This place is excellent. If you like dumplings at all, you will love this place. I have no idea what anyone could have possibly had to say negative about this place, I just cannot understand. I could eat here every day forever.

I read all the negative reviews for validation... I thought, "it couldn't have been that bad?" Apparently a lot of people agree with me, it was that bad. The confusing menu, the bland and tasteless food (items not available), and the awkwardly rude waiter/owner made the experience worth yelping about. I've been to DTF in Bellevue many many many times, and decided to give Yangs a shot. Bottom line is that this place is expensive and the service is weird (guy made us feel strange about where we placed things on the table!). I won't be back. But, I will keep dropping hundreds over at DTF! Now that is truly "yummy."

Ok I can't stop raving about the boiled pork dumplings. Sooo yummy and they are hand made. Service was good although they don't speak much English, but as long as they don't get my order wrong I'm ok with it. And they did a good job of explaining the difference between the types of dumplings. They have a parking lot but it's part of s strip mall & you may accidentally get stuck in the line up for the drive-through coffee place while trying to leave your parking space. Anyways this place really does have fantastic food!

Like everyone else mentioned, this is a family style restaurant. The dumpling is homemade, so no fancy look or ingredient. Just simple dumpling with fresh ingredients and light seasoning. Think about your homemade food- this is what this restaurant is about. The staffs like to chat with mandarin ( with different accent, funny to listen actually), you can hear the water boiling in the pot, fans is running on the back, chopping food on the chopping board etc. reminds me about Christmas and I could hear grandma was chopping the vegetables to prepare dinner. Long story short, the food is decent. The pork dumpling with cabbage is fresh, when you dip it into black vinegar sauce ( the yellow bottle) it taste very, gourmet. The dumpling is only $8.99, and I got 15 pieces :) the dry tofu seaweed with jalapeño is decent too. For $3.99, they give you very generous portion. I didn't have much space left to try out the buns and noodle, maybe next time.

Clean nice place! Super yummy dumplings and buns. Alex and I were waiting for them open by 11:00 am and ordered 8 steamed buns and 15 boiled yummy dumplings! So yum! Nice waiter and he gave us good suggestion on the right amount of food we should order. I have been eating frozen dumplings for almost 2 years since I couldn't locate any nice dumpling house like this one !!! Strongly recommend, best dumpling house ever ~~

In my one dining experience here, I don't think I was impressed enough to want to come back for the dumplings. I was here for dinner by myself, and a whole plate of dumplings seemed excessive for a single person. Instead, I ordered a beef and broccoli noodle soup for $8.99. I appreciate how they started making it only after I had ordered it. I also like how their noodles were homemade, but the dish itself was nothing special. It consisted of nothing other than the simple ingredients in its name, and overall it was pretty bland. For noodle soup at this price, I might as well be getting pho at another restaurant.

Like eating in a Chinese family's home. The dumplings really have a homemade precision to them (they're not precise) but they are generous in size and you can taste the love put into each dumpling. It's nice to rotate this with Dough Zone/Din Tai Fung for a full Eastside dumpling experience. if you're not chinese, you will get little Halloween chocolates at the end of the meal.

I like this place. Alot. Sure there isn't any service concept here or even a drink menu, but who cares. This food is handcrafted to order. And it all takes time even with just two tables occupied on a Tuesday night. Bring good friends and catch up on life while waiting for some great tasting and inexpensive cuisine. And calm down, eastside Yelpers, you are driving restaurants crazy with your silliness every night. I see it all the time.

My Dad and I came here over the weekend and really enjoyed the experience. We came in for a late lunch/early dinner and were 2 of 3 people in there. The owners didn't seem to speak a ton of English but were very friendly. We weren't sure if we were supposed to go up and order or sit down - but since it wasn't busy at all, the guy came over to us so that we could place our orders. My Dad had the wonton soup, and I had the juicy pork dumplings. The wonton soup, first of all, was HOT (temperature-wise.) I know that Chinese food in generally is usually impressively hot - but to give you an idea, 30 minutes after we started eating, there was steam still coming out of the soup. He thought it was good but said it needed more salt - the dumplings were really slippery and he needed a fork. I really liked the juicy pork dumplings but have to agree with everyone when they say that there was no soup in them. They were incredibly fresh and handmade - it actually took a little while for the food to come out because I watched 3 people sit and roll out the dough. (It makes me wonder if when they are busy, how they manage to keep up.) I think that there were maybe 10 or 12 that came in my order - and it was definitely enough to get me stuffed. The only reason why I'm taking away a star is because the bathroom was pretty icky...and there was no toilet paper.

The only positive thing I could possibly say, is that the service was decent. The "juicy" buns had absolutely no juice in them. In fact, every single one had a hole in the bottom of it. Probably because they serve them on a faux steamer, which is really just a metal plate. When we asked our server why this was, he just laughed and walled away. For the price and quality, you can do MUCH better by simply traveling another two miles and going to Dough Zone. Save your money, and don't eat here

Food was ok but prices were too high. I have had better for less cost.

This is an awesome place for dumplings! They hand-make their dumplings as you order. There is a little wait after you order, but I don't mind waiting for "freshly" hand-made dumplings. Just make sure you order lots! We went as a group of 4 & we ordered 8 dishes. Altho the waiter said that's too much he doesn't know us... we are foodies & we finished every single piece! Altho it is advertised as a cash only place, but they do take cards. They don't have to pay a service fee if you pay cash We've tried their dumplings & noodle soups. I prefer the dumplings. The noodle soups have good broth, but you don't get much meats. Mine had 3-4 thinly sliced meats. Overall their dumplings are the best!

