Safura’s Mediterranean Cuisine Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

This was a lovely meal, based on the suggestion from the waitress, and I wasn't disappointed. Small, unusual location for a restaurant, but worth the trip. Casual atmosphere, with good-sized portions and priced well.

I wish I had found this place when I used to work in the area. The food is good and service is friendly. I don't know of anywhere else to get a delicious gyro for $5. I will definitely come back when I'm working in the area again.

Excellent food, and great people. The food is fresh and tasty. The decor is a little bland but I don't go to a restaurant for their vases. Sadly, I don't live in Lacey anymore but I make special trips down there. If you're in a rush, call ahead with your order and it will be ready in about 10 to 15 mins.

Yelp seems to be a horrible source of good eats in Lacey/Olympia. Either that, or the choices really do suck. I was hoping the few negative reviews were wrong, but it is true. This is a family owned business and I am sad to give such a low review, but we arrived at 7:10pm, and watched multiple take out orders being filled while many diners were left waiting for their meals for almost an hour! The food was overcooked (almost burnt), and I think they need to improve their efficiency since everything is pretty much cooked on the same grill. The prices are indeed very good (mixed grill for $8.95), but not too sure the lack of service makes up for it. We could not even get someone to seat us, even though the waitress was standing right there and saw us, and it was a long, lonely wait as we watched many tables get serviced except ours. It is too bad because there is so much potential here.

I can' recall the last time Yelp steered me so wrong. Appears to be a family run place in a business park strip mall. Family run places can either be awesome but often times are plagued by stinginess, cost saving, and poor service which was the case here. Everything was dry and lacking in flavor. Service was poor as every request had to be made twice, extra plate extra dressing... Sensed some unfriendliness too. Was never asked if we wanted a refill of the sodas which was just as well since they were semi flat with little ice. Paying was also odd. Dining is sit down but then everyone has to stand in line to pay along with the to go orders. Honestly I can't understand how this place averages 4 stars. I only gave it 2 because if one is the lowest for the worst of the worst of the most inedible that the food here is at least edible. Gyro Spot is better.

The food here is absolutely amazing and the service is very nice. A nice family run place and the menu is HUGE. They do fresh juices along with their Mediterranean cuisine. The portion sizes are awesome and the prices are very fair.

I'm really not sure what happened to Safura's. For the last 5-10 years, we've loved going for a yummy gyro lunch or dinner, and service has always been decent (not spectacular but not the worst). Food has always been pretty good and prices aren't horrible. Last night though changed a lot for us. First we came in (family of 4 including a teen and small child). We stopped momentarily to wait for someone to seat us, but there was only one server doddling with another customer in the corner of the restaurant. I said hello and smiled to the really kind lady behind the counter and she aknowledged us, so we sat down at a table. Meanwhile another group of 4 comes in after us and sits down at another table. A second server comes out from the back finally, passes by us, and takes menus to the other people. The lady saw that, so she brought us menus. Sadly, no one ever came to our table after that so we decided to opt out of dinner and leave. But that gave us a chance to hop over to Jim Bob's Chuck Wagon bbq to try, and sure glad we did! I'm not 100% ruling out Safura's, but service REALLY needs improvement.

So close to 5 stars for me. My girlfriend and I went in around 1230 on a Thursday and were served promptly. After looking at the menu, she decided on the swarma platter and I chose the beef/lamb gyro. Was sad not to see a taziki and hummus plate for an appetizer so we went with a side of each with some pita bread to dip. 6 minutes later we were both served. Service was top notch. 5 star here. Now for the food. Let's just say that lunch was quiet. My girlfriend probably said two words the whole lunch, she was throughly enjoyed. My gyro was pretty dang good to. The only complaint I could have is that the meat was cooked a little long, it was charbroiled on one side and a little dry because of that, but the taziki sauce made up for it. The side of taziki was great and the hummus while different from other hummus we've had before was a nice change. Food side I would go with a solid 4 star. And finally the price. Easily the best part about the meal. Both of us being college students we don't make much. For her swarma platter, the 2 sides of dip, 2 extra pitas, my gyro, and then some baklava for dessert, only came up to $18.75. For the amazing and fresh food, and excellent service we received I was extremely pleased. Will definitely be coming back!

I really wanted to like this place, but the food was yucky. Meat was extremely dry, portions were small, service was non-existent. I'm sad.

We are visiting Olympia Washington today but couldn't find any Arab food so we drove to Lacey. The owners and servers were all family and really just the nicest people ever! Some of the family members are from South America so the dishes have that influence. They went out of their way to make sure we were happy. All the food was delicious hot, and over the top. We enjoyed being here so much and appreciate the friendliness :-) definitely worth driving from Portland if you're on your way to Tacoma or Seattle.

Probably one of my favorite places to eat! Prices are reasonable and their gyros are so good. It's quiet and the service sometimes takes a bit but it is well worth it. I recommend it quite frequently.

Best gyros ever! Everything about what I ordered is worth the inexpensive price! I can see myself becoming a regular at this place.

Good Mediterranean, I ordered the lamb beef gyro which was also really messy to eat but overall the prices for what you're getting are good

Hidden gem of Olympia. I usually wouldn't have given this place a chance based on the appearance while driving by (which we did without noticing for many months), but I was disappointed by other gyros in the area and desperate to find a new one. The gyros are very good (not the best, but still great), but their felafel and french fries (yes, french fries) are some of the best I've ever had! Would be tempted to rate 5 stars, but the ambiance is a bit lacking.

  • Mel N.

My mom and I like to meet in the Olympia area to have lunch and enjoy trying new places. We love Mediterranean food and decided to give this place a try. I ordered a traditional Gyro, my mom ordered the Falafel and we shared an order of Dalmas. Delicious!!! One of the best gyros I've had. The food was cooked to order and completely satisfied our taste buds with amazing flavor. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is we had to remind our server twice to bring our beverages. That said it was busy during the lunch our so we were understanding. Don't let that deter you from trying this restaurant out. The service was still friendly. The decor is simple. Nothing fancy. But you are there for the food. And I would rather eat at a hole in the wall restaurant with great food than one with great ambiance and mediocre food. We will be back. And the easy access on/off I5 is a plus.

