I thought for a few minutes before I wrote this review.... Because the food isn't unique or fancy, but this place is a warm, small ma&pa diner where Dennis and the staff welcome you with a warm smile and a pot of hot coffee. They make amazing muffins, and delicious cookies that are different everyday. The environment and folks in here remind me of everything that's good and happy and simple in life. They treat their customers like family. Like the other reviewers, I found my half order of eggs huge (their half was probably good for 3 meals for me). I really hope they do well and keep those cookies coming!

Great food with large meal portions. This is a true blooded ma and pa place, the type of place that made America great. If you are in the area...YOU MUST STOP AND TRY THIER BREAKFAST.

5 stars for the muffins. 3 stars for the rest of the food. We stopped in here on our way to Mt Rainer for some hiking. Since I was hungover, I knew I needed something with gravy. Gravy makes everything better. We started with one each of the kettle muffins, the cinnamon and the blueberry. Both were seriously fantastic, but if I had to choose a favorite, I'd go with the blueberry. This place is definitely known for the quantity of food. I don't really know how they make money. I had a ham/egg/cheese sandwich on sourdough and a side of hash-browns covered in gravy. Both were good, but there was so much food I could only eat half. All of that for only $9. The boy had some biscuits and gravy, which were covered in bacon and cheese!!!! The food is fine, good enough that if I was in the area again I would go back. If nothing else though, go for some muffins.

The owner Dennis has owned the Kettle for years. It has moved around a bit but it has great muffins that are made every morning and the food portions are huge (get a half order first). One of my fondest memories about the kettle is Dennis making my first Mickey Mouse pancake. They still make them today. It's like walking into Cheers its always the same faces Debbie, Shawna, Dennis, Enumclaw Policce and Fire Dept. Its just a wonderful place.

Great place to load yourself with pounds of potatoes. Sure the plates are enormous and look crazy when they arrive, but you'll see that most of the mass is just pounds of underlying potatoes. Good diner food though. The breakfast meats, thick-sliced bacon and sausage, are killer! They also make a perfect poached egg - not that Im into that, but a friend ordered it and they looked fantastic. They also serve fresh muffins and boy are they tasty! If you order a full order which is only about $1 more, you'll find plenty to take home. Instead order it and split it with another. I always stop in here when in town and I'm never disappointed ... that is, unless they stick me in the back room, where there's no windows and very little air.

Home cooking, and they pass around a tray of fresh baked cookies, local spot, servers and customers seem to be on a first name base. An older croud too.

We were in town for the Dog Shows and went to the Kettle Cafe for brunch on Sunday. What an awesome choice! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted like family. Our waiter was just THE BEST - kept the coffee coming while we waited for our food, and laughing the whole time. A real charmer with a wicked sense of humor. When the food arrived - everyone was stunned, first at the extremely generous portions and then by the great tasting food. We will be back next year for sure - THANK YOU for a wonderful Sunday brunch!

Their hash browns and pancakes and bacon are super good. I think that you should give them a go! My mom said that the muffins are good, too. - Sydney, age 9

It is with dissapointment I write this review. While I read the reviews on Yelp, I do not rely on them. There are many critical reviews of this cafe and many are spot on. First, this place is a very friendly welcoming environment, the staff are very nice. Second (almost even first), the biscuits are REALLY good. Third, and unfortunately from there it gets mediocre. The eggs are over cooked. The coffee is OK/good, and according to my fiance the waffles are good. I myself was not pleased with my meal. I went with the meatlover's scrammble. Now when I see the word "love" my expectations are high, this must be one of their flagship options, right? And given the portion size, you would expect it to be something they are very proud of, such as to be put on display. My expectations were not in anyway met. This is a very bland meal. It is difficult to tell the difference between the potato, egg, or sausage. They all looked the same, tasted the same, and had the same texture. The bacon was hard to find and appeared to be the bits one would put over a salad. My fiance felt sorry for me and let me have a peice of hers. At one point I described it as having the consistency of a breakfast casserole. Problem is I have had much better breakfast casseroles as office potlucks. This scramble needs more bacon, sausage with more flavor and more eggs then potato to even be called a scramble.

A rather ordinary looking building on the side of the road yet offers quality food, huge servings and moderate prices. Shared a breakfast scramble and had to leave some at that! Staff are very friendly and food is served quickly. One of those marvelous local favorites that appeals to everyone.

  • Suzy J.

No. No. No. OMG just because portions are grossly huge doesn't mean the food quality is good. It was pretty much a humungous plate of non-tasty potatoes. Very bland and boring, too expensive for tasteless food. We will not go back.

I love everything about this place! Food is awesome, waitresses are the SWEETEST, and the decor is just beautifully hilarious. The owner has a small obsession with pigs... This is homestyle country food. Not some fancy schmancy organic Seattle shit. They do what they do great. It's Enumclaw. Get over it. If you're in the area it's a great place to stop, but don't drive all the way here from "civilization" expecting something gourmet.

  • Clayton J.

Are you serious? I guess when you live in the country, any hot mess passes as a meal. The reason this place is such a secret is probably because anyone that drives here from Civilization chalks up this overrated fare as a local favorite. Much like The Sunbreak Café in Auburn, this is just a hot steamy mess of slop. Eggs are overcooked, potatoes are not crisp and in the end it taste like someone cleaned up the grill by scraping it on your plate! Both my girlfriend and I were thoroughly disappointed with the meal. She was however half out of her mind over the muffins. They did smell amazingly fresh, but not being a muffin man, at least that kind, I didn't have one. See that, she loved the muffins and not the meal, our server was kind enough to send us away with a half dozen muffins on the house do to our lack of satisfaction with the meal. Normally I encourage people to try bad places so they can see for themselves how over-inflated the ratings are, but in this case I am warning you that the food is not worth the long drive to "The Claw".

