Nice stop on your way across Chinook Pass or when you're headed to the fairgrounds. Traditional diner, friendly service, generous portions, good food, excellent value.

A friend and I took our sons here after camping on Rainier. This is the definitive Americana diner experience. Charlie's has a comfortable, roadhouse feel to it (vintage Coca Cola collectables bring back great memories.) Food is very good, portions are large and the great service makes you want to relocate just to eat here more often. I had the True Blue omelette (see picture) and a blueberry pancake on the side. My sons had bacon cheeseburgers, onion rings and chili cheese fries. Their comment after we got back in the truck was "I'm so glad we didn't stop at McDonalds! When can we go back?"

Big portions and friendly service. I had a burger which was good. My buddy had hash browns with gravy. Gravy wasn't the best but still tasty. Perfect place for local color. Great place after a hike or skiing.

Food is nothing to write home about and as an added bonus if you like being served by the Blair Witch this place is for you!!! Unfriendly unfriendly... We came in asked for a slightly bigger table since we had 6 people (2 more were on their way)... the place was very empty and they said no... We got a booth for 4 and of course 5 minutes later the others in our party showed up, they got extremely annoyed that we wanted to move to the booth we originally asked for (Keep in mind - the place was STILL EMPTY) We opted to stay at our table... and pull up 2 extra chairs to ours... instead of breakfast the others in our party opted to just have coffee.. Food - I asked for extra crispy hashbrowns.. they came to me burnt - black on the outside - barely cooked on the inside. Some of out cups didn't look like they were washed either - Coffee stains on the outside of them, a buddy of mine at the table noticed this picked up his cup and wiped his off, Nancy asked snarkly "Does it pass your inspection?" Never again! Oh and guess what... a couple came in while we were leaving... they seated them in the large booth... Thanks Nancy!

Pretty much a regular at this locally owned and operated establishment. The service is usually really good and the staff is alwsys friendly and keeps the coffee flowing. Good family style breakfast and lunch. Opens At 5 a.m. so is a great place to start your day whether a bite before work or getting ready for a day on the mountain.

I really like this place! I have only tried the breakfast, the country fried steak is awesome! Great service, friendly people. Good home style cooking.

We went here on the way to Mt. Rainier. We arrived at 10:45 on a Monday morning. The restaurant was full, with only 1 waitress Autumn the daughter of the owners. She was pleasant enough. We ordered 2 omelets & an order of pancakes with bacon & a biscuit. The food took over 45 minutes to show up. My daughters pancake was burnt & the bacon overdone. The biscuit was miss in the top. Do NOT go here...bad food, bad service..bad bad

Great breakfast place wonderful menu good parking family-owned locally and you can substitute the cottage cheese and tomatoes for hashbrowns which I just love. parking is great.

Overall the food was just okay, the Sausage Gravy tasted like rosemary which I thought gave it a strange taste. The service wasn't great even though they were not busy. I would not go back.

We ordered the country fried steak, fish and chips, and two other breakfast entrees. The breakfast food was really good. The country fried steak was awesome; it was still crisp and not too salty. The fish and chips were not that great, just typical frozen food. The place was really clean and the staff was very friendly. Prices were reasonable. I bet they make pretty good burgers; I plan to go back to see. It is worth a visit.

Worst hash browns ever. Ask for crispy you get burnt black. Could not even eat them. Eggs were good. Had small chicken fried steak. It was OK not great. Bacon good but over done, been cooked ahead. Sausage was good. Service was very good. Probably won't go back.

5 star for service, 4 star for food; I'd give this place a 4.5 star if possible. Stopped by for breakfast/lunch on our way back from a hiking & camping trip. We started off by splitting one of their homemade cinnamon rolls.....delicious! My husband had the veggie omelet with hashbrowns & I had the roast beef deli-melt with salad. We were both happy with our choices. Tasty homemade hashbrowns, omelet was just right, sourdough bread was great, roast beef was decent & salad hit the spot with plenty of tomatoes, shaved carrots and shredded red cabbage. Overall a good hearty meal. The staff was super friendly, keeping our coffee topped off and making sure we had everything we needed. We've driven past this place a couple dozen times on our way to Crystal Mtn and based on Yelp reviews, we finally decided to stop in. We're glad we did, we'll be back next time we're looking for breakfast or lunch in Enumclaw.

We stopped by charlies on the drive home from hiking. Great flavor and it's all made in house. I saw another review of the reuben, which said the meat portion was lacking. That is true, they could put more meat in the sandwich. prices are a bit high too. The food and service are very good. I had the taco omelet, which was very good.