I like this place a lot. Nice people and friendly service. I strongly recommend their steamed pork buns which is hand made as you order and you have to wait a while. Lots of people complain it's less juicy but it supposed to be not juicy. The pastry and filling between Steam pork bun and Xiao long Bao are different. Their pork bun taste very authentic to me and I love it!

The taste of the dumpling is great. Good environment and quiet. Generous portion for the price.

Service is non-existent, 4 people that work there all with cold faces, take order and drop off the food, you on your own. This place is small with kitchen and dinning area all in one room with no real divider. Feeling like you are sitting/eating next to their kitchen/dish-washing station. 45 mins that we were there, loud quarrel sound, pots/pans/dishes loud dropping sound next to your ears every 5 mins. Really ?? We are really paying to eat here ? I saw the cook behind the counter in the kitchen chopping chicken on the chopping block on the floor! Yuck!!! Where is the Health Department when you need them? I would suggest on passing this place up, I rather wait for a while at Ding Tai Fong for a true authentic cuisine. As to the taste of the food, the price is as high as Ding Tai Fong, but the taste is very poor with all very THICK skin on the dumpling, that's probably why we are the second customer at noon. I would never come back even it's free !!

    (1)
  • Lloyd C.

Service is average, only one guy that runs the front of the table and simply being pulled from all directions. The images on the wall are totally different from the real dishes. Beef noodle soup had 4 slices of thin beef, and the broth are with hardly any seasoning, with tons of noodles which seemed frozen and not hand made. The noodle soup was $9, ain't worth the time and money. Be ware, its cash only. I would suggest on passing this place up, I rather wait for a while at Ding Tai Fong for a true authentic cuisine.

  • Niko W.

I would never go back to this place!!! Not even if you paid me! They rape you with there prices!! Bad service, bad food, lots lots Loud noises from their kitchen and right next to your ears !! it's like where the F am I ? Save your money and go somewhere worth while this little shop will definitely end up closing it's doors soon enough once state board finds them! Only reason I even left a star was because I had to, to be able to post my review.

My wife and I move to the area and wanted to try this place, what a total let down. It's kinda loud because the cook is right there. the food and pricing wasn't that good.

Honestly I would not recommend this dumpling house to anyone. Reasons: -Dumplings are pricey, $9.99+ per dish -Xiao Long Bao has NO SOUP inside of them! -Boiled Dumplings were very watery and flavorless -They have a sign that they only take cash but actually do take credit card and when they do they give you a weird look -Service is non-existent, when they bring out your food they wait for you to clear the table to put stuff down For the spicy cold beef dish & 2 dumpling dishes the bill came out to $35.

FYI: CASH ONLY. They should have a sign on the door, just so you're aware, but the only signage is at the register. Luckily my husband remembered from their last spot, otherwise I would've walked in without cash. My husband and I used to go to Yang's when it was in Bellevue. We just happened upon it one day. If you've been there, you know how small that shop was. Barely any seating. This new location is great. It's much bigger and spacious. We came here today after I told my husband about the new spot. It was Sunday afternoon and it was pretty much empty when we arrived. Food - We got one order of the steamed Yummy dumplings. It comes with 16 dumplings. Came out pretty quickly. They're pretty tasty, nothing to write home about, but we love that they're fresh and homemade. I read another review that said they all kind of taste the same and I agree. I have yet to try the noodle dishes, but will soon. We also ordered a salad. I just assumed it would be a "regular" salad, like lettuce, but it was a seaweed salad. There was a seaweed salad on the menu as well, so I don't know if there are different seaweed salads or they just got my order wrong. I have no idea, but it was good. Sweet and spicy with a little bit of tofu. Our server was efficient, not the friendliest, but attentive and helpful. Everyone working there was wearing a mask. On the one hand there won't be any spreading of germs, on the other hand it just looked odd. No other restaurants I've been to wears masks and I've never gotten sick, hopefully I haven't given anyone else anything either. ?

I'm from north China , their steam buns taste same as how it tastes in China! We drove up from Renton, all worth it! Love their food!

I didn't realize that these are the same folks from the formerly Bellevue location. I ate in Bellevue many years ago and as far as I can tell they have gotten much better. For me this is very homestyle, if your family is from Taiwan. The #1 pork soup buns are not soupy at all, just moist. If you are expecting Din Tai Fung xia long bao, you will be very disappointed though it is half the price here. If you appreciate good homestyle dumplings, you will probably be pleased. As others mentioned, dumplings are made to order and there are only 2 guys in the shop so my order took maybe 15 minutes. The cash only sign was still up when I went for lunch today.