I don't know why it took me so long to try Safura's now that I have eaten there. I always see it perched just off the street next two the Anytime Fitness in Lacey and I'm like, " I have to go here". My friend wanted to try somewhere new after we got off work and we decided to go here. It's surprisingly big in the seating area and there is waiter service. I will say that the parking is slightly odd as you can't park on the main street. You have to come around the back by the Anytime Fitness parking lot. Anyway, we were promptly greeted as we entered and took any available seat. The décor is a little less than modern, but it was clean and wasn't off-putting. The bathroom was also clean and did not smell bad, so instant 1 star addition. The waiter came and took our order and was super smooth and very conversational and not stand offish and salty like many other restaurants. This appears to be a family run joint so it's was cute to see what appeared to be gramma and gramps sizzling meats in the back or running the register. The waiter also was very helpful with selections of the menu. The menu has A LOT of choices. If you're not familiar with Mediterranean food, don't be scared because they will help you find something you like. Trust me thought, there really isn't much on the menu you won't like. There are also A LOT of choices for vegetarians. I'm not sure about vegans or gluten-free people, but I would almost bet there is something there. Our food came and I was glad it wasn't the super large portions I've seen at other Mediterranean type restaurants. I was hungry, but I wasn't trying to feel like I ate a huge water buffalo afterwards. Water buffalo is filing, right?! Anyway, it was the perfect portion size. We had an appetizer of feta, tomatoes, and unpitted black olives drizzled in olive oil with warm pita. It was so simple and the perfect definition of what an appetizer should be light, not totally filling, and enough to tide you over until the entrée comes. My friend got a lamb gyro with fries. "Put the fries in the gyro!," our waiter came over to the table and mentioned. My friend did, and basically was #gyrowasted & #gameover. I had the veggie platter which was pita bread, spinach pie (spinach, cheese, & other things under layers of phyllo), tabouleh, hummus, falafel, & dolmas. (See the picture). Everything was fresh and tasted soooo good especially the tabouleh. If you don't like parsley though, you may not want to get the tabouleh. The hummus had good flavor too and didn't taste like "the can". I will definitely go here again. The food and gentle atmosphere is well worth the time and money which I might add was not too bad on the wallet. Oh and I ran into Laura M. Olympia, WA while I was there so it was cool to see another Yelper there.

I can't believe I've never written a review for this place before and it's one of my favorite places to eat. My vegan friend introduced me to this restaurant one day saying she and her non-vegan husband love it there. I'm so glad to took me here because my husband and I love it too! It's a very casual laid back atmosphere, family owned and they are a very nice family at that. The food is great. The portions are large and the prices are small. They have a great selection of baklava there too as well as cafe drinks to choose from.

Vegetarian falafel looks different than traditionally served but tastes pretty good. Different: flattened patty-like falafel semi wrapped in thick pita bread. Had to eventually eat the wrap the English way. Fork and knife:) But again, tastes pretty good! Price was just right too. As for service, sweet and friendly staff. Decor reminds me of nursing homes. Pink and teal. Everywhere. But clean and well ventilated. Thumbs up! They also carry a large amount of desserts. Must try next time.

I have been eating here for about 4 years now. It is not exactly destination dining, and definitely not a place to go for ambience or people watching on a Friday or Saturday night. That said, it is a godsend when you just want a light but satisfying healthy meal that is nicely seasoned, well presented and reasonably priced. A plus is that it has nice vegan and vegetarian options, helpful when I'm dining with my daughter, who is a dedicated vegan. I tried her falafel and it was delicious. The baklava and other pastries look delicious, but I am always too full to try them.

This is one of my favorite restaurants to eat at. I've been a customer for quite a few years now. The service has always been amazing, and our food cooked to perfection. The reason I give a 4 out of 5 is there is no changing tables in the restroom. I have twin boys so this is a necessity. Besides that I recommend everyone try this amazing resturant.

Dolmas- yum! Tabouli- very light and refreshing. Falafel sandwich- messy and yummy! Very flavorful falafels! Price is good, atmosphere good.

Good greek food! I usually get their chicken gyros and falafels here. The food takes awhile to come out do make sure you have plenty of time to wait when you decide to come here.

Conveniently located with ample parking space with enough seatings inside. The waitress was great. Checking with us every 15 min or so. The food we had was really good too with lots of portion and very reasonable price!

I got the Chicken gyros platter, my date got the beef and lamb. It was done quickly and was very tasty. Loved the tzatziki. It was pretty quiet when we went, lots of seating, clean. The waiter was friendly but not overly attentive; my water ran out a couple times. Nice light fare, perfect for hot days.

This is in a strange location, an office building behind Arby's, Wendy's and McDonald's and across from value village. No lighted sign but the open sign is lit. Keep an eye out, it's worth it. Had the vegetarian delight. Spanakopita, hummus, dolmas, salad, falafel. It was very good. I didn't love the hummus as much as the rest. It was a bit bland. The falafel was awesome. Get them if you come here! Friend had the moussaka platter. Basically the same as mine with moussaka instead of the hummus. Said it was #epic. I'll definitely be back

A friend recommended this place to my husband and me a few weeks ago and today we finally decided to eat here. We were not disappointed. First of all, the staff is very friendly and addressed us as soon as we entered the restaurant. The waiter continued to check us the entire time we were at the restaurant. The food is delicious! This place is a lot better than the gyro place located on 4th Street in Olympia!! We will definitely come back and eat here again.

I'm doing my omg this food is good dance. Amazing staff that were very nice who let me know upfront that they were running behind due to a lot of orders, which was expect since the reviews for here are pretty good. I ordered the mix kabob plate, so much food came with it. And it all tastes great! Also had a plate of humus with pita bread, really good too. Coming back as soon as I finish the left overs I'm taking home.

