I had the combo sandwich for lunch during a business trip. It was an exceptional sandwich. The bread is fantastic, the vegetables were fresh and the meat was hand sliced real meat, not the gross gelatin processed meat. A half was more than plenty and was reasonably priced. Great lunch spot.

My favorite sandwich shop of all time, but in biased since I've been eating Meconis subs for nearly 20 years. Salami, Pastrami and Capicola EVERY TIME without fail and I'm still not tired of it. I don't know what it is but I'm a big fan of the way they do the lettuce and onions. With extra mayo. *drool*

Here's the skinny: nothing here is skinny. This quaint little sandwich shop standing directly across from a subway repeatedly proves it's worth and why it has been able to stay afloat across the sub sandwich king across the street. Their sub sandwiches are phenomenal. I ordered only the half since it was significantly cheaper. I also asked for a small potato salad, drink, and cookie. All things together I spent twelve dollars. When the food arrived my mind was blown. The half sand which is almost the size of a subway footlong! Amazing. The food was all delicious as well and I could never imagine eating a subway on any trip I make to Olympia. Five stars 100%.

Not sure what happened, but the whole combo on wheat I got today was a sandwich with a couple of small broken pieces of ham & turkey. What happen to the quality of a Meconi's sub? I'm afraid to say I'm not coming back and would advise others to do the same if I don't hear back from them. I have emailed them and left a comment review on their website. We'll see how they respond.

Meconi's is so seriously overrated. Before the original Lacey store was remodeled, they offered the best meatball sub, in the known universe. Now, all Meconi's stores offer a bland, bready, tasteless clusterf**k. Impossible to recommend. Have to say, Subway makes 'em better. Sad, aye.

I absolutely love Meconi's! The Italian sandwich is my go to sandwich. Everything is made fresh, and the service is excellent. Try the fresh baked cookies. You won't be disappointed!

To start, the bread is soft and amazing for any of their subs. We had the roast beef sub, turkey breast sub and combo (turkey, ham & chicken). Fresh ingredients and they were all well made and tasty. Decent pricing for the quality of sandwich and the half sandwich is plenty, even if you really hungry. We will be going back!

I love this place!! the soup is great, the bread and the sandwiches are perfect! great service, good location and the food is amazing and large portions but above all the taste is perfection, if you have not been here you should go!!

I'm not sure what the big deal with this sandwich shop is. Long wait in line, A-ok subs and macaroni salad with heavy gross mayo. The tables and windows were pretty disgustingly dirty also. The service was friendly at least and I did see a table of kids taking selfies like it was some big event to be here but I've had a better sandwich experience at a certain chain freaky fast place that blows this one away. I am going to assume this restaurant has nostalgia going for it with the locals that accounts for it's popularity but the next time one suggests Meconi's, I will thankfully pass.

An ok lunch option. Sandwiches come with a lot of bread. Flavors are on the bland side and not many options for toppings. Romaine lettuce, tomato and mayo.... That's about it. They have pretty good chicken Phillies and great snicker doodle cookies. You can call ahead which is nice for a crazy work day. Will I go again yes, but it's never my top choice.

The bread is what makes their sandwich, the meat is flavorful as well compared to tasteless stale subway sandwiches. Half is plenty for one person and the shop is nice for a sandwich place. I wish they had one in Centralia. Service was eh, I had never been there before and he seemed impatient and not as helpful as I would have appreciated, but oh well the sandwich made up for it.

My favorite sandwich in all the land of Olympia used to be Meconi's turkey breast. I've had a few of them over recent years and I see a serious shift in the turkey to shredded lettuce ratio. Many moons ago there was an abundance of poultry accompanied by oil, cheese, and lettuce served on a nice soft bread. Now it is an abundance of shredded lettuce with a vein of turkey, and some oil and cheese. The bread is still pretty good though. I'm not going to take a total #%*+ on the place. I can't speak about anything else on their menu. When I find something I love such as the turkey breast I tend to stick with it. It's still better than a lot of other sub shops at a similar price. The staff are usually nice with a good hustle. The joint is always clean. It's a shame that the turkey breast sandwich has gone down hill. Now my favorite sandwich is the Jake at Dirty Dave's. Wally's on the west side is pretty good as well. Rest in peace my dear turkey breast. I must move on now but you will not be forgotten.(sniffle, sniffle, sigh)

