I was really, really hangry when I walked in so was practically inclined to give this place 4 or 5 stars, but I realized my stomach grumbles gave me a bias after mulling it over a few days, and decided to settle with a 3 star rating. SETTING: Located right off exit 4 on i-405 in Renton, Shari's is on par with a local version of a Denny's or IHOP. The interior is unemotionally and unironically 80's. They advertise specials like "Free Pie Wednesdays" on the windows and little cards on the table. The upholstery is reminiscent of a hospital waiting room. But, it is clean, well-lit, and by no means empty considering it was 10:30 am on a Wednesday when we came in. SERVICE: Our waitress seemed quaintly dinerish-- like the way she asked us if we wanted to start our meal off with a champagne mimosa (lol) or how she did everything in a fast clip. She was friendly, humored our question about how you spell "omelette," and the meal was well timed. When my mom went in to order several items a la carte, she pointed out one of the breakfast special combos which was more food for less money. FOOD: You can pretty much get whatever you want in the way of standard breakfast food--pancakes, bacon (including turkey bacon), omelettes, etc. I ordered the Spring Spinach Omelette and requested egg whites with hash browns and wheat toast on the side. I was pleased to see the omelette came out loaded with toppings (I mean just look at the picture!) with avocado slices and tomatoes neatly arranged on top. The hash brown portion was large, but were perfectly cooked, and the toast was fine, I didn't finish it. My mom's meal looked pretty standard with her pancakes and eggs, however she barely touched the turkey bacon complaining that it wasn't good (I would have tried it myself, but I'm vegetarian). I was thoroughly satisfied by my meal; when I came in I was so hungry I couldn't see straight. By the end my vision and judgement were back to normal. Everything about this experience was fine. Adding some charisma to the decor and maybe a couple of healthy options to the menu could go a long way in attracting some real foodies to the place.

Went to Sharis at 10:30 pm and there were very few customers dining. It was my husband, my 3 sons and I and we requested a window seat so we could keep an eye on our luggage. There were MANY vacant seating by the window and we were told that it will be a 15 minute wait. Yeah, couldn't understand why it was such a long wait and why couldn't we be seated. Worst Sharis I've been to. Never again.

With not much to choose from late on a Saturday night in Renton, we decided to try Shari's after our original plans for the evening fell through. How fortuitous! Every part of our experience will keep us coming back for more. From the the diverse menu, that is so well executed, to the warm and friendly staff. I had the cinnamon French toast, which we both enjoyed. My husband tried the chicken and waffles. The chicken was tender and the skin was crispy and delicious. Even paying the tab at the end of the meal was pleasant because nothing was over priced, GOOD FOOD VALUE. Look forward to bringing the whole family next trip!

I would rate the food if the wait staff would even come to the damn table. They sat us down, gave us menus, and haven't been back. The restaurant isn't packed or busy. I just want pie. Ugh.

I've visited Shari's last weekend. MISTAKE. Most servers are really nice, but you can tell they're overworked. It's the management that truly sucks, particularly Peggy the manager. She was working while I ordered breakfast and I literally saw her standing by the phone as it rang continuously until she picked it up and hung up after a server was too busy to answer it. Not to mention she shouts orders at servers from across the room. Other quick highlights: PLASTIC UTENSILS, PLASTIC CUPS, DIRTY RESTAURANT, WEIRD SMELL, FOOD TAKES FOREVER. I truly feel for the waiters and waitresses at the Maple Valley Shari's as they have a horrible tyrant for a manager and are very clearly understaffed. If you ever visit, tip them well, I've never seen staff so stressed out at an establishment.

For those flying in and out of SeaTec, this is the closest Shari's to the airport. I've made the drive here a few times when hit with the late night munchies. The service is fine. The staff is always friendly and the food remains below average, but there's three reasons to come here: free wifi, pie and breakfast. I wouldn't eat lunch or dinner here, but there's nothing wrong with the breakfast, although it can be greasy, beware. Still, there's an endless amount of combinations, all of which are cooked to order, affordable and edible. Meanwhile, the best reason to come here is for pie. There's always many pies available. Slices are cheap and they taste good, every one of them. In fact, I normally order a hot chocolate with two pieces of pie. Try it, you'll be happy you did.

I came here one day with my dad and sister for breakfast. As usual, the front entrance was flooded by elders. But its cool, what do you expect. We got seated and ordered our food. We ordered some regular breakfast foods-nothing fancy. We waited and waited. Began to see others served whom were seated after us. We waited for like an hour before we DITCHED. The poor waiter apologized as we waltzed out. We saw the waiter flail a piece of paper at the cooks. I'm pretty sure that was our uncooked order.