A friend recommended The Kettle. So I drove from Federal Way to Enumclaw to try it. It was was worth e drive. They were busy but servive was friendly and fast. Price really good, for the amount of food you get. Bathroom was really clean. I ordered the Monte Cristo, I haven't seen one on a menu in years. It was wonderfull. My brother ordered ham &cheese omlet with hash browns. I ate 1/4 of my sandwich and he managed to finish his omlet but had a plateful of potatoes left. We took enough food home to last the rest of the day and into the morning. It is a terrific place. They are only open till 2pm for breakfast and lunch and so worth the drive.

I have NEVER seen this much food for breakfast! Plan on skipping lunch! Most of the menu choices have 1/2 orders available. The food was great. Tasted just like it was made by grandma herself! We drove 45 minutes from Tacoma to get here and we WILL do it again! The service was awesome. Coffee was hot and they kept it coming. They make fresh muffins that come with almost every meal and they are the best around. We were surprised to see the amount of food that came with such a great price. 2 thumbs up on this little charm! For once I have NOTHING to complain about. This place is a keeper. :o)

I love me a good Kettle breakfast. We have friends who live out toward Enumclaw, and one of our favorite get-togethers is to meet here for brunch on the weekend. As other Yelpers have stated, the portion sizes are gi-normous! Come to this place *hungry*, or order a half order, or share with a friend. Oh, or order the full portion, then take home left overs for a yummy breakfast tomorrow... Be advised that this is a popular joint. That means you will probably have to wait for a table on the weekends, especially after Sunday church services. The people waiting in line are usually very friendly and nice to chat with, so the wait time goes quickly. The owner, Dennis, is well known in the community and is a real nice guy. He often comes around to say hello to patrons as they dine. The muffins, also quite large in proportion, are incredible. They are made fresh every morning. Also, the menu is mainly breakfast items. They only serve breakfast and lunch. Don't quote me on this, but I think breakfast is offered during all open hours. That's all I have ordered when I've dined here, so I cannot offer a review of the lunch meals. Here's a good plan--- do a little day hike out past the fairgrounds, toward Mud Mountain Dam. Great place for a light morning hike! Then come here for a hearty breakfast afterward. I do agree with the Yelpers who say their coffee is so/so. But I am not coming here for the coffee. Pass me a cinnamon muffin with a little butter, and I am good!

HUGE PORTIONS! For all you "do gooders" out there this is one small step you can do to better the world. Eat at The Kettle, order a Scrambler, eat as much as you can, take your leftovers, there will be TONS, send them to a 3rd world country of your choosing, and you will have ended hunger in that region!! A Nobel Peace Prize will be mailed to you shortly. In all seriousness, the portions here are huge. Food is very good though, and if you are heading up the mountain for a morning of skiing or nursing a hangover on Sunday morning, you can't do much better then The Kettle. GREAT BREAKFAST spot! Addendum: Service here is wonderful! Staff is VERY friendly and are swift like gazelles with whatever you need.

The muffins are out of this world, baked to heavenly perfection! I always get the scramble and its enough to feed a village of urban dwellers. I usually get the huckleberry and its worth all 10$. This is a good place to take your mom or grandma out for brunch. I recommend trying it at least once!

Having grown up in the area, I have been here several times. I recently went as an adult and throught I would review based on that experience only. I went with my sis and her boyfriend. We got there are the perfect time, just before they got quite busy. We sat down and service was a bit slow to get coffee and take our orders so they brought us some complimentary muffins (which my dad later enjoyed). I ordered basic breaky, eggs, ham, hasbrowns. Sis had a half scramble, which came with at-least 3/4 cup of cheddar cheese on top (very cheesy!). Her BF had cornbeef hash and it looked good. Servings are huge, share! Even the 1/2 order is WAY more then 1 person should eat. The decor is basic greasy country spoon- good interesting stuff to look at! Ideally they aren't super busy when you get there and then you can just seat yourself! SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL BUSINESSES!!

home sweet enumclaw though enumclaw is known for their horse and pony show, there is now, another reason to visit this small town on your way to the mountains: the kettle. the portions are huge (the pancakes are the size of yo face!) and their food is delicious. The mood is really set by their fluffy perfectly baked kettle muffin and their wonderful waitresses. I wish i got the name of our server, because she was awesome. She called me and my friend "lady bugs" and the whole small town charm was exuding from her. i couldn't have been a happier city slicker. :) then the muffins came... oh those sweet, delicious, steamy, fluffy muffins... drool. they're so good that it can make a grumpy girl who got rained on the night before from camping into a happy unicorn. as for the food... it's good, it's huge, it's filling. (insert that's what she said here.) i got the green water scramble with the hasbrowns on the side and it was perfect. my friends dishes were all okay, but really, i don't know what they do with their baked goods but it's pretty awesome. the pancakes were also perfectly cooked and fluffy as were the waffles. drool. so come here, get your small town charm on and eat to your heart's delight... and if you're grumpy... then come here so you can turn into a happy unicorn.