Honestly, I'm not a happy camper right now. I ordered seven 6" Philly Cheesesteak subs for my team today. I have made the exact same order several times and they've been OUTSTANDING! Today, the meat was dry, the cheese was stale, and there were no onions or green peppers on any of them...honestly, they were some of the worst subs that I've ever had. Who doesn't put onions and green peppers on a Philly Cheesesteak?!? I'll be sticking to the Lacey location from here on out. Biggest waste of $50, yet. :(

The best subs! The bread is so soft and delicious. They also offer gluten free bread for all you Celiac's out there. The staff is friendly and it's actually pretty quick to get your order (if you don't hit the lunch rush.) They are affordable. Skip Subway, Meconi's is the only way to go!

This location is in a newer building and its interior reflects the newness in its stark simplicity. The line can be intimidating but it moves quickly. Since it's near the capitol campus, lunch time can be a real mess, but everyone's in a good mood for these tasty sandwiches. Their chilli is good too, a savory and a little sweet. I prefer their other location because of its charm, but there is ample street parking (considering it's downtown Olympia) and I feel this location has more staff to accommodate the larger crowds. For eat-in, sharing a large sub is enough, but if I'm taking out, I get the whole sub for myself. The restroom is located in the common area of the building, but it was clean.

I read the reviews and thought I would try it. You see I don't like a lot of extras and always hate paying for the extras. So when I just got meat cheese and bread. They piled it on I was so happy! Great food!!

I dream of meconis constantly. Their veggie sub is soooooo good. Add some mustard and just go ahead. Die happy right there. And their bread is wonderful. Aaaaand now I want meconis. I don't understand why anyone would go to subway or Quiznos when meconis is an option.

I live in Arizona and travel to Olympia about 4-6 times a year. Whenever I'm there I make sure I come in for a veggie sub! Everything there is made with quality ingredients and you can tell. Also the bread tops it off perfectly so it's the greatest sub!

Delicious! The whole sandwich is huge. I should have ordered the half. Oh well :) Ryan got the Philly cheese steak and I got the Italian. I thought the Italian was better but I was a fan of both. Just about the best bread I've ever had. Holy moly! Skip subway (across the street) and support the local guy.

The classic local sub shop. The half sub is plenty large for most folks, but if you got the feed bag on, then the full sub will satisfy the largest of appetites. My favorite is the Italian which has salami and capicola, an Italian ham. There is only one bread, which is a fine sub bread; it doesn't get soggy from the mayo or oil like at Subway. The new store lost some of the old charm but it does have excellent A/C. They probably moved 4 years ago into a modern building with great AC. They got a wonderfully chaotic local message board and seattle urban papers by the door.The old store used to boast about being "from the east coast," but Meconi's seems to have lost that tag line. I'm from New York and I never thought belonging to any "coastal" club! I'm guessing the out-of-towers go to the Subway across the street. Don't take the subway unless you are trying to go uptown!

Pretty good sandwiches that are convenient for on the go. The tomatoes suck! They are always mealy and have no flavor at best. It's unfortunate because I love tomatoes. Even though I know they're going to be awful, I don't cancel them from the order, in hopes there may be one good tomato someday... nope! Always chuck them off my sandwich. What's up with charging 49 cents just to heat a sandwich, that's ludicrous.

Now I've eaten a ton of sandwiches in my lifetime. I had an option of 3 sandwich shops all in the same vicinity. I chose this place because it had a clean, fresh look to it. I wasn't disapointed! My sandwich sub was so soft it melted in my Mouth and the half sub was still too big for me!

Meconis is so much better than subway it's not close. For a dollar more, live a little. Order the double meat Italian, with peppers and the whole nine yards. The lines are long for a reason.

