I would give this place negative stars if possible. However, my rating is not on the food but the service. This is because I did not get an opportunity to try the food before I was so disgusted I had to leave. I arrive with my family of 5 for breakfast. Was told we would be seated in about 30 minutes. 50 minutes later we were still waiting because they did not have room for a 5 top. Instead they seated a bunch of people that came after us and made no effort to accommodate us. Finally we decided to just get a spot at "the bar". At least we were seated. It took another 10 minutes for anyone to even offer us water or coffee. To make matters worse the one of the staff members actually said to ignore us because they did not like the fact that we were trying to get service. After hearing this we decided to go. At least the person behind the cash register realized they made a mistake and didn't charge us for our coffees that we had half finished. Even Denny's has better service than that. I guess they are too busy to treat customers with respect. I would say never go there if that is there attitude. Worst service I have ever experienced. I don't care how good the food is or could be, I will never spend money at a place that treats customers like that.

Gross is the first word that comes to mind when I think of this restaurant. A die-hard local recommended it so I went with an open mind (being a lover of classic greasy-spoon restaurants). The actual restaurant is very small and not very clean. The coffee tasted like it had chemicals of the cleaning variety in it, and don't look at the actual coffee pot they pour it out of the best word I can use to describe it is crusty. The food itself took about 1 hour to come out , I guess the cook was overworked with the three other tables he had. The hash browns were what I can only assume frozen for months perhaps years before they fry those things up and put them on your plate. The rest of the food is not even worth mentioning. I appreciate local diners that are rough around the edges but the food has to be good, hot, and fairly fast to want to come back. 2 stars are for the decent service

This random restaurant is something you would never see if you didn't look close enough. It's shaped in this funky long triangle and it reminds me of some old bar you would find in the middle of the desert. People don't give this place enough credit and it is quite a gem (no pun intended).

Very good breakfast, we got in at 8 am by 9 they had a line. Had the chili omelet and good flavor and true home made chili no can here. Wanted chicken fried steak but it's our of a box. Come on Jim make it from scratch and make it stand out from the nuke it joints, at 12.95 you still save money. Wow had great Eva Benedict wait staff friendly. That's why the shock of boxed cfs you have everything going for you so why cheap out?

I love this local diner. The staff are friendly and will work hard to please you. They are quick to seat you, take your order and refill drinks. They will make suggestions if you are on the fence about an order. Once your food arrives, they will engage in conversation to make sure your order is to your liking. They ran out of jalapenos on my most recent order, but they were happy to suggest a variety of local hot sauces from Everson or the national brand Tabasco sauces to add heat to my meal. This establishment regularly supports local non profit organiztions like the Whatcom Humane Society or local events like the Eat Local Challenge during the month of September. There are cash collection bins by the register to raise funds for community organiztions. The daily menu displays the special; and during the month of September, this special is part of the Eat Local Challenge. The food is always nicely presented and served hot and fresh. The taste and texture is spot on and consistently flavorful and filling. You can do a full or half order. The half order is a great portion size for one and the full order is great for sharing with a friend or taking home for late night leftovers. There is a small parking lot that borders the restaurant and street parking out front that fills up fast, but you can usually find a place in the neighboring streets. Regardless, parking is free. WiFi is free, but you will need to ask the wait staff for the password. The diner has sort of a soda jerk, 1950s look to it without being kitchy. I love hanging out here.

On the good days where service is fast this place is great! It is further out then most breakfast places in downtown bellingham which means the wait time is significantly shorter on Sunday mornings and it can accommodate larger groups. Only once have I gone here and the food took nearly 40 mins to arrive but every other time my experience for brunch has been great.

I sat here for 75 minutes for a blt and a cup of cottage cheese. The blt tasted like a blt. It was nothing special. An infuriating experience.

Diamond Jim's Grill is a very popular place on weekend mornings. They're only open in the mornings, so if you want to try this locally owned diner, go early, plan to wait in the foyer, and expect a line of people waiting for your table when you're done. Here's what I thought about DJG: + Huge, large portions + Apple-smoked sausage in their sausage gravy--very tasty + huge home-made biscuits + American Fried Potatoes, seasoned perfectly. Worth coming back just for these! + Friendly, busy, professional staff...these people work hard and fast. + Family Business: the employees joked around and at each other as well as the customers. + They support other local businesses. The following menu items were made in or near Bellingham: beers, hot sauce, bacon, sausage, cheese. If you can spare the time to wait for a table, Diamond Jim's Grill is well worth it!

