LOVE THIS PLACE! We came here exhausted from a trip to the Peninsula and they messed up our order initially. However, they quickly recovered with a complimentary burger as well as the option for complimentary service. And the food was great! Definitely get an order of the onion rings - come hungry! Overall a great food stop and great service.

Neat little place just a bit past the ferry terminal. They make their own veggie burgers, which were really good! Had the gojo burger-- was good, had some spicy kick to it it with jalapeños, and tapatio. Fries are just basic fries, I might get a different side next time.

Fries are incredible. Crispy chicken sandwich is very good. Burgers are amazing. If you are in the area, you should try this place!

Huge burgers and sandwiches. Very well prepared. It's a burger joint so it is a little short on ambience but makes up for it with the food.

    The burger is great!!

So good and affordable! My family and I love to eat here! Friendly staff too! Their homeade veggie burger is quite good!

This place is great!! Less than 10 bucks for a homemade burger and fries. Are you kidding me? I will find my way here again. The burger is outstanding. (BBQ) and the service was only about 5 minutes. Perfect for the person who wants a quick amazing bite.

Thank god for this funky little hole in the wall! They are what a hamburger should truly taste like, unlike all those other wanna be burger joints and restaurants running around this town! They use beef from all grass feed cows and this means you will get a great tasting burger every time. They have a crazy selection of burgers to chose from too! No worries if your not a burger person because they also have chicken sandwiches, philly steaks, gyros, salads, and lots of starters to choose from, not to mention 29 shake flavors to pick from!! What tops this deliciousness off, is their prices, are all cheaper than you can get a burger elsewhere. Yay for Grub Hut!!!

The Name says it all! If you want a mound of frozen, pre cut fries drenched in bright yellow nacho "cheese" ladled out of a 5 gallon pail, then head on over to the Grub Hut and order the "Pound O Fries" special. The other items on the menu are of similar culinary merit. Burrrrrp! EZ John

My husband and I ate here and it was Delicious! The fried pickles are amazing, the burgers are huge and the atmosphere is fun and friendly! My husband had the mushroom burger. While I feel mushroom burgers are pretty standard anywhere you go this one was pretty good! The beef patty was cooked perfectly and they did not skimp on the toppings on the burger! I can't remember the name of the burger I had but it had spinach, olives, pico de gallo, avocado slices and provolone. It was fantastic! This place is a cute little hole in the wall. Overall we really enjoyed it! The only reason we wouldn't give it 5 stars is the fries aren't fantastic. The regular fries were a little lacking in flavor, other than that you should try it out!

Just ate there today. When walking in the set up is a little confusing... There is no big visible menu only specials- I think they would benefit overall with a big visible menu-- instead you have to awkwardly locate a paper menu while the worker girls kinda look at you like "have you not been here before?" Ha. Overall, I got the "silly Californian" burger. It was good. Delicious. All that a burger should be. The fries were basic to me... I also ordered the fried pickles because any place with fried pickles is my type of place... Ha. I like them better when they are chip style but they were still pretty good and the ranch was tasty too. I also think the place would benefit with a separate women's/men's bathroom... But perhaps it makes it more "homey" without... Overall I will stop again for a burger.

We had a party of 5. 3 of the orders were wrong in some way. I had the french dip. It was the worst french dip I have ever had. The beef was very tough and the sandwich was wrapped in paper with cheese stuck all over it. It was messy as heck and just not good. Service was decent. I asked for a towel to clean by own table because they were too busy.

This is the best burger on the peninsula, period. The buns are toasted and still fluffy, the grass fed beef is flavorful and juicy, and every topping is fresh and crisp. The milk shakes are intensely flavorful without tasting artificial and super icecreamy. Is icereamy a word, I don't know but it should be. You will be happy after eating here and even your wallet will remain full because of their great prices.

WOW! Fun surprise in Kingston to find the Grub Hut! We don't get out this way often, but this place is a must stop here. We had the Caesar's Gyro and the Uncle MacGyver's Burger with the Navy Bean and Ham soup and Potato Salad. Seriously great tasting food, don't miss it!!!

  • Megan W.

This place is great! I had a BBQ burger with fries. The portions were more than generous. The fries were seasoned perfectly. My burger was incredible! The garlic mayo really makes the burger. I live in Poulsbo, but I'll definitely be driving back to Kingston just for this place.

These burgers are life changing. Sundried tomatoes on a burger , holy crap. I want to try every burger but on vacation.... Amazing place

A decent place to stop for a bite. They have a good selection of burgers and sandwiches with a reasonable kids menu. The service was fast and friendly and the prices were reasonable. The food was good enough that we will stop here again rather than go to a McDonald's.

Great burgers, great chicken. Skip having lunch on the Edmonds-Kingston ferry and stop by here. Some of the best burgers ever!

The owners are amazing and the food is even better!!! You can tell how passionate they are about their food with your first bite! Burgers are to die for and salads are large portions. You won't leave hungry!!

