Great location, excellent pizza. We have had the esta feta pizza with their pesto sauce, feta, artichoke hearts, delish! We have also tried the clam pizza...I know, clam pizza?? I was very uncertain about ordering it, but wow, it was amazing and would definitely get it again. My husband loves, loves, loves the steak sandwhich and raves about it. You have the best water view in Langley when eating here, inside or outside. A great, large bar with nice beer selection and TV to watch sports. There is no gluten free option for pizza, so gluten free peeps, you are stuck with a salad.

Loved village pizzeria! Ate here while visiting from NYC, and their pizza can compete. The view is fantastic and the staff was very friendly. Had half Hawaiian and pepperoni and also a slice of the garlic clam. Do not skip the garlic clam, it's amazing! Eat while hot though, it loses something when cooled. Was a great dinner and great leftover lunch!

Cesar salad was amazing! Enjoyed the meatball sub, pretty view and excellent service!

Pizza is good. But this is a place for the view. Come on sit and enjoy one of the best views in the puget sound.

  • Katie K.

Yum!! My favorite pizza ever. A real treat when your craving a piping hot pie. And the location, so beautiful and peaceful with views overlooking the sound. I love this restaurant and order from it frequently whether it be dining in, picking up to go, or sitting at the bar for a quick beer and a slice. The peperoni pesto is our go to, but I have never had a bad experience. You must try!!

We visited on a Thursday afternoon- the weather was beautiful so we asked to sit outside. The restaurant was not overly busy (other tables were open) and no one else was waiting. We were seated promptly. And that is where the promptness ended. While I'm generally ok with slow service if there is good reason OR if the server/restaurant is apologetic, we did not have that type of experience here. We were seated and forgotten for 15 minutes. No server came by. No one brought us water. Once we decided to go in and let them know we were ready to order - they said they'd be right out. We waited another 15 minutes. When the waiter arrived, there was no apology. No "thank you so much for your patience." Nothing except a general absence of care for his current station in life. We asked how long a pizza would take (since we didn't want to wait forever) and the waiter gave a careless "at least 25 minutes" answer. We asked what might take less time and he said he didn't know - it all depended on what other people order. Ok, thanks for being helpful. He did say "drinks come quicker." Ha. So despite our better judgement (think of us as investigators hunting for every last dirty secret, with no concern for the consequences!) we decided to place our order, including drinks. Two beers, one cocktail, and one glass of wine. We also asked for waters since no one had bothered to provide that. We then waited another ten minutes for our drinks. (We were ready for it. Investigators even give up at this point...) When our food arrived we asked for two forks - we were a party of four and the table was only set with two place settings. The bus boy brought us one fork. We asked for another. He then brought us four forks. At the end of the experience, we got all our food and drinks, but after way too much time. And we each had two forks to eat with.

Seems like we have the best luck when we pick a pizza joint for food on a vacation - but this place............WOW! Pizza is fantastic....crust is perfect and the toppings, including the homemade sausage was enough to make us talk about it for weeks. There were classics to order or you could add your own toppings - including the island favorite clams! Service was perfect, from the owner's wife no less. And even a hand shake from the owner who was greeting people that evening....maybe we got lucky with the service that night!! You had a choice to sit inside or out - the place was packed when we arrived and you could tell the locals loved this place too. Drinks were poured generously as well. Don't miss this place if you are in town, you wont be disappointed - great for families or a romantic couple.

Excellent spinach salad with their own dressing. Salad can be customized to meet customer's needs/preferences (e.g., adding heated up roasted red peppers, extra feta and kalamatas). Fast and friendly service. Can call in an order and pick it up to go, which makes eating a nice quality meal on a half hour break doable if called in ahead. Super friendly staff. Gorgeous waterfront view. Clean and pleasant environment. Generous portions.

Wonderful spot that serves wonderful food with a wonderful staff. Grant the bar tender has an inviting disposition and a great sense of humor. All of he pizzas are amazing. But their menu branches out further than just pies. The Greek pasta with olive oil base is a must try while the European grilled chicken sandwich is good for any time of the day.

  • Alicia D.

We were looking forward to eating here unfortunately you need to know someone who works here in order to be seated. They wanted to seat our party of 6 at 3 tables of 2. Heard the pizza is good but wouldn't know we left.

Best pizza on Whidbey, bar none. Other Italian offerings are also delicious- pasta, sandwiches, salads, etc. The house salad dressing is amazing and they sell it by the bottle, too. Definitely worth your while for a casual dinner in Langley. (Our own build-your-own "special pizza" is sausage, red pepper, eggplant, and mushroom... Try it! YUM!)

  • Luccy P.

Unfortunately we didn't have a good experience here. It took them forty minutes to bring our pizza and when they did it was someone else's order. We waited another 15 minutes for our order to come but they had forgotten to add mushrooms and tomatoes like we had asked. The pizza was good but the service wasn't. I would recommend going when you aren't really really hungry you so can sit and enjoy the view and a glass of wine while waiting for your pizza, otherwise it will be a long 40 minutes as you assess whether it may be worth eating your arm instead

  • Ray V.

It is definitely good pizza, and you can't beat the view. I was a bit disappointed though. The crust had as much flavor as soda cracker. The sauce was pretty good, and there was an abundance of cheese. We split halves and the sausage and jalepeno half was really good. I had gotten the clam and garlic for the other half and though good, it wasn't great. I was expecting not the tomato sauce on this half, and it detracted from the flavor of the clams. Maybe we were just here on a bad day I don't know. We will definitely try here again on one of our future trips to the island.

Its been a long time since a pizza place made me look at Waze and say "It's only a 45 minute drive if we time the ferry just right". It's been equally as long since I've seen anchovies on the menu, agreed to have them added, and decide that I couldn't have the pie any other way (Village Special). Any way you look at it, I can't wait to get back and try other dishes. Next up was whatever that meatball dish I saw, because it looked and smelled fantastic. Now, I did see that they serve by the slice as well, and the nice guy at the bar next to us who ordered two different slices raved about both, but it did look like they are "on demand" in that the crust was cooked first, then toppings added at order time. Not that that makes it bad, but the "real pies" we had and saw coming out looked much more appetizing. Great feel to the place - I have no idea what it may have been before it was a pizza place, but you can't beat the view, and the bar is a great place as well. Great service all around was just frosting on the cake.