I won't mention names, but there are a few other Mediterranean/kebab places who have opened restaurants in the Lacey area. To them I would say: why bother? The service at Safura's is excellent, from the moment you come in, multiple staff members are making sure you are comfortable and checking on you. The prices are excellent, especially for the amount of food you receive, and the quality. The menu is expansive, with added specials. The meat quality is excellent, especially the lamb and the shrimp, which are a step above other restaurants in the area. Out of all the Mediterranean restaurants in Thurston county - this is hands down: the best.

  • Brad B.

I was in the area on business and Safura's was recommended to me as a place to try. I ordered one of their vegetarian platters and it was ok. I found the hummus and falafel very flavorful, but the spinach pie, as they termed it, was tuff. As the crust was made of phyllo dough, this was definitely not expected. The dish also came with tabouli, which, in my opinion, had too much parsley in it and overpowered the dish. With this said, as mentioned in other reviews, the service was good and they did ensure they checked in periodically to ensure you were not wanting anything.

  • Kyle P.

By far the best gyros I've had in a long time. Service was perfect, just enough attention but not annoying me every five min. Had beef and lamb gyro, or dönner kebab whatever you want to call it. The meat was so awesome. Also had some falsfels on the side which were great. First time I've had them pressed instead of round but they were good. Tzatziki sauce was so good. Only bummer was i didn't notice the regular gyro didn't come standard with feta. I would recommend this place to anyone.

The food is good and plentiful, though most definitely not traditional Greek. I had the kofta, which was spicy enough to leave my mouth burning for at least an hour after we finished eating, but I hate spicy food. My wife ordered extra toubule for $2 extra, but was disappointed to find that it contained neither bulgur nor mint and was instead a cucumber salad with some parsley. The hummus is house made and very good, as is the fluffy soft pita that comes with it. Desserts are fabulous and cheap. Overall, we were happy with our meal. Our main gripes were: 1) our waitress was not very attentive despite the fact there were only two other occupied tables in the whole place. She also forgot two things that we ordered and didn't remember the choices we made for our meals (we could each chose between two things and neither of us got what we picked). 2) when we first ordered, I asked about getting a Greek coffee and was advised by our waitress to just order it after we ate along with dessert. I tried to do so and was informed that it would take over a half hour to make and since they were closing in just under twenty minutes, I couldn't have it. 3) they worry about filling walk in orders first. There is only one guy at the cook top. We watched him pumping out food for over an hour and twenty minutes before we got ours. Again, there were only two other tables in the entire restaurant and one was finishing eating when we got there. It took him about twenty-five minutes to scoop the hummus onto a plate for our appetizer. If you don't want to do the math, that means nearly an hour wait from appetizer to entree. I'm leaving the review at four stars just because the food was so very yummy.

My favorite lunch spot. Quick, quiet and delicious. Nothing fancy just good food. This review is for the Schwarma and gyros. I usually get the Schwarma platter and it is so good sometimes I'm tempted to order two. The gyros are great and so cheap. Definitely a must try.

  • Deb P.

Very casual family run place with friendly service and great food. The menu is diverse Mediterranean dishes. The prices are very reasonable. Next time you look at the bill from your pizza joint know that you could've gotten a real food healthier meal for less. I'll definitely be back! Just hope the owner doesn't retire too soon! The moussaka is out of this world and the traditional desserts are terrific too. Bring your appetite...plenty to try!

  • Erik J.

Good gyros but there's better in town...gyro spot / farmers market. My issue was customer service. I specifically requested no tomato (allergy) and got it with. I asked if they could make another and they didn't say sorry and made me wait 10 minutes before making another, doing the two orders ahead acting like it was my fault. Really irritating, won't ever come back because of that alone.

  • Cindy L.

This is the first time we've tried this restaurant and it was based on former Yelp reviews. We don't have a ton of experience with Mediterranean food in the States, but we have been to Greece before and know what good food is. We arrived at 7:15 and the place closes at 7:30. The wait staff was prompt in attending to us and the waiter was extremely helpful in recommending certain items. We had the hummus as an appetizer. Delish! The pita was soft and warm and the hummus was excellent. I ordered the Kebab combo (chicken, beef, lamb) while my husband had a mixed grill plate recommended by the waiter, which also had the same meats but with the tabouleh. The amount of food on my plate was huge. Unfortunately, the beef and lamb were overcooked and dry. Same with the meat on my husband's plate. When cutting the pieces of the overcooked meat, the super cheap forks actually bent! Not cool. Since the restaurant closed while we were eating, staff were busy cleaning up and didn't come back to check on us much. We had to ask for a take out carton and refills. I don't think we'll be back.

Waiter was the owners son. He made good recommendations. Food came quickly and as expected. Good portions for the money. Could have used a refill on drinks but satisfactory. Family owned. Clean. Good go to for quick lunches! Recommend this place!

  • Megan S.

I have been to this place twice now and both times, I loved the food. The chicken kabob came with rice and vegetables and I ate every bite! The falafel was a little dry the second time I went, but still tasty. The falafel sandwich was also delicious. Next time I go, I will ask about an option to making it more spicy, but the food is perfect spice for my family. The service is slow though, almost an hour for a carry out order, but it was nice seeing my food cooked when I ordered it. If you can, go when you have lost of time to relax or order out. Regardless, it's getting 5 stars because the food taste great and the prices are amazing as well.

First time here food was really good. It was a little difficult to find because of the location in the plaza. I tried #11 since I asked what the most popular item on the menu. The staff is friendly and the food is cheap with a decent amount of food. Together our food was 18.00!

Good food. Friendly staff. Never thought Id complain about this but lots of meat, not as much veggies. Great prices!!!

Went to safura's last night with a former work colleague. We got there right in the middle of their shift change so there was a bit of confusion. Nothing too bad. When our waiter showed up at the table, he was very polite but his mannerisms struck me as odd and distracting. As I was trying to order he kept talking over me until I finally had to ask him to allow me to finish my train of thought. We both ordered our food at the same time but our meals arrived separately - to the point where I urged my colleague to go ahead and start eating. Once all the food arrived, it was as we ordered. The food was that and plentiful. Aside from the weird waiter and the odd time difference in getting our food - the place was good. Lots of other customers going on and out. Size able menu for all palettes. They even have Spanish speaking staff to help with any potential language barriers. Id go again - but try to stay away from the weird guy!