It's the bread. 1/2 size subs are filling. VERY filling. And fresh. One curiosity - they charge 23 cents extra to toast your sub. (46 for a full size). Not 20 not 25 - but 23 cents precisely. (They must have a hell of a cost accountant to know how much extra - to the cent - to charge for toasting). The fact they charge at all for toasting - especially to the cent- seems a bit chintzy , to me.

this place has been a staple since my college days 8 years ago. i've since come back due to my rotations in the area. theyre subs are HUGE. fresh quality ingredients from the meats they use to the condiments .. and everything in between. i think the last sub i ate was the italian and my oh my it was delicious. the salami and capicola, i die. i think i would opt not for the onions and lighter on the mayo due to personal preference but those are easily changeable. drinks and chips are an additional charge and the subs are a little spendy for a whole but it is sooooooo worth it. i can't wait to come back :]]]

I honestly dont know what the hub-bub is about this place. I dislike Subway and this place is better than Subway but really , that isnt saying much. This place is expensive for a sandwich - over 8 for a whole sandwich. I hate that you have to pay EXTRA to have your sandwich toasted. For crying out loud - seriously???????? It costs 49 cents to run a sandwich through a broiler? really? AND, if you want olives - IT"LL COST YA - .46cents Even, if you ask to have something that comes standard on the sandwich removed. So, I save you money on pepperocinis, tomatos, and lettuce, but you charge me if I want to add olives or pickles? Really? This practice just pisses me off frankly and it is enough to make not come here. I hate feeling like I am nickeled and dimed. I never have a real feeling that my business is appreciated either. The workers I have encountered are ho hum and not over friendly. BUT since this place is close to a bunch of state workers, they may just stay in business..... This place is over rated in my opinion. If you want a good sandwich head down town to Little Richards on 5th avenue. NOW THAT'S A SANDWICH!

I came in yesterday after the procession parade. I'm not from Olympia and was looking forward to a snack on the drive back to Seattle. After ordering my food and fountain drink I was disappointed that their machine was out of ice. After letting the girl know at the counter that their machine was out of ice, she snapped back with "there's nothing I can do about that" and continued to take orders. After waiting in line AGAIN to ask for a refund for my soda (I wanted ice in my soft drink) the young lady at the counter grabbed my receipt, smacked it on the counter, and snarled "I'm not allowed to do refunds" OK, I get it. It was procession. It was busy all day I'm sure. But for such and established business, you would think that they would be prepared for a day like this. Working in customer service my myself, I was shocked by the behavior of this girl. I will never go back and will continue to tell my Olympian friends about my experience.

I have eaten at this place for years. It is a staple in Olympia. That being said the sandwhiches are just average. I had a roast beef sandwich and didn't think there was very much meat on it. The half sandwich is a good size, 8 inches I would bet. What you get is just a straight up sandwich. Nothing special. Nothing to make it more than ordinary. And as other people have noted in their reviews, if you ask for more than ordinary there is a charge. They charge to heat your sandwich, they charge for anything beside the basic sandwich toppings. All in all it is just and ordinary okay sandwich.

I finally tried this place at the urging of coworkers. Since the name is "Meconi's Italian Subs, 'From the East Coast,'" and I've had Italian subs in New York, I had to try one of their's. It was a basic Italian sub with salami, capicola, and veggies on a white roll. It was okay, but nothing to jump up and down about. There was a lot of bread, very little meat, and it was dry. I did notice on the menu that they use Hormel meats. When I think of Hormel I think back to the time I was driving by the meat processing plants in Omaha in the middle of the night -- what a horrible smell. Oops...I digress. Anyway, not a bad sub -- not a great sub. I will probably give it another shot since the people at work seem to think they're the best.

I decided to update my review of Meconis and reduce the four star rating to three stars. The main reason I have reduced the rating is because I believe Meconis has begun to count the amount of meat and secondary ingredients that they put on their sandwiches. They also charge you an extra cost for "extras," like, $1.99 for extra cheese on a whole or 12-inch sandwich. My argument with this is that I will have them remove tomatoes and onions from my sandwich, but I'm charged $1.59 if I want them to add olives. Wait a second, Meconis! I actually saved you product, by having you remove tomatoes and onions, but you're going to nickle and dime me because I want olives!? That's BAD business and BAD for the customer. My final concern is that Meconis has increased their prices, without increasing their customer service or quality of their products. Meconis, you want me to pay $8.29 for an average turkey sub? I don't think so. Businesses need to understand that dissatisfied customers quickly equates to no customers and during these tough economic times reasonable price increases must also be matched with applicable increases in product quality.

Great sub sandwiches! Better than the two sandwich options across the street, by far. Very fresh bread and ingredients and reasonably priced. The service is above average, too. Bring a friend who can circle the block while you order to-go. I have never been lucky enough to find a parking spot at lunch time.

