McNamara’s Pub & Eatery Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

I thought the atmosphere was nice. The booths were comfortable, plenty of TV's plastered all over the walls to watch whatever you desire, and the service was proper. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich, which was very good. The sweet potato fries were okay. Nothing knock-your-socks-off, but good. The Irish cream pie that I had for desert was awesome!!! One of the best deserts that I think I have ever had!

We just had the worst service I've ever had. Shauna was our server and I'm pretty sure it was her first day working in a restaurant or customer service ever. Every interaction, which were few, was as though someone had told a dead baby joke that hit too close to home before she walked to our table. So awkward. No beer knowledge, brought half of the food out way before the other half, etc. I would love to encourage you all to go there, but just avoid her section. I eat out a lot and this tips the top with bad service. Also the food was mediocre at best.

Oh McNamara's. We have frequented this fine establishment with mixed experiences. The last two times, however, we actually complained and talked to the manager. It's like the more you go, the worse it gets. I suggested Mc's to eat at when my parents came to town from Arizona. Our food didn't come out for an hour and 15 minutes. No, seriously. I will show you the screen shot. We were about to leave, but out came our food. My mom's salad had dirt in it, like they failed to wash the romaine. That pretty much did it for everyone. I asked for the manager. Mr. Hipster-Gauged ears man came over and apologized. He said that they had call outs and our server was new. I get it, but that was the excuse LAST time. You only get to pull the "lack of servers/new server" card once per customer. I didn't understand why he wasn't helping the new server who was apparently not managing her tables well. Help her fill drinks. Help her run plates. Check on the tables. The only time I saw him the entire time was when he was walking across the restaurant carrying a latter. Whatever you need the latter for could have waited....I guarantee it. Anyway, sad to say it, but I'm staying away from this place for a long time. I am embarrassed that I took my parents here.

I would not recommend this place for HAPPY hour due to the fact that they don't tell you that its only in the pub and not the restaurant area pur waitress got us a menu for happy hour and asked what I was going to have I said well I'm thinking I want this but I was not sure so she went ahead and put it in anyways before I told her that is what I wanted and then she came back and took my husband order and when we got the bill we noticed that mine was not part of the happy hour even though it was on the menu so we ended up paying full price for mine since our waitress was a bitch and did what she did we will never go back and the food was awesome ..

I've been for a few business meetings, and their food is okay -- think pub grub. I like their breakfasts, and the service is good. The other day I had a Reuben that was good and an ice cold Boddingtons. What moves this place from three stars to four stars is the tremendous amount of support they give our service members. And a lot of service members eat there. I'm a fan.

3 1/2 stars for me. This is the place I go when I need breakfast since it is the only place that opens early in DuPont ! I really like the food. The only thing that I don't like is the very slow service even when there is barely any customers. So if you are in a rush, don't dine in. By that I mean when u r eating in, be prepared for food to take 45 mins to come out. However, I do like the food a lot and will always eat here when I'm looking for food in DuPont

Excellent service. Decent food. The French toast dippers from the kid's menu was a pretty big portion of food for a kid. The corned beef hash was ok... Definitely a bit on the greasy side... Perfect hangover food!

Fish n chips exceptionally amazing, batter was not too heavy it was flakey and the portion was very filling. Not to mention the Ruben they have here is out of this world crazy good. I recommend this place to anyone that likes a great beer domestic or import on tap, great food and a real traditional Irish pub atmosphere. Definate 5 stars. Thanks guys..

The server was great but it took an hour for our food to come out . When our food did come out the food was awful .Not really satisfied!!

This place is our (my boyfriend and I)'s new favorite spot. Their food is absolutely amazing. Their service is actually decent and we have been back several times. The Reuben rolls are to die for and we get them every time we go. Happy hour is also good. I think the blueberry lavender mojito was alright. What's really good is the sherbet mimosa. Whoever thought of that is an absolute genius. Today, (07272015) our server was Melinda and has been our best waitress yet. Just wanna add that the Mac and Cheese is absolutely perfect.

I just don't get it. I AM NOT a picky dude, so I respectfully request any response please to tell me what I'm missing here. We've lived in dupont for long enough to see this place change names/owners like 5 different times. I will say McNamaras is better than anything that has ever had the misfortune of occupying this location. I'd say about once every two years we decide, against our better judgment and recollection, to come here. The service and food has gotten a little better, but the PRICES!!!?!! Holy s***! The happy hour boasts an $8 mug of craft beer?!?!...dude, a mug of craft beer (and much bigger selection BTW) is $6.50 AT REGULAR PRICE across the street. So here's the skinny on our latest "WTF did we come here again" trip: Total of 12 people in the bar at 6pm on a Sunday. Plenty of open seating. Menus and drink orders were delivered/taken in a timely manner (maybe a little slow for how few people were here). One of the deciding factors to come here for us was the "all day Sunday happy hour"...wow. To say this was disappointing would be like saying the titanic sprung a leak. Maybe if you're looking for pitchers of bud light, you'd be happy here, but even then, those are overpriced. I ordered my burger cooked medium and it was burnt to a crisp. I don't mind a well-done burger...I'm not above it, but this beast literally tasted like bbq grill scrapings. Other than that, the toppings were good. My wife loved her fish and chips, but when she ordered a drink with the food order, the drink never came out until she said, " can I please get that drink"? The waitress comp'd the order pretty well, so that was nice. $12 for a burger and $15 for Fish n chips is OUTRAGEOUS though...this s*** ain't gourmet son, this is bar food prepared mediocrely. In the end, we'll probably come back in another couple years after we've forgotten why we don't like this place. Do yourself a favor, and go across the street to Farrellis.

Come here on Sunday, it's Happy Hour all day long and the menu is amazing! We had the Shepard's Pie today, the BBQ Sliders, we shared the Deep Fried Zucchini and Mushrooms and had 2 beers each and it came to 34 bucks. Are you kidding???? The food was as good as any high class restaurant or better! The BEST food and the BEST service! Love, love, love stopping here on our way home from cleaning our cabin, what a treat!!!! And air conditioning on a 92 degree day...yes please!!!!

Stopped in today around noon for lunch on a busy 4th of July weekend. Our waitress Amanda was quick and very helpful. I had the "salmon" fish and chips, the balance of the group had cod fish and chips and the wings. Each meal was great and all agreed they would order it again. Note: The fries were really light and crisp. Irish Death, Blue Moon and of course a Guinness were the beer selections. The menu has other tradition Irish pub food and we look forward to exploring them on future visits. Overall good value for your time and money.

My husband and I went here for one of the AFC play off games. First of all, it was freezing. The staff apologized because they were having issues with the heat. Second, our rum and diet cokes were very weak. We mentioned this to the waitress and no joke the next round tasted like there was no rum at all. Lastly both of us liked the potato skins but that might we were both sick. Won't be going back. In fact at half time we went across the street.

Worst service I've ever experienced. Me and my wife came her for our lunch anniversary and were sat down and they took our drinks. The waiter didn't come back for 15 minutes to take out order. Once we ordered our food didn't come for 40 minutes. The server kept apologizing but that doesn't make up for the poor quality of service we experienced. Food was ok and that's why they got two stars.

My husband and I rolled in at 11:10 pm needing a little sustenance after a visit to a nearby casino. Only the pub section was open and they were only serving the happy hour menu at that time of night. Our server greeted us quickly and soon after brought us our pints of choice. We ordered the shepherds pie and the bangers and mash to share, and the happy hour portions were perfect! The Guinness gravy is really good and the onions that came with the bangers and mash were pretty tasty. The shepherds pie could have used a little more salt, but I was pleased that the colcannon (mashed taters) was made from real potatoes and not instant. We were back in the car by 11:50, so service was decent as well.

Have been before for HH and it's been good. This time, I ordered breakfast for take out. I was not impressed as they gave us old potatoes and old pancakes. We ordered corned beef Benedict, the sauce is good & country fried steak - the country sauce is not so good. Would not go back there for breakfast. They give a survey code in the receipt but it's not even working, would love to indicate that they served us old pancakes and potatoes (it's bad and very obvious).

I love this place! Haven't had a negative experience yet. Food, good. Drinks, good. Wait staff, fun. TVs galore. Love the jukebox. Great times to be had at Mac's!

