This place is overrated. Went for breakfast on a busy sat morning. Food was average. Eggs Benedict was about what you would expect at IHOP. My kids breakfasts were underwhelming. Coffee was pretty standard diner coffee. Meaning watery. Was not worth the wait which is a shame. Any suggestions out there for breakfast in B town?

This place is friendly and has good food. The bar area is a nice spot to watch football games!

The 2 stars were strictly due to the poor and lack of service. For the food, I'd give it a 3 star, nothing great but decent, greasy spoon breakfast food. As for the service, we ordered our breakfast with a pancake. We get our plates of food but no pancake so we taking our time eating. It's busy so we figured it'll be out in a few more minutes. No biggie. So we're waiting and waiting. The food is half eaten and our waiter hadn't even come back to check on us or fill our water. After waiting over 10 minutes or so, we flagged him down and told him to cancel our pancake since we were almost done with our food and somewhat full. Then he had the nerve to say, "Are you sure you don't want it? It's still sitting up there?" HUH?? Do I still want the pancake that's been sitting on the counter for 10+ minutes???? I think I'll pass, thanks. Any apologizes for forgetting it? Nope. Just a, "well, okay then" crosses off the pancake on our bill and turns around and walks off. He still never asked how our food was or refilled our water. When I finished eating, my food sat there and still no waiter. The busboy finally came by to refill our water and I asked for a take-out box. He came back quickly and off we left. We never saw our waiter again.

I went in for breakfast on a Saturday morning. The restaurant was busy but I was seated without any wait. I had the Eggs Benedict and a cinnamon roll (10.95 + 4.25). Portion size was good but I'd say it was fairly average for a breakfast place.

Sometimes, you just want a cheap 'n fast breakfast without any of the bells and whistles. Sometimes, the thought of driving to the store to buy breakfast supplies seems too daunting. Sometimes, you don't want to dirty then clean your own kitchen. At times like these, there will always be Lil' Johns. A diner in every sense of the meaning, I've been coming here for years when all the above applied. Breakfast is simple and satisfying and they're menu is flexible enough that I'm able to order a Ruben at 10:30 am because I wasn't in the mood for eggs. Don't expect mind blowing food, this is a simple diner in every sense of the term. You can get in, fed, and out in under half an hour thanks to the prompt service and speedy kitchen. One little treat, if you're looking for great people watching check out the bar ANY night of the week. Grab a pint and a dark corner and watch the fantastic characters unfold in front of you.

lil jon in eastgate is a great place for typical diner fare, friendly service, stiff and cheap sauce and breakfast all day/night. what more do you want?

Friendly staff, ok atmosphere, good prices, the food was just ok. My normal brunch fare-the chicken fried steak was ok, eggs were ok, the biscuits were very good, the gravy was runny liquid, like water. I ate here before the fire, and I'd probably come back, it's ok if you are hungry, just so-so if you are a critic.

I was predisposed to love this place, as I love diner fare, and I read all the great reviews here, but I left a bit disappointed. My two teen kids and I came here for lunch and were seated at a booth in the back. I liked the diner ambiance; it harkens back to diners in my youth. It was drafty, though, and whenever any of the employees went through the back door, a cold breeze resulted. My kids were okay, but I was chilled. I was very impressed by the menu, as a lot of foods are offered, and all at reasonable prices. The server took our drink order and promptly returned with our beverages, but then disappeared. After 15 minutes or so, I asked my kids, did the waitress take our orders? They said no. We waited another 5 minutes and then the server returned and took our order. Luckily, our meals came shortly afterwards, as we were quite hungry by that time! And I must admit, the food was delicious: perfectly prepared BLT's, and a chef salad that was exactly as how I remember chef salads to be: amply proportioned, with super-fresh veggies and lots of thin turkey and cheese strips, with hard boiled eggs, and a large cup of salad dressing on the side (I hate when you get a thimble of salad dressing and have to keep asking for more. Not here!). It was swell! After our meals, we were thinking of having dessert, but the waitress never came by to ask if we were done or not. We waited 5-10 minutes, but she was nowhere to be found. So we went to the cash to pay. The cashier kindly offered us a dessert to take home, but we passed. So.... the food here was great, the prices okay, the menu selection diverse, but the service was spotty. I think they were understaffed. We will give this place another chance. The salad was that good!

This was my first time trying this place even though I have lived on the eastside for many years and the restaurant itself is like any ordinary american cafe. They have all-day breakfast just like Denny's which was the reason we came to try it out. The food itself was very bland and had no seasoning at all. I had ordered the hash browns and eggs with chopped ham. My gf had the steak and eggs. I sampled the steak and it was just very dry and overcooked. The hash browns were very greasy and needed a lot of ketchup and pepper to give it any taste. The portions were a decent size, but overall it was underwhelming. Service was pretty quick even though the place was packed the time we came for lunch and they did have the tv tuned to the Seahawks game that day for all the patrons sitting at the bar stools.

Yay! We went for re-opening week after the fire rebuild. The place was packed, food was served hot and service was great.

Good food. Great prices. Fast service. Needing a pick me up from last night. Ordered biscuits and gravy last time at noon (didn't think they would have any left) and they hit the spot.

This place is wildly popular - it always seems slammin' busy. The food is pretty average - nothing to write home about (but I'll post it on Yelp!) It is better than Denny's food. Prices are fairly reasonable - and it's hit or miss with the college kids that wait the tables. Try not to tip for poor service! Minus one of the stars for dish cleanliness and floaters in hot-tea water!

This is a traditional, American truck-stop style cafe. Decent food, and plenty of it. Don't go in expecting a 5-star filet mignon and Dom Perignon champagne, and you'll be pleased with the restaurant. It can get insanely busy (especially at lunch time and during the holidays), but just know if you go at those times - others did too. Be patient. The service has been friendly, the food decent for the price and, usually, fairly quick. It was devastating when it closed down due to the fire for a few months, but we were very happy to see it open up again. When you notice the clientele are made up of business folk, old-age pensioners and truckers.....well - you know what you're getting into. Just relax, sit back and enjoy a bit of the old style american cafe.

Remodel is nice, clean, friendly staff. The food was ok, standard cafe fare. I liked the Reuben sandwich better than the French dip, but the quality isn't enough to make it a repeat order. I would like to try their breakfast menu however.

I had a fabulous meal here today. This restaurant is exactly like a diner in the movies. I was greeted warmly by the server. She asked me what I would like to order in the perfect raspy voice. I ordered the #4 and a coffee. While I waited for my food, I sipped my coffee. Although it was busy, the servers managed to keep my coffee full! I counted how many times my coffee was filled. 32 times in a span of 10 minutes! When my order arrived, it looked like they used a whole carton of eggs instead of 2, which is what it states on the menu. I ate it anyway. My coffee was then filled another 15 times before the bill. I was ready to receive my order plus 10 egg bill But it was 12 and change. I asked the server if this is correct and she said it was. What a deal!!! After I paid my bill, I tipped the server $100. She jumped and touched the ceiling out of reaction, did a victory lap around the restaurant then licked the side of my face. I guess that means thank you in diner. After I left the diner, a line of breastfeeding mothers were waiting to kiss me on the cheek and tell me how important I am. I will definitely be back for my 50+ coffee toppers.

New to the area so I relied on Yelp. I wasn't wowed by the service or the food. The pancakes were too thick and had a bad after taste. Maybe it's a regional thing but I like my pancakes thin and crispy. I wouldn't come back or refer anyone here

The food and service greatly improved post-blaze for this particular establishment. We usually go for the breakfast (#3 is delicious). Dinner has always been the smarter alternative to the neighboring fast food joints. Staff is friendly and you can't beat the exellent location right off I-90. Great diner experience.

Came out to Lil' John's after being highly recommended. It was a very busy Christmas-Eve morning so it was understandably slow to get a server to take our order. However, the food was good & affordable. I would compare it to truck stop diner food (which I love!).

It seems like we try to make a weekly pilgrimage to Lil' Jon every Sunday morning. Same thing yesterday, was up early, ready and happy to get to enjoy breakfast. But when we pulled up to the parking lot it wasn't packed full of cars and there wasn't a line of people waiting out the door. Strange. In fact, all of the windows were covered up and we saw a sign that said "Lil' Jon closed due to fire, we will be back." Nooooooooo! This is the best breakfast diner food I've had. Don't come here looking for fancy, 5-star diner service, decor, or taste. It's simple at Lil' Jon and that's why I like it. Be prepared to have to sign your name onto a clipboard to get a table and wait 20 minutes or so to be seated. Be prepared for it to be crowded, a tad bit loud, an occasional dropping of a plate or two. Be prepared for large groups of teenagers, families, and the elderly. The service I've had here has always been decent. They are fast and the servers are always familiar faces and extremely friendly considering how busy they get. The 1-2-3 is my thing! 1 pancake, 2 eggs, and 3 strips of bacon. It hits that good ol' comfort food spot. This is not the place to come to be organic and healthy or have tremendously high standards! Do come with a friendly smile, patience, and empty and willing stomach because the food is heavy and filling! I can't wait until Lil' Jon is open again. I hope everything is okay after the fire and there wasn't too much damage done.

I use to go here all the time in high school. The food is good and the portions are solid. Not bad place, good luck finding a table though

The highlight of the trip would definitely be the milkshakes. We ordered a chocolate milkshake . It was piled with whipped cream, and so big that 2 people couldn't finish it. It was delicious though, but expensive. The French toast was ok, nothing special. The Caesar salad was really good, kind of a lot of dressing though. The prices were kind of high, but the restaurant itself was really cute and diner-like. It was packed, but luckily we didn't have to wait.

This is a place for people who live to eat! None of that healthy vegan breakfast stuff, pure substance here. And don't get me started on the bacon (which I never eat at restaurants!!) and the cinnamon rolls!! Only the heartiest of portions!! I saw a father and son diving into one of the cinnamon rolls before I had ordered anything... it was MASSIVE. Nothing like a pile of dough with sugar and butter to cure my morning blues. I ordered one right away. And yes I was angry that I could only put a minor dent in it... but that small dent was intense! Best breakfast stop I've been to in a long time! Now I'm craving bacon again.

  • Deanna R.

It appears to be a greasy spoon type diner, but everything was excellent quality. Clientele from all walks of life, friendly staff...the only downside was appearance and for us, lack of kid friendly drink cups. Servers get busy and don't check in a bunch, but food comes quickly. I had the French toast and we shared bacon. Both were very good. Even the fruit cup was all fresh cut fruit. Excellent value.

Lil' Jons had a kitchen fire last night and is closed until further notice. With that said, when it reopens, I will definitely be going back for more. My family goes there every couple months for breakfast. Great diner food, though I have to agree that the service isn't going to be holding your hand the whole time - but they are quick to help when you can grab them. I've always heard wonderful things about the cinnamon rolls and the omelets are great. Rebuild quickly!!

Good food, great service, family atmosphere. After the fire they didn't even raise the prices on the menu, they restored it perfectly too! however the Friday night special the first few weeks was terrible, when it use to be amazing. We finally told the wait staff and they sent over the manager, who knew exactly the issue. The next week, the issue was fixed and possibly even better! Good job LJ's!

I have eaten at Lil Jon's probably more then 100 times and I have never had a bad meal here. I have come for breakfast, lunch and dinner ...never a disappointment. Me and my husband went to lunch yesterday and I got the most eye opening experience at Lil Jon's that I have never seen before. I SAT UP AT THE BAR NEAR THE KITCHEN!!! OMG..............is the only words I can say...I will explain before. Lil Jons is always packed, no surprise. I have always sat at a table or a booth, never the bar, so I never really watched how the diner flows....6 waitresses, 3 cooks, 3 bussers...everyone knew their job! What was so impressive was the cooks in the kitchen....THEY ARE FRICKEN MACHINES!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They have such a system going on back there that you just have a watch! Everything in that diner runs smoothly due to everyone knows their jobs, they communicate and they get good food out to the customers fast!!! I love this place....yes it might be a grease spoon, but it's my grease spoon!!!!