I love Shari's, so with heavy heart, I am giving them 3 stars. I ordered a salmon caesar salad. It is usually excellent, but the fish was rather beige and bland. The rest of the salad was drowning in dressing and it seemed like it was Italian dressing rather than Caesar. The service was great.

We left after waiting 45 minutes for our food. This place is severely understaffed and employees are over worked. Save yourself the trouble and just go to Denny's

When we walked in there was a giant spider walking across the floor...should have turn and ran then. Both of us ordered breakfast, which amounted to $35. Are you kidding me??? The bacon was hard, chewy and just plain awful. The "stuffed" French toast had no sort of stuffing at all. The regular French toast and hash browns were the only good thing about the visit.

The chicken & waffles are to die for. The loaded nachos were great. The platter I got was really good as well. I still need to try the pies!!!

It opens 24/7, servers are nice. Not sure about the management that people are complaining about. I know how hard it is to serve people at night especially 2 am. Went there twice and both time food's great, server's friendly and price isn't bad. They can however improve by adding more staff, we did wait few minutes before being seated because only 2 people running like 20 tables.

Great customer service and food is pretty good for a 24hr chain diner. The loaded hash-browns are my fav!

First Sharis experience and honestly i can say it was better then i thought it would be. the food was good in my opinion, i got the sharis standard breakfast with my eggs over easy with corn beef hash and toast, i thought my breakfast was delicious. All of the food is well priced and we got our breakfast pretty darn fast and they were also decently busy when we ordered (9am).... My reasons behind the three stars are firstly My girlfriend ordered her eggs scrambled and they arrived the same as mine, she didn't reorder because we were hungry and it was busy. Secondly when we went to pay it was apparently a very hard task for one of the staff named Tina to split our bill in half. it took her almost five minutes to split our check and the totals were still off by almost four dollars.

The fruit crepes were flat, dry, and completely tasteless. They were filled with an "okay" sweet cream cheese filling and topped with unpleasantly bitter berry compote. The only good thing about the dish was the whipped cream, about half of which melted into the compote. I couldn't even fix it with syrup because the server didn't bring me any or come around to check and make sure it was okay. At 10:30 on a Friday morning, they only had one person doing the majority of the order-taking, serving, and bussing for the entire restaurant. She was pleasant, but I think she could provide faster service if she had a little help. $8 is way too much for that paltry plate of food. I was still starving after I left, and I wound up going home and eating frozen pancakes that had more flavor than Shari's crepes. Avoid this place at all costs!

Every time I go into this location I make sure to ask for the waitress named Krista. She provides the best service you could ever need. My drinks are never late, always topped off, and she has not once made a mistake on my order even when I request all sorts of strange special things. This will always be my go to place to sit down and eat.

Worst Shari's ever!! Service sucks food sucks wait staff sucks cook sucks. I know that's a lot of sucks but damn I have never seen a restaurant have overall shittyness on this level anywhere before! Especially a Shari's. I have ate at so many! Been going since I was like 8 years old. I love Shari's but this place is horrible or at least this particular staff.

Walked in around 11:15pm with about half the tables full. My wife cringed as she opened the door due to its lack of cleanliness (should have been a sign). We "admired" the pie case full of old looking "homemade" pies. The floors were dirty and the dining area smelled funky. After being seated, we waited almost 15 minutes for our waters to arrive. We ordered an appetizer and a dessert and waited another 20 minutes before we were served mildly lukewarm tots. After taking a taste, we wouldn't stand it any longer and left. When I told my waitress, she seemed to not care at all. Cleanliness: 1 out of 5 stars. The place seemed like a low grade Denny's. Service: 1 out of 5 stars. We waited over 30 minutes for Tots that we could have cooked better had we bought them at Safeway and heated them in our oven. Never received our dessert. Food: see previous comment. Verdict: We will not be returning if you paid us to eat at Shari's.

I ordered a french toast combo. The French toast was cold and was tinged with the flavor of a thousand other meals. The egg scramble was nearly liquid. Hash Browns were mush. Somehow, my decaf coffee tasted awful as well. My stomach is in pain. I've made a huge mistake coming here. Don't make the same mistake I did. Stay away. Far away.

Alright. I've been going this restaurant for almost a year, and I love this restaurant a lot. But now... I'm not really satisfied with their food and services. To be honest, the quality of the food and services are somehow lower down now. The iced water is not clean, it often has dirt or other small stuff inside the wather. The services are also slow. Like last night, we sat there for more than 15 mins without water. About another 20 minutes after we placed an order, our waitress came over and informed us that they were temporary out of Waffles... Alright. I've doubted it because they are always out of something.. But.. the problem is why she delivery the message to us after 20 minutes? She should knew that right away when she helped us place in the order.... As for the food. The taste has changed a lot tho. It's hard to say, but you can tell when you try it. I hope they will pay attention with the things that I said above.