We went on a Sunday afternoon, they weren't busy at all maybe 5 tables total including the bar being used. Waited forever to get our drink order, waited even longer to place our order and then the waiter finally brought our food. It was cold and tasteless. We won't ever go back.

Tot-chos are freaking amazing! And whenever I'm craving a burger, this is my go to place. This is always a great place to go to for happy hour and football. Drinks are good. Lots of great beer selections, though I'm a wine person. There's good choice for that as well. Go with the suggestion of another reviewer and don't get the fish tacos. I am a fish taco connoisseur and it's just not worth it. The staff is always so nice and accommodating. If you're over 21, the bar is the place to sit. I really need to go on a Wednesday for trivia night...

I am a local and love to support local business. We don't come here alot because even though the food is good, no one seems to know what they are doing. It is always someone new or they are understaffed. This time we came before the dinner rush thinking we were being smart :) Walked in at 4:55, were greeted and sat promptly. After about 10 minutes of not being helped (there were only 3 other tables full and what appeared to be 3 servers) the hostess came and asked us if she could get us something to drink. After we got our drink, another 15 minutes goes by...no one saying we will be right with you, can I get you an appetizer...NOTHING. So we decided after sitting there for 30 minutes with no one seemingly caring that we were there we got up and left. I could only imagine how long it would have taken to get our food if we couldn't get helped! So we went up the freeway to the Ram and had fabulous service and delicious food!! Sorry McNamara s, after 5 years I would hope you would have your act together but you have proven time and time again that you do not.

I have been to McNamara's a few times, but ever since the first time, it's been increasingly disappointing. I'm pretty sure today will be the last for us. The service was extremely slow and disorganized, and definitely not great if you have children with you. We had a kids cup come to us cracked and leaking slowly over the table, in which I had to use all the napkins to wipe up, and then get up to ask for more napkins and cup. The kids mac & cheese was extremely over saucy and was actually penne, not macaroni. It was so messy that napkins couldn't even keep up the mess of a 2 year old. The server got the kids meals out before our meals, which was fine except they were done eating about 20 minutes before we even got our food. Had to order a side of fries to keep them content so we could eat. Plus the server routinely forgot who had which order. We went for an early lunch to avoid any rush so it wasn't busy, but it still took us well over an hour to have lunch. For the hassle of it all, it definitely wasn't worth the prices they charge for the meals (which weren't aweful but nothing spectacular either).

Stopped in for lunch and had the shepherd's pie (with beef as opposed to the more traditional lamb because after all shepherds tend sheep not cows...) Huge portion but bland, bland, bland and oily. I had to add both pepper and salt to get any taste going and then felt like I was eating from a bottle of oil. Not to be repeated.

Well, this place was an 2.5 stars in my personal opinion. The best part about this place are two things: the cleanliness and the beer/alcohol selection. I was glad that this Irish pub had some micro-brews. So I was happy about that. Now for the down side of it all. The food was just awful. I got the roast beef dip. The bread was stale, the beef was dry and flavorless. And I asked for ranch dressing and instead I got some nasty Italian dressing that's been left out in the sun for too long. My friend got the pulled pork sandwich and it looked like a hamburger patty. He was not too thrilled about it. I might go back to this place for the alcohol... but it won't be for the food, I know that for sure.

I would have given this place three stars a month ago, but I had an unfortunate experience here that warrants the above rating. I came in on a weekday to grab a quick lunch since I had to be back at the office in 45 minutes. It wasn't busy at all and I placed an order for a bacon cheeseburger with onion rings on the side. After about 20 minutes of waiting for my food, I started to wonder if they had forgot my order. Just as I was thinking this, the waitress stopped by my table and explained that the chef accidently placed the onion rings ON my burger and they were remaking it. I would have appreciated the waitress asking me if the chef's mistake would even be an issue (to be honest, I would have taken the burger with the onion rings on it). About 15 minutes later, my burger with a side of onion rings was served to me. Unfortunately, by this time, I had to head back to the office so I had my meal boxed up to go. When I returned to the office, I was about to eat my burger when I noticed RAW MEAT sticking underneath the bottom bun. I threw out my entire meal and I don't plan on going back to McNamara's for food ever again.

Monday night all wine $15 a bottle. Can't beat that! The salmon was a bit over done as was the broccoli. The wait staff was excellent. Think I'll try the all you can eat fish and chips Tuesday evening.

Food was pretty good but building is very plain on the inside. There is supposedly live music and trivia some nights and we may stop back in for that. Overall, not terribly impressed and would rather drive to some other places nearby. Staff was super nice....an wait time wasn't too long

Lovely little pub! The Irish soda bread is a perfect combination for the steak and Guinness stew. Yummmmmmmmy.

  • Val C.

4 stars for the food - but I'd give the service a "5" Wait staff is always friendly, in a down-to-earth, non-phony way! (Especially Ryan - who helped us last time we were in!) Service has always been prompt. I like the atmosphere. It is mood-setting and comfortable - not bright and loud. My only suggestion: The corned beef isn't 'fall off the fork' tender... and with a name like McNamara's - it should be. Cook longer maybe? I can't wait to come back and check up on this!!!! :D Thank you for a great experience everytime we stop by!

I have been traveling to Dupont, WA for work and have eat here a lot. Dupont is a small town and this is the best place to eat in Dupont. Food is good wait staff is average and drinks are great. There is no 5 star restaurant in Dupont so if that's what you are looking for then you need to drive 40 minutes to Seattle.

Lunch time in DuPont leaves a lot to be desired, but we dropped into a place called McNamara's Pub & Eatery. 3 stars by my fellow Yelpers, I didn't check first, and I paid the price. It was a nice day so we sat outside, 5 tables, 3 taken with 8 people total. After seating us, we had to ask for a cloth to wipe the leftover cabbage and grease off the table. I thought we were in a leper colony, Boe, the server was never around. Looking for a lighter dish we chose 2 orders of Lime Cilantro Tacos, 1 chicken, 1 cod. Yes I know this is a Irish Pub kinda place but if it's on your menu you need to give it equal time! We had iced tea as a time killer until our lunch was ready, stop me if I'm wrong but is iced tea supposed to be cold and have ice? Ya I thought so, my partner had to go inside for a refill and ice, after close to an hour the Lime Cilantro Tacos arrived. The tacos were tough and chewy, chicken and cod were barely there, we had to search to find the cilantro and the lime quarters were grabbed from the bar. Homemade tortilla chips and salsa, only if your home is a greasy, overcooked out of the jar kinda place. We ate them because we hungry otherwise they would still be there waiting for the next unsuspecting patron. Boes only explanation of the wait was that the kitchen is killing us today, that explains the smell. Boe apologized for the wait and said that one of our tacos would be free, about now I was thinking about giving them back anyhow. For the first time in my life McDonalds looked like a better choice, and just a few yards away, next time I'm in DuPont I know where lunch will be.

This is the second time I have eaten at this restaurant. Both times was with a group. Both times a reservation was made for the banquet room and both times upon arrival the banquet had other customers in it. It was double booked, reservation not written down, blah, blah, blah. In addition the food is way over priced and not that good either. Service is unbearably slow. Seriously, how long does it take to pull a pint of beer? Or bring water? Or take our order and then give us the food we ordered 45 minutes ago? The wait staff is nice, I will give them that, but dinner shouldn't take 2-3 hours.

    (1)
  • Holly L.

One star simply because the blonde hostess was friendly. Seriously, McNamara's? $13 for a to-go Cobb salad with no bacon, one tiny strip of avocado, less than half a boiled egg and less than a cup of lettuce? They should be embarrassed and call and offer me my money back. Wtf?! Do not go here, even if it is one of the few options for hotel guests nearby. The teriyaki places and Subway are much better options.

Hmmm where do I begin. First off this place isn't bad it's just forgetful on so many levels. The restaurant wasn't off putting nor was it inviting, the waiter wasn't attentive nor was he absent. The food was hot and somewhat tasty but not worth recommending. The only thing that made an already mediocre situation spiral down even further was the excessive waiting. It seems "the wait staff" was confused as to who was assigned to our table. The guy who seated us informed that our waitress would be (forgot name) so we sat and waited....and waited......and waited.....then he came back and took our drink orders and we waited some more...and waited some more. Finally, and to our delight, he informed that since we had yet to receive a waitress, he would assume the duty.

ate here twice food always came out cold. Like my gravy was no longer a liquid cold.

