We've had breakfast here a couple of times. The first time, the coffee was inexplicably weak, and the waitress admitted that they were using the grounds twice because they were low on coffee! This morning, though, the java was nice and strong. Wife and I split the Franco scramble, which includes cheddar, onions, and bacon chunks. It is delicious. I put green tabasco on mine, and a bit of ketchup on the crispy hash browns. It also comes with toast, which I'd ask for "dry," unless you like it quite buttery. The apparently house-made jam waiting on the table really makes the butter unnecessary anyway. Kid had the French Toast, which comes with a side of real-deal bacon. She liked it enough the first time we came to order it again the second. Service here is not super-fast, but it is a friendly locals' hangout. Prices are typical for a diner breakfast.

After a hard night's camping, we were ravenous upon arriving at Kate's. And we left satiated :) I opted for the Gyro scramble, which was an excellent choice. Really delicious. My hubby got the veggie Benedict, which was also pretty yummy (though I personally am not the biggest fan of cooked spinach) but not quite AS good. I recommend sticking w their specialties. Crowded spot at Sunday brunch but service was still PRETTY good. Would definitely return.

Disappointing. I really wanted a good Greek breakfast, but the lamb kebob was just bad. The pieces of meat were so tiny that the flame grilling left them overcooked and dry.

We only go to Kate's Mon-Fri because our favorite waitress doesn't work weekends! The food here is consistent and tasty! We always get breakfast, and we are never disappointed. The cooks here aren't afraid to SEASON their food, which is always refreshing! Great diner atmosphere, reasonable prices and nice people!

Our family has been coming here for as long as we can remember...almost as long as we've lived in Everett. The staff and owners treat us like family and Kate's smile makes the place feel like home as her husband diligently cranks out the most delicious of breakfast fare. My son's go-to is the "kitty cake" with a side of thick-cut bacon. I waver between the "breakfast sandwich" (pancakes with eggs and sausage or bacon and toast) and the gyros scramble (eggs, gyros meat, onion, feta, spinach) with hash browns and biscuit. The food is always lovingly prepared and they always remember that my son likes grape juice in a RED mug. The place is comfy, unpretentious, reasonably priced, and has generous portions. If you're in Everett and hungry for good breakfast (or lunch) chow, this place is not to be missed!

This place is right next to my dentist and every time I've gone for a cleaning I've wondered about this little deli. One morning the husband and I found ourselves without our kids and decided to try this place out. We were quite happy. Its definitely a low key, seat yourself, single diners sharing tables, homey environment. It also was very busy. We got the last free two top and after that there was a line out the door. The food came out quickly and as described in the menu. It was tasty and fresh and enormously portioned. Can't ask for more for breakfast. We would come back!

The staff is so friendly, prices are good, and the gyro omelette is amazing!

I don't know what all these raving reviews are all about. The food is this greasy half burned tasteless excuse of a food. It fills u up and gives u indigestion. The staff is very nice and friendly!

Located right next to Everett High School Went in at around 8 am on Monday to fill my hungry stomach for breakfast. I had Gyro Omelette and everything was superb and delicious. The lady was really nice too! I would come here regularly only if I lived near. Perfect spot for breakfast!

Best breakfast in Everett! Very comfortable down home vibe and great food. Sometimes the service can be backed up if their really busy but they're great every time!

Umm 16.05 for a greek salad with chicken that was just OK... I don't think I'll be back.

My wife and I take our breakfasts very seriously, and this place is fantastic. Let me break it down: 1) Service: Kate made it a point to make sure that we had everything we wanted, and how we wanted it. She checked on us regularly with her genuinely happy smile and personality, and gave the experience a warm feeling. Oh, and she kept us up-to-date on the status of our order, which really impressed me considering the place was -packed-. 2) Food: I got the gyros omelette, and the taste was awesome. The hash browns were ordinary, but not greasy, which I appreciate. The omelette and biscuits were stupendous, as was the tazaziki sauce we sampled, which is homemade. 3) Cost: The prices are very reasonable, and the portions excellent. Really, you won't leave this place feeling like you overpaid. We will happily return to try the lunch menu, and soon.

We're new to the area and are trying different restaurants and because my favorite food is Greek, we gave Kate's a go. I was thrilled that I could get a veggie scramble with feta. It was delicious. My kids had biscuits and gravy, french toast with sausage and eggs. Both cleaned their plates, which is their way of saying delish! It was super busy, so it took a while to get our food, but service was friendly and attentive. We definitely will put this on our list of area restaurants that we will visit!

  • Lucylyn G.

Nice staff, great atmosphere, and pretty good choices. Not much for vegetarians but there is at least one option in each menu section. Portions are reasonable and also have decent small option.

  • Dorians R.

Pretty nasty, greasy food. On level with I hop or Denny's. If it wasn't so greasy, it be worth another try. Tried it a few times and every time I've been let down. It must be hard to dab up the pool of oil off eggs and under hash browns. And lord forbid you actually spread the butter of the whole piece of toast... Cause people like a big clump of butter unspread in the middle of there toast.

Not sure what's happened to this place, but the food seems to be getting worse. My Veggie Bennie's eggs were hard boiled instead of poached and seriously old. The spinach was horrible and wilted, and my hash browns were cold. Two years ago the food was amazing, but now I won't order bacon bc it tastes like a rubber tire. I have been hoping it was a fluke but their cook is apparently not skilled at what they do. Each time I try to give it another chance I eat two bites and wish I went somewhere else. I hope the get a new cook soon bc I miss loving this place, but for now two stars seems generous.

  • Delores F.