Great place to get some good food and chat for a while. I tend to go here almost weekly with a few buds to get some late night breakfast and coffee. The waitresses are always friendly, and in my experience the orders come out pretty quickly. The coffee never gets empty before someone is over to top it up, and I usually get a slice of the awesome banana creme pie to take home. Definitely a great spot.

  • Seanie M.

Please do not give Shari's your money. Anything else would have been much better. The place smelt like piss and the food was instant-made crap. There is not one good thing about this spot. And my wife got a stomach ache after eating half her plate. How are they even open still? The cook was arguing in the back. Completely unpresentable. I am never going back.

First of all, holy cow am I surprised to see even one bad review about this place! I have been going to this sharis for about 5 years and each and every time I've had an awesome experience. I have been here at least over 30 times and it's honestly one of my favorite restaurants. The servers are always really nice and seem to be on top of things. Each time I go in they are always willing to help me with anything I need. Whether it be help on deciding a plate, coming back a few times because I need extra time to order, getting extra utensils, answering questions, you name it, they always help me. They also always have a positive attitude, which is huge for me in going to a restaurant. Every time I go, the servers chit-chat a little (obviously if it's not busy), and actually seem to care that I'm there. I can obviously tell that these employees are treated well as to always be in a good mood. The food has always tasted pretty good to me and so far I've never had a problem with an order. Obviously things happen sometimes and stuff gets mixed up but they seem like they would at least be willing to fix it. The prices are pretty reasonable too. I can generally get pretty full on a $10-12 plate. Sometimes I have leftovers. I generally tend to come in later in the day and at night (but a few times at all the other hours), so maybe for me it's just because they have an awesome evening and night crew. Last time I was there I even told my server to tell the manager how well the place was running and how much I loved it because I really do. Overall I am just happy with this restaurant every time. I honestly have never had such great customer service from any other restaurant and I would definitely recommend it to everyone. I would definitely say to people not to judge reviews based off of one experience and one dish because everybody has off days and most of the bad reviews are because of specific incident.

The worst place by far. Very rude staff. Never had such a bag experience in my life. And it stinks there too. Waitress came picked some napkins of the floor and gave them to my kid. Just not good.

Better than you average Denny's and IHOP in terms of the overall food quality. The place was crazy busy when my gf and I came here for a Sunday brunch. There were people all crunched together in the little waiting area to be seated. The nice thing was you can walk right up to their display case of pies and see all the different varieties they have for you to order or take home. They have a special on Wednesday evenings for a free slice of pie with your meal. The menu is quite extensive as they have a full menu of breakfast, lunch and dinner options to choose from. I didn't notice if there were any time limitations to when you can order from the different parts of the menu so I figured it must be open to all hours of operation. My gf and I both ordered a breakfast that day since we had a coupon deal. I had gotten the breakfast sampler which came with hash browns, Applewood bacon, ham and cheese scrambled eggs, a great sausage and pancakes. It was all very good and tasty. I was so stuffed at the end of the meal that I had to take my time to finish the last couple bites. Service could have been better as our waitress was always so busy serving her section of tables, but she was nice enough in checking up on us. Looking forward in coming again and trying one of their delicious looking pies!!

Ugh.. worst experience ever. Should have left when we walked in the door! The place smelled terrible. It's probably moldy carpet but it honestly smelled like stale urine by the customer waiting area. The smell was not noticeable at our table, however. Service was really slow and for a party of 2 we waited forever for our food. When it arrived it was beyond luke warm to air cooled temperature. My soda was empty and had been for 15 minutes. No refill and no one checking on us till well past when we were done. This will be my last time here. Things have really gone downhill.

The pies at Shari's were the draw for us. We went there a couple of times during a business trip, just for the pies. They get 5 stars for having a huge selection and slices that have good taste, good crust, and a nice price. As for the food, I'd do about 3 stars, only because there was not much flavor to the food and when they served seafood it was slathered in batter to the point where the fish flavour and texture was barely noticeable. It being open 24 hours is a plus for sure. We would go into a Shari's in the future, mainly for dessert with coffee or hot chocolate.

A couple of friends and i decided to come here for a late night dinner around 12am. There were about six tables and a couple servers on duty. Our server took our order and we were pleased with the nice greeting. After about 45 minutes of no refills or updates from our server, we decided to go see what was going on. Unfortunately, there was only one server and one cook who I don't think was the actual cook? Our food came out an hour later and my steak was cold and well done which I ordered medium rare. The manager apologized and walked away. We ended up leaving without eating and noticing some other customers were also upset. As we pull out of the driveway, we see the same manager taking a smoke break (REALLY!?) when she should actually be inside fixing the problem. Everything was horrible and I will not be returning.

