Best Birthday Dinner! While the meal was outstanding it was the special service that sealed the deal. Our waiter was really good and attentive but the owner/chef was absolutely amazing. And not just with our table he visited every table to give his signature greeting. There was a table next to us with a recently married couple and he gave them extra special attention personally waiting on their table! You just don't get service like this anymore. In addition to the wonderful atmosphere the food was very, very good. Homemade bread baked that morning with a beautiful olive oil dressing for dipping. I ordered the stuffed pasta with wild game meat (Mountain Goat with a goat cheese finish) - Amazing! I normally don't like goat cheese but because of our waiter's positive recommendation I'm so happy I ordered this dish anyway. It was delicious. My husband ordered the Lobster Ravioli and he had the same excited response. We also ordered the Limoncelo gelato - YUM! The restaurant looked full of regulars and we will definitely be back soon!

I like Bistro Baffi because they have some unique items on the menu - always fresh - ability to do some changes and subs. The owner is a true character which makes the place even better. Great for carryout and solid service to go in. Very lovely interior and all around good place for dinner. Lovely wine list too.

Excellent food with wonderful fresh choices. Can't go wrong, really. We didn't order any wine, so can't speak to that. I had salmon pasta and colleague had halibut. One of the best meals I've had in some time.

Whenever we have a special occasion, this is our go to place. The food is exceptional! The service is phenomenal. You can always count on a quiet secluded meal. I don't enjoy pasta from anywhere else but here. Treat yourself and go here, you won't be disappointed!

When I clicked five stars, Yelp instruted me, "Woohoo! As good as it gets!" That was indeed our experience when I took my wife there for the first time for her birthday. We arrived just at opening. As we walked up, the door was opened for us and we had a big welcome. Wait staff were exceptionally nice and friendly and never rushed us when explaining things and taking our order. To be as good as it gets, the food has to be over the top, and it was indeed over the top. I am surprised that this restaurant does not rank at the very top of restaurants in Burien on the internet ratings for Yelp and others. Probably because most of the other restaurants are cheaper and hence draw a wider group of people. This is not a cheap restaurant, nor is it expensive considering the quality of the menu. I found the locatoin in an ugly strip mall amusing. That is not unusual for Burien, but there are indeed some awesome treasures to be found in Burien if you are broad minded.

Had an absolutely wonderful dinner last night at the Bistro Baffi. The food was fantastic and the service wonderful. The chef even brought out our daughter's birthday Tiramasu and sang Happy Birthday with us for her! The Lemon Gelato was unbelievable too! We have a new favorite dining location!!

A hidden gem in the up-and-coming Burien area!!! This is the place to sneak your date off to. Ok, maybe wait until the second or third date to throw Burien into the mix. But seriously, this is a cute little hidden place with delicious food, fantastic ambiance, and great service. You are welcomed into a warm but tiny bistro. The service begins with a bottle of wine already on the table. Then we were shown two platters of our options for the evening. I wanted to tell the server that I wanted to order both platters, everything looked so good! We ordered two appetizers: mussels and mushrooms. Both were out of this world delicious. They came out of the oven pipping hot. All of the main courses were fabulous. My husband had a pasta with mushrooms, our other dining partner had the lobster lasagna. I had one of the specials....some kind of buffalo meat wrapped in pasta. We all shared bites of everyone's - it was a foodie heaven! For dessert my husband and I split the tiramisu. It was the best tiramisu I have had in my life. So good, I went back a few nights later and bought a whole one to bring to an election-night watch party. Our foodie partner had a lemon gellato that I snatched a bite of and it was exquisite. Did I mention the chef's accent and handle bar mustache? That alone makes it worth a trip!

This place is fantastic. My husband and I went here for our 1 year anniversary. The service was impeccable. The atmosphere was so very pleasant. And the food was to die for. I ordered the filet and a ceasar salad. My husband ordered the salmon risotto. Everything was perfect. The steak was the best I've ever had. Their wine list is incredible. I can't say enough wonderful things about this great restaurant. We will definitely be back. Oh and the Tiramisu is not to be missed!

Nice surprise in Burien! Will return. We went in early and could actually have a conversation before the crowd arrived! We will try it again.

Worth making the drive back into the neighborhood of Seahurst for Chef Michael's world-class Lasagna. Great personal service and it's clear they really care about their food and the dining experience.

Yes, I went back again......and again Chef Michael and Kat overachieved. We had another excellent meal and like many times before, I bought a newbie, who was bewildered by the service, quality and ambiance. This place continues to be the best of Seattle!

Cute little place for a date! The food was spectacular and the portion was pretty big. Tirimisu was one of the best I've tasted. Service was excellent. This restaurant is somewhat small so you should definitely make reservations.

Very good pescatore: fish and seafood cooked to perfection. Spaghetti al dente. Too brothy. Would've been a great cioppino with a side of grilled Tuscan bread instead of pasta. The tiramisú was truly excellent. Would be perfect with a splash of Marsala. The port twine was a bit cheap-o. This dining experience is worth the steep price. Also, the martini they made me was well above average!!!!!

I was at Bistro Baffi last night for my birthday, and I wanted to let them and the world of yelp know, just how nice of an evening I had. I walked in with my partner, and we were immediately, cheerfully greeted by the chef from the kitchen- which I thought was neat, and made me feel really welcomed. Moments later a waiter came over and asked if we had reservations (always smart to do when eating at a nicer restaurant, even if you are going on a Tuesday, ya never know!), which we did, and he whisked us off to our table- a nice quite corner that was intimately lit but still had great visuals onto the restaurant. The atmosphere was really nice- a warm and inviting color scheme, with attractive décor and well lit. Our waitress Natalie was buzzing around, and made sure we were kept up with on a really regular basis, all evening I wanted for nothing. We were told that there were a ton of specials that evening, which was no lie! She came to our table with presentation platters of the wide variety of home made pastas that were available that evening, as well as the frutti del mar- a platter full of fresh seafood. Both platters were simply gorgeous, they were laid out so carefully and with great attention to presentation and detail, and her descriptions of the special dishes was a monologue of really appetizing proportions! It was awesome to have this presentation, because it showed me the magic of what the chef can create, and really made me want to try one of everything. (Even though I'm a vegetarian, and thus the really pretty Maine lobster ravioli were off limits...lol) I ended up ordering a paperdelle dish with fresh hedgehog mushrooms, home made pasta, truffle oil and truffle shavings and a nice creamy but not overwhelming alfredo sauce. My partner chose the lasagna, and neither of us were disappointed in the slightest. Our meal was served with fresh, soft focaccia, and our appetizer, the Plato Rustica was so fresh and flavorful.... it was amazing. And to top it off, I got a complementary tiramisu for my birthday, complete with birthday song! :D I've known about Bistro Baffi for a while, but this was my first visit. It shall not be my last, it's a delightful little gem tucked into an unsuspecting corner of Burien- and I'd not change a single thing about it! I simply cannot wait to have the opportunity to visit again.

I visited Seattle from LA and went to Bistro Baffi as it was recommended to me. Even though its in a small strip mall, the restaurant is very well designed- cute, intimate and adorable. Having eaten in Italy and at some of the best Italian restaurants in NYC including Babbo, my expectations are high for Italian and this certainly lived up to the hype. The service is friendly, very European, that you feel the restaurant is your home. They have an amazing list of specials which they present to you instead of telling you, which I found helpful. I had the Insalate Al'Gusto which was absolutely amazing. One of the best salads I have ever had and the perfect combination of ingredients. For main course I had the spaghetti pescatore which was filled with all this seafood including half a lobster! Never have I had so much seafood in a pasta dish. The seafood was fresh and the portions for both were HUGE. You def get your money's worth. Both dishes were well done and the quality of food is very high. I would def recommend this restaurant to locals or anyone visiting Seattle as a great Italian restaurant.

This place is amazing. Though a little pricey, its well worth it. The food, the service, theres nothing that compares to this. You leave this place a better person than when you first walked in.

We go to Bistro Baffi every three or so months knowing that we will be guaranteed an amazing meal with friends. What amazes me is that every time we show up the staff know our names and treat us like royalty. The food is outstanding. The service is close to perfection as one can get. At the end of the dinner they always are free flowing with the digestifs. We always order off the special plate. Chef Michael hand shops for the seafood and vegetables to create really unique and fantastic dishes. It is amazing that this little find is tucked away in Burien. Last night was an exceptional night and I felt strongly that other people needed to know what the team behind Bistro Baffi are willing to do for their patrons. We were close to the last folks in the restaurant when they received a call from one of their regulars. The call was indicating that the regular with their party was well over an hour late for their reservation. Despite the time Chef Michael and his staff stayed late to greet the party. They continued to work late in the night to make sure that every one of their patrons was treated to the impeccable combination of service and fantastic food. Thank you for treating us so well!

