Chang’s Mongolian Grill Menu

I have been coming to Changs for the past 15 years. It's sad to see it going down hill. Poor service. And the food and sauce was basically gone 45 minutes before closing. No beef, no garlic sauce and no soy sauce. In the past I would have given this place 5 stars.

Skip this place. We pulled up and it looked so sketchy we just left. Go to the Mongolian Grill on 4th instead.

I went to Chang's with my partner on Friday night, against my better judgment. The last few times we've been there, the food came off the grill a little burnt and the place just wasn't as clean as it used to be. But I went. We arrived and were seated quickly. Then we waited for the waiter. And waited. And waited. In geologic time, it was fast, but in hungry human time, it took long. It was 7 minutes by the time we ordered beverages and soup. We then went to the line to get our grub cooked. There were about 8 people in front of us, so getting our meal slightly charred took about 12 minutes. When we got back to the table, still no drinks, soup, or rice. We left.

WHAT THE HECK HAPPENED TO MY ONCE FAVORITE MONGOLIAN GRILL?!?!? It hurts me to do this review but I am not gonna stand by and let innocent Yelpers come here only to have a bad experience. I have been coming here for it seems like forever. Even after I moved out of state I still make it a point to come and eat here whenever I come back to visit. Each time I would say it has been consistently a 4 star experience. If this last visit was any indication of things to come, im sorry to say that I will no longer be coming here and will also not recommend these guys to any of my colleagues. Here's my story. As usual, Chang's is a normal part of our list of places to always eat at every time we come up to visit family. Since we had a large party of 12 we called ahead to make sure that tables were ready for us. They said our tables would be ready in an hour. We show up and yes, our tables were ready. We sit down and our server takes our drink and soup orders (you get your choice of either hot n sour or eggflower). As we all go to get our bowls of food to get cooked we assumed that the soup and drinks would be all ready on our table. Nope. This is where things start going wrong. At the time there was only one cook grilling. The place was a little bit busy especially now that our party showed up. The line for the grill was starting to get backed up towards the end of the make your own sauce section. After about 10 minutes another cook shows up and starts helping with the grilling. By this time the about 4 of the plates ahead of us were served charred. A couple of those people didn't want it so they had to get new bowls and get in line all over again. As we headed back to our table as soon as we got our food, like I mentioned earlier, there were still no drinks or soup. I can understand our server was probably busy so I gave her the benefit of the doubt. By the time the last of our party got their food, I was already on my way back for a second round. Still no drinks or soup. When I got back to start on my second plate, she finally came out with all our orders. Grant it it took 3 trips because of the size of our party which was understandable but why it took that long just wasn't impressing me at all. Just right before I dug into my sweet n sour soup I noticed it was a different texture along with it being a bit more runny. As soon as I tasted it I knew right away that it wasn't what I was used to. It was bland and even a bit more oily. Needless to say I didn't want any more after only one spoonful. As for the overall meats, veggies, and sauces, 2 out of the 3 were noticeably different as well. The meats were still the same which was good because im a carnivore. The veggies were lacking. They used to have green peppers. That was gone. They used to have raw tofu. Instead they replace it with pre-cooked tofu. After I had some on my plate didn't want any more tofu. It smelled like it was spoiled. Like they were using unused tofu from the days before. Another negative was that they don't refill the veggies right away so if you wanted a certain veggie that was out, it might take a while before they come out and replenish it. By that time you are waiting for your food to get done cooking. Then later on, the veggie you want might be restocked but then some others might be empty. It's a vicious cycle. As for the sauces, I always had a set plan on what to put ant it always came out great. After my first plate, the flavors did seem a bit off. So for second plate I literally doubled what I usually put to see if it made a difference. Yes, it made a little bit of a difference but that was another clue that something was off. I think they're sauces are all watered down now. After trying to finish my second plate I just decided that I was done and a return trip here was very bleak. In closing, a lot of changes has been made and it stood out like a sore thumb. Memo to the owners and/or management: Don't ever cut corners on a successful product just to save money. In the end, you are risking losing some of your customers and more often than not, it does not justify saving a few bucks here and there. Since we had a large party, we were automatically charged 20 percent tip on the total bill. Not sure if our server deserved that much since service was subpar. Yelp 2015 Review #50 "I can no longer hang at Chang's" 550 overall

Though I like Mongolian food in general because I can get only the food I like I hate this places pricing scheme. Dinner for an adult is $14.95 for all you can eat. Period. And if I want a small Togo box it's an extra $1.50. I only go up once. I don't want an "all you can eat" style. Id pay $15 for one trip up if I got a Togo box but they charge extra. The boxes are less then .50 a piece and you charge $1.50 for the food that I paid for already but got a bit too much of. I'd rather go to the Mongolian place in the Udistrict that you pay $20 and if you can fit the extra in a Togo box you can take it with you. That's a good deal. It's a big Togo box. This place is over prices but at least staff is polite

What can I say, I'm addicted! Every time I make my round back home to Washington I absolutely must stop by for a quick lunch or dinner... Just the thought of a hot, spicy, melt in your mouth meal...yep my mouth is watering... Here are just some of the endless pros- - Amazing service - The cooks actually cook it the way you desire, well done, medium, with water, oil, sauces, basically the food is tailored to meet the needs of each individuals liking - The vegetables and meat are consistent and fresh - The meat is thinly sliced like a Shabu Shabu joint which totally compliments Mongolian cuisine versus other Mongolians places that have thick clumpy fatty chunks -Lastly, the most important component is the sauce! There is an open bar of sauces and you are allowed to compile your dish and it's condiments as you choose. Yes, this means loads of vinegar, chili oil, or even sherry, and unlike other places they don't pressure you to make it their way. I love choices! Con() - Sometimes the employees at the register have a bad attitude for no reason. They should fix that. Here's to a meal filled with pungent vibrant and absolutely delectable flavors!

DO NOT GO HERE!! Seating was fast, but after sitting down and looking around aimlessly for our server, we were instructed by the host that we could get our food started. I couldnt understand why the server was asking us if we wanted the rice or soups that come with the meal, since its included in the price. The chef looked like he was trying to flip omlettes or something, and clearly didnt want to be there. And rightly so, my girlfriends food came out like a pancake. Completely charred (black) on one side and stuck together. He looked at it and just kept going on his way. We tried twice more each, attempting to pick out the noodles that weren't turned to dust. Nothing changed, and the pile of discarded burnt mess at our table just got bigger. We were only offered half off of my girlfriend's food, which she hardly touched. She was really looking forward to coming, and this experience ruined our night. Coming from a server at PF Changs, im warning all of you. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE.

I like a business that is willing to think outside the box for the benefit of their customers. My 77 year old mother is extremely sick and one of the few things sounding good is soup. I telephoned the restaurant to order soup to go and was advised this is not an option. I explained the circumstances to the employee on the phone and asked if there was a way to make an exception if we were to bring our own container in. She indicated she would check with the manager. End result: no. Policy is policy and they wouldn't make an exception to the rule. Maybe I should've brought my sick mom into the restaurant while she's contagious instead of writing a poor review and assuring I will not ever give my business to Changs again.

This is the best Mongolian grill. All others pre weigh a tiny amount of protein. As this place IS AUTHENTIC! The way Mongolian is ment to eat. P.S. For $3 extra you can take your leftovers with you.