The herb balsalmic chiciken breast is totally lacking in any herb flavor. It is touted as tender and it is mostly dry and tough. The onion soup is excellent. Very tasty. My wife always has a burger and fries and is never disappointed. The shark bites are good.

Living in Dupont, we eat at all the local places in town. What I like about McNamara's is their beer selection, their Shephard's Pie and we always get great service. The only negatives is it can be expensive sometimes but they have great happy hour prices all day on Sunday. Their food is average with the exception of what I mentioned above. It's not a bad place to eat but it's not my favorite place either but I'll still continue going to support the local businesses. You should at least go visit and give them a try!

McNamara's is the quintessential comfort food destination. If someone would have told me a couple of months ago that "Irish-Inspired American Food" would become the first thing that comes to my mind whenever I feel stressed or in need of some gastric-loving, I would have spit Jameson in their face and cackled like a leprechaun. But here I am, cramming for exams, dreaming of Guinness stew, mashed-potatoes with cream and braised kale, corned beef... The menu is totally delicious, it was designed by a Culinary Institute of America trained chef and its obvious. The ingredients are fresh, the dishes are unique and yet still common enough to be comforting, and the portions are really generous. I haven't gotten to try their breakfast yet, but I'll for sure try some when I come back from California to visit home. The breakfast menu looks off the charts delicious. The waitstaff is attentive and warm. The service is excellent. The ambiance is wonderful, the inside is brand new, cozy and well appointed. There was obviously a lot of careful thought and consideration put into the layout and design of the restaurant and it makes for great dining and drinking experiences. Speaking of drinking, the bar is awesome. The drinks are FABULOUS and the bartenders are fun and great at what they do. The dining room is perfect for family dining (and they offer a nice children's menu) and the bar is perfect for hanging out with friends and watching the game. So next time you're unbelievably stressed out, or sad, or feeling really any feeling whatsoever... do yourself a favor and go to McNamara's for a comfort food smorgasbord. Order the sweet potato fries, ANY drink off the menu (preferably one showcasing one of the whiskeys from McNamara's HUGE and amazing whiskey collection), the Guinness stew, and a cheesecake for dessert. Or basically anything off the menu-- its all pretty fantastic. And I'll guarantee your day gets a whole lot better.

McNamara's serves the best breakfasts around! The potatoes o'brian are delicious. The salmon eggs Benedict is the most delicious I've ever had! Don't miss having breakfast here! Ask to sit in Eric's section. He's great!

Revisited McNamara's and the service and the food wasn't quite the same as my last experience. I ordered the Guiness stew and it was average. The staff didn't seem to be as friendly as my last visit and it took quite a long time to get our food. On the positive, the happy hour beer prices were good for domestics. Not sure, however, I would pursue another visit.

This bar/restaurant was mediocre as far as the food went, they definitely can improve in that department. Their beer and alcohol selection was pretty good. As far as being a legitimate Irish Pub you would expect, I would have to say you might be disappointed. Its more like a commercialized bar/restaurant that has some Irish flair to it (i.e. some selection of foods, and drinks).

So Came here for happy hours with some friends who are about to leave town in a week. Sad to see them go but... reason to celebrate none the less. So... happy hour menu Pork sliders Tacochos Wings Chicken Fingers Chips and salsa and etc Drinks to include house wine, well drinks and some of the beers they have on tap. The atmosphere, people just finishing work, who want to sit out in the sun, or inside and watch the highlights of the morning or previous nights game as they unwind from the day's work. S The server??? :Friendly as soon as you walk in and promp. Knows when to fill your drinks or your plates. Apologetic if they feel as though they missed something. Over all??? Solid HH located in dupont and happily come here again. :)

This place is amazing! From the clean and spacious interior to the great variety of menu items, this place has it going on. The first time I had eaten here, it was an accident. My husband had wanted to take me to another restaurant across the street he'd been talking up, but when we went inside that establishment, he noticed that the owners must have changed since his last visit and didn't have the same desire to eat there at that moment. So, with our appetites increasing, we decided to find another place to try nearby. McNamara's stood out and we decided to give it a try. From that first time to the most recent visit weeks ago, we've been continuously impressed by the food! We've tried the majority of menu offerings and haven't been disappointed yet. There really is something for everyone here; you don't have to particularly love Irish(-inspired) food to enjoy a meal here. From seafood, chicken, beef and even lighter fare like salads, McNamara's has it covered. The service can occasionally use a bit of improvement (such as waitstaff needing to be a bit more attentive on drink refills), but not to the point that I'd deduct a star from the rating. Also, if you enjoy the first visit well enough, do sign up for their e-mail club to get a free meal on your birthday and some other perks. In fact, my husband recently celebrated his birthday here and the restaurant was cool with him showing his birthday meal e-mail/voucher on his smart-phone (and then they politely asked him to delete it from his inbox). So glad we stumbled upon this place! Please try the Irish Soda Bread and colcannon with Guinness gravy if not the Reuben!

I've never been dissappointed. McNamara's is very consistent and serves great food. The last time I was there I ordered the Tot-chos for the first time. THEY ARE OUT OF THIS WORLD! This is a fun place to grab a drink and play some darts or pool. They also have a night where kids eat free. We love McNamara's!

  • Kim F.

Meh. I think that sums up MacNamara's. If there were more options, it would likely not be as busy as it is. The food is mediocre and typical american sports bar fare without anything to set it aside. The service is good and the atmosphere is perfectly ok, but overall, MacNamara's is average for the area. There is nothing particularly Irish about the food or atmosphere, and it really is not terribly different from an Applebee's or a Chili's. This is a bit of a disappointment, given the wide variety of mom and pop style independent eateries in the region.

Excellent service, clean, great Guinness! Food was good, a little bland for me, but that may be exactly how Irish fare is served. Servings were generous.

My friends and I came on a busy Thursday night with the bar packed with a game on and the other side equally as busy, but completely lacking service. Our waiter was nice, but DANG! How long does it take to refill an ice tea? He walked by our table plenty of times and even saw the empty glass but did nothing. We waited for what felt like forever for our appetizer, fried zucchini and mushrooms (delicious btw) and our meal took just as long. For my entree, I had their Reuben and the whole sandwich was just underwhelming not good. I know you're in a rush in the kitchen, but please season your food!! The whole dining experience was just chaotic, but thank god for good company!

I'm so disappointed I can't even put my words together. My first time here, and I had extreme hope for this place. It got most excellent reviews, and they seemed impressive. I was dying for a burger last night. So we go all the way to DuPont to check it out. The hostess was very sweet, along with the waitress. I ordered the Frizzle Fry bc I am a sucker for ailoli anything & the fact it was chipotle ailoli & had crispy onions in it, I was immediately sold. We waited an extremely long time for our two burgers (around a half hour).. And both of us dying of hunger & watching tables around us getting their food after ordering ours... Was a tad disappointing, but we do understand that things happen sometimes! Well. Our food came. I had about 7.5 French fries on my plate, but the burger looked good... Then I cut it in half & noticed that even though I requested no pink... It had some pink in it. I took a bite keeping my mind open, and all I tasted was a very bland untasty burger. It actually tasted like those microwave hamburgers you buy in frozen food. The onions were soaked in grease. The ailoli was put on one spot of my burger & was such a tiny amount I couldn't even taste it. And chipotle anything is usually pretty easy to taste the flavor of. The cheese seemed as though it had been heated twice. I paid $1.09 for mushrooms that literally tastes like they opened a can of them & threw them on my burger. Like possibly my burger got ready first & awaiting my husbands mine got cold so they tossed it in the microwave. My bun was so crispy & over toasted, it actually cracked & fell apart when I took a bite. My 7.5 fries were just mediocre. They were, as well soaked in a bit much grease.. But I also paid for ranch, which that is pretty tasty I will admit. Thankfully I had that. My drink cup sat empty from before my meal came until after I was done giving my burger a chance. I put my napkin on the side of my plate & a little over half my burger sat on my plate, torn apart, obviously to my dissatisfaction. And not only did my server, but about 5 servers, and a possible manager passed by my plate at the edge of the table & nobody ever said a word to me. And nobody asked to refill my glass. When our server returned she took my plate, looked directly at it, said nothing, then I had to ask for a refill. She returns with a refill, and the bottom of it was watered down (bc my ice had melted over the course of time it sat empty) and didn't even add more ice to my cup. And I guess we went on Night Club night as well. We chose the restaurant side bc I don't like bars bc the music is always too loud. Even sitting by the window away from the Pub side, the music was SO incredibly loud, I couldn't even hear the server or my husband speaking. I love Irish eateries. I am a foodie. And I love a good burger. And I am, unfortunately, so not impressed with anything. My husband & I have been considering moving to DuPont because it is so close to his work, but if restaurants like this are our choices for dining out in the city.. I'll pass.