Updated with the owners response:Ps. Xerox copy never was mentioned. I attended Bistro Baffi last night with Ce'Nedra on what I thought was a groupon that had been given to me as a gift. The groupon wasgiven to me by a family friend but that is besides the point because I am a customer and the service we recieved was very poor. Like Ce'Nedra said I had called over an hour prior and was told the next available reservation they had was at 8pm. I came in with my friend and explained I had a 8pm reservation and a waitress was like ok have a seat. That is when we ended up sitting off to the side for over fifteen minutes with no acknowledgement as if we were invisible. It was not until my friend stopped the waitress who was hurrying by us why we had not been seated. It was as if we we had been forgotten by the original waitress when we first walked in. A better solution may have been to seat us at one of the empty tables explaining there were two waitresses and that they were a little busy so it would be a little longer. A glass of water and a smile would have went a long way instead of being simply ignored. While we were enjoying our meal our water was definitely never refilled. But still I would say the road started off rocky but I had worked through the first fifteen minutes. How I was treated when the groupon was presented was another story. Once I presented the groupon. Our waitress came back and asked me if it was a copy. I said no it was not I had recieved it as a gift and had come in to use it. Then her and the waitress mumbled something about who they assumed gave me the groupon and walked off. As a customer I felt like something else deeper was going on and felt uncomfortable as if it were being taken out on me and my friend. Neither waitress says anything to us for over 20 mins until my friend asks whats going on and that we were looking for some resolution. Then our waitress tells us we are going to have to wait & see because she is not going to pay $50 for our meal. How unprofessional. I am a customer who came into a restaurant on a Tuesday night. They made me feel like I did something wrong. Plus I think telling a customer you are not going to pay $50 out of your check is extremely rude and as someone who has worked in customer service poor judgment. Finally almost 30 mins later, the woman who originally ignored us came up and told us I would have to pay for my meal and did not explain what was going on until we asked. As a customer at this restraunt before who had an awesome experience, I think I was treated extremely poorly and the two servers were unprofessional. All we did was ask a few questions which we had every right to do and every time were answered with a kind of combative response. It was not until I paid with my credit card that I was talked to with a level with respect, which is very sad. Michael V.'s comment on your review: Dear Marshaun, Your were given a used Groupon, that we could not honor. It was a xerox copy sadly. This is not your fault by any means, but it had definitely created an uncomfortable situation for both you and us. We are sorry that this happened to you. Just wondering why you left a 20% gratuity to your server if you felt that you received such a poor service. Marshaun B. 10 minutes ago Michael you are completely unprofessional by asking me that question. I guess I was just trying to be classy. It was obvious that this restaurant caters and provides service to only people they fill are big spenders. Presumedly white professionals and since I am African American I thought I would I guess go out of my way to show you I was still going to be grown up about the situation. Your staff has repeatedly for a fact told other people that me and my friend caused a scene. Once again this comment proves your unprofessionalism and your lack of maturity in taking responsibility for the poor service that was given to me and my friend. And another thing lets be real Michael. Me and my friend sat their quietly and patiently why your waitresses came to a resolution and to hear that you said we caused scene makes me regret the tip I did leave. At the end of the day you still have a business, but once again you are not taking responsibility for the poor service I recieved and that is really sad on your part. You have continued to be how your staff was last night which is combative. All I asked for was understanding which is one of the top qualities that is needed in customer service. You being an owner and a professional should have never let it get to this situation. I should not have to feel like I need to even write this much.

I went here last night (1/25/2011) which happened to be a Tuesday. We were greeted by Kat, as soon as we came in, and asked if we had been helped. Which was odd, since she was standing behind the bar and watched us open the door and walk in. I replied no, and said we had reservations for 8pm. Sidenote: I thought it was odd we needed reservations on a Tuesday night for a spot in Burien. No offense, I'm just saying... Kat informed us to sit while they got a table ready for us. Sounded good to me. I grabbed one menu to view while waiting. Apparently I was very into the menu, as 15 minutes went by without a word from the server. On one of her many trips past us (without a glance or word), I spoke up and asked if the table is ready, as we have been sitting here for 15 minutes. She told us that it would be an additional 10-15 minutes because the are so busy. Sidenote: I saw 4 empty tables not in use. And if you have been here, you would know the table doesn't need preparation, except for water in the glasses. But I digress. I informed her that we have been waiting for 15 minutes already, and that we had a reservation for 8pm. All of a sudden she got some pep in her step and miraculously found an available table. :l So we were seated. Might I add, with the original menu I happened to grab. Nope, no additional menu for my friend, and no wine menu. WTF? And the server had the NERVE to ask us if we wanted anything additional to drink besides water. Yea, I did wanted a glass of wine or a cocktail, however, a menu would have been nice. Sidenote: My water glass stayed EMPTY for over 20 minutes. Not half full, but empty. Until I let some of the ice melt, and reach for the glass, shaking it to initiate sound, did I get more water The food was Italian. Nothing to write home about. The service was HORRIBLE! TERRIBLE!

So I forgot to write about this place a few weeks ago; therefore my details are a tad dull. Went here on a date, we were looking for a good Italian place in the area and this had a bunch of great reviews. Drove past it about 3 times until realizing it was tucked into a dark corner. For a Tuesday night, business seemed regular, though I feel the tables were cramped. We were seated promptly. Though we're both under 21, wine was sitting on our table for about 10 minutes. Honestly the menu overwhelmed this only English speaker. Lucky for my knowledge in latin roots or I would have been in absolute confusion. Nothing really jumped out at me as absolutely wonderful. I'm glad the waitress came by with the night's specials though the constant use of various fungi freaked me out. Not a fan of foreign shrooms. I had the lobster ravioli (no fungi) my date had the simple fettuccine alfredo. They gave us some cold unfriendly foccacia bread with some balsamic vinegar and olive oil. 2 plates, so that was good. When eating our food we both decided that we expected world's better for how much we paid. Though our server was friendly and prompt, it didn't distract from my disappointment. I was glad we got 20% off for date night though. My conclusion: I would not come here again, but it's nice.

Tuck away next to a Handy Mart outside of downtown Burien. Super cute Bistro inside & out. The food was good, the outstanding menu items were the scallops, seafood pasta, the clam appetizer & the gelato! The eggplant pasta was my least favorite dish. Good service & the chef came to our table & also thank us at the end of our meal. I would come back.

Tried this lovely restaurant for the first time last night and I was so impressed. The service was excellent. I loved how our server came by with trays to show us the different appetizers and seafood selections. The staff was very attentive throughout the whole meal. The food - amazing! I couldn't decide between several dishes and was happy to know that the chef could prepare the piccata dish with chicken for me - and light on the capers. It was wonderful. The sauce was so flavorful, I was tempted to ask for a spoon so I could eat every last drop of it. Th e stuffed mushroom appetizer was also delicious - full of flavor. For dessert, I tried the lemon Italian ice cream. So good... I am recommending this restaurant to everyone I know and I am already looking forward to my next visit. It's always such a joy to find a gem like this in my area (I live in West Seattle).

My husband and I truly wanted to love this restaurant. We recently moved to Normandy Park from West Seattle where wonderful restaurants abound. We lowered our expectations of restaurants in the Burien/NPK area but not enough; we were baffled by the 4.5+ star Yelp reviews and found the food at Bistro Baffi to be quite pedestrian and the service staff to be disengaged. However, we enjoyed the atmosphere and can imagine the patio being delightful in the summer.

As a Burien native, I never thought we'd see a restaurant of this caliber in our locale. But, alas, Bistro Baffi turned out to be the first dramatic sign of some welcomed gentrification. Maybe I'm a bit biased because the chef has a similarly unique last name, or because he has a mustache like my great uncle Fritz. No... my love for Bistro Baffi is in the details. As Bistro Baffi fever swept across the neighborhood, the pink sauce quickly achieved rockstar status. And, yeah, it's quite good. But that's not why I love this restaurant. Too obvious. Not my style. I love Bistro Baffi because they served me the most delicious anchovies I've ever had. They came out luxuriously draped across a caesar salad I ordered as a starter, and my appreciation for anchovies is forever changed. They were like butter... salty, slightly fishy butter. I was lucky enough to live well within walking distance and took full advantage of my proximity during this period of time, visiting several times. Never a bad moment. The food was always delectable; the service, warm and attentive. And, if you go during late spring and summer, the picturesque planters and hanging baskets bursting with colorful flowers create a spectacular little Burien oasis. Thank you, Chef Vujovich and Co. for landing in Burien of all places. I hope we're doing right by you and business is good.