The cook, Jason, made our lunch visit more fun! Staff is very friendly and attentive. Not only is the food fresh, I love choosing exactly what I want - and how much of it - in my meal. Would be a fun place to come with a large group. Chang's never disappoints!

I have never had Mongolian grill before and this was amazing! All you can eat and a beverage for under $15? Yes please! The staff was super attentive and fast, and nice! And they give you ice cream and a fortune cookie! The food is delicious here and you build your own which means you can put as much or as little as you want and then watch them grill it.

Even though the management and staff had changed a lot more frequently then it should, this place remains my favorite restaurant. I'm a big fan of Mongolian all you can eat style places and I just love it here. Every time I come, no complaints. Even though service can be slow at times it's nothing to stop me from coming back! Love the food!

I went there to a half empty restaurant for dinner. Me and my spouse were seated fast enough. We waited ignored about 10 minutes as the server (and I think manager) kept walking by us scurrying around to other tables, but never stopping at ours. He finally stopped at our table and we order our soup, rice and a pitcher of beer. We then went up to line to get our food. This process took about 15 minutes. When we returned to our seats there was no rice, no soup, no beer (not even glasses of water). It became very apparent that we were not going to be attended to so we left our plates of food uneaten and notified the hostess that we were leaving and walked out. It has been very hit or miss in regards to service here. Unfortunately, it has been far more misses than hits; and I cannot say when or if I will be back. On the upside, we went to Jimmy Mac's and had wonderful service and a lovely time (and I did not have to wait 25 minutes to get drinks there).

Tried to come here for my birthday... Even though there were open tables, the hostess told us we'd have to wait 20 minutes because they were understaffed. Hopefully, if we return, they will be more accommodating.

One star because I have to put at least one star to post a review. Definitely a zero star kind of place. The Mongolian grill in the renton highlands tragically closed and this was the closest one left. My boyfriend and I tried to go one time before, but for some reason they're only opened 6 hours a day. 11-2 for lunch and 5-8 for dinner, or some odd times like those. So we drove home. Tried again a few days later. We get seated shortly and go make our bowls. After watching my food on the grill for way longer than it should have been, I grabbed it and sat down. My noodles and beef were charred. I got up, made a second bowl, told the chef not to leave it on as long. Yet again, it came out charred. Had my boyfriend make me a third bowl, he told the chef not to burn it, comes out burnt but not as charred, but surely not edible. The chef also seemed like he didn't give a fuck about anything. After complaining to the manager, they gave us half off my meal. Yippee skippe. Paid $7.50 for a glass of water and about two bites of ice cream. This place is god awful and I'll never be back. Also, you guys should figure out a better way to display your sauces, it's a complete disaster, like the rest of the place.

Had better. True they have tons of selection but it just wasn't there for me. The shrimp was a tad small and the noodle provided wasn't the best. Even with tons of sauce it came out a bit dry in the end. It is a good place for a quick meal with friends.

  • Emily L.

Burnt! :( The chef apologized for burning my food and suggested I stand in the long line and remake my dish. Unfortunately I was at a work function with limited time. Totally bummed to pay $11 for a burnt lunch. I appreciate that they were backed up but felt asking me to spend another 20 mins in line was unacceptable.

Every now and then you feel like making a glutinous pile of noodles to eat, that's when Chang's Mongolian grill comes to mind. The food ain't great but you kinda have a hand in making it so that's on you. I like the novelty of it and the ability to go back for more!

For a all you can eat buffet, it's only 10.99. They have a pretty big selection that you can choose from and a lot of different types of sauces. The customer service is outstanding, all the workers were extremely nice and attentive. They come around to give you drinks, free ice cream, rice and flour wraps. Compared to other mongolian grills, I'd say this one isn't as flavorful because the chef didn't pour in all the sauce from my bowl and the meat was slightly dry, but for 10 dollars this is a pretty tight deal.

This was hands down the worst Mongolian grill experience my fiance and I have ever had. The server was nice but was extremely difficult to understand (she had a speech impediment on top of her thick accent). The selection of meats and vegetables were decent, until you tasted them. The beef was very fatty, chewy and just gross. The noodles tasted old. The vegetables were ok. The cook was surly and gave the impression he did not want to be there and was bothered by having to cook our food. We went there because we bought a Groupon so we ended up saving $12 off of our meal, but still felt we overpaid as we could only stand to eat about an 1/8th of our food. I would not recommend this establishment to anyone with working taste buds.

This place is a nightmare! Save your money and go somewhere else, unless you like the ghetto experience. The place is dirty and the food sub-par.

For how much food you get, it's amazing! You really have to explore to find the perfect sauce mixture though. It's a decent all you can eat Chinese food place.

This is one of the last REAL all-you-care-to-eat Mongolian BBQ joints. The meat and veggie selection is good, but come with an appetite to get your $15 worth! They started using the "pirq" app for discounts, but we weren't able to use it when we went. We'll go back, but for more of a special dinner.

  • Freedom J.

Either they were having an off night or this place has gone way downhill! They were out of about half the items at the buffet, and in the 20 minutes we stood in line waiting for our food to be cooked only a few items were refilled. I won't be coming back.

This place was great for $15 unlimited Mongolian BBQ, I would have given it 4 stars if they had additional item on the buffet. The cooks do fantastic job of cooking and keeping the line moving. Staff is very friendly.

I bought the Amazon Local deal because I knew we would use it one night. We waited until the day before it expired; which probably means something about us not wanting to go. The experience was good, the grill guy was a bit slow = charred noodles. Service was the typical slow poke speed but overal an okay dinner. We probably wont be back for a while, just not something we crave anymore these days.

  • Jackie C.

This place was ok. I am not sure why people have said this is the best place they've ever eaten mongolian food before, but I didn't feel that was the case. When I went, I felt the selections were not the freshest they could be and that drops the place by a lot of points. I would go again, but I'm still on the lookout for a better place around Renton.

I am a big fan of Mongolian Grills. And I totally believe that you can't go very wrong in these places, because you decide you own ingredients and put your own sauces. But I must say that Chang's Mongolian Grill is one of the WORST Mongolian Grills I have ever been to. The vegetables are not fresh, there are no choices of sauces. Literally, the only sauces from which you can choose are Soy Sauce & Oyster Sauce (I don't count Salt Water, Vinegar & Chilli Oil in Sauce choices) While cooking on the Grill, they actually burn your food and half of it stick to it. Food should be never burnt in Mongolian Grills. Instead, it should be cooked properly with all the tossing and turning. If you are looking for good quality Mongolian Grill, then this is just not the place to Go. It actually felt like low quality food.

One of my favorite meals of all time is mongolian grille. I used to go as a kid back in Kent with my parents before they changed it to Jasmine grille which is basically the same place. Changs has a distinctive taste to it compared to other mongolian grilles, Im not sure if its the oils they use or how long they cook it but its by far the tastiest of all the grilles. The ingredients are all fresh and tasty and sauces well flavored as well. I always get a stomach ache the next day guaranteed but its worth it cuz it tasted so good. By far a better deal during the lunch hour, dinner has some seafood but not really worth an extra $5 unless you love salmon and shrimp and pile it on heavy. Always good to eat with the wraps and egg flower soup included with the meal. Ice cream at the end is super cold and yummy. nom nom nom. This place is fantastic!

