Very tasty food . Good prices. Great customer service. What's not to like about this place? I went there with my family tonight and all of us left with pleasantly full bellies. The" cubano" sandwich, I think, took the cake but you miss out on the black beans and rice unless you order a side... very good. We also had the chicken sandwich and spicy tuna, all were delicious. Kind of ballsy opening a Cuban sandwich shop across the street from another well established stand, which kind of move drew me here...but this place has beer and takes credit cards, which makes it the winner for me. Definitely try this place out, you will not be disappointed!! I also didn't realize that they're closing time was about when we ordered... I didn't realize until looking here...which means we didn't get any of the passive aggressive" hurry up and get out" behavior you would usually catch when placing an order at closing time. Really nice people. *I'm not advocating going in there at closing time, just saying they're nice people that appreciate the business.

Delicious! Being cuban myself and growing up eating homemade cuban food in Miami, I'm so glad that someone decided to open a Cuban cafe with REAL Cuban sandwiches. The only difference between Geo's Cuban sandwich and what Im use to eating back home is that Geo really packs in the meat. I was only able to eat half the sandwich but oh well, that just means I have the other half left over for dinner tonight. :) Highly recommended!!!

Really good! When we got there for dinner, they were out of the first three sandwiches on the menu. We ended up getting gumbo and the steak sandwich, and they were both excellent. The steak was really tender and delicious. Be warned that a bowl of gumbo here is super filling! Half a sandwich and a cup of gumbo is probably more than enough for one person. The little patio in front is really cute, the staff are really nice, and it's great to have enough good restaurant in this area!

The first thing you notice is there are a few parking spaces in front but there is plenty of parking available on the side of the building which is easier to get in and out of. This place is very small inside but would be good if you were just a party of two. It was a bit loud at the time we were there and if it is loud there is always the patio outside which is where we chose to sit. There were no lunch specials which sort of was a bit of a bummer since the prices seemed very high for lunch. We decided to order a specialty sandwich, not the Cubano, and an entrée so we could get an idea of how good the food is. We ordered the El Caribe sandwich for $9.50 and the Puerco Asado plate with black beans, white rice, Cuban slaw and Maduros fried plantain slices for $12.00 First of all, the Sandwich was fantastic, the balance of flavors was perfect and all of the ingredients worked well together. For the money they should throw in a few Maduros or fried yuca. :D A perfect sandwich! Sadly, the Puerco Asado on the other hand was not as good as the sandwich. The meat was too dry for my taste which took away from the flavor. The Maduros were perfect. They tasted exactly as they should with that wonderful sweet fried taste. The Cuban slaw was okay but the tomatoes were somewhat soggy. The black beans and rice were on par with the black beans and rice at other Cuban places. Here is my biggest pet peeve... There was no pressed Cuban bread with my meal. I figured the they were going to bring some out, but no such luck. I actually went inside and her back was turned to me and I said excuse me 4 times but she never heard me, (due to the noise) so I went back out without my bread. I saw on the sign it's $2.00 for a side of Cuban bread! Maybe I could do without the slaw or even the rice but there should be an option to replace something with bread... I was really in the mood for pressed Cuban bread!! :( If you don't mind paying the price for lunch, then come get a sandwich!

Came in on a quiet Monday. The place has a small parking lot which is a bonus. I ordered a cup of gumbo and the puerco asado plate. The gumbo was solid. It had a scoop of white rice inside. There was small kick in the gumbo but that was expected. The puerco asado plate had slow roasted pulled pork, rice, black beans and a slaw. The rice and beans had really good flavors. The rice was cooked nicely. The pulled pork had a nice crust on parts of it. The pork was juicy and tender and felt kind of buttery. You bus your own tables which isn't ever an issue for me. The restaurant has a limited amount of tables and has some outside seats. Overall, this is a solid restaurant.

food is tasty, much better than paseo or un bien. the flavors jump out and the bread used for the sandwiches has a thin crispy crust and soft interior. The sauces are great and plentiful. sandwiches are great and the gumbo too. The location is a little outside of the mainstreet of ballard but not hard to get to and the restaurant is uncrowded with no waiting. Can get the food to go and eat at the nearby ballard locks.

Pretty solid spot for some Cuban food. The gumbo was delicious and it had a nice spicy kick to it. The shrimp po'boy was really flavorful. I was anticipating deep fried shrimp but instead they were pan fried with a ton of different spices. The regular Cuban sandwich was pretty good as well though the pork was kind of dry. Definitely recommend the gumbo if not one of their signature sandwiches.

