical at first when my cousin told us about Gianfranco Ristorante Italiano, I thought she was hyping us up. I ordered the prime rib in medium rare and it was the best steak I have ever had! I mean just filled with flavor! My cousin had the seafood pasta and the clams were cooked just perfectly! The owners were very nice and quick with service. I will be back for sure. The trek here was worth every penny.

5 for service! 5 for wine! Massive antipasto that we wish she'd have warned the two of us about (afterwards she said we could have gotten a half order) - it could have served 6 and so we had to put half of it in a box. We both ordered veal - my husband getting the marsala which was very good and for me I got the saltimbocca, which unfortunately put the emphasis on SALT :-(. It was so bad even with the prosciutto peeled off, I couldn't finish it. The veggies were good but the potatoes were slathered in a cream sauce which overwhelmed the already rich dish. Husband loved his but mine bummed me out. That being said everyone was SO nice and the atmosphere was great- if we're ever back we'll give it another try as I'm sure there's something else that'll be a better fit :)

This place is AMAZING! I have been here twice, and I feel like it just keeps getting better and better! The wine list is great, the appetizers are a good amount of food and the entree's are wonderful and filling. This is such a Gem in Snoqualmie. You won't be disappointed! It fills up on the weekends so I would recommend a reservation.

As the other reviews state, the service is great and the food is great. I got the ribeye and my wife got the penne Gianfranco! Their bread is fresh and delicious and we also shared a pumpkin creme brûlée for dessert....and it was amazing. One critique: they need to update the table clothes (vinyl) really that's the only thing I didn't like

Three of us chose this place based on the reviews and were extremely disappointed. The food (gnocchi with marinara, penne with Gorgonzola sauce, a shrimp scampi like dish, caprese salad) was mediocre at best and way over priced. The portions were huge, as others have commented, and I should have let that be my warning. Many diners prefer quantity to quality but I'd much rather have an awesome meal than a large take out container. None of us would go back under any circumstances.

Without any doubt "It's one of the best found restaurant on the go " .. We were visiting Snoqualmie Falls & wanted to have Italian for Lunch, YELP like always came to rescue .. Place seems like little crowded on a 1st glance as it's sitting capacity is less (May be around 30-35) so not recommended for groups .. Take one of those private booths & you will be fine .. Coming in to the best part - food , it's was really really Yummy-Licious !! Breads are fresh out of oven & service is quick .. Owner is so warm & welcoming .. She wears this great smile, even if she is passing by for going to other tables too .. Definitely in my list for next visit to Seattle :)

One of the best dining experiences we've had in Seattle area. The food was terrific. My wife is gluten free, and they have plenty of gluten free pasta's and options. recognizing my wife was undecided about which of the menu items would be best with the gluten free pasta options of the day, the server had the chef come out and talk to her about her likes and dislikes, and he suggested that instead of ordering off the menu, that she allow him to create a custom dish that better fit her preferences and dietary needs. She was thrilled and it started the dinner off fantastically. The pork shank was unbelievable, and the staff was amazing. The chef repeated came out to check and make sure we were happy and the servers were friendly, witty, and made sure we never were in need of anything. I will highly recommend this to anyone I encounter heading to the Snoqualmie area.

Gianfranco was the restaurant find of our vacation. We went there for the special of 2 glasses of wine, 2 pastas, and dessert for $50. The food was absolutely DELICIOUS!! Manicotti, meatballs and sauce were terrific. The portions were huge, and the dessert (we chose the cannoli) was incredible, the best cannoli ever!! The people who worked there were so friendly and made us feel special. In fact, we enjoyed it so much we went back the next day and tried the pizza. Since we are New Yorkers, we are always looking for good pizza. The crust on this pizza was so light, the cheeses and sauce were so tasty that by the time John, (our waiter) came by to check on us, (about 10 minutes later) it was already gone. He asked about us and found out we were leaving the next day and it was our anniversary, so he gave us a complimentary dessert!!! Gianfranco is a Snowqualmie JEWEL!!! Don't miss it!!!