Uh, are you kidding me? You know how everyone says "theres no such thing as too much bacon?" I think there is! And it was fabulous! I ate your standard bacon and eggs breakfast, and I was given 4 huge, hot, tasty pieces of bacon. With some fresh eggs and hash browns. This place is quaint, and the owner, Kate, waits on you, and is very very nice and personable. I would have to say, this is the best place to eat breakfast in Everett and surrounding areas!

  • Lynn B.

We enjoy Kate's on most weekends! The service is fast and the food is always good. My husband I split the biscuits and gravy, 2 eggs (always poached) hash browns with an extra side and bacon. It's the best! The coffee is always fresh!

  • Jennifer J.

We stopped here on our way to Seattle and we loved it! We shared a Gyro Scramble, which was full of meat, spinach, tomatoes, onions, and feta cheese. It really was delicious! The menu also features several standard menu options so don't let the Greek food angle scare you away. The place itself is cute, kitschy, and clean. But the service is why we will definitely come back - super fast and really friendly. Oh and the coffee is good, too, and a deal at only $1.50!

  • K. K.

Love Kate's!!! We come here every year on our way to Sorticulture!!! The food is delicious & the wait staff is always kind & prompt! It could use a bit of a make over inside, but it's clean. I HIGHLY recommend the Veggie Bennie!!!

  • Danielle D.

Much improved! We have gone 3 times since my last review and it is much better. Correct orders, attentive waitresses. Back to an enjoyable experience.

Your missing out if you don't go here! The food was fresh, Greek tasted authentic & so darn good! (I love Greek food) It can get busy, but your taken care of. Seating are booths, tables, & long tables for for extra seating. Great for meeting local peps or out of townees checking it out. They welcome everyone & all couples, family, friends, solo, & I'd go there for meetings. I also love the mix & match colors that add to a home town deli! Great Strong Coffee of course! Great Place & Affordable at that!

I have been to kate's on many different occasions, and I have never had bad service or food from this place. I just recently went in and a omelet scramble which has bacon, hand and sausage in it, and my fiance had french toast. This place one great gems in Everett for breakfast and lunch. In the past I have had their gyros, and they know what they are doing. You can always guarantee great service and excellent food. I definitely highly recommend this place if you are in the Everett. I will say this is one of a very few place I will even do a review on.

    (5)
  • Keith B.

Always great service and solid food! The gyros are delicious but American burgers and breakfast are what keep me coming back!

  • Paul S.

I went here for a quick casual lunch. I really can't review the food here, just the service. After entering I noticed there was no sign to wait or seat yourself, so I waited. I waited for around 5 minutes. One of the servers walked next to me to serve a diner a glass of water and walked away without making eye contact or saying anything to me such as "just a minute". This is a complete lack of social skills or common courtesy. I was uncomfortable standing at the door waiting to be noticed, so I left and went to another restaurant. The lack of basic interpersonal communication skills by the floor staff makes me wonder if this place is fit to eat. I will not try this place again nor will I recommend it.

  • Julie S.

This place is fantastic. We had just a short wait for a table because this place is so popular. The staff is friendly and the food is great. Orange juice comes up to 32oz. Not just that but it was impossible to run out of coffee in my mug. They were attentive.

    (5)
  • dave m.

And made it back! This time around had a gyro, and it was wonderful! It was a little hard to eat as it was served open face (I much prefer the wrapped up and ready to peel version) but the flavor and house tzaziki made up for it.

  • Jamie C.

Walked in on a Sunday morning. It was busy. But so are all breakfast places on Sunday's. The staff just stared at us. We weren't sure if we seat ourselves or wait to be seated. Still they just stared at us. It felt like a locals only place or something. Won't be going back

    (1)
  • Gary F.

Fabulous. Like others, skeptical of Greek thing. Run, don't walk, to this local gem for breakfast!!! Country sausage was delicious, as was the locally sourced bacon. I am a pancake snob, and these were pretty good. Best thing - scored a bottle of homemade habanero pepper sauce. It is nothing short of perfect!!! Highly recommend. Homemade jams are excellent as well. Only downside was the coffee. A bit weak in the state that is known for excellence in this area.

    (4)
  • Mallayana B.

Everything here is delicious and everything has a special touch to it (including warming the syrup). The staff is sweet and funny. My only quip is that I wish they were open later!

I stopped in with a friend and her baby for mid-week brunch. It's a pretty cute place and I love that they serve breakfast all day. That is something that makes them an automatic winner to me! I had some fritatta, it had spinach, feta, and mushrooms. I had them leave out the onions. The hashbrowns that came with it were excellent. Since I can't have the gluten I was offerred my choice of fruit, tomatoes, or cottage cheese in the place of the toast the normally comes with the breakfast. Nice touch. I got fruit and should have asked what kind because it was watermelon. Barf. I'm not a melon fan. But my friend and her baby benefitted! The food was very good but I found the service to be lacking. I'm not sure if they were down a server that day or what but it seemed like there were too many customers for the only waitress who was working the morning I was in. I'll come back if I'm in North Everett and in need of some breakfast. It's nice that the waitstaff is knowledgeble in allergy information of menu items and that they offer an alternate to the missing toast or what not. Hopefully the servers will be more on top of it.

The soup was good. Cant say the same for their gyros. Some of the wall decorations there are offensive.

  • Russell B.

Friday morning, considering the crowd our food came surprisingly fast! High quality ingredients down to the 100% natural ketchup (no high fructose corn syrup!) Waiting staff was very friendly and attentive. First time impression, great place for breakfast all across the board!

  • Desiree B.