The food was awful. We waited 35 minutes for our food and it was cold. The potatoes had no flavor, the gravy was watery and tasted if it was in a can, the biscuit was dry and floury. Service was mediocre at best. Our waitress forgot things and seemed irritable

  • Meghan M.

Some metallic silver piece on the bacon didn't look like aluminum foil. Gravy tasted like it was from a can. Eggs tasted like Denny's eggs.... I threw the food up 8 hours later. Granted, I have a gastric pacemaker but I've had it for a year and have thrown up like this from a Taco Bell bean burrito. Prices are way too high I ordered the chicken sausage and eggs etc My boyfriend and his friends got AtF thing biscuits were dry gravy was gross.

A small wait but well worth it. I ordered a half breakfast and still took home leftovers. Coffee was good to boot !!!

I've been here say...6 or 7 times since we moved to Bellingham 2 years ago. We usually only go when family is in town. Sometimes you have to wait a bit to get seated at busy times, but it has ALWAYS been worth it. Every single thing I've eaten here has been cooked well and tasted wonderful. I've done omelettes, pancakes, AFPs, etc. My brother has ordered one of their lunch sandwiches and it was good too. HUGE portions and attentive, friendly waitstaff. Coffee is a local company, many of the ingredients are from local companies...all of which I love. It's not the best breakfast place ever ever, but it's pretty dang great breakfast diner. I'd recommend it for sure, especially if you're bringing family or bigger group.

If I had to describe this place in two words: nothing special. The coffee was awful & the food was nothing I couldn't make better at home. My dad and I got chocolate chip pancakes and an omelette & both agreed that we would try somewhere different next time he came to visit. I think this place only gets good reviews from locals who have eaten here forever & college kids recovering from a hangover.

The food is great, and there is lots of it. I go here fairly regularly BUT I avoid the busy times. Between 10:30 and 11:30 or after 1:30 on weekdays seem to be the best times to go. When they're busy it can take a little while to get your food. The staff has always been very nice to me. The food has always been good in my experience. I'm not a huge fan of their coffee though, it's super strong. Which is OK if you like that kind of thing, but it's not my preference. The decaf isn't as strong tasting but is still full bodied so I'll quite often do that. Check the specials board on your way in, some times they have some really great creations on there.

Best breakfast in Bellingham! You always have to order AFP's but also can't go wrong with any of their pancakes, french toast or oatmeal!

  • Sarah H.

First off, I want to say that the food here is truly great and they're known for their large portions. That has always been the case and I'm pleased to see that hasn't changed. However, the consistently and extremely slow service greatly impacts my enjoyment of the place the past few years. Having said that, Diamond Jim's is a Bellingham must if you are any combination of the following: hungover, totally starving, don't want to be hassled by the wait staff and/or are in absolutely no rush. The portions here are very large, food is deliciously greasy (as any biscuits and gravy or patty melt should be) and you can't go wrong with anything on the menu for breakfast or lunch. I used to recommend this place to many a college acquaintance but once I started going in half as hungover as I did in college, I realized how slow everything is and how many of the employees seem to be in a bad mood. Having worked in food service I know how obnoxious it can be to work on a day you're not feeling great, but I've left DJ's irritated too many times not to notice any longer. With that in mind, if you're looking to spend some time with friends on a Sunday reliving the previous night's festivities over some scrumptious eats, this is a great place to go. Just don't expect to leave in any rush and there is often a wait for a table as well. Grab some coffee before you head in (and put your name on the list inside the door) to cure that headache while you wait for a table.

I have only recently discovered this place and have only been here a few times, but I've been very satisfied with their food! One of my favorite places for breakfast. However, the service is so terrible that I'm not sure the food is really worth it. I really do love their food but I've left here more irritated with them than not. I can't speak for all of their staff, but the servers I have gotten are SO very slow even when it's not busy.