Since I'm a former breakfast junkie (not that's a bad thing!), it had been awhile since I had frequented this spot. So one *rare*, sunny day, my husband and I paid a visit, and we weren't disappointed! Upon arrival, we were greeted with friendly recognition, which I found endearing, considering we hadn't been there in months and seated right away. (The latter was another surprise due to the fact that this place can fill up on a Sunday morning.) Our orders were taken and it wasn't long before food quickly appeared. From the cinnamon rolls the size of small planets (and delicious to boot!) to thick-cut, crispy bacon to hearty portions of hash browns, Lil' Jon is truly not for the appetite-challenged! (Have you seen the size of the pancakes?!) In addition, you don't come there for the ambiance and decor--It's not that type of establishment! You come here for the friendly faces and simple, good old-fashioned American fare, which makes it one of the few breakfast gems in Bellevue.

  • Mary V.

The food is good, atmosphere ok, and servers....well....clearly have other things going on. Depends on who you get, but really they give you your check when your food comes out, clearly sending a message that "I am done with you, have a nice day." They seem busy (even when they're clearly not) and really are in a rush and don't check in--at all. The cashier we had today didn't say a WORD except to give us the price and no "have a nice day!" or anything of the like. So yea, it's OK.

Man sometimes it is just better to pay more money to get decent food. So I just happened to be in the area and tried this place out. I went for a club sandwich which was OK but sucks that I was at the bar and saw that the waitress roasted the bread before handing it back to the kitchen to finish the sandwich. I asked for the garden salad as my side for the sandwich. And little did I know that this garden salad was just lettuce and croutons. Now that is a crappy salad. But again the food was cheap but I will pass next time or just go to a Applebees.

I'd put Lil' Jon in the category with Denny's, IHOP and the like: Americana Diner food... but, Lil' Jon is actually really GOOD! On the few occasions I've stepped in, I wasn't early enough to try a cinnamon roll or the biscuits, but I really want to after seeing the recommendations AND how the wait staff just kind of chuckled when we asked if they had any more and it was still before noon! The place is busy in the morning and early afternoon for breakfast/brunch, but we planned to arrive mid-afternoon and it wasn't as booming as it had been during peak breakfast hours. The service has always seemed fast and friendly. Even when we arrived in the late morning, we were seated in under 10 minutes without needing to write our names down or anything (we honestly thought we'd have a longer wait by the size of the line, but things moved along swiftly). The servings are rather massive and not really expensive, so you get a good amount for your dollar; they do offer some smaller options ("Lite Bites" I think they're called) if you're not ready to eat a horse when you come. Another good thing: breakfast is served all day... and, YES, you definitely SHOULD get the bacon! It's not the thin scraggly bacon you get at other diners; here, it is thick and flavorful. Good stuff! I would like to give this place 5 stars, but I haven't found anything there that completely WOWs me. Yes, the bacon is superior to the stuff served at other places, but the other items I've had haven't quite matched it in quality. The portions are huge, but I'd prefer to have great flavor/execution over size. The other food items are "fine" but not OMGAMAZINGNOMNOMNOM quality.... but, I haven't been able to try the "flagship" items like the cinnamon rolls or the biscuits because they don't have them by the time I step in; I do think, though, that if they know these items are so very popular that maybe they should consider making some more so that during their peak breakfast hours more patrons have a chance to try them. If/When I do get to finally try those and if they're spectacular, I'll definitely bump this place up a notch because it really is a great diner -- much more special than jumping into one of those breakfast chain restaurants!

Lil' Jon's is a wonderful landmark piece of Americana. My favorite Sunday morning retreat is to sit at the counter and watch the grill crew feverishly work their magic. The entire staff works together as a finely tuned team. The food is prepared fast and served hot. It's just fun to watch them. Love it! The fire caused a hole in the Eastside universe. I can't wait till they reopen.

The burgers here are absolutely terrible. Additionally, I asked the waitress if the double was huge as my appetite wasn't very large on this particular evening - She assured me that it wasn't. When the burger arrived it was indeed very large. Normally this would not be a bad thing however it didn't taste very good at all and thus was wasted food and wasted money.

  • Dani H.

I have been here twice and I have been a bit skeptical of going back since my 2nd experience. The food overall was pretty good and it's always a bit busy so you most likely will have to wait for a seat which is totally fine with me since I'm pretty patient. The last time I came here I had a waitress (who I noticed had a flower in her hair both times I was in, not sure if that will help anyone recognize her) I was seated and handed a menu, after I was ready to order I told her what I wanted and she looks at me and says "that's a lot of food, are you sure you want to eat all of that" I was pretty offended but being as stubborn as I am I even added pancakes onto the order I already made and made sure to eat every single piece of it, I'm pretty sure I walked in about 130 lbs and left 10 pounds heavier but I don't care. In my opinion waiters and waitresses should NOT tell customers what they should and should not eat and should not give out health advice if not asked for, and for that exact reason I'm not sure I'll ever be a customer here again.

A direct route to a future coronary and I'm sure lovely cholesterol findings after eating here too often.....however I don't care, the food is absolutely great! Its a true greasy spoon though with a really friendly environment. This is a once a month treat for us.

If you are looking for greasy diner food in Bellevue, this is your spot. No seriously, I don't think there are any others. And if there are, I'm not sure if I'd go, because this spot does greasy diner food really well. Pro tip - If you're with your fellow 21+ friends and no kids in tow, you'll get food much quicker in the bar. You'll also get to watch football and chat with the regulars; tons of regulars. Those cinnamon rolls are the size of your head.

  • Sam R.

Love their french dip sandwich. I've been twice so far. Restaurant had a wait both times, but I was willing to sit at the counter (open seating) so was able to sit down quickly, and there was minimal wait for the food.

I had breakfast here last Sunday. The waiter seemed like a nice kid, he just really didn't stay long at our table. Basically barking what do you want? Not in a mean way, just very preoccupied. I ordered scrambled eggs, ground meat pattie with hash browns. The eggs were fluffy and the best part about the meal, the rest was a greasy and buttery mess. When we went to pay the bill the front cashier girl was too focused on credit card receipts printing that she blatantly ignored a customer coming in. I ended up providing direction to the guy, I guess multitasking is a lost art here, at least at the cashier. :\. Not really impressed overall. The service wouldn't have bothered me if the food was actually good. I recommend going to Chace's or Patty's Egg Nest in Bothell. Patty's has large portions. Chace's is good, but be prepared to wait an hour at peak breakfast times.

Best greasy spoon on Eastside! Staff are attentive and many have been there for years. They are BUSY on weekends - so plan on a wait if you go for breakfast on Saturday or Sunday between 8-10 a.m... Husband claims they have the best bacon (thick and cooked to perfection) :)

    (5)
  • Sunny H.

I waited a long time to try this place out (due to fire and all). I must have built up my own expectations during that waiting period, because I was not impressed. It's not depressing but I'm just not all that excited to return. We got their standard breakfast items: veggie omelette and their standard fare of 2 eggs, toast, bacon/sausage, etc. Again nothing shockingly amazing but not bad for a neighborhood joint.

  • Nicole C.

The food was fantastic! The cinnamon roll was HUGE and absolutely tasty! It was so good I tried to eat it all but it giant size just made that too difficult. Call a head for reservations as we had a 10-15 min short wait on a Friday mid morning. Portion sizes are extra large so keep that in mind when ordering. Try the cinnamon roll you won't regret it!

  • Brad F.

Classic diner. Great for big, delicious breakfast. Check out the giant cinnamon rolls. They're pretty awesome (and enormous!) The owner(s) and employees seem genuinely nice and they've built a loyal following. Be prepared to wait a little while during busy times.

How in heavens name have I not written a review for this place yet?! I come here for breakfast pretty much every Sunday around 9/9:30 am (There is usually about a 15-20 minute wait starting at 10am) and get LJ's Breakfast (French Toast) with my egg over easy and bacon and a coffee Reasons why I LOVE this place: food is consistently good and they are very good at refilling my coffee. I also love that they know I don't need a menu and that I always get coffee. Tips for new comers: If you come when it's busy you go to the cashier and put your name and number of people on a sign up sheet. If everyone is over 21 you can sit in the bar, which is the door to the far left when facing the cashier, without waiting. They refill your coffee. And you can substitute your toast for pancake if you want, just ask :) I love their French Toast and the Biscuits and Gravy is pretty good too! I hate cinnamon rolls, but have been told theres are really good.

Great old school breakfast place. If you are with a group try the huge cinnamon Roll and split it with everyone...it can feed at least four people. Someone else compared this place to Denny's ....This place is much better than that, but it sure is Americana food!

    (4)
  • Annette P.

I would give 5 stars, hands down. I used to be in love with this place, mostly for their infamous ginormous warm oozy gooey cinnamon roll. It was perfection - soft and sweet but not too sweet. I always get it when I come. Sometimes they serve me a hard crispy one, which I hate but I still come back. I was excited and awaiting their reopening for another dose of sweetness, however, I was utterly disappointed. The cinnamon roll was 1/3 of the size it used to be and it was hard. Le sigh.

I really want to like this place since we have some friends who are regulars here, but it's usually a disappointment each time I go. The food is okay. It's basically regular diner food that you can get at most diners, and is pretty close to what you'd get at a national chain such as Denny's - both in terms of food and atmosphere. However, they are well known for their cinnamon roles, which I've had once and must admit are very good. The reason I only give it two stars is because the cinnamon roles are just too difficult to get unless you arrive very early in the morning. They sell out quickly and refuse to make more once they're out, so if you go here expecting to eat tasty roles you may be disappointed like we have been. The waitress did tell us that someone ordered a whole bunch of them in the morning, which is great for the hoarder but not so great for us. We settled for a regular breakfast and had average service from our waitress, which I would normally give at least three stars for. But their business model only leads to disappointment - at least in my case.

My friend waitresses here so maybe I'm kind of biased- but I liked this place alot. Nothing fancy here- just good food. The eggs benedict dish that I ordered tasted awesome and was a pretty large size.. I also got to try the garden burger which was delicious. Deff coming back :)

  • Joyce J.

I ordered the green eggs and ham and it was just eggs with green onions. The bacon here is really good. I was here with twelve other friends and many of us ordered a side of bacon. The pancakes here are also known. I tried a little bit of my friends and I thought it was alright. The portion was quite big nevertheless as she needed to take one of her two pancakes home. A good place to come if you want a big breakfast.

Our favorite breakfast place in town. Very simple with very quick customer service and creative menu. The biscuits and gravy are spectacular. They do breakfast just right, but it is definitely not a secret, so a few minutes in a pretty quick line are expected on the weekends.

what a great casual place! we went on Friday evening for dinner. the special was prime rib and let me tell you that i haven't had such a flavorful prime rib in years. the staff was terrific and the drinks were good, too. great atmosphere and i would definitely go again.

Great American style diner. Classic biscuits and gravy. Chicken fried steak with country gravy. Did I mention gravy?

  • Aaron C.

If you are looking for just simple American breakfast that is just plain bad for you...Lil Jon is your spot. When you arrive just expect you are not going to look for a fancy menu. On the weekends I would suggest coming early or giving yourself some time cause it gets really packed here. Things to order when you visit...hmmmmm, the chicken friend steak, bacon and the club sandwich. I was stay this place is similar to a Denny's but much better.

  • Sarah D.

Really pretty darn good. I would say somewhere between a 3.5 and 4. It is not set my heart on fire kinda good, but Lil' Jon is a solid little greasy spoon, old school diner. Hubby had biscuits and gravy and was in heaven. I had a gardenburger with fries and both were really good. They butter their buns before toasting them. Sounds like a funny thing to mention, but it's a nice touch that a lot of folks leave off. The fries are good, hearty, delish steak cut and crispy. I highly recommend anything with the fries. The one bummer was the house salad which was $3-4 (don't remember exactly). It was just lettuce and croutons that tasted deep fried. I would skip the salad for sure. I am just glad to see that Bellevue still has some old school places like Lil' Jon.

  • Matt N.

They have giant food proportions, but what American diner doesn't? the diner has a old fashion feel, which ads to the nostalgia when eating the breakfast comfort foods. Something I was surprised was how big the cinnamon rolls were. I ended up getting a country fried steak which was really tasty. I've been to places that have had better, like Patty's Eggnest, but for proximity to where I live, I would come possibly twice a year. The service was like any other restaurant. I have no real complaints, but nothing blew me away about this restaurant.