Friendly staff! I always get the eggs Benedict and I'm never disappointed! Not only great breakfast but a great lunch place as well! Best hole in the wall place I've ever found.

my Girlfriend insisted we go here telling me it was really good and she was right of course. I had the Greek scramble and it was Bursting with flavor absolutely amazing she had chicken fried steak not my first choice but it was good and the service was about 4 star. I will definitely eat here again.

This is just a great place to eat with good sized portions and fair prices. Everything I have tried on the Breakfast or Lunch menu has been top notch. Nice welcoming servers and always quick service even when busy.

A simple, short order local cafe. The staff is friendly and the food is good. The place is not fine dining; it's just a local cafe. I am a local and I eat here about 6 times a year. Their Greek fries are simply LOADED with feta!!! I upgrade my fries to Greek style 100% of the time. Greek style :) If you are in the mood for a simple breakfast or lunch, you will not go wrong stopping by this little eatery! Their house made habanero sauce is wonderful. Natural and low sodium.

Oh- Kate's; you refill my coffee endlessly before I have a chance to ask for it, your bacon is delicious, your waitresses are friendly and your eggs are perfect. My friend and I go to breakfast every Friday- it's the highlight of my week. We've been checking out the breakfast spots on Everett and trying to go to a different location every week but the second something goes awry (lack of parking, randomly closed etc) we just go back to Kate's because we know everything will be perfect. I get the ham and eggs (over-medium) with toast or the French toast. My friend gets the eggs and bacon and her niece gets a kitty cake (a kitty-shaped pancake!). My ham and eggs are delicious. The ham is juicy, the eggs are perfectly cooked and the hash browns are brown. The aforementioned coffee is admittedly not the best coffee in the world. It's not nearly as strong as I prefer it but I really can't honestly argue with the fact that I never have to ask for a refill. I'm not a huge fan of bacon but the other day my friend offered me some of hers and it was delicious. I had gone 30 years without eating real bacon and I finally understand why people love bacon so much (no hate- I'm sheltered from delicious food and it's my own doing). Kate's bacon is thick, juicy and savory. The French toast is also very good. It's nothing epic or fancy or crazy- it's just solid French toast served with warm maple syrup that is in a non-sticky container. You get six halves (or three whole pieces) and it's enough to fill me up. I think the French toast is $4-5. The freezer jam on the table is amazing. If it made dietary sense I'd eat it by the spoonful but instead I spread it sparingly on my toast. The ambiance is cozy and homey. Nothing is fancy or overdone but it's not ghetto and decrepit. It's just very simple. Warm. Inviting. It's clean and there's always been somewhere to sit and my six month-old has always been accommodated. You feel like the waitresses have worked there for years and would never dare go anywhere else and that every single other customer there is a regular (but not in an exclusive way). I highly recommend Kate's. Everywhere we go- we compare it to Kate's. Just don't go on Friday morning cause I'll be there and I don't want you taking my booth or listening in on the scintillating conversations I have with my friend.

Just celebrating their 9th year, Kate's is one of the few awesome breakfast places in downtown Everett. Years ago Kate was in partnership with a Greek couple and after buying them out, she has kept up the traditions of Greek diner food (if there is such a thing). We've tried their breakfasts several times. Gyro meat with your eggs and hash browns is a winning combo The place is small, but the wait is short due to the fast and efficient service of people like Hannah. Make sure you get here early on weekends, there could be a line by 9:00a.

Gyro scramble is my favorite! Home made hot sauce it hot and good! Servers are fun and talkative and atmosphere is relaxed. Love coming here for breakfast!

The bride and I were in need of a greasy spoon and found this place just a few blocks from Holiday Inn. I had the country Benny toast, sausage, scrambled eggs and country gravy on top. Not healthy but pretty tasty hash browns were good as well. the mrs. had eggs over medium and bacon also pretty good.

  • Mona M.

Great greasy spoon. It's a little crowded, there is almost always a line for breakfast and you don't get a lot of attention from the staff....they're too busy trying to keep the line down. Don't expect them to bring you or pick up your check, you may just have to walk it up to the register yourself and flag someone down to ring you up. As long as you know this going in, you won't expect too much and will have a better experience. I love their Greek scramble. Scramble with Gyro meat and feta? Yum!

Gyro and fries for $9.50 after tax at a sit down restaurant. Good food at a reasonable price. Very friendly and attentive waitresses. For their type of restaurant this def deserves 5 stars!

  • Jenn T.

I'm a total hole-in-the-wall-diner junkie & I LOVE KATE'S! Now if you're looking for fine dining with genuine silver & cloth napkins, this isn't your place. But if you're looking for real home cooked Greek American grub, Kate's is your place! I have never been disappointed with the quality of service or food... & the portion sizes are AH-MAZING! Oh- & the homemade freezer jam is to DIE for!!!

    (4)
  • Kate C.

I'm a barista at Espresso Avenue, which is a couple blocks away. While working weekend mornings I ask about what people are up to and most responses happen to be going to Kate's or coming back from Kate's. I have had awesome service every time I've been. But to top it off I have to say its one of the best places to get breakfast! I don't think there are many that could disagree with me here.

My son and I stopped into Kate's this afternoon. It is a cute hole in the wall restaurant, -- outdoor seating too, and good parking available in front. When we entered, no one acknowledged us - okay - no problem. We took a booth and eventually a waitress came by with menus and water. Plastic cups, melted ice cubes, and buzzing fruit flies on the glasses. The menu looked great - lots of choices. We both decided on a couple of Gyros combos. The food arrived promptly - maybe 10 minutes from the time we ordered. The food looked very nice, and the portions were good. The french fries were from fresh potatoes (beats frozen) -although a bit soft and absolutely no seasoning or salt on them. The Gyros were okay - the presentation was nice, the size was good, I just felt the flavor was a bit unimpressive. I also felt my waitress was a bit unimpressive too. Maybe because i am a former waitress and my expectations are too high, but a friendly greeting would have gone a long way and I kind of felt i was bothering her just being there. Overall, it was all just OK in my opinion. I would be willing to try it again, with all the good reviews here I may have just hit them on a bad day.