I'm really not a sandwich lover, in general. But I absolutely ADORE the subs and Meconi's!! The bread is incredible and really makes the sandwich (and I don't even like bread). A "half" sub, which runs about 8-9 inches long, will cost less than $5 but will more than fill you up. They only have one kind of cheese (provolone), but it's so good you won't miss the choices. And they put oil and vinegar on every sandwich. I could eat here every day if it was within walking distance to work. My faves are the ham and the turkey. Try it, you'll love it!

Like many other reviewers have said, it's just not that good! My wife and I were disappointed in their extreme lack of vegetarian options. There was a lot of bread, very little meat, gross wilted lettuce, and overall the sandwich was dry. The bread was good (almost too chewy), but the rest I could have picked up at the grocery store on my way home. And the prices were fairly high for a simple sandwich. Next time I'll go to Subway.

Went here with my Uncle, Aunt, Family and My mom who was here from Out Of State. We all loved our sandwiches a lot! The bread is so freaking soft & Fresh, we really enjoyed our food. My mom went back before she left to the Airport to grab a sandwich to take home on the plane!!

Yet another landmark that I was really excited to try, but highly disappointed. I know that there are plenty of people that love this place and I could have gone on an off day, but after trying the combo I was really really really surprised by what I had. The sandwich was bland as hell! I did notice the hot sandwiches and totally plan on venturing back to try them, I'm just not in any hurry. The service was great though, everyone seemed to be happy!

BEST SANDWICH I'VE EVER HAD!!!! Did you see how many exclamation points I used? And that I used all capital letters to drive this point across? Hyperbole aside, I really enjoyed the food here. The bread was to die for, their selection of veggies is unmatched by any other place and the wait staff were pretty nice. I drive down to Olympia just to eat these sandwiches (as well as eat at Old School Pizza).

Just not good! The bread is gross and the meats are not very good either. They put very little filling in the sandwiches so all you have are wads of bread. Salads are totally overpriced.

Tasty sandwiches for a very fair price. The half sandwich is big enough for me, and I like big sandwiches. The meatballs were moist and the bread was toasty! A lot of places get this backwards. And they're great with finicky kids.

I enjoy Meconi's (the downtown location - I can't speak to the others). The subs are tasty; they keep it simple on the variety of ingredients, which are quality. The hot subs are pretty great, especially the Italian sausage; with the recent addition of the Philly Cheesesteak to the menu, I'm completely satisfied with the selection. Nothing to write home about, but good, solid subs. The new downtown location, while lacking the certain charm that came with their previous run-down shop, is spacious, clean, and a nice place to sit and eat (and people watch, especially during the legislative session). The only reason I don't go more often is the price; it's between $4 and $5.50 for a half sandwich and between $7 and $10 for a whole sub. While they're tasty, I can't entirely convince myself that they're worth the cost. If you're in Olympia for more than 3 days, you should definitely try Meconi's; it's an Olympia institution. But it's not the greatest value around.

On the drive from Vancouver, BC to Portland, OR my friends and I wanted to stop somewhere in the middle for a bite to eat. I pulled out my trusty blackberry and researched a good place on the Yelp app. I was in the mood for a sandwich and this place sounded pretty good. I had a ham sub "cosmo" style - in other words, toasted. Great sandwich. I wasn't digging any of the hot sandwich options so I turned a cold one hot. The bread was tasty and toasted just right, good meat, nice mix of ingredients. The place itself doesn't seem like anything to write home about, but it's clean and decent looking. Service was quick and nice enough. This was a nice road trip stop.

I use to go here all the time when I lived in Olympia and whenever I go back to visit, I go here. This place never disappoints. I even got the chance to bring home one of there hoagie rolls straight up back to Portland. Very delicately I walked with this amazing piece of bread around town. Then the sandwich building began and nevertheless delicious! Great sandwich fixin's. The bread is definitely the star in my opinion and don't forget you can get it toasted. I love how they are right across the street from Subway. I like to sit and eat my delicious sandwich and watch the poor suckers going into Subway. Should I help them? Sorry, I'm busy eating a sandwich. You're going to have to figure this one out for yourselves.