Expensive...but well worth it! Everything is fresh, authentic Italian (actually Montenegro) seafood, steaks, pastas! Really intimate and fantastic! You will love the wine list and when the bring out the tray of evening appetizers and entree specials before you order. Get the stuffed mushrooms! Everything is really good! We go here to celebrate guests and auspicious occasions!

Baffi Bistro was so enjoyable. Our first time that although we forgot the place, we made an effort driving around in burien to find this place. The experience was very enjoyable. The food is fresh, beautiful, enticing, and very delicious. We're going back tonight for dinner again.

I am from the Bay Area and am definitely a"foodie"! I found this little gem of a restaurant on YELP and if you are in the area I recommend going. I ordered the lasagna and the owner/chef threw in a slice of tiramisu ...it was all magnificent. Thank you for a lovely experience :-) hugs, Cali

For an Italian joint in a strip mall in Burien this place is an anomaly. It's like a flower growing in the crack of the sidewalk or some other cliche. The food is delicious, first off. A group of us went in and each had a different entree, every one was delicious. I had Pollo Ala Saltinbocca, which was chicken and prosciutto lovingly wrapped in melted mozzarella cheese. The chef came out and asked us how we enjoyed our meal, discussed the food, and even gave us a free desert. This was incredibly attentive and genuine customer service. Honestly, it's worth it just to see the chef's moustache. It's an amazing moustache.

A hidden gem in Bistro Baffi. Reviews has been great for this restaurant and I wanted to see what the buzz was all about. Pulling up to the restaurant I wondered if my GPS was wrong as I thought I came to a mini mart, but right next door to the minimart was Bistro Baffi. It was definitely a quaint place walking in and we were warmly greeted and seated. Our server came out with a large silver platter with all this food on it to showcase some of the specials they had for evening. From the looks of it, it all looked fresh, handmade, and delicious. I really like that idea of putting some visuals on the food that we would be ordering. We ended up ordering Caprese and an Arugula and Prosciutto Flatbread as starters. The tomatoes in the Caprese was nice and fresh and the mozzarella was silky smooth. The arugula and prosciutto flatbread was huge as it was a size of a large pizza. The texture and chewiness of the pizza dough was amazing and I could have just ordered that as my main course but we resisted and boxed up more than half of it to have room for main course. My girlfriend ordered the Polla Alla Marsala and I had the Rigatoni Paesana. Her chicken was cooked just right on a hot plate covered with mushrooms and Marsala sauce. It was also served with a side of penne pasta with a red sauce. My rigatoni was in the spicy pink sauce that was very well balanced and the pasta cooked perfectly. The sausage was very well seasoned as it was not too salty and had right amount of spice. After the meal we were stuffed and considered dessert but just couldn't muster up space for it. But there is always next time, and I'm sure there will be one as this place is definitely the place to go for great Italian food and superb service.

So once again, I'm reviewing a restaurant instead of getting a life. But at least it's a good restaurant! This is a wonderful, slightly hidden, bistro. It has proven to be a great place both to take friends and family and to have a more intimate dinner. The food is delicious and I have more than once caught myself day dreaming about the alfredo sauce (seriously, missing out would be a grave mistake). My only real complaint is that the list of specials and courses can be on the long side, particularly when I'm there to play footsies (a ten minute list of foods is not especially palatable to the romantic appetite).

I have not dined at a lot of gourmet Italian restaurants and this is the first time I've eaten here so I'm torn between a 4 and 5. I'm also not a big wine connoisseur. So take this review for what it's worth: The vibe? Upscale but with a warm, friendly, family-like atmosphere. Even the restroom is nicely designed. You can tell the chef/owner puts his heart into everything -- fresh, high-quality ingredients, the preparation, and the presentation. Definitely not a corporate chain. This is a labor of love. The food? Bread and olive oil were good, Agnello Griglia (lamb and risotto) was fantastic (and a generous portion), wine was excellent and paired perfectly with the dinner, and the tiramisu was mmmmmm delicious. The service? My waiter was enthusiastic, attentive, and helpful while not being over the top. This was on a busy Saturday night too. Value? Right around $50 for a gourmet dining experience. Definitely not a budget dinner but for what it was, it was worth the money. I would guess if the same dinner was served at a prime Seattle location, the bill would be closer to $75. Cons: Latte was ok but nothing special. I'm used to a good micro-foam and richer coffee, the kind an experienced barista makes. Bass was turned up a tad too high on the bass speaker. What's up with the lighted Christmas tree outside the restaurant? It's January 22nd :-p You know what they say about the restaurant business -- location, location, location. Bistro Baffi is somewhat off the beaten path for most Seattlites living in central or north Seattle. Definitely worth the trip if you live close by. They had a relatively full restaurant Saturday night so maybe their reputation can overcome the lack of a prime location. I hope this restaurant does well. They really deserve to succeed.

The pink sauce that they use on their pasta is incredible. Their wine list is also impressive and they have some good wine specials. My favorite dish is the lobster ravioli. It gets pretty busy on Sat and Sun nights so I recommend calling first to get reservation.

I really can't say enough great things about this place. My husband and I randomly found this little jewel about 10 months ago. Every date night we ask each other where we should go for dinner. Both of our answers are BIstro Baffi. The food, service, wine and prices are fabulous. I organize a dinner every year for my volunteer board. I decided to see if Chef Michael could accommodate my group of 28 people and not only did he accommodate us. His food and staff completely knocked it out of the park! It's by far the best group dinner we have had in 8 years. I can't pick out one single dish I love the most because they are all outstanding!!! The scallops, venison cannelloni and seafood risotto are my top favs. I have read a couple of the past reviews that didn't give 5 stars. I really think thy should be embarrassed. Some comments are so minute "nit picky" it's almost a joke. GO TRY this place I promise you will love it

Bistro Baffi offers you the whole package! You get good service, excellent food, nice ambiance, cute decor and fresh produce! The chef shops at Pike Place market every morning to pick out the freshest ingredients for the current days meals. They offer regular entrees on their menu, but also special seasonal items that I highly recommend you order at least one dish from! Our waitress was incredibly knowledgeable in the menu and spent a good 10 minutes going over in detail most of their popular items. We tried the stuffed clams from the seasonal menu, the Plato Rustico salad (w/ eggplant, mozzarella, roasted peppers, tomatoes and a drizzle of olive oil), fusilli con salmone (pasta w/ fresh salmon), rigatoni paesana (w/ italian sausage), and last but not least risotto w/ chicken, mushrooms and a pink cream sauce. All were delicious, but my favorite was the risotto! The risotto is a piece of heaven in every little bite. Highly, HIGHLY recommended. It's creamy, rich, a tad bit of spice, and the rice has a nice bite to it. Generous portions and very affordable-- $15-20 per dish! Overall, we had an amazing dining experience. I came here w/ my family but it would also be a nice date place for the weekend. No complaints here, just happy to have found Bistro Baffi!

What a pleasant surprise! A hidden gem in the Burien area. The term diamond in the rough comes to mind. When I first looked for this place, I was looking for a good casual Italian place to eat and catch up with an old friend. Expecting since it is the Burien area, the setting is probably not fancy or anything. What a surprise upon opening the door to this place! There was a fireplace, fancy chairs, and romantic lighting, with good wine offered. Perfect ambiance for a romantic date or warm family night out. It has both charm and class. Sitting there, I felt like I was in a fancy Italian restaurant in the middle of downtown Seattle, not a place that has a worn-down and faded color Coke sign in the parking lot. The service was excellent! The food, amazing beyond words! When we ordered our food, to show us the special of the day, the waitress brought out a beautiful plate presenting all the ingredients that are used in our dishes. We ordered a variety of pasta plate and were very pleased. Variety of mushroom and handmade flat pasta was delicious as well as penne and sausage. The flavor was delightful in each dish. The only negative comment is that the meal got cold quickly. They didn't warm the plate well enough so before we were halfway done, the meal has already gotten cold. Still, the food was pretty darn amazing. I love how they always send coupons and keep me updated on events and special offer. If you're in the Burien area, you need to find this gem!

Stuffed Shrooms, Caeser, Chik Parm, and Penne ala Rustica. Simply put.. Best Italian in the Puget Sound area. Everything they put in front of you is fresh and delicious. The service is ALWAYS on point and the atmosphere is quaint but fun. The real test of a place is what your friends say after youve sent them there....Ive sent many a pal their way and EVERY time they rave. This place is the place to be.

WOW! I just had their crab special last night and it was out of this world. A whole Dungeness crab, boiled and dressed with a light sauce of lemon, garlic, and white wine and covered with fresh herbs. The shell was cleaned out and filled with a fresh pappardelle with a light alfredo sauce and chanterelle mushrooms. Just to die for.