"Home cooking at it's best" is their motto, and they certainly bring that to the table. Good, honest breakfast food I could have made at home - but better because someone made it for us! Very hearty meals, very local flavor, and very down home.

This is the definition of a roadside diner if I've ever seen one. Not wanting to eat breakfast at the Alpine Inn at Crystal mountain once again (it's hotel food, and that's not how I roll) we stopped at Charlies on our way back home. I, of course would rather ski all day, but there comes a time to join civilization once again :(. But anyway, getting to the point of actually eating there... The food was--Roadside dinerish. Which isn't bad! No No No! Most people would think that it's bad, but I've always had a good experience with these places. You want to go with the old good hearty (insert old-fashioned hearty word) food. So biscuits and gravy just gets ya down to earth at this place. Motorcycle drivers in big black jackets filed in, and the atmosphere was set. Great homestyle food, I totally downed my biscuits and gravy and was left scraping my plate. I would come back, but you don't exactly drive to Enumclaw for a roadside diner. If I'm at Crystal again though, I'll come here on the way back

If you have taste buds stay away from the coffee. The hashbrowns were weird the consistency of a baked potato. A little expensive for the location though and the gravy comes out of a can. Home cooking to me means you cook it... not a canning factory. It was not worth the drive....

Great food and friendly staff! This family run diner is the best breakfast in Enumclaw and a perfect stop on your way up to Mount Rainier. Don't miss it!

Great small town diner out in the country and farmland. Wonderful history and, for what it is, a very donation-generous business (as witnessed by the restroom hallway). Took a lunch break from our field review here. I had the Fish Sandwich, some tea and water. The fries remind you of Dick's, only perhaps more substance. The fish patty had a crispy, chewy texture to it. Pretty good. Super cute diner, decor of a bygone era everywhere, vintage Coke memorabilia everywhere, small, cute, simple artsy bits here and there... definitely felt the clock turned back. The road it's on reminded me of the intro sequence in the film It Happened At The World's Fair, where Elvis hopped a ride to the Seattle World's Fair in '62 along such a road with a view of Mount Rainier. That was neat. This is a great diner/cafe and financially helps others.

A wee bit disappointed today. Whenever we are out in the 'Claw and looking for breakfast, we go to Charlie's. My first time at Charlie's was 24 years ago, on my way back from a camping trip, and over the course of the past 24 years, whenever I want breakfast and I'm in that end of town, this is where I stop. I don't know what the deal was today, granted it's been a year since we been out there, but my significant other's hash browns looked a little on the over-browned side, just teetering on being burnt, but I looked at them and thought that they looked a little odd. The texture was way off, it was as though they used par-cooked coarse smashed potatoes for their hash browns. My eggs were dry, and my significant other's omelet looked a bit deflated -- just wasn't enough filling in it, and omelets generally aren't supposed to be browned. Was thrilled to death that the bacon was cooked properly though, and the pancakes were okay. I am hoping that it was just an off-day for the kitchen, as it's always been one of my favorite breakfast places. The reason I didn't give it 2 stars is because the waitress was really friendly, the dining room was clean, and the food came out quickly.

My girlfriend and I are avid bikers (motorcycle) and one of our favorite things to do while riding is try out the local 'hometown' restaurants. Charlie's has that look...especially inside. Coffee mugs hanging from the ceiling, home made quilts about...perfect! Not so much...the 'home-made' chicken fried steak was anything but. This was a 'restored' frozen, cheap-o chicken patty covered with canned pre-made sausage gravy. The hashbrowns were also frozen. Nothing about this meal was home-made and the quality way far less than average. We will not return. Nice people though!

I have lived in the Plateau area for 17 years and been to this restaurant only twice. My second experience re-confirmed why it took me 5 years to return after my first. We went for breakfast and ordered an omelette. We were one of only four tables seated at the time and it took 30 minutes for the food to arrive. Once it did, I was further unimpressed, my biscuit, was obviously previously frozen and had clearly been overheated in the microwave to the point it was rubbery. My potatoes were cold and the omelette, which the menu said contained swiss cheese, contained processed cheese food. The only thing that cheese had in common with swiss cheese was its color. I promptly sent it back and ordered a different meal, the 222. When it arrived, both the bacon and scrambled eggs were dry and the pancakes, were so tough that the butter knife would not easily cut them. Then when the bill came, she had charged us for both the meal I sent back as well as the lousy one I picked at. It was $48 for possibly the WORST breakfast I have ever had. After we paid the bill, the waitress did not return, at all, we had to get up and go look for her to ask for a box so we could take the leftovers home for our dogs. During my first experience, five years ago, I found a hair in my club sandwich that they seemed put out about when I showed it to them. I will not make the mistake of giving this restaurant a third chance.