Went to Bellingham last weekend overnight, and we left early in the morning partly to beat the long weekend line-ups and partly 'cause I wanted to have brunch out as part of our micro-holiday. Any excuse to have brunch will do! Met up with a friend here, so we could get some food in us before we started our shopping. Fully expected at least a 30 minute wait as this place is quite popular - with good reason! We were lucky though, and only had about a 15 minute wait. I wanted to check this place out as it seems like it has a diner feel to it, and that automatically puts it high on my list of places to try. The food is above average, and really satisfying. They've got pretty typical American fare - biscuits and sausage gravy, which our friend had and said was excellent. I had bacon, poached eggs, shredded hashbrowns (yay!) with a side of hollandaise, which was pretty typical packaged stuff. My boyfriend had a scramble with a few different kinds of meat with their famous American Fried Potatoes. These are basically proper hashbrowns which can almost never be found here these days as those nasty deep-fried cubes of something that vaguely resembles potato is the norm here. I also had a wicked $5 Mimosa which, was mainly sparkling and just enough orange juice to colour it - EXACTLY the way I like it. Not to mention it was in a large wine glass with no ice, but perfectly chilled. All in all, we were all happy with what we got. Last, but certainly not least is the service. They were busy, but they kept on top of everything, and frequently came by to check on our coffee levels. The lady we had was really sweet and the type of person that can call me "dear" or "honey" and me not mind it one bit. The prices are right too. Definitely going here again, and next time, I'm gettin' my shopping out of the way first so I can have more than one drink, cause "drunky shopping" is never a good idea for me. I can get a little "spendy" when I've had a few! If you're ever in Bellingham at breakfast/brunch/lunch time, check this place out!

My wife and I have just had the worst service I have ever encountered, after a 30 minute wait our "waitress" comes out with half our order and some feeble excuse about the chef messing up the order and having to refire my wife's food, we question if this is going to take another 30 mins or no and why did she bring out the nice hot gravy if the food wasn't ready to which the waitress answers in an annoyed tone saying " we'll I thought the food was coming didn't I" she then walks into the kitchen area saying oh just fuck off as she entered the kitchen. We have been coming to diamond Jim's for a long time but will not be coming back after this

Okay, so I just called to order to go again, and guess what another "the kitchen is to busy" wtf, never again. Diamond Jims u suck.

  • Tom J.

Would be a 4-star review, but my party of 4 had to wait too long to receive our food after ordering (30-40 minutes). When we asked the friendly cashier, he said they weren't particularly busy (though the dining room was mostly full). However, the food was a nice surprise: definitely above typical diner food. The AFP potatoes were delicious, with corned beef hash not from a can and excellent grated cheese on top. The eggs had bright orange yolks, suggesting local/pasture-raised eggs, a real plus for me. The salmon eggs benedict a companion had was said to be very good. The decaf coffee was not bad, but not great.

Wonderful breakfast place. It can get crowded but the wait is worth it. Make sure you sign yourself onto the wait list

One of my favorite spots for breakfast in Bellingham - their breakfasts range in size from the 1-1-1 (1 egg, one piece of meat, one pancake) to giant, hearty portions, so there's something for everyone. Everything is served fresh, hot, and cooked to order. The service is great, and some of the staff has been there for years (since they were at their old location on State St. My favorite is the biscuits and gravy, just can't get enough of those. My hubby loves the AFP's (which DJ's is famous for). They also have free wi-fi. I agree with the reviews that their coffee is just so-so, but it's still a solid destination for a reliably delicious breakfast.

  • Eniko N.

The hashbrowns and the eggs Benedict are great. And the sausage gravy is also delicious. Wonderful pancakes (you can also get gluten free ones). All in all it's a nice breakfast place but nothing too extraordinary.

The food is amazing! Support your local small business next time you are craving a delicious breakfast or lunch and get the best food for your money. Good service, good prices, great food! Will definitely be back, would recommend to everyone and it is the first place that comes to mind for breakfast in Bellingham. Yummy!

  • Denice R.

Cozy and unpretentious. More diner than restaurant in feel. Simple menu selections. Coffee is just ok (I wish they served the coffee that Wally roasts for his barbershop, that would be DIVINE). Their gluten-free pancakes taste like gluten-full pancakes (meaning they're good). My biggest brag about Diamond Jim's = THEY SERVE GRITS. Clean, inviting establishment. Friendly service. Can you bring in Wally's coffee?