  • Bret D.

Haven't been in here in a while, but nothing has changed. Great service, great food, great baklava! If you order the gyro, just be warned that the "normal" size is ample! The shrimp and chicken salad is huge and delicious, and our plate had 7 good sized prawns. Good portion for the $

Prices are very reasonable. Always busy. Having the beef and lamb gyro. Very tasty. Each of my party tried something different and all reported it was good....even the teenagers had good compliments.

What a deal!!!!!!! This place has great food, lots of options and the price is amazing. I was so shocked when I ate here for two people we got two apps, two entrees, two desserts and a bottle of their hot sauce (which you have to try, I've been using it on everything) and our total came to $35, what!?!?! and from the look of their menu they had just raised the prices. So yes the price point is there, but not only is it a great deal you also get some delicious food, normally I am not a fan of grape leaves but theirs were so good I couldn't put them down, and that's just one of the many things we tried. The service was also great, it's a family run place, they are all very nice and helpful when it comes to choosing the best meal. All and all, I will be returning very soon

Tasty food and a good value: it's a win-win scenario! Looking for a quick bite while heading south, I didn't want to settle for one of the standard fast-food chains so I checked the Yelp app to see what else was around. A Mediterranean cafe close to the freeway? Score! The Shawarma value meal (seasoned gyro meat grilled with onion, bell peppers and tomatoes wrapped in pita and with tahina or tdaziki sauce, served with fries and a drink) was a good sized and delicious lunch for under $10 with tax. Free refills on iced tea and some sweet & flaky baklava for dessert made the meal that much better. Oh, they make their own hot sauce here too, which is pretty awesome. The cafe itself was bright, airy, and comfortable, and the staff were friendly and efficient. There are a ton of options on the menu here; can't wait to come back and try some more!

  • Joff Z.

This place is fantastic. Cheap, lots of variety, and friendly, attentive staff. My girlfriend and I split a gyro platter, a shawarma platter, and greek fries ( not on menu-- server was accommodating-- ordered a side of fries and asked for feta on top, and extra tzatziki that I mixed with ketchup). This was a really good amount of food for the super affordable price, and we ate everything because it was so delicious. Gyro meat was a standout, as were the dolmas. Fries were crinkly and crisp. I"m getting hungry just writing this. I need to go back. Lots of regulars came through while we ate, ordering their "regular" food, and the waitstaff seemed legitimately stoked on conversing with them. They serve Batdorf and Bronson w/ a full cafe menu, and they had an enticing pastry case with traditional goodies. Can't believe I've missed out on this but really glad I looked up the best Greek spots in the area. Truly an awesome little place.

I Love the food and a hard working family is running it. I'm never disappointed when I decide to go here for lunch or dinner. The gyros are great, salads, hummus and pita are delish. You can really tell they take pride in their restaurant.

  • Brad S.

So I see a lot of reviews that remove stars due to the admittedly bad decor, but no one seems to mention the fact that they are the ONLY restaurant that posts their Health Department inspection report at the front counter. Oh, bye the way, it is always perfect. So do you want pretty or clean? I vote clean. And the food is good too. So stop by sometime and have a delicious gyro in the cleanest restaurant you'll ever be in.

  • Tim G.

This place is awesome in so many ways. Their food is delicious, I had the Sawarma plate, my girlfriend had the chicken gyro plate, and we had the hummus and dolmas for apps. Everything was amazing. Their service is also amazing. It's a family place, and everyone is warm and welcoming. The most unexpected part was the price. We had two apps, two entrees, two pieces of baklava, and we purchased a bottle of their hot sauce for a total of $34.79!!!!!!! This place has just become a new staple!

I wanted to like this place, heck I'm half Lebanese! But it didn't seem incredibly authentic to me. The prices are reasonable. Service was decent, but it was slow on a very crowded Friday night so I should be fair! I'm told the gyros are good, which I may have to try another time. The dolmas were ok and falafel a bit dry. Maybe I need to give them another chance?

    (3)
  • Katt M.

Very good gyro! It's difficult to get good ones in Olympia/Lacey. Service was friendly and prompt. Don't bother with the fries--they're frozen crinkle fries. Too, the hot tea is just a teabag. Stick with the gyro and you won't be disappointed.

This is the second time I have eaten there for lunch. The food is fresh, delicious and inexpensive. The first time I had the Grilled Shrimp Salad. The shrimp were plentiful, and the asparagus and potatoes were cooked just right. Both times I got a side of spanakopita, and it tasted just like the ones I get at the Greek Festival in Tacoma. This time I got the Vegetarian Combo, substituting Falafel for the dolmas. Everything tasted so good! I wish I lived closer. It is about the same price as a meal at McDonld's, but mush tastier and healthier. The service was great both times as well.

Stumbled upon this place by accident. The best Mediterranean in Olympia/Lacey. It's family owned. You should expect to stay a while. It's not a fast in / out place but the food is well worth it!

I was excited to try this place, been to Greece, Turkey and the middle east myself ( as well I am a trained chef) I expected fantastic food , according to this review. Also living in Europe gave me a fair share to experience some really good Gyros, here comes the negative. I entered the store by 11:45 the gyros meat stick was almost done ( a rule in any good gyros place, each day a new meat stick, flavor wise a must), so I opted out the gyros. I tried the moussaka platter, I took a bite- couldn't stand the taste, filo dough filled with spinach, was awful, it's been spinach out of the box. The little " wheels" been cold and dry, and the salad had no flavor. The dolma was tolerable but the Kebob place down the street has better food and much more flavor. Been excited to see all the desserts I took 3 home, I ask the waiter where they are come from, and his response was some company ships that from Oregon, and the ret my dad makes it. Ok, so here I took a bite out of the baklava and it was so dry and tasteless , no thank you. If you ever overseas go to a baklava store, and buy a fresh made baklava and you will know the difference. I also asked for rice as side dish, I received fries. The good: Price, friendly staff

I love Mediterranean food and I'm happy that this place is in Lacey. The food was good but not great. I ordered the Shawarma meal and it did the job. My wife ordered the same. The Food is decently priced and it restaurant sits in a nice cozy area. The service was also good. I wish the food had a little bit more spice to it, but that was my own personal preference. Overall, its a place that i would keep going to.