THIS. PLACE. IS. LIFE. I've seriously contemplated getting a Grub Hut tattoo. We come here on a fairly consistent basis, and the food is ALWAYS on point! I haven't been able to capture any pictures of the burgers we order, because it's so freaking delicious I devour it before snapping a photo ever crosses my mind. If you like burgers, this is like the mecca of burger joints. The holy grail of burgers. The owner is probably the nicest guy I've ever met. The fries are on point, the shakes are the silkiest and most delicious in the county, and uhh this place is just amazing. My only complaint - they close at 8pm and I live in Silverdale! In the summer months we don't get the opportunity to eat there as often because you know, with hot weather food doesn't start to sound good until the sun goes down and it cools off. I wish they would have extended summer hours from the end of May to the end of August till 9 or 10pm. Would be amazing! We've hit up most of the burger specific places in Kitsap and the Seattle area, and the Grub Hut takes the cake! I love you, Grub Hut! Now get in my bellay! (PS No matter what you order - IT WILL BE DELICIOUS. And if you aren't happy, let them know! They WILL make it right! A non-burger favorite of ours is the "You're not in Philly cheesesteak" with mushrooms and extra cheese! sogood) Now, enjoy the Grub Hut and your soon-to-be full and happy tummy, you will not be disappointed! Oh! Wait, did I forget to mention how reasonable their prices are? My fiancee and I can both get drinks and shakes with our meals for under $15 a person. That includes your meal, huge portion of fries that comes along with it, a big shake, and soft drink. You definitely get your bang for your buck! Plus it's right by the Kingston/Edmonds ferry, so if you ever find yourself taking that boat you better stop in for a burger! They also offer vegetarian/vegan subs for all of their patties if I'm not mistaken! (but who would want to do that?!)

I really wanted to like this place but the food was a big disappointment. I am only in town for a few days of work and was told by a local guy that this place was great. He said I needed to try the onion rings, which I did. I ordered the west coast Philly cheesesteak sandwich and onion rings. The food had plenty of flavor and was juicy but not the kind of flavor I care for. The onion rings tasted like they were fried in old oil. Everything was cooked perfectly but I just didn't like the flavor. The store and staff and very friendly. I wish I liked this place. I will probably be back and give it another shot.

The homemade veggie patties were very delicious, huge but very yummy! The pile of fries were crisp and plentiful. Others in my party ordered milkshakes which all said were thick and more like soft serve ice cream!!! Oh I forget, the fried pickles were an absolutely piece of yum!! Will have to revisit this place again.

This is such a great hole in the wall place - we stopped for a quick lunch after taking the ferry & I loved it! Based on the reviews, the burgers are the thing to have but let me tell you - their hummus plate is NO JOKE. For $5 I got a huge serving of garlicky hummus, some feta and mounds of fresh cut carrots, cucumbers and celery. (Normally you get pita too but I asked for no bread). It was a ton of fresh, delicious food - so much that I couldn't finish it. For $5! Even McD's is more expensive than that. The person I was with got a Cobb Salad which again, was huge and loaded with grilled chicken and what looked like a whole diced avocado. The folks that work here are sincerely nice and care that you are happy with your meal. The Grub Hub may not look like much from the outside, but it's a gem.

Great place. Very friendly service. I ordered the Grubhut Burger with gorgonzola cheese, and it was delicious.

Good burgers. Even when they were busy the burgers came out fairly quick. First time here and will come again.

  • R D.

Great burgers and sandwiches!! Its a little bit off the beaten path for me but well worth the trip. I had the Philly cheese steak with nacho fries. The sandwich was great. A big sandwich with huge chunks of steak; more than I could eat in one sitting. The nacho fries were nice and crispy with a cheese sauce as opposed to just being sadly microwaved cheese. My girlfriend had one of the special burgers with the chili. The burger looked great; chili a little under seasoned but alright. My mom had the soup and salad which were both nice and big for the price. This is truly the place to go to satisfy your burger urge.

Met a friend who was moving across country here for dinner. First thing you'll notice when you enter is the unusually low number of tables. I think the number of booths stayed in the single digits. Fortunately, I was able to claim one of the last ones. Anyway, really, really good stuff. Ordered a caesar salad, chicken sandwich, fries and a rum shake. Friend ordered a cheesecake shake to go with his burger. We tasted each other's shakes, and both agreed that they were exceptional. Try the rum shake. Try it. Their fries are smaller than the traditional steak fries, which is the perfect size for me. Everything tasted great, but the chicken sandwich order was wrong. I brought it back, and not only did they replace the sandwich, but I received an extra order of fries as well. Great food, great service and great prices make this place well worth the trip. EPILOGUE: Apparently my two friends got sick after eating there. I can't say for sure if it was the food, because I felt fine. I guess we'll never know.

  • Christopher S.

Lots of average food at reasonable prices. Good burgers, Cobb salad, shakes. Stay away from the French dip. The bread is soggy, The meat is overcooked and tough and there is enough horseradish on it to kill the average person.

Great food and inexpensive. Plus you won't leave hungry!

I freaking love this place. My SO and I have had to agree that this place is a treat only because, seriously, we'd eat there four or five times a week if we left it unchecked. The burgers are delicious. You can tell that the philosophy is that sometimes good food takes a little longer. But that isn't to say that it's ever a long wait. It isn't McDonald's fast, but the food always comes out piping hot in about five minutes, maybe a little longer if they're busy. My SO always gets the veggie burger patty, and he says it's incredible. I've tried it, and I'd have it again if I decided to be a vegetarian. The fried pickles are good, too. In all sincerity, The Grub Hut has become the standard by which the SO and I evaluate our burger joints. "It's not as good as The Grub Hut" is almost always uttered if one of us has a burger somewhere else.

One major benefit of a restaurant that's not part of a larger corporation is that it's not forced to abide by certain pop trends, like supporting diets or extreme calorie counting. Some food needs to just stay the way it is - nice and greasy. The Grub Hut accomplishes such a thing by having grease ooze out of the paper wrapping right when you lift your burger out of the basket. First bite you take, and if you have anything like the 'You're Not In Philly Cheesesteak' that I did, you'll be in cow heaven. My friend had the 'shroom burger, and we were both fighting for the paper napkin dispenser within 10 seconds of our first bites (which, btw, was well stocked). The meat was juicy, bread was soft inside and crusty outside, and the vegetables were fresh. The tartar sauce I used for the french fries was thick and flavorful, and The Grub Hut offers a bunch of other awesome condiments for the burgers, such as Sriracha, Lea & Perrins, and different tobascos. Lastly, their shakes are gut-busting good. If you're crazy enough to try and get both in one sitting, you'll be going against any latest healthy diet craze, but in return, you will be earning the admiration of every genuine eater out there. Hit up the Grub Hut next time you're in the Kingston area. And if you're like me and are going to the Grub Hut after a day of fishing on the sound, then you might be able to con yourself into thinking that you burned enough calories beforehand to splurge a bit on food.