Update! Village Pizzeria has had a beautiful remodel and now takes advantage of the amazing view. You can see Grey Whales right from your table! A gas fireplace cozy up the place and creates a really nice ambiance. Same great pizza. They even accept credit cards now. Love this place.

Went over to Whidbey Island after taking the Boeing Factory Tour. It was a little past "normal" lunch hours and we were having trouble finding a place to eat - lots of the restaurants close during the afternoon and then reopen for dinner. Saw the Village Pizzeria and thought well, this will have to be it. Lucky for us, because the food and service was great. Our server Stephani was really nice. Hubby had the Italian Deli sandwich - great bread, lots of fresh ingredients. I had the Grilled Chicken sandwich - sounds sort of mundane, right? Not so, this was a HUGE sandwich - could easily feed two hungry people. It was served on rosemary focaccia, with aioli mayo and roasted peppers - super delicious. If the weather is nice, eat outside - the view is amazing. Definitely worth a stop as you explore the island.

We have been coming here for many moons. They have a newly remodeled section which has been open for a couple of years now. The drinks are great. Service has always been on par. We usually have to large caprese salad, the bread plate and a single piece of pizza. Usually more than enough food for us. The views cannot be beat and the prices are fair. They place good rock and roll music but not to loud. They're playing "It's only rock and roll" by the stones. Time to get back to our drinks!! Cheers!!

Best pizza! Outstanding service! Great location....not enough positive adjectives to cover my experience.

  • John C.

Terrible, rude service and burnt pizza. We waited 45 minutes to be seated and then was told it would be another 40-50 minutes to get the pizza. Decided to take our pizza home instead and after another 45 minute wait ended up with crunchy burnt pizza. The owners or staff could care less about customer satisfaction. In fact they even complained when we asked for peppers to take home. All this and we spent 55 dollars for two pizzas. There are better places to eat on Whidbey Island. I'd skip this one.

  • Elaine L.

This is some mighty fine pizza. I stopped in for a slice of pepperoni (the One True Topping) to go and it was still warm, chewy, gooey and crispy when I got home. I didn't taste their deep dish but if you like a good solid thin crust pizza this is a great choice.

    (4)
  • David D.

For a pizza place this is as perfect as I can imagine. Cliff side seating both inside and outside with spectacular views! During the summer and on the weekends you'll be hard pressed to find an open table so get there early or be prepared to wait. It's worth it! If you are not super hungry try a slice and ask them to add on the toppings!

  • Janelle S.

I came in here with my family this afternoon while exploring the town. We ordered salad to share and a slice of pizza each. The food was ok - the salad was tasty and fresh. The pizza was hot. The servers were nice enough, but they were never around when you needed them. We sat at a table for a long time before we even got menus. On the bright side, there was an amazing view to look at while sitting there waiting.

  • Alex W.

This is solely for their take-out/to-go pizza. I haven't sat down here since the re-model. This place has been here for decades. When I first tried it, yes it was definitely the best pizza on the south end of the island. Unfortunately that's not saying much, there wasn't really any take-out competition (let alone someplace that delivers). The pizza used to be pretty good, however my last several pies over the last year or so have been disappointing. To be fair, they do state on their menu that they half bake to-go pizzas. I'm not sure why they do this, but I've found that a few minutes under the broiler at home gets the caramelized spots on the cheese that we all desire. Over the years, the amount of toppings on their pies has decreased, even when you ask for double (and pay for it), they're skimpy. Basically, I'm starting to just make my own at home.

This place has a full service bar, efficient staff and really good pizza! Anyone visiting Langley and has a craving for pizza and a beer needs to come here. Would definitely come back!

  • Chris L.

We have been here a few times in our past visits to Langley and have, in the past had ok service and great pizza. Well, today was a different story. We went in for a couple of slices for a late lunch. There were very few people in the restaurant so we thought we could get in and out in a hurry. We had to wait and wait and wait to get waited on. Maybe that's why they call them waiters. Then the staff acted like they were doing us a favor by finally helping use. We got our pizza back to our room and opened the box to find less than pleasing looking pizza. Mine was pepperoni and it was VERY greasy and the cheese was more than a little tough. My wife had mushroom and garlic. It looked and tasted like they poured raw chopped garlic out of a jar on top of the pizza and tossed it in the box. I hope this was just a bad day but I won't be coming back anytime soon

A 5-star experience -- minus the wait for a table for 4; however, once we were seated, I enjoyed the best pizza, wine and view pairing of my life thus far! It can't be emphasized enough how the dramatic sun-set view improves the taste of both wine and pizza! The 'thin crust' pizza was delicious, and the red wine selection modestly priced and excellent (Townshend Bordeaux-style blend goes great with the pesto-chicken). The only caveat is somewhat slow service (upside is that you're not rushed) and lack of reservations -- although having a glass of wine at the bar (or heading next door for one) solves the problem. That said, not recommended for very large parties or those hungry and/or in a rush (unless you're coming off-season, non-weekend). Nonetheless, I definitely look forward to returning, and given expectations for a moderate wait, the pizza and view will make it all so worth it!

Not much in the small town of Langley, WA, but we arrived with a big appetite to this small pizzeria overlooking the beautiful ocean. I would rate Village Pizzeria 5 out 5, but the only down side was not being greeted upon entering the door. I don't know if it's because I'm of an Asian ethnicity that the host assumed I was joining my friends that had walked in 10 minutes ago, but we weren't greeted at all and had to find them ourselves. Other than that, the food was spectacular. We ordered a 16" Neapolitan pizza. Half "Village Special" and the other half "ham & pineapple". I also ordered a delicious chicken breast sandwich with melted provolone and pesto sauce. Excellent customer service.