Small Mediterranean restaurant, but delicious food. Even better prices. I had the veggie combo and enjoyed how clean it was. Most of the foods I was trying for the first time, all tasted good to me except the small salad. I also ordered fresh juice u get to choose two fruits I choose strawberry & orange and loved it.

The gyros meat is fresh and flavorful. The nana bread is great. The yogurt sauce makes it come together perfectly. The greek salad was also fresh and had plenty of feta cheese. The selection of desserts is great. The Bird's nest and baklava are super yummy. We had dinner Saturday night and our male server was helpful with our meal selection. But everyone was friendly and welcoming. It was very clean. We have been here before and we will be back.

Food is always fresh and worth the the price. My absolute favorite is the warm pita with hummus. My husband always gets a gyro.

As an extra credit assignment for my Middle Eastern Studies class I was required to eat at a Middle Eastern restaurant. In Olympia, Safura's is just about your only option but that doesn't mean you are left wanting... The staff were friendly and helpful with picking an authentic Middle Eastern dish. Everything tasted great and I will definitely be back.

My waitress sits me in the back where other tables are stored in piles. There were plenty of other seats. She then asks me if I wanted to drink, which was fine. Then I quickly asks, if I wanted any appetizers. I haven't even opened the menu let alone catch my breath -- how do I know what appetizer to get?!? She clearly needs more training. Food was honestly okay. Got the gyro plate and the portion was pretty good. It includes a small side salad, dolmeh, and spinakopita. All for $9. Not bad.

Fresh, tasty, great service, good prices. If I lived near by, I'd come often. Four instead of five stars because it's hard to get five stars out of me unless the giro meat is super authentic, which has been impossible to find in this past of the world. Definitely recommend this place.

My wife and I love this place. I've done take-out from here many many times and it has never disappointed. We usually get two lamb and beef Gyro's no lettuce and no onion. Wife get the feta/olive app and I get the calamari. Zero complaints for any of it. The gyro's are great, lots of meat, plenty of tsatziki and tomatoes. Calamari is crispy and tasty always (wish they gave me tsatziki instead of tartar, but you can't have everything) and good olives and chunks of feta and tomatoes for the other app. The staff is always super courteous and pleasant and it's always very quick. Generally in and out in 5 to 8 eight minutes. I can't speak for eating in, as I haven't for years, but for take-out it's the best!

In 1982, I met my future wife over a falafel dinner. That was my introduction to Medit. food. Perhaps sentimentally, I have been a falafel connoisseur since then. On the matter of falafel, Safura is tops in my books. The sandwich or the various falafel plates are all yummy. The falafel are all fried just right -- crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The hummus/pita appetizer is wonderful. I've never had hummus that had the light and "fluffy" texture as Safura's. My wife often orders the Mediterranean chicken salad that is chock full of feta cheese, olives and an ample portion of grilled chicken. What ever the entree, you will like the generous servings. There are other many veggie dishes and also meat dishes, all in a Halal certified kitchen. But save room for dessert. They have honey-eee baklava that is so fresh and gooey. I'd be negligent if I did not mention the owners and their wait staff. The food is cooked to order by the owners (I think) and the service prompt and delightful. In short, in an area where local restaurants are fewer and fewer in favor of cardboard tasting food chains, it is so darn nice to have a locally owned and staffed place that just happens to serve the best damn falafels.

Very good Humus and fresh ingredients in the Gyro make this place a gem among the fast food places surrounding this area. Definitely worth the short drive from the freeway.

This place probably has the best Mediterranean food in Olympia. Not a hard title to get though, being one of the only places in Oly for a good gyro. That being said, the Gyro's are AWESOME! Lots of peppery meat piled high, and a delicious tzaziki sauce. The pita is warm and soft, making for lots of perfect bites at just $5!! The baclava is sweet and gooey, without being drenched in honey, although is a bit heavy on the filo, so eating it with a fork is really tough. The calamari is pretty good, done in an onion ring type batter, and served with tzaziki. The only reason this got four stars instead of five, is the salads. The Greek salad is not what you'd expect. It's just a lettuce salad with some feta and olives on it. The olives are not pitted, so you have to watch out for that, and the dressing is terrible. It's just like some red wine vinegar was poured on top. The tabouleh has some great potential in terms of consistency of ingredients, but there is no flavour to it. It needs some more lemon juice or something. All you get is mouthfuls of parsley. If the salads got a little attention, this place would be an easy five stars!

Inside, it just looks like a typical lunch place, with a pastry case and tables. They have espresso and fountain drinks, plus tea. For food, they have a ton of traditional greek dishes you would find at a place like this! Gyros, falafel, spanikopita, etc. Price is around 7.00 a plate and for dinner dishes, up to 13. Not bad at all for yummy, fresh food. Its worth it too, since it was super delicious. We got the shawarma platter and super gyro, with extra dolmas. The dolmas (my favorite) were especially good. :) The service was courteous and helpful and the place is quiet so if you need something, it was easy to get help or walk over to the counter. The young guy that helped us was very nice. We will 100% be going back!

I picked up a super gyro today for take out and when I took it out of the bag I learned two things. First, they serve "Kronos Gyros". Second, if I believe what's written, they are America's Favorite Gyros! I really hadn't thought much about this and figured the gyros they served were Safura's, but I guess it makes sense... like a hot dog place serving Vienna Beef. Now onto eating it and not thinking about it... The super gyro had a number of things going for it: it's huge, it's cheap, and it's served at a nice spot with friendly staff. The taste isn't anything that wowed or surprised me though, it was very standard. Since the departure of Johnnie's Greek Cafe (which was FAR better and FAR more expensive) - I believe this is now the best place to get your gyro on.