Kate's a a delicious place for breakfast in Everett. I have been there on several occasions. The food is always better than average as it the staff.

This place is great...I had a grilled reuben sandwich with Greek Salad and a side of pita. They make an excellent Habanero hot sauce that you can buy for 5 bucks a bottle, as well. The wait staff was friendly and service was very good. Highly recommended!

If I could give Kates 10 stars I would. The service: friendly..attentive...perfection. The food: totally awesome everytime. I love Kates!!

  • Brad E.

Good breakfast. I've been here twice and eaten egg scramble dishes. Both were very good. Service is fast. They keep the coffee full. Only issue is they don't open very early so if you want early breakfast you won't be able to come here.

  • Olystacy B.

This place rocks! I was visiting Everett and found this place on Yelp. Based on reviews I had high expectations and fellow Yelpers, you did not let me down. The food is delicious and plentiful. No scrimping on portions or quality. I had a lamb gyro and it was AMAZING. It was huge, with a lot of meat, unlike a lot of Gyro places that give you 4 or 5 strips of meat and call it good. Their tazhiki sauce was very tasty! The greek fries? OMG. I almost had a food orgasm. They were hand cut fries with feta cheese and some secret something on them. WOW. The place is a little ma and pa place with eccentric but cute decorations. Service was attentive but not annoying - just the way I like it. Friendly server. Food was out quickly. Nothing to complain about here. Everything was amazing. This is a hidden gem. Next time I am in Everett, this will be my first stop.

A great place in Downtown Everett for breakfast. We love the omelettes and I also had a great reuben sandwich for lunch on one visit. The staff is friendly and the service is usually pretty quick. The only drawback might be the wait for your table as it's been busy almost every time we eaten here.

    (5)
  • Heather J.

I've eaten here a handful of times over years. I'm not a huge breakfast fan so I enjoy that I can order off the lunch menu while others have breakfast. Like most Greek places they have a few vegetarian items available. They are very accommodating to special requests as well. This place can get crowded, especially on weekend mornings. Service is still good though and they keep the coffee coming. They do close early though so dinner is not an option.

  • Monica J.

I have been coming here since it opened almost 10 years ago. Kate is the best, she takes care of all if her customers . Kate's is like second home for my family when we are busy and can't cook. Great food, great service!

  • Mary J G.

We came with a big group and the staff accommodated all 12 of us...great customer service and great breakfast! I had the Veggie Benny...I'm usually a big carnivore but decided to try something different. I was not disappointed. I will definitely have to go back to try the other items on their menu.

Breakfast was amazing. Had the gyro scramble, a must get it you like gyro meat & feta cheese. Service was quick and pleasant. And prices were reasonable. Will definitely be going back regularly!

My gyro omelet took the shape of a small pan, very underwhelming. It covered half a pan of hash browns. Hash browns were all right but the omelet was dry and lacked flavor. GF got the french toast, said they were underwhelming also.

BEST breakfast joint in Everett!! I live within walking distance and after a night of too many whisky sours, this is the best place to cure the hangover. I would NOT call this a greasy spoon. I am VERY picky where I will eat. This is one of my favs because ALL of their food is fresh and delivered hot and homemade. I always get the Gyro Scramble. I don't like onions and they are always happy to sub it with mushrooms or something else. It's full of yummy gyro meat, FRESH SPINACH, feta cheese, tomotos and it's SOOOO yummy. It comes with toast and hasbrowns. The hasbrowns are pretty good. I would prefer home made fried potatoes but I will live with it. The service is always prompt and very friendly. Yes, this is your typical hole in the wall with furniture that looked like it was taken from a lot of different dining rooms. However, here's the difference, this place is clean! As long as a joint has great food and is clean and decent service, I will always be back. I need to try the reuben but I can't get enough of the Gyro special. Awesome place. You won't be disappointed.

I've been here three times for breakfast. Each time I've gone, the food and service have been great. A friend recommended this place and I'm glad I went. It's by far the best breakfast place in Everett.

I wish I'd known about this place sooner. I had the pancake sandwich, which is basically like a lumberjack slam that you'd get at Denny's. Unlike Denny's, everything I had was packed full of flavor. Make sure to try their homemade hot sauce and bacon! Their link sausages and hash browns are also really good!

  • Misty H.

Kate's is a great neighbor spot. It feels like having breakfast or lunch in your own kitchen and the wait staff feels like family members. Breakfast on the weekends can get the very small space very packed. But we have never waited long. Today we came in at 11 and were able to sit with 6 people right away. I had a falafel gyro with a side of gyro meat and Greek fries, it was delicious as usual. The fries are made with fresh cut potatoes and the gyro meat is moist and so flavorful, I also like the gyro meat breakfast plate. Also, their bacon is one of the best in town. Between Wendy's Country Kitchen down the street and the Totem just south, I live in a perfect bacon triangle! Don't forget to read their specials boards before you make your menu decision!

Superb service. This place is my new favorite simply because Kate and her staff make you feel so welcome. Plus the sausage is very tasty!