There has been a LOT of hubbub since the shock of Paseo's closing. Baleful prose all over social media and now there is a kickstarter budgeted for a quarter of a million dollars in the hopes that they can revive a beloved Seattle institution. All I could think was, really Seattle? Really?! How about visiting a place that's been quietly serving actual Cuban food since August of 2013 with a solid five-star rating? How about patronizing a place that seems to take care of their workers AND that makes legitimate Cuban food! The prices are excellent and the food is spectacular. When the weather is cold (like now), you can't go wrong with their quimbombó, a Cuban version of gumbo with chicken, Andouille, okra, peppers, and finished with a scoop of white rice. And if the weather is warm (like it will be again one day), their chicken and black bean salad will hit the spot! The salad has crisp lettuce, ripe tomatoes, sliced red onion, avocado and that wonderfully prepared chicken tossed in their house vinaigrette dressing and sprinkled with black beans. Truly, that chicken is moist and flavourful without being dry, like chicken is prone to do. And the sandwiches. THOSE SANDWICHES! Geo's cooking skills are legit. His love of cooking began with helping his abuela and father back home in Cuba. He went to culinary arts school and since relocating to the States in 2005, has logged time in several in acclaimed local kitchens. My husband and I have been steadily going for his amazing food since February of 2014. Every time we bring new customers with us, Geo comes out to greet us and meet them. It's that level of customer service (and that food!) that kept us coming back again and again. Thank you Geo for sating this Filipina's crave for pork and for continuing to cook quality food at an affordable price. I hope y'all remain open for years to come.

El Cubano y Pan con Bistec eran bastante deliciosa!!!! Checked this place out for the first time and it is a nice little cafe place. It's across the street from the now closed Paseo's- Ballard location. Parking is pretty much street parking but there is a lot next door but not sure if it's private or not. Was greeted by a nice, friendly gentleman that was eager to help or explain any questions. I typically try the Cuban sandwich and Pan Con Bistec sandwiches as my gateway dish. I was torn on which one to get, so I got both. About $9 bucks a sandwich. I came in after the lunch hour and only took about 5 minutes or so to make it for me. It's a small café with about 7 tables with some cool Cuban artwork on the walls, clean and bright place to have a lunch. As for the food.....Cuban sandwich was good, pulled roasted pork that was cooked up on the flat top to get a little crust to it, ham, swiss, pickles and mustard on Cuban bread. Pretty darn good. It had plenty of meat and was a thick sandwich! I wish they would flatten it a little more as I like mine super flat. Maybe I can request that next time. Pan con Bistec is a steak sandwich. I think this was slightly more flavorful than the Cuban. Grilled pieces of marinated steak with grilled onions with some garlic aioli with romaine. Not a pressed sandwich. I think they forgot the papas fritas inside as I don't remember any crunch. But nevertheless it was tasty! I'll be back to try some other things, such as their entrees and coffees. I do want to try their cortadito as I didn't see a cafecito on their menu.

I have been obsessed with Cubano sandwiches for about a year or so. Pretty strange for a chick who doesn't like pork. My husband surprised me with a lunch date to Geo's. It was so good. Solid, huge sandwichs. So tasty and crispy. I will definitely be back.

I am really remiss that it took my local sandwich shops closing for me to find this gem. Geo's has a large selection of sandwiches and Cuban sides to enjoy. While the place is small the employees are very friendly and personable. Coming here for a Friday lunch the place was packed with regulars all having a late breakfast. It will probably be much less crowded when the crowds can expand to their quaint deck. The Press and the Tribute were our runaway favorites. They were reminiscent of another famous shops sandwiches but served on bread that is much softer and easier to eat. The Po' Boy was interesting the shrimp weren't fried but were well spiced. I have a problem with using recognizable names to mis-represent food so this one was a little disappointing. The saddest part of our meal was the Traditional Pan con Lechon, this was the sandwich we were most looking forward to! While it was flavorful it was so dry it was almost inedible. All in all they make some amazing sandwiches and some mediocre ones. I will be back for a Press and some crispy tostones soon.

I've traveled the world and eaten many great things in my 49 years and I have to say this place blew my socks off. Unbelievable sandwich. Pan Con Lechon. Slow roasted pork with a spicy mayo, lettuce and a few other goodies on there. It's a massive sandwich too. Fast casual place next to Rays Boathouse. A few tables inside and a few on the deck out front. They have cold beer too and what a way to wash down that world class Sammie. 2 thumbs way up.

Usually restaurants tend to slide in quality. Geo's is one of the exceptions; the food has just gotten even better over time. Our boat was recently moored in Shilshole and we had the opportunity to eat at Geo's three days in a row. I finally tried the Pan con Bistek with cheese. HOLY CRAP! This is my new favorite sandwich, bar none. My partner doesn't even like beef and she was totally into this sandwich. She ordered the omelette sandwich and that was also a filling, delicious breakfast sandwich. Sure, there are other good sandwiches in town, but for total quality, Geo's still beats them all.

This place is virtually across from the currently shuttered Paseo. The soup was advertised as Chicken with Vegetable and Noodles and that's what it was, a complex chicken soup with chilis and tomatoes in the broth and some spaghetti thrown in for bulk. It was the best soup we tasted in some time. We followed the soup with the Shrimp Po Boy and the Traditional Lechon. Both were excellent if a little dry. The Lechon had pork cracklings which gave the sandwich an extra crunch. The po boy was loaded with shrimp and nicely slathered with a nice aioli. A little more grease would help both sandwiches but that's our only suggestion. This is a great family-run business that should be on everyone's to-do list!