Good food, great portions. Tabbouleh could use more wheat germ and less parsley, though.

I've eaten here many times and I agree with some of the other reviews that it isn't as good as it use to be. The last visit was okay but nothing special. We got everything we ordered and it came in a reasonable time, but it just didn't taste as good as it use too. I think they have cut back on the amount of sauce they use or something because it was a little dry and bland. So it was just okay as in 3 stars.

All delicious. We go in about once a week. Gyro salad is my fave. Hubby always gets gyro shwarma platter. Hummus and dolmas are divine. We love this place. It is a good place for kids ( good kids menu and booths). Food lovingly made takes a little extra time, but it is so worth it!

We came here for my daughter's birthday. Well it turned out to be a BD treat for her and her brother since his birthday is just 4 days after hers, but it was ON her birthday, Since she took her floating holiday off for her birthday, we weren't in a rush for time. I have never been disappointed here. This was the first time I have tried their baklava and it was definitely love at first bite.

Worst place ever. How this place even has one star is surprising. The chicken was so dry and hard we couldn't choke it down The entire dish (mixed grill) was tasteless. My husband is in gastro pain. Waste of time and money.

The chicken gyro with hummus instead of the mustard sauce is the way to go! The hummus appetizer is also really good. You can also request fresh vegetables instead of having the pita bread if you want.

Got the lamb & beef gyros, greek salad, calamari, and some desserts. The food was cheap and tasty. There was only one waitress working during lunch and the servicewas very slow (she forgot to bring water, extra set of utensils, etc). I didn't like that they used iceberg lettuce in their food.. Otherwise this place is cheap & tasty. Large variety of desserts.

I'm no fan of gyros, but they have plenty of them, and how. They sure smell good. The dinner selection is what I usually order from. They have a pretty wonderful lamb curry for $10 that will blow your socks off. So strap them on tight. The lamb okra is also phenomenal. At tasting good. The salads aren't much, very basic, and there's nothing too interesting in the beverage department, either, but it's a nice little place to eat lunch with a friend. Also, there was a really pretty girl waiting tables there a while back. I like seeing her!

My BF and I come here every few months. He likes it way more than I do. They could definitely use a makeover, I'm a sucker for pretty restaurants. The food is always hot and fresh. They are always friendly. And the deserts are always amazing!

I am a very visual person and the store needs a face lift. Some new paint and new tables and I would have been more comfortable. Also A menu update: No hand writing in of changes and replace the worn out tattered covers. Another distraction always is the amount of crap i.e... papers business cards from other companies, old newspapers and Lions Candies at the front counter. I understand wanting to help other small business and organizations that support you but please put them off into a corner by the restroom not at the cash counter. So now onto the wonderful food! The falafel's were yummy the lamb moist and spiced nicely, bit too much rice on my Number11for me. The spanakopita was crispy and flavorful the dolmades were not the freshest, I think from a jar but still better than some I have tasted. The price was just right for these tight times. All in all I think I will be returning for a few more of their dishes in the future.

The first time we ate here, it was great and I was very impressed! The second time, okay. It's just gotten progressively worse (the food and service) and 2 nights ago, was the worst ever. Our waitress got our order wrong more than once. We waited half an hour for our food. We still didn't get what we ordered. I was very polite to them, but did not receive the same courtesy. What a disappointment. I really had high hopes that this would be our go-to restaurant. We won't ever go back.

The kids meal Chicken stripes & fries? Is a 'chicken patty' cut into strips. Either way my wii1 was pretty disappointed & only took 1 bite of the patty. I still love this place, but don't order the chicken stripes kids meal.

So at first I was hesitant considering the other Yelp reviews, but I've always been the kind of person to check things out and form my own opinion! No regrets... quick friendly service, the place was pretty crowded even though it was after lunch...like 2ish. My son and I ordered the beef/lamb gyro since that's what we were craving. It was delish! Fresh bread, meat sliced and cooked to perfection, fresh veggies: tomatoes, onions and romaine lettuce, and of course the sauce...yum.... the combo meal came with a 16oz drink and crinkle fries! All for 6 bucks! I'm sure glad we discovered a great Mediterranean spot in Lacey. Now to try the other stuff!

I had a craving for some gyro meat and rice, so I got the platter #11 on the menu. It came with gyro meat mixed with peppers and onions on top of rice, a pair of the grape leaf wrap things, Spanakopita, a crunchy fried green veggie disc shaped thingy. I have no idea how to spell or pronounce the food, but I enjoy the eating. Everything had great flavor, the meat was great, and the Spanakopita was superb. I liked the grape leaf wraps, they had good flavor and weren't very slimy, I've had some slimy ones that I didn't like in Europe. Overall a very pleasant meal, and then I got the chocolate cashew baclava, that was also excellent. I will be going back there often and update this review as I try more of their food. I really want to try the standard gyro sandwich next time.

The food was good, but the service wasn't so much. We asked for something that we never received but then was on our bill when we went up to pay. Our waitress barely came by to see how we were doing or ask us for anything. The food was good enough that I would definitely go back despite the less than stellar service!

Safura's serves the same brand of surprisingly tasty frozen gyro meat, pitas, and falafel and canned dolmas as a million other fast food gyro joints, and at close to the same low prices. You might think they were fast food. But! They are definitely not fast food. Nuh uh. No sirree. They will prove they are not fast food. With a passive aggressive sign! If you read it on a sign, it MUST be true. And this sign says they are not fast food and not to complain if you have to wait a while. Also, if you needed more very scientific evidence that Safura's is definitely not fast food, sometimes you will randomly have to wait 50 minutes for your food. Ha! Science! Proving stuff! On the other hand, they have a nice selection of honey, date, filo, and nut pastries. I don't know if they are Science Pastries, but they *are* delicious.

Safura's is so good. I love the mixed grill plate and the dolmathes. The feta and olives appetizer should not be missed. The proprietors are pleasant. Don't miss it unless you are in a hurry.

My husband and I are still wondering how we did not know about Safura's until now. Since we discovered this little gem, we've become return customers. The food is delicious and we were impressed with the inexpensive prices. Each time we have ordered the schwarma platter - everything is great! Try the desserts too (we've tried them all...guilty!).