We experienced some of the worst service imaginable. Waited forever with undrinkable diet Pepsi and a fussy baby. Had to get up to get our own water. The waitress finally appeared after half an hour to tell us that our order had been "pushed back" because of a party of 12....even though we'd arrived long before them! We ran out of time and patience and left without getting our meal. .

Pizza is ok. Sandwiches are great. Antipasto is Very good. Soft drink sizes are smallish. Service usually prompt , friendly, and accurate. Worth a visit, or two, or several. View is Wonderful. Nice place. Some older guy up front seems gruff , but that's his problem. Everyone else is quite pleasant

I want to UPDATE my review and make everyone aware that the owner of Village Pizzeria was kind enough to contact my family and offer us a gift certificate and inform us that this employee was terminated from the restaurant. WE TRULY appreciate them rectifying this situation, as we absolutely LOVE this restaurant and their food. As my previous angry review stated, the food here is top-notch, so great but it was the service that was bad...it would have been such a tremendously difficult thing to come to Langley and not feel comfortable eating here again. I want to give them to understand my gratitude and appreciation for them acknowledging us as loyal customers and fixing this situation. Not only that, but even if they had given us a certificate I cant say Id want to have came back and risk the chance of having this particular person waiting on us. Thank you VP, and we WILL be back! (My recommendations are the Steak Sandwich and Greek Pasta-TO DIE FOR!)

Great view and fun place. We had the pesto pizza. Good flavor but nothing close to great pizza. The crust was too thick, nothand stretched.

Decent pizza. Location and decor is really nice. Horrible service. Waited 45 min for the check after asking for it twice. Finally we got up to pay up front just to wait another 10 minutes for the bill, no one even bothered to give us any eye contact. The employees need to work on their people skills. On top of that. Price is too expensive for the quality of service and food.

Don't know if they are on island time but service is super slow and pizza not fantastic for waiting upwards of 40 mins. Very disappointed. Also went when totally empty and they sat us without a view. Why!?! They have beautiful views. Told our waitress and no attempt to make situation right. Wouldn't recommend.

We're from Seattle where there's good food and we made a mistake of coming here. The service was horrible, had to wait forever to for the waiter to take our order. In fact, we were wondering if they had forgotten about us. Finally, we asked someone else to take our order and she had to go get the waiter. Pizza was ok, not good, not bad. We had been there so long, it wasted so much of our day in Whidbey so we asked for the check asap even before we finished our meal. The waiter brings us the wrong bill so he had to go get the right one. That meal really put us in a bad mood and it ruined our outing and the rest of the day in Whidbey, will not return to that island.

We were told from another restaurant (imagine that) that this was the BEST place to come for pizza on the island, and I'd have to totally agree! They're pizza is so good, they make their sausage/meatballs in house and it's delicious! Very cute and cozy restaurant on the water with a view to die for, friendly staff and good food. I'm not sure off island, but on island the dude at the other place was right, this the best pizza on Whidbey!

Excellent pizza.....but terrible RUDE service. I don't even know where to begin....my husband and I and a friend were on a day trip on a beautiful sunny Saturday and decided their outdoor seating and pizza by the slice would be the perfect lunch. My friend and I went inside to order, and even though they have a big neon sign saying " pizza by the slice" they don't have any ready, and they just hand a big menu to you as you stand in line by the door......then they tell us that outdoor seating is for " to go " orders only....ok, not sure what that means, but fine....we decided on a large caprese salad to share and 3 slices. Well apparently at an outside table you can't order salads ?? But you can order beer in a glass....?? This poor guy at a table next to us had a toddler running around, and had to keep putting his glass down on the floor to chase his kid who would go out of their "eating area"..!? TOO MANY RULES THAT DONT MAKE SENSE !! I went inside to use the bathroom and saw the owner (? ) carrying beers in two hands so I held the door for him; he didn't even mumble a thank you! Then I caught him again on the way back out and he let the door slam behind himself when I was RIGHT behind him! I later asked if they had any water available ,and one of the guys disappeared into the dining area ( actually looked quite nice, overlooking the water and quite spacious) . After a long wait I went to see what was taking him so long, and he handed me two paper Pepsi cups of water. Well there are three of us so I asked for another one, and out of guilt ( for asking for water??) I put a $5 tip on the counter. Wish I hadn't wasted my money, oh well.... While the pizza was very good, I would probably not return because it was an overall unpleasant experience .

My husband and I have visited Village Pizzeria twice now. The first time, we called in a pizza for pick-up 10 minutes before they were supposed to be closing. The woman who answered assured us they were happy to take our order even though we might get there after hours. When we arrived a couple minutes before they closed, they offered for us to sit at the bar while we waited.. the bartender was cleaning up, but happily served us drinks. We enjoyed a breathtaking sunset view of the waterfront, from our seats. The sit down environment is very warm and homey, like a good friend's living room. We didn't eat our sausage, pepperoni, onion, and cheese pizza til we arrived at the ferry landing, but oh my lands when we'd both had a bite, we just looked at each-other with big WOW eyes. The crust was not too thick, perfectly crisp and chewy. The toppings were perfectly balanced and everything was so damn good! The second time we went, we paid for a ferry trip just to get one of their hot off the hearth, PERFECTED pizzas. Well worth the trip, great service and one of the best slices of pizza in the greater seattle area!

Good food. Bad service. I ordered a pizza slice and pesto pasta. The waiter - a young man hounded us to get the menu back although we didn't finish ordering. And when I was in the middle of lunch I was asked if I wanted my bill. I was looking to have a relaxed lunch with my wife. That didn't happen.

Pretty tasty pizza, semi-decent service. We came in at an odd-time between lunch and dinner, and unfortunately you could tell that the staff was a little overwhelmed with the rush of people that had come at the same time. It took us awhile to get seated, but we did after awhile. I ordered two slices for myself and wife ordered one slice and a salad. The wait to take our order took a little longer than we wanted but nothing extreme. The slices came out in about 20-25 minutes. The slices were a good size. I probably could have gone ordering just one, but I was extra hungry at the time. The pesto pizza was great, but the pepperoni was slightly better. Lots of pepperoni, thin crust, good tasting sauce. All in all, we'd probably come back. Good pizza, I can bet that if we came at a more "normal" time, the service would have been slightly better.