It's a typical diner, so if you're expected anything beyond that, I recommend you lower your expectations or go elsewhere. Aside from their enormous cinnamon rolls (which reheats well for those who can't consume one in a sitting), they have quick service, large portions, and reasonable pricing. Their coffee is really good too. Don't plan to be pampered by the staff, they tend to serve quick and move on to the next table. I appreciate their efficiency and no nonsense attitude. You won't ever see one standing around with little to do. It's pretty clear there are lots of regulars here. It seems to be a good meeting spot too. It can get packed in the morning so be prepared to wait. Parking can be tough as well. But if you are looking for a quick gut-filling meal, this is a great place to stop.

I've been going to Lil' Jon for over 4 years, and my boyfriend and I love to stop by for breakfast at least once a month because we love their fluffy pancakes, eggs benedict, chicken tequitos, and biscuits and gravy. They used to have excellent service. They would greet you immediately after being sat, food would come out quick, and you definitely felt like family here. The past few experiences we've had have been so terrible; unfriendly wait staff, billing mistakes, no acknowledgment after food is dropped at the table, and you're definitely forgotten. I've been in the Food and Service Industry for almost a decade to this day and i know this is not how service should be. The food is still the same quality, but the customer service makes the whole experience frustrating and uninviting. I've raved about Lil' Jon when I first discovered this place over 4 years ago, used to refer friends, supported them after the fire, but now we definitely won't be back until customer service becomes a priority.

What?!? What?!?!? YEAAAAAH!!! that's what went through my mind every time I saw Lil' Jon Restaurant's sign when I'd drive by for the past 3-4 years. Yet it was finally on friday I found an excuse to stop in with some family friends as diner food sounded like a good idea, and IHOP and Denny's just wouldn't cut it. First off the place is a little weird to get to, but then again I took the back road entrance from the bowling alley. I guess the easier way would've been just to drive to Dairy Queen as it's right next door. The place looks pretty dirty outside with a nice neon sign that says "cocktails" outside. I was a little worried at first. Then we walked in and she asked table for how many? it was the point of no return. I was pleasantly surprised. The place was clean (for a diner), cozy, service was fast and friendly too, and not nearly the mad house you come to expect out of a typical diner like IHOP or Denny's. Nor did you have to wait hours to get seated or for your food like at Beth's. The great thing about groups if you get to try everything everyone is eating. So Mozarella sticks, salt & pepper wings, chicken fried steak, double cheese burgers, blackberry milkshake, and vanilla milk shake was what I sampled that night. Mozarella sticks and Salt & Pepper wings were delicious. And keep in mind the appetizers are huge. It's almost worth while to just order the wings and fries and a coke and call it a meal. The "HUGE" milkshake is a pretty decent size because they give you the canister (like Red Robin) does of extra shake. and it was delicious too. You know what, let's just say all the food was delicious. Our group of 7 ran a bill of less than $100, pretty much everyone got drinks, an entree, and we shared two appetizers. Very reasonable prices IMO. I will definitely be back, especially for those salt & pepper wings. It would go delicious with some steamed rice (that's the Asian side of me). ~G

I've been meaning to write a review about Lil' Jon and was reminded that I need to do it after having a bad experience at another diner this last weekend. Lil' Jon is one of those old school diners that has been around forever. It's an old building next to a Dairy Queen that's also been around forever. In stark contrast, the other business on the block is a huge, modern Toyota dealership that was built just a few years ago. My guess is they were offered cash to dump the old place, but I'm glad they didn't. If you plan on having breakfast at Lil' Jon, plan on a wait as the place is always packed with a line out the door. Their seating system isn't the best as you sign yourself in at the register and if you're a newbie, you may not figure this out right away. Once you do get in & seated, it's worth the wait. A must order is a homemade cinnamon roll. They are served piping hot and appear to be steamed as they are moist. On top is a decadent butter/frosting and if you want more, they'll bring as much as you want. To prevent sugar coma, I always split one of these with friends. I'm a creature of habit so I usually order the old standard, bacon & eggs. Their bacon is some of the best I've ever had. I don't know where they buy it from, but I wish I did! The eggs & hash browns aren't anything special, but they are cooked correctly and very good. This place is definitely my go to lazy Saturday/Sunday morning breakfast spot. If you go, get a cinnamon roll (and go early because they sell out quickly some days) and be sure to try the bacon. Good stuff!

At first, I was thinking this place was not going to hit the spot, but based on the glowing reviews I gave it a shot as it is a stone's throw from my hotel. Apparently, this place is family owned and run, and I was treated nicely during my meal in the lounge section of the establishment. As far as the food goes, I have to say that the wings are pretty solid - they are very spicy(and I love hot food), but there was a bit too much breading. As far as the entrée - I had the hot turkey melt. This was a oven roasted turkey breast melt, with tomatoes, mayo and home cooked goodness. The salad was also surprisingly fresh and delicious. At the end of the day, if you are in this area and interested in some classic diner/bar food fare, I would recommend checking this out

I was in Bellevue past 6:00 PM on a Saturday and had a hankering for breakfast for dinner. I ordered the chicken fried steak and eggs and a single pancake (note: they're huge!) and my friends had the taco omelette and more pancakes. Everything was tasty, our waters were constantly being refilled and the staff was friendly. The breakfast options in the Bellevue area are limited, but Lil' Jon's is definitely head and shoulders above chain stuff like Denny's. I'll definitely go there when I'm in town.

I love Lil' Jon's. Been going here for years - Even dating to back in the day when you could smoke in the bar. (Were we really allowed to do that???)There was nothing better than getting a #3 (scrambled eggs with ham & cheese served with hash browns & toast of your choice), reading the Sunday paper & having a smoke or two. We went here the other day. It had been awhile since I had been. I, of course, got a #3, as did my boyfriend. But, for some reason or another, his #3 looked nice & fresh, and mine looked like it had been the scrapings & scraps of his cook up. It was the first time that I have ever had to send food back there. I felt horrible doing so too! But, my take on when I eat out is that if I am paying for my food, I have expectations of it being at least decent, if not nice to look at and first and foremost, edible. I was actually quite disappointed with how crappy it looked & tasted. So, why 4 stars, you ask? Because this was just a one time instance of the food being sub-par. Like I said before, I have never had to send back my food in the past (nor do I typically do such a thing!) and have always usually had good food and decent service. So, they deserve the 4 stars even though this particular trip there wasn't the best. Which is a bit disappointing because it was my birthday that day. Oh well. It still ended up being ok! Give Lil' Jon's a go. Go for a #3 or try the biscuits & gravy - they are awesome!

Following fellow Yelper's reviews, I made sure we arrived before the 'church rush'. 0930 seems to be the sweet spot as several tables were still available when we arrived. The four of use were seated right away by friendly staff. Lil' Jon's has all of the favorite 'greasy spoon' dishes from biscuits & gravy, chicken fried steak CFS) to cakes and eggs and hash brown plates. Of course we had to order a giant gooey cinnamon roll, only one for the four of us (I polished it off). I left the hash browns and one biscuit. The buscuit was good, nice and dense as I like them, I was just full and would rather eat the roll. I was surprised to learn they do not make their own sausage gravy, but I ordered the CFS anyway with eggs and shredded hash browns. While the browns were good, I'm going to have to remember to order them crispy. They were nicely cooked, just not as crispy as I like. The next time we visit, I'm going for the cakes, they safely landed on a nearby table and looked great.

A great option for breakfast. I eat here at least once a week and I have not been disappointed yet. The bacon is the best I've had anywhere. And the chicken fried steak is also top notch. And so are the hash browns. In fact, everything they serve is high quality. You can't find better food from a diner anywhere.

I've been a breakfast regular at Lil Jon's for years. A group of us hike the nearby Cascades every week. Our rule is we can only begin discussing what we'll order for our Lil Jon's breakfast on the way down the mountain. It's an incentive to walk faster. Service is always quick and friendly, the food consistently comforting and good. Try the corn beef hash with eggs and a side of fruit. Excellent! It's not on the menu, but just ask. On special occasions we'll share one of their cinnamon rolls among 5 or 6 of us, One is plenty because these things are the size of a wedding cake - but taste better. There are several favorites among our climbing group. If we're REALLY hungry, we might go for the taco omelette, which is massive and comes with sides of salsa and guacamole. Then there's the chicken fried steak. I know, this isn't on Dr. Oz's list of healthy foods, but once in a while it's good to just go for it and eat something that's sinfully good. Their bacon is thick and delicious. I'm salivating just thinking of it. The oatmeal is quite good too, if you want something you can tell your mother you ate. This is a diner. If you want Wolfgang Puck or Mario Batali, look elsewhere. The food is simple, well prepared, tasty, and satisfying. It's also consistent. I doubt the menu has changed in 30 years. And that's a good thing! Mid-week is best to avoid the crowds others have described. One final note. This is a family restaurant, meaning it's owned and run by the same family that's served breakfast, lunch and dinner to hungry guests for - I don't know how long, but at least the 1970s. The second generation is in charge now. Our favorite server is Amy (the others are good too, but we love Amy) who is the original owner's daughter. For our band of merry hikers, eating at LJs is like coming home for breakfast on Thursday mornings.

This place is my once-a-week must must must go to. Middle of the week and middle of the day, I hit there for a good lunch and a much-needed leveling out. I sit in the lounge for the atmosphere -old-timey, neighborhood pub feel. I love the crowd and love the food; it's all equally friendly. Food is basic fare, just cooked well. It makes a difference. I'm a fan of their bacon: thick and cooked perfectly. I never felt like I wanted to be a 'regular' anywhere, since most places today seem interchangeable. Lil' John's is unique, personable, with a great staff. I look forward to it each week.

I have been coming to LJ's for 15 years or more. The food is great, service is quick, and very consistent. This place never misses a beat and it's easy to tell they've been doing this for a while.

They would have received five stars, but they put the cheese on the outside of my omelet. Omelet fail. The taco omelet was tasty, the eggs nice and fluffy. Hash browns were perfect - crisp on the outside, tender in the middle. Husband had biscuits and gravy, which he said were very good. The biscuits tasted fresh baked. Your basic neighborhood diner. Great food, good service and decent prices.

The key thing you need to know? It's a diner. The heavier and greasier the better. No, you probably won't be blown away with your salad, you might balk at the cup of fruit. But order yourself a nice ground steak and eggs with hash-browns? A pancake bigger than your face? A country fried steak smothered in country gravy? You will so enveloped in comfort food goodness that you will want to lay down and go to sleep. Literally.

If you're looking for classic diner goods then look no further! This is THE place! Way bigger on the inside than it looks from the outside, complete with Lounge (which serves full menu), dining area, and long front counter. I noticed that there were plenty of apparent regulars brunching around us, which is always a good sign to me. Frequently filled coffee cup a definite bonus. Friendly service...bonus plus. I had amazingly delicious Eggs Benedict, and my husband ate a mixture of pretty much everything...including the notorious Bigger-than-your-head Cinnamon rolls. I kid you not. And they are SOOOOOOO good. So good. I can not say this enough. My only downer, and I can't bring myself to dock a star for this, the pancakes were a little lackluster. Not bad at all, just not awesome. Standard pancake. Anywho, if you go on the weekend be prepared to wait. It's worth it. Also, they had some good lookin' pies on display! And they do take-out orders!

Best old fashioned diner in Bellevue to get breakfast with food soo good it can cure hangovers. If you happen to be in the area and have time, be sure to stop by. If your from outside Bellevue, not worth going out of your way.

Meh not much to say, went to breakfast here with my friend before class at BCC. Just your typical diner, options are classic. I had their eggs Benedict nothing amazing just standard. i mean its a classic kind of diner, not going to expect all too much from the food. what rubbed me the wrong way was the staff was rude. the lade who was serving had no customer service and was slow.

This is the place to go for cheap awesome breakfast. It has a great diner feel and the service was really quick...even on a Saturday morning! The food was really good and it got to us fast. The server was really friendly and really tall...I felt like a munchkin...not that he has really anything to do with this review. I can't wait to go back and take my out of town friends there for some great hungover breakfast. ps. the pancakes are ginormous!

Staff is not overly friendly but fully attentive, my favorite kind. Food always comes out fast. Standard diner fare done right and not too greasy. Their cooks can poach an egg like nobodies business so I'm very happy to order Eggs Benny every single time I go here. They are also really nice about "special" orders. They always let my boyfriend order his french dip with a side of bacon INSIDE it without fuss. Prices are fair and they always stockpile copies of the local papers so you don't get bored if your eating companions happen to suck. I love me some Lil' Jons!