Not sure what's up with the bad reviews. I've been here twice in the past week and it's amazing.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhh McNamara's. Thank you for reminding me Saturday why you are my favorite. We were not COMPLETELY impressed the last time we came for food and drinks, but this past weekend, our faith in McNamara's was renewed again. :) We had signed up for the email club and had a $10 off coupon for our food and decided to give McNamara's another go. Our waitress this past weekend was Jessie and she was AMAZING!!! The boyfriend got the Guiness and Angry Orchard drink and I got the Mac Daddy (large). That was WAYYYYYYYYY too much alcohol - These were 32oz DRINKS!!! While they were WELL worth the price, one of us had to drive home, so the poor boyfriend ended up drinking about half of mine as well. Both were great by the way - I don't like Guinness but with the Angry Orchard, it cuts some of the bitter taste. The Mac Daddy was like a melon-y Long Island. A bit too sweet to get again, but definitely worth trying once. For food, we got our usual Reuben Rolls - They were MUCH better this time than the last time in the sense that they were more filled with Reuben, warmer, fresher, and overall, just better. The boyfriend got the Fish and Chips (cod with pub fries) which were done to perfection, and I got the Reuben Sandwich with Tater Tots. I got the sauerkraut on the side because I'm picky and wasn't sure if Id' like it, but it was WONDERFUL. It was crunchy, fresh, and a damn good sauerkraut. Of course, for me, the best part was the tater tots - They were SUPER fresh and extra crunchy! My ONLY complaint about the food was that there were a couple of large globs of fat in the Reuben. Now...While this shows a good, high-quality Rueben, fat makes me gag and I want no part of eating it. I took it off before I ate it, but it would have been nice if they had done it before it got to me. At the end of the day, another damn good meal and can't wait to go back.

Awesome food and great trivia night! The Rueben Rolls are phenomenal and go great with one of their local IPAs!

Seems UNDERSTAFFED as we waited too long to order, too long for our soup, meal, everything! Then, when our food finally arrived we suspect it was sitting there for awhile because it was BARELY WARM. We were so hungry though we just ate it. She didnt come check on us anyway to see how our food was so rather then sit there for who knows how long we just took what we got. We meet up here a lot after work and eat in the bar area as it is a large and they have comfortable seating and it's a nice atmosphere. I also enjoy the type of food. In the past it's been very good but I want it hot. I'm not thinking that is too much to expect of a restaurant. As far as the slow service it's not the end of the world if they are unusually slammed but I'm thinking it's poor management as it's been happening more often. I will go again and see if they have fixed their problems. We shall see. ****went back and service was bad. Bad. Dupont deserves better.

Good typical Irish style pub food. On Sundays it's all day happy hour and they have some of their main dishes on happy hour special. Can't beat that! The fish tacos were also quite tasty. The fried zucchini and mushroom app was pretty heavy, but that's to be expected. Good Irish beer and good Irish food at decent prices. If you're in the area it's worth a stop since there aren't many restaurants around.

Ordered their house special burger, "black and blue", it was super dry! You'd figure they have their house burgers down to the tee!

When this place first opened it was my number one choice for a date night or family dinner. Now, I won't even walk through the door. I can't count how many times I've been disappointed with the service and the food. They're under a new manager, who can't be over 25 and has no idea what he's doing. A few months ago, I ordered a burger and when it was finally brought out to me I noticed it was significantly smaller than the burger I ordered 2 weeks prior. I talked to the manager and he brushed me off saying "they're the same size as they've always been". That response made my blood boil. I had never seen this guy in my life, and after years of coming here and knowing exactly what's what, he has the nerve to tell me what size they are?? No thanks. As if I didn't learn my lesson, I applied for a job there. I went on an interview and never heard a call back. I went back a week later and saw the same person who interviewed me holding an open interview!! I've got plenty of restaurant experience so I was curious as to why i didn't hear anything. After she was finished, I went up to her and introduced myself and said "I interviewed here last week, and I never heard anything back". Her reply? "Sorry to hear that." I turned and walked away. Never have I felt so disrespected. I definitely won't be returning until they hire new and polite staff.

Very disappointing. We flew into Seattle and were driving to Portland. We were pretty hungry when we got to this area and started looking around for a place to eat. We decided to try McNamara's. They put us in a small dining area saying the big sections were reserved for a party. No problem. We were the first ones in there. Waitress took our drink orders and our food orders. My husband, son and I like to bet each other on things (bragging rights only) so we decided to bet how long it would take the food to come out. My husband said 12 minutes, I said 15 and our son said 20. Well after 32 minutes we were DONE waiting. Waitress only came over once to check on us and to say it would be just another minute or so. That was at 20 minutes. At 32 minutes we decided to leave because we were so hungry. We went to McD's instead. When we told the waitress we were leaving she told another waitress...this is the 3rd time this week the kitchen has done this! I read the reviews and it seems this happens a lot. What's worse is that 2 other tables that came in after us got served first! We don't live in the area so we won't be back anyway but I hope for others they fix the problem. Seems to be a common occurrence. They need to get better kitchen help.

In past visits the food has been good. This time my food was almost tasteless and there was something disgusting in my drink (apparently left over strawberry mix - it was stringy with little seeds attached) and I didn't realize until I had drank half of it. I notified the staff and no one really seemed that concerned. As an employee I would have been embarrassed, disgusted and very apologetic. All I received was a simple, "I'm sorry, would you like something else?" And when the check was brought, "I removed the diet coke from the bill." Um, yeah! I would fully expect that. I would have rated less based on this visit, however past visits were okay and my husband liked his food. I doubt we will return.

Five stars might be a little strong but the shark bites ate really yummy and crispy. The fries are good and the tarter, which I'm told is house made, is great! My wife enjoyed her cobb salad. Though she got it without blue cheese which I think is a mistake. She also accepted Pepsi instead of Coke in her whiskey coke. If you want to try this place out, come on a Sunday. It was pretty dead and it's happy hour all day. The service was ok. She was nice enough and did her job. Nothing special. Bring a jacket. They have the A/C cranked.

Trifecta: I had this dish. It would have been excellent. If the food was hotter. One of the dishes was not heated through. It is a little spendy for lunch. To be fair; I could have ordered something for less money. But hey, if I did that, what would I have to complain about. Now the good news. I would eat here again and recommend them to friends. The service was pleasant, the restaurant is clean and spacious. The on tap variety is plentiful. Though the one dish was a bit cool the flavors were a treat. The meal was presented well. The chef is not cheap, so you get enough food to walk out satiated. There is plenty of parking in back of the restaurant.

Service was very quick. Waitress was super nice. We utilized a gift card given to us via Costco. I had a special -- chicken Parmesan over noodles. It was odd to me that the sauce wasn't put over the chicken, but plopped on top. The noodles were cooked well. The chicken was a tiny bit over cooked. My fiancé had the bangers and mash and loved it -- but thought there was a wee too many mushrooms in the sauce. The atmosphere was cozy. It was in a great location with plenty of parking.

Good food. Good service. Full bar. WHISKEY DINNER! You should definitely try this place! The Irish Onion Soup and the Irish Stew are two very good cold weather dishes. They taste good, fill you up, and definitely warm you up. Pro Tip: Josh, the bartender, is kind of the best.

I've been here a couple of times with co-workers and it was fine. But the last time I went was in December and I was served raw chicken when I ordered the grilled Chipotle chicken sanwich. The worst part was that I unfortunately ate a lot of it, when I noticed I told the waitress and she saw the raw chicken and immedeately apologized. She was great about taking care of my check, I told her I wanted to talk to the manager and he apologized and offered to send me a gift card in the mail. I puked my guys out in their bathroom so I didn't think I'd be coming back but I gave him my address anyways. It's been a few months and nothing ever came. Everytime I see this place on my way to work I get a bad feeling in my stomach.