We were there and it was relatively busy. The service was just "OK". It took us forever to get our food and we kept getting the wrong order coming to our table. That staff seemed scattered and like they didn't know what they were doing. Our server was friendly however we finally had To go to the bar to get our own drinks. The food when we finally did get it was amazing. GREAT food and pizza!! We would def eat there again.

Best pizza ever!!!!!!! Seriously. Everything else is crap in comparison. Get a slice of pesto and eat it on the benches by the boy and the dog statue. Your day will suddenly be perfection.

We went up to Whidbey recently, and were told good things about the place. When we arrived, the guy behind the counter was loudly scolding a young employee for "not helping us soon enough" while she finished up an order on the phone. Truthfully, we had just walked in, and I wasn't going to have someone berate a 17-year-old girl on MY behalf. I informed this man - I think the manager - that we did not appreciate the way he was treating his staff. We were fine, and his angry/negative behavior was far worse than having to wait a few seconds. Admittedly, I wasn't exactly diplomatic, but I didn't expect what happened next. At this point, the guy - a large guy with huge arms, probably ex-military - steps closer to me and the lady I was with and asks menacingly, "really? really?" "Really," I responded, half expecting him to take a swing at me. He turned angrily behind the counter, tore up our order, and told us our order was cancelled. As we left without another word, we heard him taking his anger out on the staff behind the counter. I couldn't tell you about the food - I can just tell you that the manager (if he's managed to keep the position) needs a lesson in anger management. Not only did he aggressively approach a customer, but he filled the whole place with a negative mood.

I've been here twice now and have encountered long delays in Service both times. The first time I sat at a Table with friends it took half an hour to pay the bill to leave including much pestering to get it. The second time I called in a pizza to pick up so we could avoid the wait. They said it would take 20 Minutes so I got there 50 minutes after calling in, I was still waiting another 10 minutes before they finally waive it to me.Otherwise The pizza is pretty good, and the view of the sound is spectacular.

Quick summary: great pizza, awesome Caesar and variable service. If you are fortunate enough to be working with the one of the owners or their extended family the service is great. When the owners are not handling the front of the house and it is busy, service can get spotty. If you are in a hurry, move on and try again another time. If you are feeling patient, it is worth the wait!

Pretty delicious. I always eat here when I'm on Whidbey. Pretty quick to go orders, which is what I always do. You can get 1/2 & 1/2 pies too. The Greek, village spicial & Cesar salad is my standard order. Bring cash, it's all they take.

Wen't here after hearing they had great pizza, but I wasn't too impressed...the "thick crust" pizza was waaaay too thick (1.5" thick crust, at least..). more bread on my pizza then toppings which made it kind of dry. Also not very much cheese...Our neighbors got a thin crust and it appeared to look a bit more cheesy. And it was a bit pricey. The best part of the restaurant is the waterfront view. I may return here, but I will definitely order the thin crust pizza...

My boyfriend and I went there for our 6 month anniversary today. I had spaghetti with meatballs, which was pretty yummy. The plate of bread with dipping oil, I couldn't stop eating. My boyfriend got the Mediterranean Chicken Sandwich. It is huge and awesome. I talked the boyfriend into letting me have the other half of his sandwich and he can finish my spaghetti. He loves me enough to comply. :-) We will defiantly be back. Thank you.

Good greasy NYC, thin crust pizza! Huge slices and the crust is just a platform for the toppings - the crust is tasteless, just like its supposed to be. That does not mean it's bland, it means the crust serves it's purpose and doesn't try to steal the show. The dressings for the ceasar salads are really good, too. This place runs on island time so don't be in such hurry. Relax, enjoy the incredible view and look for an orca dorsal fin or two. Whiners.

This is my second day eating at this pizzeria, but I am not saying this is an amazing place with great food. I am saying it was easy to walk to. Pizza by the slice and trying to save money on a work trip. I had pepperoni pizza and I can feel the heartburn coming with the first bite.

    (2)
  • Matt M.

Probably the best pizza on the island and most unique options to choose from. Everything was awesome here: view, food and that pizzeria feel. The reason for the missing fifth star is there's a bit of lolly gagging with the waiting core, my and other tables hand a lot of empty drinks waiting to be refilled. It wasn't till our frustration of empty glasses was evident that the waitress stopped gossiping and got back to work. They were friendly gals, but hard to over look the lack of service when you super thirsty. All in all I'll be back, I'll just ask for a pitcher next time.

The good: (1) our waiter Charlie was fantastic. We were a group of 10 with four pretty picky kids and he was quick and friendly and accurate with all our particular and frequent requests. (2) the pizza, while not outstanding, was good. Fold the cheese in half, close your eyes, and you might be on the upper west side eating at Koronet. Better than Pagliacci, not as good as Ciao Pizza in Springfield or Stellar in Georgetown. (3) the new section with its view is great. We sat in the old section which was great given the size of our group. The outside seating looks nice too. The not so good: (1) the chicken on my salad was not great and the salad dressing while much touted on yelp was uninspired (though others in my group thought it was good). (2) the pizza could use twice as much sauce so we'll ask for that next time. Overall a good experience!

We visit Langley several times a year. Our first stop is here! Pesto pizza Meatball, meat lovers Every thing is exceptional. The view is amazing and the ride over is very nice. We take our boat in the summer and ride the ferry in the winter. If you didn't already know the weather on Whidbey is better then Seattle-Everett!