Gianfranco Ristorante Italiano is AWESOME! We eat here often. The food is heavenly and the service is as good! The ambiance is warm and intimate. Make reservations as the restaurant is small but very popular.

Wow! If I put a one word review that is what I would say. But yelp wants more. So the food is great and the service is even better. Great place and we will come back. They will cater to allergies if you ask. They are great. I have lived in the valley for 10 years heard great things but this was out first time and not our last. Thank you.

We walked here from Salish Lodge during an anniversary-weekend escape. Gianfranco really is that good - wonderful staff, amazing food, great wine selection. They gave us a delicious dessert (Tiramisu) as a gift to celebrate our anniversary. Loved it all! Can't wait to return! Note: Having seen the excellent reviews, we did make reservations for a Friday night, and I am glad we did. Was packed with folks - local families and traveling couples - enjoying their offerings.

Amazing service and an amazing meal. Pork shank over polenta was outstanding, as was the shrimp ravioli. Our server went out of her way to be accommodating. When she says she knows her Pinot Grigio - take her advice! Kids loved it too.

In celebration of a birthday, we decided to try Gianfranco Ristorante Italiano in Snoqualmie. This is a small romantic restaurant seating maybe 30. The service was excellent - we never felt rushed, assistance was always available though never intrusive. I was surprised and pleased at the number of additional menu offerings over and above the regular menu. Menu selections seemed to be achievable for a small establishment. The entrees and sauces we had appeared to have been made from scratch and not reheated. The food was excellent. The wine list was varied and the selection offered seemed reasonable.

Went here with my husband while staying at Snoqualmie Lodge. The food was delicious and much more affordable than the lodge. We made reservations and they seated us right away. The wait staff was delightful. It has a very warm, family like atmosphere. Perfect for a romantic evening.

Stopped in for a bite, to kill time, so traffic could die down. Great idea, right? Have a leisurely yummy Italian dinner. No. We felt very rushed to eat and move on quickly. My food was boxed before I could say, "no, I'm still eating." Food was good. If you're going for the food, you will be ok. If you want a nice atmosphere and good service too, go somewhere else.

We enjoyed our experience immensely. From the greeting at the door to the farewell this experience was all class. Everyone who greeted or served us was friendly and attentive. The food was superior. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. They took care of every request all while also allowing us to have a great dinner with our daughter.

I do not know where to start with this. 1st off, wow. This place is AMAZING! They treat you like their your son/daughter. It's crazy! The meals are HUGE! Were talking Godzilla HUGE. You will have to take something home no matter what. The bread pudding is delish! The story of the resteraunt is great, the meals are great, the price is very reasonable, and the meals taste SOOO good! If you are visiting Snoqualmie, check this place out no matter what. I'm serious. Stop by here anytime. It's a great hole in the wall. Very small place but can seat 30-40 people. Reservations are accepted.

We met at Gianfranco last night for our monthly Girls Night Out. It was wonderful! The service was attentive to each of us even though we had a large group (ten gals). The wine, food, and desserts were all delicious! Can't wait to go back with my husband.

Cute little Italian place with cozy decor and relaxing music. Well-rounded menu offerings with additional specials. Service was friendly, but not very attentive- even on a slow night (my fiancé and I were the only clientele, which was a bit surprising given the high rating on Yelp). Our table was only visited once after our meals were delivered, so we did not get our drinks refilled... That said, my house-made gnocchi were VERY good; they were little pillows of deliciousness. I wish the bolognese sauce was as good as they were- it could have used more seasoning and they were pretty stingy with the amount (the ratio of sauce to gnocchi should have been way higher!). My fiancé's chicken Marsala had good flavor, but the accompanying potatoes needed some inspiration. Overall decent meal, but not amazing.

Hands down, the best Italian Restaurant of all Seattle, and surrounding cities. Consistent, delicious meals- just continue to delight. They offer a wonderful gluten free pasta. Their wine list is very impressive and well priced. Seriously - after eating at every Italian restaurant this side of the mountains- I'm done. This is it! Even our well mannered kids love this place. Homemade Delicious deserts too! The linguini contadina sauce should be world famous. My favorite is the chicken piccata. 5 stars after many many many visits. Thank you!