A fan since childhood when the closest location was Broadway. Renton is much closer, with quick service. Wish it was a bit more upscale, but that would probably drive up prices. If you're watching your weight, grab meat and veggies. The plum sauce is wonderful.

  • Rian R.

Take your time and build the perfect stir fry meal! Don't be afraid to pile on the sauces at the end. If you don't like the food, it's your own fault! If you really screw up, try again. The chefs are always entertaining. How they keep track of the meals on the grill is beyond me. Many are funny and clearly enjoy their jobs. Be sure to tip! Pace yourself! Don't get too carried away with your first helping! Save room for seconds (or thirds). Ice cream? Yes, please!

I love this place! Servers are spot on and have never left me hanging. They usually come back with a refill even before I notice I need one! You have an issue? Pfft, they fix it. I had a male server with the best facial hair I've ever seen, makes me jealous I can't grow that! This guy was great, he cracking jokes, laughing it up with us, this guy was the friend that had to work that day! He was being the host one day and remembered me and my buddies. Can you tip the Host? Ya damn right when its THIS GUY! My favorite chef that works here knows how to cook everything right and still make the sauces stand out! She is the best, I've had others that just burn away the sauces with the food. This woman knows when to put it in. You want it extra crispy? You just say the word and she makes it happen. You want those veggies and noodles al dente? You got it. I've only been a few times with this chef but she STILL remembers me! She jokes with me and my wife that just make waiting for the food fly by! Keep those 1 dollar bills in your pocket and break out the bigger bills when you see this woman up there!

Food is good manager isn't. If the manager was more helpful and would interact with customers more rather than handling issues from their office through the host I would give them a better rating. I had a coupon they didn't know how to apply. Rather than trying they declined to accept it?? Poor service in my opinion. It was their own coupon.

Love it. I'll often make trips from Seattle just for the all you can eat. Excellent service, and a delicious soup to start you off. Awesome selection of meat, and two different kinds of noodles (When most only have one) The only downside is sometimes when it's too busy they'll neglect your food and you end up getting some extra crispy noodles. Oh and ice cream and a fortune cookie afterwards? BONUS!

  • Kayan H.

$14.95 for all-you-can-eat noodles and fixin's cooked to order, plus soup, plus ice-cream?! yes please! I haven't been here for a decade, and there are only 2 left in the area (Renton and Way up North) so my expectations were not high. But I love noodles, so came with a friend and it was great! My noodle creations turned out excellent, friendly staff. No, it's not the classiest place to bring a date, but if you're wanting personalized noodle bowl experience, this is great!

I crave Mongolian, at least once a month. They know us here by name, I'm a little embarrassed to admit. Pork and lamb are always delicious. The chefs are very friendly and do a great job cooking the meat thoroughly. Only once or twice have I had my meal slightly overcooked, but never undercooked. I appreciate that they can manage fitting two heaping bowls onto a single plate without dropping or spilling any of your precious stirfry. Our favorite thing about Mongolian is the little cup of vanilla ice cream at the end...

While visiting family in Renton/South Seattle, we drove by Chang's everyday to get to/from our hotel. One day we decided we should just stop and try it out since I really like Mongolian BBQ at home. The restaurant is pretty big and the service was good. Our server was attentive and filled our drinks & the cooks were friendly. They had lots of options for meats & veggies - I really liked that they offered seafood items like shrimp or fish. There were lots of veggies to choose from as well. Overall though, I wasn't that happy with the food. I do drown my food with the sauces provided but every time it came out bland. Looking at the sauces, I felt like they were very thinned out - Mongolian BBQ takes strategy but I sort of felt like you had to fill one entire bowl with sauce before you can really get true flavor. I also felt that the food areas could be a bit neater/cleaner although I understand it's going to get messy with so many people coming through. At the end of the meal, they offered us free soft serve with a fortune cookie on top - it was a decent meal for a decent price but I'm sort of 50-50 on this place.

Me and four others recently visited. The others went in while I finished a smoke. Once I got inside the woman smiled and instantly greeted me asking if I was with the party of five. She pointed to the table and asked if id like to set my things down and join my friends whom were all ready in line. She explained the process and gave me a small tour. How incredibly professional for an average eatery. Not saying Mongolian BBQ is average just saying it's no five star joint. Now stars are not what I'm concerned with. To me it's about the service. I've been to many average places but the service is what actually brought me back. The woman at the door was on point. So I got in line grabbed a bowl turned and or server was right there with a smile and a pad asking me what id like to drink. Whoa!! Sneaky very sneaky! Placed drink orders and began building my first bowl. The meats looked of good quality and the vegetables fresh. It was around 6:30 and they close around 8:30 I believe. There were some items that were empty and didn't get refilled during my visit. :( Still....my creation was going to be a masterpiece. I continued through the line and reached the counter around the grill. Two people working one who's name I learned was Wendy. Now let me tell you what I learned about Wendy in the three times I went to the grill. Wendy number one is a Seahawks fan!!! Sporting her Wilson jersey and hair net she greeted me with a smile as she grabbed my bowl. Asking me how everything is going and if I'm alright this evening. Therefore, making me smile because this is the woman cooking my food. I watched and realized how incredibly difficult it must be to have people stare at you while your cooking their food. People are very critical. This was a walk in the park for Wendy. She cooked five folks meals with assistance from another gentleman. She did this with the utmost professionalism. I seriously applaud this woman. In life sometimes you can tell who good people are. Wendy is a top notch kind of lady!! She has pride in what she does! Speaking of proud employees back at our table Ryan had set our drinks out and brought us the rice and wraps we had asked for. I was siting on the edge of our booth eating and glancing around the restaurant. I then noticed Ryan setting a table for a couple that was at the grill. They had ordered Tea. As he set the table and tea cups for the couple I watched as he did everything just right. Cups to the right turned down on a saucer. He even had a wedge on a different drink placed parallel to the handle of the pot. I notice this stuff because I too am a perfectionist. It really is the little things sometimes. This is a man who takes pride in what he does. As I sit happily with my food I am glad that I had come to this restaurant. Like i said it's nothing five star but it's good and the service is the bomb. Eat here. I don't think you'll be mad unless your just a straight prude or a**hole.

They've made some changes since the last time I came. One is adding smoothies (wow!); 'might consider trying that sometime. The other is out with the colored plastic plates and short cups, and in with the white dinnerware.

I've been around the Mongolian grill block a few times and still nothing compares to Chang's! All you can eat for a reasonable price - that's what I'm talking about! You get to choose your meats, your noodles, your veggies, your sauces, etc. and you get to choose how much! I'm picky about my meat-noodle ratio so I like having control. After they grill 'em up (tip your grill master), you take your food back to your table where a server will bring you a beverage, soup, rice and wraps. Try the plum sauce thats on the table - delish! Then after you are finished with your plate (or second or third), the server will bring out vanilla ice cream and a fortune cookie. Chang's is simple. They don't waste time with the fancy schmancy things (even their customer service could use improvement), but who cares? Their food is amazing. Renton, don't take this place for granted!