Another Yelp find. Came here for breakfast while waiting for Toyota to do an oil change. The food was scrumptious; I ate it up quickly. I chose the chicken fried steak, gravy, eggs, and hashbrowns.

My favorite place to eat breakfast. They perfectly cook the eggs sunnyside up and normally I don't like them that way. Their hot cocoa is the rich kind that you crave on cold mornings and it is topped with a generous heaping of homemade whipped cream that puts the biggest smile on your face. Just thinking of this place makes me feel warm inside. Ahhhhhh...

Awesome place for a down to earth, artery clogging breakfast. If you are worried about your weight or health check it by the door and just enjoy yourself. Gorge on the massive, fluffy, white pancakes or drool over their soft biscuits with the holy white gravy. I don't even regret finishing my plate, screw my diet! I'll just exercise tomorrow.

Great place to go for breakfast or lunch. I like the pancakes, cinnamon rolls, and hashbrowns for breakfast! The french toast is ok, but I like my french toast crispy and made with hearty french bread, not the regular old sliced bread. They have good burgers too, and blackberry shakes! Its a really nice old fashioned diner type of place that has been around for over 40 years!

This place was great! I love a good breakfast place. This place delivered. I really liked the family feeling. I seldom go into a restaurant any more where there are this many young people working. Seemed like high school or maybe college kids. They were working fast and being friendly. There was a bit of a wait to be seated, about 15 minutes. Service was very quick, I'm sure it wasn't more than 10 minutes to get our food. They keep my coffee filled and the food was good. My kid(s) had a half order of French Toast and she thought it was great. I had a basic egg, bacon, hash browns and toast. I actually ended up going two days in a row. (two kids with different schedules and I needed to be fair!) I had the Biscuits and Gravy the next day. Excellent! Not too salty, thank you. Actually too much for me to eat. Same feel and service both days. I have to say, if your a big coffee fan, that is just average. I kind of liked that, I was just coffee..... I'm not sure I would pick this a place to have a leisurely breakfast, I'd feel bad making everyone wait for my table! I will definitely be back.

It's a basic diner. It's been around forever, it seems like, and hasn't really changed that much. The pancakes are decent, the french toast was decent, and the bacon and sausage are decent. The service the last time in was "surly and perfunctory."

I have driven by this place many times before finally stopping with my wife. Since that first visit I have returned about 6 times and have yet to be let down. Breakfasts are absolutely the bomb if you like quality diner fare. This isn't dirty truck stop biscuits and gravy. They churn out surprisingly good looking and good tasting food for decent prices. That wins my vote. The only thing I can find to critique is the amount of frosting they use on the cinnamon rolls. I feel they get a little dry due to their size so a little extra frosting would help get it down, but that's a preference so I'm not holding that against them. Check this place out!

I got the Reuben sandwich with chili. My wife got the BLT sandwich with carrots. We split a cinnamon roll. Pros: - BLT sandwich had good taste and texture. - Cinnamon roll was big and sweet and had lots of icing. - Thousand island dressing on the side for the Reuben. - Prices are reasonable. Cons: - Service was ok but not friendly at all. - Some edges of the cinnamon roll were hard like it had been under a heat lamp and they just put the icing on at the last moment. - My Reuben was too oily and salty. Plus, they had it double-stacked (which I didn't know about until I got it). I did not like the extra piece of bread and I couldn't just remove it (or 1 of the other 2 pieces of bread) because they all had cheese or sauce on them. - Chili tasty like it came from a can. It was very thick and salty. Overall: - I would go back to try other items as it's close to my house. Otherwise, I wouldn't bother.

Lil' Jon's is nearly impeccable. The blackberry shake is indeed delicious. Not too thick, includes lots of real blackberries, fools me a bit into thinking I'm drinking (somewhat) healthy. Having breakfast available anytime from a non-chain is a definite win in my book. Since I like my bacon crisp, LJ's pleased me here. Not only was it crisp, but it was also FLAVORFUL. Easy to neglect that when cooking bacon as hard as I do to in order to get that all-important crisp. My #4 (eggs, bacon, hashbrowns & toast) didn't try to get fancy, and I appreciated that. The service was good, I'd say. The staff was friendly enough and attentive, so I didn't think twice about my 20% tip. My friends and I hit a lunch rush today but we were luckily seated within minutes. This could be a regular spot for me during weekday lunchtimes.

Today I learned by reading my plate and the bill that Lil' Jon's has been owned by the same family since 1967! I hope that this family-owned restaurant keeps on keepin' on because it's one of my favorite greasy spoons. They do hashbrowns right here. Crispy in on the outside and soft in the middle, but never soggy or mushy. My vegetable omelet was perfect and I requested they add cheese which made it even better. The coffee flows generously and the staff is pleasant and efficient. We got our food in under 15 minutes. Considering the food here is "greasy" spoon and this place has been around awhile I was amazed that it didn't seem dirty. Such a great Sunday morning breakfast place.

Was out there for a business trip. Found Lil' Jon's on Yelp. Weekday morning. No wait, ordered and meal was delivered in less than 3 minutes. How the heck did they do that? Great food. Great service. UNBELIEVABLE CINNAMON BUN. I could only eat 3 bites but I had to try it. It is worth it.

Lil' Jon's is classic American diner food. It's a great place for an egg and bacon, with hotcakes on the side breakfast. They don't serve fancy schmancy coffee, just good, fresh drip coffee. This is the kind of place where retiree's meet every Saturday morning for breakfast, its got that kind of homey feel. Breakfast hits the spot and gets you ready for the day.

    (3)
  • Brian C.

Lil' Jon is your typical American diner fare. The full spectrum of greasy breakfast items is on the menu in a variety of economical choices. They also have an assortment of sandwiches, salad and appetizers, but those are fairly bland if not overly salty. Over several visits with friends who are devout regulars, I've eaten a few sandwiches, had a few styles of eggs, and tried their pies, toast and even their famous bacon. I have to say it's all pretty forgettable. It's not bad, but they don't try very hard to separate their menu from what you'll find at IHOP or Denny's for the same price. From the service, environment, and menu, you'll immediately get the impression that you're in for a normal diner experience and in the end... you'll be right.

This family-owned restaurant has been around since 1967 (and looks like it too). Lil' Jon's serves typical American diner food and is definitely one of my fave greasy spoons. As per usual, we were seated very promptly. I had the #1 breakfast which consisted of an egg over medium (they cooked it perfectly), rye toast (soaked in butter), hashbrowns (some of the best to be had - crispy on the outside soft inside) and bacon (crispy delicious bacon). The food arrived quickly which has also been the case the previous times I've gone Coffee - yes please. I never saw the bottom of my coffee cup. Like a champ this place knows how to keep a coffee mug full. Adorning the cigarette-stained yellow walls throughout the restaurant are some very unique golf course and sailing water color prints. Something I don't imagine I'll ever see anywhere else. I'm glad I have only been here pre smoking ban, based on the color of the walls you could probably lick them and get a nicotine fix. PROS: Cheap Friendly quick service Good food CONS: That I don't live closer

  • Julian H.

I have eaten at Lil' Jon many times now and it's main virtue is consistency. The service is always good, and fast. The coffee is not very good but it is refilled frequently. The food is not amazing, but it's good, and the portions are good, and the prices are reasonable. The atmosphere is unrepentant 1970's truck stop diner. A great place for breakfast, if you don't need your diner to feel modern. Although they are very family friendly in the dining room, the bathrooms have no changing tables, not even a counter top.

Diner food, through and through. It was quick, tasty enough but not amazing. I HEAR the cinnamon rolls are SUPERB, but they were out when we got there. We ate an omelet, pancakes (as big as the plate!!! but tasted like a mix, still good though), and a bowl of fruit for the kiddo (being 3, he had demanded breakfast soon after we awoke that morning). Not great, but good. Altogether average, but the 4th star is for not being Denny's (yay! family-owned!!) and for great service. There was some 40-teenage-boy athletic team of some sort being seated when we arrived. The staff looked unfazed, the team all got fed, and we were still seated really quickly. I look forward to another (EARLY) visit for the cinnamon rolls I keep hearing about...

Greasy is right, and in all the right ways. The breakfasts are just the right size, crispy haspbrowns, service is rushed but efficient, and oh, OHHHHH, have you had a butterhorn here? It's everything I remember and more. If this wasn't in Bellevue, I think I'd bump this a star or two, nothing against the Eastside (okay, who am I kidding) but the authentic diner feel is a bit lost amongst the overblown car lot surrounding it and the $100 yoga-panted crowd pushing their way to the front of the wait list.

I have been to this place for breakfast several times and although the breakfast is great the coffee is not so good as a matter of fact I stopped ordering the coffee and I always dine alone and on the check it just has the breakfast amount and when I go up and pay the tab the last 4 or 5 times I have gone there the guy always charges me for coffee even though it is not on the check so instead of a 9.00 dollar charge it is 11.00 bucks and being in a hurry you do not notice until you are back at work he did this this morning and I caught him on it and he goes I will give you two bucks back .I think it is a rip off to charge for coffee you did not order and was not on the check. He does this to unsuspecting customers and most of us do not notice right away. Lil Johns need to stop this practice ..

The food was really good - I got one of their breakfast platters but I have to say that their service is awful. When I walked in with a friend, the host seemed like he didn't want to seat us. He glanced at us and went back to whatever he was doing with a whiteboard. I had to ask to be seated. When we were finally seated, the waiters seemed pretty cool at first. I asked for a straw with my water, because I personally don't feel comfortable drinking straight from the cup at public places and he said "seriously? For what?" As if it were the weirdest thing he's ever heard and in a rude manner. First off, I work at restaurants too. I know that you're not supposed to question a customer's request for ANYTHING unless it's to clarify what they had just asked for. In fact, I don't think you're supposed to be doing that in any type of customer service work. After he brought the food, we didn't get any service after that, except to refill our waters ONCE. All of the waiters just walked past our table and talked to the other tables. It wasn't even that busy. It just seemed like they didn't want to serve our table. For what reason, I really don't know. They seemed more than happy to help us when we paid though. The check was never brought to us - we had to walk to the cash register and they didn't even notice until I said something. For all they care, I could have just walked out without paying. After asking to pay, they were suspiciously nice. I go to BC, which is pretty close to this place. When I want breakfast food, I am tempted to come here again but because of the horrible service I experienced, I think I'll just stick to iHop or something. Their food is mediocre but at least they have thoughtful and nice staff, unlike Lil Jon's.

Oh c'mon then, Lil' Jon is a Bellevue breakfast staple! It's American food at its, er, finest... packed with butter and grease and cheese and freedom. That's right, there's freedom in those fried eggs. Yep the staff is indifferent, sure the food is basic, but if you're trying to find an American diner -- and not in the ironic 'ohhh, I'm such a hip diner, look at me, look at me,' sense, then Lil' Jon is your best bet. *Here's a tip -- the bar (yes, I know) has full service. Skip the Sunday morning wait, hunker up next to the fireplace and make a real morning out of it!

This is a go-to place for great diner type food. They have lots of choices for breakfast through dinner. Breakfast items are great! Omelette was good, as were pancakes and cinnamon rolls. FYI cinnamon rolls and pancakes are ENORMOUS! Chicken Fried Steak is awesome! Also great, their chili and their onion rings. Good meatloaf, too! I'll definitely be coming back for great diner food at a good price.

We used to go here more often when we lived just up the hill. I told the Mrs. that I wanted to go for breakfast at Lil Johns. Nothing's changed, except the coffee has really gone downhill. It used to be fairly decent coffee, nothing to write home about, but drinkable just the same. Now it is a very sorry excuse for coffee. Years ago I used to live on a houseboat and one of my neighbors used to make the weakest coffee ever. He lived on the edge, financially speaking, and his coffee suffered because of it. The coffee at Lil Johns reminds me of my old friendly neighbor. Nice enough guy who doesn't know or care about decent coffee. The wife says if we ever come back again, we ask for hot water. I agree. The breakfast was fine, but the coffee is not.

This place is much better than iHops or Denny's. Coworkers andI come here often for lunch, and we've never had a bad meal here. The strong points are definately anything breakfast related - eggs, country fried steak, omlets, etc. The sandwiches are pretty good too, and very fairly priced ($7, 8ish). The burgers are bland, and I would recommend going elsewhere for burgers.