Came here for my B-Day dinner...mainly because it was the only place that could accomodate about 15 of us! But pizza always sounds good, so we stopped in, grateful they could find seating for us. We ordered the pesto pizza and added some canadian bacon. DeLish. The servers were really nice and quick, which was great since there were so many of us. We usually head up to Whidbey at least once a year, I would definitely come back here :)

OMG. BEST PIZZA OF MY LIFE! IT WAS SOOO GOOD! Pesto is my favorite thing in the universe, and they had the BEST pesto pizza! I would give this place 10 stars if I could. My boyfriend and I were celebrating our 5 month anniversary, and this place topped off our night. We were seated outside, and had the BEST view of the water. The weather was perfect, and our waiter was really nice and attentive! I like pizza as much as the next person, but I ordered a caesar salad (mistake, it wasn't as good as I hoped) My boyfriend ordered 2 slices of pizza (one cheese, one pesto), i couldnt help but eat his pizza! It was just so damn good. BIG slices, great.... no AMAZING cheese, perfectly cooked- and FRESH. Our waiter informed us that the owner is from NY, and its their own pesto recipe. I wish we had pizza like this closer to home! We will be coming back to Langley JUST for this place...and we will order an extra pizza to go to have at home! If this isnt the best pizza youve had, where can you find better?

Loved the pesto pizza! Hubby had pepperoni and said it was good too. Nice crispy thin crust. Service was a bit slow / we were forgotten for almost 15 minutes waiting to put in our order. Servers were cheery though and once our food came out they checked on us several times. Will definitely go back next time in Langley. Definitely bring CASH! They have an ATM, but save yourself the fees and plan ahead. Didn't see the cash only sign until we were already seated and ready to order, but fortunately had enough.

Unless you are a local without kids, don't bother coming here. Half the restaurant is dedicated to only 21 and above and there are only a couple of tables that can handle more than 2 people outside the bar area. We were also in the restaurant before a number of locals that walked in and took seats while we waited on a table over an hour. We finally gave up after an hour and a half and ordered pizza to go (which took another 40 minutes)! Not a family friendly restaurant!

This place has a gorgeous atmosphere. Set on the water and in the evening it turns ito more of an adult atmosphere. They have a decent bar with great coctails. I had three Saratoga's named after the water mass near the pizzaria. So delicious and best of all you can order brick oven pizza by the slice! They have a family casual seating area, patio seating, and the bar area with huge windows and dining tables looking at the water. Fav place to go spend a day at and walk around. Best Pizza on the island!

Good pizza in a great setting. We stop here to get a slice before a show at WICA or at The Clyde. Tasty pizza - probably the pesto is our favorite. Good beers, great views, we like to order and eat outside - a little quicker and great view of the water and the town.

Pizza is not good enough for the HORRIBLE and RUDE service. We ordered a pie to go and waited outside for 45 minutes since they were full up. Came back in and tables were open, asked to sit down inside instead. "To go orders have TO GO." Roger that. Won't go back ...

We visit this place almost every time we're on the island (1-2 times per year, for the last 5 or so years now). Why? Because it's the only pizza that doesn't require a ferry ride. That's about the only reason. It's okay, it does the job - and when you're craving pizza, that's about all you need it to do, really. However, cash only? Really? Come on, now. This is a frustrating limitation, enough to drop from what may have eeked up to a 3-star experience, down to 2.

If you craving pizza on the island, go to Village Pizzeria in Langley. Yum. We would picked up a pizza and salad to go, and with a bottle of red wine, it was the perfect meal for on the beach. We like the Margherita Pizza Tomatoes, Garlic, Basil on a thin Crust. Light and a favorite among the women. I notice this disappears the quickest. Another favorite is the Chicken Pesto Pizza. chicken, pesto, mozzarella on a homemade hand tossed pizza crust. More on the heavy side but satisfying with red wine. If you need a way to feed an army of friends on the island. Village Pizzeria is the way to go. Grab a pie and do the wine tour. Cheap eats and cheap tasting fees = a wonderful day.

We had a great time here, sharing the Pesto pizza on thin crust! It was delicious and made a great midnight snack later in the day. We came at the dinner rush and sat at the bar so we didn't have to wait for a table. Wish we could have had a window seat, but the hot, tattooed bar tender, who was super chill and friendly, made up for that in my opinion. Even though we were out of towners, we were treated like we were regulars. Great customer service and an excellent pie.

I don't know why this place has so many bad reviews. I was skeptical about going because of the reviews but we decided to give it a shot since there aren't many places to eat in town. My husband and I arrived around 5:15 on a Saturday night and were lucky enough to snag a table outside on the patio. The view was absolutely gorgeous and we were waited on promptly upon being seated. We each ordered starter salads and the ingredients were so fresh and delicious. We split the half size vegetarian pizza and it came within a reasonable time and oh my gosh was it good! The crust was thick and crispy and one of the best pizzas I've had in a long time. The sauce, cheese, veggies, everything was good. Service was excellent - although they were very busy our drinks were always refilled and our waiters were really friendly and nice. If we come back to the island we will definitely be visiting this place again - highly recommend!

Don't waste your time... There are so many better places to go in Langley - Prima Bistro, Mo's, Useless Bay Coffee - take your pick. They are all better then subjecting yourself to the snooty and disdainful folks that have been hired to "serve" their customers at Village Pizzeria. It amazes me that these folks are still in business! Looking through the reviews, it appears I am not alone in my opinion. I tried to convince myself they were OK and that the pizza was worth it - perhaps 20 - 25 visits over the years - but I finally said "enough was enough" after I had the audacity to ask if my pizza was missing an ingredient. The "server" told me that nothing had changed and implied I was lucky to get any food at all. ...sigh... Yes, the pizza WAS missing a certain ingredient, but I gave up, left the pizza and walked out never to return. I am hopeful that a new owner may step up someday, buy the place and turn things around. Until then, there are so many better choices within a short walking distance.

Two stars was generous for this locally owned pizza and Italian restaurant. We have frequented this place for the past 3 years and generally been pleased. Unfortunately we took guests on for lunch and the food and service where terrible. Everything from soggy salad to cold pasta and sandwiches was the order of the day. This was compounded by forgetful service. It will be a long time before we return.