Stopped by during an afternoon Sunday 2/22/14 visit to Kingston. We were on our way to Down pour brewery which is just kiddie corner to the Grub Hut. This place was Great! We had actually been to Red Mill earlier in the weekend and I prefer Grub Hut. They have a greater variety of burgers, sandwiches and gyros. Plus the food is outstanding. Service is quick and friendly fun atmosphere. It isn't a big place (8-9 booths + 6-7 stools total) so seating is at a premium. It was so nice outside we ate at the picnic table. I had the Macgyver burger while Cam had the Bacon cheese burger. Both were juicy, tasty and gone very quickly. Cam had the slaw with hers, I had fries. Both were good but considering the size of the burgers they could get away with giving you less fries. Enjoy.

This place is a cool, Hawaiian place. I gave this two stars. Ordered chicken sandwich with French fries. Chicken sandwich was not bad but they used boiled chicken, wish they used the chicken on BBQ or grill to make it taste better. And French fries were not enough cooked. Would not come back again.

This place has a fun atmosphere, very friendly counter service, and a huge heart for making crazy burgers. Watch out because those delicious bad boys can be a mess. Exactly how a good burger should be. The salads are tasty as well. They go heavy on dressing in my opinion but that does make it taste better. Just not quite as healthy if that's why you chose the salad. Only pet peeve is that the surface of most things here seem grimy. This is small potatoes though and will not be keeping me away.

Quality food, very friendly atmosphere, and you'll be munching on your order in no time.

Food is sort of Ok. Expensive and slowly served. Fries were burnt and in a large pile which did not compensate for their crappy taste. Interior is small and quite run down and basically filthy. Considering that there is no other burger joint around ( BTW McDonalds across the street doesn't come close to qualifying as a burger joint ; read my review of them, if you please. And don't throw up after eating there) it is THE ONLY somewhat decent burger in town until you find yourself in Poulsbo at Burger King or Jack in Box. Quite sad offerings. A REAL. Burger joint could make a fortune if it existed here. BTW What is it with mini strip mall food eateries? Feels like being in one of those cramped Auto Franchise places with smelly people standing around. And I am sometimes smelly, so I would know... Oh yeah, the infantile "skateboarder punk" on their sign. Honestly now, would you eat anything offered from a punk at a strip mall? Of course, I have eaten food offered from a clown and a toy in a box, and regretted it also.

Found this place by accident. Best burger in a decade at least! The fries were great and the young people running t he place were competent and polite. This will be our new favorite burger place.

Grub Hut has a fun atmosphere, juicy and great tasting hambugers. The best thing yet is their prices are still affordable. Service is quick.

On a beautiful sunny day along side the Puget Sound, my wife and I stumbled across this place after taking the ferry to Kingston. We were on our way to Port Townsend for the day and figured that we should stop and eat before we made the drive up. As you can tell by my rating, we were both delightfully surprised and satisfied by perhaps one of the best burgers I have ever ate in my life. I ordered the basic cheeseburger and she got the Cajun burger with onions. The burgers dripped with flavor and the taste made me want to jump up on the table and yell, Hallelujah! The ambiance was nice the service was superb and the price was reasonable enough and well worth it. When we are in the mood for some killer burgers we will defiantly make it out there again. Heck, we might even be willing to pay for a ferry ticket to make it out there just for another taste of one of those burgers. Do yourself a favor and eat here. You will not regret it!

I recently moved to Washington from the east coast. I went on a Grub hut marathon for the first couple of weeks I lived here. So it's sort of "played out" at this point. Nonetheless, for a place that specializes in burgers, this is the place. Better than 5 guys by far... I usually get the Buffalo chicken sandwich (I'm from buffalo) and this brings me home... Staff are always friendly, orders are quick and service is great for a "fast food" restaurant

Came for lunch and everyone enjoyed their meals. Good food good service. Get here early if you going to eat in.

It warmed my heart to walk in and hear the owner trying to figure out how to cut costs with better appliances and systems (overheard his conversation). There was no talk about changing the food. The food is good. Just wants to be more efficient making great food. Right on. So...the food. This is a great place to grab a hot sandwich. The food made me jealous. It wasn't the food's fault...but my wife ordered a french dip that made me want to push her out of the booth and on to the floor to steal it from her. I mean, it was good. The best part was the smokey flavor in the au jus. The horse radish mayo was also very good but it packs a punch (no wimps). Yes, I'm ashamed of myself. I should have stolen her sandwich. I wimped out. I ordered the West coast cheese steak. The grilled steak, bacon, cheese, and spinach were a tasty combination that was fun and different. The roll it was on was tough enough to hold up to the contents but not hard or tough to chew. The steak was slightly tougher than I'd like. Maybe chop it a little more or buy steak with a little more fat content?? Anyways, good sandwich. For sides, my wife got the fries and I got the onion rings. The fries are fine. The onion rings were far and away the winners. Crispy, delicious breading and sweet onion. They distracted me enough to prevent any sandwich-based domestic dispute with my wife. I'm probably lucky. My wife is prettty tough. Next time, french dip, you are all mine! With onion rings!