Once again ... Meh. The service was not good, and the food was not great. It's only two virtues are that it serves breakfast food, a rare quality in Bellevue for some bizzare reason, and that the prices are reasonable. I had two eggs with bacon, hashbrowns, and toast. Bacon was good, bread was fine, though way more butter than was necessary, hashbrowns were eh, and eggs were runny. I also had the most blah piece of lemon merinque pie. Getting service was hard work. Our waitress clearly thought that talking with her friends was a better way to spend her time than even once coming back to check on us. No, that's ok miss, i don't need more napkins, more water, a new utensil, any other food. You just have yourself a nice chat. I do not expect miracles from diners. Decent food, decent prices, decent waitstaff is all enough to make me happy. But from these other reviews you would think this place is an oasis. Just cause you want a place to be good, doesn't mean it is.

Been going here for almost 10 years, and this place definitely has better food than the Denny's and IHOP's of the world. Sure it's not the cleanest, most inviting place to visit, but you definitely get that old, neighborhood diner feel when you're here. Many of the same faces have been around since I started dining here and you can't beat that kind of consistency. The pancakes are fluffy and HUGE! Bacon is as premium as it gets. Thick cut, and the best there is. Hash browns are usually perfectly cooked. If you like beef, the Yankee Dip w/ cheese is amazing. Like a French Dip, but with a burger instead of roast beef. Where else can you order a Becky's breakfast, and actually have BECKY serve it to you!!

The cinnamon roll was out of this world. Like almost as large as your head and enough to put you into a sugar coma, but in the best way possible. In terms of service, decor and overall atmosphere, it is just like what I would think of when I think of a stereotypical diner. There was a slight wait (20 or so minutes) when we arrived, but they were very prompt in moving through the wait list. I got the special that included french toast, an egg and bacon. The french toast was slightly disappointing considering how epic the cinnamon roll was (normal bread, nothing special), but it was a good breakfast nonetheless. At the very least, get yourself an ooey gooey cinnamon roll and a cup of coffee in a vintage looking heavy duty brown mug. There is no shortage of coffee refills at Lil Jon!

Been a regular for a year now. Their cinnamon rolls are more like a biscuit dough, but huge and yummy. Biscuits and gravy : I've had much better gravy, but the biscuits are great. Hash browns : un seasoned Pancakes: large and good. Great place to take anyone. My kids love it and so do we.

I too fell victim to over exaggerating post about how "great" this place was. We walked in and not a hello or a smile. Looked at us and kept working, finally were seated and were "tossed" our menus.... we didn't see a waiter for about another 10 minutes. The waiter not a hello or anything just a what would you like. The food came quickly, I ordered the biscuits and gravy with eggs and hashbrown. ....eh mediocre not too flavorful food. Not a SINGLE time did we see our waiter after he brought our food. The crappy service was not worth the food and the mediocre food was not worth the crappy service. The exaggerated reviews are from people who obviously are not well traveled or try outside the box because as far as we are concerned lil' jon can keep all there stuff in the frozen box it comes in! NEVER AGAIN.

June, 2013: CLOSED temporarily due to a fire. Their phone message says hopefully re-opening in Mid-November (or maybe December), 2013 due to the slowness of getting permits from the City of Bellevue. I miss them! They are currenty repairing and renovating from the fire damage.

So sad to know they are closed.. I go out for breakfast oh... maybe once a month. Friend took me there & it is hands down the BEST breakfast place, food is simple, tasty, doesnt taste highly processed. getting coffee refils can be slow when they are really busy. They are so nice. I will travel to go there for breakfast its that good. So looking forward to your reopening.

This as good as it gets for a back to the 80's, in middle America type establishment. The waitress reminded me of my Aunt Evelyn in the South, and Aunt Evelyn was visited all the time by people from hours away, just for her hospitality. The waitress was sweet, soft spoken and funny. It had been recommended to us from a waitress from The Mustard Seed, based on the ranch dressing alone! We just couldn't remember what had been recommended, lol. She stood there patiently and tried to go down the list with us as we guessed. We gave up and decided to order. Liver & Onions, two cheeseburgers and pancakes, with a side salad thrown in there at the very last second. The salad came and as the entire table dug in, it hit us as to why we were there. We got more salads and couldn't believe how much it tasted like my grandfather's recipe. Then the food came, and even the potatoes that came with the liver and onions tasted like my grandfathers instant Idaho potatoes. They probably are instant Idaho brand, but I don't know for sure. It is all the kind of food that is literally pulled from the Midwest. The pancakes came and not only were they delicious, but they are the size of your head! I could only eat a quarter of a two stack because the salad was just to good to pass up. I wonder if I could go up there with a mason jar and ask if they could fill it up for the price of a few salads, if they would? Lol, don't get me wrong, this place is good, but for what it is. It's not gourmet and given one or two more signature items as big as your head, it could very well be featured on Diners, Drive Ins and Dives! Happy eating :)

Thought the food was great, especially for the price, and there were a good amount of menu items. Most meals are between $6 and $10, and the cinnamon rolls are more than enough for 4 people! Definitely get there before 10am on a Sunday otherwise plan on waiting. A must try for breakfast on the Eastside.

Came with the kiddo while waiting for the car to get fixed. Place was packed for a Saturday morning, but the wait wasn't too long as they turn the tables fast. Food was your typical diner, but plentiful. Kiddo enjoyed the French toast and I had a good omelet. Lots of families. We don't eat out much for breakfast, but we'd go here again vs IHOP or Dennys

Say "WHAT??", say "YEAH!" Lil' Jon's in the house! Show your grillz. Ok, so I can't rap, but I CAN eat! This place is really awesome. $3.50 for a salad w/ home-made croutons that's soft and crunchy at the same time. WHAT? $2.95 for a bowl of creamy turkey corn soup. Turkey was grilled inhouse and sliced fresh... YEAH! Good food for real low prices.

Victim of Yelp Rating inflation. The food is okay, but does not live up to the hype. The wait time on a Saturday morning was terrible, only to find an average to good breakfast, but certainly not the slice of heaven other reviewers imply. The touted cinnamon rolls were "sold out" even though we were seated by 10am. If you can't serve it, you don't deserve the reputation.

Your classic FAT BREAKFAST HOUSE!!! (and more but I ONLY AND ALWAYS get their breakfast items). This place has been a must go to for me and my friends since highschool. Now that we have graduated from colleges and our lives have lead us seperate paths, we pretty much go here at least once every time everyone is back home (for the holidays, or breaks or w/e). Pancake = bomb AND FREAKING HUGE. chicken fried steak = bomb eggs benedict = bomb scrambles = good (but a little too boring for my taste, however still tasty) omelettes = great bacon and sausages = bomb toast = bomb hashbrowns = bomb SERVICE IS GREAT =)

First time back since they re-opened. I had been a customer since 1983. Waitress lacked basic social skills, I spent over five minutes waving an empty coffee cup while she did sidework; she brought the food, forgetting the sugar free syrup for the diabetic in our party, then virtually threw the syrup at the table. My steak, which I ordered RARE was quite well done, with only the slightest hint of pink at one end, however, being aware that the waitress was far too absorbed in her sidework to bother with customers, there was no point in risking sending it back. She never checked on the table until more than ten minutes after the food was dropped off, and threw a temper tantrum when I told her the steak was overcooked - actually poking the piece of meat on my fork with her finger - then getting mad that I didn't "wave her over"; slamming her hand down on our table, grabbing the ticket and yelling "FINE! I'LL TAKE IT OFF!" and scribbling all over the ticket. I would highly recommend NOT having the small, dark girl as your waitress if you choose to risk this place for a meal. I used to love this place, but this was one of the worst experiences I have had in ANY restaurant!

This is one of those whole in the walls that you would pass up BUT DONT. The breakfast they have is great. This is a grease spoon and is fantastic if you are looking for a good Hardy breakfast. I have never ate lunch or dinner there just breakfast. Our friends and us meet there often on the weekend for breakfast. You might see us there.

Since 1967, been serving classy eats at inexpensive dollas. Their restaurant is clean and service was stellar. I definately recommend this place. I saw old, young, fat and skinny people in there. SO this place is not like the typical Bellevue restaurant, its casual and easily accessable in Eastgate.Enjoy!

The hubby and I were running around and dropped in for a much needed bite to eat. We love breakfast and are happy when places offer it all day. We both ordered the chicken fried steak breakfast and a cup of coffee. The coffee was that great delicious diner coffee that I love when eating out. The coffee was kept happily full :) Then came the food! MmmmMmmMmm, it was good. It wasn't anything fancy, just a nice comforting plate of goodness. The CFS was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, the eggs were cooked perfectly and buttery and the hashbrowns crisp and tender. The best part..our toast was properly buttered! I know that sounds silly, but all too often elsewhere, I get my toast and wish that there was just a touch more butter as though the person had both a light hand and was scared to venture too close to the edge. The food came out nice and hot and very quick. Many times, we have gone to Denny's or Sharis, but this will definitely be our new spot. The price was right and maybe next time, I can try one of their infamous cinnamon rolls. We had arrived too late in the day to get one.

We go here after we've done a great work out (that's part of the reason we run, bike, swim, or water ski!) I started going here when I was in High School, 12 + years ago, my mother went when she was in high school, and my grandparents remember this place opening in the 50's or was it 60's, when Lake Hill's was just being developed. My grandmother went a couple of years ago and said that this place hasn't changed for a bit! Heck, some of the wait staff are still the same. If you're looking for a great greasy spoon, that makes fantastic hash browns (the only way you can make hash browns like they do is by having a griddle that is well seasoned by use,) french toast, eggs any way you want them and pancakes that fill the whole plate, this is your place. If you're looking for a sit down, quiet restaurant with wait staff only servicing one or two tables, this ain't it! Ohh, one thing apparently has changed, back in the day they used to have lil' TVs at each booth, my grandparents and their kids would go and watch whatever the favorite TV show of the day was. I guess the original TV Dinner! or is that diner?

I used to eat at this place often, a while back. The night staff were amazing, and the food they prepared was great. The -2 stars comes from when I went in for breakfast with my husband one day. The waitress (some overweight, aging woman) was surly and unpleasant. She left our foot sitting in the expo window for long periods of time and we had to practically fight with her to even get our silverware. No refills, food was served cold, and the hubby's order was even wrong, which the woman argued that the food was what he had ordered. After complaining to the owners, I found out from someone working in the lounge side that the woman I was complaining about was the owner's sister. Never went back in for breakfast after that. Only stuck with dinner. Sadly, was also the first and only time in the Seattle area I've ever had to stiff a server on their tip.

Tried to come here for brunch this past Saturday. We walked in, stood by the Please Wait To Be Seated sign. Oh, there's a list? Thanks, random regular patron! It sure would've been nice if the cashier we'd been standing in front of for several minutes had mentioned that... We were a party of two, were the only people waiting when we first got there, no fewer than six staff milling around, there were seven empty tables (five of them clean) spread across multiple sections, and they didn't seat a single person in the 10 minutes we waited. That's not busy, that's mismanaged. And worse-than-Denny's-on-New-Year's levels of customer service. If you can't be bothered to make eye contact, I can't be bothered to give you my money.

ive heard lil jons was super good so i finally tried it out my self.. and uhhh yeah it was not as good as i thought. People are hyping this place up wayy too muuchhhhh! service was poor... and the food was similar to any other american diner. i dont mind coming here once in awhile but i would never wait in line for an hour just to eat here.

Best described as blue-collar. Breakfast and lunch food are American basics. Food quality is adequate. However, staff is indifferent and the restaurant has a grimy look, feel and smell to it. I won't eat here again.

Love it love it love it! I've been coming here for years and will continue to do so as well. The wait staff are uber friendly, food is great (nothing "special", just down-home comfort food like Mama tried to make) and there is plenty of it! Another benefit: food is fast! Why didn't I give it 5 stars? The coffee is not that good and if you go any time around 8am to 10am be ready to wait, and wait, and wait. The restaurant is not that big so it cannot hold tons of people. It's good that the food comes out quickly, but you almost feel bad wanting to sit around and chat, especially seeing people wait for a table to open up. Still, the food is fantastic. Don't make the same mistake my brother in law made when he ordered the cinnamon roll as an appetizer. BIG mistake. Literally. This thing is HUGE!