Bistro Baffi is good, but not great, Italian food. Of course, I just came back from Bologna, Italy where I had an Italian meal that was so good, it was literally a spiritual experience. So I'm a little jaded now, but I digress. We went to this restaurant for a birthday party the other night and dined with a group in the little side-room with the ceiling fan. We had the Caprese Salad, Bruschetta Baffi, and Stuffed Mushroom Appetizer Special to start. All were very good, though the Bruschetta Baffi was basically their Caprese Salad on toasted Focaccia bread. Having read some of the reviews here before going, I ordered the Venison Cannelloni Special, while my girlfriend ordered the Risotto con Scampi with the much talked about pink sauce. These two entrées were a bit of a disappointment. The Venison Cannelloni came swimming in a bowl of melted cheese and what appeared to be their pink sauce. Contrary to what you might expect from such a colorful, gooey mess, it didn't pack much flavor. In fact, had I been blindfolded and told to open my eyes when the plate arrived, my first impression would've been that we were at a Mexican restaurant and an enchilada had been ordered for me. A similar tale can be told about my girlfriend's Risoto con Scampi. It had beautiful presentation, but was just disappointingly un-extraordinary. As for dessert, since they didn't have many options available, our group ordered one of everything (except the chocolate gelato). Here they mostly shined, with a lemon gelato that was out of this world, and cleverly presented to look like a hard-boiled egg cut into quarters. The chocolate walnut cake was also extraordinary, and probably the best cake I've ever had at an Italian restaurant. Don't bother ordering their tiramisu though, it's very pedestrian. Their service was outstanding, and the chef even came out himself during dessert with a slice of tiramisu and a lighted candle, while leading the singing of Happy Birthday for our birthday girl, who he then gave a big kiss on the cheek to. Overall, I'd say this restaurant is a bit above a 3-star but not far enough to round up to a 4-star, especially when you factor in their slightly over-priced menu. I would go back though, and next time just make a meal of their appetizer plates, and of course a slice of that amazing chocolate walnut cake.

Been here 3 times. Each time has been an enjoyable meal. A very quaint location that would be on the top of my list for romantic date places to go. Service is top notch. I love how they come out with the fresh items on the special menu and explain how it will be prepared. I can't comment on the pastas, since I have always had seafood entrees. Each time, I thouroughly enjoyed my meal.

I have mixed feelings about my own three star review. We've been here twice, the first time I thought surely this was it - my new favorite restaurant. Then we went back for seconds... We had a reservation, and were seated in a horrible location (as if we had just wandered in off the street with chocolate smeared on our shirt fronts). Right next to an obnoxious table that was yelling (I understand - Italian restaurant = spirited folks!) but egads! I couldn't hear myself think! It would have been nice if we were seated with all the other quiet couples away from the noise. Started with stuffed clams that were good, but did not sit well later that night. I had a pasta dish, nest something (I have no idea, I couldn't hear the names of the specials) that was kinda burnt. Everything just paled so much in comparison to our first visit which was hands down fantastic. Not really a fan so much any more.

I initially gave Bistro Baffi a one star due to our poor experience the last time we went. However, soon after writing the review, I received a note from the restaurant apologizing for my experience and that they will be refunding us our money for dinner. Wow, I did not expect a response from them at all, and it was a pleasant surprise to hear how pro-active they were about the whole thing. I decided to change the rating to 2 stars for their customer service effort. I really do appreciate them trying to take the time to read my review and make it up to us. To be fair, we should have complained and voiced our concerns at the restaurant. However, by the time the check came, we were so beyond frustrated that we just wanted to leave.

Had to try this place *finally* and so glad we did. This little place is tucked away in a funny little shopping center in Seahurst and they only serve dinner M-Sat. We made reservations very easily online the day of our visit, I really recommend a reservation because this place is tiny and there is no waiting area and this place fills up. The decor was nice but not fussy and the wait staff was really lovely which is one thing this place really has going for it, staff that are passionate about the food and the experience but that said, they weren't intrusive or snooty. They bring a display to your table to tell you the specials (there is no specials menu) so be sure to ask questions (like price) about the dish while she's there. We ended up ordering off the regular menu but the specials looked so amazing, I may have to order one of them next time. We ordered a caprese for an appetizer and it was amazing, for an entree, I had the salmon risotto and my husband had the chicken Marsala and we ordered a bottle of 2005 Chianti. Everything was amazing, high quality ingredients, unfussy and delicious. Next time we'll have to save room for dessert, they looked amazing. We loitered for an hour and a half and never felt rushed and had a wonderful meal. By the time we left there was a poor couple waiting at the door for a table (like I said, make reservations) and we felt like we had a lovely evening. Now for a weeknight dinner with the family we will still go to Angelo's but for a special night out without the kids without a long drive or parking hassles, we will be back to Bistro Baffi.

Any business that reaches out to their customers to do better is good in my book! I was e-mailed shortly after my original post regarding our service. It was a kind and thoughtful gesture. We will be returning again soon and my next update will reflect the experience then!

Oh my goodness this place is AMAZING. Okay, so what do you typically want in a good restaurant? Great service? check! Amazing food? check? Reasonable prices? check Great ambience? check (okay once you get past the strip mall setting and get inside). What about your chef coming out and explaining the specials, and then checking back with you to see whether or not you enjoyed the meal? Or giving you some additional appetizers on the house just b/c? okay how about non-stop homemade bread, warm from the oven? NON STOP! How about fresh DELICIOUS tiramisu for your husband's birthday when you barely recall telling them it's his birthday on the phone? I have to say Bistro Baffi is a gem in Burien. It was one of the best food experiences I have had in Seattle!!!!!

What they lack in location and ambiance (they are located in a psuedo-strip mall and off the main drag in Burien), they make up for with service, and of course food! We make a point to stop by every time we're in town visiting my parents. It's a great place for a "special" meal - without having to spend too much or get dressed up - or for a casual meal out. The pasta are cooked to perfection and never overly saucy. The risottos are sensational - due entirely to their pink sauce (I'm dying to know their secret recipe and no they won't share - I've asked). I always go for the risotto special and a bottle of the house Toscana, which is very drinkable (read tasty) and reasonably priced. Also, the staff is super friendly and helpful. They seem to really care about your dining experience/satisfaction without being too nosey or pushy. The chef/owner always makes a point to converse with every table, whether it be to tell you about the specials or personally delivering your meal. I would highly recommend this place to anyone in the south end looking for a good authentic Italian meal whether it be a special occasion or a random weeknight out.

I wish I could give BB six stars! I can honestly say that we have NEVER been disappointed. If you are looking for an amazing dining experience give BB a try. You will not be disappointed. Oh and be sure and try the specials. To keep this short and sweet, the food was FANTASTIC! We started with the Clams Rockefeller, delivered by Chef Michael himself, slathered in the most flavorful alfredo sauce. I followed that up with a prociutto wrapped filet mignon in a red wine reduction sauce with a side of penne pasta in a pink champagne sauce. My wife had the wild rabbit cannellonni (from the specials menu) that was also slathered in the richest, cheesiest alfredo sauce. Now we would not order a "wild rabbit" dish, but we have so much faith in Chef Michael that we had no doubt it would be fantastic. It was! The full bar mixed up a delightful lemon drop w/ Limoncello and the beer selection was great as well. Desert consisted of a lemon gelatto with a frozen limoncello center. Words can not do it justice. Oh and we took home a slice of the flourless chocolate walnut cake w/ the strawberry amaretto puree. Thank you Bistro Baffi! We love you and your food!

We're so lucky to have such a great place in Burien. Tucked away in a little unassuming 1/2 size strip mall is this amazing restaurant. I was able to order a vegetarian, dairy-free salad pizza (this is not on the menu and is not regularly available) early on in the evening and that endeared me to Bistro Baffi. The staff, chef/owner, and even customers were great. The food was delicious and I really appreciate how accommodating the chef was. We can't wait to go back.

I would definitely call this place a hidden gem. It's in the "cute" part of Burien that frankly, I had no idea even existed. I am struggling with the number of stars to give this restaurant. I want to say four because we had a small party and they seated us in a private room which was wonderful and the service was stellar. Our waitress memorized the abundant "specials menu" and was incredibly engaged in making our evening delightful. Even the Chef came out to participate. As for the food, the appetizers , salads and dessert were VERY good. The table was silent except for "nom nom nom" and "mmmmm" but that's where I have to slow down with my praise. The reason I choose to stick with a three is because the entrees did nothing for me. If the appies and salads had been just so-so we would have reset the bar for the entrees but as it was I, for one, was expecting nirvana on a plate because of what we'd just experienced. And with that, it made the entrees all the more boring to me. I should also add that I didn't not say anything to our server. I was with a party of people and I didn't want a scene although I feel pretty confident that she would have exchanged it for something else if I had asked. I will go back even if only to explore the Appetizer and Salad menus and possibly, just possibly to try an entree again.