I'm giving a 1 because I can't do zero. I grew up with this place and it has gone so downhill in the passed few years. Stopped by for a pizza lunch during a visit and waited over an hour before deciding to get our meal to go. We were told it'll be another 10 minutes, and my children were not interested in waiting. Neither were my husband and I at that point! She made us pay for our beer and did not try AT ALL to recover the service. Sorry Paul and Mickey, but the remodel isn't enough to get me back in the door anytime soon. You may need luck to keep things going at this rate. Also...cash only can be completely inconvenient, especially when it's not apparent until the server denies a debit card.

Perfect crust, just the right level of crunch and ever so slightly dough-y goodness. And our cheese slice (nice option) with 'shrooms was not greasy. Yay! The sauce, though, is too much of a tease. More please. Don't buy that it was because ours was a slice serving 'cause the whole pizza our countermates got was equally skimpy on sauce. Caesar... generous half serving though bit of a booby trap for those of us who are cutlery challenged. Bigger plate maybe? The dressing is halfway between Italian & Caesar, and coulda used more garlic, anchovy paste and lemon for us Caesar purists who like a little more in-your-face flavor. Tiny and tasty but soggy, croutons fell victim to croutons first, dressing after. Reverse the order and you'll deliver properly crunchy croutons. Service... when you see posters captioned "What the hell are you looking at?" it's reasonable to assume more 'tude than excellence in that department, and pizza places are notorious for 'tude -- some may just have earned it more than others and VV hasn't quite delivered the goods to cop the 'tude. It's decent pizza, but it's not OMG the BEST!" in my book. Mostly, it struck me the staff just didn't quite get how to manage flow. We kept getting offered a table when we were perfectly happy with the counter, whilst more and more folks piled into the doorway who wanted a table. Worth a revisit? Sure.

Great pizza and love the house salad dressing! Be sure to buy a bottle if you like garlic. Only downfall, they don't deliver but if you order to go it does stay nice and hot.

I am writing this for my partner, as he is not a Yelper, but he ate their pizza twice. He bought a slice to go after we ate dinner at another place and had to go back for more later that evening. He says this is as close to East Coast style pizza that he has had on the West Coast. I had a bite, and I agree that the crust was delicious--very crisp and flavorful. If you are from the East Coast, you will love this pizza! They have a nice outside dining area overlooking the Puget Sound.

This place was pretty good. We took the ferry over for the day to hang out in Langley. We sat out on the grass area outside overlooking the water. I had a meatball sandwich, and my husband had the ravioli's. The pizza looked fantastic, but we don't share the same interest in pizza flavors. The meatball sub was very tasty, and huge. I probably should have only eaten half of it, but It was so good, I picked the meat out of the second half. The downside is the place is pretty small and doesn't accept credit cards. If we go back to Whidbey Island- we will definitely be back.

If I could divvy up my rating for food quality and service quality, I would. Foodwise, they deserve 5 stars, servicewise, 2-3 stars, tops. Following a large event in Langley, a few members of my team were looking for food that would be OK for our vegetarian members. Village Pizzeria was our destination. There was a bit of a line waiting for tables, we lucked out, our group fit at one of the available tables. Sitting outside, with a GREAT view of the water, eagles and boats, was a nice, relaxing way to enjoy our lunch. Our drink order was taken, a while later, an almost complete round was brought out. We reminded the aloof server that one of our party wanted lemon with her water, he apologized and said he would be right back with them. It took a while before we even SAW the server again, let alone were in his view. He made it 2/3s of the way to another table with a to-go container before he realized he forgot the lemons. Minutes later he arrived and dropped off 2 small slices of lemon. Our food was delivered by the tables around us. He was an AMAZING server, full of zeal, great personality, had a great rapport with his tables. Our drinks were long empty, and another bland (bordering on annoyed) girl came out and asked us if we needed anything. I asked if we could get some more water, she seemed put off that we would ask such a thing. We spent most of our lunch drinkless, and without any interaction with the staff that should have helped us. If I need food and am in Langley again, I would love to try more of their food. My meatball sub was HUGE and delicious. The pizza looked and smelled amazing, as did the pasta another person at our table had. ***** For the food *** for the service

The pizza was reeeeeeally greasy. Like, oil was dripping off my pizza. And the tomato and onion on my pizza was raw! In the 31 years of my life, I have never seen raw onions sliced in about 1/2 inch thick on my pizza, uncooked. I think the owner and/or chef need to take pizza making 101.

Pizza was good, and service was fine. Nothing to write home about. However, cash only, really? At least they provided a way to get cash with the ATM right inside the door.

If they delivered, our waistlines would be in serious trouble! As it is, we enjoy take out, and the occasional dinner with the family. The staff is always friendly and accommodating of our our two boys. We all love the clam pizza! Come prepared- they don't take plastic! There's an ATM inside, but you'll save on fees if you bring cash. Local checks accepted as well.

I went to Village Pizza probably half a dozen times when I lived on Whidbey last year. I'd long since given up on having a great slice of pizza--so when I took that first bite I was blown away. It's real East Coast pizza. I'm sure you can get a better slice in NYC or in Boston's North End (my home town), but this sure can hold it's own. The crust is nice and thin, the sauce just perfect, and the cheese--it's been a long time since I've had pizza with such good cheese. And yes, the slices are huge, but I always made room for two because they were so good (something I usually don't do). For the folks upset that the service isn't up to snuff (I always found it fine), that the decor wasn't to their liking, or that they only take cash --- IT"S A PIZZA JOINT!!! If you want great ambiance and service, just cross the street and be prepared to spend a lot more money on your credit card. Or, find one of the hip, trendy, atmospheric Seattle pizza places that can put on a show or an attitude, but can't come close to making pizza like Village Pizza.

The best pizza in the Pacific NW. I have had pizza all over the country and everyone has their favorites, mine is simple Brooklyn style pizza. The kind I can find in Brooklyn, Queens, Long Island and in some places in Manhattan. The owner is from Brooklyn and spent years building up his chain in the bay area. He retired in Langley just for us thin crusted (sometimes called tasteless) with a solid tomato sauce and good ingredients. We eat there at least once a month.