Went here around 10pm after a movie. It was fine. Nothing super great. Nothing super bad. I went with two friends. Here's what we ordered: Eggs Benedict. This was pretty good. The hollandaise sauce was good. The eggs were cooked to perfection. The ham was a bit plastic for me (not good quality ham, but not oscar meyer). Didn't really taste the english muffin. The hashbrowns weren't that good. Buffalo wings. I wouldn't order this there again. The sauce was fine. Nothing to complain about there, but the chicken was overcooked. And I guess I'm a minority in the sense that I would rather have my chicken slightly undercooked than slightly overcooked. I hate dry chicken. Also, the chicken was fairly small. I think they normally give you six pieces. I got seven because one of them was really small I think. But even so, these things were tiny. Fish and Chips. The fish was fine. The dish came with tartar sauce for the fish and there was also cole slaw and french fries. The cole slaw wasn't that great. The french fries were horrible. They just weren't good. I don't know how to explain why it wasn't good. It just wasn't. Service. This was in general fine. He took our order. He gave us water. He refilled our water. The water was a little late, but that's okay. The food surprisingly took forever (or what felt like forever). He didn't give us ketchup for either the hashbrowns or the french fries. I guess you have to ask for it. He was fairly friendly and nice. Nothing to rave about, but he was nice. So in general, it was okay. I'd go there again if I was with someone who really wanted to go there, but I wouldn't go there on my own. I'll go to Denny's the next time I want late night breakfast.

I don't come to this location often because it's out of the way and next to the freeway immediate enterance. Food: Average except the pie (Pie is their signature.) Coffe: Ok Service: Average Speed: Slow food delivery from kitchen Price: Not cheap for a joint like this Note: Lipstick stain on coffee mug.

My mom and I went here for our Thanksgiving meal to avoid the hassle of cooking such a large meal. When we walked in we were seated immediately, but we waited 10 to 15 minutes before we had to flag down the manager and ask if we have a server. Since they sell pies at the front till, our waitress was busy selling pies. We finally got our orders in, but did not receive our food for another 30 to 40 minutes. My mom got the turkey dinner and had asked for gravy on the side, which the waitress said she had to ask the kitchen to re-make the order. Then when they brought it out they brought no gravy at all. I ordered biscuits and gravy, which were rock hard, cold disks. For some reason the country gravy was sour. Can gravy spoil? Then we had to wait even longer for the check. We were there for about an hour and 20 minutes total. I understand that it is a holiday and they were busy, so I suppose this review should be based on that. They were completely unorganized (they should have placed a couple people at the pie station so the waitresses could focus on their tables). I don't expect a mind-blowing food experience when I go to a chain like Shari's, but it is all canned, prepared food that they put on a plate, so they should at least ensure that its hot and does not taste rancid.

Pie! Mimosas for breakfast! Now that I have your attention, yes, this is Denny's in a skirt. Nothing wrong with that and the breakfasts are pretty good. The northwest berries and marionberry pies are really good. Basic food, reasonably priced.

What happened? We have been to this Shari's location several times in the past and had great service, food came out promptly, and had decent meals. We went on New Year's Day and although it was busy, we were seated promptly and had coffee ordered. It came within minutes and our order was taken. Please NOTE: In the time it took our food to come out, we watched another patron get seated, order taken, THEIR food came out first, AND they left! Was it because our hungry toddler was entertaining herself with loud singing? Was it because we sat in the corner of the restaurant? We weren't the only family with young children in the restaurant and we were disappointed, to say the least. Will not return!

I hadn't been to one of these types of restaurants in years, where probably most of the food is not fresh but pre-frozened. Ordered the hash browns, scrambled eggs, and rye toast. The toast was okay, and so were the eggs, but the hash browns tasted as if they were fried/cooked in old oil. You know what I mean.... oil that had been sitting around and just re-used to cook everything else as well. Yuk. Anyway, I've had much better at McD's for breakfast, only I do not have to leave a tip at McD's. The service was good and I felt sorry for the wait staff that have to rely on such small wages and tips to make an income, but if they could improve their food, it would improve their level of class which could lead to better wages for their workers. Will I go back? Maybe in another 20 years.

This place is ridiculous. Our waitress never even made an appearance at our table except to take our order. It took so long just to get the appetizer that we didn't order anything else, and after 45 mins of waiting for an APPETIZER we left. Another waitress kept showing up saying our food had been "detoured." I'm not sure what that means, but it's not okay. And the restaurant was empty. Almost completely empty and the other tables had their food. Tell the chef to turn off the tv and do his job.