Another horrible experience at McNamaras earlier tonight! As I said in my last review, I would only come here again if it was for a function I wanted to attend. This time I came for a friend's farewell party. With close to 20 of us there, food started arriving about 30-45 min after orders were taken. Everyone in our party received their food except for myself and one of the ladies sitting next to me. We ended up waiting for our food for so long that almost everyone else was finished eating before I was able to get an explanation from the waitress that she had put in our order but that the kitchen hadn't seen it on the ticket. About 10 minutes later, someone from the kitchen (I think) came to give us our food, apologized for the delay, and then told us the wait staff hadn't given them our order!! Ahhh! Wait staff blames kitchen, kitchen blames wait staff! I just felt it was downright rude and embarrassing to have 2 of us, within a party of 20, sitting for so long with no food! Many people within the group also made comments about it. As I said before, I will NEVER order another meal from this place. If I want to attend a function there I will simply eat at home first or get a meal somewhere else beforehand. In the meantime, I will continue to spread the word about my experiences here.

My service was good. She was attentive and checked in and was what I expect for service. I ordered the chicken ceasar salad. Very dissappointed. Bland is the only word I can think of. I eat out a lot and usually order this. No pizzazz , just very run of the mill salad. The price is high for this food. I only venture a guess that the owners are not chefs or food connoisseurs because if they were they would not let this out. Being in the restaurant industry years ago, they need to change the chef or the recipe or this place will die a slow death or never realize it's full potential. Great ambiance and atmosphere.

Food is good. .portions are small. ...price is high. Veggie burger extra 2.09 avocado extra 1.75..jalapeno extra 1.00. Sorry but if they averaged what they are putting out in extra toppings. ..and add the extra 1.50 to every plate customers wouldn't feel ripped off.

This place is okay. Definitely nothing to write home about. It's a little pricey for what you get. It is in a good location though (downtown Dupont across from Farelli's). I've dined here 3-4 times. Decent, but it won't blow you away.

I honestly came here with low expectations- greasy bar food and poor service. I was SO WRONG!! Our server Bri was very attentive, upbeat and accomodati ng. My husband ordered the French dip and I got the Reuben. Both were served nice and hot, and the sweet potato fries were so good! We aren't drinkers so we didn't indulge but we could tell they had a great selection of beers on tap and some fun cocktails too. We have lived in DuPont for over a year and it makes me sad that we are just now trying it! We will definitely be going back, hopefully often!

I want to like this place but the service is horrible. Food is hit or miss whether it comes out hot and the entrees are, in my opinion, overpriced. Tonight our waitress got busy filling sauces or something, all the while forgetting to check on us, refill drinks, or bring the bill. The first time we went was very good, but we'll find another Irish pub to frequent.

One more trip and same results!!! I so much want to give a great review, but I just can't!. Service is always good, BUT the food is inconsistent as hell! Every time, for the last 3 visits in the last year!! Salmon luke warm, steak over cooked and luke warm! Veggies (parsnips and carrots tough and Luke warm)! When they first opened it was better!!!! I think because the owners were present? Not so much these days! Positive side my salad was cold!!!! I have more, but I'm tired!!!!

Was on my way to Portland for brewfest, when all the sudden I got hungry and needed a beer. Who knew that DuPont WA had a good Irish Pub. And on tap of that I happen to stumble on their third birthday party. A lot of fun. Our waiter was good, he suggested the Ale that all proceeds went to a Charity. I went for it, then another, and then I was the one who tapped the keg and got another beer for free. BOOM! Shepherd's pie was really good. The fish tacos not that good, not bad but not something you should get a Irish pub. Had a lot of fun. I will go back

Great Beer selection and great Happy Hour drinks and food (they even have a ALL DAY Happy Hour on Sunday). They have great servers who provide superb customer service as well as honest opinions and recommendations if your the "undecided" eater. They have a decent sized bar seating area that is seat yourself and they also have a decent sized regular seating area of parties that desire a table and more space. OVERALL GREAT RESTAURANT and AWESOME ATMOSPHERE WITH GOOD MUSIC AND TONS OF TV's FOR SPORTS!!!!

So I am yelping this while still in the restaurant. This is my first time here along with my wife. I'll go ahead and start off by saying, VERY unimpressed. It was very noisy and I could hardly hear my wife have a conversation with me, we were pretty much yelling at each other. My wife was wanting a burger so we decided to try this place out. I ordered the Donnie Black and Blue which is a burger with blue cheese and bacon. The bacon was burnt and very charred, like they had nuked it in a microwave for too long. The bun was burned as well. I asked for mine to be cooked medium, but when I took a bite, it was so well done that it was completely dry. It came with a serving of French fries, but it was a serving size for a kids meal. Back to my burger, just to help give you a feel for how dry it was, I had to soak it in the ranch sauce I was using to dip my fries in, which btw their ranch sauce was really good, but that's pretty much the only good thing I can say about my meal. Well, I lied, the server was nice too. Okay, those are the only 2 things I liked about this place. In conclusion, my burger was so dry that they make BURGER KING's WHOPPER seem more desirable, which at the end, I should have chose over this place.

One of our favorites in Dupont! McNamara's is a delicious place for a meal with coworkers, friends, and family. The staff is friendly, courteous, and attentive - and the food is wonderful. Try their sweet potato fries with your next meal!

This has to be one of my favorite restaurants to go to. I have never been disappointed by any of the food that I've had (ranging from the mac n cheese, to the salmon, to some of the more "Irish" foods. The appetizers are amazing. The service can be a little hit and miss but the food well makes up for it.

A cool bar/pub/eatery place, a little nicer atmosphere but not super fancy which is nice. The food is a little more spendy, like 12ish for burger and fries sans drinks. Luckily, so far, it's good food. I had the Hungry Soldier burger, which... I can't remember but it had a lot of stuff although it was a 1.50 extra for the fried egg :/ (which was pretty worth it though). The service was excellent. Pretty decent choice of micro beers, I had the Ninkasi IPA, which was good (go Oregon beer!). It was late on a Sunday night, but even then was pretty quiet, the TV wasn't too loud, and there was no blaring music which honestly is a huge plus, and only a few people there. I want to talk to the people I'm eating with, not listen to someone else's music. Eventually, someone put some money in the jukebox, but even then it wasn't blaring, just annoying (I don't like country, sorry). Overall, nice pub/eatery, great service, good food/beer, maybe a little more pricey but you do get what you pay for. A nice place.

Macs is my go to place when I'm not sure where to go or just wanna get out of the house. Their breakfast is great and portions huge. The food is good, reasonably priced, and they take care of their regulars on their mailing list. I can't believe I haven't let them a review yet. Tonight was an outstanding visit and the service was fantastic. My wife and I went to celebrate her birthday late because I had been gone for her actual bday two weeks ago. Macs had sent her a birthday coupon that was now expired, but they still honored it. Our server, Jess, was the epitome of a professional. My wife commented that it was obvious she cared about her job and wanted to do the best she could. She was attentive and genuine. Thanks, Macnamaras, you will continue to be my go to place (even though I live in steilacoom and should choose Topside...it just sucks in comparison)!

I went today and even I normally enjoy the food, today something the first time to me. I ordered a sandwich Salad combo. The sandwich was dry, bad tasting (beef). The meat was burned, so Ä° told the waitress It's No good, the full sandwich was on the plate and all what I got was a sorry and she rushed away, bringing me the check over the full amount!!!! And for my friend who ordered sweet potato fries, it was regular once. Very dissapointing.

This place has a great Cobb salad that keeps me coming back, but it always has the slowest service of any restaurant I have ever been to. It doesn't matter what time of day or even what day I visit. The service never changes from super slow.

  • Matt B.

Friendly staff and good variety of beer. They have rotating beers on tap also. I've had just about everything on the menu and then some. If you're a fan of burgers, the Hungry Soldier is solid. But if you feel like some geniune Irish food, try their Shepherd's Pie. It's a healthy portion to leave room for your Guinness beers!! On Wednesday nights, Trivia gets crazy. Hands down, the best trivia in the Northwest, hosted by K-Pod! It'll get packed, so you have to get there at least an hour early to get a spot on Wednesday nights. Definitely worth checking out if you're a fan of traditional Irish pubs.