Can I say Kick ass??? This place was not what I expected being in a goth-emo town like Lacey, Wa. The location looked like someones house, but the inside smelled like fresh baked bread! It is always a good sign if you can smell the food being cooked. The staff were a bunch of college kids who looked like they were having a good time. I ordered the italian sub. Probably one of the best tasting and fresh ingredient sandwich I have had in a long time. The bread tasted home baked, the meats were freshly cut right in front of me (rather than in a tub like cheap ass subway style), and the produce was so damn amazing. I mean, they chopped the lettuce? Any place where they chop the damn lettuce in front of you is a guarantee that the sandwich is going to be good. Highly recommend if your even in Lacey, Wa.

I love the roast beef! The bread it comes on is incredible, and perfectly complimented with some yummy kettle chips! i try to eat here as often as i can convince the wife to stop on her way home from work! The only reason i don't give it a better rating is they never have a soup I like, and the potato salad is bland but that could just be the day I stopped in.

Meconi's is hands down the best sandwich i've had in oly since i got here about a year back. On the one hand, it's really nothing that's going to blow your mind. You won't find fancy melts and sauces and such, but on the other hand, if you're in the mood for just a good freaking sandwich, hit up this spot. The meat is good quality, the bread is fresh, and the toppings are all great and plentiful. We went in at 2:30 on a Saturday and had about a ten minute wait for two sandwiches. People that complain about that kind of wait need to just go to Subway. But I guarantee that Subway won't taste half as good. A whole sub is easily enough to fill you up. We split a large macaroni salad, too. It was OK--tasted like potato salad, just with macaroni. Parking is a little rough though. I recommend parking on a side street and walking. Without a doubt, this is my new sandwich spot. As their sign boasts, this is truly an east coast sub.

Tasty subs! Eat there almost every time we go to Olympia, the Italian sub is probably the best. Though usually I make my own whole sub to bring home and eat on for a few days or take to work for lunch. Staff is friendly and quick!

I was in Olympia having FUN working on my daughters car - rear drum break replacement :( I had to pick her up for an appointment and this was the closest option, except for Subway, where we could stop on the way for lunch. I had their Hot Meatball sub (on wheat) - that is my standard by which I compare places. This is probably the worst one I have ever had, not horrible mind you, but definitely not up with the best. The meatballs were OK, but the marinara sauce tasted like it came straight out of a food service can. My daughter's combo looked OK, although it appeared to have lots of lettuce, tomato and onion and very little meat. Given the parking, I wouldn't go out of my way to come back.

I have been twice and, though it is an okay sandwich, it is not something I am going to go out of my way to get. The vaunted bread has been overly chewy, the rest merely OK. I hope that this is an anomaly, but for now I just don't get it. I do like that they have Jalapeno chips, but I can't bump stars for that or every bodega would be four stars. For the record, some fine sandwiches (updated as my memory churns): Capriotti's - from Delaware to Las Vegas, they destroy. Worth taking public transportation in Vegas (land of 100 buffets) to have another "bobbie". Salumi - how many places make their own meat? This place in Seattle has crazy good and esoteric meats. Overrated: Philly cheesesteak places, for the most part.

I eat here all the time as it is the closest place to work. The Subway across the street makes me want to eat here more. I get a half veggie every time and am greatly pleased. It can get really busy during the noon hour so I would recommend calling ahead.

This is just a simple place to go order sandwiches. Tell them what you want. You will have to pay extra if you want your cold sub toasted. They do have a "make it a meal" plan to add chips and pop with you sub! This place seems like a popular place since it was packed and the lines were long (but it moved). I must have been in line for like 5 minutes. They do keep the lines moving! They will call your number when your meal is ready. I took mine to go to enjoy weather in the park since I went to Olympia on a gorgeous day!! Street parking is limited in this area!

I've already reviewed the Lacey location ( yelp.com/biz/meconis-ita… ) and the downtown Olympia location is no different. Best dang sandwiches in town. I just want to say thank you to all of the smart Meconi's customers that continue to support this local business. What is wrong with the people that go across the street to those Subway bastards? You will never be Jared. Come over to Meconi's and enjoy your lunch instead.

