Good rustic Italian food, with a great atmosphere and fun location for a post-movie dinner. The classic cocktails were spot on. Our server, Amy, was friendly, attentive, and funny. The moment the Godfather theme started playing as our cocktails arrived was pretty hilarious. We had the rigatoni and spaghetti.

Good quality Italian food for an affordable price. Service is on point. The place is nice, I have zero complaints! If your kids are young and loud I'd say save this place for a date night, it has a calm romantic ambiance and is a smaller space.

After my less than stellar review of Luna, I gave it some thought to make sure that I was being fair. We dine out almost every day and are quite happy with most dining venues. I tried to figure out what it was about Luna that bothered us. The service is definitely excellent -- cannot think of anywhere in Bellingham that can surpass the excellent service provided by Luna servers and bartenders. For several weeks we returned to Luna despite the food. Now, after giving it serious thought......... we shall not be returning. It is a shame since the restaurant is less than a mile from our home. The bottom line for us is that the owner does not seem to care about comments from their guests. The best items on their HH have been removed despite the fact that customers liked it. I hope that Luna gets business from the theater because this is not something that I feel locals will embrace. Almost forgot, the parking is horrendous when the movie theaters are full. They have 20 minute parking next to the restaurant which isn't long enough. However, it really doesn't matter because it is not enforced and is used by theater goers. P.S. Just a shout out to C.J. -- one of the best bartenders in Bellingham!

Wow, this place is good. Well we have been waiting for a good restaurant near the lake where we live and this is it! The food is good, the portion are almost too big...brown baggi-in-it for sure! We have been here a couple of times. The wait staff is so nice and the bartenders are very pleasant....we even got great service while waiting for a take out pizza! I loved the pizza and the homemade pasta! I understand its a pretty new place so they are working out the kinks...but we havent seen them yet! I really do recommend the place! I even like their house wine it's called Jovino - and i consider my self pretty wine snobby! We get the two way caprese salad which is also good! The best was before it got cold we brought our dog which we tied up outside with us while we ate - which was really nice! we don't have kids so we can't tell you if they are good for that but we have seen some while we ate! The food is good, the service is great the price is fantastic! Look for us we might become regulars! It's definetly one of the better places in Bellingham (and that is a much needed thing!)

Meh. Food was average to below average. Wife's soup was luke warm and salad was on the wilty side. My calamari was ok. Nothing to write home about. The restaurant setup was ok and the wait staff was pleasant. If they stick around, it'll end up being a decent place to grab an adult beverage before or after a movie. Other than that, I probably won't be back.

On my recent trip to Bellingham I visited, Lunas Bistro. The atmosphere was warm and inviting and the staff very welcoming and helpful. I was impressed by the selection of wine. I ordered the chicken masala and the wait for it was worth it, the food was delicious.. My friend ordered a steak and also enjoyed it. We will definitely be back.

Really wanted to love this place since it is so close to me but I was very unimpressed. The pizza was almost inedible. It was burnt on the bottom and did not taste good. As an Italian place you think they would know how to make pizza. I also tried the tomato basil soup and it was terrible. I only had a cup and couldn't even finish it because it was that bad.

Overall a good experience here - the service was good and most of the food was as well though it was a little different than we expected. For example - I ordered the chicken Marsala which was ok, however it was chicken that was on the bone. I have eaten marsala many places before and have never seen it prepared this way...that was odd. Another person in our party ordered a steak medium rare and it arrived...very rare. The server explained "that's just how they make it" Umm...ok. The steak is one of the priciest things on the menu so obviously the person eating it wanted to be satisfied (as they should be). We sent it back and it was cooked more but...took a while to fix the issue so we were a little concerned. Once the steak returned it was cooked properly. The third person with us really liked their food so no issues there. Anyway...would consider returning but probably wouldn't order either of those 2 things again.

Excellent food and excellent service. I am from new orleans and have struggled to find a restaurant worthy of that caliber of food. Luna's red sauce is A-mazing for any sauce aficionados out there. I have had the ravioli and puttanesca and both were stellar.

Zero stars!!!!!!! Run!!!!!!!!!!!! My wife and I went to Luna's Bistro for dinner before a movie this past Saturday night. We were greeted and seated well, but the wheels soon fell off. We ordered Chicken Marsala and Filet Mignon but were never served water or presented eating utensils. When our salads came to the table my wife got up and went to the server station for silverware. The chicken then came out of the kitchen and our server placed it in front of my wife and asked if we needed any thing else. My response was "Uh! Yes my entree!" When we ordered our entrees, they were supposed to come with garlic mashed potatoes and roasted veggies. When my filet came to our table, well after my wife's chicken, they both had a huge pile of 39 cent spaghetti noodles topped with canned red sauce. No mashed potatoes. We then asked about the potatoes and were told that "we sometimes run out of potatoes". At 7:30 on a Saturday night?!? The vegetables were way over cooked, the filet was over cooked but also cold, and the chicken was dry. I asked for another glass of iced tea and the server came out to our table with a pitcher, poured the remaining tea into my glass which filled it half way up and said "I guess I'll have to go brew more" like it was my fault she had to make more tea. This is the the first negative review I ever given on yelp and I hope to not have to post like this in the future, but I can honestly not find one positive thing to say other than they greeted us at the door.