Lots of Italian options in Burien, but this is for sure the best. Great food, and great atmosphere- small, quiet, quaint. The chef likes to come out and check on his guests and remembers you every time you come back.

The food I can't get enough of! I highly recommend Bistro Baffi to everyone who wants to enjoy an absolutely out of this world meal for a very much down to earth price. I've been treating myself with Chef Michael's food for years now, and it was perfectly cooked and amazingly tasty every single time. The authentically made Tiramisu is a must! The service is fantastic, fast, and efficient. It always feels like every guest is getting special attention. Last but not least, an evening spent in the ultimate mediterranean ambiance that Bistro Baffi provides is so relaxing and uplifting that it loads my batteries every time. It feels like I spent an evening in northern Italy, but is way more affordable than that. Cheers!

OMG, NUMMY NUMMY NUMMY, but OUCH, the prices. I'm not just saying this cause I like a good deal, and I live across the street. This place is great. Its hidden, keep it alive for me, where am I to force my first dates to take me, so I can walk home drunk if need be? I had a salad, he had the ribeye, and we shared, GOOD idea for you if your an average eater, Get your own entre if your a big eater. The chef comes out and talks to you, and well (HI SARAH) every time I go the male waiters are .....HOT! I didn't bother getting a dessert or a drink, but I've heard from tons of friends and family, good, but always the same, pricey. It still has the coffee house chairs in it, but they are comfy, and the food seem authentic italian for sure! I have been here for a family party, my friends xmas party, dinner for two, dinner for 3.5 hey they shared the meal!

This is what I'm talking about. A little place, with amazing food and service. This is one of those amazing places that are tucked into non-descript strip malls on side streets. You would never guess that this caliber of a restaurant is hiding in a quiet neighborhood in Burien. The owner is in the kitchen, he is suggesting wine, serving guests, and even singing happy birthday. The doorway to the kitchen is open to the restaurant, and the seating area is not very big (there is a small room for larger groups, and patio seating for nice days, too), so you can smell everything. Mmmmm. We had a couple of appetizers, 3 main dishes, and 2 desserts and it was all excellent. I am only sad that I didn't know about it before now.

Some of the best Italian food in the Seattle area and I am lucky enough to live down the street. Unfortunately it is a bit pricy so I can't go there as frequently as I like. The chef is so sweet as he says hello from the kitchen as you walk in. The serving staff was very attentive and friendly. they walk around with the specials on a tray so you can look at what they are describing to. Just an amazing dining experience.

This is a great restaurant......in Burien? Yes in B-Town! We went there not knowing what they were about, we had bought a Groupon for this place and you know what it was a pretty good place. I really enjoyed the 'pink sauce' which I believe they are know for. I would have given them 5 stars but when we first were seated we waited for about 10 minutes before we received our menus. After that though everything was fantastic. My recommendation is to try what I had....Pasta alla Mike and the Clam Rockefeller. Both were exceptionally good. When I eat pasta I enjoy seafood varieties.

I hate to bring down the rating of this place, but our experience was good, not great, and far from excellent. I think the main problem was our Serbian server, who seemed pretty green, a little antsy, and definitely didn't know his way around the menu yet, besides still mastering the english language. Being a server myself, I always ask for recommendations, but I could tell he was new and still figuring things out himself, so I just made my own decisions. We started with the prosciutto and melon, along with the plato rustico, a mixture of "grilled" veggies and caprese on some EVOO. Three slices of cantaloupe covered with silky thin prosciutto looked standard enough. But the prosciutto was unusually smoky, and overpowered the usual sweet and salty goodness that is associated with it. It was an "eh" start. The veggies were more roasted than grilled (where are the grill marks?), and the caprese was standard. I thought the melon app. would be $7-8, but turned out to be $12. Kinda rip offish. It was ok, tho. The owner suggested a different bottle Pinot Grigio than I ordered, which is fine, and turned out to be quite nice. Salads were standard, insalata mista and ceaser. And they serve cold squares of a very dense and chewy focaccia with a nice dipping mixture. A-ok! Main courses had mixed reactions. Janet loved her "Penne Alla Mike", with big prawns in the shell and portabella mushrooms, in a savory pink sauce. Chris and I had the special risotto, with scallops, mixed wild mushrooms and asparagus in the spicy pink sauce, which got a "its good", but not mmmmm's and aaahhhh's. Needed salt for sure and was better as leftovers. Mom and dad shared a mixed veggie pasta and the Pollo Saltinbocca, a pounded, then grilled chicken breast, COVERED (i.e. slathered) with mozzarella and a little prosciutto, in a white wine sauce. They were not impressed with either, and we agreed that they were very heavy handed with the sauce. Almost every dish had the "pink sauce", which left us wondering where the owner is from. We also got to try the Veal Saltinbocca, as our server thought mom ordered that (I thought we made it clear), instead of the chicken. It got pushed to the side. I thought the roasted peppers were the most delicious part of the meat dishes. No dessert.....too full. And the restaurant was empty by the time our Serbian server got around to asking. He was a slow one, for sure. Maybe I'm just spoiled. I dunno. It was a three star experience, even with the round of Sambuca on the house. Sorry guys. I really was looking forward to a lovely dining experience. I think having experienced servers would be a very intelligent move for such a place. My suggestion to you, as a long time restauranteur. Good luck guys.

Based on Yelp and the recommendation of family my husband and I made our first trip to Bistro Baffi last night. We will definitely be back. We were greeted warmly when we entered and seated immediately. The waitress explained all the specials. There were so many it was a little confusing. A written copy to remind us of what she had shown us would have been nice. However we muddled through starting with the Bruschetta made with the imported mozzarella. Very yummy. I had the special venison canelloni. There were only 3, but they were very rich and one of them came home with me for lunch. My husband enjoyed the chicken saltinbocca and brought home leftovers of that as well. The server was attentive without being invasive allowing us to eat and enjoy our meal. While enjoying our desserts of the flourless walnut cake and chocolate gelato we decided to return for our anniversary dinner in April.

January 20, 2009 - Likes it - Who would have thought in a hidden little corner of stores in the residential neighborhood of Burien you could find authentic cuisine of Montenegro. It's far from the over sauced plate of noodles found at most places that claim to be authentic. The fresh ingredients show through each plate. I can honestly say I may have had the best cut of pork I have ever tasted. I started off with the deep earthy flavors of the stuffed mushrooms with a pink sauce that was kissed with just enough spice to leave you wanting more. I finished up with a flaming shot of Sambuca and tiramisu and the only was to adequately describe this desert (that I have had a million other times so I know this one) would only be adequately summed up in a sound... Mmmmm. The charismatic chef Michael visits your table, has a welcoming and warm staff all the while in a quaint romantic setting. The list of wines alone is worth the visit.

I never thought I'd find such a great Italian restaurant in Burien. This place has great food and very friendly service. It's location is unexpected so you'd probably never just stumble upon it unless you knew the address. Thanks to Yelp for helping me find this place. We loved everything we ordered and we also loved the complimentary appetizer that the chef whipped up and brought to our table. We will be back for more soon.

The Chef Michael recognized us and our travels from SF back to his restaurant and he brought us out free Ouzo for everyone including the surrounding tables! As always the homemade bread is delicious and the food far exceeds any other restaurant in the area! All smiles here!

The most delightful flavors of any Italian or near Italian restaurant anywhere in the city. Every single item on the menu is fabulous, and the specials are to die for. We love to introduce friends and out of town guests to this restaurant because we can count on everyone enjoying it.

We went to Bistro Baffi last night with a large group (18) and had a wonderful time. The food was superb, the appetizers very tasty and the wine and atmosphere were lovely. I have to give them kuddos to allow such a large group to take over the restaurant but they did it very well and the service and staff were great. I only have one complaint and everybody in my party was upset over this. The chef/owner insisted that we all order off his set menu, not the regular menu (since we were a large group). When I called to make the reservations I specifically asked the person taking the reservations if they would do something like that (because we had the problem at his old restaurant The Beach House on Alki many years ago) and was assured we would be able to order off the regular menu. Everybody in my group was very disappointed because we didn't want to order the 'specials'. (that ranged in price from $18-$35) We wanted to order off the menu. The 8 offerings we had were excellent choices, just not what most of us would have ordered. So, if you're going in a small group you will have a wonderful dinner and excellent time. If you're going in a large group make sure you can have access to the entire menu because you may be disappointed. Even though I checked I obviously should have doubled checked and triple checked.