  • Kelly T.

Definitely a fan of this little place. The burgers are just outrageously good and huge. I got the peppered burger with avocado and a vegan chili for under $10 and the portions were so big that I can only eat my burger and did not have any room left for the big cup of chili they give you. I heated it up afterwards and immediately wished I ordered another serving because it was so tastety. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 stars was because the cashier told me a spoon was in the bag for me but when I had gone to the park to enjoy my burger and chili, there was no spoon. Quite disappointed in that. Otherwise, it was a great experience. Oh one more thing, definitely get their peanut butter milkshake. It was awesome and for $2.50 for a small, totally worth it ;)

  • Hannah L.

AWESOME! I'm warning you - Grub Hut will RUIN you for any other burger - EVER! It is the best burger place I have ever gone to. Also, their beef is grass-fed and they offer gluten free buns.

    (5)
  • Chris M.

Holy Smokes. That is one awesome veggie burger. Said no one ever. Until know! I consider myself lucky I missed the ferry and ended up grabbing a bite to eat. Being a vegetarian, we usually get the after thought food that places will offer just to shut us vegetarians up. Not the Grub Hut. Hands down the best veggie burger I have had. The fries were crispy and the deep fried pickles were pretty amazing. All that combined with stellar customer services makes it a dynamite place to grub. I look forward to missing another ferry just to grab a bite to eat. Heck, I will walk on the ferry just to ride over to enjoy the food.

  • Kasey E.

Also found this place by accident... So glad I did!! Very friendly staff and quick service (we had about 9 different orders). Many different shake flavors, try the pistachio! My husband and I had the tizzy-fit burger.... wow.... Best burger I have ever had!! The burgers are big and tons of great seasoned fries. I will definitely be headed back ASAP

  • Mike P.

Our normal stop when we take the ferry to Kingston. Not the best burger I have ever eaten but pretty darn good. Service has always been fast and the food hot when arriving at the table. It is not a large place and can get busy during the rush hours but sure is worth the stop.

    (4)
  • Scott M.

I don't remember what it was called, but I got one of the specials - I think it started with an "N" - it was a beef burger with sauteed onions and mushrooms. It tasted pretty damn good but WOW did it leave a mess behind. There was so much moisture, I guess from a combination of burger juice, butter from the sautee, moisture from the onions, toppings, and who knows what else. Some of my fries got soaked and there was no way to avoid it. The "Hut" part of the name refers only to the gimic-y interior. Incidentally, the "Grub" part refers to the food. "The" is in the name for gramatical reasons (allegedly). Free soda for active duty military - yay!

  • Steven - Lorilei S.

What a wonderful surprise to find the Grub Hut. Cheveche, super burgers, soup, cheese steak sands, salads, fried pickels, garlic fries, 43 flavors of shakes and malts, free drinks with military IDs the other fantastic menu items. Give Em a try.

    (4)
  • Veronica V.

Went here with the hubby. He ordered the Grub Hut burger with garlic fries while I had chicken strips with a cole slaw side (I wasn't that hungry) - hubby liked his burger; his only complaint was that by the time he ate all of the meat patty there was 1/3 of bun & condiments left. Garlic fries and a side of potato salad we ordered were tasty; cole slaw was almost bland, I thought. Oh, and free soda/fountain drinks for Active Duty servicemembers, so the hubby scored a free drink xD We were pretty happy with Grub Hut and I look forward to trying their burgers next time!

  • Brittany R.

Just tried the Grub Hut for the first time and must say I'm dissapointed :(. I had such great expectations from the other review.... I had the Black and Blue bacon burger which should be renamed salt overload burger! I love blue cheese burgers but this one had sooooo much seasoning salt that I couldn't taste anything else. Couple that with the salty blue cheese and bacon and it was just really unpleasant. The fried pickles have way too much breading. The fries were decent and what I would expect from this kind of joint. My hubby had the Grub Hut burger with the egg... it was actually pretty good, however literally dripping in grease. Dont get me wrong.. love good greasy burgers...but this place let me down!

After wasting 40 minutes waiting on food at the general store in Port Gamble, we came over here and were met with a smile and a positive attitude. The wife ordered the el Cubana and I went for the cheeseburger. The order came in short order, nice and hot like it should be. I must say that the Cubana looked and tasted better than my cheeseburger but I'm not complaining. Lots of interesting menu items, I wish we lived closer so we could try them all. This is a "come back to" place.

You almost need another stomach to eat here. Delicious burgers and wonderful milkshakes. The service was friendly and the food was quickly served. Plus the offer free soda for people in the military. I will be back time and time again.

  • Lisa K.

This is where I go to to get my burger fix. I think I have tried at least 1/2 of the burgers on the menu so far and I have not been disapointed yet. The burgers have always been very flavorful and juicy and I recomend ordering the onion rings, I don't think they are homemade but they taste so good with the bugers.

The BEST place to get a burger- hands down- this side of the Sound. Not only is the grub top-notch, the staff is pleasant, young and vibrant! Hip tunes pump through the sound system as well, making the grub that much better. Can't wait until our next visit!

  • Trisha L.

Great burgers. Try the Pulled Pork Sandwich for an even better meal. Only complaints are the mayonnaise on everything and the fries (definitely mediocre).

    (4)
  • Jason S.

Delicious burgers and excellent shakes! The Grub Hut is a fabulous place for a quick bite when you're in the mood for the basics, but the basics here have plenty of extras that make them a step up from the rest of the local places around. I definitely recommend the food here.

  • Marisa S.