  • Nicole G.

If you don't mind waiting (it's usually different every time, sometimes 10 minutes, sometimes 20 minutes) for your food to come out then you will enjoy Safura's. They staff is nice, and they aren't bothering you every 5 minutes. This annoys some people but if you like to eat and chat in peace then you will be happy. I very much enjoy their food and the service but I can see how others would be bothered by the service. If that is the case you should try calling in an order for pick up!

What's not to like? Meat on a rotating metal spike, excellent gyros made with fresh ingredients, family run operation, good prices? I had a gyro, and for 5 bucks you got an appropriately sized (some might find it a bit small) sandwich filled with fresh toppings, authentic in every way. Well, it's not authentic in the European grungy-dirty-sketchy-by-the-train-station way, but that's a good thing. The owners take pride in what they have here, and it shows. Great for getting your gyro fix in the Oly-Lacey area.

Excellent food, great value. I trusted my fellow Yelpers and excited to experience my first Mediterranean meal. I asked the teenage waitress for a recommendation and bases on her response, chose the value meal. For under $10 I got a beef and lamp gyro so full of meat I save half for the next days lunch. It was delicious and satisfying. It was served with fries topped with feta, sea salt and oregano and a drink. Im sure I'll fin my next order of fries lacking in comparison to tho delicious treat. The business is family run and I had a delightful conversation with the young waitress and her grandmother. It's nice to support a local independent business, especially when I get a great meal in exchange!!!

Our first trip to Safura's was such a disappointment I really don't think we will be going back. The gyro meat was really dry and crunchy, the bottom of the moussaka was so burnt that it was unidentifiable ..maybe it was meat maybe it was vegetable? I would have only given one star but the service was pretty good. The waitress was attentive and some guy (the owner maybe?) kept checking on us. Maybe someday we'll give Safura's another shot but probably not anytime soon.

  • Evan G.

Aside from the late night gyro stand downtown, Safura's is the only Mediterranean place in the area. Even though it's the only one, I don't feel like I'm settling when I need my falafel fix. The gyros are savory. Oooh, and the baklava and namoura (Lebanese honey cakes) make a perfectly light and sweet dessert. Get some Batdorf & Bronson coffee while you're at it!

  • Amina M.

As close as it gets to legit middle eastern food in WA without having to go to Seattle. I went to this place a lot after getting my wisdom teeth pulled and needing some soft food to eat. The gyros are awesome, as is their tzatziki sauce. If I wasn't in town for such a short period of time, I may have ventured to the crunchier parts of the menu. The Greek salad was pretty good too. Service is friendly.

  • Leanne F.

The food at Safura's isn't fancy, but it is good! I've tried many things on the menu, and have yet to be disappointed. If you're not sure what to order, a gyro is a no brainer-the beef/lamb is perfectly cooked, the pita and veggies fresh, and I could eat their tzaziki by the spoonful. Don't forget a dessert (I'm usually so full from my meal that I take it home with me)-the baklava is my favorite, with the elephant fingers running a close second. The prices are also very reasonable, particularly when you factor in the quality of their ingredients. In addition to the great food at Safura's is the great service-very friendly and attentive, and we never have to wait long. Though we're not frequent customers, the owner always remembers our family (she always comments on how big my sons are getting, and asks their ages). And while many people may not notice, it is spotlessly clean in there-maybe because Safura's (unlike some other local restaurants that shall remain nameless) seems to always be sufficiently staffed. I wish every restaurant in Olympia approached their menu and service the same way that Safura's does-instead of trying to impress their diners with culinary innovation, they give them simple food that's done very well, and service that is gracious and sincere. Now that I think about it, I should really eat there more often-and now that I've written this, I'm really craving baklava...

Surprised to find this place - thanks, Yelp! The food arrived quickly (hummus appetizer, gyro platter, gyro sandwich) and was warm and delicious! We had our six-month old with us and appreciated the quick, non-intrusive service. The food was really, really good. Pitas were soft and warm, with a little bit of crisp on one side where they'd been on the grill. Yum. My gyro sandwich was warm, fresh and very flavorful, with enough tzatziki to help mix everything together but not so much that it was messy or overpowering. Their gyro meat was a tasty combo of beef and lamb. We were there right as they were starting to close so I appreciated seeing what a thorough job they were doing of spraying and wiping down booths, scouring the kitchen and generally cleaning up. Definitely recommend this place - we'll be back soon.

We shared a Gyro and a combo dinner and were completely full and satisfied. Very fresh food, the spanakopita and dolmades were extremely authentic. Service was good. This is a great little casual dinner type place and a great choice if you want a little Greek in your life!

This is the perfect place to get your Mediterranean fix in the Lacey area. I have been coming here regularly since they opened, and the quality has never wavered for a second. They still put a lot of care into everything they prepare, and it is usually the same people preparing your food every time. I assume they are also the owners. The prices are very fair and have not gone up a penny since they opened a number of years ago. I won't list all the dishes that I've had (it would be a lot), but I can say that every one is something I would order again with one single exception. The curry dish I tried was a bit too salty. The atmosphere is rather strip-mallish, but pleasant, and the service is always good. You can't go wrong here.

I tried this place a while back, not long after it opened. The meat was dry and it took forever to get my food. I have stayed away since, but decided to give them another try as a couple of friends had said good things about them. I ordered a chicken gyro platter with extra meat. I got a small bit of iceberg lettuce with a couple of small tomato slices, red cabbage, a small piece of red onion, a slice of cucumber, and grated carrots with hardly any dressing. It was not like any Greek salad I've ever had before (and not in a good way). The meat was about 10 thin slices of chicken. I asked the waitress if that was the "extra" meat and she assured me that it was. The tzatziki was quite tasty, although it was very thick as if it was made with sour cream instead of yogurt. I realized it wasn't just me when the three elderly ladies that came in after me and sat at the next table made a special request for them not to make the meat "tough". When the waitress asked how everything was, I limited my comments to a description of the meat and she apologized, but then told me I should complain to the chef. I would expect that to be her job. I gave it 2 stars because at least the waitress seemed concerned, and it was cheap. Dinner and a glass of lemonade for under 12 bucks. Personally, I would rather spend 20 and get a good meal, but if you want some cheap "greek" food, this is your place. 2 strikes is enough for me. I won't be back. Ever.