  • Weston R.

Food this delicious should take longer to prep. And it does. But that's not between ordering and eating. The slow roasted pork is delicious and the cubano is perfection. First time visiting, definitely going back.

This place is about as far away from Cuba as you can get in the continental U.S. But the cubano sandwich is worth the trip. The pork is delicious. The gumbo is good too, I've had better, but it is good. This is a great little place for some out of the ordinary food.

What a great, unique place. They offer a variety of Cuban style sandwiches and select entrees as well. The flavors are very pronounced and incredibly unique. Aside from Paseo, I haven't really seen too many Cuban options so this was a refreshing stop. It's a small place located on a dock area. It would be nice if they were facing the water. I'm coming back to try another sandwich!

We were making use of our City Pass in Seattle and had a craving for Cuban food. We looked in Yelp and located this place. It was a bit of a drive from downtown Seattle, but we didn't care. My wife and I absolutely loved the place. The chef is Cuban himself and very knowledgeable in Cuban food. We asked to talk to him and he was really nice. We had a Palomilla Steak, tostones and a Cuban sandwich. Really tasty all of them. After the food we enjoyed a Cortadito (Cuban express coffee). Amazing experience. Can't wait to be back.

Craving a Cuban sandwich, but not quite enough to wait in an hour-long line at Paseo? Just a few doors down is Geo's Cuban and Creole Cafe, which offers deliciously messy, meaty sandwiches and other Cuban specialties without the wait. There's a small patio for outdoor dining, but the weather wasn't quite nice enough when we were there, so we sat in the smallish indoor dining area (just a handful of tables). It's nicely painted and decorated with art and knick-knacks. Order at the counter and your food will be brought out to you. The fluffy tostones come piping hot with garlic aioli and Geo's spicy Cajun mayo for dipping, a good appetizer for two to share. The pan con bistek is a must-try, stuffed with tender strips of marinated sirloin, sauteed onions, and spicy sauce on Cuban bread. You can also buy their house-baked Cuban bread to take with you for snacking on later. Cilantro haters, they'll work with you to figure out a sandwich you can eat without that soapy aftertaste. It seems to be owned by a husband-wife team, both of whom were there that day. The wife was friendly and helpful, answering questions about the menu and recommending dishes. The husband was working back in the kitchen, but popped his head out to ask how we liked our food. A cute and friendly place, and one we'd probably go to a lot more often if it were closer to us!

Whether this is better than Paseo's or not, I don't know. The last time I had Paseo was about 2 years ago. But I do know this, the Pan Con Lechon is something worth bragging about. The pork was probably slow cooked because it was really juicy. A little heavy on the mayo sauces so I'd ask for light sauce next time. If some crunchy pork skin somehow snuck into this in the future, I definitely wouldn't complain. :) I love the small mom and pop, not so tourist trap feeling to this place. If you're staying in downtown, it's quite far away. You'll definitely need a car. I would imagine the cab ride to be $25-$30 each way.

Was going to the Ballard Locks and my friends and I wanted something other than Asian or American type fare and saw Geo's so we decided to try it out. The sandwiches were pretty tasty and the maduros were cooked well. I had the lechon sandwich that was really good. Definitely, have to go back.

Such a tasty place! Thoroughly enjoyed the Tribute sandwich in comparison to a paseo's sandwich. It was just as messy but definitely tastier. Perfect size for a meal. Will have to go back to try all their other great sandwich options!!

Honestly you can get anything from here and you will be happy. I get anything with pork. I have had a couple times when I purchased a sand that wasn't all that great, but it's rare. We eat here almost weekly, so a couple out of a ton is fine and doesn't change this to a four star.

Thought I'd give Geo's a try yesterday for lunch. Nobody was inside although we were there at a weird time of day (hard location being across from Paseo where there was a line of 50 deep), but they had good reviews and I'm glad we came. Quaint little spot with seating both inside and out. I ordered the Slow Roasted Ribs which usually sell out so I was glad I got to try them (and they did end up selling out while we were still there) . Those came with a couple slices of muduros, cuban style slaw, and a mix of rice and beans. I'm usually not a fan of slaw but I really liked theirs. It was crunchy, tangy and refreshing. The ribs were flavorful but a little dry to my taste. Wished there were more muduros on the plate as I love them. My husband ordered the Cubana sandwich and it was overflowing so a little hard/messy to eat. I really liked the few bites I had - never would have thought to combine ham with pork it worked well together. Service was very friendly and fast, prices were $8.50-$13ish, so not bad at all! I will definitely be coming back soon to try some other items on their menu that I was salivating over just thinking about.

When Paseo closed it's door a few months ago, I immediately took to the internet to find a replacement. Geo's came up on almost every list I saw. I ordered the Caribbean Press and I have to say I liked it more than the Paseo Press. The only gripe I had about Paseo was that my sandwiches always seemed a little dry. I can't say the same for Geo's. It packed just as much flavor as Paseo and the meat was so juicy. In fact my sandwich squirted juice everywhere on my first bite. It was messy and hard to eat (nobody else I was with had much trouble maybe I'm just bad at eating sandwiches), but that made devouring it even more satisfying. Geo came out after our meal to asked how everything tasted. And he laughingly brought me more napkins after seeing the mess I had made. Definitely a place I would come back to again.

