Stayed here for a weekend with my son and had a TERRIFIC time. Charlotte and Maury were wonderful, helpful, sensitive but not intrusive hosts. Provided us with a radio so that we could listen to our beloved (if struggling Mariner's). The accomodations were first rate and the breakfasts AMAZING! Quick walk to downtown for the Art's festival and to a park where we could play. Had such a great time, we're going to come back next month!

One of the first places to open in the sleepy little town of Coupville. Come here for some decent espresso made with local organic milk or just some brewed coffee and a locally baked danish. Then step outside sit back and watch the mist clear off of penn cove... Absolutely lovely.
I love this place for many reasons. William is truly lovely. He's knowledgable, he works hard and he has great customer service skills. I really enjoy chatting with him on my coffee breaks. The location is fantastic, if you like coffee with a view, this is your kind of place. I love that it's a local shop. I think supporting local businesses as a member of the community or as a tourist is important. It's hard to break the chains. I am definitely a Starbucks junky but if every town had a place like this I would certainly break away. I also love that the coffee is good. Better than good. I've had way too many mediocre cups of expensive coffee for my liking. The shop also sells local goodies, which is a nice and tasty touch. I would highly recommend stopping in.
I spent the whole day driving around the island looking for a quiet place to think. I finally found this little gem. It's small and there are only a few tables but it he ambience is wonderful. There is great nautical artwork and photos on the walls, and they sell all kinds of island made goodies. The owner is a really kind man who cheerfully made me the most delicious drink, vanilla almond milk with a little chai--he calls it the Elizabethan. I stayed to watch the sunset over the water with my hot cup in my hands and listened to the quiet. It was absolutely perfect.

Christopher's is our usual restaurant of choice when my husband and I go out to eat. It's not much of a drive from Oak Harbor, and definitely worth it. Their mushroom fondue is to die for. My husband always get the mustard encrusted steak (I don't know the exact name off the top of my head) and eats every possible bite. I tend to vary my food selections, and it's all been very good. The tomato soup is awesome. The service is always friendly. It's always hit or miss how busy they are. Sometimes we've made a reservation for a Friday night, and there are a ton of open seats. Last night, we just showed up for for a Wednesday night random dinner, and it was packed! The more we come to this restaurant, the more we love it. My mother-in-law recently bought us a gift certificate by calling the manager so that they had it there waiting for us when we arrived. Everyone was so friendly about it, and super accommodating. We love them all.
Rec'd by the owner of the Coupeville Inn. Went to check out the posted menu, and had a group of locals ask us where we were from etc, and further recv the place. So, in we went! Thursday night and the place was hopping. Lots of knowledgeable waitstaff. Water and bread (decent baked) filled throughout the meal. Since mussels were the special we got the large size to split. Nice white wine sauce, not too much garlic. Calamari caesar was different and interesting, but tasty. Not like we haven't had grilled romaine before, but with grilled calamari, it was quite 'umami' ish. Hubby and I split the smoked salmon pasta. Cooked perfectly el dente. Very savory sauce, fresh parsley. (Not as good as the recipe from the NY times, but I'm splitting hairs!). One of our friends really enjoyed the shrimp with gnocchi. Her words were 'now these are gnocchi !' They were pillowy soft and the shrimp sauce was delicious. Wanted to have the homemade chocolate mousse, which looked awesome going past our table, but there was no way. We were too full for dessert, had to take a walk around the town. Thanks for the recc's!!
Lovely surprise. Great menu, warm ambiance and professional, friendly service. Our group of 8 went there for dinner. Ages ranged from 9 to 68. Every meal was beautifully presented and delicious. We had to ask for more bread (and then MORE bread) because the sauces were all so yummy.

My husband and I were among Jan and Ron's first customers and are still fans. I am new to yelp, so just catching up on the reviews. A big suggestion for eating here: if you are an adventurous diner, forgo the menu and ask your server to tell Jan to make you whatever she thinks is best that day. You might even suggest that she fix you a "Babette and John" meal. We never order off the menu, and have had a mediocre meal only once - when Jan was in Thailand and there was a substitute cook. We have even persuaded other locals to try it again with us, if they are willing to forgo the menu, and they have been astonished at the difference. Neither Jan nor Ron are terribly proficient in English, so be patient, trust them to choose a great dinner for your party and enjoy a wonderful Thai experience. One person I sent there with these instructions was a gentleman who studied coking in Thailand and he reported back that it was the best Thai meal he had ever eaten. And one exception to the no menu rule would be the stuffed chicken wings....one of best dishes ever.
Love it.
A Thai friend in Seattle recommended us to go to this restuarant. On the plus side, the restaurant had the best fired-pan Washington mussels I have ever tasted. However, the other dishes were disappointed. The soup was too tasteless while the garlic-fried pork was too salty. The service was good but the price was too high.