Not just a quality breakfast but quantity too. Can't come to Bellingham without eating here!

The food is still excellent, but the service has taken a tumble since moving from the tiny diamond shaped building. We were there for an hour and a half (for breakfast) and sitting at the counter.

Great chicken fried steak!. Get it with the grits and you're in breakfast heaven!. Partners traditional eggs and bacon were great too... Will definitely return!

Diamond Jim's 2400 Meridian St Bellingham, WA Firstly Kudos to the guy I am dating for finding a breakfast place that I can eat at. I am a sucker and live on breakfast place establishments, however, after a while eggs and potatoes can get boring. I envy those that can have the full on eggs, toast, hash and pancakes...the over indulgent buffet stretch pants breakfast. Diamond Jim's has gluten free bread and pancakes....holy shit, my breakfast adventures are back. They have a really reasonable substitution fee, better than Vancouver. They use Bob Mills brand which is what I use for baking. Familiar quality of GF flour used. I couldn't tell the difference between a GF pancake and a regular pancake...the rice flour was that awesome. Diamond Jim's has that...only I forgot the stretchy pants at home, which was much needed. I tend to forgot how large US food portions are, therefore, my little tummy could only eat so much. I had to pack the entire omelette and potatoes to go. I was so full from the pancakes that I didn't need another meal for the rest of the day. It gets busy really fast, however, the guy I am dating and I crossed the border very early before the rest of the shops opened. The wait was quoted around 25 minutes, however, we received our meals in about 15 minutes. Reading the other review on Yelp, most quoted a 45 minute wait (for the food), therefore, I was anticipating that when I walked in the door. In preparation for the anticipated long wait, I colored in a Care Bears coloring book that was provided by the restaurant and played Jenga with the jam packets (I put the jam packets back in the container after). The waitress was super friendly and cheerful. There was always someone coming over to refill your coffee on the house and your water. The prices for the portions are amazingly awesome, better than Denny's.

We left Vancouver on a Sunday morning but wanted to get across the border into Washington before grabbing breakfast. We're glad we found this spot in Bellingham. I ordered the salmon eggs benedict. I love benedicts. They are the perfect breakfast comfort food for me and they did them right at this shop. The smoked Salmon was great and was full of great flavor. Though the service was a bit slow here, it was a nice local spot with a very friendly staff.

One of the best breakfast meals I've ever had. The biscuits are great. Been a few times and always have to wait for a table. Sausage gravy for breakfast is very American. The American potatoes are pretty tasty. Such a American meal I feel like getting involved in world politics

Been coming to DJ's for years, Good solid breakfasts, good service. Gets busy on weekends so if you can, come on a weekday. Diner food, diner style. not as much atmosphere as the old location on State St, but I'm sure they will grow into it. Parking can be a bit of a problem when the neighborhood gets busy. My breakfast fave is the AFP's with 2 eggs and country sausage gravy. AFP's? A heapin' helpin' of hashbrowns mixed with goodies like bell peppers or whatever you might want. You could make a different combo every day for a month. Warning, they're filling! Service is cheery and the coffee is always handy. Great place to recover from the night before.

  • Ashley S.

I went and it was a fine breakfast. I had biscuits and gravy. The gravy was good and had nice meat in it. Not as good as Old Town Cafe, though. The service was just fine and the coffee also was fine. You can get the picture. A fine eating experience. Nothing great and nothing bad either. Of it was later I would have had a selection from their craft beer list. I would go back.

My husband heard this place was great for breakfast, so we went in around 11am today. Loved that you can grab any table you like and there were plenty open. The booths and tables looked brand new and the whole place was very clean (bathrooms included). I ordered the French Dip sandwich and it was delicious, but a little pricey at $11. The fries were very tasty as well. My husband got a half order of the Country Benedict and added a pancake. It was tons of food and he raved about the gravy and the pancake. He also managed to eat half of my sandwich. My daughter had the kids cheeseburger which was pretty standard. But the price was great and they used real cheese - so that is great! The servers were all very friendly and prompt. I will be back for sure.

  • Kristin C.