Yes, yes, yes! That means "yes" go there, and "yes" try everything, and "yes" it is all GOOD!!!!! It is my son's favorite place to grab a cheeseburger. It is very good, but I recently fell in love with their Philly cheesesteak. So good! They have gluten free as well. It's in a great spot by the ferry. We will intentionally take the Kingston/Edmonds ferry just to stop and eat here.:)

  • Matt W.

So delicious! Doused my "El Cubano" sandwich with about 8 different lip burning hot sauces, inhaled it, and then finished half of my wife's burger. Shakes need some work, but the food carries the weight here. Great servers and cooks that seem to really enjoy their work. Fun spot, take the ferry ride and check this place out.

Order at the counter and they bring it to you. Daily specials in burgers and soups. Pretty large menu for a burger joint. Great meat, lots of fries. Rings really nice. Under 10 dollars. Self serve fountain sodas, free refills but glasses stay.

The best burger in Washington! has an amazing menu selection, amazing wait staff and delicious food EVERY time!

  • Lee K.

Burgers and chicken are great. Philly cheese steak was horrible. I said horrible. It tasted like cafeteria food. BUT, the quality and consistency of their other dishes rates four stars. The creativity in the burgers sets this place apart. You need to try the veggie burger. It is a homemade veggie patty that falls apart in your hands but is very good. Fries and onion rings are top notch. Milk shakes are a must.

Okay, this review is comparing Grub Hut to Red Mill and Blue Moon Burgers. Stopped in here with a group 7 people. The service was excellent, very upbeat lady behind the counter. Food came out quickly and no mistakes were made. I asked everyone what there take was on the place after we left and here are the results. Cheeseburger - 4 stars - I had this and it was fatty/juicy cooked perfectly just the right amount of topics that were fresh. Hangover Burger (Special) - 5 stars Bacon Cheesburger - 4 stars Chili Burger - 4 stars Chicken Burger - 4 stars Fries - 3 stars (ehhh....) Would totally suggest anyone who is taking the ferry over to/back from kingston give this a go if you are into that old school 50s - 60s burger and shake thing.

I eat fast food maybe once a year, but I'd just gotten off the ferry, with still about an hour to drive, it was getting late, and I needed to grab something on the run for dinner. I'd seen The Grub Hut sign many times as I passed by, with their claim of "gourmet burgers", so I decided to give them a try after seeing the good reviews here. I got a cheeseburger with added french-fried onion strips; it came with fries. I figured I'd end up with the usual crummy tasting fast-food burger with low-quality meat, but was surprised to bite into a tender burger with good flavor! I just read that they use locally-sourced, grass-fed beef; no wonder it tasted so decent. The burgers aren't huge huge, but just the right size for me. They come with regular onions, mayo, tomato, & I think there was lettuce on it. The fries were good too. I'd go back if I was craving a burger. A nice little find in Kingston and convenient from the ferry.

On our way through Kingston, we stopped here for a late lunch. The staff was so friendly and the food was delicious. I am gluten free so the option to have a GF bun was a nice touch. They even have the ingredients listed if you have any food sensitivities. I'd come back again!

Awesome burgers. They were recommended by a local business and it did not disappoint. I had a burger with Swiss cheese, fried onions and avocado and my husband had one with chipotle, avocado, and some other spicy components. Yum! Would have given them 5 stars but the fries were ordinary.

This place not only has great burgers -- maybe the best in town -- but they also have friendly staff and a great atmosphere. Don't miss the in-house special, the Grub Hut burger, complete with a yummy fried egg! Family-friendly, comfortable, relaxed, and fun.

Some of the best burgers and American fare on the Kitsap peninsula! We live in Bremerton and are not averse to driving the 45 minutes to go to the Grub Hut!

In the rare event that I find myself in Kingston, hungry and most likely lost, I'd be down for some Grub Hut. Coming out here from Seattle while hanging with my native Poulsbo friend, I was promised the best burger on the peninsula. Up comes The Grub Hut, which comes up like your silly uncle on the grill wearing a Hawaiian shirt. And the decor inside is entertainingly tropical themed. Decked out in grass thatching, the order counter is inviting. The menus are paper fold outs, with plenty of burger choices. I take a try of the Uncle MacGyver burger, a bacon burger with pico de gallo, seemed like quite an excellent choice. Sitting in a comfy booth with my friend contemplating a diabolical Ghost Chili pepper sauce on the counter, our meal was brought out to us on baskets like a good burger should be. Now, I am always a fan of a well assembled burger, and this was burger was not the type to fall apart everywhere, but could be easily handled. The flavors were very good. A tasty pico de gallo is a condiment that makes almost anything better, and bacon was good and crispy. The burger was juicy and filling. The fries were nothing too special. Hot and fresh, but a bit unsalted, and not the crispiest, but they did the job. Overall, unpretentious, tasty burgers. It's a good spot.

Seriously, people? Four and five star reviews for the Grub Hut? Trust me; anyone going here expecting a five-star meal will be disappointed. It's average. Average burgers. Average fries. Average shakes. Below average gyros. On average, it's on par with the McDonald's across the street, although it has much more variety. Individual ratings: Gyros: ** Garlic fries: *** Cheese fries: * Grub Hut burger: *** Jamaican chicken sandwich: * Pulled pork sandwich: *** Chocolate malt: ***

In the criteria of "as good as it gets" and in the category of good family-style restaurant with "dare I say" "Red Robin" style fair. Ya.. this is as good as it gets and it's much more reasonably priced than other places that serve similar food. Great people, great service, great food at a great price. What more can you ask for?

We've now eaten there twice, and expect to be regular customers! A VERY good buger etc joint. Their gorgonzola burgers (they have some other name for 'em) are GREAT! Their salads are sorta okay, although the chicken in them verges on being tasteless. Definitely a cafe; nothin' fancy; but large and comfy booths plus some stools at the counter. Haven't yet tried their shakes, but plan to do so based on the good quality of their burgers.