This is a place where you are kinda in charge of how your food comes out. It all comes down to the sauces that you add at the end. Here is what i do: I double everything that is in the (Hot) row. ADD a few extra scoops of oyster sauce. CAUTION with the chili oil as that does have some kick to it. I put Meet on one and noodles in a separate bowl. that being said i put sauce in both so that the flavor is there. Im not a fan of their soup or the wraps but i know others that are. ENJOY

Place is dope. Took my bro there and mowed down over 2 plates. The one waitress who was hard to understand killed it on the free soft serve. She loaded it up with chocolate sauce. She was super cool. Definitely a good spot for someone who respects cheap Mongolian BBQ.

My wife was having a craving for some Mongolian Grill, so we drove out here to eat at Chang's. Instead of pulling into the front lot for parking, pull into the side lot. There's plenty of parking and it's easier to get into and out of. When we went in, we were quickly greeted and seated, so this was a good start. Little did we know, that'd be our highlight and it'd just continuously go downhill from there. For starters, we sat for at least a good 5+ minutes without anyone coming over to say hello, take drink orders, etc. We finally just decided we didn't want to wait any longer and went up to start our food prep at the grill. The food was pretty good; about what you would expect from a place like this. They had the beef, chicken, shrimp, etc options. Plenty of vegetables, noodles, and a large variety of sauces to choose from. In its raw form...it looked like a good meal. Then it got "cooked". I'm not saying that I'd prefer an Asian cook at a Mongolian Grill, but I'd at least like someone familiar with how to cook the meal. The end result of what I had was overcooked (partially burnt) noodles, and it just wasn't anything to write home about. At an all-you-can-eat place, it says something when my wife (pregnant) and I both stopped at one plate. Since I didn't mention it above, our server did come and get our drink orders after we returned to our table. And he did a decent job of coming back and getting us refills. At the end, though, he left us our check and this is the type of place where you have to go to the hostess stand and pay as you leave. Last ding of the night, as we stood around and stood around and stood around...waiting for someone to come and take our money. I guess all in all, it was fitting. Why ruin a perfectly blah evening?

It was my boyfriend's friend's birthday, and we suggested to eat here. (They offer a free meal if it's your birthday, as long as there's 4+ guests.) We've been to this location MULTIPLE times, and we usually have okay service. There's always open parking spots with proper lighting. We were welcomed as soon as we entered, and seated pretty quickly. We were informed we could wait and put in orders for drinks, rice, soups, wraps - or we could go ahead and head to the grill. We went and got our meal ready, and tonight, they were very well stocked with their variety of meats, vegetables, sauces, etc. There have been other times where a few different items were running extremely low, or just completely out. (mind you, some of those visits were closer to closing time.) As soon as we were ready to have the Chef cook our food, we placed our bowls on the counter. The cook for the night was someone we've never seen before. She greeted us with a smile and good evening. As we got to our table ready to dine, we noticed some noodles weren't cooked, or some were burnt. I didn't think of the 'burnt' noodles as a big issue, so I just mixed all my food together. Our waiter came and offered us soup and rice, and I picked the hot & sour soup. Their soup usually doesn't have much flavoring; however, tonight wasn't so bad. The waiter we had was very pleasant, as always. (I wish I could remember his name off the top of my head. He's GREAT!) Toward the end of my plate, I noticed a long strand of white/blonde hair. I immediately lost my appetite, and as soon I had eye contact with the greeter, she walked over to see if there was anything wrong. I pulled the hair out and told her, "I found this strand of hair in my food!" All she replied with was "Sorry, we DO have an open bar, so it could be ANYONE'S hair..." She then stated I was more than welcome to make a new plate, but I informed her I was DONE for the night. She asked if she could take my plate, and suggested I skip to dessert and have vanilla ice-cream. I politely told her no, and was just upset as everyone else was finishing their meals. As that same greeter was helping seat guests, she was also helping deliver ice-cream to those who requested some. The people at my table noticed that as soon as she dropped theirs off, she walked away and began to LICK some chocolate from her hand that drizzled from their serving. Did she walk to the bathroom or anywhere to wash her hands? NO. She went straight to the cash register and stood there. Gross. As they finished, I got up ready to pay. She took off one meal for my friend's birthday and said nothing about my complaint. Cool. I've never experienced their service to be this horrible before. (Not at ALL towards our waiter.) I was extremely upset with the customer service on the front end, or lack thereof, provided tonight. THIS wasn't the first time that same greeter has been seen with poor customer service. I'm upset it took me this long to yelp about it! UGHHH.

Lots seems to gave changed at Changs in the last year. New cooks, new items in the food line, new noodles. The food is still great. The services is always bad. Seems like the servers have to many tables or other tasks to do and can never handle there load. Even though its a three star spot its still a go to spot.

They have so many ingredients: several meats (including lamb), various seafood, lots of veggies, two different kids of noodles, more sauces than I can try. I have to be careful not to take more than I can eat. The soup and soft serve are not great, but the stir fry is the main attraction.

After my one time experience eating at the Mongolian grill somewhere in Federal Way I started searching another Mongolian grill a little closer and I found Chang's Mongolian Grill in Renton. This place is very close to home and on the way to my work. Out of curiousity I stop by and did all my choices. I was very excited about it but my ingredients wasn't good enough because the taste was somewhat okay. A week later I tried to follow carefully how much soy sauce, how much garlic, how much oil and etc. that I needed to mix in my noodles, meat, and vegetables. It was exciting really and required multiple try and error.

Use two bowls if you want lots of noodles to top things off. It'll save you a balancing act and they'll combine all it when they serve it. However if the line isn't too long just get one bowl at a time and go back for more. It'll let you play with the recipe and have a little variety. I liked this place, but didn't love it. The meat was a bit dry and I argued with my partner if the crapes were supposed to be edible or if they were hand wipes because they too were so dry.

The staff here seems bored but really nice... the food is basically what you'd expect (shaved frozen meat in every animal flavor) and priced decently for the 'all you can eat' aspect of it. They will bring you rice or rice roll up thingys (yes, I need another serving of carbs to go with my noodles please) and ice cream at the end. Beer and wine are available, soft drinks and such too of course. They are really cool about not charging my 4 year old to eat from our plates so I bumped them up a star from overall dining experience which is a solid 3: it's fine to eat there and you won't hate it but you won't wonder "why don't we eat here more often?"

As Mongolian Grill goes, this place is as good as any, and better than some. It's a true 'all-you-can-eat', hence the slightly higher prices. The ingredients seem sufficiently fresh. My recent visit was marred by the attitude of the host. I arrived at 5:07 (Chang's opens for dinner at 5pm). I was the first patron to arrive, and the 'open' sign was turned off and the main exterior sign was off. Wondering if they had changed their hours (they hadn't), I tried the door and found it open. There was no sign of any staff, then the host came out from the back. He looked downright annoyed that I was there, but showed me to a table. Fortunately, he was the only staff member who acted like a jerk. Everyone else was fine, especially my waitress, who was especially friendly and attentive. It is clear she 'gets' the concept of customer service, while the host did not. I recommend the management fire him and promote the waitress to hostess.