It was a mistake to order a prime rib dip in a place that specializes in pie... The meat was dry. The bread made my jaw sore. And for the first time, I ate a prime rib dip that lacked flavor...even with the onions and mushrooms! Having this be my main entree for the evening, it was the main reason for my two-star rating. However, aside from that, my experience here was quite pleasant. The waitress was very attentive to us even though we came at a time when it was getting busy. She refilled the strawberry lemonade and our water and checked to see how we were enjoying our meals. She was so nice I had to force a smile while I ate into my flavorless sandwich. Also, this was the first time I tried some Shari's pie, but I only had a slice of it. The lemon meringue was very sweet, but I enjoyed it! I have also had a chance to try their coconut cream pie, which is just as delicious. I am looking forward to trying their other pies and, maybe next time, stick to the typical diner food instead of expecting an epic prime rib dip...

I haven't been to Shari's in a while. I always thought it was OK. I stopped there the other day and boy have they changed. I love their menu. There were so many things that I could have ordered. Settled on the Trail Boss Burger. It was huge, it had bacon, ham, fried egg, chipotle, and all the fixings. Couldn't finish it, had it for lunch the next day and it was really good. Their toasted sesame seed salad is my most favorite with candied pecans and blue cheese crumbles.

I've gone to this Sharis several times, hoping that the issues were just flukes. The first time I went here it was mediocre but the lady who served me was very sweet. I came here again with my friend visiting from London and my fiance. I ordered a turkey burger and it was DISGUSTING. That's ok, I don't mind sending food back, but the manager (a very tall, wide black man) gave me grief. He kept trying to make me justify WHY I wanted to send it back. What a jerk. I figured it was a one time thing as I came here again with a group of friends, but wouldn't you know it, the next time I had an issue the manager was there to be a dick. I ordered a tbone steak which from my recollection of other sharis had been fairly decent for coming from a diner. I get mine and it is the WORST cut if meat I've seen. There is untrimmed fat composing half of it and it is DRIPPING with oil. The meat doesn't even look like beef. I could swear it was pork or chicken. So, I sent it back and GUESS who doesn't want to comp it? That's right, the manager. He only offered to comp HALF of the meal. The servers are nice and not all the food is terrible, but the manager is a freaking idiot. If someone doesn't like the food, you smile and take it back, and don't charge them. So. Annoyed. Will never return.

I really like this location for some reason. I guess it's because it's easy to get to. The food isn't excellent but it's good enough. Staff are very friendly although service is a bit slow because of course...like so many 24 hr american free way eat ins they are understaffed with tired employees working graveyards....Best pumpkin pie in town though!! ^__^y

The food was/is generally really good, the servers have to run their butts off and are overworked (not enough staff), the place is usually really clean. The management? Well, that totally stinks! Very bad management. Give your servers, bussers, and cooks what they deserve! You keep this up, and you will have to close another location!

I hadn't been to a Shari's since the long gone days of coffee camping in my teens. But I figured, aw heck, let's see if they're any good now that I am a grown up. It turns out that they make one mean garden burger. The patty was moist, avocado was fresh, and the gaggle of square dancers we sat next to were simply adorable.

Better than Denny's! Food is better quality than Denny's. Even though we live right next to a Denny's we would make the drive a few exits away just for Shari's. Free wi-fi! And the menu selection is huge.

Dur: in my thinking far-too-much about Eggs Benedict frenzy I accidentally posted my review under the *other* Renton Shari's. Now that I am back, and full of Eggs Benedict, I realize my mistake. Apologies! ============================= I love Shari's food, let me get that straight. Their Eggs Benedict? I like it way more than I should. My beef with this location? The managers. I've seen one of the managers berate one of his servers front of house as she was running her ass off, after going off on one of the cooks calling them lazy because there was a relatively full restaurant and there were a lot of tickets he couldn't rush out. Rather than putting on his taking off his jerk hat and putting on his manager hat and I don't know, helping out in the kitchen... the next time I noticed the manager he was ...readjusting silverware on tables? Really? The restaurant is busy! Help your staff! If I was inclined to rate based on the service I received from my awesome servers, I'd give it four stars -- Cherie and Samantha have given me consistently good service on multiple visits [they're both awesome, especially by diner standards!]. However, that manager in particular [I believe his name is John?] is a douchebag, and I wish I had said something to him...

Usually go here for breakfast with my suga, I say kinda better than Denny's. Good portions. Friendly/polite staff -Never had a problem with that.