The breakfasts are just too damn big; and the cheese, please just a little bit of cheese....otherwise, quit complaining and enjoy the largest breakfast you'll ever see. The Buckley scramble lasts me all day- must be 10 million calories in the thing. Great muffins. Hell I was full after the muffin. Great staff always helps!

I like small towns, small town diners, but don't think this one measures up. I made the trip out to Enumclaw for this breakfast place that everyone raves about. I have been making the breakfast rounds lately, and I am big breakfast guy. Nothing makes me happier than a big plate of eggy, cheesy hash. This place did not meet my expectations. Let me start with a positive: before our meal, they brought out some wonderful, warm, light, fluffy, blueberry muffins. This is how I like my muffins, more like bread than a muffin, not oily, not heavy. I had ordered the Corned Beef Hash. The first red flag was when it came out of the kitchen 10 minutes after I ordered it. When it came, I had about 2lbs of potatoes with a sprinkling of corned beef and other vegetables topped with three fried eggs. All the parts of the hash were distinctly separate. It was almost as if they took precooked ingredients, tossed them in a bowl, and threw them on my plate. I didn't feel like I was eating corned beef hash, just corned beef and potatoes. None of the flavors meshed. My buddy had a bacon and egg scramble; it was much better. However, the cheese on the top of his scramble was not melted. This place was not bad, it was just not good. The people are great, the service is great, the food is decent. . . just not something to drive to Enumclaw for. There are better diner's nearby in Sumner or Auburn.

OMG, the breakfast servings are amazing! Go in there early on a Saturday or Sunday (before the crowd), and they will take amazing care of you. You always get a muffin in addition to your gigantic meal, but they sometimes also surprise you with a fresh baked cookie too! Their scrambles easily feed two, and they are great at handling special requests. Plus, the people who run the place (both wait staff and back of house) are truly wonderful local folks! Warm, friendly - the kind of place to go when you need a reduction in your stress level. Love 'em!

  • Allie K.

Breakfast perfection. From the scrambles (even the half order is enough for 3 meals - no joke) to the french toast (made with sourdough bread) to the fresh from the oven muffins while you wait. Everything is consistantly delicious and I will keep coming back whenever I am in town. The staff are amazing too, so friendly and quick!

  • Missy S.

If you leave this place hungry then its your own fault. The potions are more then generous and absolutely delicious. If you order one of their scrambles make sure you are hungry because even the half orders are huge. The service is always so up beat and friendly. They take great care of their customers. My 5 and 6 year also recommend this place and they are the pickiest eaters. My only complaint is I wish they were open for dinner.

I love bacon. I once tried to give up pork products, but dammit I just love bacon too much. The Kettle is not known for its bacon, but this does not stop me from ordering a veggie omelet with bacon. Best known for its hashes- piles of potato goodness covered in cheese makes me say, 'my-oh-my!" I instantly start to feel my hangover lighten, and as soon as a delicious homemade muffin comes my way, I start to forget how close the tables next to me are. I breathe deep and my food is in front of me. Hot, eggy and delicious. And thank goodness I only ordered a half-plate. I am not rushed and affectionately referred to as sweetheart and darling. I start to smile. I know it is going to be a good day; bacon, veggies, muffins and all.

We tried out The Kettle twice this week with family visiting the area. We can't say enough about how friendly, helpful, and attentive the staff is. The cinnamon or blueberry muffins are to die for. You can barely swallow a sip of your coffee before a waiter comes by to refill it--and that was on a busy Sunday morning with a bike race in town! I wonder what it's like when there are only two or three tables occupied in the joint? On one visit, my folks asked to split a scramble, and to their surprise they received two plates full, resembling two FULL orders and the waiter threw in an extra muffin for them. :) The only thing keeping me from giving it 5 stars is the sheer amount of breakfast and how it tastes. After having that homemade muffin, i was in heaven. Then breakfast came out. The first occasion i ordered the corned beef hash. I wouldn't recommend it. It's basically a pile of potatoes that you'd never know were on the grill (they're the consistency of potatoes you boil for mash) with a few diced onions and corned beef lunch meat thrown in. The three eggs on top were even bland. In contrast, i tried my folks' scramble, and i can't say that i could taste a difference between that or what i had because all you taste is bland potato. And when you're paying $9-10 for breakfast, it's pretty disappointing. The second occasion we all decided to try something different. Their Denver omelette is much better than the potato based dishes. It also comes with their Muffins From Heaven, and the peppers and onion were still a bit crisp and the omelette was loaded!!! with them and ham and probably 2 cups of cheese! It was very good, but again, the hash browns were meh. My kid's hotcakes were the size of manholes! When thinking about returning to the Kettle, we all decided we would just order a cuppa and a muffin for a mid-morning treat. For that, the place is 10X better than a Starbucks! Maybe they'd be worth a try for lunch; NOTE they don't serve lunch on Sunday and they close at 2 p.m. everyday. But unless i find work in a field of hard manual labour or can recruit 20 people of the street to dine with me, i don't think i'd ever be able to order and finish one of the scrambles or corned beef hash again. :)

Greasy spoon. So if you're looking for amazing hangover food or are craving a heart attack on a plate this is your place. Like everybody says, the portion sizes are huge and the food is pretty decent and inexpensive. The four stars comes from the whole experience. The service is great, the gals there are super nice and helpful. The food is pretty good, not the best in the world but still pretty good. They serve fresh muffins with the breakfasts that were light and fluffy and like I said good service. I will say I had their chili and did not care for it too much - I didn't even eat half of a cup. It was thicker than I'm used to...keep in mind I'm not a big chili person in general - it just happened to sound randomly good that day :) Anyway, if you happen to be in Enumclaw, you should check this place out, it's a fun experience...