This place is solid. The food is fresh and there is always someone working the food/buffet area, keeping it stocked and clean. I know this is hard to do with a buffet line. The sauces are thined out, but it is possible to get a great flavor once you learn how. The meats are tasty as well as nice and fresh looking, all though at times frozen solid, especially the beef, makes it hard to get a serving. The seafood looks clean and fresh as well. The veggies are brightly colored and clean. The sauce area is usually where the mess is, liquid all over the place, food falling out of peoples bowls, etc. They even have fried tofu sometimes. The cooks are quick, friendly and efficient. My dishes always turned out good and full of flavor. I like to use the rice wraps they bring to the table. The soups that come with the meal are terrible, I always decline them. The soft-serve ice cream is bland, the fortune cookie, well its a fortune cookie. Service is quick and friendly. There was a point when I noticed a lot of employee turn over, but I have notice a consistant crew during my last coulpe of visits. This place is very good, and I will continue to go. Well worth the money. The place does get busy on Friday and Saturday nights. Chang's can get loud and messy quickly when parents don't control/mind their children, but this could be said about any place, but it is most noticible at a buffet style place. A solid 4 stars, keep doing what you do! Really like this place!

Food is fine, though the prep cook is lazy, the veggies are all chopped in different size chunks, the hot peppers especially are so butchered they are nearly unusable. Service is mediocre, cooks are friendly but tend to burn the food, and they're about the same price as jasmine...so over all, this place is only worth going to if your close, or get the half price deal on amazon local

Ok I think I've found what everyone's problem is when it comes to their sauce problem. You drown your shit in your desired sauces. I mean literally drown it. That way, when the hot grill evaporates the sauce off, at least you'll be left with some still. And dude, just ask the server for a bottle of hoisin and/or soy sauce. Duh. I have no problem with this place. I'm used to lackluster, borderline-rude "asian service." (Think pho place where the waiter speaks hardly any english and if you try to crack a smile to try to be nice he stares at you even more and your grin wavers and suddenly you feel like an idiot for even smiling) The servers have always been pleasant all the times I've been there. There is someone always cleaning the tables where they keep the food so that it's clean. And even if it's not, so what? Your messy ass probably contributed to the mess. Move on. Don't have a cow yo. Write to your senator to have some laws changed, while here just shove food in your mouth and eat. I always give my son a dollar or two so he can tip the cook(s). Used to be they gave a little show and did cool shit. Now it's just one lonely cook that looks kinda pissed off all the time but it's cool. It gets tiring smiling after a while. I get it. I also miss that one cook with the mustache and was ALWAYS smiling; even when he wasn't smiling, he just looked so happy and nice. Where did he go?? My son enjoys the ice cream at the end with the fortune cookie. Will be back =)

Great place, food is awesome. Horrible parking though when it gets busy, and you can't park on the street. You risk getting towed at the next lot. So when it's full, you have no choice but to leave. I'm not a fan of them closing mid day either if you wanted to try and avoid peak time. Night time is extremely pricy. I appreciate the free ice cream after meals, and waitresses are so sweet! Place can be a little bit neater. But overall very tasty.. definitely my go to Mongolian Grill.

They've expanded their seafood options for dinner. They now have salmon, shrimp (two different kinds), squid and white fish. There is nothing I love better having a plate of Mongolian Grill jam-packed with squid. Well, except for maybe a plate jam-packed with lamb! What I learned this night was that squid, while still cold in the buffet table, is an indistinguishable mass of pieces. And it isn't until when it is cooked that the pieces gets that recognizable doughnut shape. I did not know that! Even though you go get your own food, our waitress was as excellent as you would expect in a four star restaurant, making sure we had everything we needed, even sneaking us a couple extra bowls of soup. The Hispanic guy manning the grill is great. He seems to always be here and he is always smiling and maybe dancing a little or doing a little drum rift with his spatula on the grill. Oh, and you can reliably count on all their ingredients being fresh!

One of my favorite restaurant. I've visited the one on Capital Hill for years before they closed then Kent but now Renton. I love coming here. It's all you on how the food taste and how full you want to be. All you can eat "Mongolian" style. Assorted meat and vegetables made by you with various sauces. Rice and a thin wrap if you want with soup as much as you want. Ice cream in the end if you want. I think I like the idea of having it my way.

Friendly waitress and adequate items to be grilled (many meats, veggies, sauces, etc). There was a long wait at the grill though. The soft serve ice cream was grainy. :( I don't recommend this place.

Greeted with a smile. We were waited on immediately. We began our trek and obtained all the necessary items to make a mess on our plates. Our food was cooked before our eyes. Not much of a show by the chefs though while cooking. A bit spendy if your not overly hungy.

You never know what you have until you don't have it anymore. I left my first wife to go play Lavatized Mouse Trap with Obi Wan....as you can tell from the outfit, that didn't work out so well. I took the original Deathstar for granted, and then my kid (the hippie with the dumb idea that it'd be better for his career if he didn't get a haircut, not the one who could win Miss Galaxy Far, Far Away) went and blew it up, and that sucked too. And then we have Chang's, a longtime favorite of mine I gave up when I briefly left the Northwest. To say it wasn't one of the things I was most looking forward to getting back would be a lie. Sort of like when I told Han that the carbonite encaser was a hot tub. Dumbass. "But Darth", I can hear you already preparing to say, "Chang's is all over the Pacific Northwest, surely they had one where you lived". And you would be right. But it's not the same. It seems not all are created equal, and in this instance the original (or rather, the original after it was displaced from its old location up near SCCC) stands above the rest. First, there's the cleanliness factor. Trust me when I say most Chang's are....questionable with regards to their janitorial upkeep. This one generally ensures the sauces aren't splattered in each other, on the floors, on the walls, all over the little Jedi's room, etc. Then there's the issue that they actually have more food selections at this one than they do most of the others. This particular one is the only one I've found that offers squid, for example. It's also the only one that offers the full array of veg during the lunch hours. I'm docking it a point because the service can at times be somewhat questionable, and it appears the original owner is no longer manning the grill anymore. Otherwise, I can honestly say it pleases me greatly that I have this place nearby again. I'll work on coming to grips with the fact that I don't have James Earl Jones to lip sync to another time. 4 Deathstars

If you're incredibly hungry, but don't want to eat a bunch of incredibly unhealthy food: Go to Chang's. You can make your dish as healthy or unhealthy as you want. I've been to some Mongolian grills where they limit you to 1 bowl, or they limit you to pre-made sauces, but Chang's does not do such things. Ever. They have a little guide line for making your dish mild medium or spicy with the mixture of the sauce ingredients. Personally, I follow the mix for each bowl I prepare (usually 2), and I double the ginger, garlic, and hot oil. Taaaasty. Sometimes I'll get noodles in my dish. When I don't, I find that I tend to eat more by going back for seconds. Plus when I nix the noodles, I always use a few of their wraps. What else do you get besides their unlimited bar of food? Unlimited: soup rice wraps Ice cream with sauce drink refills (even the lemonade) sriracha sauce/soy sauce/sesame seeds/chili flakes/etc All in all, it's a great deal. Chang himself usually mans the grill here, and he does a great job. If you're going to go, dinner time is best. They have more ingredients on their bar during the dinner run. They have calamari, shrimp, mushrooms, and a few other ingredients they don't serve during lunch. Service is hit or miss. They've always been friendly to us. You do make your own plate and bring it back to the table with you. Unless you're getting some of the aforementioned "unlimited" items, you only need the wait staff for drink refills anyway.