Twice I have tried to enjoy an evening out at Mac's... Twice I have been disappointed. I can't understand how a restaurant can allow such poor service continue. Owner's take note: Hire some experienced servers. Hire a bartender that fills your servers drink orders or add an additional bartender to just fill drink orders. Guaranteed any "problems" you may experience on any given night will be forgiven if you don't have to wait 30 min for a refill or a first round. Did I mention our increase in revenue from those additional drink orders... Which would pay for the extra staff you need? Bottom line is this- when a guest walks through your door excited to get some great food... It should come with great service. My server should acknowledge my existence keep my glass filled and ask how If I need anything. How hard is that?

  • Suzie V.

Weak drinks and so-so food. I don't want a stinking jack and pepsi. And if you're going to use pepsi, add more jack to make up for it. Oh, the artichoke dip looks like baby food. But the bartender is nice and kinda cute...so two stars!

Hit or miss, depending on who's on shift. My last experience, this past Sunday went like this: I waited 47 minutes for one hamburger. The staff also needs to track what promotions are going on in their own restaurant. Overall: good... sometimes. I don't know what these yelpers experienced to give 5 stars, but I'm happy for them.

If you don't mind waiting over 30 minutes to receive a dinner salad, place is fine....I guess. I have been to McNamara's numerous times and the food was marginal at best, but I decided to give it one last chance before I wrote them off completely. Seating was not a issue, since I was able to seat myself in the bar. The place was a little busy because of an NFL playoff game, so one would assume they would have taken into account for such an occasion and had more of there staff working that afternoon. WRONG. They only had one person behind the bar, but I should mention that he had over 15 tables that he also had to attend to, so I can't really blame him for my service. I thought the Bartender did a great job. He took my order and had my drink to me in a timely manner. My dinner salad seemed watered down and my dinner took nearly an hour. I will say...Parmesan-crusted Dijon chicken breast, was pretty good. Broccoli seemed raw. I blame the management at this point, only because from what I have read from past reviews and from my previous experiences, poor service appears to be the growing trend on here. The GM needs motivate the wait staff, and possibly find a different cook. At the end of the day, the manager ended up comping my meal, which isn't really what I wanted...I told him that, but he insisted. I would rather they take what I had to say as constructive criticism, and fix their issues. I really want to like this place, but I doubt I will ever go back.

Service was good, attentive & quick to get our food. Food was horrible :( lots of fatty meats, Sheppard pie was cold and bland. The stew veggies were not cooked- mostly raw. They are going on their 4 yr anniversary. The food was also quite expensive - average 16 dollars for LUNCH? wow Can't help but wonder if its the bar that keeps them in business cause the food was awful. :/

The hubby and I stopped in last night for dinner in the bar. We always sit in the bar..Good Drinks, Music & Atmosphere. We had Tot-Chos, which are one of our favorites (Sometimes we get the Reuben Rolls-Yummmm). It's hard to decide what to drink because the choices are endless, but we settled on a Seasonal Draft (Great Selection) for him and I got a Glass of Cabernet. We decided on the Bacon Cheddar Meatloaf (So Delish) & Fish & Chips (their Tarter Sauce is Sooo Good), both were Fabulous (as usual). We really enjoy supporting our local businesses and seeing friends & neighbors doing the same!

Bloody Mary Drink special on Sunday was the best part. It was a Seahawks morning game & the manager obviously didn't plan ahead. The bar was full and the two servers while polite, were slow due to the big crowd. Didn't think much of the breakfast as the hash was greasy & the toast was very lightly toasted. Others at my table weren't impressed by their selections either. Don't know if I'd go back to eat- maybe just drink.

There's a couple of things to consider on this place. The atmosphere is great if you're just looking to grab a beer and hang out. The beer selection is good and there are plenty of TV's if you're looking to catch a game. Looking for food? I tried the corned beef and cabbage which was decent. The corned beef was a little dry but all and all made for a decent meal. My friend ordered the stew and claimed it was fantastic. I walked away with a buzz and a full stomach. I guess I consider that a successful outing.

Came in on a dead afternoon, sat in the bar area and had a couple of beers, fish tacos, and tater tots covered in the worst factory made fake cheese sauce. This was almost certainly the worst food I have eaten anywhere in a year. Also service was slow even though I was almost the only one there. Will not be back.

How long does it take to make a salad??? Waiting about an hour to pick up order for Caesar and Cobb salad...plus nobody came to the front to check until 50 min into waiting. Canceled the order and went to McDonald's next door. Never again!!!

LOUSY-BAD service. It is obvious that management either don't read the reviews or just plain don't care what folks say or write. I've gone there a few times, and each time the serive is bad. Either they mess up my order or they take way too long to refill my glass when it's empty. They need to work on their customer service skills and efficiency. Another observation is that they do not have enough beer mugs. One night I was there, and they said that they had run out of beer mugs...how does an Irish Pub run out of beer mugs? So instead, of a beer mug, I was served two pints. I'm sorry, two pints is not the same asa beer mug. But on the positive side the food is pretty good.

McNamara's Pub & Eatery is your classic Irish bar situated in a very un-classic Dupont, WA strip-mall situation. In fact, the setting left me a little uneasy about what I was getting in to when I wandered in to McNamara's to catch the last quarter of a Seahawks game and grab some HHour grub to fuel up post-golf/pre-drive-home. This pub did the trick, solving all of our problems in a... well... A-OK manner. The fare here is what you'd expect from an Irish pub, with some definitely non-Irish food mixed in (totchos, queso, etc). But in all respects, it has a rounded menu of mostly-Irish pub food. Sunday means all-day happy hour in the bar, and we sampled some bangers & mash ($7.99), a cobb salad ($6.99) and totchos ($5.99). The happy hour beer was Widmer's Drifter for $3.75. None of these prices are particularly handsome happy hour prices. Drifter shouldn't cost much more than $4.50/pint ever, which would put this at not even $1-off per pint for HH (unless the beer here is simply expensive). The pints are not imperial, but merely 16oz (which is fine, but not really at the price). The food is all okay - passable for pub food, but the totchos are depressingly covered in what seems to be Que Bueno cheese sauce. For the price, I'd expect real cheese. I almost ordered the queso and chips ($3.99) but was glad I didn't when I got the totchos - I'm guessing it's basically just a cup of Que Bueno and some chips. Even the Cobb was fairly small for the price. and while decent, was nothing I'd strive to order again. The HHour burger was even $7.99! It could be great, I don't know. We got bangers and mash instead, the highlight of which was the smashed potatoes which were actually pretty tasty. Staff were all friendly and courteous and on-point, and numerous TV's were displaying the game. I got a good family vibe from the place and the spirit selection would keep me happy were I in need. All of those other components are what the three stars here are predicated upon. I'd come here for a game in a pinch, but for dinner alone I'd head elsewhere.

A little extra effort on the part of the chef/manager/owner and this could easily be 4-5*; almost tempted to give it 2*, except there are few other restaurants to eat in DuPont, so if you are hungry and are driving through town, this isn't a bad place (very convenient freeway access). My husband and I were golfing nearby and stopped for lunch on the way in and dinner on the way out. Lunch: Porter Bacon Cheeseburger: probably one of the best burgers I've ever had. I don't even like bacon on my cheeseburger but it wasn't overpowering and the marinated mushrooms were heavenly. Tots/fries/sweet potato fries: all were excellent and served hot (unlike dinner service) Chipotle Chicken Wrap: tasty, but my husband and I both commented that it seemed more like a lettuce wrap than anything else (extremely skimpy on the chicken -- lucky if I had 5 tidbits in the whole wrap) Dinner: happened to be Sunday all-day happy hour, so we ordered tater tots & gravy and tater tot-chos b/c we liked them so well at lunch. Both of them came out within minutes, but were cold. And cold tots are not that tasty. Not sure I would order either again. While the waitress described the tot-chos queso sauce as something very complex, it tasted more like cheese-whiz. Similarly, the gravy was described as a thick sausage/mushroom gravy. It was definitely thick, but tasted like straight beef broth reduction (I missed the sausage/mushroom part of the gravy, but not sure it would have been tasty with cold tots in any case). My husband also ordered the shepard's pie but was disappointed as he indicated it was more mashed potatoes than anything else. I ordered a SW chicken salad, which is tough to mess up - and they didn't. Great and friendly customer service. Evening service was definitely not staffed sufficiently; however, waitress was very friendly. Food was happily taken off bill that was cold and that not eaten. Would like to see chef/manager/owner work a little more on execution. This could be such a great restaurant with very little changes and just a little more oversight.