My favorite place for subs in all of Washington, easily ranks up with anything I've ever had in Seattle. What's so great? Expect some of the best local bread, incredibly soft and perfect for subs, also the quality of veggies and meat is as good as it gets. If you're passing through Olympia, it ranks in my top 5 places to try. I typically order the simple Turkey sandwich with light mayo, but if you love meat, try the 3-meat combo with turkey, salami, and pepperoni (the italian special sub is also solid if you're a traditional meat sand lover)

So amazing, i could eat here everyday! i have at one point in my life. I would recommend the tumwater one they are cleaner and make them better, the downtown location used to have a girl with a pixie cut that made them the best but she has moved on :( They should have paid her 70k a year she was that good. It is so good i bought a tshirt :) Have the pastrami it is the best, I also love the roast beef omg now i want some!!

Great lunch spot. The sandwiches are always what you should expect out of a deli sandwich. The style of food reminds you of a lunch counter/deli on the east coast. Nothing flashy, just good grub to keep you going. Soups and (potato, macaroni) salads are pretty good. Service is always great and to the point. I love the fact that typically the person taking the order is also the one making your sandwich so nothing gets screwed up. Parking is a little tough during the day. I honestly would rate it a 5 star but it's nothing out of this world, just what you should expect.

This unassuming sandwich shop makes the best subs for miles around. Boasting Italian style sandwiches, Meconi's will leave you satisfied. They have a wide range of choices for sandwiches and a "half" sandwich (which is probably 8 inches) is more than enough for one sitting. They also make their own bread which is a thick white loaf. It is is hard to understand why people go across the street to Subway, when you can get a better quality sandwich and cheaper at Meconi's. During the peak lunch hours, the line can get long but they are quick. Everytime I'm in town I always make sure to stop by and get a sandwich.

Ate here for the first time today. Food: Incredible sandwich. I got the Italian. A "whole" sized sub was almost $10! Ouch. But, it was huge. It's really two sandwiches. Service: The only reason Meconi's doesn't get five stars from me. The line was almost out the door. I noticed that there were two registers but only one being used. I called ahead for pickup but had to wait 5-10 minutes in line with everyone else. While I was waiting in line I noticed one of the staff going on break--during the lunch rush? It was worth the wait but it seemed a little under staffed. Atmosphere: A bare-bones deli. Like all great delis, it was really cramped. Rock music blaring over the speakers made the whole place really loud.

I worked here for a couple years when I was in college. I got a half sub every day I worked and I never got tired of them. The hot Italian with pepperoncinis and no mayo is the best. I also love a hot chicken sub with Dijon and swiss and the hot vegetarian with pepperoncinis and jalapenos. Friday was usually clam chowder day and that was always good. Also try the potato and pasta salads. I moved to Philly, where the Meconis are from originally, a couple years after working here and have to say their subs are the real thing. They never could get the same amorosa roll taste, but that would be the only difference. Just wonder why, being from Philly, they didn't call them "hoagies". I worked there before the Subway went in. Can't believe anyone would choose to eat there with Meconi's across the street! I still can't eat at Subway. I've been spoiled for life. Good thing there are some Philly-style sandwich places where I live now.

i love meconi's philly cheese steaks. the meconi's in olympia is way better than the one in lacey, the people are friendlier and the wait is way less. i really like that they relocated, the old location was a little grungy.

Don't even bother getting a sub sandwich if it's not Meconi's!! Meconi's has become somewhat of a sandwich empire in Olympia with its expanded locations and it's really no surprise why. Once you have a Meconi's sandwich, all other sandwiches don't even compare. What sets Meconi's apart from other sub shops is their homemade white bread. It's indescribable how delicious it is and just how much it makes their sandwiches. They also pile the freshly sliced meats on high and top each sandwich variety with thinly sliced white onions, oil and vinegar and Italian oregano. A few favorite varieties are the Italian or the Combo. It's truly one amazing sandwich experience.