I cannot believe Ive never wrote a review for this place. Every time my husband and i are like, I don't feel like cooking, lets go to breakfast We go to kates. The Spanakopita is flaky and wonderful and we get it every time as a starter, no matter what time it is. The Greek fries are the best. Ive ordered them other places and always compare to kates, and nothing matches up. Somehow they are more lemony? More feta? More olive oil? I don't know, just fantastic. I don't get them every time, but when I do, it hits the spot. My husband and I usually share the gyro scramble. Its defiantly big enough for two, along with the Spanakopita . My daughter always gets the kitty pancakes. Pancakes with a kitty smiley face. Also, they have big buckets of kids toys, just got to know where to find them. So my 6 year old entertains herself with little toys till we eat. A total A+ that my hubby and I get to just enjoy our coffee. The homemade hot sauce is the best. We also bought a bottle to take home, but do be careful, it is very hot and a lot goes a long way. Service is always good, amd i enjoy the local art they have. Love you guys!

In town to meet a friend for brunch. Searched Yelp for a place to eat (of course!) Decided on Kate's because of the great reviews. Right away I felt that wonderful feeling when you walk in and the place is hopping. People chatting away and everyone seemed so happy. A very nice waitress stood out to me because of her big smile and genuine warmth exuding from her. I wondered if she were the place's name sake. We were fortunate enough to get her table. Sure enough, it was Kate herself! Such a nice lady. She seemed to be enjoying the atmosphere just as much as everyone else there. I ordered the Franky's scramble. Delicious. The hash browns were done perfectly. Something you don't ever see consistently. And like many others have mentioned, the bacon is the best I've ever had at a restaurant. And I've had Bill the Butcher's bacon at home....So good. I digress. The highlight for me, a habenero chili lover, was their homemade habenero sauce. Not just heat, but so flavorful, full bodied and fairly dense. No watered down stuff here. And, it is so nice to have a choice other than the typical Tabasco offering. Our service was top notch and my coffee cup was never more than half empty. Will be bringing the spouse here again soon!

The reviews don't lie, Gyro scramble beats anything from IHOP or Denny's hands down. Waitresses are always very nice and keep that coffee coming.

This is our favorite breakfast spot. We compare all other breakfast to Kates. We love their eggs benidict and my husband gets sausage benny. Oh and her handmade hot sauce is great.

Kate's is a great local restaurant that retains its local diner feeling. My most recent visit was on a busy on the weekend. There was a wait, but the tables turned over pretty quickly, and we had our table after a few minutes. Service is good. The staff is attentive, taking our orders quickly and keeping our drinks filled. The kitchen is equally quick once the order was placed the food came rapidly. I like coming here for their gyros and Greek fries. The pita is so loaded with delicious gyro meat and fixings that it is near impossible to eat without making a mess. And that's a good thing - I've had some pretty anemic gyros before at other restaurants. The Greek fries are fries with olive oil and feta. Its delicious combination that works well with the gyro.

A Diamond in the rough! This place is well worth the trip to downtown Everett! Used yelp to look up mom and pop breakfast places. Thought it sounded weird to have breakfast at a greek place but glad I made the trip. Customer Service is the first thing I have to talk about. Its hard to find great customer service which is one thing that will set this place apart. It's seat yourself but they are quick to clear tables. Water came as soon as we sat down and they even brought water in a sippy cup for my 1 year old! Coffee refills without asking. We didn't have to sit around and wait for our check at the end of the meal. Price is great for the amount of food you get. We saw people bragging about the gyro scramble and country fried steak...so thats exactly what we got. Both plates lived up to the reviews. Hot sauce was awesome! FYI:They do charge a split plate charge of 1.00 which is great. Most places charge 4.00 or more. They will not charge split plate charge if you are sharing with a child. 4 meals for around 40.00 bucks. Will come back and will tell you its a must! We will be telling our friends!

Kate's is wonderful. By the third time I ordered the same omelet they almost start making it when I walk in. The staff treats each other like family, and include us. It's a classic restaurant, with Greek overtones, although Kate is Irish! Her Greek omelette and scrambles are the best! Not only do I go on my own, I bring my family, friends and people from work. Oh, and don' t forget to check out the best homemade hot sauce ever made, but don't use too much, unless you're me, lol!

Had a breakfast meeting here with the sales staff today. Kate's was delicious! Fresh, hot, yummy eggs benedict and crispy hash browns...and in a very eclectic atmosphere. It's a little north of most of Everett's strip of restaurants, so there was plenty of parking. Coffee not so great, but hey, just hit starbucks when breakfast is done!

They don't burn or under-cook the food! Which is the big downfall of most breakfast places. Everything tastes better than it should. The service is great, coffee is always hot and full.

I had to try this place again after reading the reviews. I think sometimes the experiences we have at restaurants, as well as so many other places in life, are due to our own personalities as much as others. I had a positive approachable attitude and this might have reflected how the staff acted towards me. My server, though young, was as attentive as I needed. (I loved that she didn't even seam to have a cell phone). I felt welcome and disarmed by the decor. This place was clean and orderly. I had a breakfast plate the time I visited before. It was a great meal. I decided to go with something not breakfasty this time. I had the Ruben and it was delicious. This showed me that they are not a one hit wonder. The price was perfectly reasonable. Overall I would have to say that this is a place I will gladly dine at again. In fact dine at regularly.

For a tiny place in downtown Everett, this place is worth the trip. Big portions of very well made food. Service was a bit on the slow side but every seat was taken and there was a line. I'll be back again.

This place is adorable. I love homey little restaurants like this one. The food is great. The staff is friendly. Kate is a pretty rad person as well. Come check it out!