The service here was horrible!! We got seated. They gave us our waters and took our order and no one came by to check on us for 20 minutes! The server never even came by to check on us once after she took our order. She didn't even deliver the food, our appetizers were delivered by the hostess and she brought them to the wrong table. The other server brought our lunches to us. Our water glasses were always empty. Finally our server came by to drop off the check. That was the only time we saw her. If, you want good service don't bother to come here.

We happened to be in the area on business and needed some food before heading North. We searched Yelp and decided to try McNamara's because of the Irish. The wife and I both love Irish food so we started with soda bread. This was not a good sign as the bread was void of taste and moisture. Neither one of us was willing to order authentic Irish food based on this beginning. I had a horseradish encrusted salmon that you could not taste any horseradish. The salmon was over cooked and dry. I wish I could be like chef Ramsey and rant and rave at what a pathetic meal it was. My wife had a flank steak sandwich with little meat, lots of onion and what tasted like bottled barbecue sauce. If you really are a fan of Irish food take the drive to Ocean Shores and go to Galloway's. Awesome food with live entertainment most weekend nights. The soda bread is so good you good make a meal out of it. Guess I better go write a review for them. Darby O'Gill would turn over in his grave for McNamara's calling themselves an Irish Pub. The only bright spot was the beer cause it was made elsewhere.

I love this place! Home made cheese sticks that are to die for! Buffalo chicken salad that kicks buffalo wild wings tail!! Even the lemonade is delicious! One of our favorite DuPont spots!

I've been watching this restaurant get ready to open for a while, and was very excited to have a chance to pop in for a bite today. My wife and I each had a specialty drink. Mine was a Peach Screwdriver and was delicious. We split our meals to better appreciate the food there. I ordered The Bricklayer burger, which was explained as being a whole meal in one burger, and it certainly was. It had colcannon (mashed potatoes with kale) with gravy on it, and tasted INCREDIBLE. My wife's sandwich (the name escapes me) featured large chunks of steak and sauteed onions on a delicious hoagie-type of roll. The staff was enthusiastic, and gave great recommendations. I can't wait to go back. Loved it!

Pros: Friendly staff and kid-friendly. Cons: Expensive and not vegetarian-friendly (only 1 veg dish on the menu - a gardenburger). Overall, the food was decent and our experience was good. But for the price? Too much for this family of 5! I'm glad we tried it, but we probably won't go back.

This place is brand spanking new, though I had heard about it opening for a few weeks. When I heard it was going to be an Irish Pub, I was happy but I wasn't exactly doing cartwheels. The greater Olympia/Lacey area has a few Irish-style pubs already, namely Pints and Quarts and O'Blarney's. I wasn't sure what this place was going to do differently, but lemme say, I am very glad we went. First off, the inside of the building, which used to house the Harbor Rock Grill, had been remodeled with lots of dark, rich tones, and the wait staff dresses much more conservatively in starched white shirts, ties, aprons, and black pants. So overall, the place has a much higher brow appeal than a simple pub. The menu is generous, but not overwhelmingly huge. It contains old Irish-American favorites like Bangers and Mash and Corned Beef and Cabbage. Another house specialty appears to be the Horseradish Crusted Salmon. There is also Irish Soda Bread and various interpretations on potatoes. If salad is your thing, they have a lot to choose from. There is also a kid's menu, so the restaurant is family friendly. I started with a house specialty cocktail, a Strawberry Basil Lemondrop. It was absolutely fantastic, with the right amount of sweetness to balance the citrus. The basil is very faint, but just noticeable enough to enhance the real strawberry flavor. As it was rather early for a full entree, we stuck to the sandwich and burger menu. My husband ordered the "Bricklayer" Burger, which has a nicely grilled burger patty with bacon and cheese, but it's topped off with colcannon (real mashed potatoes mixed with kale) and a dark Guinness gravy. You would think it was a mess, but it wasn't. It was constructed so well, and the proportions modest enough, that you could actually pick it up and eat it with your hands. The flavors were absolutely perfect. Not too salty, as I feared it may be with restaurant gravy involved. It had the flavor profile of a homemade gravy. It's definitely a new favorite. I ordered the Flank Steak Sandwich, which was stuffed full of perfectly cooked, tender flank steak pieces and caramelized onions on a soft ciabatta-style roll. Served on the side were potato chips they make fresh to order. Most house chips are a little on the tough side, but these were really light and airy, and seasoned with salt and pepper. They provide a chili lime dipping sauce on the side, which was also well flavored. We will be returning very soon to try some of the entree items and more of the cocktails. With the incredibly friendly staff, warm atmosphere, fantastic cocktails, and delicious food, McNamara's promises to be a great addition to the local Irish Pub scene.

Besides the booze, about the only thing Irish about this place is the name. They've got a few selections of the mandatory pub fare, which are average to good, but McNamara's could blend in with any of the standard bar chains like TGIF, Ruby Tuesdays, Applebee's, etc. Overpriced for decent sized portions. The reuben was unimpressive and the steaks are just stupid-expensive. Kid-friendly with unremarkable kids menu. I do love the Iron Horse Irish Death draught, which I haven't seen anywhere else and does not taste as good in bottles if you can find them. Service has been everything from absentminded and slow to johnny-on-the-spot depending on the day/night I've been there. I've gotten orders that were correct and orders overcooked and incorrect. (Seriously, am I the only one other than school trained chef who knows what medium rare is?! Why is that so hard?) Wait times have ranged from 10min at the most to "walk right in...as soon as someone looks up and sees you at the unmanned hostess station." Biggest draw for this place is that it's at the entrance to DuPont off exit 118, which means that it's convenient and also the closest such place by at least 5-10 miles. It also means you don't have to brave I-5, whose traffic ranges from horrific to retarded at random intervals in that area. Well-played on the location guys. I'll go back multiple times, not because it's all that good, but because it's convenient, it's not all that bad, and I can get hammered and unsuccessfully beg the wife come get me from a couple miles back in the neighborhood, then stumble home.

Absolutely everything we ate was delicious...cowboy burger, BBQ wings, buffalo wings, Ruben, ceasar salad. Even the ranch and blue cheese dressing were one of the best I've tasted! I was also impressed to see shepard's pie and Guinness stew on the menu...takes you back to Ireland!

A good but pricey option for some Irish pub type food. Highlights for me are the Guiness Stew with the soda bread. Very tasty stew and portions were decent. Also notable was the Shepherd's Pie which was very tasty too.

Had lunch, ordered a ceasar chicken wrap, there was no chicken, just ceasar salad. Terrible lunch, and would not eat there again. Atmosphere was cold, and unexciting.

We went here to watch the UFC 134. We were pleasantly surprised with the food and the service. I had the Cobb salad and my husband had a burger with Guinness marinated mushroom. Both were delicious. The best thing was the service. With the fight going on there was a lot of people watching the fight and we had the best server ever. Our server was Ryan. He kept our drinks filled and kept checking on us to see if we needed anything. He was very attentive. The only thing I could say was that the bathroom could of used some attention. We will definitely be back.