We have been going to Changs for a while now and enjoy it every time. We do not go for atmosphere, but it is not bad. The mongolian BBQ is very good. If it is not, who can you blame, they give you a guide on what to put on it, and they cook it for you. The cooks are very entertaining and the service is pretty good. The hot and sour soup is as good as any place serves and I could practically drink the hoisin sauce. You get it served with wraps and rice and the rest is up to how much you can eat. We usually go for lunch and cannot beat it.

This place has come a long ways. I used to eat at another location back in the 90's. This location does a great job of having the right mix of meats, oils, sauces and veggies. This is hands down my favorite local Mongolian grill. Only flaws to this place is the service can be a little on the slow side.

i don't expect much service here... i come for the oodles of noodles! i also come to chang's because i know what i'm getting. i don't like that some mongolian grills are only a one-time-through thing. FEED ME. the only reason that i don't give 4 stars are because the rice servings they provide are small and i have to ask for more. also, the guys manning the grills always seem to be talking about someone, much like when you get your nails done. or maybe it's just paranoia. but once i get my delicious meat/veg/noodle concoction, all is good and well in my world again.

This was my first visit to a Monogolian BBQ in the PNW. Overall not a bad experience. Gave me the chance to mix my own sauces which is fun and also lets you add all the veggies you want (very healthy). Also like how they can add the spicy sauce to it while it cooks. Not a all the time sort of place but was a good change. Seating is not fantastic. Parking spaces are small and space is limited.

The server was nice and the soup was good....that's about it!! The iced tea taste like coffee, the dude at the grill burnt the noodles and cooked the meat so long all the sauce evaporated. I oy give changs 4 Stars for the food. I used to work at Changs in Kent when I was younger. I ate tw food everyday and never got sick of it, as there are hundreds if not thousands of different combinations you can make. I love the food. I live in a place where there is no Mongolian Grill and whenever I am passing through the Seattle area I make an effort to grab some Changs. Sadly, the service here has declined since I worked here. I had to ask for everything I needed, which usually is just brought out and the iced tea was rancid. But because I love the food so much I only decucted one star not 2.

Really enjoyed the food, the key is to have at least 3 bowls of food per visit because the line can get pretty long. Really inexpensive for quality food, they have really lean lamb, a variety of different sauces and oils to cook your food in. If you disliked your food, you really only have yourself to blame LOL.The cooks were really friendly and seemed to really enjoy what they do. I will be a repeat customer!

3 stars or 4 stars? The jury was out for a while, since I enjoyed the food and the place at the time but later suffered an upset stomach. I'm pretty sure the stomach issue came from all the food being mixed around on the grill with the same spatula - there were fish options in the buffet line and I'm allergic to fish and probably my noodles and veggies got a little fishy badness mixed in. I'm still going with 4 stars though because the chef was awesome (and a great percussionist) and I think that if I had asked him to be extra careful with my food he would have, and it wouldn't have been a problem. I really enjoyed the lineup of food. There were tons of veggies to choose from and they were all super fresh. The sauce options were also varied and they had a great garlic-chili sauce for adding to the finished product that wasn't too oily or salty the way those sauces tend to be. The price was within normal bounds for a Mongolian grill and you could go back as many times as you wanted, which of course we took advantage of. And, at the end of the meal, they give you a dish of soft serve ice cream if you want! I don't spend a lot of time in Renton but I would definitely come back here if I were in the area.

The food is quite fresh here! I love what they offer. I've loved going here since they relocated from Kent to Renton. I just wish they got a bit more...ethnic haha. The atmosphere is normal, nothing out of the ordinary, but I wish it was. I think they were playing country music while I ate mongolian, but that's just me lol. Still, the staff is usually really cool, and I love the food. Plus it's super cheap during lunch!! it was less than $15 for the buffet, a side of rice and soup, and ice cream at the end. :D Now, I've gone with others, and the ones who didn't like it were the ones who were used to other forms of mongolian or teriyaki. They would think it's bland. I like simple food - the meats, noodles, sauces, and roasted pepper flakes/sesame seeds do it for me. Others will want sriracha or something on their food, which is like the only thing they eat with asian food lol, and find that this doesn't meet their usual asian needs. *shrugs*

Used to love the one on Broadway and really liked the one in Kent. This one is pretty ghetto. Food was good. Our waitress was nice but didn't speak a word of English (and other customers were literally screaming at her - she doesn't have a hearing problem.............) When we went to get seconds the people at the table behind stole all our condiments and wrappers (really cool...............). Had an entertainment coupon but it was still $47 for 2 adults and 2 kids. Not a bargain but I might come back for lunch sometime and just eat mongolian grill with plum sauce in wrappers til I can't walk!

I come here for the noodles, beef, & pineapple. Nothing else. If I ever add just a bit too much sesame oil though, I get sick the next day. Overall, I love the food, the service is pretty good, & the complimentary ice cream at the end is sweet. There are at least two main chefs there. One smiles as he takes your bowl, plays tunes on the grill, & smiles as he gives you your food. The other chef doesn't smile or say anything, even when you thank him. I don't like the way he cooks my noodles as much as the other chef, but oh well. Too bad they don't have takeout. They also don't accept American Express.

Came here for dinner with my family. The food was good and filling. I like that there are no restrictions on portion size or the kind of meat you want. Everything was good. Only thing I wasn't too happy about was the 15% graditude we all had to pay but I guess that is expected now a days for large parties. The food was good.

Ooh, was not a fan of this place. The sauces were diluted so not flavorful, the meats and veggies were not fresh, and overall flavor was poor. Should've stuck with my skeptical instinct when I heard of an all-you-can-eat Mongolian restaurant.

It's alright. I'll be back again, I'm sure. I am still looking for a Mongolian Grill that's better though.1st time I came here, we were thirty minutes before they closed for lunch and they sent us away. But we came back later in the week. They offer wraps, which are my favorite. The service was friendly, but the two servers working were chatting loudly across the dining room at each other and I kept seeing one server on their cell phone. That's a seriously unprofessional move. Don't take your cell phone out and start text messaging in front of guests. It's beyond rude. Our server was a tall young man, he was very friendly and personable. The only thing I might change is the music selection. It was loud and inappropriate for the setting.

I was craving mongolian the night I went to changs but unfortunately my craving went very unfulfilled. positives.... I suppose the staff wasn't too bad... it was all you can eat??? if you actually enjoyed the food... Ice cream and a fortune cookie at the end! negatives.... everything was soooo bland!! all of the sauces were like water (so thin) that the second your bowl hit the grill the sauces would instantly evaporate! everything was cooked but there was no flavor! since they also offer soups I ordered a hot and sour soup cuz it's one of my favorites but even that was tasteless! and maybe this is a personal thing but i've never been to a mongolian place without teryaki sauce!! very dissapointed...

For a late night dinner, this place hit the spot. We'd taken a two hour drive and got close to home when we decided to hit up Chang's and try out their Mongolian grill. I loved that it was buffet style, and that you can go back up for more food as much as your stomach will allow you to. Though they were 30 minutes from closing, all the foods were available for us. The wait staff was all friendly and smiles. The food was cooked just right, and the atmosphere was comfortable. The price was decent... $12.95 for all-you-can-eat dinner. Plus you get soup, rice, and ice cream.