Okay, obviously this three star rating is not for the fresh ingredients and inspiring execution. It's a meat-and-potatoes place. It's Denny's in a dress. But the service is friendly and prompt, and the food is a good value for what you get.

Shari's is basically Denny's sister. When my BFF lived in Renton, we met here on such a regular basis to hang out for coffee that most of the waitresses knew us by name. Her even more so..she completed her master's degree sitting in a booth doing homework ..(makes an excellent place to hide from kids when you need to concentrate) When she moved down to the middle of nowhere (aka Onalaska), we didn't go for nearly 5 years. We went again 6 months ago...got the same waitress...and the exact same booth we had sat in for oh so many years. Whenever she's up in town and we decide to hang out, chances are you will find us here at some point. Just stay out of our booth. You will find consistent quality of food and service at Shari's. Basic Americana. The pies are good too.

Stopped by at 2AM with some friends. Waitress was a COMPLETE bitch. Restaurant was absolutely empty and she asked us to wait to be seated. We waited 20 minutes and asked again if they were going to seat us. She told us to chill out, rolled her eyes at us, and started talking mess about us to the other waitress. Friend called her a bitch and we bounced.

We went to Shari's the food wasnt bad at all. BUT- we waited so...long for our "FOOD" that we wont be back. Seemed as though the place was under staffed. Just because its a food chain it doesnt mean that the service has to suck. The manager needs to hang out with the work crew to make sure things go...well.......hello...what about customer service..it should matter. This place needs proper training and a manger thats on top of it.

Lot's of parking and a great wait staff...but what you get for what you pay is less than desirable. We had breakfast, two meals and a kids meal and it was a little over $30 for very average food. It might be worth it if you have a 2 for one. I would stack rank them underneath IHOP and Denny's. Or...try Tommys a couple miles away.

I'm a regular here and I only really go into Sharis at night after 7pm typically, and sometimes it's a lot busier than you'd expect, typically on Wednesday's and Friday's because Shari's run a special on those two nights (Wednesday is free pie night and Friday is a prime rib steak thing). It's really close to our house and the waitresses are usually really friendly. For the kind of restaurant it is, the food isn't bad and the pie is world-class. The pie shakes are even more awesome. However, as a regular, there's a few things I can complain about. Some of the wait staff in the morning shifts aren't as friendly as their late-night counterparts. Sometimes the food isn't as great as other times. Sometimes there's a long delay in waiting for food. Sometime's they're out of stuff and it's what I wanted to order. Sometimes my steak is cooked wrong. But typically, I go in here knowing that I'm going to be in there for at least an hour if not longer. I'm okay with that because I am friendly with some of the waitresses and usually I bring a book or my laptop and tuck in for the wait. Wednesday's I'm with a group of friends and we always have a good time so the time is passed without care. This isn't the best restaurant in the world but it doesn't claim to be, it's a local neighborhood place where the food is average (but still good) and you can just hang out. It's a great place to go just to wind down after work. And please note: Octavian makes the best steaks (never cooked wrong) and a peanut butter pie shake is literally the best thing in the world.

We ate there on August 2, 2015. It's a Shari's with everything you'd expect, except that they were substantially short-staffed and it really, really showed, but that was just the beginning. 1. Short staffed, and obviously, as you could overhear staff complaining about it. No fault to them -- they were almost all busting their hump and trying their hardest, but people hit a breaking point. When wait staff in an air conditioned space are actually sweating, they're short staffed, overworked and mismanaged. 2. This made the place look honestly filthy. The floors hadn't been cleaned all day. How could they have time? They're running around with their heads cut off trying to keep up. 3. It took at least 15 minutes to be seated despite no one in front of us, and them collecting a waiting list. At least two names before us were scratched off it seemed, unseated, so I assume they left. They called one name who never came before us. 4. They had a trainee seat us and then it was server musical chairs until one kind and awesome lady -- despite looking exhausted from a long day -- tried hard to cover half the restaurant. 5. When our kid's chicken strips and fries arrived, some of the fries had... well, was it strawberry jam? Blood? We have no idea, but it was smeared on there. I'm kicking myself for not taking a picture, but we sent it back immediately by flagging down a server (our awesome one was bogged down by all the other tables). The lady who came over, when we showed her the dish and asked for a replacement, was literally DISMISSIVE of us. She just left the damn thing there on our table, said, "OK," in a very resigned tone, and went to deal with people waiting to pay and ring them out instead at the front desk. We were both like, "Did that just happen?" and grabbed another server who replaced the meal. He looked very annoyed at what she had done. When I've eaten at Shari's in the past it's always been the one on Aurora or the Shoreline one. The Aurora is OK; average, and the Shoreline experience is great usually. This place... never again. Stuff happens; people call in sick. Management screws up and accidentally or deliberately understaffs. But seriously, if you have possibly contaminated food? We were both so exhausted after a long day -- and the rest of the food SEEMED alright -- that it was the only reason we didn't just get up and walk out. Glancing at other reviews, I see that this place is apparently often getting dinged for slow service, poor handling of customers, and general dirtiness. Terrible. Avoid.