#399! For an old hometown favorite. Hadn't eaten year in 20+ years and took the PIpster here for breakfast on our "Staycation at Nana's" I ordered the Meat Scramble - it could have feed a small 3rd world country, it was excellent. Got the blueberry muffin (which my Mom swears is her recipe - it could be, she had the owner's kids in HomeEc class). They made the little one a "Minnie Mouse" pancake - so cute and tasty, too. The way this place runs is amazing - wish I could post video of how the operate. We got there on a Sunday afternoon and it was completely packed - seated immediately, drinks within 2 minutes, orders taken, food in 5 minutes! Checked on several times, coffee refiled as soon as I took a drink. Service was friendly but definitely not overbearing. Breakfast for 2 was $20! This place definitely needs to be on "Diners, Drive-In and Dives" on Food Network! Love it - will be back sooner than later!

We came in for breakfast on a Sunday. Though it was packed, we got a seat right away. Looking around we knew we were in for huge portions of some greasy-spoon goodness. The breakfast menu was basically egg scrambles, omelets, and pancake/french toast/waffle options. I was in the mood for sweets, so I went with the waffle & 2 egg combo. I asked for fruit instead of bacon. My boyfriend went for the veggie omelet. My waffle was boring, very thin, and just not all that good. I thought for a minute it may even be a frozen waffle. The fruit was soggy strawberry compote. I was really bummed. Fortunately, my boyfriends omelet was huge, with tons of potatoes & cheese. It fed us both. The service was great, the muffins that came with the omelet were bomb, i just clearly ordered the wrong thing. Next time, go with a scramble...

Greasy Spoon! We hit up the Kettle before driving up into the mountains for our Christmas tree. I was in the mood for some comfort food, and we spotted The Kettle down a lonely street in Enumclaw (and got a recommendation from the Ranger Station). We knew it must be good based on the amount of cars (well, mostly trucks) outside. Score! This is where the locals go! I was a little worried that we would have to wait, but my ruggedly handsome tree chopping boyfriend talked me into going. Not to worry though, they pack 'em in! We were seated right away by the friendliest waitress in... the whole world, I'm pretty sure! The boyfriend had an enormous scramble. We're talking HUGE! I think it weighed 5 pounds, with at least a pound of cheese on top. The scramble came with a freshly baked Cinnamon muffin... Mmmm.... I helped him polish that off. I had a grilled cheese sandwich with roast beef. Grilled cheese perfection! Buttery (but not too buttery) bread, just the right amount of cheese and the roast beef was really good. I had a cup of "leftover spaghetti" soup which was actually really good. The nicest waitress in the world even refilled my cup of soup for free! We walked out of The Kettle with lots of leftovers and plenty of energy for our quest for the perfect Christmas tree. The meal only set me back $22 plus tip.

Bring your appetite! The portions are large, and if you order one of the Scrambles, they're ridiculously enormous! This place is very homey and casual. It's a family business. Staff is extremely friendly and pleasant. Service was quick and efficient. The coffee is typical diner/coffeeshop caliber: weak and thin, not much flavor, and the flavor that was there wasn't very good. So, if you're a coffee connoisseur, get your morning coffee elsewhere. Hubby got the hot cocoa, and it was good but extremely hot, and they put a handful on mini-marshmallows on top, which held the heat in. So, he had to take his cocoa "to go" when we left, as it remained too hot to drink during our entire breakfast. A muffin comes with our meal. We both chose the Cinnamon Muffins instead of the Mixed Berry Muffins. These were exceptionally good! Not dry at all, but also not oily either. I would love to have their recipe. I got the chicken-fried steak with country gravy, over-easy eggs (you get three eggs with your meal instead of the typical two), and fried potatoes and onions. I ordered a side of sourdough toast (which was extra) so that I could dip it into my eggs. The steak was fine, but the gravy was a little bland for my taste. It seemed under-salted, and I tend to prefer quite a lot of pepper in my country gravy; as far as I could tell, this had no pepper at all. The potatoes were tasty, but there was no crispiness to them. And they could have been slightly more seasoned for my taste; I did feel the need to use ketchup on them, which isn't always the case with me. The eggs were perfectly cooked; nicely runny yolks, and fully-cooked whites without being tough. The toast was scrumptious; I don't know for sure, but I suspect that they buttered the toast by brushing melted butter on it, rather than spreading room-temp butter with a knife. It was fantastic. (If you're a person who likes your toast "lightly buttered," you should order it dry, and butter it yourself with the butter pats that are provided at each table, cuz they don't go light on the butter!) My husband ordered a Scramble. It was gargantuan!! It was a plate of the skillet potatoes and onions, topped with scrambled eggs containing all the mix-ins, then more potatoes, then shredded cheddar on top of the whole thing. He loved it, but only ate about a quarter of it (and he has a big appetite). He ordered a pancake on the side, which was as large at the plate. He said it was exceptionally good. I wish I could give this place an extra half-star because of something that they did for us which was above and beyond the call of duty. I accidentally left my coat there. We live about 20-25 minutes away from The Kettle, so I called to let them know that I would come back in a couple of days to pick it up (they would be closed the next day). But they offered to meet us half-way to hand it off, so that I wouldn't have to wait 2 days for my coat. We thought that was extremely kind and generous of them to offer to do that. We will definitely go back again. The food wasn't perfect, but it was very good, there was plenty of it, at good prices, with great service, and all in very pleasant environment.