Two stars for the food + 1 for the staff. Went last night for the first time for St. Patty's day. Holy crap, it was packed. We got there about 7:00 p.m., at that point it was just starting to get busy. We were told that it would be about an hour wait. By the time the one hour passes by, it was insanely packed. The music was great, the bar was at capacity and had to turn people away. When I got up to ask the hostess if my name had been called yet, she seemed to be very frazzled and stressed out, but she was extremely friendly and honest, saying she wasn't sure when we would be able to get seated because people were taking longer than normal at their tables, no one had left in the last hour that we had been there. She offered us complimentary beers for me and my husband, so we appreciated that and continued to wait, enjoyed the beers and the music. We finally got seated at about 8:45. The owners were very nice to us and seated us themselves. By then, most of the restaurant had cleared out too...it was as if everyone decided to leave at the same time. Anyways, usually my husband is not a patient person, but last night he seemed all right with the wait. On to the food: Appetizer: Shark Bites - deliciously moist cod chunks with a golden beer batter, with fries (we substituted the pub fries with sweet potato fries) and yummy, creamy tartar sauce. Yum. Dinner: I ordered the beef stew (I forgot now what the actual name of it is), and my husband had the shepard's pie. Beef stew was ok ... the gravy was good in it. The beef chunks were medium to large size and melt-in-your-mouth tender. Disappointed that I only got a tiny dollop of colcannon on top, was hoping for more. Soda bread, yum. However, mine came out to the table lukewarm, whereas my husband's shepard pie was straight-out-of-the-oven lava hot. Mine was more soupy with not a lot of chunky veggies and meat in it to satisfy. I liked my husband's pie better, however we've had better at other restaurants. Sidenote: We found this place through Yelp, and my husband - being a burger fanatic - wanted to try what other previous reviewers said was really good - the Bricklayer. Sadly, it was not on the menu, so I don't think they have it any more. Dessert: We wanted to order the Irish Cream Cheesecake, but they had run out. So we tried the Molten Lava Fudge Cake, which was ok but not the best I've had. Drinks: Strawberry Lemonade - Ok, but again, I've had better. Iron Horse Irish Death - A dark beer similar to Guinness that my husband tried - he said he likes it better than Guinness. All in all the bill (plus tip) came to $60. Was it worth the wait? Not really. Was it worth the 60 bucks? Not really. Will we be back again? Yes, we're willing to give it another try. We want to come back for their All You Can Eat Cod and Chips for $12.49 on Tuesdays. The Shark Bites was the stand out of the entire meal.

I had the supposed sheperds pie. It was no where near a shepherds pie. It was mashed potatoes with some sort of soup poured over the top. Over priced and wait staff is slow and inattentive. I would not recommend this place. Maybe management shout hire someone besides young girls and find out what irish food is.

Dropped in late, had a decent happy hour menu with several items from $5-$6 bucks-from a burger with fries, shepherd's pie, to a variety of chicken wings, not bad at all. Service was good and it's a decent local hangout.

Alright I've been here a few times and the common factor here is poor service. Be prepared to wait an above average time for your meal especially at breakfast. The food is simply average nothing special and since they skimp on portions and it's overpriced this place earns two stars.

  • Leah K.

Too expensive and dinner food is meh, but we love it for breakfast! Great waiter (same guy that we always get), love all the eggs Benedict. Good portion sizes (for breakfast). Good omelets :) I hope they can stick around as it's the only place in town to get a real breakfast.

Finally was back in town and the stars aligned for us to go try McNamara's...and we were glad we did. There was a moderate sized crowd and the hostess got us seated and the waitress (Jen) was very efficient in getting our orders out to us, despite the crowd...kids were happy with the choices on their menu...and they are really, really picky. My wife had the chicken pot pie and really enjoyed it, I had the rib-eye with root veggies (carrots and parsnips) and colcannon...great food for us both...dessert was limited choices. I got to sample the mac and cheese (with ham) that my son got, and it was outstanding as well. I got a local stout (Irish Death) which was tasty. Live music in the bar was kicking in as we finished our dinner...but was never overwhelming in the dining area so that we couldn't talk and interact as a family. Great experience. We'll be back! Great comfort food.

Our first time at Mac's was after a late movie. So, was able to take advantage of the late nite menu. We shared The Trifecta along with a Guinness 250. Fantastic! Since then, have had the steak and Guinness Stew, which was amazing! The veggies were firm, not mushy & the meat was tender and moist. The last time, we went with some friends and chose to sit in the restaurant section, instead of the bar. Wanting a quiet atmosphere for our conversation. The service started out OK. But, when the waiter was more interested in making time with one of the waitresses, the service declined rapidly. So, next time it will be back to the bar for the usual great service. Food has always been great and the drink selection superb.Thumbs up

This was my first & lost visit. We got there around 7:30 and hadn't received our entrees by 8:30. My baby was getting antsy and tired by this point so I pulled out my last resort toy, a rattle shaped like a phone. He was fine after that albeit a bit loud. My friend had just commented that it was getting a bit too loud when the waiter came over and grabbed the rattle. I started to say "Sorry for the noise..." and he CONTINUED to pry out the rattle from my 6-month-old's hand. Did he give me the rattle? No, he took it to the wait station! I can't comment on the food since we never received it, but service was terrible! We're currently waiting for a phone call from the GM since we complained, but the waiter did not apologize. Not even when I returned to the restaurant to look for another toy that went missing. Never returning!

Well we orderd take out tonight. The food was really good. a little $$ for fish and chips but really deliscious. Wish they would have sent Thousand w/ my ruben I thought that was a staple. The Ruben could have used a lil more seasoning it was bland but moist so I guess that evens it out. Sweet potato fries amazing. So, they are moving on up in my book. French onion soup.....ehh-ok The bar still......granny hang out pit!

Love the food, great variety, reasonable prices. I have had pretty good service in the restaurant, but the bar... another story. I could understand if the bar was busy but I was in there the other night and there were only 2 other tables occupied and it took a long time to have a waitress come to our table, then a long time to get our drinks. We were there during happy hour and my friend wanted to order another glass of wine during happy hour but the waitress took so long to get back to our table that happy hour had passed. It was frustrating to have such poor service, and seems to be the case each time I am there.

McNamara's is very good for Dupont and if it was dependable I would give it four stars but the food has been somewhat unpredictable. It is nice to have a place close-by in Dupont that is more than Farelli's. This is a good place to go with family if you are looking for somewhere close.

This place never disappoints! Everytime I go, the service and the food is excellent! Friends will come down to visit from Seattle and are surprised at how good this place is. Even though McNamara's is an Irish Pub they have the one of the best Oyster Shooters I have had. My friends and I do a minimum of two rounds of oyster shooters and vodka shots! I also love their Bloody Mary Bar during breakfast hours on the weekends! They pour your vodka of choice and you go to the bar and mix in your favorite dressings/condiments/veggies. Halibut and Chips, Shark Bites, and Ribs are fantastic!

We went here for breakfast yesterday since they started on December 3rd. The menu was robust and included many of your favorites items plus some Irish favorites. Overall the food was good and plenty of it ... It was very expensive though. There were few items less than $9 and the kids menu was pricey too.

I've been here three or four times. Drinks are strong, food is so-so but the service is very poor. A few weeks ago my husband and I called ahead to find out when they had Happy Hour. They told me it was from 6-9 and to come on in...I called right at 6pm. My husband and I arrived five minutes later to discover Happy Hour was actually from 3-6pm and then from 9pm to close. So basically the person who answered the phone gave us the completely wrong answer...The bar was practically empty and almost every table was dirty. We waited for about 15 minutes to be served...there were at least three staff hanging out at the bar and we made eye contact with one of them twice...but nobody came to clear our table or take our order. In fact, the guy we made eye contact with was serving the table right next to us, but he would run off without saying anything to us every time. It was pretty obvious the staff didn't want to work and were hoping that we would leave. The only thing that's keeping this place running is the fact that they show UFC. Don't bother going there. Try Farrelli's across the street. At least they acknowledge you.

I took my son to this "Irish Pub". He ordered Guinness and she brought him Heineken. I ordered a soft drink and received nothing but a bill for the soft drink. I ended up drinking three glasses of water at a table set for a group event. There was never any future service of water for the group. The food was passable for Irish but with such poor service at a slow time of day I would prefer pizza.

this restaurant did not have the look or feel of an irish pub at all (a few guiness posters on the wall does not an irish pub make). not only that, but the menu featured items more typical of an american sports bar with just a few irish favorites thrown in for good measure. the highlight of the meal was the onion rings, although even they were very greasy. the rest of the meal was just average, but for what i paid for the meal, i expected better. for my dollar, better pub grub, better atmosphere and better service can be found elsewhere. i won't be returning.

First of all, I've been there twice for the restaurant side so I can't comment on the bar. As far as the restaurant goes, very good. The service was fine, on the first trip we had a witer who was in training and he did just fine, and on the second trip the service continued to impress. The food was very good, but be aware that if traditional Irish fair is what your after, this is more of an American spin on things. The beer menu is good, with several mainstream Irish beers on tap and other less known regional brews like Quilter's Irish Death from Ironhorse over in Ellensberg. The dining area is nice and clean with tasteful decorations and an overall warm atmosphere. I don't have kids but I wouldn't worry about taking them there, the menu seemed broad enough that anyone could find something good, even a picky child. Lastly, I am happy to visit an independently owned place like Macnamara's because it isn't some crappy chain like Applebees where everything tastes like salt. I hope the restaurant does well because I plan to visit it again.
