The Hungry Bear is my go to place for breakfast, and it's just as good as everyone says it is. Good service, great food (Oh yeah) and hot coffee. What can I say? It's an institution, the kind of great diner that you just don't find any more. Dennys can kiss my butt, they have NOTHING on the Hungry Bear.

After walking in, I was second-guessing myself. Was I hungry enough to eat there? The place is run down and the inside is not very well kmept, but I decided to try it anyway. I'm glad I did. Firstly, my priority for rating starts with customer service, quality of product, and then appearance. Simply put, the customer service was outstanding and the food was amazing! Five stars for service, five stars for deliciousness, but I do admit the restaurant could use a little TLC. So, if your first expectation of a business starts with appearance, then this is not the place for you, but I will be back!

The seems to be the only locally owned small town place to get food in Deming. Definitely a small town diner in the way that the customers seem to all know the waitress and the pace of things is a little laid-back: which I really appreciate. You can get breakfast and lunch here: the menu is very typical for a diner. The prices are a little bit higher than what you would pay in a city, but this place has to survive on far fewer customers then a city restaurant does. It's extremely rare that I have not already had breakfast by the time I roll through Deming, but if that ever happens I will definitely go back to the Hungry Bear! PS: The cheapest gas I've seen in Watcom County is just down the street from this place so if you fill up your tank there, you'll make up for the extra $5 you might spend on breakfast at Hungry Bear!