This is our favorite breakfast place, especially when we have guests in from out of town. It's a small-town, friendly staff, feels-like-home type of place. Don't expect the healthy platter - it's all old-school! Portions are HUGE (hint: split an entree) and the prices are great. The staff are our favorite here in town. No place else compares!

Very impressive on all levels. Great value, great food, great service and so unexpected in a small town and a delight for a Seattlelite (wait did I just rhyme?). I went here for a group of twelve people taking in lunch and this place pleased everyone. I'm an Atkin's dieter and did just fine with the shrimp salad with oil on top - lots of goodies included on the salad. The breakfast menu is available all day, so if you like bacon and eggs for lunch or dinner, you've found your spot. The service is soooo friendly, fast, flexible and proficient I'm impressed. I give them the 5th star for having diet pepsi on tap - which is hard to find. Full spectrum of food to choose from. The beautiful plants as you walk in show there is a very good aura of love, and there is nice entertainment for the kids or young at heart (books, coloring pages/crayons, etc) along with funky and ecclectic decorations everywhere. Great job Kettle's!

I have to admit I am biased. Grew up eating the #55 all the time in highschool, it was worth being late for. Still is, any full order will have you bringing home left overs worth another meal. Great hometown country cooking.

This is the place where everyobody doesn't know your name, but instead calls you dear. The pig infested décor might be a sly little pun referencing to how you might eat when you get your food. The scrambles - which is a troth full of eggs, potatoes, meats (and in some cases veggies are in there somewhere) entirely covered in cheddar cheese. A half portion is enough for 2 people - I wouldn't even imagine attempting to eat an entire whole size. Plus it comes with a muffin - either a cinnamon or blueberry - both are fabulous so I ask if I can get one of each, in which they kindly respond "why of course dear - I'll be right back". All meals are served just about the same, putting a McDonalds supersize meal to cold and utter shame. You can even try going healthy, by purchasing an Oatmeal (which is the best oatmeal I have ever had in a restaurant - great consistency and comes with an array of fixings), and it will come in a family style salad bowl. Or try ordering "the Jeff", named after a local Kettle enthusiast. I have never tried the Jeff, nor have I met Jeff - but I imagine that both might be a bit oversized as well. So next time you find yourself out in Enumclaw (and not for the purpose of endorsing any beastiality please...we've had enough of that) - put on your stretch pants and bring your 'dear' friends to help you savor the delicious experience of the Kettle.

This restaurant serves good breakfast type of food, at LARGE quantities. The scrambles are the most popular amongst the local crowd, and the scrambles are topped with full loads of cheddar cheese.....ask those on the side if you are watching your waist line. The daily specials are very good choices as well. The dining area is small but welcoming. The owner sometimes hands out free baked goods (cookies) for customers - definitely puts a smile on your face when that happens. The restaurant is not open on Mondays btw.

Excellent breakfast place. The wait staff were so nice and speedy I am sure they are on something! If you order a Scrambler, better get a half unless you have not eaten in several days.

We just moved to the area this year and we were told that The Kettle was THE place to get breakfast. I had to jump right in and get one of the scrambles and so did my wife. She is about 100lbs and the scramble weighed about half as much as she did! I felt like I was on Man Vs. Food! But besides the gigantic portions for only $10 or so, this place is awesome! would recommend it to everyone! Food is great, our servers have been great and the small town feel of Enumclaw is great! Come hungry and leave stuffed, and with leftovers!

Huh?? I am wondering if there are two places called The Kettle in Enumclaw as I didn't have the same 5 star experience the majority of Yelpers did. The two stars given was a reflection on food quality, which my order of corned beef hash was a mound of potatoes with diced corned beef sparsely located within. Eggs were over done and muffins had a burnt ting to them. Breakfast for 2 with no extras or drinks added was $27. Come on, potatoes are not that expensive! I will say all the employees were nice and the best part of the experience. Our server was honest about the expensive glass of OJ we inquired about that it was indeed frozen concentrate, but it was fresh juice at one time! LOL. Food arrived quickly despite being busy. If you like mounds of tasteless food this is your place, but it's quantity not quality here.

The portions are gigantic! Even the half scramble will feed an entire family. Great view of Mt Rainier across the street too.

We had breakfast there. Food Was good/acceptable. Atmosphere was hometown cafe. Locals chatted across the room. It was nice, good food, large portions, fun and would have been a good four star, but the waitress brought us fresh hot homemade cookies. A big tray with 3 or 4 dozen piled high "Would you like a cookie" she said. I have never had service like that and that warrants 5 stars!

Portions were huge and food was good. Hash browns could've been cooked a little more. Waitresses were friendly. We saved the blueberry and cinnamon muffins for a snack later.

  • Debbie W.

Omg so cute! The restaurant is decorated so cute with all kinds of piggys and western stuff. The staff was awesome, friendly and so were the locals. The homemade cinnamon muffins were so hot and fresh, the bomb. Only go if your hungry cause even the half portions are a lot. The hash browns/home fries mix are yummy!! Our waitress came over with 2 to go bags, told her we didn't order anything to go and she said "on the house for the hotel room later". She packed us cinnamon muffins, butters and napkins! How sweet was that?! Never would happen in California.