Ok so those of you that posted 5 stars are delusional. The meal was quite good. I ordered the salmon risotto and my wife ordered the veal cannelloni. The stuffing for the cannelloni tasted very bland and it left something to be desired. The risotto was just a mere "ok". The pink sauce was quite spicy which was great but the heat masked the lack of flavor otherwise. The chef apparently feels that he spices his dishes to the expectation of his customers. (meaning there was no sign of a salt shaker anywhere) dont get me wrong it didn't need too much but a shake or 2 would have improved the flavors and made it "pop". I do not agree that a 5 star would be accurate or fair. I also think that 15$ For a not so margherita pizza (for our son meaning a cheese pizza with marinara and it showed up with diced tomatoes instead of marinara) is a terrible injustice. The server was nice. The greeting was nice. The chef delivered the meals and the dessert. The tiramisu is just ok. The drunk couple cursing at each other in front of my 3 year old was a bit unnerving. Not to the fault of the restaurant. I should have saved 50$ and had olive garden. At least I wouldn't be disappointed. :*(

Excellent, wonderful Italian food! My husband had the venison cannelloni, and I - The pasta Bolognese. The pasta was cooked to perfection and they had no problem substituting the pasta of my choice with what was on the menu. We also had the stuffed mushrooms, but beware - the pink sauce is extremely rich but extremely excellently prepared and oh so wonderful! The house wine - Chianti - was $40 a bottle, and I do believe that was the least expensive wine in this restaurant. And yes, the tiramisu was "out of this world".

I am not much of an avid yelper so don't take my word for it, instead go find out yourself why I gave them those five shiiny stars! It is a little pricey but if you would like to impress friends or a date with a good meal and a nice low lit restaurant setting for a night out, Bistro Baffi certainly is thee place to go! I'd recommend their stuffed mushrooms for appetizers and the Risoto Con Salmone for your main.

The food was amazing, as well as the service. The stuffed mushrooms were delicious as was the brochette. I had the filet mignon wrapped in prosciutto which was one of the best steaks I have ever had, ordered it medium rare and it was cooked to perfection...and it was only $30. The 3 others I was with had nothing but positive things to say about their meals. So glad I finally went to Bistro Baffi, one of if not the best restaurant in Burien.

This is always the first place I crave whenever I return home to Seattle. Had once again another amazing meal prepared by the chef- The Bolognese is so delicious, but you can't go wrong with whatever you order here as its prepared by a chef who cares about his customers. This place is a MUST if you haven't tried!! Thanks again for another wonderful meal, starting my vacation home perfectly!

What a great experience. From our server Wayne to Chef Michael visiting the table not once by twice to even celebrate with some Grappa. After having dined for many many years at 2 Italian Restaurants in the Downtown Seattle scene this meal was exquisite. From the ambiance...understated and simple to the food which was top notch. We had the muscles in a tomato garlic sauce which is a must and the wild boar cannelloni reminded me of many a serving of this same dish I have enjoyed many times in both Umbria and Tuscany. We celebrated a birthday with some close friends and thoroughly enjoyed the evening. The chef and wait staff were very attentive throughout the whole evening. Will certainly visit again and worth the drive for those who live on the Eastside of Seattle.

This is a 5 Star establishment. Dining here makes me want to go back through all my reviews and lower them to take into account the new standard set by Bistro Baffi. I didn't know a place this good could be found in Burien. Do yourself a favor and order the stuffed Mushrooms. You'll thank me later. The service here is amazing, the food is amazing. Best restaurant in the south end hands down.

The perfect combination of great food AND great service. We were greeted by an extremely charming (and efficient) hostess. When I confessed I didn't know Italian wines, the chef magically appeared to help us make a selection which was phenomenal. While he was there, he helped us order. Not surprisingly, the food was delicious. I was treated to spaghetti and meatballs even though they were not on the menu. My dining companion had a seafood dish that was equally good. Even though we were too full, we sampled the award wining tiramisu. Best I have ever tasted. bravo bistro baffi

Had a lovely dinner here! Great ambiance, quiet area, amazing food and quality service. The food was great for our whole party - yummy stuffed peppers, caprese salad, salmon risotto, mountain goat cannelloni and bolognese - all amazing! Topped off by three amazing desserts. We don't live in Seattle anymore, but it's a shame because we would be here all the time. The service was not intrusive but very friendly and attentive and our server knew her stuff. If you're in the area looking for a relaxing spot with great food and quality service with affordable prices for what you're getting - this is the place!

What a fabulous meal last night. First time for me, but not the rest of the family. Had a private room for the eight of us. Mike had some amazing specials fresh from the market - had the scallops and a buffalo mozzarella caprese salad. The best ever! The service was as professional as it gets. Everything flowed perfectly. Plus, the cocktails were generous and reasonable. Overall a wonderful experience. Can't want to come back! Cheers to their whole team (family.)

On August 26, 2015, we went to Bistro Baffi in Burien to celebrate a significant wedding anniversary. This was our first time at this establishment. Thank goodness for GPS. We were promptly seated and our server explained some of the daily specials as well as some special wines. Baffi has a unique wine list with some very rare and expensive bottles. We ordered a wine that would complement our entrees. Baffi bakes their own bread and I think they add some tomato or other vegetable bits in the bread. The bread by itself was delicious, but dipped in the olive oil, balsamic vinegar and fresh chopped basil; the bread was simply delicious. For an appetizer, we ordered the Cozze Possittano (mussels and sauce) and the Insalata Cesare (Cesar salad). We expected perhaps 4 or 5 mussels, but the bowl was filled with at least 12 or more huge blue mussels. The accompanying sauce was made with garlic, fresh herbs, fresh tomatoes and Chianti wine, with a little spice. The bread and the mussels and sauce could make a filling lunch. The salad was excellent with just the right amount of dressing and shaved bits of Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese. Our entrees were the Scallops Martell and Spaghetti Pescatore. The huge scallops came with baby asparagus, sun-dried tomatoes, and fresh herbs in a cognac sauce. The Pescatore had loads of mussels, clams, shrimp, salmon and a langostino (small South American lobster) over spaghetti in a fresh tomato and herb sauce. Both selections were excellent. I keep using the term "fresh", but all of the food is made with fresh ingredients. Nothing from a can or bag found its way into our meals. Wish all restaurants used fresh ingredients. Unfortunately, not the case. Chef Michael and his staff have a winner in our minds. The only negative we can state is how they spoiled us with the best Italian food we ever had in our many travels. Kudos, Chef!

So good! Went there for brother's birthday last night and was not disappointed. I ordered the Spaghetti Pescatore (sp?) and it was delicious! The atmosphere was inviting and appetizers and drinks: amazing. I'll definitely be going back for more. The chef brought out complimentary flourless chocolate walnut cake and sang happy birthday and checked in once during the meal. So delicious! One thing to note is it was a little chilly inside although they had a wonderful gas fire in the back. I didn't think of asking them to turn it up so won't deduct points. I was so very pleased with my meal and the service! This is one of those places hidden in a quaint part of the back side of Burien. Cool area and so charming.

Fantastic food and really close to SeaTac, a very short and worthwhile hop. The place was cozy, but wasn't crowded. I had white salad which was perfectly made and crisp, chicken risotto which was a little muddled and needed something else but not sure what, and of course the fantastic bread and oil. Great wine selection too!

Love Bistro Baffi! Close enough to walk to (lucky us). The mushroom pasta is amazing as is the seafood pasta! Great wine list. We had one bad experience with wait staff and the chef apologized profusely. He also made it right. Since then we've had great service and great meals.

A hidden gem. This is such an amazing restaurant tucked away in an otherwise ho-hum shopping center. The staff feels like a family working together to make your evening warm, delicious and comfortable. I really appreciated the attention to my dietary needs, and for helping make my dinner just as delicious as someone who can go Italian food crazy. It's a special occasion spot or a great Friday night dinner spot too.

Outstanding service and food! The lobster risotto is fabulous! Had birthday dinner there and the chef brought me a tiramisu with a candle and sang happy birthday to me. Have never had a bad experience there and the food is outstanding at decent prices! Definitely recommend! Small quaint restaurant with great staff, service and food!

I love the Bistro Baffi, I've been there twice and both times the food, service and atmosphere were excellent. I had a smashing tuna fusilli pasta dish and my dining companion had a seafood special that was cooked perfectly and tasted amazing. We also had the stuffed clams, a couple of salads and deserts, all fantastic. Being a bartender, the only thing I would change would be the specialty cocktail list. The quality of the food and atmosphere deserve it. It would be nice to see a more complex craft cocktail menu developed around their specific flavor palate. Next time I go, I'll definitely be stretching my visit with a cocktail.