This wonderful place used to reside up on Broadway in 2004, but due to landlord issues moved to Renton. Now it's located right next to the airport and a U-Haul and it's still worth the drive! They have a cheap lunch deal and it's all you can eat for one price. You also get wraps with your meal, so you may want to pass on adding noodles to your dish. The cooks are incredible, they understand how to grill your food to perfection, make sure to tip them! You also get free ice cream but who has room for it after all that good meat and veggies. Definitely get the frequent buyers card to get some free food in the future. The only draw back is no take-out. So come hungry.

The hostess was an idiot, but the waiter and the food was first rate. We had never been here or a place like this before, and the hostess was too busy on her cell phone to bother introducing us to the concept or the way it works, or what is included with the meal. The waiter was super nice and everything worked out fine. The food was delicious and the chef was very good. You can make your meal the way you want, so that was very unique and it could be as healthy or not as you please. You can mix up your own sauces and go back for more and different. They give you rice and wraps, soup and some ice cream, if you like.

I used to be a resident of Kent a few years ago and frequented Chang's at least once a week. The fact that it's all-you-can-eat puts it as a topper in my book but that you can actually change it up every time you have them cook it on their huge wok rates it up there too! They serve you rice and wraps to accommodate your dish - I always left happy. The interior is a bit drab and the lighting poor. The staff was always so nice and efficient. Every time we're in Seattle we make a visit to Changs.

Still very good. It's a buffet but not really a buffet. Here's how it works: grab a couple bowls, one for meat(s) and the other for veggies, load 'em up, toss some sauces on top, present them to the chef(s) and let them do their magic. Bring some $1 bills to tip the chef, especially if he's hustling and getting a lot of people in the lunch rush moving through. A server will bring you choice of soup, rice and wraps (if you choose to have one or both of them). After you're done (it's all you can stomach, so you could go up again) the server will bring a small dish of soft serve vanilla ice cream if you like. For two of us, it cost about $21 with tax and tip. Minor issues: lunch during the week is busy but it appears they always have enough seating, even for groups of 4-6. They only do one card per check... bring cash or be the one of your group stuck paying for everyone. Parking is sometimes sort of an issue but you aways can find a space somewhere. The southernmost part of the lot is smaller and you usually do better to go to the northern side (across the fence from Cowgirls Espresso).

Good concept. Execution was so-so. I took the family out for dinner on a Sunday night. Easy to get to and park, it wasn't very busy for a late Sunday. There wasn't a kids menu but it was only $2 for our 2yo and 50% off adult an price for the 8yo. The dining area and service were somewhere between Denny's and Sizzler. Casual and I wasn't worried about the 2yo throwing a tantrum. The ingredient bar was average in terms of quality and variety. The meats were all semi frozen and sliced very thin. It actually worked out ok though. I passed on the "seafood". It was probably fine just wasn't in the mood. I went mostly veggie with bean sprouts, cabbage and onions. They had fresh cilantro which was nice. Sauces seemed a bit watered down, I had to add soy and oyster sauce after the fact to kick up the flavor. In a nutshell, underwhelming and average.

Oh Chang's how have you fallen so far??! This is my first time to the Chang's in Renton. I use to frequent the old Chang's location in Kent. My experience this time was not so good. First I'd like to say the shining star of the place was the staff! The host at the front door and our server were spectacular. After that there is not much good to say. The selection of food and sauces was lacking, and the food was burnt! Myself and three friends went through the line twice and both times our noodles and veggies were burnt. It seemed as if they did not have enough cooks for the amount of people that were there. I felt bad for the one guy hustling his ass off to get everything cooked! Unfortunately, I would not recommend this place to anyone. There are far better places to have Mongolian at. Maybe they just had an off day and the cook was worked to hard. But not a good first impression at this location.

THis was the place of choice for my coworkers when I worked in Renton. Personally, I think t hat Chang's is alright. I like the concept. However, I've seen it done better, much better. The meat here looks questionable to me, and there are not a ton of options, or at least not what I'm used to seeing at a mongolian grill. There are not enough choices in terms of sauces and spices. The motif isn't like the mongolian grill that I miss in Michigan. The premise there, but it is just lacking. The good thing about this place though is it is extremely cheap. I believe I went there for lunch and it was roughly 7 dollars or so, and at other places I've seen the charges be much higher.

Looking for a cheap place to eat dinner in the renton area? Chang's will fill you up and make leave feeling like you got more bang for your buck. This is your normal buffet style restaurant where you fill you bowl with as much food as you want, then walk it over to a giant wok and they cook it in front of you. At $12.95 a person (for dinner) you get all you can eat wok, soup, rice, and a little dish if soft serve ice cream with a fortune cookie at the end. Just know that they do not allow take home (unless your server is really nice like ours was)

This place is more of a 3.5 restaurant. If you like a good sized meat and seafood selection this place is worth a visit. I prefer more vegetable options and they were lacking in that aspect. The price is average considering that the drink, soup and wraps are included the price. They have several different sauces available and suggestions for your taste preference. This place is average at best.

I used to go to the Kent location until they closed it. If you have never been to a Chang's Mongolian Grill then you need to Google maps the address, print it off, get off the computer, and head there right now. It is 100 times better than any other Mongolian grill restaurant. You get to choose exactly what you want in it, and even make your own sauce which the noodles, meat, and vegetables are cooked in making the whole thing as flavorful as you want it. They then fry it in front of you which is pretty entertaining. You also get rice and thin wrappers along with ice cream included in the price of your meal along with the fact that the food is all you can eat. If you get there at lunch it is a lot cheaper and the same exact thing, so I recommend looking up the times for lunch and getting there early. I knocked off a star because of the fact that the parking lot is really small and difficult to get in and out of, and the staff aren't always the happiest or friendliest.

I regularly ask myself if I'm crazy. Really... I do... And as I sat in this restaurant eating my "Mongolian grill" I realized that I had to be crazy to continue going to different restaurant after different restaurant just so I could Yelp each one. The food was OK, but its hard to screw up raw meat and vegetables. They were supposed to have a seafood option, but no one bothered to fill the two pans while I was their. In fact, on one even bothered to check the table while I was their. Different foods where mixed in with other foods and the table was a huge mess. Service was close to the worst service I have ever had. First they sat me at a dirty table, when most of the restaurant was empty, then when the waiter asked me what I wanted to drink, I asked for a diet coke. He laughed. Let me repeat that, he laughed... I then proceeded to look at him funny and he quickly stated, "oh, we're out." I ask him if he had any other diet sodas and he stated, "no" and just looked at me. How about location? Well... It sucks. It located right in the middle of a strip mall with a couple of the big stores shut down. Maybe I should just give up and bring my lunch to work...

A good place for a fast lunch with co-workers if you work nearby. As mongolian grill food goes, this is not the best I've had. As regular food goes, there's no way to avoid having fresh ingredients and a general sense that you're getting your money's worth when you eat here. I also love noodles, grilled, fried or boiled any possible way, so it's hard not to like this option. No, they've never had much 'seafood (probably canned) when I've gone, but that's probably better for me anyway. Yes, your clothes will probably smell of grease when you leave (typical of an open-cooking environment). Yes, the parking lot is kind of small, and annoyingly paved on a slant. No, I don't care about the soft serve ice cream at the end -although if you got root beer, you could make yourself a float. No take-home bags, but that makes perfect sense to me: it's a buffet, silly. I'm not really sure how the chefs get tipped (and I end up tipping) without a ubiquitous gong to hit..