A pretty good breakfast spot. As simple as it is, I oftentimes rate breakfast/diners according to their Steak and Eggs. The first time I went here, it was fantastic, appropriately seasoned, and cooked to my request (medium rare). The 3 or more times I've ordered it since, it has not lived up to my expectations at all, and I grudgingly subjected my steak to Heinz 57. Other than the steak, very standard breakfast place that is consistent. Eggs are fine, bacon is very good, but definitely get their house/white toast.

    (3)
  • Andrew S.

I had the #1 breakfast. The egg, bacon and toast were excellent. Sadly, the hash browns were a mess... overly crisp on the outside, mushy and stale tasting on the inside. The coffee, traditional Farmer's Brothers fare, just barely drinkable. Good thing there is plenty of mini moos on the table!

I really WANT to like this restaurant and have given it multiple chances, but they just haven't come through, so I give up. I was looking for classic, old-school diner food, and when I lived in Eastgate, this would have been nirvana if it was good. Before the no-smoking law, they had a lounge that allowed smoking and that was always so full of smoke that it spilled over into the non-smoking restaurant area... which was disgustingly cigarette-smelling already, from many years of people being allowed to smoke in the entire place. The booths' vinyl seats emit a puff of stale cigarette air when you sit down, and your clothes smell like those of a smoker when you leave. After the no-smoking law, it's not much different. Almost forty years' of cigarette smoke have soaked into every surface in the place, so there's no fresh smoke hanging in the air, but six months after the law went into effect, the stench is still in the room. All of this, as you can gather, eclipses the food completely for me. However, the food's not incredible either. Standards are acceptably produced but I've had better eggs, pancakes, grilled cheese, burgers, and chicken fingers elsewhere. The open-face turkey sandwich was a better choice but I want that maybe twice a year, and usually make it myself after Thanksgiving :-) The coffee is swill. The service has been good every time; middle-aged ladies who know exactly what they're doing take care of you efficiently and with a smile... another reason I'm bummed that the place is so smelly. If you like greasy-spoon food and don't care about cigarette smoke, the prices are good and the people are friendly, so this might be your place.

My husband and I used yelp when selecting this place and were very disappointed. The food was bland, ordered breakfast food. Waited 10 minutes for water after the 3 parties around were seated after us and they got their water and coffee. The waiter forgot my coffee, I then asked someone else and they forgot as well but still charged us for it. I would have preferred fast food breakfast.

I wanted to like this more. When I read "greasy spoon," I really was thinking that something magical happened -- Beth's or the Hurricane's Eastside equivalent. This is not a greasy spoon, this is homogenized -- it's basically a non-chain Shari's/Denny's. And I don't think that's a bad thing, it's just not what I hoped for. I came in by myself wanting Eggs Benedict, something that for some reason is only offered on holidays and weekends at many breakfast joints. I was seated and presented with my juice/water very quickly. My food came out within 5 minutes. My hashbrowns were perfectly prepared and not greasy -- an awesome surprise. But I wasn't there to fill my stomach with tubers, it was to fill it with Hollandaise, dammit! On that note, the Hollandaise was good, the eggs and the English muffin were just the way I like them. Ham, though? Not so much. I love Canadian bacon, and ham... is a sad substitute. This could have been four stars simply for the ever-presence of Benedict. Service was prompt with no pleasantries or conversation besides, "do you know what you'd like?" and "are you still doing okay?" -- which is honestly all that is necessary. I'm sure most solo-diners are there with a purpose and appreciate lack of talking, but I'm just there to get out of the house so a friendly server who chats me up a bit is a plus and subsequently gets a better tip. Paid $15 and change for a plate of Benedict and an apple juice, including the $3 tip. Not too bad, but I'd rather go to the Pancake House in Kirkland for the amount of time I spent on the bus, even if it means eating alone I end up paying $20. If this were a weekend or holiday, that's probably what I would have done. I'll still be back, because I want to take my boyfriend so I can finagle a bite of his cinnamon roll out of him. And I never get tired of Hollandaise.

The breakfast was good for the price. Homemade cinnamon roll hit the spot. I went at 6am was had to wait for the cinnamon rolls to come out of the oven =). Next time I will try the fresh Biscuits. Bacon was big and hash browns were cooked well. Great old fashion Diner with a few morning regulars.

  • Chris C.

My only real complaint is that the menu is not very big. What they have (typical American breakfast fare) is very good. I wish they would offer a few more items, like crepes and such. The staff is usually fantastic; friendly, fast, fun, flirty...you know, all the F's. ;) You get the feel that most people you see there are "regulars" which gives it a "homey" feel. It's kind of like Cheers....a place where everybody knows your name. Yes, as one reviewer mentioned, it's a little blue collar, but isn't that how most good breakfast rags are? I'm not usually looking for black tie service when I go for breakfast. I want a friendly smile and good coffee. :)

I came in here twice last week..once to grab a beer and play some tabs while waiting for my oil to get changed, and then again with my husband and his parents for dinner the next day. This is a charming diner that has been around since 1967, in the middle of car lots, and you can easily see why it has survived. It is one of the only few classic diners I have been to in seattle (that isn't a dennys). It's my "Eastside" version of the 5 point..less gritty and punk rock, but classic greasy spoon diner food. The waitstaff and bartenders were super sweet. The food and milkshake was excellent, and I felt like I was in a tarantino flick. Now that I am older I don't need booze and late night food so I don't mind that they aren't 24 hours, but they do open at 7am for breakfast, and I will be pestering my husband to take me back to the place his mom said he loved going to when he was a kid!!

Yum yum yum! Go here on an empty stomach because there's nothing "Lil" about this place! I met a friend here for breakfast for the first time last weekend, and it was really busy! We were seated quickly, and right away our waitress came over to take our order! I ended up getting pancakes and a side of bacon - I should've ordered ONE pancake and split the bacon with my friend... again - huge portions! The pancakes were the size of the plate, and a side of bacon had 4 thick pieces on it. I plowed through it as best I could - every bite just as yummy as the last! I will be returning here for sure!

I was there at 8 in the morning on a Friday, and there was immediate seating. On a Saturday morning around 9, the place is packed. I didn't eat there when it was packed, because I didn't have the time to wait that day. Upon entering the door, you're greeted by the "Please Wait to Be Seated" sign, as everybody is busying walking around waiting on tables, and whatnot. My party of three stood there for about a minute while watching waiters rush around, passing us by as if we were supposed to seat ourselves. It wasn't until a waiter heard us discussing whether we were supposed to seat ourselves or not that he came over asking us how many were in our party. This place is quite obviously catered to the faithful locals. Don't expect Daniel's Broilers type of service; it's a diner after all. There was no apology from the young guy who showed us to our table for giving a party of three adults TWO menus, but the error was fixed immediately after my request. Our waitress was very nice, and friendly. Our food came within 15 minutes. I ordered #2, which included two eggs cooked anyway you like it, hash browns, and two pieces of toast with butter. The toast was excellent! The bread was soft, and toasted perfectly. It was drenched with butter, but that's the way I like it, so--excellent! lol. My sunnyside up eggs were cooked perfectly, with most of the whites cooked, and the yolk still raw for dipping. The hash browns were not burnt, which was a plus; it was only cooked on one side, and then flipped onto the plate with the crispy cooked side facing up. However, it had a very strong taste of some sort, which I couldn't figure out what it was that made it so addicting, until I realized at the very end that it was oil. Oh well, too late to be healthy now! (Later, I finished my dad's hash too!) lol I also tried a sausage from my dad's plate, and it was good. My sister had the eggs benedict, and she said it was really good as well. The orange juice had a bitter taste to it, but after eating all that "healthy" food, I just had to finish the healthy OJ! Overall, the food was good, the waiting staff was friendly, and the food came quickly! It's definitely a better choice than Denny's where the waiters/waitresses have crappy attitudes. One thing I'd like to mention is that the staff and customers are mostly Cauasians; there were two which appeared to be Hispanics on the kitchen staff though. The staff was friendly and treated us normal, but some locals appeared to think we were a sight to see. It just goes to show that we need to diversify this place! I dine at restaurants twice before making my final decision on the place, so I'll be coming back in the future.

Went here for Sunday breakfast (around noon) with a few friends and was blown away. No line, good food - I had the biscuits and gravy, which was nothing outrageous but definitely above average - good coffee, friendly staff and quick service. Also relatively cheap. Along with my meal I had coffee and a shot of Bailey's from the bar (best hangover cure) and my bill was only about $15 including tax.

You might get diner service (I find the servers and staff to be nice and fast...on their game for sure) and you might have to wait for a seat but the food is freaking awesome and I've never had a bad experience after going here dozens of times. Anyone getting their VW or Toyota serviced should definitely spend the wait time in here! Ive had lots of stuff from their menu...mainly the sandwiches though. I love the fries and their italian dressing (get it on the side though or you'll get italian dressing with a side of lettuce..oh and the croutons are kinda gross, i either pick them off or ask for none- fried bread. yuk). Besides the yucky croutons the only item Ive found a little gross but have fixed a bit by asking for lighter or no butter application is their grilled breads. It just is too much grease otherwise.Try the salt and pepper wings-yum! Breakfast is really, really good. Great prices- excellent homestyle food- consistent, friendly and quick service.

Four stars for a place that is what it is: a diner. A greasy spoon. A truck stop off a busy highway, flanked by auto dealerships. The coffee is really ass, but it's got caffeine, and that's often all you really need, isn't it? Doesn't smell of smoke, either, although the carpet is pretty worn and those booths are probably at retirement age. Early on a Saturday morning (before 10:00), the place was full, but there wasn't a wait. Kids who'd stayed up all night after prom had stopped in for breakfast. The servers all seemed to be college-age guys and gals who were efficient, if not the friendliest crew. The food was decent, nothing to write home about or crave, but again, it is what it is. It's not a nationwide chain, it's a local business that's survived for forty years. That's worth a visit!

I have passed this place by so many times but last week while waiting for my oil change at the Subaru dealer, we decided to have lunch here. It's like stepping back 30 years, good ol fashion greasy spoon, reminds me of the one in my MN home town of 450 people! I had the grilled cheese, my husband had the turkey club and fries - really good food for a pretty good price - you don't have to pay $10 for a grilled cheese, this one was $4.95. The service was good, and it was pretty quick. We will go back

a diner! in Bellevue! omg! a place that serves breakfast food, in bellevue! omg! and my wallet still has its contents!!!! The food was very good. It is what you expect from a place like that. Fast service, greasy, fattening, have to go run at the gym for 2 hours now food. MMMmmmm. I can't get over the fact they have a full breakfast menu (sans Belgium waffles).... there are so few places existent in the city of bellevue... Decent pricing, fast service, yummy food, it would be better if I didn't have to wait to get a seat..... :)

very nice and cozy. love their eggs benedicts!!!

  • GE A.

I can only give it 4 stars because we only get the eggs benedict dish here and can't comment on anything else. But they are awesome! Although in fairness, we did try their pancakes once which were also pretty good since they're not the bisquick style ones that sit in your stomach for 3 hours afterward. These are light, fluffy and literally, the same size as the breakfast plate. Although if Lil Jon's does use Bisquick in their pancake mix, then another kudo to them for doing it right. Overall, a nice, homey diner experience with decent coffee and a friendly staff. Good simple yet solid food that gets you going. The owners have been doing this for a long time and they certainly have got it down straight. Remember, this is a diner - not high class cuisine. This means you get in and out with the guarantee of a stomach nicely filled with typical comfort food. End of story. However, here's a tip reflecting on an earlier comment regarding service: we usually sit at the counter which cuts down on slow service because our faces are right there. While there are some sharp wait staff here, the majority are young and can be scatterbrained at times which means your food sits while they yak and flirt with each other. (Eating from the counter vantage point reveals these things). Food sitting is not good where eggs are concerned. Getting there is a little different since a car dealership is built around the diner. Rather odd but do take it all in stride as you drive past the latest Volkswagen model. You might even see something you like.

Very blah. They serve breakfast with lots of eggs, potatoes, pancakes, ham and bacon, but it's a throwback to 50's hash house style. The coffee is very poor and out of sync with Seattle tastes: weak but plentiful. The prices weren't cheap either. But it is a breakfast restaurant in Bellevue which is rare enough.