What a phenomenal find. I was in town on business and a colleague and I were craving Italian, so we went on yelp and found this hidden treasure tucked away in a residential area strip mall. The ambiance was fantastic and the food even better. I'm surprised this chef doesn't have a restaurant in Bellagio as the food is definitely 5 star quality. The Lobster Risotto was some of the best my colleague had ever had who is 100% Italian. The Artisan bread was so moist you have to be careful not to fill up on that. I had the Rigatoni Bolognese, which quite honestly was one of the best meat sauces I've ever had. The stuffed prosciutto mushrooms were heaven and the Tiramisu was the perfect end to an amazing meal. I will come back even if I'm staying in downtown the food is that good. And the topper Was the chef came out talked to us and gave us a shot of Grappa on the house and he did the shot with us.

Such a great night at this cozy restaurant with my girl on a surprise date night! I'm not a true foodie, but I appreciate great fresh food. You won't find me at Olive Garden or even worse, Red Lobster. If you like that kind of food, this restaurant will either not register a response at all or it will ruin chain restaurants for you forever. It's a perfect and comfortable venue for a date or intimate gathering. Service was attentive and on point but not excessively friendly, no compliments or complaints on service and staff. The adorable chef/owner brought us the most flavorful and delicious plate of bruschetta with fresh buffalo mozzarella. I will be ordering this again in the near future, it's so good. We ordered the lobster ravioli which was very rich, but overall very happy with this choice. I will probably try a different yummy pasta dish on my next visit. One of the specials was a fresh scallop dish with asparagus and sun dried tomatoes and this was honestly the most memorable and amazing scallop dish I've ever had. It was light and flavorful and I could eat it every day. It was a good size portion with 4 large scallops and it came with a very good penne pasta in the chefs signature pink sauce. I hope they have this special again when we return, I have been thinking about it all night. Took a piece of award winning tiramisu home that ended up being very good. On The way out the chef/owner waved at us and wished us well and leaving us with a smile on our faces, discussing our imminent return. He, people, is the real deal. Go to Burien and see what 4.5 stars on yelp is all about...we have it 5 stars, wish we could give it 6!

Best Italian food in SW Seattle area is Bistro Baffi in Burien hidden away on 152nd and 21st Avenue Southwest. Around $100 for two with meal ,wine, dessert, tax, and tip included. Service food and aroma are awesome! Romantic dinner perfect. Best fillet minion. The owner / chef and his wife are wonderful. He's an amazing chef. If the place was in a better location they would have more business than they could handle. Very quaint and cozy. Just go and enjoy! Make a reservation on weekends. David H

We had a birthday dinner celebration with a party of 8. The service, food, and wine was exquisite! Really pleased. Our table resoundingly went for the Lamb and Risotto which was a favorite. The Spaghetti Pescatore was a delight to the eye, the presentation of the fresh seafood shined. Along with a rousing tune sung with the chef himself delivering a tiramisu, Chef Mike shared with us some humor, history, and a healthy shot of grappa at gratis. Super kind, super friendly and personable. :) Bistro Baffi is a great find tucked away behind a gas station next to a pretty rugged looking convenience / beer mart. Come find this little hideaway and you won't be disappointed!

This is a gem of a restaurant and we've had an excellent experience every time we've been. The service is outstanding; the servers are knowledgable about the menu and they're helpful in making wine selections. The atmosphere is cozy and intimate. I recommend the stuffed mushrooms, the lobster ravioli, the lemon gelato and the tiramisu. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Wait. I am literally obsessed with Bistro Baffi. To begin with, the staff is exceptional. I am talking the chef brings your meal to your table exceptional. And his accent and mustache? Like come on. Over the top good. To start, they bring you homemade focaccia bread with a balsamic and olive oil sauce. This bread drives me insane. If I could buy this bread to take home I would. And I would have bread thighs to match. But that's not the point. The point is: the food is top notch. Some of my favorites are chicken parmesan and the homemade pastas. I love to try the specials. They present a plate full of gorgeous ingredients like handmade pastas still covered in flour and foreign, fancy mushrooms to show what goes into the special dishes for that night. The desserts are great. As a non-coffee lover, I am still a HUGE fan of the tiramsu dressed in chocolate flakes and adorned with a strawberry. The gelato (lemon or chocolate) is also a nice way to have a light, tasty dessert. Overall, Bistro Baffi is a great place to come for special occasions or just a beautiful dinner. So drive on down into the depths of Burien for this hidden Italian restaurant to wake up your taste buds deliciousness style.

Perhaps the worst restaurant experience ever. It was like a bad sitcom -- and I don't even like TV, so you can imagine how really bad that is! Took the RLH to Baffi for her B-day. We ordered a salad and the clam app to share. salad was just fine but the clams were pretty salty. I thought, hey, maybe it was like, an outlier, man. I tried the second clam. A salt-lick. I pushed the remaining stuff away. Same with RLH. The waitress came, asked us how we liked it. Not gonna lie, I said, a wee bit salty. RLH ordered a filet. I ordered the venison cannelloni. The steak was excellent. RLH ate the whole thing. I kinda helped. My venison was sad. Covered in cheese, the venison was like baby food and man o man was it salty. I couldn't eat it. Waitress returned and asked if I'd like it to go. Nope. No thanks. She took the dish into the kitchen and we could hear the chef yelling in there. He came out with the dish and delivered a lecture on why this dish was "magnificent". I said, well, that's your opinion, it's not mine. That set off some kinda crazy switch. He started yelling. Get out of my restaurant and don't come back! You have no bill, just get out. I was like, wait... what? Is this really happening? I didn't even ask the waitress to take anything off the bill. I just thought the geedee venison was salty! Then it dawned on me: I just got thrown out of a mediocre restaurant by a lunatic and man, is it funny! The RLH and I started laughing. I fished a $20 outta my wallet for the waitress and we got on out of there. Guess we won't be back!

Outstanding experience! We took the family out to celebrate the end of the first semester of high school and were hoping for 'special occasion' food and instead a whole special occasion evening was fulfilled thanks to the lovely environment, great service and truly fun banter with the owner who popped in a few times to see how things were going in the "back room" (at one point joking that we were way, way too quiet for a celebration.) From the exquisite mushroom appetizers (a personal best) through the lobster ravioli and Fillet Mignon and through to a tiramusu which did not disappoint, this was a memorable meal and great night out. We moved to Burien in July and I am having a lot of fun discovering what a cool place I moved to by patronizing local businesses, and, so far, Bistro Baffi has been one of the highlights.

What a treasure! This place is the BEST Italian restaurant I've found since I moved to the Seattle area. My husband and I were walking through the Japanese gardens in Renton and starting to get hungry. We sat on a rock and Googled Italian Food and found this place. We were worried that we might be underdressed but Yelp said the place was casual so we took it at its word, booked an online reservation and plugged the address into the GPS. When we arrived at the place we were surprised by the location. It is not in a place you'd really expect to find good food. But, found quickly that you should NEVER judge a book by its cover. Inside, and the little outside dining courtyard, were sweet and romantic and absolutely elegant. We were quickly seated and we ordered a bottle of the house Chianti - which I was also a little concerned about, since house wine isn't usually that great. Our server brought out a bottle of Grifone Reserva 2010 Chianti. We were really impressed! The wine was very nice and the price was very reasonable. Next the server brought out two platters piled high with all kinds of ingredients - mushrooms, raviolis, lobster, fish - I can't even remember everything. She described the "specials" in such a way that made my mouth water at the presentation. It was unique and very nice. We decided to start with the Plato Rustico from the menu (a kind of eggplant, caprese appetizer), followed by green salads. And, from the specials I chose the Wild Boar Cannellini and my husband chose a Seafood Risotto. When the appetizer came it was very good and went nicely with the wine. I would have wished the eggplant to be a little more substantial, but I realize that not everyone likes it as well as I do. It was delicious all together and the balance between the cheese, tomato, basil, olive oil and eggplant was excellent. Next came the green salads with a soda bread and vinegar and oil dipping sauce. Simple, but not overdressed. Very refreshing. When the appetizers came I was dying to try mine because I'd never tried wild boar. The smell was heavenly! And, the taste was even better. There were two cannellinis in a sauce, covered in melted cheese. Excellent. I had a couple bites of my husband's risotto, which was also very nice. The seafood wasn't overcooked at all and the rice was a nice al dente. We each ate about half our entree and got boxes for the rest. I wish we had stopped there (groan) but we didn't and decided to move on to dessert and coffee. We ordered the Lemon Gelato to share. If I could send you tastes through Yelp I would. It was heavenly, creamy, light with a lovely Lemoncello flavor. At this point I was ready to roll out the door and go home, but the chef decided that Gelato wasn't really dessert and brought us out a Tiramisu! And, how could we pass that up? We couldn't! We ate all that too!!! We were stuffed - to put it mildly! We both guessed at how much the bill would be and were very pleasantly surprised at how reasonable everything was, considering how much we'd eaten. We will definitely be back! And, if I ever say, "Let's just go to Olive Garden" again, please slap me!!!