Chang's built this restaurant from the ground up. The decor is chain-like, but nice and I've always been fairly pleased with the service. The staff doesn't really have a lot to do other than clear plates and refill drinks because you really do most of the work. The cool part of this restaurant is that you get to decide exactly what you want to eat. You choose a variety of meats, vegetables, and sauces and then the cooks fry it up on a big hot grill. Tips allowed. You can opt for a one time through or an all-you-can-eat option. Meals come with soft-serve ice cream. Parking can be challenging here - but not impossible.

As mentioned, this place has lamb. I really enjoyed me meal and will be back. I was surprised with the number of different seasonings that were options.

My favorite Mongolian grill around. All the bowls you want, as heaping full as you want. Meals come with soup, wraps, and ice cream!

If you want good food this is not your place. If you want friendly service go somewhere else. If you want a place that is honest and follows through with their advertising and isn't full of lies once again this is not the right restaurant. I went online prior to going and it said the price was 8.25. When I went there I argued with the manager on duty and she kept saying that it is not her fault that the website is wrong and that she doesn't control what they post online. Their cards have the website listed on it and it just redirects to the updated website. How hard would it have been to change the price online or honor the price that is listed? Maybe post something in the store that says that the price has changed and the website is out of date. Also if it is a known problem try fixing it and not arguing with the customer that just drove way out of the way to go to Mongolian grill. The service had a lot to desire. I asked the cook to simply cook my food in a certain order he smiled nodded and didn't do a thing I asked. The service was also very slow... But that could be because there was one girl working the entire floor. I have had better quality food at Taco Bell (enough said). At least I now know not to return to Chang's. Regards, Adam

Changs is the BEST. I cant say enough about this chain. This location doesnt have the atmosphere of some of the others though. You get to create your own masterpiece of a meal (or two or three) and then have a couple brave souls cook for you over a hot huge Mongolian grill-top. The location that used to be on Broadway in Seattle was the best for atmosphere. If you go during dinner you get more selection, including a wider variety of seafood. Dont skimp on the garlic ! oh, and you get great soft serve icecream at the end of your meal.

I'm a Chang's addict. I love the food, the soup, and the ice cream. Can be kind of spendy if your not very hungry. My hubby and I always go to Chang's when we are starved. If your have food allergies this isn't a good place to go though. I always have parts of others food in my meal.

The service was decent, nothing special; but the frozen meats, shrimp, fish left very little to be desired. I suppose it doesn't matter since everything is going in the grill anyways, but it just didn't seem fresh. I could have done the same thing at home. So, I don't know. $12.95 per person, $2.25 for tea, $2.25 for sprite, total for 2 adults, 1 child = too much for not so great food. Maybe next time. Nah.

I love this place so much and it pains me to know that if the other Chang's have been an accurate indicator it won't be around long. I really miss the Capital Hill location.

UGH ~ OK, I WAS REALLY CRAVING MGBQ FOOD over the last few months and came on here and read the reviews by my fellow foodies. Since I was closest to Chang's in Renton, we decided to go there. They've got a nice set up with plenty of choices - but I still went with the beef and piled high with vegys. Also, I'm not use to noodles when I go Mongolian. In SoCal most of the places do rice (if you are in southern calif the best most spectacular MB is called "Mongolian Barbeque Pan Asia" in Costa Mesa - been around for decades, hole in the wall absolute hands down the best!!) and fat noodles don't appeal to me so I was glad that Changs offered rice too. Having a choice of both is always a good thing and feels generous. Anyway, everything went well except that at the end of their buffet are all these sauces. I was looking for "lobster" curry oil and barbeque oil sauce" and that wasn't there. So I piled on the ginger and sherry and went for the minced garlic oil and chili oil sauces. Now, I don't like my food real greasy or slick - I'm looking for FLAVOR baby...so I was hoping my concoctions gave me that old familiar taste I was craving in a good healthy bowl of Mongolian BQ. I stood in a rather long line but it moved fairly quickly as the grill guys were keeping it going. I noticed they constantly splashed water on the food to keep it from burning. I get mine back all hot and steaming and use a healthy dash of "sesame" bits that is in a jar at the end of the bar after he hands my plate back to me. I was happy with the way things looked, not too greasy, just the right amount until I took a bite. Can you say tasteless???? I added some plum and chili sauce, still lacking flavor though. I asked the server for some spicy hot mustard and powdered garlic and was told that they didn't have any. Don't have any hot mustard??!!! Also, the "wraps" you can stuff your food in were bland stiff thin rice paper style wraps. I'm not use to those either. All the other places I've eaten in Calif have these round little puffy biscuits that are warm and you slice open and stuff everything inside and they are heavenly! All I can say about Changs is you get your money's worth if all you are looking at is HOW much food you can eat but something is wrong with those sauces. They are low quality or something. I went back to the buffet and tried it again just to do it differently and all I ended up with was bland tasteless but MORE greasy food than before. Now let me tell you - the one restaurant in Calif I mentioned before doesn't give you half of what Changs does but the flavor is spectacular and one huge bowl is most often very sufficient because it tasted soooo good. (you can also get all you can eat there too)...so I guess I will have to keep looking for that same feeling and quality you get at Pan Asia in Costa Mesa Calif. The positive moment at Changs - the vanilla icecream at the end. It was actually quite good and got rid of the bland oily taste lingering around the edges of my tastebuds so all in all when you think about it, we paid over 12.00 dollars for a small dish of icecream. One last comment - the eggdrop soup is nothing to rave about. So I came away disappointed with Changs and will seek out other places for my FIX. New edit: For awhile I thought this location had closed...everytime we went there on the weekend nobody was around..it appears they have either re-opened or they inexplicably don't open for lunch on saturdays! STRANGE!

We went to Changs last night (rainier ave) due to the reviews on Yelp, so I am here to even it out a bit. The food was sub par for a Mongolian restaurant, our server was acting like we were bothering / taking up her time, the sauces were completely watered down (since when is soy sauce see through), the bowls are small takes two for just one plate, the cook burnt our food from letting it sit on the grill to long, and the parking lot holds maybe ten cars. Now the good part Changs has the BEST fortune cookie I have ever tasted, my fortune sucked but the cookie was good. We will not be going back to Changs in the future... Just FYI there is a fantastic Mongolian across from Target near Southcenter in a strip mall. Happy Eats

The service sucks most times, but its pretty much self serve so I can get by that. The food is excellant so I can put up with the lack of service and the somewhat odd hours (they are open till 11am or something adn then reopen at 5pm, not ideal if your hung over on a saturday or sunday).

I'm sure they're not making as much money at this location as they were at the Broadway location, since this new location doesn't get any foot traffic. The price remains reasonable; I only go there for lunch and it's about $10 (after tax and tip).

I used to love going to the Mongolian grill in Bellevue until they shut down, so I was happy to find one in Renton. It's a little out of the way for me, but I was glad I went. The food and the servers were great, but the only down side is... don't get their Hot and Sour soup.... it was very very sub par. But who cares? People are there for the main course, right? :)