Based on the Yelp reviews, I thought I'd give this place a shot on my way up to Point No Point. Just a brief detour towards Kingston brought me to the Grub Hut. Wow, this place is awesome! The food comes up really quick, the price is right, and it's DELICIOUS! I'm also a fan of the hawaiian motif... it puts me in a good mood while I'm eating. The owner is super friendly and you get the vibe that the community has really rallied around getting this place the attention it deserves. I got a burger and fries and loved it. My wife got a gyro and loved it. I'll totally be back to sample more of the menu because they have a ton of delicious sounding burgers... very creative flavor combinations. This area really needed a place like this -- where you bring the whole family and just get your grub on. If you're in the area, don't miss out!

If you want a burger beyond the fast food fare offered in abundance in Kitsap & you don't want a "sit-down with menu", crowded gourmet burger joint, Grub Hut is a nice option to take care of that burger fix. There are times I have considered giving them 3 stars because I am frustrated that they don't have the quality they use in their burger meat in all aspects of their menu, but the creative burger choices & well executed toppings gives them at least an extra half-star. The patties are juicy, flavorful & the perfect thickness for our tastes. The toppings are usually well seasoned & the garlic mayo is a nice touch. The disappointment comes in the soggy, un-toasted, grocery store variety, mealy sesame seed buns & frozen McDonald's-style fries. Yuck. The grilled pineapple on the "don't be a jerk chicken burger" was a canned pineapple ring- translucent & mushy & I had to take it off my sandwich. Lastly, the homemade veggie burger patty is really delicious & worth trying even if you are not a vegetarian. Our favorite burgers are the Cajun, GoJo, & Shroomer with avocado added to it. To sum up, the Grub Hut fare will probably not be the best you have ever eaten, but is certainly satisfying!

Their slogan, "Good grub is messy", is no lie! Some friends and I were looking for a good place to grab lunch in that area and found The Grub Hut on Yelp. We all ordered different things but I will only review my order. I got the Cajun burger with a veggie patty. Let me just say that the veggie patty is the best I've ever had. They make it in-house. I asked the person working the cash register what they are made of and she gave me a list of things like brown rice, pineapple, and peanut butter. She also said people come across the water from Seattle just to eat their veg burger. I had to try it and I am SO glad I did. I also think the Cajun was the perfect pairing but I may try another version next time like the old fashion. The burgers come with a side and we all got the fries. Their fries are pretty standard and cooked and seasoned perfectly. This place is also very reasonable. It was $10 for a burger, fries, and a soda. Hard to find prices like that anymore! The inside has tons of seating and they have a few patio tables as well. My friends and I decided The Grub Hut is a new tradition when we go over to the Kingston cabin. It beats any other burger spot I've had in the Seattle area.

The burgers were not great, I actually like Red Robin's better. We ordered wings but they were delivered after the hamburgers (way overdressed with sauce). There is no ambience- very small cafeteria like. Staff was friendly and effecient

I commute from Bothell to Poulsbo and back daily. Except for a select few places, I'd basically given up on places in Kingston as either overpriced or places I wouldn't want my worst enemy to eat (see my review of the Drifter Galley, for example...) However recently I was famished and having enough time before the next ferry, decided to check out the Grub Hut because it was new, appeared to often have cars in the lot, and appeared to be bright and clean. I had the Grub Hut burger with fries, and while not cheap it was also not out of line with a lot of places anymore, and the burger was great! I could taste all the individual elements in the burger, it was well-cooked without being grilled to the point of being shoe-leather, all the ingredients were fresh and tasty, AND (this is a big one for me), they ACTUALLY drained the grill muck off the thing before assembling it so that it didn't turn into a pile of toxic grill muck/sludge! (See my review of Drifters for the opposite situation.) The fries were cooked until crisp but not overcooked, and they tasted like, well.... fries! Which was a welcome change from what a lot of places dish out... You can always tell if they cook battered fish and fries in the same oil (the fries taste vaguely fishy) OR they let the oil go too long before replacing it (things to start tasting oily/fatty and do not crisp up properly in the fryer.) Well, the Grub Huts food had none of those problems. Again, while not cheap they were not quite as expensive as a lot of other places in Kingston and the food was good, the service friendly and courteous and prompt (refer again to my review of Drifters for a different situation), and overall it's just a nice, quiant, classic Americana burger experience.

Went once. Will not go back. Burger and fries were ordinary. Worst onion rings I have ever had. Could not eat them. Shakes were good, but not enough to go back for.

We stopped in the Grub Hut today for lunch. We were hungry after a morning at the beach, and were on our way to Drifter's when we drove by the Grub Hut and decided to give it shot. We knew it would have to try pretty hard to be WORSE than Drifters soggy fries and lackluster service. It's so nice to have another option in Kingston. I was delighted at the friendly and quick service. The place has ten or so seating booths inside, with additional seating outside. We couldn't resist the fries plate, opting for chili and cheese on top. Two people could easily have shared this single dish for dinner at the bargain price of $4. I noticed other comments about the prices being "not cheap" but I didn't find them unreasonable, especially given the options in Kingston. We ordered the fry plate, a gyro and a burger with 2 drinks for $25. The burger was pretty good, perfectly cooked. I ordered the onion rings for an extra $1 and wasn't disappointed. The Grub Hut is clean, fast and friendly. They have a pretty good menu selection, offering salads, sandwiches, burgers, ice cream/milk shakes and more. We didn't have any ice cream, but we will be going back!