Our second visit was so disappointing. First thing... they were once again OUT of iced tea. 2 visits, both times out. I don't always like to drink alcohol and I am not big on soda. So yeah, I drink tea. Not here apparently. The woman who runs the show is VERY pompous. Her nose is so high in the air that I am surprised she doesn't walk on her tip toes. She was also there on our last visit.. but we had less contact with her because she wasn't our server. This time.. she was. We were seated at an awkward table by the front door. I had a perfect view into the kitchen. Where I noticed them dumping used oil/vinager mixtures (the little ramekins they bring with the bread) into a container. Are they re-using that!??!?! I cannot imagine. That is beyond disgusting. I also noticed (with my perfect view of the busing station) one of the employees wipe out a ramekin with a dirty napkin, fill it with and bring it back out to a customer. We had little caesar salads that were mediocre and cost $7 a piece. My hubby once again absolutely loved his lasagna. But my papperdalle pasta had no flavor this time. I had to add salt and pepper to a $22 dish. After my first visit.. I recommended this place to my friends. Not anymore. God I hope they aren't re-using the oil/vinagar.

Fantastic authentic food in an unassuming nook. My guy and I went here based on other reviews on a special date night. The atmosphere was romantic and the owner was like a character from a movie- bopping around chatting with customers, charming and proud. We loved our waitress who seemed like a retired Russian ballet dancer- beautiful and knowing of all things menu related. We shared a fabulous appetizer that filled me so much I could barely eat half my dinner! I can't wait to come here again.

What a wonderful new restaurant - it was an unexpected surprise. It is in a strip mall in Burien. We went in on a Monday night at 5pm and I was very surprised how full the restaurant became at dinner time. The food was excellent. The waitress brings out a tray of all the specials and goes through them and also explains anything on the menu. We each ordered a different item off the menu and shared tastes. I got the shrimp risotto and the caprese salad. The mozzarella cheese in the salad was so fresh and tasty. One of the people at the table ordered a pork chop that was topped with Gorgonzola cheese and pear. It on of the best things i have ever tasted. The chef brought out our dessert at the end of the meal. It was an excellent dining experience. I look forward to returning.

Talk about fresh food with wonderful flavor, this is truly one of the best places in South Seattle. I almost always get their Risotto special since they know how to cook it just right, creamy yet still a bit firm. I also love their stuffed mushroom appetizer. My husband gets stuck on their chicken and pea pasta dish so much so I want to try to make something like it, but it may never compare. their Tiramisu is also tasty as can be! They also have a ton of fresh seafood and specials daily. The only down side is it's quite expensive. So bring your wallet, be ready to park in a strip mall lot then go into a cute and tasty meal.

We had a fantastic experience! We chose Bistro Baffi based on proximity to airport and Yelp reviews. I'm so glad we did! Plus, the evening was nice enough that we dined al fresco. The food was fabulous. It really is the details that made it so flavorful. The dipping sauce that accompanies the bread was laced with fresh basil and one of the entrees had sprigs of fresh oregano. When I mentioned it, the waitress told us that Chef has his own herb garden to use in the dishes. Our entrees were lobster risotto and the grilled halibut with our appetizer being the stuffed mushrooms. They were all filled with flavor, delicious fresh ingredients and incredibly well-prepared. Oh, and the tiramisu we shared for dessert was incredible. Again, it was handmade and wonderfully delicious.

Had an amazing birthday dinner at Bistro Baffi last night! We walked in and were greeted warmly with a smile and wave from the chef/owner who was in the kitchen. Very nice atmosphere and interior decorating. The waitress was very friendly as well as knowledgeable and brought out an amazing looking plate of the fresh ingredients of the night's specials which were not on the menu as well as the uncooked pasta and various mushrooms that the chef would be using. We ordered the stuffed mushrooms as an appetizer, the pear/pecan/blue cheese/cranberry salad, the lobster risotto and mushroom fettuccine alfredo. All were exceptional--especially the pink sauce that was used with the mushroom app and in the lobster risotto. My favorite was the mushroom fettuccine with truffle oil though--I'm usually a meat eater but didn't miss it with how hearty the various types of mushrooms were. The homemade focaccia bread with garlic, basil, olive oil and balsamic was delicious as well. We boxed up a little bit of leftovers so we could enjoy dessert and before I knew it here comes our waitress and the chef bringing me a tiramisu with a candle and singing happy birthday--even using my name! The chef then told us it was on the house and thanked us for coming in. We ordered the flourless chocolate cake to go and shared the tiramisu there...both were incredible. As we're finishing dessert we notice the chef say goodnight to the staff and get into his black Mercedes E class parked out front like a BOSS and roll out. You can tell he loves what he does and I can say it was an honor to have him cook for us. This is my new favorite place to eat for special occasions for sure.

The food was fantastic. It reminded me of sitting in a little restaurant on the streets of Italy! I had recently just come back from Italy after being there for 3 weeks and after returning home wanted to visit an Italian restaurant with my hubby that would take us back to the flavors of Italy. And this place did it. The food is high quality and the flavors will blow your mind. I got the salmon rosotto which is to die for and my husband got a seafood pasta dish which had a rich flavorful broth that was to die for. Definitely worth trying!

It seems the theme of my eating out in Seattle this week was going to establishments in neighborhoods that I never knew existed. Bistro Baffi is located in a tiny strip mall almost a mile west of old town Burien. I had a little time before I met up with Penny, so I toured the residential neighborhoods near the restaurant. I was surprised to see all the mansions with stunning views of Puget Sound and the Olympics. Reservations are definitely recommended. Due to the acoustics, it is loud and a bit hard to hold a conversation against all the other conversations going on. However, the physical ambience was nice. Rather dimly lit, but having warm-colored lighting and oil painting-covered walls, a sense of fine dining is conveyed. Service was excellent. I appreciated our server asking sincerely how we liked each of dishes, and being effusive in thanks for us coming in for dinner. Also, our server had the most amazing memory. She brought out three plates laden with examples of their dishes, and proceeded to rattle off descriptions of a gazillion dishes with nary a stutter. But darn, the wild boar "wraps" we had our eyes on were sold out for the evening. My main recommendation would be to order a dish that has the house pink sauce (a red sauce with cream added). It is wonderful! But pricy drinks here. $12 for a martini in Burien? Good God! However, the martini glasses were fun, because they had these black swirls that gave the optical illusion that the martini in the glass was tilted to one side. Penny and I ordered salads for starters. I opted for the octopus salad. The tomatoes in our salads were amazingly juicy, ripe and flavorful. But the octopus portion of my salad was a bust. There wasn't that much octopus and it seemed not to contain any seasonings, other than strips of bell pepper and red onion. We loved the dense complimentary bread served with a delicious olive oil containing balsamic vinegar and chopped basil. For entrees, I ordered the veal picatta and Penny had the salmon risotto. Penny thought the risotto was excellent (prepared with the pink sauce). My veal picatta was fair. For $28, and considering the meager quantity of veal served, it was too expensive. The veal was served on a plate with capers and roasted sliced lemon, resting in a puddle of juice that lacked flavor. However, I did like the thin slicing of the veal. For dessert, we both ordered the flourless chocolate walnut cake. Penny had a latte and me a glass of ruby port to go with our desserts. The latte was excellent. Now, the cake is really not a cake, but more like a big slice of walnut candy roll served over a delightful layer of a whipped strawberry cream. For sweetness and for darkness of chocolate, this dish was outstanding. However it is very very rich. Perhaps to avoid a hot and heavy date with a bottle of Tums later, the dessert should be shared. Overall, this was a very good dining experience, and we would come back.

The food was excellent. I would be glad to return. My only complaints are minor ones: 1. The waitress was a bit pushy about specials and hors d'oeuvres. It appeared that the management wanted the waitstaff to be sales-oriented. Not a good practice. 2. We ordered a moderately expensive wine from the wine list, but we were brought a much less-expensive variant from the same winery. I don't know if this was a mistake or an attempt to overcharge for the wine. The waitress opened the bottle before I had a chance to notice the difference. She did not show me the label until after it had been opened. Not a good practice. Nice to find a nice restaurant in an out-of-the-way location. Not easy to find, but worth it.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