Wow! Great Breakfast. Took us longer to decide what to eat than it took to receive our food. Huge portions! Place was packed, we were seated right away. Great Experience, Great food. Will definitely return

The bestest place in the 'Claw for breakfast. Homemade muffins with plates so full of food that I've never been able to completely finish in the restaurant. Doggie bags (boxes) are my friends at The Kettle!

My sister and I were on a road trip and first stop was Enumclaw. I asked a friend for a recommendation for breakfast, she suggested The Kettle. My sister and I were thrilled with our breakfast, except it was enough for a very hungry lumberjack! Our service at first was slow, but then it improved. Our food was delicious, I had the French toast and bacon, she had eggs and sausage. Plus we were given a cookie at the end of our meal. It was delicious! I told the man who baked them how good they were and he gave us some to go. We really scored! I would definitely go back.

Quick, kind, courteous service with quality breakfast food. We'd much rather eat here than the Buttered Biscuit because if the friendlier, faster service.

  • Anne-Marie G.

Hands down yumminess to the next level! Huge portions (ridiculous big) and the fastest service I've ever had! Fab with 2 boys! Lol

  • Taylor B.

If they sold the muffins in batches, I would buy three dozen lol. Seriously, the place is worth it just for the muffins. Besides those, the food is AMAZING! I heard they use a whole dozen eggs, pounds of hashbrowns and I don't remember the rest in order to make their scrambles. A half order will leave you left overs for days but for a dollar more you can get a full order. It's so insane. I call this place my hangover place. Best place to get food when you have a hangover! ;)

  • Amy I.

Pros: Friendly, FAST service. They are willing to make substitutions & accommodate requests. Good (not amazing) muffins. I had the sourdough French toast and it was yummy. The scrambles are huge and can easily feed two adults. Cons: Overall quality of the food was just ok. Some reviewers liked the decor, but I found it cluttery to the point of being uncomfortable. Verdict: I wouldn't stop here again.

  • Michelle Y.

Our waitress Debbie was wonderful the food is great and you get way too much of it. So there's plenty to take home. Also the muffins are spectacular. It will be our new go to place for breakfast.

if you are hungry then this is the place to go for a delicious breakfast. so many choices, wait staff super friendly, and accommodating. very busy but have never waited more than 10 minutes, well worth the wait.

  • Chaz R.

Sooooo much food for $11. For that price you get one of the giant platters pictured and a huge delicious muffin. I've heard the serving the portion on other items are similarly great value. I'm a large guy and was able to get two breakfasts out of my leftovers (which kept well). Great place to stop at before or after your Crystal trips

Best breakfast I've had in a long time ! Service felt like I was at home, love this place !!!! Everything was so good I will be back for sure ! I suggest everyone try this place !! It has a real down home feel ! Kinda small but worth it !!!!

  • Rob H.

Great food and a lot of it! At first our group of 5 didn't believe what we had read in other reviews about getting 2 pounds of food, but those rumors were confirmed. The order for our group of 5 included the Meat Lover's Scramble, Green Water Scramble, Pancakes, the delicious cinnamon and blueberry muffins, coffee, and hot chocolate, all of which was fantastic. The full order for a scramble is enough for 4 hungry adults. This is a ton of awesome food for not much money. We will be back once we've finished the mountain of leftovers, which may last us a few days.

  • Brenda W.

I love the kettle, they have amazing food, and most plates could feed two easily. However due to healthy choices I had to stop eating here. I went in to eat one morning to find out they don't have alternative choices for people who don't eat pork. Kind of disappointing due to the fact that a lot of people choose turkey bacon or sausage. I know my absence won't hurt their business because they are amazing.... but seriously GET ALTERNATIVES ALREADY.

Good food - not very fancy, but gigantic portions of comfort food. The service was absolutely amazing!

We were on our way back to Seattle and found this Jem. Their muffins are homemade and the portions are HUGE. Great service! Closes at 2! Perfect meal after a long hike.

  • Erin S.

OH HOLY DUTCH COWS......their blueberry muffins are fantastic! My friend wanted to stop by Enumclaw to reminisce growing-up here, so we decided to get up early and do breakfast at The Kettle. This place was packed!!! It was fairly early on a Saturday, but apparently everyone comes here, especially the locals. )!After being seated, our server was there a few minutes later. We both ordered scrambles, I got a half order, my friend got the full (which he later regretted, due to being so large). Right after our order, we were quickly given coffee and some beautiful muffins. Soooo good. They tasted like homemade muffins from home, not heavy and full of flavor. We both quickly devoured our muffin and then were served our scramble. Geez, I'm so glad I got the half order, because I would still be eating it days later due to it being so big. The only complaint that I can offer is that the cheese wasn't melted when our food came from the kitchen, but it was still tasty. Our server was excellent, sarcastic and hilarious.....which livens things up. He constantly kept our coffee and water filled, along with asking how everything was. Our server came by after noticing how we were significantly slowing down and asked if we needed a to-go box. When he brought out our boxes, he also gave us two extra muffins for the road. What a great send off. The next I pass through Enumclaw, I will definitely stop here again.

I can see by some reviews, that there's no making everyone happy, but as for me, I love the good as it gets, cafe food and experience. We've stopped here two years in a row, on our way to hike the trails by Mt. rainier. Next year, we'll stop again on route to our favorite mountain. We all decided that we couldn't imagine finding a better place to fuel up for the day. I had the pancakes, bacon and eggs this year. I've never had better bacon and the pancakes were delish! The cafe, doesn't look like much from the outside, but step on in, to a very fun atmosphere. There's interesting decor every where, even walking down the little hallway, to the bathrooms. Both times, the cafe has been busy, and the service excellent.