I was skeptical after reading all of the reviews of the white people complaining about service not being fast, or the soup tasting like feet? How do YOU know what dumpling houses taste like in china? Come on now. I walked in and was immediately greeted by the server and was sat at a table. First off, THE FOOD IS MADE TO ORDER. (Even the dumplings) They are not assembly-lined like Din Tai Fung so the two workers there have to work hard to make and serve. The wait is a bit longer than usual restaurants but there is a reason for it. (Steaming and hand crafting dumplings isn't quick) The server didn't speak English very well but understood everything I said and was genuinely happy to serve me. I got the pork steamed dumplings and chicken soup. Everything was simple and tasty. The dumplings were very juicy and the outsides were thick and filling. Afterwards I left a decent tip and the man behind the register gave me a free coke! Will be coming back again. Seemed very authentic (but who knows I'm just a fellow ignorant half white guy)

Yang's oh Yang's! This restaurant is beyond delicious! I was introduced to this restaurant by my girlfriend and her brother. When we arrived, the staff was EXTREMELY sweet and kind with their greeting. We ordered specials #1 Soup Buns, #2 Pork Buns, and #7 Beef Noodle Soup. I've been here about a dozen times now and I've never been disappointed. They also have a chili flake, sesame seed oil that is just delicious. Simple and easy flavors but extremely delicious. The wait to get your food does take a bit but I don't mind it. If you're wanting to a restaurant like Din Tai Fung, with all of its flares, this won't be the restaurant experience for you but the food won't let you down. Definitely give this place a try!

  • Dan P.

The dumplings are good but everything is a little more greasy than I like. The portions are nice and the price is good. Parking is also great and there's usually no wait. The guy who runs the place is quick and efficient. Overall, I'll be back.

First off, the names are soooo off and the menu spelling is a joke. Ordered three things here. The "Yummy dumplings", "Soup dumplings" and "Pork Dumplings--XiaoLongBao". Being Chinese and speaking Mandarin I can tell you that the "Dumplings Dumplings" (Pork and Chives Steamed dumplings?) are very Northern Chinese and authentic. The wrap is handmade and chewy. However everything else was just weird. The soup dumplings had ZERO soup. It didn't even look like soup could exist. The taste of the meat was alright but no soup. Also, to be honest, I have never seen that kind of dumpling. The XiaoLongBao is retarded. I'm sorry. I'm a shanghai girl and those are NOT XiaoLongBao. Those are buns. They are tasty, but they are buns. They are delicious, but they are buns. Also no drinks of any kind? Excuse me, but don't you want to make money? Also, 15 dumplings for 8.99? What makes you think you can charge that premium in a strip mall? #Protip1: Only go for the Dumpling Dumplings aka JiaoZi. #Protip2: Cash Only.

Spicy cold beef: awesome! Dumplings: all Amazing like homemade! Sauces are excellent, so watch for the chef specials on the menu. Very authentic. I am a fan of Din Tai Fung and the dumplings here are honestly much better. They even cook them traditionally. The soup dumplings may break so eat carefully but don't be afraid to mix up the table sauces for a dip. This place deserves more business so give it a try.

Great to have authentic handmade Chinese dumplings in Kirkland. The menu is pretty short but has buns, dumplings, soup and a salad. Fun experience and the employees are very friendly. Had the pork and cabbage dumplings and will start working my way through the menu.

Amazing Pork Dumplings!! We ordered another round after crushing the first order. Extremely friendly staff also, full of smiles

  • Riss J.

Two visits down. Ready for more. If you are stopping in here expecting a quick meal on your time schedule or a short lunch break WALK AWAY RIGHT NOW. Can you not see them HAND MAKING EVERY ORDER??? TEA: served before it's steeped. PATIENCE. Service: Not a rude teenager, a cultural difference. He was very respectful and proper. Nothing here is bad at all. Some I like better than others and some places give different flavor and I like some better than here. I do really like the overall mood all this make, because it's showed down, take a break, RELAX lunchtime. But man, by these reviews--barely a month into their opening up shop-Rose Hill clearly wasn't ready for this jelly.

Good things come to those who wait. In this case, those good things are delicious pork buns! I was sad when the old location closed, but the new location is closer to me and much nicer inside. I think the buns are the best. Dumplings are fine, but you can get similar quality elsewhere. Seaweed salad is a generous portion and tastes good. Cash only.

  • Kara S.

I was a huge fan of them in their old location, and was thrilled on my recent visit to Seattle to see that they had reopened. I still am in love with their pork buns, though they were notably less juicy (in a soup bun sorta way) than before. Despite that, they are still 5 star worthy and delicious in their simplicity. The chef/owner adorably (still) gives us mini candy bars on our way out, just like when I lived here and was a regular. So utterly, adorably charming.

  • Angel Y.

Very friendly people and fast service. I like the chicken noodle a lot! They especially told me I ordered too much when I started with 3 dishes. So nice! The food is really authentic, give it a try!

  • Chloe W.

Low quality Chinese food that should be on the bottom of the list of the fantastic dumpling places in Bellevue/Kirkland. The juicy dumpling had only a drop of soup and had holes in it prior to being served. The meat in the dumplings were salty and had no taste other than salt. The pork dumpling's skin was like the potstickers in frozen foods. It took forever for even our appetizer to get out. Wouldn't reccomend at all.

  • Stuart M.

I find Yang's to be a very pleasant, personal alternative to Din Tai Fung. This is a small, family run shop that makes everything to order. That means 10-15 minutes to get your dumplings. I think that is perfectly acceptable when you are getting handmade to order dumplings. The man in charge speaks very little English, but we've always been able to communicate. The key is his overwhelming urge to please. He is so friendly and accommodating that I am always happy I came back.

    (5)
  • Lisa N.

This place is just as good as Din Tai Fung, but easier, cheaper, and had better service! It appears to be run by a husband and wife couple who were incredibly nice. They even brought us samples of some new dumplings they were trying! Located in a strip mall, it's a pleasant surprise. I'll definitely be back!