Definitely worth a stop if you are in the area/going to the casino for a concert. Decided to stop by after reading Yelp reviews and wasn't disappointed. Pros: Intimate dining room, pleasant friendly staff/service, yummy appetizers (did not order entrees). We ordered the Mozzarella Caprese and Bruschetta and both were delicious and brought out quickly since we were in a rush. Cons: Small dining area (may make an impromptu visit difficult) and only available parking (I'm aware of) is across the street.

I have lived in the area for 3 years and my biggest complaint is the lack of great places too eat. Not any longer, by far the best restaurant in the area without going to Bellevue. The food was amazing and the desert was great. Plus my to go order was hot and ready when they said it would be. I will definitely be eating here again and recommend to all. Food is great!

Five star service and food. We did not have a reservation and came in on a Saturday at 5PM with our family of 4. We must have gotten the last table because the couple that came in right after us was told there would be a half hour wait. When we left at 6PM, incoming people were told hour and half wait. Note: Make reservations! This place doesn't open until 4PM. Small, quaint and friendly restaurant with authentic food. I felt like I was back in Italy. The pizzas were huge. We ordered a regular size pizza for our two small kids and they didn't even eat half of it. The pizza itself was very much like the thin crust pizza that you get in Italy, Thin, simple and delicious. My husband and I split the Rigatoni Inferno. It was rigatoni in a bolagnese sauce with sausage and meatballs. These meatballs were the size if a fist or bigger. They were perfectly seasoned and delicious. The sauce was smokey and flavorful. Despite the name inferno in the name of this dish, I didn't find it the least bit spicy. IT was just very flavorful, filing and comforting. The portions were huge. One dish could have easily served four people. For all the people who complain about $20+ pasta dishes here, this is one of them but it feeds a small army. I am guessing there was at least $10 of meat alone in this one dish alone. Just go into this place knowing the portions are huge, almost family style and order accordingly. The service was great. We were told right away that if we didn't see what we were looking for on the menu for the kids that they would gladly make whatever it is they wanted and size if appropriately. We can't wait to come back and try more things on the menu.

A destination restaurant. Super cute location in quaint downtown North Bend. Fabulous cozy atmosphere inside, stellar friendly service, and amazing authentic Italian dishes. Hubby first went here on a work dinner (yes, made the trip "all the way from Seattle" with work folks!) and came home and said we have to go there. I agree. We've been on date night, and with our two kids and just love it. Great, reasonably priced wine list too.

In my view, the test of a great restaurant is whether you leave happy. By that standard, Gianfranco's earns 5 stars. I must admit that this is not a place that is on the culinary cutting edge, and you won't necessarily feel like you are eating ragu alla bolognese in Bologna. But Gianfranco's gets the essence of Italian cuisine: excellent ingredients, carefully prepared. More to the point, Leanne and Joseph, the owners (since Gianfranco retired) are on the job , and they care about the place, care about the food, and care about your experience. My wife and I each had a different style of tortellini, both excellent , so we can't vouch for the full menu. But we both left happy (and full ! ) and recommend this place unreservedly.

OMG some of the best food we have had in a long time! My husband and I like restaurants that are not chains. This did not disappoint . their service was great, the server was related to the owner and shared recipes' and where to buy the wine we had that evening. A must if you are going to the Snoqualmie area. Oh the bruschetta was killer!

Hidden gem in Snoqualmie near the Salish Lodge/Snoqualmie Falls. Great family owned place with awesome service. Portions are huge and tasty as well! My favorite dish was a special including Gnocchi with meatballs and a great meat sauce! + Great food with big portions! + Staff is super friendly and will always customize your owner to meet your needs + Love the family oriented business and knowing you are supporting them rather than a corporation - Pretty deep in Snoqualmie Tip: I heard this place is under new ownership and recommend ignoring some of the older reviews as it does not reflect this place accurately anymore.

This is a super cute little place and the staff here is very friendly. They made veggie minestrone per my request. My friend had their special - crab and shrimp stuffed ravioli with pesto. We enjoyed our dinner here and the local wine was a nice touch and quite tasty. I would definitely come back if I was back in town!

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