It's just okay. The service here is really slow, and it would benefit them to higher some additional wait staff and cooks. Their breakfast menu is very egg heavy, even for a breakfast joint, and it would be nice if there was some variety. My mom found her potatoes overdone and dry, but my biscuits and gravy were alright. In all the food is good--not great, and there are definitely better breakfast restaurants in Bellingham.

  • Sara L.

Looking for a great diner-style breakfast? Diamond Jim's has a ton of delicious options. Nearly every meal comes with a delicious biscuit, fluffy pancakes, and/or AFPs (American fried potatoes). The sausage gravy is amazing, the coffee local and tasty, and the staff super friendly and nice. A nice feature is the variety of small plates available for low prices, making budget breakfasts easy and variable. Lunch, e.g. burgers and sandwiches, is also available. Recommendations: Blueberry pancakes, honey on your biscuits, and adding ingredients (I favor garlic and feta) to your AFPs, even if they are on the side of the main dishes. Don't forget to check the specials board on your way in; there is generally something amazing written there.

For me it is usually a toss up between here and Home Skillet when I'm looking for a weekend brunch place. Because parking sucks I often get frustrated and leave but I have never NOT been satisfied with the food, price or the service here.

  • Ian N.

Foods not bad, WTF are AFP??? should be AFGP or (American Fried Greasy Potatoes) Good pancakes and anywhere that has patty sausage is A-OK by me. My gripe? The way they seat you drives me nuts and I must say the service is pretty hit and miss. When you have a good waitress, it's a 4-5 star meal, when you get one of the others (which happens most of the time) better bring a book and a signal flare because you'll be waiting and a wave for eye contact isn't enough to make em stop.

Diamond Jim's is a diner, so my expectations for the restaurant are in line with other diners. I have only eaten at Diamond Jim's for breakfast. I became a fan years ago when they were located in the tiny triangle building on State Street that could not have been more typically a "diner". The 2-2-2 special has always been my favorite, old location or new. 2 plate-sized pancakes, 2 eggs (any style) and 2 pieces of pork (sausage or bacon). The pancakes today were very thin and delicious. Super light, seemingly lighter than I remember them being. In the past I have only had 1 pancake, but today 2 were just fine. The eggs are usually good, not fantastic, but good. The eggs today didn't seem the freshest and were a bit dry. The sausage are small sausages like those from the freezer case at the grocery store. The coffee is good, though today's seemed stronger (think "put hair on your chest" strong) than usual. I still like it. It is usually perfect. Agri-Bay Roasters is the brand of coffee, though I admit I haven't seen it elsewhere, I think it is a local company. The new location is easily 3 times the size of the old place, and everytime I have been, it has been packed. Usually if we get there before 9 AM on a weekend, we don't have to wait. Today we arrived at 8:40 and had to wait just 5 minutes. The decor is simple diner. Nothing fancy. In the past the noise in the main dining room was almost too much. But today we noticed that they management had installed sound-absorbing panels, and wow did they work! It was much, much quieter, we could even here the music they were playing. Very nice. The service is always good. Fairly fast, friendly, and always happy to help. I would recommend keeping your expectations in check and just enjoy a pleasant diner experience here at Diamond Jim's. If something doesn't suit you, I am pretty sure the competent wait staff will do all they can to help make it right!

  • Homer D.

Marginal at best. I think the scrambled eggs were dehydrated. Gravy too sweet. AFP's not as good as expected. Not a terrible place, but not worth a return visit.

They have the best gluten-free pancakes I have EVER had! The service was fantastic--friendly, prompt, and knowledgeable.

An easy drive south of the, "usual haunts." Chicken Scramble was good, so were the 'taters. Busy on weekends so be prepared to wait for your food. I'll be back!

A good greasy spoon diner is a wonderful thing to find and Diamond Jim's fits the bill. Good staff, good food, my only complaint is that it isn't open for dinner, which makes going there more often difficult. UPDATE: Weekend mornings are NOT the time to go here. A friend and I went for brunch and ended up waiting 2 hours for our food. Note: the staff was terrific about this, it wasn't negligence on their part and they kept us well informed and made sure we knew they hadn't forgotten us, it was just THAT incredibly busy. I'd rather they took their time and got the food right rather than just slamming out mediocre food, but we were extremely hungry and should have gone elsewhere under the circumstances. Note to Disabled: Some steps between dining areas and uneven floors- watch your step! I have tripped on the same section of floor every time I have come here (older building, not much they can do about it). The restrooms are difficult to access with an assistive device. Street parking only.