I really wanted to like this place after reading all the great reviews, as I love a juicy burger. I hate to give a small town restaurant a negative. I stopped in here just off of the ferry while on the way to meetings in Pt Townsend. I ordered to go and indeed my cheeseburger came up quickly, perhaps too quickly. Unfortunately I hopped in the car and was already a few miles away when I bit into my burger, and did not have time to go back. The burger was not even cooked. As in raw in the middle. Cold red raw. Completely inedible. I threw it into the trash. The fries were okay but not great. They get one star because the order taker was super nice. They need to cook their food. If you go here be very sure you check your food for doneness, especially if you have kids. My first and last stop here, unfortunately.

Absolutely the best burgers in Kitsap County and arguably among the best I've ever had, which is saying a lot considering I'm a huge fan of 5 Guys. Yes, messy, and worth every drip. And yes, 5 stars because we're not talking Michelin, we're saying this is how good this place is compared to every other place that does burgers. Do like a lot of people are saying and get a shake. Just like the burgers are worth every drip, the shakes are worth every.single.calorie.

So many tempting options! The Teriyaki Burger (I got chicken) with pineapple was excellent. It was indeed messy ("Good grub is messy", says the napkin holder) but tasty, and it didn't feel heavy like some burgers. Their bread is noticeably better than your average hamburger bun. The fries stayed crispy until the end, and they weren't too greasy or salty. I'm usually not big on burgers, but I really enjoyed my lunch here.

Surprisingly enough, it was really good! Had the Reed Right Way burger which had onion straws and gorgonzola. I was extremely happy. The fries were shoestring; fine, nice and crisp. Great place and a must go.

GREAT burgers, great service, and the prices weren't bad either. I went for the GoJo burger and was very impressed with the freshness of the pico de gallo and avocado on it. It really made the difference. The wife had the beef gyro, which was also good. Milkshakes were solid and reasonably priced at about $2.25 apiece. We'll be back, for sure. For kids, it was the standard burgers/corn dog kid fare.. wish they had some fruit or veggies to go along with kids meals, but they were very accommodating with a bowl of veggie soup instead of their staple fries.

I was a bit skeptical about coming here. I am not sure if its because of the location or that most of the time small burger joints around here tend to be really bad but I am SO glad I decided to give Grub Hut a try. The burgers are outstanding but I especially like the teriyaki chicken burger. The seasoning they use is a perfect compliment to the swiss cheese, fried onions and pineapple that tops it. My boyfriend always gets the grub hut burger which is topped with an egg (think Red Robin's Royal RR Burger) and fried onion straws. I consider myself to be somewhat of a french fry snob and these aren't terrible, they just aren't great. Aside from the burgers, the true star of the show is the milkshakes! Holy crap they are delightful!!! They are thick and creamy and perfectly flavored. My favorites are the chocolate and caramel though my boyfriend prefers the cheesecake. The place is fairly small so it does get packed quickly, especially when the ferry is off loading but in my humble opinion, the wait is definitely worth what you get in return. I highly recommend at least one stop in here and that should be enough to get you hooked!

Oh yum! I was craving a veggie burger! As we were on our way to the Inn at Port Ludlow this weekend, we drove by the Grub Hut and saw on their reader board they had veggie burgers. So, on the way back we were sure to make a stop. They hand make their own veggie burgers, and for vegans, they carry Gardenburgers, which I like a lot. They'll pop one on any burger of your choice, so I chose the BBQ, hold the cheese and the mayo. It was the bomb, is all I can say. The fries are great, too. Totally unhealthy, but very worth it.

The grub hut was a great find. The hamburger I ordered was spectacular. They make those crispy fries I crave. My friend ordered the Gyro. She said it was not traditional, but on its own it rated a 7 out of 10.

The Grub Hut has evolved since my first visit about a week after it opened. The first time we actually had to send our fries back to get them crisp (instead of soggy, ugh). Since opening, this place has obviously listened to what the customers wanted and has adapted to fit everyone's needs as best they can. The staff is extremely friendly and seem to be genuinely cheery at all times. They are fast and efficient and put out some very decent food. My personal favorite and current standby is the Barbecue Burger which, despite its name, is mostly garlic-flavored. A creamy super-garlic sauce provides a great boost to an otherwise slightly bland offering (I always forget that they actually put some barbecue sauce on the thing, but I wouldn't change it). I generally order onion rings as a matter of personal preference but they aren't really amazing enough to bother eating most of the time; they are rather thick and the batter is boring. They get very creative with their special-of-the-day offering. Last time I visited it was some sort of hamburger with peanut butter. Not my style, but their specials are generally imaginative *and* tasty, a rare combination. The milkshakes are run-of-the-mill flavor syrup in vanilla soft-serve but go along fine with the general feeling of the food. Certainly superior to your average McD's type of burger-and-a-shake.

Yum! Had visitors new to the area in town so we decided to take them on a ferry ride. Due to the summer crowds we wanted to walk on at Edmonds and find a place to eat. After reading the Yelp reviews on The Grub Hut we decided to go there and were not disappointed. Just a few blocks walk up from the ferry. Amazingly quick service given how busy they were and everyone in our party of 7 loved their burger or sandwhich. Great fries too. We'll be back and in the meantime I am recommending to anyone wanting a great night out at a reasonable cost.

My dad and I were looking for a good spot to eat on a Thursday night on our way to sequim when we saw this little restaurant on the side of the road we went in thinking it was perfect for both our likings. We were skeptical at first when we saw frozen fries and chicken go straight from the freezer to the fryer, but we were pleasantly surprised on what the outcome was. I got the chicken sandwich. Good choice... It was crunchy on the outside without having too much breading. My dad got the Cajun burger and said that it was flavorful and juicy with delicate caramelized onions. The milkshakes? Don't get me started. Perfect texture and flavor. Although only 14, I know good food when I taste it and I must say this did not disappoint.