  • Joel R.

Oh my good. I ordered a full order of the meat scramble and it was massive. It was enough for lunch and split with my wife and I for dinner. Just like grandma used to make it. Very very good. Will be back for sure.

The best breakfast ever!! If you looking for fresh cinnamon or berry muffin and a home cooked breakfast with amazing portions this is the place. Lunch is no slouch either with the lonesome lake burger!

  • Melissa G.

Hands down the best place to eat! Everything is made to perfection, homemade muffins are SOOO good. Service is always fantastic. No matter what you get the food is amazing. Like everyone else says too, if you plan on getting the scramble be prepared to share or take at least half of it home for later, they are huge, but so good! If you're considering a stop here, stop reading and start getting your rear in gear and get there... you won't regret it.

  • Allison W.

Nice people, quick service, absolutely tragic food. Big pile of bland, soggy potatoes, dry, flavorless biscuits, dull white gravy, little round slices of Jimmy Dean sausage, and shredded cheddar right out of the bag. The food was truly awful. We both know better than to step out in the 'Scratch--back to Charlie's for us.

I was in town visiting family and friends (Seattle born and raised) and my Sister wanted to meet up at this place for breakfast. Holy cow! The food was delicious and you better come hungry! The place is small and can get quite packed with lines out the door waiting to be called for a seat. The staff manages the chaos quite well and are still incredibly courteous. Our breakfast came with a bunch of delicious full sized muffins that were still warm from the oven. I can't recall all of the flavors but they were a warm and delicious treat while we waited. The kids loved them and there was still plenty left. Remember what I said about coming hungry. Most of us ordered their famous skillets, I ordered the meat lovers with jalapeno. The 1/2 order of the meat lovers skillet was about $11 and the full order I believe was only a $ or two more. I ordered the 1/2 at the recommendation of my sister. I was hungry as could be and thought she was crazy but I heeded her advice. The food came out in a respectable time frame given the chaos and the portion sizes. Wow...was I ever glad I ordered the 1/2 size. I finished nearly 3/4's of the skillet but I was stuffed to the gills. A 1/2 order is enough to feed most couples and I couldn't imagine a full order. The food came out hot and was absolutely delicious and covered in still melting cheese. Writing this review while I am hungry does not help.... I suppose my ONLY complaint was that they did not give a Military Discount. This would NOT stop me from going there in the future. If only I didn't live all the way out here in Wisconsin now... This place is a MUST GO for breakfast if you are incredibly hungry...great hangover food!

If you like cold floppy bacon, gravy from a can, old potatoes and sub par waffles the kettle is the place for you. When I sent my cold floppy bacon back for new bacon the waiter returned with a charred yet still floppy replacement. My boyfriend ordered biscuits and gravy, and he's sure nothing in that plate was homemade. I came to meet my parents for breakfast so I had to suck it up and eat it to keep from offending my dad. Had I been on my own I would have sent that disgusting breakfast back and went elsewhere. I must note that the waitstaff was friendly and accommodating.

It's good. Massive mounds of food. I got the veggie scramble and it was so huge I had to take it home! The food seems to be almost southern style, and most orders come with these massive muffins that are pretty amazing. I'd take friends here after a night of heavy debauchery.

  • Carlanna C.

This place sets the standard for service. Their food is great, and prices are reasonable, but the main reason I come back is the service. You're greeted when you come in, waitress is at the table as soon as you're seated and checks in on you regularly. Food comes very quickly, especially considering how busy it always is. This place should run a training camp on how to run a restaurant.

Our new breakfast place. I went there today by myself and I loved the atmosphere! They were just getting over a busy rush when I came in . I got a half order scramble! It was really good and huge . I loved they blueberry muffin very tasty . I can't wait to take my husband here to try it out . My water was kept full and I was checked on multiple times throughout my meal . Great service !

Been to this place a couple times now & can vouch for the truly huge breakfast servings! My wife & I split a "scrambler" for breakfast & I still had enough for lunch later that afternoon. I am afraid that some "trickery" is going on with the ingredients of said mountain of food for roughly $11-$12. That being it is probably 2 pounds of potatoes, literally, with barely enough egg content to be visible & maybe 2-4 ounces of whatever other ingredients you thought you were ordering in your "scrambler". So they buy 100's of lbs. of potatoes, probably for 25 cents/lb, throw in another 25-50 cents of ingredients & then hit me up for $11! Not what I would call value under any circumstances; i. e. 2 lbs of potatoes & a spoonful of other ingredients is just a rip-off that people seem to continue to overlook, just because it is big & they get two meals from it.... Even the muffins seemed to drop off in quality the second trip. Not sure I will ever return, but if I do, I won't be ordering 2 lbs. of potatoes next time, I mean a "scrambler"!

Best breakfast in town! The scrambles are huge great price for how much food you get! Service is good for how busy they are. And the muffins that get served with your meal are aaaamazing!

While visiting Mom's house for Thanksgiving, wanted a change of scenery from the Black Diamond Bakery for breakfast so Yelp sent me here. We were not disappointed. The Cinnamon muffin that came with my order was outstanding -- one of the best I've had anywhere. Got a bacon scramble -- it was tasty and gigantic -- even the half-orders (which are only one dollar less) are far too large. To-go boxes are a must. It was above-average diner food and above-average diner service. These guys have it over on the current-iteration of the Black Diamond Bakery so make this your go-to breakfast in the area.