This place is near and dear to my heart - both locally owned AND some of the best damn sammiches I've EVER had. No frills, no gimmicks, just great ingredients paired with fast and friendly service. I get the 1/2-combo (shaved ham, turkey, and chicken) with peppers, olives and jalapenos - EVERY TIME. You honestly cannot go wrong with this one. The bread is the best bread any sub shop could hope to offer. It's soft and chewy and so full of flavor you will wonder why you've ever eaten any other sub. The shaved meat is flavorful and juicy and piled high, and the veggies are crispy and fresh every time as well. *Drooling* Ok, composing myself here - I haven't tried anything else here, mostly because the combo is my idea of perfection. The staff is attentive, quick and friendly. The place is ALWAYS packed for lunch (lots of times with lines to the door!), and the Olympia location has terrible parking options - but, like Seattle - I wasn't surprised by this...just something to be aware of. Prices are more than you'd pay at like, say, Subway - but, I adore supporting local businesses and really the quality cannot compare in the slightest. **If you're reading this, Meconi's - PLEASE expand North!!!**

I really don't understand the hype on this place. I've been a few times for the variety. It's an average sandwich. "Oh, the bread is the best" comments are fun. IMHO the bread is only a transport for the ingredients, which are pretty bland. Subway makes a better sandwich, plus you get more control over what gets put on. It hey only have three parking spaces, so if you want to get a sandwich during noon.....well good luck! Gets lots of walk ins from the nearby state government offices. My son loves the place....but he's only 17 and doesn't know better.

Just came out of Meconi's on Capital 20 minutes ago. Quality of food doesn't match up to the reviews. Well, I guess in a way it does. I was born in the SF Bay Area and live in Seattle now. I'm used to eating world class sandwiches like the Cuban at Paseos. So when I read reviews that say this is the best sandwich they've ever eaten, the Cuban is what I'm thinking. I think a lot of these reviewers have never been outside Lacey. The sad thing is, I don't even think the sandwich I just ate was any better than the Subway across the street. I had the Italian large size. It was humongous! If it weren't for the fact that I didn't eat breakfast or lunch I wouldn't have had the room to eat it all. The bread is big, soft, and pillowy. Very puffy, and in comparison with other big doughy breads (like San Francisco sourdough) there really wasn't a whole lot of taste. I think if the bread were toasted it would have been a lot better. Nothing about the ingredients stood out. There was lettuce and tomato that were just there. They didn't sizzle or pop like they do at Roxie's deli in SF. The meat didn't delight. I don't remember what it came with. Was it mortadella, salami, and ham? Whatever it was, it was savory and tasty, but nothing special at all. Hate to say it, but the only reason to visit this place is to support the local guy. Subways breads and sandwiches are right on par with Meconi's. That is, neither one of them is special. Both are very much meh in terms of world class sandwiches. There is a Wagner's European bakery across the street. I would rather try one of their sandwiches before I try another Meconi. Their lemon bars are very good.

I heart Meconi's. I'm really into Tuna and adore their Cosmo Tuna, it's just their tuna heated up. But, that really does make a difference. Melts the cheese. This is the best sub place out of the ones to choose from being Subway or Jimmy John's. It's not a sandwich shop like Wally's. If tuna's not your thing their Meatball sub is ridiculously meaty & cheesy goodness. Also, their 3 meat sandwich, which is your choice (I recommend Turkey, Pepperoni, & Capicola). Their chili is good. Their Clam Chowder is even better!

It looks like a hole in the wall and it kind of is but the sandwiches are incredible. The bread is unlike any other. They have both wheat and white but you have to ask for the wheat. There is usually a line during lunch but it moves fast. If you are in a hurry call your order in a head of time and you can skip the line.

My fave is the Hot Italian sub. It's probably why I gained so much weight while I worked at the Capitol! Haha! Gets busy during lunch. Parking is a little scarce around that time. My advice is to call ahead so that you can walk past everybody else waiting in line, and then say "Haha! Too bad you didn't call ahead!"

This place has limited metered parking outside. I did notice that the first 16 minutes is free. When I walked in, it was very noticeable that the a/c wasn't on or was turned very low. Would not be comfortable sitting in and eating. The Italian Sub we good. Pllenty of meat in proportion to the amount of bread. The bread was fresh. Would give this place four stars but didn't like that it was warm inside the restaurant.

The best sandwiches in Olympia. I don't go anywhere else for a sandwich. It can be a hassle finding a parking spot at times, especially during the day but well worth it. Usually better to get it to go if possible since seating can get crowded. Plenty of meat in their sandwiches. They also have soup. They serve Coke and their meal deal is great (chips and drink) Usually they have great service. You should go away full after eating a sandwich.