Confession - I ate a LOT at the Bellevue location - super dingy strip mall that got torn down. Ruined my world as it was 2 blocks away from my house and it was my goto for dinner when spousal unit did not want to cook. Have not eaten here yet as I just found out he restarted. But what the heck, I am going to pre-review it. Super value for what you get. Definitely not super delicate; but man oh so good and the chef is super nice was he sees you as a repeat customer. And yeah, it is going to be slow at times. as Riss J. said, HAND MADE. I mean seriously. wow. chill people. if you want mass produced food, head to MCD or the BK. And no, this is not a dim sum place per se. Don't go for BBQ pork buns. I do wish he spoke more English. Not because of service but so I could tell him how much I love his food.

Dumplings were great and the hot oil was really good.

  • Camille C.

Reviews are spot on. Delicious, handmade dumplings (that are NOT like din tai fung, but spectacular in there own fashion), in a very simple ambience served by a very friendly group of gentlemen (English is the second language), That come out at a very slow pace (because they are hand making your dumpling to order). Know these things, and you will love there very unique dumplings.

The boss's attitude is really bad, so mean! I won't come to this place any more!!! It shows "Cash Only" in the cashier, and I was checking my wallet to see if I have enough cash. Then the the boss said they can accept credit card, so I changed to pay by card. I feel it's strange, so asked the boss why? he replied the cash can have some discount, then I asked him how many discounts? and he said won't tell me this time, will tell me next time as I pay cash. As the food is ready to go, the boss asked if we need the dip, I said yes. The the boss replied:"I know of course you need, I can feel you are so stingy based on the question you just asked on paying cash or credit, you must be the person who use all the service the restaurant served." I was shocked and can't say any word! I never met this kind of situation before, feel so humiliate! I didn't say anything since I really don't know how to handle this situation, but I won't go anymore and will tell all my friends won't go!

The five star rating are for their dumplings, excluding the soup dumplings. I'm originally from New York and this is the best place for dumplings I've tried in the area so far. Just be warned their is a little bit of a wait since they make your order, but so worth it. Almost as good as my grandma's back home!

I've had their soups, yummy dumplings, pork buns, and seaweed salad. Always fresh and made to order (like eating out is supposed to be). Friendly and awesome customer service.

I love this place! Good portions for affordable price. I've brought a few friends here who weren't familiar with dumplings or buns, and they've all really enjoyed it. I highly recommend the fried or steamed buns!

Sadly, I add my meh to the yelping. I enter the nearly empty spot about 11:15 long before the lunch press, but of course I am waved to a two top in the middle of room rather than a more cozy and totally available 4top along the wall. When I politely object, I am grudgingly given the empty table of my choice. With the water and menu, I realize that today, waiter and cook will be the same. That may be challenging but resolute am I. So I order the wonton soup. The menu describes this as pork and shrimp in broth. The picture on the wall shows a few veggies and wonton in broth. When it arrives, I'm so underwhelmed. Seven (but they are large) wonton, broth and cilantro. Pretty one note and unexpected. Very very very boring flat broth. I worked my way through by using lots of chili and soy. Disappointing. .

Call 10 minutes ahead if you know what you want from the menu!!! Consistently delicious food. I like the chicken salad, and the soup bun. Nom!! Yang is super friendly, just be friendly back--it's fun! I do have cravings for this place multiple times per year, and usually I make it happen.

I'm ethnically Chinese and speak Mandarin. This means that I'm able to overcome quite a few culture shocks and language barriers at Yang's. The dumplings are handmade and fresh. Have to give it to them, they do things the right way. So what if sometimes you need to wait a little longer? This ain't fast food. This ain't microwaved dishes. This is like going home for a reunion meal and making food by hand to share with family. Don't come in looking for an in-and-out experience. I'm sure everyone is busy, but take some time to relish delish-ness. The owner operates the place and is very friendly. I've only been there once, but friends of mine are regulars. The owner is a good, honest guy. I can't stress this enough -- too many people are profiteers when it comes to opening restaurants, and I'll be the first to admit that this owner isn't the most business-savvy restauranteur on the planet, but again, take some time to slow down and be surprised by how good food can taste when you see past the sometimes-superficial veils of "service" and "ambience". This isn't a restaurant. It's a dumpling house. It's a house. The owner runs it like he was making food for friends and family (perhaps that's one reason why some people get preferential treatment, and I'd tell him off for that because that isn't the best thing to do when running a business). Come invite yourself and have a seat. Have some tea, and lower your rigid expectations of a dining-out experience. Make a friend or two. Enjoy the painstakingly handmade good food. Perhaps you'll realize that you've been taking the efficient-and-mechanical industrial cooking school of thought for granted, and food began as a familial experience, to be shared over conversations and laughter. Note: Despite the sign at the register, they do take credit cards, but they are, again, not very business-savvy, and might be slow with the register, so they'd prefer cash.