So we came back this past weekend with my brother and his gf. And we came early enough to snag a cinnamon roll and chicken fried steak. The cinnamon roll is huge. We shared it with everyone at the table and it was just the right size. My only wish is that it would have been warmed up a little to soft it up. The edges were just a bit too crunchy for me but still very delicious. The CFS was yummy... my little guy agreed as he nibbled on my meal while chowing down his. Side note - I asked for my hash browns to be extra crispy and I have to say, next time I will have to request it super duper extra crispy. (it wasn't very crispy but not as soggy as last time when I didn't request anything at all.) The hubby tried the eggs bene and was a bit disappointed the sauce wasn't quite hollandaise. I didn't try it since I was concentrating on my meal so I will take his word on it. It's a solid breakfast place with plenty of options. Wonder what I will try next time?

The breakfast is good and there's usually seats always available in the bar. Good service, the waitstaff remembers you if you come in often. Easy location off the freeway. Good prices, I come here often when I'm in town.

I've only eaten breakfast here, but its the only diner on the eastside that I've been to that's worth going back. Large portions of down home comfort food, served fast, at a decent price. Their cinnamon rolls rock, but you have to get their early as they run out. Their biscuits are perfect. Pancakes are huge and fluffy. Service is always great, although generally there's always a line. Well worth the wait though.

  • Marshall B.

Greasy, delicious diner food. The prices are good, the service is adequate. Think of a truck stop diner and then get rid of the trucks. The name is funny too. The place has been around a long time, but i bet they got an increase in business due to a rapper of the same name :)

Lil Jon's!!! Although Lil Jons is out of the way for me and my roommate, we still find ourselves going there on the weekends for breakfast and a bloody Mary. Doesn't matter what time we get there, this place is always busy and there is always a line, unless you are able to find seating in the bar (which I would suggest). This place has a great cheap breakfast and the best pickled flavored beans in their bloody Marys! If you are expecting or looking for something fancy, then I would not suggest Lil Jons. Little Jons sorta has the feel of a small truckers diner (but in a good way).

It's a small diner. We came on a Sunday and the wait was around 10 minutes. We came once before for dinner and I would not come back for dinner but for breakfast? Yes! Smoke? I loathe cigarettes and this being my second time here, I would have never thought the place would reek of cigarettes as another Yelper noted. It's adequate breakfast for what it's worth. I got the 1.2.3. plate. A plate size pancake, 3 strips of bacon, and 2 eggs. I'm a pancake freak! I ate the whole thing. Fluffy, light, a bit crispy on the outside yet fluffy and just a bit moist on the inside. Coffee was ok. ---NEW--- THE BEST DARN CINNAMON ROLL EVAH! OMG. HUGE. HUMUNGOUS. CRISPY ON THE OUTSIDE, SOFT ON THE INSIDE. THE BESTEST BUTTERY ICING ON THE PLANET. IT'S SOOOO GOOD, EVERYONE NEEDS TO KNOW ABOUT IT.

  • Angie J.

This place is always busy, the service is ok but that's because it's really busy. What it's got going for it is the staff really like it there, the patrons are in a good mood and as another yelper noted - the cinnamon rolls are soo good it's unbelievable. But get there early bc when they're gone, they're gone.

I can't even believe the first reviewer's comments. I don't live in Seattle anymore. We moved to NYC, but I really miss Lil Jon's. This is a classic diner. If you are looking for upscale cuisine, don't go here. If you are looking for the best in American comfort food, you MUST come here. Bellevue is short on good places to eat breakfast. My wife and I loved to head to Lil Jon's on a Sunday morning. Despite the artery clogging characteristics, my favorite dish was the biscuits and gravy! I could have eaten this every day for breakfast. You have to get there before 10AM on a Sunday or the biscuits are gone. They are made fresh every day. Great pancakes. Great scrambled eggs with cheese and ham. Try the cinnamon roll, drenched in white frosting and freshly baked. I seriously can't believe anyone would give this place 2 stars. Drive by this place on a Saturday or Sunday morning. It is completely packed. The staff isn't indifferent, they are busy. If you go there often enough (as we did), the staff even knows your name and memorizes your order. The only thing I didn't like was walking by the bar area and smelling the giant smoke cloud pouring out. Everything else was fun, tasty, and a great weekend breakfast bargain.

I would give zero stars if I could. I used to eat here often years ago but this place has definitely gone downhill. It is obvious that there is no care or thought put into the food they serve. My husband ordered an omelet. He thought something was wrong with the texture of the omelet. When he looked more closely, there was wax paper between his omelet and the cheese. He found out because he ended up eating some of it!!!! Of course that totally ruined our appetite. When we told the waiter, it was obvious that he didn't care. It seemed like stuff like this must happen so often that they are desensitized to these sorts of problems. My order had all of the food sloppily thrown on my plate in one messy pile. I had to ask for another plate just to separate out the mess. The plate I was handed was dirty. It was clearly encrusted with food and it was very obvious since it was smack in the middle of the plate and the size of a quarter. When I pointed this out, the watress said, "Oh can't believe I didn't notice this, it's very obvious"!!! This place is dirty and way overpriced for what you get. We will never be going back there again.

Well, well well...I love LJ's. I grew up on the 123 breakfast. The service is quick, food is hot and the place is always hopping. They have the best bacon around and the pancake is the size of the plate so you won't leave hungry.

When you first come into Lil Jons you will usually find the place busy. This is because of the food not the staff. The staff that great you appear to hate their job and have the personality of the walking dead. I have been there dozens of times and not once has a staff person said welcome to lil Jons. In fact they say nothing and you follow them to the table and the last time the waiter threw our menus on t h e table dropped a couple glasses of water and ran away not saying a word. After 15 minutes our under joyed waitress in a low drepessed voice asked quickly what do you want very sternly. Then ran away. When she dropped off our meal she over filled my coffee cup and spilled coffe on our table and did not apologize nor did she clean it up so we ate breakfasf with cofee all over the table. We never saw her again until we were done. The food is great however the staff all need therapy.

A true breakfast snob! I hardly ever go out for breakfast because I hate to be disappointed. I ordered chicken fried steak at Lil Johns and was super impressed. The quality of the food is great and the service that we received was awesome. If you want a hardy good old fashioned breakfast, this is the place to go!

Pretty ordinary, but ordinary is good. Just not great. We were looking for a simple Americana type place. We've been here for breakfast many times, never been here for lunch or dinner. I had a green salad and that's about it. Lettuce, carrots, purple cabbage, a few croutons, and a watered down ranch dressing. I also ordered a ground sirloin Yankee Dip. Slightly above average, still it was good. I ate the whole thing so it couldn't be that bad!. Husband had a chili burger with cheese & fries. He ate most of it. We shared a coconut creme pie. Not even close to the Tom Douglas version, but we ate it all so it had to be at least okay. Ordinary, but good and I'm sticking to that!

A good place to go for breakfast. Standard American breakfast entrees made well, with good service. It's really popular now, so it'll probably be packed when you get there. They're pretty efficient though, so you won't have to wait too long; just make sure you put your name on the clipboard. I usually get one of their 3 specials, the country fried steak, eggs benedict, or biscuits and gravy.

It barely made a 3 star. I ordered an omelette that comes with hash brown. The hash brown was not even warm, maybe we went in too late in the day. The omelette was bland too. Total bill was 32 for the two of us, so I wouldn't say it's a one $ place.

I have grown up going here for breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner more than any other restaurant. The food is what you would typically expect from a diner. Perhaps greasy at times, but always comforting, and the all-day breakfast options are all amazing (especially their GINORMOUS cinnamon rolls). Their soups are always delicious, and I also love their sandwiches and chicken strips. Service is always friendly and welcoming, and even on busy Sunday mornings the wait is never TOO long. They accommodate big groups well, even though they don't take reservations. I am a die hard fan and Li'l Jon's will always be my go-to.

Have been to Lil' Jon for weekend breakfast/brunch for a few times since it re-opened. Judging by a typical long wait line if you were to arrive later than 10am on a weekend, this place remains popular and still has a lot of loyal customers. I typically get biscuits and gravy (which comes with 2 biscuits, gravy, 2-3 links of sausages and 2 eggs your way) and am usually stuffed by the time I'm done with it. Once, we tried their signature cinnamon roll, too, and...oh, boy...it's huge!!! Their cinnamon rolls is homemade and is large. Not only that, they serve it with very generous portion of frosting. If you are going to order one, promise yourself to be good to yourself...and order one to share it with other people at your table! You definitely don't want to clot your arteries eating all of that yourself! The price is good. It's affordable and not too expensive (the breakfast is around $6-$11 depending on what you get), and best, you never have to fight for an empty parking spot around this place! P.S: they also have a small bar behind a restaurant, too. We stopped by around 9am to get a certificate and they seem to have a good crowd even at an early hour already.

Came here at night after Stancewars for something quick to eat as I'm not from the area and didn't see anywhere else that wasn't fast food. Let's just say I actually wished I would've gotten fast food instead. While looking at the menu, I realized there were a lot of things that had American cheese on it, which really turned me off. We then ordered a couple double cheeseburgers and I got the teriyaki chicken burger. My burger was a decent piece of chicken with just a canned pineapple ring, shredded lettuce, and some store-bought teriyaki sauce. The burger was really salty and I was just not impressed. The fries were standard fries, not super good, but I liked them better than the burger. Then I tried a few bites of my brother's double cheeseburger which looked like frozen burger patties with some American (AKA Kraft Singles) cheese on it. It didn't taste enjoyable at all, and tasted like the burger was rather dried out or something. I was honestly annoyed that we had even eaten here and joked about "Dine & Dashing." I might come here for a cinnamon roll but other than that, nah. Lil Jon would be disappointed in this place!

This is from someone who has lived on the Eastside for many years. There are hardly any places to go and have greasy spoon breakfast! That's the main reason why I like Lil John's. The food is much better than Denny's and the menu has many options on it. We have ordered more obscure items before and have never been disappointed. (Grilled chicken, salads, and things like that) They wouldn't have been open since the 60's if they were so bad. When it gets busy on the weekends sit in the bar if you can. They serve their full menu in there and you can always get a seat. Plus no screaming children :)

Although the waitress told me that her children do 5k's after I informed her I was training for one, she soon felt sorry for me when I refused to order any food. I instead decided to only have tea... Green tea. She politely asked me if I would I would like lemon with my tea, I responded with a stern "whatever!". This is when I fully understood the quality of lil Jon and its staff. Little Jon's has the best lemon I have ever put in my mouth. The acidity was point on. The tartness crosses over the pallet with a supple amount of enthusiasm that is unmatched. There was some other things on the table that didn't belong to me, but its like whateves. There was the perfect amount of paper towel that was dispensed in the bathroom as well. I could sufficiently dry my hands without wiping the rest on my pants. This was an amazing experience and I will come back, because the waitress puts her boobs on my head when she refills the coffee's.

Came in for a late breakfast and really had a nice time. Not too crowded and very friendly wait staff. I had the Bisects an Gravy and it was great. The wifey had standard Bacon an Eggs, was good. The coffee is very good and the cup never sat empty. Will return.

My review is closer to 3.5 stars but a good breakfast option in the Eastgate area (much nicer than the nearby Chace's Pancake Corral on Bellevue Way). The inside seems to have been recently renovated and it feels a bit like an upscale IHOP with better food. The omelettes and pancakes have ample portions and the service was friendly.

I have been coming here as long as I can remember, probably the better part of 20 years now with my family and friends. I can always count on this place to put me in a good mood. The food is homey. It's definitely soul food. Large helpings and friendly service are a staple at Lil Jon's. 80% of the time I see someone I know here. It's a wonderful neighborhood spot and I am so happy that they are back and stronger than ever after the fire. Thanks Lil Jon's!

Stopped in for breakfast Sunday morning, long line to get our name on the list. After 20 minutes I walked up to check our status and our name was scratched off, they had called our name but because we were outside waiting with 30 other people, they don't bother to call your name where everyone is actually waiting. There is not room to wait in the foyer. Ended up being a 40 minute standing session. Food was ok, server wasn't too attentive he was way too busy which I understand for a Father's Day. My last straw was being charged 1 dollar for bbq sauce with my fries. I don't mind paying the dollar but mention it before hand, I hate hidden fees when I get the bill, nobody should charge for condiments.