Diamond Jim's is my absolute favorite breakfast place in town. I don't know how they do it, but their french toast is absolutely amazing. Love the scrambles as well. The servers are friendly, and since moving to their new location there is significantly more space and it's very comfortable. Service can be on the slow side, particularly since they moved to a location which is so much larger. I think it took them awhile to hire more people and get a new flow going. But ultimately, I don't care. The food more than makes up for the little bit of the wait you might have. They now have a "light" menu, so you can get smaller orders of your favorite breakfast, which is a great thing because I can rarely eat as much as I get with a full order, and let's face it, eggs aren't the type of thing you really take home and save as left overs.

Great place for breakfast, you can sub a pancake for any of the biscuit options and their AFP's are delicious. Big portions so think sharing! Great atmosphere and good coffee.

Having awoken thoroughly sauced after a walking pub crawl...the only man I would trust the state of my mind to was: Diamond Jim. Black-as-coal, slightly-burnt coffee with refills every time you dipped below the half-empty point. Over-easy eggs, pile of red taters, excellent biscuit, browned sausage links. Slow but fresh. No rush, so we sat in the corner booth feeling regal, imperial, like breakfast Kings while the morning rushed around us. Kudos to you Diamond Jim. I'll return.

My husband, two kids and I visited Diamond Jim's today for the first time. I've heard a lot of good things about DJ's and I think it lived up to the hype. I've noticed most of the places we go for breakfast leave a lot to be desired. DJ's had true home-cooked food -- nothing was pre-fab or junk and the portions were large. My husband enjoyed his thick slices of french toast, and I had the best omelet, ever - covered in cheese and filled with onions, mushrooms and sausage. Everyone at the table ate their fill of the AFP (hash browns). Even though the restaurant had plenty of open tables, we waited about 10 minutes to get seated. Food took a while to arrive at our table, but I think it's worth it for freshly made items. We will definitely come here again.

I have been a customer of Diamond Jim's Grill off and on for about 5 years now. I always thought the prior location was a bit too small and I am pleased to see them in their larger new home. They seem to fit in rather nicely on this side of town too, and parking is less of a hassle. While it does mean it takes me a bit longer to drive out to it, I find it quite worthwhile. As far as I'm concerned they serve the best breakfast in town, perfect for a casual weekend morning. NOTE: Prices have gone up and portion size has gone down a bit over the years, but I think this is just a sign of the times, and I also see MANY of my favorite places doing similarly.

Just finished a delicious breakfast! I had the feta scramble and my husband had the chicken sausage scramble, which were both delicious. The biscuits were light and fluffy and the coffee was endless. Service was excellent. Definitely will be back!

Had to give their biscuits and gravy a try so we stopped in on our NW vacation. I wish the biscuits could have been more fluffy but they were still good. The gravy was the best part especially on the benedicts. The pancakes were fluffy and not overly cakey. Service was friendly as most places are in the NW.

For me, pallid greasy potatoes are not to be coveted. If you share my predilection for fresh and whole foods do not enter this restaurant. if you do enjoy uninspired greasy spoon diner faire, knock your self out.

Headed down to Bellingham early one Sunday to beat the boarder line up. We decided to grab some breakfast while we waited for the stores to open. We got the 2-2-2 ( 2 eggs, 2 sausage, 2 pancakes) and the standard AFPs, 2 eggs, and biscuit meal. The meal was pretty standard until we got to the pancakes. I hate those dry fluffy from a box pancakes most places serve. These pancakes were delicious just like mom makes and mom makes the best pancakes. We fought over who would get the last bite of these puppies. They made the meal. The AFPs (their specialty) were nothing to write home about. Better than McCain not as good as Bon's.The biscuit on the other hand? Bland, dry and boring. Maybe I'm just used to the southern style flaky and buttery ones. They get bonus points for having marmalade.