Okay so I did not check the times online and walked in after they were closed and they are so nice they are so accommodating that they let me order to go anyway! That is SERVICE! Wow!!! I can tell by the aromas that the food will be GOOD

Their menu was very small and it couldn't have had more than 12 food choices to choose from. Their Beef Noodle Soup was decent. Their Pork Soup Dumplings arrived at our table soup-less. I suspected the soup in each dumpling had leaked out while they were being steamed. Could this be because the dumplings weren't made fresh? The taste was so-so. My glass of water tasted like powdered dish detergent. This makes me wonder if their tea also contained small traces of detergent covered up by the taste of tea. My sister saw the cook behind the counter in the kitchen chopping chicken on the chopping block on the floor! Yuck!!! Must have ran out of counter space from all the clutter in the kitchen. Where is the Health Department when you need them? Cash only always makes for an interesting audit and the service was mediocre. The workers clearly treated their caucasian and Taiwanese customer with a more attention and smiles than everyone else. It felt weird being there. I definitely don't think they're worth the drive from Seattle again. I should have went to Dough Zone instead.

I've had good Chinese food and I've had bad Chinese food...and then there's Yang's Dumpling House. Where do I begin. Having seen only one car in the parking lot should have tipped us off that this dinner is going to be a disaster. Tried to order in English but something was lost in translation so I don't think we really got what we ordered. Then saw the sign that says "Cash Only"...and no bank anywhere near this place. The soup came out and I kid you not, it tasted like someone washed their feet with the broth, then drop the wonton in it. Then we got the "yummy" dumplings....I would use the word yummy very loosely. The pork buns were sad looking and the taste matched it. We had Taco Time after this dinner.

First off: Don't come here if you're in a rush. This is a small, family-run business and they are making everything fresh. So it's definitely not fast food. That said though, I don't feel that it took as long as a lot of other reviewers said. I was here during lunch time, and ordered the XLB. While I have had better in the area, they were reasonably priced, and good. The owner could tell that I was white, and not very talented with the chop sticks, so he brought me a fork. Although, XLB are still easier to eat with chop sticks, even when you're a dumb white girl. Small, concise menu. Good addition to Kirkland. I'd definitely go back if I was in the area again.

Went a few weeks ago. Couple people in. Owners obviously knew them as they brought them beverages. We asked for beverages all they had was tap water and green tea. Food took 45 to come out we only ordered two servings of dumplings. They were goopy and bland. Won't be coming back.

Very friendly staff came in by myself 1st person in the morning at 11am for lunch and was promptly greeted and seated by the owners who were still opening up and hand making the dumplings. Coming from a Chinese background I have eaten many a dumpling and it is by far a very authentic really hand made dumplings made to order! (Good things come to those who wait!) highly reccomended place for the family; had the Yummy dumplings (shrimp) and beef dumplings. Going to go back in the future to try their soup steamed dumplings and beef buns. Yum!

It's no Din Tai Fung... Food is ok. The noodles on the dumplings are wayyyy too thick. If they changed that one thing I would increase my reading from three stars to four.

This is our first time to Yangs but we are happy we finally decided to stop. Authentic, affordable and delicious. Very quiet and the 2 men who are working don't speak much f any English but their food speaks for itself! $8.99 per dumpling order and has about 12-15 in each order. Soup is great too! Will be back

An awful dinner. It took just over an hour (not exaggerating) for the first of our food to be served. A few items just never showed up. But not for all customers. A table of the owner's friends came in 30-40 minutes after us and he just started rushing food out to them, while we were still waiting for our first bite. The waiter (owner's teenage kid) was like you would imagine being served by a disrespectful high school kid would be. The dumplings were boring, flavorless and barely filled. We eventually gave up on the rest of our food, paid and left. We will never go back.

Service was super slow or I guess they just don't want to serve us at all. We came in and stood in front of the door for a couple of minutes and nobody came out welcome us or direct us to sit. Finally the owner said we can sit wherever we want. After sitting down we waited for a long time again! No water, no menu, no plate, no napkin and nobody came to ask what we need. We really waste a lot of time on waiting! The taste of dumplings and pork buns are just ok so I gave 1 star. Their noodles are definitely overpriced! Only a few slices of meat and a little broccoli with a lot plain noodles charges 10 dollars! I think most Chinese can make better taste dumplings and noodle soup than them. Will not recommend to others.

Yang's dump house has been written in the pages of legend since its time in Bellevue. The excitement experienced the world over upon learning of Yang's return was akin to that of a child's first Christmas. What I'm saying is: The dumplings & steamed buns are top-notch! Highly recommended!!

  • Capt k.

Glad this place opened in Kirkland. We went there often when they are in Bellevue. They wrapped the buns when ordered. So the speed can be slow at time. Please order different type of meat because they only have three different type of dumpling filling.

  • Donald Y.

Why all the complaining? Ordered juicy buns and dumplings and was served them in 15 minutes which is reasonable for lunch time. Granted juicy buns were not pretty and skin is thicker than other places but we're just as good.

The work wife and I have been waiting in anticipation for this place to open. I wasn't at all disappointed. This is located in a strip mall type place and the parking can be a bit of a challenge. It's clean, the service was fast, and the dumplings were good. I tried the yummy dumplings and, well, they were yummy. One of the people with us tried to order the chow mein. I say tried, because they told her it wasn't available, because it was too messy. Interesting. She got the beef noodle soup instead. I didn't try it, but it looked good. They were very, very apologetic when we found out after eating that it was cash only. They were still waiting on Comcast to install their phone line or something so weren't able to take debit/credit cards at that time. I had to leave the work wife and run and get some cash. Overall a cute little place tucked away that I would definitely recommend.