I'm giving this place 3 stars for their friendly staff- however I was not impressed with the "grub" we ordered at all. Disappointed after reading such great reviews too. Fries were way too crispy- borderline burnt. I had the "marley burger" the description made it sound like a delicious full flavored burger- it was very bland. :( may be giving them 1 more chance but will certainly not be back until I try other places in the area first. Bummed!

Stopped by in a rush to make the ferry and got the Cuban sandwich to go. Never been here but the sign caught me. They were busy and the place was full but the order came out quick and we made it into line for the ferry...I honestly think that was one of the best sandwiches I have ever had! Ever...it's hard to explain how all if the flavors combined to create an amazing experience...I just wish they had a spot other than Kingston cause its not exactly next door, but I will be back!

  • Kristina R.

My husband and I stopped here for the first time today. His hamburger and my gyro were fantastic. The only thing keeping this from getting a 5-star rating was that the fries, I suspect, were the previously frozen kind that just gets dumped in the frier. I just don't understand why restraunts don't make fries from actual potatoes; it's not that difficult or expensive! That little bit of effort goes a LONG way toward flavorville! The staff was very friendly and quick. The building itself isn't the least bit fancy, but it's clean. I do recommend trying to get a table toward the back, though, because it is very drafty (and COLD!) near the entrance. We'll probably come back, I'll just know now to not to bother ordering the fries.

This was one of the best food experiences I had on a recent trip to the Olympic National Forest area. Superior food, outstanding customer service, and a full stomach! We were attracted by the quirky name, (that and it's the only restaurant that you can actually FIND in Kingston) and thought we'd give it a try. WOW! I had a Cuban sandwich and it was one of the most unique and delicious things I have eaten in years. Loved it! Serving sizes are ample and the staff was friendly and kind. It was a cool place to eat - can't wait to return. Perhaps I'll make a trip just for that....

Heading back from Seattle via ferry, and we are all starving. We decided to give this place a try because we had read good reviews from fellow Yelpers. So glad we did!!! The girls shared the chicken tender basket. I ordered the grub burger and my husband ordered the Buffalo chicken sandwich. The food came up pretty fast and it was awesome. My grub burger was so juicy and flavorful, with lettuce, tomato, onion, cheese, bacon, and a fried egg. Yeah....I don't even want to think about the calories. Fries were really good, as well. My husband was born and raised in Buffalo, NY and he said his Buffalo chicken sandwich was as good as anything he could find in Buffalo. Two chicken tenders tossed with buffalo sauce, with lettuce, tomato, onion, and blue cheese all smothered together. Both sandwiches were uber messy, but delicious, nonetheless. We are so excited to go back and try other offerings from the menu!

  • Rob C.

I will give the burgers 3 or 4 stars, but the fries are nothing special. I've tried the onion rings several times but they are battered instead of breaded and always burnt. Whatever I ask for on my burger the staff always gets it right. I was really tempted to give them 4 stars overall because you can't find anything better in Kingston.

    (3)
  • Nina W.

In my honest opinion, the four stars that Grub Hut merits are definitely lubricated with the grease oiled fingers of a woman who has touched perfection in the form of a fried root vegetable. Seriously, these onion rings were in the top three, if not the best, onion rings I have ever laid my eager lips on. And I, by no means, am a fried food connoisseur, but these onion rings were bordering on saintly, they were so perfect- battered, not breaded, fried dark crispy golden brown in the perfect temp oil, and not overly soggy. I also tried the Reeds Right Way burger and it was pretty good. The meat was very, very juicy, toppings were fresh. I think they skimp a little on the "garlic mayo" which was disappointing because that extra burst of flavor coulda set this burger over the top with goodness. If you are heading off the ferry or to the ferry via Kingston, definitely stop in here and try the Grub. They also serve salads, gyros, sandwiches, nachos, hot dogs, and cheese steaks along with the standard burgers, fries, and godly rings.

Mom and I stopped by here on Christmas Eve. We were starving and running late on our way to Port Angeles. We shared a bacon cheese burger with fries. It was very moist and tasty. I liked the fries a lot too, but we weren't big fans of the tarter sauce. The service was great, very friendly and they cut the burger for us since they knew we were sharing. It is definitely a go to place on the way out of town from the ferry. Next time I will try a soup/sandwich combo.

1st times a charm? Um... well... yes! One "not so Philly cheese steak, potatoe salad and a coke" to-go please. 10 bucks? Really? Are you sure, I just ordered a Philly cheese steak sandwich, potatoe salad and a coke!!! I know, $10 includes the tax.. Holy cow am I in another world? My morning coffee costs more than that! This is almost embarrassing! So I give the kind girl the money (as well as a tip) and 5min later my order is ready. Open my food to enjoy during my 20min ferry ride. This is no sandwich for one. This thing is huge! Although the napkins were lost in the shuffle for 10 bucks I'm happy to get my own. The potatoe salad fills the container to the rim and could easily serve 2. I dive into my hot, messy sandwich. Its yummy but could use a little more flavor. I couldn't eat even half. Not because it wasn't good it was just a lot of food. The potatoe salad was very good. Again I have a ton of left overs. All in all you can't beat the price, the quick service and very friendly staff. I will be back to try another menu item. I'll be sure to bring a big appetite and skinny wallet!

This place is as good as it gets! The atmosphere the friendly people the quality of the burgers and variety of toppings the value for what you pay. Everything about the Grub hut experience is satisfying. I especially love the selection of hot sauces they offer (for free, no less). Pretty much every time I go I just whatever the special on board is and have never been disappointed.