It's not even sad that Paseo isn't open in Ballard anymore. Service was great, food even better. The tribute sandwich was delicious...lean pork, perfectly grilled onions, jalapeños. Drip down your hands messy. Nice little patio, perfect breeze, and Cuban music. Not much more to ask for!

Less noticed but an authentic Cuban restaurant. The rice and beans was amazing and the bread with the sauces still makes my mouth water when u think about it.

Stopped in here after a day of sailing. Had the cheesesteak and creole slaw, with a side of fried plantains. The creole slaw was the standout. Light, tangy and fresh with pepperoncinis and a vinaigrette instead of mayo. I could have eaten it all day long. The cheesesteak was warm and filling, good comfort food but not life changing. The plantains were also really good, smashed instead of sliced so they had the consistency of latkes and went nicely with the fry sauce. I was also happy to find out they serve cider in addition to beer. Nice outdoor seating as well.

Amazing sandwich! Little pricey ($10) but well worth it! The outside seating is nice and restraint is very clean and well maintained. Service was fast as well. Will return and Would highly recommend.

Paseo closed....what were we going to do? When we first moved to the area we got sucked into the Paseo fad by the lines of people and the fact the Paseos was so confident in its market that it did not even have a sign up telling you the name of the place at the Seaview ave location. It turns out that right across the street is a better place with more genuine Cuban sandwiches and other Cuban specialties. I grew up in Miami. Well, some might say I never really grew up but at least I can lay claim to passing those years, when you are supposed to grow up, in Miami. Miami is now one of the more upscale suburbs of Havana. The Cuban food is excellent and especially the Cuban bread. Geos Cuban sandwiches are the real deal. Paseo's were OK but very greasy and much more teriaki intense than any Cuban sandwich I ever had in Miami. My first wife was una Cubana. One of her better features was her Abuela who had been born in Spain, migrated to Cuba and 13 years of age and grew up learning how to crank out the best Cuban food I have ever had. The tostones at Geo's are as good as those that Abuelita made. I am usually put off by restaurants that advertise they specialize in two cuisines. This aversion was because of an unpleasant experience in San Jose, CA at a place that did Chinese and Mexican. What was I thinking? Anyway, Geos does Cajun too and I was pleased and surprised to find that their Gumbo is excellent. Many times restaurant gumbo is grossly overcooked by the time it comes to the table. Geo's was not. The vegetables were still a little crunchy and the gumbo had a nice bite. We are looking forward to testing out the rest of Geo's menu soon.

  • Jillian R.

I don't know how they can make gumbo light and hearty at once but they do. It's incredible. AND THEY MAKE ALL THEIR OWN BREAD FRESH ON SITE EVERY DAY! I had one of the most incredible sandwiches of my life there. The meat was lightly salty with a hint of lime, bread moistened just enough. It was their classic Cubano. I had their signature coffee and what a treat! Lightly sweet and creamy yet strong and not too foo foo. It's all made to order with the exception of the soup which is made fresh for lunch and dinner. It's a small place with a small parking lot but it's darling and right near the marina. It's worth the trek. Trust me: friendly, great atmosphere and incredible food. They also have beer and wine!!

This place is SO good. I have tried quite a few things from their menu, the steak melt is BOMB DIGGITY, the prawn sandwich is scrumdiddlyumptious and their chicken salad with black beans and avocado ALWAYS hits THE SPOT. Underappreciated and so worth the trip. Glad they are no longer in the shadow of Paseos and everyone who visits Golden Gardens can now know what authentic Cuban food tastes like. Two thumbs way up.

I've only visited Florida once, and my intro to Cuban food was the deli section of a Piggly Wiggly in Ft. Lauderdale which sold Cuban sandwiches. The sandwiches looked a bit icky, so I passed. On a tour of Miami, we were taken to a joint that served fried plantains. They were somewhat unremarkable, so I gave the rest to a couple of German tourists who have probably never seen a plantain and were too cheap to order their own. That being said, I have never had any good Cuban food, in spite of once visiting the home turf of Gloria Esteban. I was reluctant to go to the place across the street on account of all the lemmings lined up there and also the reviews that stated that it was disappointing and not authentic. Both are in the neighborhood, but I took on Geo's because of the good reviews from former Floridians. Yes the food is good. Very good. I have nothing to compare it to, but it's worth the trouble to get here. Nice, quiet, no lines. Great food, reasonable prices. What more do you need?

Geo's Cuban & Creole Cafe is amazing! The interior is bright and beautiful. The lady behind the counter was extremely welcoming and very good at her job. The food is fantastic. I just moved to Ballard and am slowly trying out new places during my lunch breaks. I was able to order online through Eat24 and when I walked in my food was ready for me. I ordered teh Cubano Sandwich and it was delicious. It is so large that I was able to save half of it for my lunch tomorrow. I am never a large fan of Cuban sandwiches, but after reading some of the reviews, I thought I would give it a try. I was not led astray. I am happy about my decision to try out Geo's and their Cuban Sandwich. Hats off to Geo's. This will be a great little place that I will take my friends and family to when they come to visit.