Definitely nothing to write home about. Won't be back. This was my second, and last visit. At least when they were in Bellevue they were faster. When you bring cash make sure to bring the correct amount too. They didn't have change for a $100. So...it took over an hour for an order for soup and one order of dumplings. I had to cancel the order of steamed buns because I don't have three hours for lunch! It averages 45 minutes per dish. I noticed that no one on Yelp had ordered the soup, so i bravely did. Very unremarkable. The beef was overcooked and the soup was totally flavorless - it looked like chicken broth, but it was so watered down I couldn't detect the flavor. Save yourself the $9 and pass on it. The dumplings were very doughy because they had very little meat. They were very flavorless too. I agree with what the other Yelpers have said - everything tastes the same. When I make dumplings I put in cabbage, green onions, etc. They were too bland and doughy for me. If you like dumplings go to Momoya across the street by Petco they make awesome, from scratch, pan fried (gyoza) dumplings - made from a Japanese chef. They are waaaayyyyy tastier. Plus the people are nice, they have something cold to drink and take other forms of payment besides cash. Best option: drive across the bridge to China Town!

This is a wonderful little restaurant -- clean, and with great food. Nothing is fried, everything is steamed or boiled. The dumplings are delicious, freshly made, even the wrappers are made by hand. Nice people. I had the yummy dumplings, which were, and next time I will try the soup dumplings. I highly recommend it, and I hope they really do well at this location!

  • Robert D.

Disappointed! My wife and I tried three different steamed dumplings, and except for one of them having Green Onions, they all tasted the same. Worst of all, they didn't resemble the pictures on the wall at all (classic, asian, loose, sweet BBQ, pork steamed bun). Server seemed to not understand any English. Didn't try the soups.

I missed yang's dumplings! Although the wait can last up to 20 minutes, at least you know there is a good reason. So yummy and made in place dumplings! You just can't ask for more.

There is no art of cooking here. If you like Kukai ramen noodle, you will not like this joint. The restaurant is without character. Food here is without color. The owners have no idea about the joy of eating. Don't go, you would be so disappointed that you have to stop by Starbucks and gorge on dessert to forget the experience. Food - bland, no taste, no color to decorate the dumplings. lukewarm tea, cheap plastic plate and tea cup. the more I think about it, the more I start to.......gag...... yes, it is that bad.

  • Emma F.

The dumplings were bland and the soup dumplings were horrible. Why were the soup dumplings horrible? 1. No soup, kind of defeats the point 2. The tops were dry, like crunchy dry. The boiled dumplings are ok, nothing spectacular but not bad. If you go, stay away from the soup dumplings.

This Chinese Dumpling restaurant is pretty new to the area and they're still working out a system to get the food out to the patrons as soon as possible. On thing to keep in mind is that the dumplings and noodles are HANDMADE and NOT FROZEN. This makes the wait a little longer than usual, so I don't really mind the longer wait because it's totally worth it. I'm sure, over time, they will work out a better system or hire more people to help, but for now it's worth the wait, especially for the price. Very authentic chinese dumplings and noodles at a very reasonable price! Just be patient!

Asked if the noodles were rice or egg noodle, could not answer. Ordered the pork noodle soup. Broth was cloudy but fairly tasty, Soup had broccoli, noodles and pork. The soup was okay, but most of the places in Chinatown are better. The water had that taste of sanitizer in it, so order a bottled water instead. FU Man Dumpling House, is your best bet for dumplings. Normally I love the Chinese hot sauce, it has chunky bits of pepper and sesame seeds, this one was mainly oil and not much pepper. If this place is willing to cheapen out on their hot sauce, what else do they cheapen out on ? I don't care if someone can not speak English, if the food is good, but this place sucks!!!

Almost a hole in the wall type restaurant but excellent dumplings & noodle soup. Freshly made, good prices but language could be a problem. Overall excellent!

Went in for lunch on a Monday and it wasn't too busy but still took awhile to get the food. Some of the steamed dumplings were dried out on the dough. There were a few people on their lunch hour who looked a bit frustrated it was taking so long to get their food so I would advice anyone coming here when time is limited to skip any items where they have to steam it in the bamboo basket. Other Food was decent as always and I've been coming here since they opened their original location.

The menu is ridiculous. This is not a dim sum nor a Shanghai style restaurant. Soup buns have no soup. The beef/port buns are fake Chinese Xiaolongbao ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xi… ) The dumplings also tastes weird. Finally, the woman is very rude and told me pork and shrimp are expensive and the food are made in this way in their restaurant. What's a joke!

  • Sarah M.

The dumplings are good quality, though as others have stated: this is not a fast, take out establishment. The family who owns this dumpling house is friendly and I like being able to watch the preparation of the food.

  • Santiago N.

Not terribly impressed. Several reviews say single order of steamed dumplings comes with 16 dumplings. The lady that works here insists on 14. We received 15. Menu doesn't specify. Taste a bit over average, texture and presentation were poor. Unlike other reviewees however, service was fairly prompt (we're one of two customers here). I love dumplings but I probably will not be coming back [deep sigh....].

It's cash only. You don't come here for the service or the ambience... or someone to talk English to you... You come here for delicious dumplings. The owner is incredibly nice.

Don't listen to the bad reviews, this place is awesome. I went the other night and saw a POS thing so it appears you can pay with a credit card. I also expected a long wait after the other reviews, and it was not long at all! I had the yummy dumplings, and the soup dumplings, they were wonderful, and the staff is very friendly. I'll be going back again for sure.