Solid food, and lots of it, at very reasonable prices. Service was friendly and pretty fast, considering the place was already packed with the early lunch rush, at 11:45 on a weekday. I had the gyros combo, and while it's not gourmet-superstar food, it's tasty, well-prepared, attractively presented, and the portions are impressive. The tzatziki was pungent with flavor, the meat was savory, and they were generous with the feta and veggies. I'll definitely go back; it's easy walking distance and is exactly the warm, relaxed, well-lit, unpretentious atmosphere I like for lingering over a late breakfast with a friend. But even if I lived on the other side of town, Kate's would be well worth the trip.

Twice in 24 hours, oh yes Its that good! I have spent the last two days enjoying lunch at Kates and i love this place. The good thing for me is that its only .7 miles away from my house. my bigass is walking there baby..... the goods.... food=4 service=5 cleanliness=4 atmosphere=5 selection=5 price=5 what i like...... very friendly service and great food...if you love yee-ro's you will love Kates.....the service is very nice and very pleasant to serve you. they are smiling and playful with kids, makes the restaurant seem more like your best friends moms kitchen. the food is delicious, i have had the normal 70% beef 30% lamb yee-ro both times and enjoy their great greek fries.... i am not a huge feta fan and have never thought of feta on freedom fries being good, but its delicous and addictive to no end. THeir greek fries are worth sharing with your lover and definately a must try. the bad..... there is none! i love this place if you are within 20 minutes of DT everett and are looking for a yummy all american breakfast or a fun twist on Greek food, then come to Kates and see why i have lived there for the last two days....its worth your time and well deserved money

Love Kates! Very friendly staff, yummy scrambles, amazing (and very hot) homemade hot sauce. All in all this is a great, down home breakfast joint and I highly recommend. I only took off one star because I think the decor/atmosphere could use a little spicing up.

Good food, great staff, however, way over priced. I had one of their scrambles along with one pancake cost me 15.58 plus a 2$ tip. Paying 17.58 is a bit much for a breakfast.

We went for breakfast. I ordered the Joe's scramble. It was so good. The hash browns were crispy and the habanero hot sauce is very tasty. My hubby ordered the biscuits and gravy. He said it was some of the best b's and g's he has had!! Loved the good. We will definitely be going back soon!!

  • Amy H.

Loved everything about this place! The staff was friendly and efficient. The decor was out-of-control cute. It was small, but not crowded...like a little Everett treasure. The food was brilliant. I had a Denver omelet...boring, right? Wrong! They make the omelets fritatta style, which I love...and they used red and yellow peppers instead of green...which is a preferred flavor combination. My sister had the gyro, and seemed quite happy with it...it was huge and looked delicious. If I were local I would be a regular.

  • Mark A.

I should of had the breakfast. Unfortunately I had the gyros and Greek fries. Wasn't a fan. The fries came with the usual feta cheese but were sitting in a pool of Greek salad dressing so they were soggy by the time I ate them. The gyros was drenched in the tzatziki sauce and was made of Greek dressing again. Everything was just tossed on top of a cold pita so I could only eat it with a knife and fork. This was defiantly More of an American food spot than Greek. Based on the fact I wanted Greek I gave it 2 stars.

I don't know when or if I have ever been so won over by a restaurant on my first visit as I was with Kate's Greek and American! I learned a long time ago, if a restaurant has great iced tea the food will match. Kate's has great iced tea. I read about the huge servings with some skepticism. I am a hearty eater. I ordered the chicken fried steak and eggs. Wow! This puts all other chicken fried steaks in the area to shame. The gravy was nice and peppery. The steak was tender and flavorful. The eggs and hash browns were cooked perfectly. The service was great. The little things were above average too. The whole wheat toast was unusually dense and tasty. The homemade freezer jam sure beats those plastic packets at other places. The home made hot sauce is not fooling either. I could barely finish the generous sized servings. I love this place and only wish It was closer to where I live...or maybe not. My chunk would probably expand rapidly. The atmosphere is casual, down home, unpretentious and somehow conveys you are about to get some really good food.

Best place good, greasy breakfast foods. Quaint little hole in the wall joint. Decent customer service. Awesome homemade hot sauce.

The new wait staff was aweful. We were ignored for 15 mins before getting a menu or water. When our water got to us i asked the waittress if we could place our order. She said "no, there are people ahead of you.". She proceeded to take orders from people that arrived after us. After being at the place for 50 mins i let them know i had to return to work. I had to inform the owner my food was not ready and needed it to go i waited another 10 mins only to get the wrong order! i finally got my food after more than an hour wait (the restuarant was not very busy). I will not be back. It's a shame because they do have good food.

  • Sarah D.

Super solid, delish food. The hubby had a gyro scramble and I had felafel. Both were filling, fresh and yummy. The portions were really generous, so next time we go I will order on the smaller side. Hubby's hashbrowns were sooo perfect. They had just the right amount of crunch and flavor. The decor is goofy and very downhome and the service makes you feel like you are visiting friends. I just wish they had dinner hours. I guess that means I have to do lunch more often :)

  • Heather M.

One of my favorite places for breakfast food. Hole in the wall diner so expect a little bit of a wait at peak times, seat yourself service. Giant pancakes, portion sizes won't leave you hungry at all. I usually order the "Pancake sandwich" (which is pancake, eggs and bacon or sausage) but today branched out and tried the biscuits with sausage and sausage gravy and scrambled eggs. Very good. You won't be disappointed.

Kate's is a great place for breakfast or lunch! I love that they have Greek and American food and do both well! On the breakfast menu, the bacon is amazing. So good. At lunchtime, the gyros are a tasty choice. I have never been unhappy with the food or service at Kate's.