The following review was crafted by my 11 year old son using his Spanish: "Geo's esta un resturante con personas con un corazon de oro. La comida esta rico, con un verdad sabor de Cuba. Me recomiendes el Lechon tradicional. El sabor es como nada que que comen en su vida." Well, there you have it. A great place, whatever your chosen language. Postscript: Concerned over what his teacher might think, my son wanted to fix a few grammatical errors that he was certain existed, but I told him that this is social media and it's about speed, not grammar.

Great casual lunch spot with outdoor patio seating. My gf and I ordered the cubano, gumbo, and pan con lochon and every item was delicious! The bread for the cubano was exactly the same as the cubanos I had in Havana. However, the pork, ham, and cheese were better quality than what I found in Cuba. The gumbo was flavorful and the okra was perfectly cooked. Sometimes okra can be a little slimy but that was not the case at Geo's. Pan con lochon sandwich was very flavorful with the same roast pork as the cubano but with a spicy mayo and chimichurri like spread. Overall, we had friendly service, well priced and delicious food! We will be back!

Good spot with nice owner. I would caution against getting most items as they have been dry or overcooked, but there are a few stand outs including the ribs and shirmp (which are 5 star).

This is a cute little place for a Sunday afternoon lunch. We looked specifically for a lunch spot in Ballard that was not seafood. Awesome find! I ordered the Traditional Lechon because of the chicharons, oh my gosh it was so good! The pork was so tender, it had the right amount of fat and the bread was so soft and fresh. My husband had the gumbo and Lechon entree and my son had the vegetarian sandwich, both of them thought they were well made. The service was friendly and we were happy to have scored a seat inside. I see this place getting packed on a Summers day, but it clears out pretty quickly. I definitely will return.

Yep. Authentic Cuban and it's delicious. I will probably never wait in the super long Paseo line ever again. Don't get me wrong paseo is good, but it's not 100% Cuban nor is it worth a ridiculously long wait. Head across the street to Geo's and order pretty much anything on the menu and I'm sure it won't disappoint. And as a bonus, the service is stellar and the owner is incredibly nice- he gave us a free dessert!

Oh wow! I was impressed with this small sandwich shop. My friend and I shared the Cubano sandwich and each had a cup of gumbo. The food was amazing! I drove 40+ miles to get to this place and it was worth the drive! The only downside is there are very few tables inside and only a few more outside. Eat in your car if you have to!

We came up upon Geos on our cycle ride from Gasworks Park to Golden Gardens. We originally thought that this was Paseo, to our surprised after we ordered the owner informed us It wasn't Paseo. He was great, the staff was efficient. Had the traditional pork sandwhich. It was super moist and so much MEAT!!! Wanted to give 5 stars but my meat was a little bland. I expected popping, exotic Cuban flavor. I will try it again soon.

Stopped in here for lunch last week and took advantage of the check-in discount. The girl working the register was super nice and so was Geo. The Pan Con Lechon is hands down the best sandwich in Seattle! If you love roast pork, you owe it to yourself to eat this sandwich. It belongs in my top ten list of best sandwiches I've ever had in my life. The fried Tostones were cooked perfectly and the dipping sauces were both flavorful and crazy tasty. The Cuban Slaw was the one let down. The light oil dressing just wasn't to my liking. The other two items were just so spectacular in comparison so my decision to add something green and healthier to my lunch was a mistake. I'm looking forward to trying more stuff from the menu though and I'm so happy to see another great restaurant down near Golden Gardens Park.

I really wanted to love this place, but unfortunately I just couldn't. We ordered 2 sandwiches to go and waited over 30 min to receive them. Not a big deal. I've definitely waited longer for a quality sandwich (I ordered the Shrimp Po Boy.) However, when I unwrapped my food about a minute after receiving it, the bread was already incredibly soggy, honestly to the point where it was mushy. The flavor combination of everything together on the sandwich was so unappetizing. For some reason it was served with avocado, romaine and sweet pickles which is not reflected on their menu online (I knew what I wanted to try before I arrived so maybe this was my fault for not double checking their menu board.) Regardless, the sandwich was so bad I couldn't even finish it. I ended up picking out the shrimp which by itself wasn't terrible. I'm giving this two stars instead of one only because the people working here were very sweet, and after giving poor feedback they offered me a sandwich on the house next time. Overall though, the food just didn't live up to expectations. Not even close.

Growing up in Miami, I can safely say this place is the real deal. I've been there twice, ordered the Pan con Lechon and the Palomilla cheesesteak and both are incredible. Do yourself a favor and order the Cafe con Leche too.

Stopped here on fluke but soooo glad we did! The traditional lechon sandwich is amaze balls!! The lechon and the chicharone they add is hella crispy and spot on. We also had the tostones, which came out piping hot! The service is great as well. The owner came out to talk to us and make sure we were all taken care of. We will definitely be back! Thank you Geo's!!