We've been big fans ever since Yang's been in it's Bellevue. When it closed, we were heartbroken... been waiting for it to open for over a year, and it was definitely worth the wait. The dumplings are great - hand made and fresh, very tasty, and a great deal for your money. We found that two orders of dumplings (~$20) satisfy two adults on a standard day. If you're extra hungry, adding another order of dumplings or a salad will do the trick and you're still at the low end of the spectrum. The Soup Buns and Pork Buns are our favorites, but the Beef Dumplings are also pretty good. Haven't tried the other options yet. We really like the owner and how he treats the customers - he is always nice and smiling, trying to make our little one laugh and offering candies etc. It's important to set your expectations with regards to wait times: Yes, the wait time is long, but it's worth the wait. If you're doing take-out - call ahead to order (the number listed is wrong currently - the right one is 425 636 8893). If you're planning to dine in and are tight on time - just pass and come another time.

Our experience here was so awful it was funny. Here are a few reasons it was terrible. There was a long, dark hair on my plate of dumplings. 50% of the items on the menu were not available. The only two people working were arguing our entire meal. Signs read "No Credit Cards" but he told us "ok". The waiter stood over us while we tried to figure what was available and what was "canceled". He was rude and not helpful. The AC was broken and it was extremely hot. The dumplings were not fresh as we saw them pulling them out of the freezer and cooking them. We got a couple dumplings and a salad. The food was not good. It was far from good. We will never go back and do not recommend this restaurant. I don't know how it's still in business. I'd give it zero stars if I could.

Soup dumplings contain no soup! According to the waiter, they are supposed to contain little to no soup. Will not be coming back and do not recommend.

Most of the menu options were not available. The water tasted like plastic. Our order was wrong, but the service was so bad...we didn't make them correct it. We paid for the lackluster food and left and ate the rest of our meal elsewhere.

Crud service. Horrible dumplings. Rude time wasting service. Owner is nice but help is phoning it in underpaid, resentful god knows. Dry thick skin, skimpy mush filling. Amateur Chinese hour. Speaking as Chinaman. Greenwood Mandarin Restaurant in Bellevue and Kings Noodle have far better, * authentic* dumplings

I don't understand why this place is getting any positive reviews. The dumplings are very bland and taste about the same as the frozen ones you get at a Chinese grocery store. There was no juice at all in the XLBi. The beef noodle soup is a joke. I think it's just watered down chicken broth with some beef slices on top. Being Chinese myself I found it to be an abomination of Chinese beef noodle soup so we sent it back. The waiter was unfriendly and unhelpful. We asked for a glass of water which never showed up and he seemed annoyed to even be working there. The people next to us also felt similar and we both commented on how better off you would be just boiling your own dumplings at home.

We are delighted to have such a delicious dumpling restaurant in our vicinity. As others note, the dumplings are freshly prepared. Our favorites are the steamed pork dumplings and steamed pork buns; it takes 15 minutes to steam them, but it is worth the wait. We also order the wonton soup which is enough to serve four people. We love this place since it is always easy to get a table, and unlike some other places, the hot dishes are freshly prepared and generous in portions. As an update to other posts, they have a sign at the cash register that stipulates cash only. It is a sit-down service place, and menus are brought to your table. One other post indicated that the bathroom was "icky," but during my visits, their bathroom has always been clean and stocked with soap and paper (it is a simple restaurant - so it depends on the clients' care since the staff of three are busy cooking and waiting on tables). The prices are quite reasonable for the quantity served (large dumpling plates cost $8.99), and the owners are so friendly and attentive to the needs of their patrons. This has become a regular ritual for getting our dumpling fix.

Are these the best dumplings? No. But they are dumplings. And reasonably authentic. And cheaper than DinTaiFung. 90% of customers speak Mandarin with the staff. None of the staff speak good English. The vibe is completely minimalist, and not in a modern way, which is also reminiscent of dumpling houses in China.

I love places like Yang's- clearly this is a family business and I can appreciate that- It's a very casual atmosphere-great for a quick lunch- They pretty tasty Dumplings- you can order them steamed or boiled- i tried both ways and I loved both, i would prefer the steamed dumplings though.. I had the beef dumplings and the yummy dumpling (their specialty)- the only thing is i wish they had a vegetarian or chicken dumplings- sometimes beef and pork is just too heavy during the day-however, i did appreciate how the taste of the dumplings are clearly made from scratch- I didn't try any else on the menu because we really just came for dumplings-If and when I am back in the area I might stop in again- themmm dumpings.

  • Maricel F.

Horrible. Started with our tea, that was pretty much water. Ordered the beef soup, that had no flavor, not even the meat...just watered down. We got the pork steamed buns and the soup buns (aka XLB). They were both super duper doughy and if I didn't know any better I'd say they were the same exact buns. I've had my share of XLB, from NYC, Hong Kong, and LA. I've been to din tai fong and sad to say I'd put this place below them....and I thought din tai fong was bad. This place put such a bad taste in our mouth, my husband wanted to just walk out and not pay anything. He also insisted I actually write a review...after years of yelp, this is my very FIRST review. I don't mean to be so mean, but I wouldn't want anyone else to waste their money. Sad bc someone lied to these ppl. I gave them 1 star for cleanliness...

This is very authentic. Best pork bun in eastside if not greater seattle. It is very northern chinese style and for those who love pork bun, this place is the best.