Nice people every-time I come in. One of my Mother and I favorite lunch spots. Fast service and good food! Definitely recommend coming in and trying out the Prime Dip sandwich!

We came here for a quick bite before heading to Tacoma. Our orders and bill took much longer than we expected. Don't dine here if you're in a hurry! I ordered the Spring Spinach omelette. I liked the fresh ingredients, but the omelette itself was a bit bland. The food overall was just average. I like it about the same as Denny's or IHOP. Service was alright, as well as pricing. Looks like a nice place for family brunches, so if you're more into the ambiance, pick Shari's.

Do not eat here! Walked in at 11:30am on a Monday, Left at 1:30pm. Only 1/4 of the tables had customers. Simple breakfast took one hour to make. Food was cold! Then took 25 minutes to get the bill.

Now I know what you're thinking... Shari's?? What is this place?? Who is Shari? How can I get her digits? Who the hell knows. I spent many a night here during high school (and the one on Benson) having pie and drinking coffee with friends. Even one Christmas, I was done with family obligations and called up a friend and we hung out on Shari's. Pretty much a cleaner and more friendlier version of Denny's. That and Shari's are known for their hexagonal shapes.

I really didn't think Shari's was that bad...I mean I had heard it was a "glorified" Denny's, so I wasn't expecting too much. My friend "Shari" was in town and she really wanted to go, so we went. They do have good appetizers and nice selection of beer. I was a bit surprised...not impressed...but surprised that it wasn't horrible. I didn't get a milkshake, but they looked awesome!

hmmm, i'm not sure why it took me so long to actually eat at this place. apparently a bunch of my friends have been coming here for late nite diner grub for years. after a hard day of helping my current crush move this past weekend i needed something to fill my belly and a late nite bfast sounded like it would hit the spot. as a professional fat guy, i'm ashamed i hadn't ventured here (for anything other than pie) before because they have this wonderful thing called STUFFED HASHBROWNS. oh man oh man! regular hashbrowns filled with cream and cheddar cheese, sprinkled with bits of bacon and green onion. goddam! i had an omlette with the afore mentioned stuffed hashbrowns, my pal had the hanger steak (extra rare) with the same stuffed hashbrown. i'm not sure how i feel about eatin' the steak unless it's country fried and drowning in gravy...which is prolly what i'm gonna have the next time we go there. i can see myself frequenting this place again, if only to sober up with some greasy spoon type chow.

This review is just for the pie... but that was some AMAZING pie!!! We were visiting from out of town and decided to try out Shari's for some after dinner dessert. The staff was incredibly friendly and even gave us a small sample since we had never tried "Marionberries" before. We ended up settling on the Apple pie and the berry trio and they were both delicious! The crust was perfectly flaky and the filling was just the right amount of sweetness. We loved it so much that we even came back again before we left for just one more slice... :)

After almost 2 years in the Puget Sound area this was our very first visit to Shari's. Being a Southerner from TX I was missing all that was related to unhealthy yummy food. Luckily this place is the jackpot. The fact they offer white cream gravy automatically gets them 3 stars in my book. The kid's menu was very appropriate for small kids which was great for my daughters. Our food was hot and fresh and our waitress had a great personality and was very sweet and professional. Being as this was around the time of my birthday and I LOVE pecan pie my husband decided to buy me the whole pie. It was beautiful and tasted good. While it wasn't exactly what I remember in TX it certainly fixed my need for pecan pie. They have a huge selection of freshly made pies ready to eat in the store by the slice or take home and enjoy. Based upon our experience at this location I would definitely have no problem returning or recommending it to my friends.

Although there are no local restaurants around renton for breakfast, shari's is great for the predictable breakfast platter you would've wanted anyway! biscuits and gravy are better than the one's at Geraldine's and I feel that their substitute options are accommodating for people like me. I don't like hashbrowns and they substituted fruit instead. They have an assortment of sides to choose from from toast, french toast, english muffins, rye, whole wheat, etc...just no waffles. ps. the lady that served us was super friendly!! She came by about 4 times to refill and check up on us!