I arrived at Geo's based, once again, on Yelp reviews. It was a gray Feb. day and a little Cuban warmth seemed in order. The beginning was not auspicious. It seemed the pork shoulder wasn't ready yet so two of the sandwich selections ( the ones I was interested in), were not available. Ok, I'm flexible, so I went with the Cubano sandwich. Retreating a bit. On entry I first noticed that this place smells terrific! I was also surprised to see that beer and wine was available. Not what I expected from a hole in the wall lunch spot. But the menu listed breakfast meals, sandwiches, espresso and plates so suffice to say I underestimated the place. My sandwich was excellent. Not to greasy or moist with great flavors and texture. Cuban sandwiches are made in a lot of places and I'm always on the lookout for good ones. Geo's Makes Very Good ones. Once I finished the chef came out to ask how my meal was and apologize for not having everything listed on the menu available. Very friendly staff. Just plain nice folks. Try it.

I read the reviews, signed up for the drive and then enjoyed the best lunch I've had in ages! The roux in the gumbo was rich and delicious and we split the Pan Con. Can't wait to go back and try some other sandwiches and leave room for the plantains! Friendly staff.

Found out about this place from others reviews and decided to give it a shot. Very glad we did! The cuban was one of the best outside of florida, absolutely delicious! Would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for some of the best sandwiches around.

This place was quite the find. Not only do they have the best Cuban sandwich I've ever had, it's quite possibly the best sandwich I've ever had! I've been here several times and the quality has been consistent. My favorite sandwich is the Pan Con Lechon, which was recommended to me by Geo himself. If you want a good intro to this place, try the Pan Con Lechon. You know when Andrew Zimmern tries something awesome, he shakes his head and can only say "wow, just wow"? Yeah, that was me. This sandwich has gotten everything right. I'm not going to bother addressing the elephant in the room (or rather, across the street). This is a hot spot in its own right. You want the best Cuban sandwich in Seattle? Right here. This is the place. Tip: Holy crap. You can buy the bread to take home. It even comes with that awesome sauce!

Don't think I've had a better cuban. Who knew a side of gumbo was the perfect sidekick. Everything we ordered was outstanding.

I've been coming here since thy opened. No longer spending as much time in Seattle but for the Pan Con Lechon Sandwich, it's worth the visit. Sure, They've got a great Cubano too but the flavors and sauce on the Pan Con Lechon Sandwich have my vote for best sandwich in Seattle. Part of their growing pains never included they quality of the food here!

Here's how I feel about Geo's: I kept telling some friends about the awesome sandwiches, until I finally got them to come with me down to their location across from Paseo in Ballard. We were planning to grab some sandwiches and head out to Golden Gardens. I was so disappointed when we found Geo's to be closed, because the only option in the vicinity was now Paseo across the street. Yes, that's right, Paseo is the LESSER sandwich shop, in my opinion. Compounding that was waiting for 30 minutes for our sandwiches only to find that they (Paseo) had RUN OUT OF BREAD. So now I waited a half hour and ended up with a take-out tray with some tired looking roasted pork, a small scoop of rice and a wilted lettuce leaf. Definitely not feeling the Paseo's mystique now. Frankly, I didn't enjoy the pork sandwich I got there previously anyway. Mostly hype... Though comparisons can be made, this is a review for Geo's. Their Cuban sandwich is awesome and from what I have gleaned, one of the most authentic around. I also had the marinated chicken sandwich, which was excellent. For my money, I'll pick Geo's every time. But obviously, I wish they were open a little later than 4 PM (on weekdays)! They seemed to be working on the small deck in front last time I was there, so that will be a very nice spot for lunch outdoors, when the weather is better. I haven't tried their other fare yet, but plan to...

Didn't want to wait an hour for the famous place across the street so we came here. The pan con bistek was a great sandwich but I wouldn't recommend the ribs. They only give you three and they were just okay. Would recommend as a sandwich alternative though and the service was fast and friendly!

The greatest Cuban style sandwiches around! The pulled pork was magnificent. The beans and rice would make a wonderful meal in itself. The Cuban slaw is fresh and has just the right amount of lime. The plantains were cooked perfectly. The gumbo is fantastic. How could you go wrong here? Friendly service, no pretense, comfortable seating inside and out, no long lines, and no long wait for food. The prices are very reasonable and there's a delightful variety to the menu. Everyone else around us was raving about their food, too. The owner is a prince!

I think about the food from Geo's quite a lot when I'm not even there, it is so spectacular. I leave there feeling great, like i have just eaten food that is prepared with love, and the happy food buzz lasts for hours. My partner gets to witness this phenomenon for the next 36 hours..."wow, that was a good sandwich...those ribs mmmm", its like being under a spell which i am happy to be under. And the owners and staff are all lovely people who are approachable and kind. Nice job on this restaurant--highlight of Ballard.