Yang's is okay. My son liked it, but I wouldn't recommend it to any of our friends. Service is slow and food is just okay. We were thinking, it would be better if they had different types of sauces to dip the dumplings in to vary the flavor.

I don't know how this place has good reviews. This is absolutely horrible. I cant even justify the food by how horrible the service was. We sat over an HOUR for our food, and they forgot half our order. When I asked where our food was, they said we did not order it. They never once checked on us until we had to pay. We almost walked out on one occasion, then suddenly our food quickly came, but like I said it was only half of it. The people next to us tried to order off the menu, but could not order anything because they were out of half the menu. I have waited an hour and a half and I am still hungry. I now am going to another restaurant so I can eat the rest of my dinner. Never going back!!

Excellent homestyle boild dumplings reminds me of the little family businesses back in Asia. Not so sure about their Ding Tai Fung style steamed xiao long bao ordered once only. Seaweed salad is good. They take credit cards now you just ask, the cash sign is still there I think to encourage more cash purchases. The service is fine and the wait wasn't long, boiled dumplings take time to cook so I actually thought they were pretty fast.

We had the beef noodle and pork buns and they were nothing special. Beef noodle is more like boiled beef in wonton soup than the flavorful Taiwanese Soup at Facing East I'm used to.

If you like traditional seafood dim sum with the bamboo or stainless baskets and carts - this is NOT it. The dumplings are made from scratch along with the wrappers, however, it is not what I am use to. Too much dough. I much prefer the variety offered at Joi's or Top Gun or even Nobel Court. Noodle soup tasted like pepper - just salt and pepper. The tap water tasted funny as if the cups or pitcher was not clean...though the place appeared clean. The wait staff did not speak english. It was expensive for what you got. Will NOT return. I LOVE dim sum - grew up with it and loved it when I lived in Hawaii. This is not traditional dim sum. It's a carb fest with salt and pepper. Very sad I was excited at the idea.

Update: I changed my review to 4 stars now. I decided to give the place a second try. At 7PM, there is only one table. It seems the grand opening crowd is gone. A waiter greeted us immediately with code water and menu. We ordered the steamed bun, the yummy dumpling. Both are handmade and taste good. The dumplings are northern China style. This place is like the small dumpling houses on the street in China where we used to get our breakfast. Overall, it is a small place with only one waiter and one cook. You cannot expect a lot. But, if you are patient, you will get something unexpected.

I only had dumplings and the special beef, so I can't talk to the noodles or the soups, but...It was really not good. Slow, surly service, and not good dumplings. The soup dumplings had no soup in them. The dough on all the dumplings, instead of being light and toothy, were dense and heavy. It wasn't cheap, either. I was really excited for a dumpling house to open right across the street from my house, but am truly disappointed in this place.

  • Alakake K.

My first and last visit. I ordered the beef noodle soup and it was lacking taste, it was so bland that I had to pour a ton soya sauce just to give it a hint of flavor. What a waste of time, money and wasted calories. Never again....

We ordered the pork xlb. They came as large as my fist but were too doughy and not juicy enough to make us come back. Back to DTF we go whenever we need our xlb fix.

Horrible service! Gave us wrong order and claimed that it was our fault. Noodle soup is way too oily and dumpling wrapping is too thick. Won't come back again!

  • Maggie Y.

We ordered 4 dishes and we felt disappointed with all of them. The beef noodle and the chicken pickle noodle were bland. The soup base was the same just the meat were different. The steam buns were sloppy looking with open top and tasted ok. Finally the steam dumplings didn't look good either. The dumplings are handmade as other reviews said but it's definitely not restaurant quality. I don't think we are going back again.

Fantastic! The food is made fresh, no frozen dumblings here! You can watch Yang, the owner, roll our the dough for each order. Large amount of food for a good price. CASH ONLY so come preparred. A wonderful addition to Rose Hill.

Looked like a bunch of chickens with their heads cut off behind the counter. Service and speed were non-existent. Even got weird looks asking for extra plates and bowls. Very disorganized front and back staff. Food was ok, if they were available. I have been there twice (1 lunch, 1 dinner) and they were out of the majority of their menu. The baos and dumplings were inconsistent. Some had very thick and chewy skins, some were thin and broken open upon serving. Beef noodle soup was average, not even close to the picture posted on the wall. The chinese salad was worth mentioning but only if you can get them... they were not available the second time I came (11:30 am on Saturday). No shrimp/pork wontons either. So much for prepping. Looked around and everyone looked frustrated and disappointed at the slow chaotic service. Someone getting to-go food stood for nearly 30 minutes before complaining. This is simple food here, people. Most cooking involves steaming or boiling. Get your act together. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Not stepping back there again.

  • Nu N.

The only reason why I've been here twice was to see if they had improved since they first opened. Unfortunately, things hadn't changed. The soup dumplings were dry and the soups seeped out of them. The waiter was hard to communicate to and didn't speak much English. The food was nothing extraordinary - stuff that you could probably make better at home. You could hear bickering in the kitchen. And the worst part is, the service was slow. Both times it took over 40 minutes to get our dumplings and we only ordered 2 dishes! Should've known better when we walked by the other tables and saw people just sitting around, waiting. Probably won't be coming back again.

Great juicy pork dumplings. They're listed as 'pork buns;' don't be fooled. Price is appealing; you get more, bigger dumplings than other places I've visited. Place is still getting going; bring cash & be prepared to wait a few minutes. Worth it!