A great 24 hour diner to hit. The server wasnt thrilled to be there, she was running half the time, but she got me what I needed. The food isnt great but it isnt bad, its what I want and at a price that is reasonable. I am a regular here because my pocket allows me to! Overall its a nice place to hit when you are hungry and want something filling and cheap! =)

The food here isn't to die for and it may not seem the most appetizing when it comes out the kitchen. The proportions could be really random. my two other friends and i ordered the same thing and each of us had different portions of everything. myself, having the smallest plate made me a bit upset. while my other friends ordered burgers the buns looked really oily. but i was surprised when they could make a poached egg in the burger instead of a sunny side up when my friend jokingly asked. but i did enjoyed the time i had here mainly because of the young lady that was really kind to our group of 10. she made sure our water were filled the entire time and came back just the right amount of time to check up on us with whatever we needed. Food : 2/5 stars Service : 4/5

There needs to be more consistency for this location. It's either the food quality or the service that would be poor during the numerous times we have dined here. Also, the manager seems to have a habit of disappearing while his only server is working her ass off. Today, we received our food more than 30 mins later after we've sat down. It was slow and we're pretty sure it doesn't take half an hr to cook an omelette. In addition, I could tell the food had been sitting for awhile because the gravy on my Chicken N' Waffles had already developed its skin. My friend ordered a slice of pie a la mode, and received it almost an hour later after we received our entrees. Apparently, they decided to microwave the hell out of it and throw some ice cream on top. Last time here for sure!

Dude it's sharis, it's like a slightly better Denny's. This is the lowest grade food you can find. I wouldn't feed my dog this food...no joke.

Worst place that I have ever been too. The service was horrible. They took forever to even sit us. We had to wait like 10 minutes. I also ordered their sirloin steak and it was so small and rough. It was not good. Every food takes like it has been microwaved and it should be called shittys not Sherri's. Anyways just save yourself the time and head somewhere else.

I ordered steak Medium-Rare with eggs for breakfast. The eggs on the side on a separate plate for my son, with his meal. Meals arrived with the eggs on my plate. The steak Medium-Well. After I finished my meal, excluding the steak & eggs, our waitress finally reappeared. Her response, "Our steaks are thin (about 3/4) so it's hard for them to show pink. Service-mediocre, at best.

I love the pies, the staff is super nice, and the kids menu is good for the little ones. I had a hamburger and it was mediocre at best. My friend had the quiche and really liked it. I have stopped a couple times and picked up a pie.

It didn't impress but I'll go back if asked. I try hard to steer away from chains but this place has eluded me since I moved into Kent and wanted to give it a chance. There's only one good place in the area, so it's okay to mix it up every now and again. Ordered bacon and eggs, eggs over-medium and bacon crispy. Eggs were done correctly, a rarity these days, but the bacon was definitely not crispy. I sampled the hash browns and they were okay. My girlfriend's were over-buttered and she ate most of mine.

breakfast is back! no, im not a trucker, but sometimes work on the road or night shift. Sharis is all-time favorite diner. great place to start your day w/ a 3 egg omelete, pancake, waffles. u can upgrade hashbrowns w/ sour cream and bacon. taste and portions are voluptuous. service is friendly and homey. shari's is further proof that there is a god. believe it!

Wow stopped by Shari's for a quick bite, but that didn't happen. Our waitress forgot to bring us our sodas we ordered. The food took a long time to come. I ordered the surf and turf for dinner. When my food did come, my mashed potatoes were cool, as if it was sitting out for a few mintues. But unfortunately it wasn't a good dining experience for us.

Food is a 3, what would be expected from a chain 24hr resto, but the waitress was good, so it gained another star. We dined at 7:30am. Had steak and eggs, minus toast and potatoes, waitress offered substitutes of cottage cheese and fruit ;)

Stopped here at 7am on a Saturday. Not busy and I was alone at the counter. Order. 2 eggs over easy and a side of fruit. Coffee was better than usual. The eggs were ice cold. Not just cool or not warm...cold like they came out of the fridge. The fruit was gross on a lettuce leaf that had mayonnaise on it. Never again.

I met my dad here for breakfast. It's been a while since I've been to this location. We were there for about 2 hours in deep conversation. I ordered the Ham & Cheese Omelette. The Omelette was good size but I don't think anyone has bigger Omelettes than IHOP. The presentation looked very well. It came with 4 pieces of whole wheat toast and hash browns. Everything was very good and I would definitely order it again if I'm there for breakfast. We had a waitress by the name of Heather. She was very attentive, friendly and always had a smile on her face (not too bad on the eyes either).

I normally love Shari's, however, every time I come to this one I have had a terrible experience. This last time, it took 20 minutes before we could order and another 50 minutes to get our food. Restaurant was not busy at all, food arrived cold and soggy. Take the extra 5 min drive and go to the Shari's on Benson Rd.