Found this little gem today, and the food did not disappoint! It's a little dive, you could miss it if you are driving by and...blink! Walked in to the delicious aromas of Cuban food, ordered the pan con lechon and Marquita's, superb! Almost did not want to review because next time we may have to stand in line, when the folks across the street at Paseo, figure out that Geo's is more authentic and has the better "Cubano"!

Food tasted amazing! We had a Cuban sandwich, the order of Ribs and the camarones ajil. Some of the best Cuban cuisine in western washington for sure!! The facility was clean which is very important in my opinion, shows how the kitchen is maintained and how the food your going to eat is handles. The Restuarant is nicely decorated, staying true to the Caribbean roots. Staff was friendly and informative of menu items. The cook came out to check on how the food was also which says a lot! (They care what they serve)! Definitely or new fave spot to eat!

So good we ordered dinner to take home while we were finishing lunch! Had the traditional Lechon. The pork was tender and tasty, the bread was soft inside and just a little crispy outside. The owner was there and obviously cares about what he's doing. Cu

What a great find in Ballard. Low key with friendly service; the rib dinner was excellent. They have done a great job remodeling the inside. I'll look forward to the deck in the summer.

Great spot with great food. Bistek was delicious, everyone working there was great and friendly, and on top of that, the girl at the register was really cute...

Great new addition to the Neighborhood. Between Geo's and "the other Cuban sandwich shop across the street", Seaview Ave is becoming the little Havana of Seattle. The New owner has done a great job of fixing up the old coffee shop and making it into his own space. I've yet to eat anything off the menu that is not wonderful. Highly recommended.

This is my first ever restaurant review, so go easy on me. I came in here a few weeks ago, or month and a half or so... my review is long overdue. However, I had such a pleasant and memorable experience. I just had to register on Yelp to send some love to the owners. I took my girlfriend out for a date night on a Sunday around 4 p.m. Being the bonehead that I am I forgot Geo's switched to winter hours. They were literally closing up when we got in. The owners were so very nice and welcoming they invited us to stay anyway. We bought the Palomilla Steak and Cuban Style Sow Roasted Ribs. Everything was SO FRESH and the meat was so lean with little fat. I'm just still drooling over how delicious everything was! The rice and various side sauces were extremely flavorful as well. This Cuban place seriously tastes better than some 5 star restaurants my girlfriend has DEMANDED I take her to. The owners were very talkative and just so very sincere. I truly hope others can enjoy this place as much as we did. Bathrooms were really clean too. The venue is tiny, but I personally enjoy the small intimate setting it brings. Pretty romantic date spot after a hang out sesh in Golden Gardens... I will come again! A++

All I can say is WOW! I'm a die hard Paseos fan and my new favorite is right across the street! AND they have breakfast and amazing Cuban coffee! This is a must try... But be warned you'll be a convert just like me!

I love Peseo's and was recommended to try Geo's. The bread is authentic Cuban bread and the pork is melt in your mouth. The sauce(s) were delicious. The cilantro aioli a is fantastico. A must and NO LINE!!!

I live just across the road from Geo's, and they are fantastic. My favorite is the spicy tuna sandwich, but the ribs are also excellent. If you're looking for a nice place to grab a sandwich or your morning coffee and snack, give this place a shot.

We originally were planning on eating at Paseo's, but as usual the line was long, it was raining and I was starving. We decided to go across the street to Geo's. I am so glad we tried it! I had the Traditional Pan Con Lechon. My fiancé had the Pan Con Lechon which had grilled onions, lettuce and a spicy aioli. Both were delicious! They were filled with flavorful pulled pork and delicious aioli on a huge homemade fresh Cuban bun. Mine had little bits of some crunchy deliciousness that tasted sort of like pork rinds. I would definitely recommend trying this place out. We'll be back to try the steak, ribs and fried plantains.

Stopped here today to order lunch for the office! Without preordering for eight, they did very well getting our order out quickly. The food was great! I enjoyed the sauces that came on the pork sandwich. Great lunch spot

Geo has the hutzpah to offer a traditional Cuban menu across the street from Ballard Paseo. Good for him! I had the cortadito (coffee drinkers--if you don't know what this is, find out. Fast!) Rice and beans, both components cooked perfectly - always the sign of a good chef. Plantain chips - amazing, with house made aiolis to boot. The cubano, made perfectly with soft, crusty traditional Cuban bread. All of this in a warm cozy interior with the owner and chef Geo to make you feel right at home.

Geo's is authentic Cuban (as authentic as it can get, being in the NW). If you're deciding between Geo's and that other so-called "Cuban sandwich" place across the street, there is no contest for authenticity. That other place, which shall remain nameless, uses freaking jalapeños on their "Cuban" sandwiches! Arrggggggh. Back to Geo's. PROS: -fantastic AUTHENTIC food -great bread -very friendly service, especially from the owner, Geo CONS: -It's a small place, so there are somewhat limited seating options

The food was delicious and authentic Cuban unlike other places like Paseo. The traditional sandwich was very good, highly recommended. They also make fresh bread which you can buy separately if you feel like taking some home.