This is one of my favorite places in Enumclaw. Everything about this place feels like you belong here. Sitting in the atmosphere of a space similar to mom's kitchen listening to to chatter of cooking, dishes and conversation. The kids love it here. We like to get a window seat and watch the bird feeder. It is nice to know that you have a place like this with people that care!

Now THIS is the way to start your day! Classic homestyle mom & pop diner on Highway 410 that serves big portions of hearty breakfast and good coffee, too. I've had breakfast here several times; works out great because one meal in the morning is pretty much sufficient to keep you going all day long. My favorite, of course, is the chicken fried steak-- a meal so large they serve it on two plates! The steak is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, the sausage gravy is just the right consistency with lots of flavor, hash browns are crispy on top but perhaps too oily (but quite tasty), eggs and toast are, well, eggs and toast. The coffee is good and so is the service-- the waitress keeps it coming. Great place!

We went out on a limb and tried them today because our favorite breakfast place was way too busy, decent food but very poor customer service. I called in an order and they got it wrong by adding two extra meals to my order, then were irritated with me for not wanting two whole meals we were nit going to eat. Overall not impressed, very expensive for average food and poor service

Great food, huge portions, good prices, friendly, sweet server, family owned/run business. What more could you ask for? We stopped here on our way out of Mt. Rainier after a three day backpacking trip. Hungry, our one focus was immediately satisfied. The food was very good, there were lots of options, and definately recommend this place for breakfast, and lunch...and maybe dinner too...oh, and they have pie, so dessert. I'll be back if I ever get up that way again (this was my husband's second time here, and we live thousands of miles away). Five stars all the way. Plus one bonus star for having family pics from a trip to Kauai'i.

Stopped in on my drive back from dropping a bunch of scouts at summer camp. I selected Charlie's based on the good Yelp votes. I was totally disappointed. I ordered a Reuben. I got 2 thin slices of meat, barely any cabbage, and it was so salty I could hardly swallow it. Horrible. All for $9! Total rip off. The service was friendly, but once the food got dropped of, I never saw from anyone again. I always try to eat at a "local" place when I'm passing through a new town... Today, I should have gone to Subway.

We were really excited to try this restaurant. However, it was a very bad experience. First, the waitress we had was awful. She took our order, and she was so curt with us that even my kids asked if they had done something to upset her. Then we got the food. My daughter ordered French toast with strawberries, and the strawberries had begun to ferment. My other daughter ordered a veggie omelet with Swiss cheese, and was served crunchy eggs with mystery white cheese. And then, the icing on the cake was my chicken fried steak. I haven't eaten a piece of meat that processed and full of fillers since I gave up McDonalds. We were extremely disappointed and hope to save someone else from this fate. Eat elsewhere...anywhere but here!!!

Charlie's is a frequent stop on the way back from BSA Camp Sheppard. We stopped last weekend and the parking lot was jammed. Our party of 6 stepped inside, we told them we didn't have reservations and they seated us almost right away. The place was full, but as not full as the parking lot made it seem. We were reminded to be ready to order when the waitress came over. An unusual request, but no problem for us. The staff are very friendly and you can't beat the Coca-Cola decor and the ENORMOUS senior portraits hanging on the wall. I've enjoyed everything I've eaten at Charlie's. The hash browns are unique and still hot and crispy. Pancakes, omelets, eggs, sausage, bacon, toast are very good. It's as good as anything I've ever had and there's always plenty to eat. Kids love the hot chocolate and the coffee mugs are kept full. My family has made a special trip to Charlies (45 minutes from Renton) for a special weekend breakfast but it's usually too far away when we're looking for breakfast. Charlie's location, good food, location, unique decor, location and friendly help make it worth stopping.

Our family spent a couple of days in Enumclaw and enjoyed our breakfasts at Charlies. Great old fashioned, locals favorite with great food and service. So nice to see a family run business. Highly recommended!!

a sign on the wall says it best: "please wait to be seated unless you are illiterate". awesome!! i was thoroughly impressed with charlie's--service was great (zach i think was his name?), coffee was plentiful and the veggie omelet w/taters were totally filling. never mind that i puked in the car about 30 minutes prior--i was simply making room (hungover? pssh, please). oh and the best part is that i'm typically one of those snacking-every-1.25hrs people. i wasn't even hungry after snowboarding almost six hours later. breakfast filled me up without sending me over the top or leaving me starving after two hours. can't wait to get up to the mtn again. we're stopping at charlie's again!