We vacationed on Whidbey Island over the July 1st long weekend and this restaurant was highly recommended by friends as having great views and great pizza. Well, the view was great. We opted to sit outside - a lovely garden overlooking the water. Unfortunately, that was it for the 'good' A table that arrived before us waited an hour for their pizza. They had to have the order packed up to go as they were out of time. The table on the other side of us arrived after us. Their order arrived before ours...and they received profuse apologies (and free slices!) because of the wait. We still had not received the pizza we ordered. I inquired twice about our order - both times told they'd 'check'. No apologies for the wait. When the pizza did arrive, it was a hard as a board and the cheese was congealed-looking. We ordered a half/half of the pesto and village special. It was awful. it wasn't even hot. We received no recognition for the wait. I will never go back. So disappointing.

I LOVE THIS PLACE! I've been coming here for years and it never dissapoints. My boyfriend and I have made a ritual of getting off the ferry in Clinton and heading straight to Village Pizzeria. Their slices are HUGE and the pesto pizza is my favorite. I also love their house salad dressing, so glad they bottle it! Lastly, the service is great. It's always the same guys throwing the pies and filling our drinks. Can't wait to go back again...soon!

After a long day of playing on the beach with a domesticated wolf that thankfully wore my dog out, I was HUNGRY.... A friend convinced me to grab something to eat that was not at my usual place frequented after the beach. I discovered a whole new part of Whidbey Island. The town of Langley on the water. This is where I was introduced to Village Pizzeria who supposedly had this GREAT pizza with hand tossed crust and some toppings that were made in house (ie pesto, sausage, etc). Considering I was with someone that the whole staff knew, the service was laid back, but still on top of things for us. Never wanting for another beer or something else. We both had a slice and I honestly have to say, hmmmm, it filled the stomach, but it wasn't so mouth watering that I would travel back specifically just for the pizza because I was on the island. The slice was big, but not as big as I've seen in some of the NYC pizza places. The crust was decent, but nothing to write home about. The cheese was a little chewy, toppings were decent and I've never been one to use a napkin to blot out the extra grease, but it was almost a necessary with this slice of pizza as it was dripping off my fingers and onto my plate, EWWW. If in "need" for a slice of pizza, I'd go back, but I definitely would not put it in the category of oooh, I'm on Whidbey Island, I HAVE to go pick up some pizza from this place.

    (3)
  • Amie S.

The pizza here is good - toppings = fresh, sauce = yum, and it's usually served very quickly and with a smile. Just know this: ONE slice is as big as your head. I'm not even kidding. If you're wanting lunch, just go for the single slice option - it's nearly a quarter of a pie. And, that one slice is only gonna put you out around $3-$4 - maybe $5, if you add a soda. And that's exactly why this place is, hands down, the best bargain for your buck in the small town of Langley.

  • Kelsey F.

This place fills a gaping, pizza-shaped hole in Langley - if you want pizza and you're in Langley, this is your choice. And for that, we thank you - you serve an important service. That said, it's not the bestpizza ever (or even close), they don't take plastic (so come with cash) and for two years running they have hosed up our order. Year one - we order two pizzas. We get one pizza that is correct and a second that is close to correct but we can't tell. We don't know if we wound up with someone else's box or if they just messed up the order - regardless, we ignore it because it's "close enough". Year two - we order one pizza (there were less of us) and the people picking up said pizza had just made it back to where we were staying when we get the call saying that they think they gave us the wrong pizza. We open it up - it's not our pizza. They couldn't take it back so we had to send someone back out to pick up our real pizza. And then we had two pizzas. Which sounds like a good deal, but when there's only three of you and you're leaving the island the next day...you get the point. Look, the food's not bad. The problem is that whoever is handing out the orders isn't being careful about their job and making sure that you get the right pizza box. So save yourself the pain and double check the pizza box before you leave.

I am a former local resident of whidby island and having said that I can say without doubt that this is the best pizza on the island hands down! Its has a warm cozy atmosphere and friendly service your your practically treated like family here when asked what I miss most about the island its always an essay answer " I miss the pizza " I hope to return soon for my half sicilian pesto mushroom and sausage my personal favorite (^_^)

The husband and I ventured into Langley today and ended up at the Village Pizzeria for what was going to be a quick slice. They DO have (limited) slices available, but the whole pies were cheap enough, and husband was hungry enough, we decided to just to that instead. When we saw our "small" pie, I thought there had to be a mistake as it was significantly larger than I would have expected. We ended up not needing dinner tonight as we were both quite full by the time we were done and still had a few extra slices to bring home. The thin crust pizza is not true "Neapolitan" style as it is advertised on the menu, but is still quite tasty. I had a decent glass of house wine and husband had lemonade which he reports was quite good and came with unlimited (gratis) refills. The service was friendly and efficient. Not sure when we'll be in Langley again, but, when we are, could definitely see making another stop here.

The Pizza is average, its so average that I cant remember what kind I had 4 days ago. The seating inside is a little tight. The staff is very friendly. They only take cash and the ATM in there was broken so we had to walk across the street to the bank to get cash.

We love the pesto and the sicilian thick crust is outstanding. Best pizza on the island (and top notch for the mainland as well)

When we first moved to Langley, we were concerned that we would really miss out favorite Berkeley pizzeria. That was until we found Village Pizzeria. They make excellent pizza! The crust is perfect, the sauces are delicious, and the ingredients are all first rate. Our favorite is a thin crust sausage, tomato, and mushroom pizza. The pesto pizzas are great too. Since they can get pretty busy, especially on the weekends, know that you can put your order in early for a certain pick time, or get a half-baked pizza to finish up late at home.