Geo's Cuban and Creole did a great makeover of the former Purple Cow. Vibrant color palette. Here's the basics: Located diagonal from Paseo and their hours are 7AM-5PM, has street parking, accepts debit/credit cards, has indoor and outdoor seating, and also check their Facebook page for any updates. Decided to snag a college friend to soak up the last of the summer season sunshine and check out Geo's for lunch. We were pleasantly greeted as soon as we entered the tiny restaurant. We both had ice water (but note that they do have other beverages, including beer, wine, and espresso) and gumbo. College friend had the pan con lechon sandwich and I had the Cubano. I'm usually partial to jambalaya, but the gumbo was outstanding! The flavor was balanced and had ample amounts of chicken, sausage, and okra. Just enough heat to take notice, but not overpowering all the other complex flavors. Next time I will have a larger portion of the gumbo - it was that good! College friend clearly enjoyed both the gumbo and pan con lechon, but I can tell she's still a strong fan of Paseo across the street. I liked the Cubano and clearly Geo's knows how to deal with pork. The bread was perfect (liked the demo by the front counter) and clearly baked locally as we saw a box load being brought in. Contents included tender pork, ham slices, cheese, mustard, and pickles. They were generous with the contents because the meat kept squeezing out - had to eat the rest with a fork. And very filling, because I had to take the other half home. However, I would have preferred a longer time with the plancha (or panini grill or foil wrapped brick, whatever) get that sandwich flattened more and grilled longer. And raise the quality of the ham to match the outstanding pork plus more restraint with the mustard. Lose the potato chips and maybe substitute authentic tostones with aioli dipping sauce on the side. The pluses are the bread and the pork - having the rest of the components raised to that level, then Geo's would have nailed it perfectly. I like how Geo's is proximate to the well-established Paseo. Competition is good and what sets them apart is the availability of breakfast/brunch and espresso items in addition to their menu. We stayed awhile outside and noticed that they do a decent takeout and there were several people who dined there after us. Clearly the word is getting out and they have become a welcomed addition to the Ballard - Shilshoe area. While they aren't at the level of the closed Paladar Cubano formerly in North Seattle/Aurora or Mojito Café in the mash up neighborhood of Maple Leaf/Lake City/Roosevelt, Geo's Cuban and Creole is much better than my experience at Café Con Leche in SoDo. Three stars for today's experience, but raised to four stars because of the warm, personable service. I'll be back definitely for the gumbo and to try other tempting menu items, like the ribs.

I'm sitting here at Geo's having a amazing sandwich on the deck in perfect weather. What I don't get is I am looking at 30+ people in line across the street at Paseo's. Don't get me wrong I would rate Paseo's 5 star all day long but Geo's has amazing sandwiches, gumbo, Cuban coffee, nice tables, nice bathrooms and no line. This is my 3rd visit and I need to come back and try some other items.

This place is fantastic! The sandwiches are delicious! We tried the cubano-ham, roasted pork, pickles, mustard , tons of Swiss cheese-so much it hits your chin as you bite thru the Cuban bread which is warm, crisp, delicious and pressed just so. We also had the pan con lechon which you gotta try just for the garlic aioli and spicy Cajun mayo. This has the great roasted pork also plus romaine and sautéed onions. Thanks for the extra napkins.!! You're gonna need them unless you're Gene Simmons! Lots to drink- Soda, water, and cold beer. The crew there is really friendly and attentive to your needs and welcome all input. Yummy. Gonna eat my way/weight thru the menu. Did I mention the all day breakfast sandwiches...?

Walked Into this little place with low expectations as I am always disappointed when a Cuban spot opens in Seattle . Being a Cuban and having lived in Miami for several years I know how good Cuban food can be. I can honestly say that Geo's has the best Cuban sandwich I have eaten in Seattle ! Their bread is made locally and it makes all the difference, it isn't what we call Cuban bread in Miami but it is just delicious! The pan con lechon was also really good . They also have some creole items on the menu and their gumbo was amazing ; I will definitely have more than a cup next time I visit . Since I went with a group of friends I got to try several of the appetizer plates and the only one I wasn't too impressed with was the ribs , my husband on the other hand, enjoyed them! The best part of the experience was the service ! The owner and chef (Geo) came out several times, gave us some free samples and they stayed open way longer than closing time charismatically serving us ! Give it a try and you won't be disappointed!

Used to be one of my favorite places, but have recently found bones in the sandwiches. The staff always seems disorganized and a couple times I've gone in and they are completely out of food (except tuna). Strangely ran business. Good news is Paseo's is right across the street.

Okay, I'm gonna 'fess up. We were tourists, in town for just a few days, and after visiting the Ballard Locks we made our way down the street to try the more well-known Cuban food across the street from Geo's. We saw the line at the pink place and debated amongst ourselves if it was worth it to stand in line or to go somewhere else. And then we stumbled on Geo's and we are glad that we did. Great food at a great price, small line at lunch time. I don't have a lot of experience with Cuban food, so I can't really compare, but I know GOOD when I taste it. Friendly and personable staff.