The portions are big and the service is good. I've only had breakfast hear and it was awesome. I got a huge pancake (probably the biggest ive ever had) This place can get a little crowded on the weekends but I've never really had to wait for a seat. I only gave them four stars because it seems a little pricey to me. Not a cheap breakfast but definitely a good one.

Good food, decent prices, good portion sizes. Overall I had a good experience. I came here with my aunt & uncle when I was visiting them. They live in Marysville and are regulars of Kate's. The homemade hot sauce was spicyyy but tasty. I even bought a bottle to take home with me for my dad. It was $5. I ordered the corned beef hash and eggs. Pretty tasty. Perfectly cooked eggs (I'm very picky. I like them over-medium-well). My favorite part was the hot sauce.

  • Lynne K.

The food was excellent. Been coming here for years. We have never left dissapointed. Chicken fried steak is to die for. Full of flavor and cruchy. The gravy was creamy and hax the wondedfull taste of sausage. The greek salad was perfection on a plate. This has always been the best breakfast that we can never pass up

Very fun room, with inviting, comfy chairs (yet easy for people with disabilities to get in and out of) and of course, the food is wonderful. The kind of place where the first thing you order ends up being what you have every visit, because its so good. Great staff and other customers are friendly, too.

  • Christopher J.

Service was a bit slow but I can't hold to big a grudge on them they were crazy busy on a Sunday morning...go figure. Anyway the Mediterranean scramble was awesome lots of stuff in it and the fresh basil aroma gets you salivating before you know it. One very cool thing is if you choose not to eat toast and hashbrowns they offer cottage cheese and fresh fruit!!!

  • Kerri J.

This must be a breakfast only place because my husband and i went here for lunch and the food was horrible. All I ordered was a Greek salad and chicken suvlaki. The chicken was inedible. I did not know it was possible for chicken to be that chewy! Everything else was also really really gross and we will never go back...well okay, maybe we'll give it a shot for breakfast one day.

    (1)
  • Brooke S.

Hmmm. Chicken strips were great and my house salad had fabulous homemade ranch dressing. But...there's a bit of a cafeteria feel to it. It was WAY cold in there! And LOUD. I like my diners to feel a little more cozy. Service was a touch slow but very friendly. Again, the food was good. The atmosphere was lacking. It's definitely not gonna trump The Totem!

  • Ann G.

I definitely would and have recommended Kate's to people. It's a great place to go for breakfast. People in Everett know about this place so on a weekend it will be busy.

    (4)
  • Thomas D.

I have been there many times. Just a great place for breakfast. The owner is very often on the floor and her husband behind the stove cooking. Service is usually very good. The young ladies do a great job keeping up with the flow of people. I have watched it go from a place with a concrete floor with paint splatters on the floor to a place with a nice wood floor. It is a bit ecclectic in decore. A bit cluttered and obvious waitress stuff in view of diners. Great value for the food quality. Food is delivered hot. Try their homeade hot sauce..yes it is hot. They will sell it to you.

This is a sweet cozy place. Went on a Sat Morning for breakfast. Parking right in front, plenty of tables full, but still got seated, got a menu and a water right away. Waitress was nice, friendly, small talk. I got the mediteranian something, but the small order.... WTH, why is every place in WA huge portions?!?! not that i'm complaining but WTH!?!? I get a small and its huge. Mediteranian had basil, tomatoes, spinach, olives, cheese i think and eggs. hash brown and i ordered wheat bread. Tasted fine, hot and fresh. Hash brown was fresh hot and crunchy...good food. After some more small talk, and more customers, it was time to leave, but very slow to leave, there was no rush to scoot me out. Nice place.

Went for lunch last Friday and had a blast! Kate has just the perfect mixture of sass and class to make everyone feel at home. I had the BLT (awesome bacon, fresh not hanging around a warmer tray in the back) w/fries (perfectly cooked, not limp, not burnt). Another member of our party had the biscuits & gravy with eggs and was very relieved to actually receive "over easy" eggs (he says most times he orders it, he usually gets over medium). All in all, worth having breakfast or lunch at least once or twice a month!

  • Gus T.

This is probably the best place to have breakfast (and possibly lunch) in Everett. I came here around noon on Sunday with my youngest son. The place was packed but we still managed to find a table. Considering the amount of people there, we received quick service and the waitress was very upbeat and attentive. The food was absolutely great! The decor and atmosphere made you feel right at home. I had the chef's omelette, with hashbrowns, and whole wheat toast with homemade blackberry preserve. My son had a Gyro, we both tasted food from each other's plate and we both agreed that both the dishes were excellent. The breakdown: food quality=5 quantity=5 service=5 cleanliness=5 atmosphere=5 selection=5 price=4

My daughter gave this restaurant 5 stars...my husband and I give it 4.75. The service was GREAT, the atmosphere is very welcoming and the food was awesome. I especially appreciate the option to order a smaller portion from the regular menu (which is still a very good sized meal). We went for breakfast, so touches like having the syrup stay warm in a container of hot water really made a difference. Compostable To Go boxes were another great touch. The only thing I missed (which I know makes me kind of a jerk) was Wi-Fi. We will definitely go back for lunch.

Comfortable and popular neighborhood place. We've been here for breakfast, this was our first time for lunch. I had a chicken gyro, and never again. Flavorless chewy lumps of chicken. What's the point? The greek fries were good, at least the ones my wife didn't steal first. I got even, took a healthy bite out of her pretty good french dip. Will stick to breakfasts for future visits.