I will start out with the good. The food was fine and a good price. I got a beef/lamb gyro, fries, and a drink for $7. Wasn't the best gyro I'd ever had but for the price it was good and if this was the only determinant I would go back again. Yet the service was horrendous and for the first time that I can remember I didn't even leave the waitress a tip. Issue #1: Once being sat and given menus by our waitress, it took her forever to come back to us and take our drink orders along with our food order. Issue #2: I was eating with a friend and his order, a gyro platter, came out in a reasonable amount of time yet my order did not come out till he was almost done with his food. Issue #3: After receiving our food, the waitress never came back for the remainder of the time we were there to check on us or refill our drinks. Our drinks were almost empty when they brought my meal and could have just asked us if we wanted a refill then yet they didn't. Since this was our first time eating there we weren't sure what to do in terms of paying the bill, in terms of whether you paid at your table or up at the register. After 5-10 minutes of sitting after we were both done with our meals and waiting for the waitress to come back by, we eventually just took it upon ourselves to go up to the register. And another item I take into consideration is the fact that they don't take American Express. While I know the whole argument over the increased percentage that AmEx charges businesses, as the consumer I empathize but don't sympathize as AmEx offers me the best perks. Therefore this is a factor when deciding where to eat out. So I probably will not be returning to this establishment. There are plenty of other places that have good food and value but that treat their customers better.

  • Kirun M.

I really really want to give this place 2 stars because they charged me extra for tzatziki (fine, i can make my peace with that) but they also charged for HOT SAUCE! excuse me? what? are you serious? that's like charging for wasabi at a sushi place...it's criminal. I didn't even use it because it wasn't the kind I was expecting. Anyhow, the food was pretty good, but I'm not sure I'll be back.

Been here once with my girlfriend close to closing time. We were the only patrons. Service was speedy and attentive. I ordered the Super Gyro (?). Not sure of the name but it was just a big-ass gyro. I liked how big it was. My girlfriend ordered the regular gyro. We also ordered a small Tabouleh salad. To drink, we split a fresh mango juice which I managed to spill completely when getting up from the table. The staff was so courteous. I helped them clean up the mess but not once did they look dismayed or irritated. The gyros were good. I am really picky about my gyro meat having lived in Europe and South Asia for most of my life. The meat was tasty but a little too thick not tender and fatty enough for my liking. All in all, everything including the salad tasted good and we will definitely return. They have a huge selection of desserts. We picked this one cashew and chocolate baklava-esque roll. It was absolutely heavenly and that alone is worth the trip back to Safura's. Keep up the great food!

Excellent food, excellent value for the dollar. My wife had the gyro platter, and I had the gyro value meal (gyro, drink and fries). Both were excellent. Bought a bunch of pastries to take home from dessert, all of which were excellent. The pistachio baklava (instead of walnut) was a wonderful find, since I do not like walnuts.

Sadly, Safura's strikes out again, serving me overcooked, dried-out pieces of kofta kabob. I want to like the place -- the service is good, it's family-run, but $9 (pre-tip) for a small amount of dry meat on top of rice with some grilled onion isn't worth a return trip for me.

YUM! I loooove Safura! Their gyro wraps are incredibly delicious. The meat is so fresh and has that yummy, spit-roasted crisp on one side. Their greek salad is equally delicious and their hummus is absolutely wonderful! I haven't branched out much from the gyro wrap because it is just that tasty. They serve generous portions at a relatively low price. It is a very casual, family run place. All in all a fantastic little find!

I have been here many times. The food is good and home made. You will wait a while for the grub but I think it is worth it. The service is very good, but sometimes slow because they do cook to order. They have a sign when you walk in that states this. The one downfall is the beef they use is very tough. They need to put some thought into what they are buying. I love the baklava here it is delish. I would say try it out and see what you think.

Food - Gyros, baklava, and falafel, basmati rice, hummus and pita are better than average. The Shawarma was tasty, if a little dry. I've lived in the middle east for 6 years and I'm always looking for a great place where the food tastes authentic, this place almost gets it. Service could have been more attentive, all 3 times I've been I've had to ask for the server to refill my drink.

Good solid gyros and dolmas. Nothing special but nothing bad either. Worth the money.

A bit of staff turnover - sometimes fine for lunch - sometimes very slow for a lunch break.

Love this place! It's delicious and amazing! Their basic Gyro is awesome and it's only $5.95!!!! One of my favorite adventures around the Olympia area! I've asked the owners about their pricing and I was told that they want to make great quality food affordable to everyone! Isn't that great? :D And Safura's also offers an AMAZING selection of pastries!

Thank you thank you thank you to the friends who recommended Safura's to us. The food is phenomenal. We had the Supreme Hummus (not on the menu) which is hummus with olive oil toasted pine nuts, sauteed onions and peppers and gyro meat on top. For four adults and two toddlers we ordered the 1/2 portion with three pita, and there was still some on the plate, the 1/2 portion is big. I ordered the Gyro sandwich combo ($7.95) which came with a side of fries and a drink. The sandwich was amazing. The spit roasted meat was so flavorful and tender (a combo of beef and lamb) and the pita and tzatziki was fresh and so good I was digging in the sandwich for extra for my fries. The sandwich was large and overflowing with meat. It is a wonderful family owned and run restaurant and we will definitely be back. Our friends love it because it is one of the few places that serves halal certified meat. I think if I had to go there and eat vegetarian I might cry, the meat was that tasty. My husband had the souvlaki (lamb, $8.95) and it was so tender it could be cut with a fork, served on top of perfectly cooked fluffy rice. A fabulous find, decent prices, and the desserts looked just as yummy, but we were so full we didn't try any of them. Worth a visit for sure.