This is one of my favorite Bellingham places for a leisurely Saturday breakfast. It's definitely not the place to go if you're in a hurry (although they recently moved to a new space so perhaps the waits aren't as long!). The service is friendly, the food is yummy and I love spending a couple hours there over a few cups of coffee and the paper.

Enjoyed a wonderful brunch while visiting Bellingham. Sunday at 10am there was a 10 minute wait (seating is controlled so the servers aren't overloaded), followed by great service and delicious food. I had a pancake with blueberries plus eggs, bacon and fried potatoes. Everything was really delicious, fresh, hot and tastes homemade. Only wish...cook the bacon a bit more. Go to Diamond Jims and enjoy!

Well, me and my family checked out this restaurant out on a whim. Walked in, recognized it instantly as the stereotypical greasy diner--not a bad thing, mind you. I went through about three cups of coffee (albeit not great coffee) before we finally received our orders. Talk about SLOW, maybe that's our fault for going there on a Sunday morning, but they seriously need some work in the kitchen department. Fortunately enough, the food is worth the wait. I ordered a 2/2/2 (eggs/bacon/pancakes), and cleaned off my plate. I didn't have a chance to try their famed AFP's, however that's something I'll do next time I'm in town. Cliff notes: expect to wait a long time (not a place you want to go for a quick meal), so-so coffee, great food, courteous staff

Great food. Not too greasy of a greasy spoon. Get the home made corn beef AFC with fried eggs on top. And don't forget to get the biscuits with sausage gravy!

That was some amazing gravy. Craig, our server, was also awesome

A good Breakfast joint is hard to come by sometimes. I like a large breakfast and don't want to have to pay 20 bucks to get it. At Diamond Jims you get what you pay for and more. Large Portions of great food for less than 10 bucks in a nice enviroment. Nice place and Good service to boot. Great Restaraunt!

The breakfast here has no equal. The fried potatoes are great, as is the chicken fried steak. Excellent biscuits served with real butter and honey instead of margarine and fake honey made of high fructose corn syrup. The quality of all the ingredients shows a level of care and attention to detail few breakfast joints achieve. My lunch experiences here have always been good, too and if the newly instituted dinners are as good I'll be raving about the pot roast on the next review.

The food was spectacular, and the prices were extremely reasonable. Best diner food I've ever had. The burger was big and delicious, with all the fixings. I recommend getting the onions grilled -- they're really good. The french fries have a crunchy outer batter, which was super tasty. Normally, I don't like an open restaurant layout because it feels exposed, but I like the feel of this place. It was really comfortable. Only gripe is that I wish they were open later -- they'd be perfect for late-night dining.

Talk about HUGE portions! DJ's is has good food, good service and reasonable prices. If there was one thing I would criticize, it would be the lousy atmosphere. I have had consistently good experiences here, keep up the good work!

We had high expectations, but a 45 minute wait for a pb&j sandwich is just unacceptable. Food was mediocre, but I will say the diamond biscuits were very good. We will not be back, over priced, too long a wait, not enough incentive to spend our limited money on food I can cook better at my own house.

Diamond Jim's is a tiny place with huge portions. The service is fast and friendly - and the food is quite good. It's a diner/grill/cafe - but with a smile and it's not greasy. It's also clean! I like the 2/2/2, but everybody has their own preferences. Come to think of it - the AFP's (hashbrowns) are kller too - I like mine with veggies in it. Come early or come late if you don't want to wait for a seat - it's a tiny little restaurant. Great coffee. It's a great place to read the paper and plan a garage sale day while you eat...

Stopped in here this morning for breakfast. It was pretty crowded but we got a table relatively quick, which was good because there wasn't much room to wait and it didn't seem like the host was up to the task of calling out names if we didn't wait inside. No big deal, they had free newspapers to browse through, which was nice. After getting our table we quickly decided on our meal, my gf went with the eggs benedict with tomatoes and I went with some item that I've never seen on any other menu anywhere...I called it the "and" meal. It had 3 eggs, and AFP's, and sausage gravy and a biscuit, and 2 sausage links and 2 strips of bacon and a ham steak. I wasn't that hungry but I couldn't resist that kind of offering. The food came our pretty quickly, especially considering the time. The taste was pretty good, I really enjoyed the AFP's and the biscuit. The portions were absolutely huge. Good stuff.