My wife and I go to Kate's pretty much every weekend for breakfast. We spent a long time trying different breakfast places in the north Seattle area, but none of them come close to Kate's lovely place. The portions at breakfast are huge, Kate is friendly, the cooks can often be heard singing in the kitchen while cooking, and the price is cheap. What more do you want in a breakfast joint? The coffee is standard breakfast coffee, but hey, it's a breakfast joint, not Starbucks :) Our favourite is the Franco scramble, a wonderful pile of fluffy scrambled eggs with fresh cut bacon, onions, tomatoes, and cheese. Tasty tasty tasty good. And they have Freezerves jam! Just right!

  • Eric D.

Kate's is our favorite breakfast place in all of Snohomish County!! The Gyro scramble is the best breakfast ever! The home-made hot sauce has a great kick and and excellent non-vinegary flavor. Every table has the most excellent local freezer jam (Think English Muffin here)! ...and the HASHBROWNS are PERFECT! L-O-V-E the hashbrowns! We've been going there for a few years now, and its consistent and great tasting every time! A must-try for the breakfast lover.

Best breakfast in Everett. Fantastic food, and a nice wait staff as well. I've just visited for the first time, but they seem to know a lot of the customers' names. They have specials daily and are only open for until about 3pm. Tried the bacon and eggs...awesome bacon!

We were led to Kate's via one of those coupon book deals. Being new to Everett, I had no idea this was a local favorite until we got there, and saw how busy it was. We went at 10am on a Sunday morning, and this breakfast and lunch place was already packed to the gills, with folks waiting. The pricing on the menu seemed incredibly reasonable. More so, after I saw how massive the portions were. I ordered the lamb souvlaki and egg breakfast, and my husband ordered the spinach and feta cheese omelet. I believe the prices were under $9 for each meal, and we could have honestly split either meal, and still been stuffed by the end of it. My eggs were perfectly done, and not overcooked. The hashbrowns were great, and my toast was perfect. The lamb was a tad bit overdone, but the sauce that came with it mitigated any issues. It was all incredibly good, and I would definitely order the dish again. The hubby wolfed down his meal so fast, I didn't even get a chance to taste his omelet. I literally blinked, and his plate was clean. I think, if he thought it could have gotten away with it, he would have licked the plate. For being so packed, the service was dead on. I never once had to look around for my waitress. There was someone there magically whenever I needed anything. Considering it was standing room only by the time we left, that was an impressive feat. I'll definitely be going back to eat there again.

We have had a few not so hot experiences here. Today was really bad. The waitress wasn't paying us much attention, the lamb was too tough to eat and the eggs were horribly runny and gross. We were pretty disappointed.

I Love this place! The food is amazing and service is real. You don't get that fake I want to please you and then go in the kitchen and talk crap about you with my co-workers service you get everywhere else. They are sassy and I love it.

Great value, awesome gyro scramble. Gotta try the hot sauce made by Hanna's father. I can't think of a better breakfast place.

Visiting from out of town and decided to check this place out on a whim. Service was great and the food was even better. Huge portions, you could almost split an omelet! The hot sauce, which is apparently homemade was excellent. If I lived in Everette, I would be a regular!

Kate's is the real deal when it comes to a neighborhood restaurant. The serving sizes are huge and the quality of food is excellent. Plus - Kate and the rest of the crew are just nice people to spend some time with. It's like dropping by a friend's house.

  • Forest J.

I ate here today based on all the reviews. Had the Greek Scramble. Eggs were overdone, hash browns were very greasy and toast was very greasy too. Was very disappointed. Not sure why people like this place. Oh, wanted to say the waitress was very nice. So two stars.

A Great place for a big breakfast. Quick service, friendly staff. Love the Gyro's Scramble. Freezer jam is a blast from the past. You won't leave hungry or dissatisfied.

  • Brian R.

This is a great spot to enjoy breakfast with one's family. They're also open for lunch but I can't comment on their lunch fare. I've been here a few times, and my wife and I always get the same three to four items to share: the gyro omelette, biscuits & gravy, blueberry pancakes, and the greek fries depending how hungry we're feeling. I highly suggest all the above, also suggesting their homemade hot sauce, for those who like their eggs to have a bit of a kick.

    (5)
  • K E.

Everett has a scarcity of good breakfast restaurants, but Kate's rarely lets people down in the cafe food department. They close at 3PM and have pretty much the same menu all day long. Be sure to check the board for the specials. The portions are huge and like most reviews have noted the Greek fries are probably the favorite. My husband likes the traditional gyro plate and I prefer the eggs Benedict. They can be slow and crowded on the weekends, but are chill on the weekdays.

    (4)
  • G D.

Good food, good service, and great homemade hot sauce. Be sure and take some home with you. Kitchy and casual, and you need to have a little patience. Staff are friendly and place is usually busy, and it's best if you are not in a hurry,

My favorite place for breakfast in Downtown on a sunday morning. It's a relatively small place, but the interior is bright and cheery. It's often busy, but the service is excellent and their eggs benedict florentine is the best I've had.

  • K O.

Very, very good breakfast joint. I highly recommend the Gyro Omlette/Frittata, with a good application of Kate's homemade Habanero hot sauce--it is the best breakfast you can find in Everett. They will do breakfast to go, which is great for me on Sundays when I'm dragged into work for weeks straight.

  • Jill B.

Awesome service, awesome food, just great all the way around. Kate is a hoot and she has personality and the people she has hired do too. Prices are great, good quantities of food (I always have leftovers), food has flavor - the omlets are to die for!!! On a sunday, go early and beat the churchy crowds, though.

A great little neighborhood spot in North Everett. The owner Kate is always there waiting tables. After a few visits she'll remember your name. A few more and she'll know what you drink. The food is very good. Portions are generous. I recommend the greek fries. They always have great breakfast specials. The only down side - not open for dinner.