Langley should thank god the waiters here work in their own little upscale world, separate from the little upscale world of the town itself, which is actually quite friendly. These people almost had us mainlanders thinking they were representative of the town... Husband and I stopped in for afternoon beers around 2:30 pm on a Sunday. After we were seated, we informed the waiter that we were not terribly interested in any food. He did a double take and informed us that if the place got busy he'd have to send us inside. There were a total of about 6 tables out there; three including ours was seated. So, since real estate seemed at such a premium, we decided to order a token slice to shut up our waiter. When he came over and we informed him we'd like a slice, he said in disbelief, "JUST one?" It gets better. After we finished our slice and beer, I set down $15 cash to let him know we were ready to leave. He picked it up and said, "Hmm, I guess this should cover it..." I haven't in recent memory felt so unwelcome just by virtue of the fact that I was not part of an eight-top of soda-drinking tourists. I refuse to be treated this way at a place with dirty, wobbly, plastic furniture. This place would do well to take care of customers who are stopping in for a casual beer, which probably cost as much as one of the crappy, oversized slices anyway, and has a much higher markup.

Went to the place on Fathers Day, could see they were somewhat busy so just decided to have a couple bloody marys and stand outside at the little tables they have to stand at. Took 3 times for somebody to finally, actually take my order instead of just asking me what I want then forgetting about it. Took 20 minutes to get 2 drinks that tasted like V8 with ice cubes in it. Blonde girl that finally ended up being our waitress was totally rude just because I wanted my check, we had already been there to long just waiting for 2 crappy drinks. Waited another 15 minutes just for her to bring us the check, and then when we were ready to pay and finally get out of there, she slow walked us again, and kept running up and down the little stairs that go to the beach texting on her phone. We finally just went inside to pay, and she rushes back up with an attitude saying she had important business to take care of, ya right. From what I seen of the food it looked at the best mediocre, with portions coming to people all dried up looking like they had been under the warming element for far to long, I am a cook and I can spot these things a mile away. We will not return just because I can see the chaos and confusion that this inexperienced staff has. Plus the pizza looked crappy also......I LOVE LANGLEY though, it is so cool. Also I forgot to mention that is was 15 bucks for two very small, very weak, no taste or garnish bloody marys, so bring your piggy bank for this place.

The pizza can be really good. The pasta, however, is to die FROM. Worst heartburn I've ever had. I still feel the acid reflux a week later. But I have been back for the pizza. Do I have a death wish, or does this place have a great location and great prices? Other than a slightly too acidic tomato sauce and a too peppery pepperponi, they make a good pizza. And it does good business... not that you have that many swallowable choices in Langley. There is a lot of takeout business, so call 20 minutes ahead of time. Friendly staff, scenic outdoor patio... it's all good. Just DON'T order the spaghetti with meatballs. Don't! Or you will suffer pain! Major pain!

Grew up on that end of the island, and went there a lot. Their pesto pizza is top notch, you'd be missing out if you chose something else while there. Ive lived in a few places, and while its not as good as some of the pizza in New York or Boston it is well above average for our area.

The deep dish (they call it "thick crust") was actually good. Although it was annoying they only take local checks and cash.

It's OK, very pricey, but you do get good pizza.

The problem with those of us living on Whidbey Island is that we live in such an eating out wasteland: its like giving a glass of water to a man on a desert island--of course it tastes like nectar! So it is with Village Pizzeria--the food is really only so-so, but its the best pizza on the south end of the island, so we're sort of stuck with it. The prices approach outrageous, and they don't take credit or debit cards, which seems completely rude to me, given that they are catering to tourists and visitors (they do have an ATM, so they're making a percentage every time people use it--what a rip!)

Well I wish I could tell you about the food here but, alas, I cannot. And that's because I was never afforded the opportunity to order! If it wasn't for the location of Village Pizzeria they'd sink like lead. They have outdoor view seating in lovely Langley, WA on Whidbey Island. We approached the line for outdoor seating with our dog and were rather coolly informed no dogs allowed. Weird, given how pet-friendly the entire area is, but fine. While my husband brought Mia back to the car I stayed in line for a seat. The waiter re-emerged from the restaurant and began an earnest conversation with two people he knew who stood near the door. I waited for his attention, or anyone's attention, assuming he was on break. A man came and stood behind me in line, then another. We're all looking at the waiter, wondering aloud WTF. Finally this waiter "on break" (maybe, maybe not) Says to his friends, "I guess I better go help these people." Yeah you heard that right! Excuse us for inconveniencing you on your job. I ask for shade, he begins to wipe down a table mostly in the sun. Um.....I need shade please. "Oh you meant COMPLETE shade." No, I was just kidding. I sit under an umbrella with menus in hand and he disappears inside again. My husband returns and we peruse the menus. No one returns. By this time I'm fed up, we get up and leave and no one notices. We go across the street to Prima Bistro, mention the atrocious service to our waiter and he tells us they are notorious for it. See my review of the excellent Primo Bistro!

Visited here during our recent stay in Langley after reading reviews and thought the pizza was really good. We ordered 2 large pizzas (1/2 cheese, 1/2 pesto, and 1 hawaiian) and all were very tasty. Crust was well done and the pizzas were not oozing with grease. We did not eat in the restaurant due to how busy they were inside so I can't comment on the 'tude of the staff that some reviewers mention but the gentleman who took our order was friendly and helpful with pointing us in the direction of the market across the street for some wine. He also said our pizza would be done in 25 minutes and sure enough it was ready for us after we returned from the market to pick it up. We will definitely revisit Village Pizzeria on our next trip to Langley and suggest you visit as well and form your own opinions because when it comes to pizza there's too many factors and peoples' tastes are so variable that you can't go by someone else's star rating. Beware they do not accept credit cards.

This is my favorite pizza of anyplace! I live in Oak Harbor and have lived in Seattle, and Chicago. I love the Esta Feta Pizza with its yummy Pesto and Greek-style pizza. The crust (available in thick or thin) is hand-tossed and is very tasty, The pizza slices are also huge and good. I think that the service is very friendly and good. They even have a generator so you can get pizza there when the power is out everywhere else. I love the outdoor seating with the view of Saratoga Passage in the summer. I also like the Greek salad with their homemade dressing.

To be honest, wound up here only because vacation house we were renting didn't have cable, it was the night of Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Finals and we'd just left Chicago! They couldn't have been nicer in switching off the Mariners game to allow us to watch a hockey game that no one else except us cared about while we ate good pizza and eggplant parmasean sandwiches. Terrific folks! Thanks!!