Enough is enough. Service here has always been slow but this morning it took 40 minutes to get their basic "2-2-2" breakfast. They could have grown the chickens that produced the eggs in that amount of time! I'll limit my future breakfasts to those restaurants which offer same day service.

Sometimes you can have too much of a good thing. This is an instance of too much of a bad thing. Horrible food and too much of it. I dig the greasy spoon concept but this is a total FAIL.

Do not come here if you need food in less than 45 minutes.

DJ's rocks! I would give it 5 stars if it weren't so tiny and had more veggie options. My husband and I eat here on weekends on and off for years. The service is great, the place is clean, the portions are HUGE and good, and the coffee is great (we are picky about our coffee, this is TONYS coffee here). If you like meat try their house made corned beef hash, my husband loves it there and there only. I usually get the greek omelette or a veggie scramble. They have several veggie options, but they are fairly standard (veggie scramble, mexi-omelette, american fries w/veggies, greek omelette, etc..) I wish they had an option for organic eggs and also smoked salmon as an ingredient in one of their breakfast dishes. then it would be perfect! Warning though, this place is tiny, like a closet. So get there before 9am and you will probably get a seat. Or after 11. But anywhere in between on the weekends and you'll be waiting outside for a table. The only other downer that i can think of here is that they give styrofoam to-go containers. Usually you have leftovers, I will have to bring my own container I guess because I can't stand styrofoam, I don't care how cheap it is.

So far so good we were seated very quickly and our drink order was taken quickly. We were given enough time to look over the menu and our order was taken. We waited only 10 minutes for our food. Now I'm going to dig in it looks good. It looked good but it tasted better then it looked. I will definitely come back. The food is really tasty.

Worst food I've ever had! Bun was so hard you couldn't bite into it, so had to eat my burger bunless, and it was greasy and grose that I was pukeing my guts out within 10 minutes of leaving this place! Way over priced! Denny's or any other cafe' is better priced and better food then this place! Save yourself now don't eat here!!!!!!!

Took a group of out-of-town business guests here for breakfast on a Sunday morning in August. Not a cool experience. Waited for 20 minutes for someone to take our order. Waited 45 more minutes before physically getting up from the booth, walking back to the counter area to ask when we could expect our food, because our waitress was MIA. Was told they were "very busy" and food would be out in 5-10 minutes. 15 minutes later when waitress came to our table and we asked again, telling her we needed the check because our guests had flights to catch, she says "I suppose you want your food boxed to go now." Wow. Come to find out she was one of the owners. No apologies for the poor service, no discount offered, nothing but rudeness. Will never return, and will never recommend to friend, family, colleagues or customers.

Lame. This restaurant has the potential to be a decent breakfast spot by Bham standards, but has to lose the attitude, speed up the service, and drop the cost. Since they moved to the new location they only serve these small diamond shaped biscuits with the breakfast. If you simply want toast instead the biscuit they charge you $1.50. You could buy half a loaf of bread for that. Sheesh!

Older, but friendly and very busy place. Coffee is strong & good. I ordered the sausage & cheese omelet. Very tasty. I got there just before a big rush on a Sunday morning. Service was fast for refills of the coffee and water, but it took a while for the cooks to catch up. Worth the wait, though!

Terrible coffee! Greasy, bland food but very good service. I will NEVER go to Diamond Jim's again. So sad because it is the only breakfast restaurant in my neighborhood.

The quintessential "greasy spoon," Diamond Jim's is a Bellingham icon. Inside its small, triangular building, you will find a long bar and a half-dozen cozy tables. The menu is vast, and includes some excellent scrambles and some of the best biscuits and gravy you'll ever find. Be warned: Diamond Jim's is not a quick-fix. It is an experience. Go there with the expectation of relaxing and having a long conversation.

If you have only one place to eat breakfast in the B-Hamptons, make this the place. I subscribe to the the "hole in the wall" restaurant philosophy and this place nails it. Go early on the weekends cuz it's packed and expect a line since the place is small. The AFP's are the best thing goin' and the service is always friendly. Every time family and friends visit from out of town, this place is where we take them. Show Diamond Jim some love and you won't be disappointed.