We are from out of town. We wish this owner could come down to our area and make another one of these. The food was good and portions plus price were excellent. Happy hour is a must. I had 2 $5 Martini's and meatballs, my husband had a $5 pizza. Let me tell you it was tasty and huge. The bread is made fresh, and the bacon cured in house. Please keep this place up and running so we can come back! Friendly owner and staff!

Well let me start off by saying or waitress Amy was absolutely amazing pretty much the only reason I'm giving any stars at all so thank you Amy for being so great! We'll then that brings me to the food...my friend got the steamers and it was very disappointing she had about 20 clams and about four were unopened..for 13 dollars anywhere else in town you get an actual bowl of steamers this was rediculous! Then I got the calimari and it was good but the portion yet again was so small I couldn't imagine sharing it as an appetizer and last but not least my friends pasta came out with no chicken then when we said something it took admit 15 min to come out so by that time she was done abs over it. .overall not impressed I will stick to mambo and Diannas maybe Just come back for happy hour luckily we were all having drinks for our mom night out so we still had fun

My husband and I stopped by to try out the place after hearing mixed reviews. First, we were greeted by the lovely Emily. She was so friendly and informative. She was very enthusiastic about the menu and spoke very highly of the food. She was right! Our food was delicious! We tried the Ravioli Fritti and Antipasto plate. They were both delicious and I highly recommend both dishes. The decor is beautiful and the background music is delightful. We will definitely return to try out the pasta, steaks and burgers.

My wife and I attended the Imax 3D version of San Andreas on Sunday the 7th in Bellingham at the theaters on Barkely. There is a restaurant just outside the theater on the way back to the parking lot, called Luna's Bistro. We have never eaten at Luna's Bistro so thought why not give it a try. We split a pizza, The Supremo. I don't think that I have ever eaten a better tasting pizza in my many years of eating pizza. No matter what toppings one uses, if the dough is not good then the pizza is not good. This pizza dough was fantastic. The best of the best. The pizza crust made the sausage, olives, bell peppers, mushrooms everything tasted great. I had planned on eating two slices and taking one or two slices home. Didn't happen, it was so great we ate the entire thing right there. I could tell by the great flavors that everything used must have been fresh. I usually don't care that much for pizza, its just Okay. But, if you like pizza, then you gotta try the Supremo at Luna's Bistro in Bellingham. (No I do not know the owners at all) But our server, CJ, was the nicest most friendly and helpful person. CJ was great.

We went to dinner here a couple weeks ago and had a wonderful experience at Luna's Bistro! The waitress is very friendly and attentive. My husband and I just got back from Italy and so we definitely came in a little skeptical with high expectations. I had the caprese salad two ways to start, both were tasty. He had the filleto di manzo steak and it was AMAZING! I had the mushroom ravioli in a truffle cream sauce. I was a little disappointed they only used a truffle oil instead of real truffles, but it was high quality, aromatic and still very delicious. The only thing we were disappointed in and would have passed on was the tiramisu, but we don't often order desserts out anyways. But overall, our dinner was delicious and it was a fun atmosphere there, we will definitely be back!!

Maybe they will get better with time ~ We went for lunch, they got my order totally wrong and substituted my husbands without asking. My husband had almost finished his by the time my replacement meal arrived. My pasta had a strange metallic taste, almost tasted reheated. The pasta came without any kind of bread, that seemed a bit odd for an upper priced italian eatery. The music was italian, and quite loud, but that may have been because the place was rather empty. We may try it once more, but then again, there are many really good italian cafes in the area, and most charge less & offer more. Step up Luna, we are counting on ya after our next movie !

Three strikes in one visit! Vegetarian lasagna had four mushroom slices, no other veggies present, waiter said the vegetables were puréed in the sauce, baked pasta was dry and the cheese was unrecognizable, but worst of all, the vegetarian calzone was stuffed with sausage!! Run away!!

My wife and I came here for her birthday dinner. We hit the happy hour which was a bonus 5 dollar special martini for the wife pineapple passion fruit and I had 2 $4 dollar pounders of beer. We split the meat ball appetizer which was great. We then each had the steak excellently cooked to perfection she had her medium and I had rare. Our waitress Amy was funny attentive and overall a joy to be served by. We will definitely be back!

Unbelievably bad food, shame on you for serving such a tasteless asortment of items. The calamari appetizer was tough & looked like fish steaks the coating had no flavor, the aioli dipping sauce accompanying the calamari was thin and watery. The calamari steak dinner was a blob of fried breadcrumbs or panko not sure which, vegies served with entrée were unidentifiable again tasteless. Garlic mashed potatoes guess what, tasteless. The Diablo Pizza was greasy & slid right off the crust. Pasta dish was nothing to write home about. I certainly will not give this "bistro" a second chance. However, our server was very attentive & friendly it wasn't her fault the food preparation was so bad!

We went to Luna's Bistro for a little celebration for my daughter. I had the New York steak and she had the Margherita Pizza...then we finished off with the Apple Crumble. Amazing food! The apple dessert is an experience all on it's own. Great tasting and great presentation. Not over-priced. And the service was fantastic. We had Amy as our server and she made the experience a fantastic one. She doted on my daughter, which made the whole night! We're definitely going back!

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