  • John A.

An Enumclaw essential. Great laid back environment, great for getting together with friends. Even better food! The portions here are HUGE, so make sure you bring your appetite. The half-orders are doable, but I've never even gotten close to finishing a full order (to go box is a necessity). The scrambles are the classic thing to order, but everything else is pretty tasty too! It can be pretty busy on the weekends, but the wait doesn't tend to be too bad. Also, prices are very reasonable, you definitely get great value here!

  • ann p.

I cannot stress enough that the portions are MASSIVE. They offer a half-portion but it's only a dollar less. I barely made a dent in my Buckley scramble and had to take the rest back to the hotel. We will be warming this up again for a couple days. Everything was delicious. The service was lightening-fast, and the staff is very friendly. Charming old building with all the flaws of an old building, but they're doing a great job of maintaining and keeping it clean. Half-paved off street parking available.

  • Dani I.

Service was awesome, location was cute, but the food was too bland for my liking. I'd like to give it another go though and order something else instead of the scramble. If it's good I will update this review.

Best breakfast in the world no one dose it better. The muffins are to die for and the scramble is a mountain. Will always come back.

Hometown diners are my favorite. Even if the food is hit or miss this place is special just because of the customer service. Portions here are large, huge, humongous. I split a dish with someone and still only managed to eat half of my plate. The blue berry muffin was absolutely delicious, nice and fresh out of the tin. I would say besides the muffins my favorite part of the experience was how friendly our waitress was. Prices are reasonable and fair. This place gets busy so get their early or be prepared to wait. Enjoy!

this is my favourite place to come for breakfast. it's about an hour trek from where I normally live, but it's always worth the trip. the muffins (cinnamon) are by far the best. to die for. the scrambles are delicious and even with a 1/2 order I had plenty to take home!

Their quote "Culinary" team can't cook eggs any style. I asked for one up scramble other two there "culinary lead" said allowed so even I could hear across crowded restaurant "I can't do that!!! Tell him he needs to make a choice" so I did ... I went to the Lee down the street where they gladly cooked my eggs to order... Long story short the title culinary team they claim themselves to be is probably an over statement by there page designer more like grumpy lazy line cook.....

Where do I start?? I absolutely LOVE the kettle!!! Their customer service is amazing!! And the food is just awesome! When I go for breakfast I ALWAYS get the Buckley scramble. It's the most amazing breakfast you'll ever eat! Their muffins are to die for! Have never had a rude server out of the several times I have stopped in. They are always friendly, fast, efficient and I never have to wait to have my cup refilled!! This is one place where I can guarantee you won't be disappointed!! Best place for breakfast in Enumclaw! The competition doesn't come close. My only complaint is that they aren't open on Mondays... But I guess even they deserve a day off every once in a while.

    (5)
  • Sara M.

First off I must tell you they offer free meals to active military! Our server Sara was very friendly and one of the best servers I've had. The food was great, huge portions. The only negative I have is the chicken fried steak was really tough.

  • Jennifer E.

We were pleasantly surprised that although busy, we were seated promptly, given water right away and our waitress came over shortly thereafter to take our orders. Now the amazing part was how fast our food came out. I hadn't even finished my blueberry muffin they gave me first! The two men in my family were really happy with their scrambles and my eggs and bacon were really good too. Normally I am the only of us to leave with leftovers but we all had to take about half home. So much food for a decent price. We'd return.

The cute little family owned restraunt is great. They have an elaborate menu. I opted for the French Toast and glad I did. It was delicious and perfect. Served hot, warm butter and dusted with sugar. Wish though they were a tad bit cooked more. The service is personal and polite. The people who ordered dishes besides me, their dishes were humongous. By the looks of it, could easily feed two.

The Kettle Cafe best kept secret in Enumclaw Washington... Exceptionally clean restaurant, outstanding customer service and delicious breakfasts and lunches... I would highly recommend this mom and pop restaurant to all of my family and friends...

DELICIOUS!! Our go to for weekend breakfast. Everyone we have taken there says it's the best breakfast they have ever had. There portions are ridiculous..,.so be prepared for that. We got a scramble and a biscuits and gravy for three of us and ate on it for days. My son LOVES their muffins...so the rest of us rarely get to try them, They are very busy, but the nice thing is they have take out also, so we do that a lot on the weekends.

This place is great. On the way home from Mt. Rainer with the ladies and searched yelp for dinner. Not disappointed. Service is quick and cheerful. Food is dinner quality huge plates. This vegan had a great bowl of oatmeal with raisins, walnuts, brown sugar and coconut! So good. Had them leave off the milk and butter. Great food all the way around. Breakfast only on Sundays.

The standard by which breakfast joints should be measured: good coffee, perfect breakfast menu, huge (and I mean HUGE) portions, and a staff that makes you feel like family. We visited there on a Saturday just prior to closing (2pm). I ordered the Buckley Scramble and a cup coffee. Little did I know I would get a plate of eggs, bacon, onions and fresh cut hashbrowns topped with cheese that looked like a small version of Mt. Rainier. My meal weighed in a good two pounds. Even the 1/2 order my daughter asked for looked like a peak in the Cascades. To top off the experience, since we were so near closing time, they gave us the last two Cinnamon Muffins they had on hand for free. Going back whenever I can find an excuse (and my appetite is up for it).