My 2 stars is for the people, they were all really nice. sadly the food needs some work. I had lunch so maybe I should have had breakfast instead. My bun for my chicken sandwich was hard. the french dip was dry and so salty, couldn't finish it. the fries must have sat too long, it was not crispy and I think it was double fried? anyway too bad. I do love a good diner.

A great down to earth diner, with decent Americana food. This place is like walking into the past, when times where "simpler" and food was tasty and always served with a smile. If you like nostalgic decor, with basic seating booths, and having breakfast meals at all times of the day , this place might suit you. The quantity of food is plentiful, and reasonably price served hot...enjoy

This is my most favorite go-to American breakfast dining in both Seattle-Bellevue area. Might not be a popular and fancy as other famous breakfast places in Seattle but this place is always busy and packed and the food is GREAT. Their breakfast combo (6 varieties of plates), eggs Benedict, Becky's breakfast (French toast), fried chicken steak always satisfy my big appetite. They also have a lite breakfast plate, too and more and more options for sandwiches and dinner meal. A dollar brew coffee and hot chocolate is also a must. It is family owned restaurant, they once had to close due to remodel after the fire incident. I'm so grad they are back again!!

Good Food, great friendly service, and the prices are fair ~ certainly not more than the average price other places charge. The portions are huge! Family owned and operated ~ generations of families have worked there forever! Several employees started working at LJs as teenagers, and are now still there into middle age. A suggestion for the cinnamon rolls, since they run out early, is to call and order 1 or more to go. Then you'll have it when you walk in for breakfast. A wonderful and warm family diner type place ~ like going back home to Mom's kitchen before granite, hardwoods, and stainless. This is why I give it 5 stars.

5 STARS for the Cinnamon Rolls and Bacon!!! They alone are worth 6 stars! My Dad is a regular, has been going here for 20 years! Service is what you expect from a place where most of the people in there eat there 3 or 4 times a week. If they know you, great. Otherwise service is friendly but these folks are busy keeping the regulars happy (and I am cool with that). Most of the food is a B / B+, BUT the homemade CINNAMON ROLLS are truly the best I have ever eatin, and I have had many! In fact, when I go, give me the rolls, their fantastic thick bacon and some cold milk. They make only so many rolls and will run out, usually by 8:30 or 9:00, so get there early. Ever in Redmond, Bellevue, or Issaquah, come by this place!

It is slim pickings if you are looking for a breakfast spot in Bellevue. Just a handful of them. One of the most notable places is Lil' Jon in Eastgate. It is right off I-90 making it a perfect stopping point for a real meal. I was driving my sister and her fiance over to see Snoqualmie Falls, but we decided to stop off at Lil' Jon to get some brunch before we made the drive there. The restaurant is a mainstay in Bellevue and has been open since 1967. Though they did have to shutdown recently due to a fire. I did not visit the restaurant prior to the fire, but the dining room is retro classic, but not tired looking. Left side of the restaurant are filled with booths and tables. Whereas if you are looking for a seat at the counter, you will find them on your right. The fare here is your typical diner food with a lengthy breakfast menu alongside sandwiches, soups and traditional American dishes. When it comes to diner breakfast items, my go to dish is the chicken fried steak with gravy ($10.95) which was my choice here. It came with hash browns and a choice of two eggs and toast. The chicken fried steak tasted how I imagined it would. The gravy was good, but I have had better. It has got a nice creaminess to it. The eggs over easy were how I liked it with the egg sauce dripping when you poke into it. I did also like that they offer rye toast as an option here. The breakfast fare is solid and so was the service despite it being busy. Based on the crowds here and staying power that Lil' Jon has maintained over the years, Bellevue agrees as well. If you are looking for a convenient breakfast spot in Bellevue, Lil' Jon is that place.

Five stars because sometimes the people make the place and deserve the recognition. Last night we rolled in after winning a league tennis match just as the restaurant kitchen was closing down at 10 p.m. -- which we already were prepared so we continued to the great little Lil' Jon lounge where the waitress/bartender welcomed us warmly, got us pitchers in minutes, and even went back and found us plates of bacon and a delicious bowl of garlic mashed potatoes which now has become a favorite bar food. She went above and beyond what she needed for us and for her alone I would come back. However, I also know the breakfast and biscuit and gravy is beckoning me so it will not be long before I hop the bridge from Seattle for a Lil Jon brunch soon.

The service is amazing and very welcoming. When you walk in you get the feeling of being in a Waffle House that's been renovated to make it much larger. I didn't drink but they do have a bar. THIS IS A BREAKFAST PLACE!!!!! We made the mistake of coming in at the end of dinner time. The mashed potatoes are definitely homemade but I am not sure about everything else that is served with dinner. I gave a 3 star because next time I come back it will be at breakfast. Afterwards I will update this review, take more pics and reevaluate my Yelp! review score respectively.

Typical diner food, but on the bland side. I ordered biscuits and gravy - the biscuits were fine, but the gravy was completely flavorless. The hash browns, while crispy, were again, very bland and needed a lot of salt & pepper. My dining partner had the same experience with his chicken fried steak. Portion was huge and service was incredibly fast. No wait on Sunday at 10am.

Their pancake is soft and chewy so it won't fall apart easily and when you have it with their special butter which is going to make you feel like in the heaven! Nice place to have a brunch w your family or girls talk!

I was so disappointed in this place. I've gone to the college five minutes away from here for two years, and have always been curious about this little diner. I finally got the chance to go with my cousin today and that'll probably be the last time I go. It was a Sunday, so it was super packed. Not really a big deal. Our server is what set the disappointing mood right off the bat. He called our name and once we stood up, he just smirked and turned away. Didn't even wait for us to follow. We sat down and he just left. He came back and asked about drinks, which came pretty quick. I was pretty happy with how quick our food came as well. When our waiter brought our food to the table, he literally almost dropped it down on the table, kind of loudly, and he literally said, "Here you go," and then walked away. Nothing else. I ordered the country fried steak, and was pretty happy with the portion size. It's massive! I couldn't eat it all, no matter how hard I tried. The eggs were super good, and LOTS of cheese. Normally when I ask to have my eggs scrambled with cheese, I get like a baby scoop. They sure didn't skimp out on me though. The hash browns weren't that crunchy and didn't have enough salt... It was sad. They're normally my favorite part about breakfast dishes. The country fried steak was okay. The gravy tasted heavily of flour. Like, really heavily. I wish it was seasoned more or something, because it was just meat covered in flour basically. Our server came back around and dropped the check on the table, but didn't say anything else. We stayed for quite a while to talk, and I'm glad the guy didn't try to hurry us out of there. I also find it pretty funny that the only time he smiled at us was when he saw we were paying and it was time to leave a tip. Ha. Yeah right, bud. We won't be back but I'm glad I tried it finally.

Yum! If you want a good home style breakfast with in Bellevue, definitely check out Lil' Jon. 1. Great service. Friendly and quick, even on a busy weekend morning. 2. Great food! Delicious hash browns, fluffy eggs, and the biggest, softest, fluffiest pancakes I've had in the PNW. 3. Nice vibe. If you're going for a comfy, locally-owned diner feel, this is your spot. 4. Reasonable pricing. A standard breakfast dish runs from $6 to $10, but the serving sizes are huge and the quality of the ingredients is very good. I've always had at least one day of leftovers. Definitely worthy of a 5 star rating.

The Hamburger steak was very good and so was the Chicken Fried steak. The place gets packed and probably was the reason the servers kept on coming back asking if it's ok to get our plates even though we still had food left. Felt like we were being rushed to clear the table. Too bad, wanted to have a pleasant time having my breakfast with my children.

Super fast and friendly service. I had an omelet, which was pretty standard. The hashbrowns were good, and tasted fresh, which doesn't happen everywhere. It's pretty dodgy looking, but seemed clean. Don't come for the ambiance.

FOOD: Food is average. I've only had the breakfast items. (Chicken Fried Steak, omelets, pancakes and biscuit and gravy) Nothing to brag about. Pricy for the size of the meal. Maybe if it was spectacular but not worth it. SERVICE: Meh. Hit and miss. Some are very friendly and some are snotty. Don't be giving me an attitude! How unfriendly. PRESENTATION: It's nice of them to split the dish if you are sharing =) LOCATION: Easy to find. Nested between a car dealership and a strip mall as well as a Dairy Queen. Lots of parking. Would I come back? Maybe, it's conveniently close. SIDENOTE: I wanted a cinnamon roll... But they're always out. So I called in and they said they still have them available SO I headed there RIGHT AWAY... I was minutes away and as soon as I sat down they said they were out?? WHAT!?! Lady on the phone, if you're about to run out TELL ME!! What a disappointment.

One of the best breakfasts I've had in a restaurant. I was worried they'd serve too much food but it was exactly how much I was craving. The food tasted fresh.

Perfect zero-frills greasy spoon diner. Kinda reminds me of Lil Dizzy's in New Orleans!

The portions are big and the service was nice and fast but the quality is blech. It's a bunch of pasty big white flour food. It will still be sitting in your stomach hours later and not in a good way. :(

Lil Jon's is your typical all-American diner. The ambiance is similar to an IHOP or Shari's but the food is much better! But what makes this place so special??? The people! Both the other guests and the waitstaff. My friend, Emily, and I stopped in during a break between our classes and had a pleasant surprise. I ordered a massive all-meat omelette and Emily and I shared 1 ginormous pancake! The pancake was light, fluffy, and buttery while my omelette was hearty and jam-packed with 4 different types of meat. I'd say it was better than the 12-egg omelette I got at Beth' once.... Our server, bless her soul, was this sweet, older woman who was very attentive, prompt, and cheerful. Makes your dining experience so much better when your server is so happy! ^^ So upon asking for our check, our server told us that the elderly couple sitting next to us had already paid for our bill!! The thing is, I don't recall seeing an elderly couple next to us, just a couple of businessmen and an older trio. We were so shocked and blessed and wanted to pay it forward. We couldn't figure out who so we asked the server to pick anyone of her choosing, and we left $30 to cover their tab. Don't know why the elderly couple was so generous to us but it sure made my first time at Lil Jon's unforgettable! On a side note: the name of this place....pretty epic! *YEAAAAYA*

This place is hopping. They take Visa, Mastercard and AmEx. The inside is very retro but not dingy or out of sorts. We ordered the green eggs &ham (and bacon) as well as the #4 (eggs, hasbrowns, meat and toast). We also ordered the banana cream pie. To which my husband liked a lot. Everything was great and the bacon was tasty!!

I decided to finally check this place out since I've moved to Bellevue and I'm real glad I did! I can tell ya now that from the outside it doesn't look too promising so I wasn't too sure how great it would be. Once you come in, if there's a wait, you'll have to put your name down on a wait list. There was about 2-3 larger parties ahead of us and we waited about 10-15 minutes which we didn't mind at all. I loved the old school diner feel to the restaurant, it was welcoming and homey. The service was quick and the servers were all friendly, but not so much the bussers. I ordered the eggs Benedict and my sister ordered the biscuits and gravy. We also shared the biggest pancake of our lives. The portions were generous and the pricing was reasonable. Safe to say, we were full and satisfied! I'm not gonna say the food was fancy shmancy breakfast of the Gods, but it was great quality and delish! I would definitely come here again!

Stopped in for a quick breakfast while in the area. Although it was a busy Saturday our party was seated quickly. This place looks a lot smaller than it really is. This place has the look and feel of an old fashioned diner. Our server was pleasant and knowledgable about the menu. I had the ham and cheese omelette and was happy with the amount served. I would come back if I was in the area and in the mood for a greasy breakfast fest!

If a bland greasy spoon is your thing, then this will be good. It's not mine. The French toast was limp and bland, the country fried steak was beef, and the hash browns were soaked in butter. The service was good to very good, but very little can make up for a meal in which the best thing I can say is that they didn't need those up.

  • Selena P.

I got all appetizers chicken taquitos, garlic bread, and onion rings. Enough for two! Comes out to about $15. I was stupendisly hungry and as I was eating the taquitos and getting filled I realized they weren't as good as it was in the beginning..haha basically an equivalent to dennys not a bad place to come to but I wouldn't call it the best. Service was good, was acknowledged at the very beginning and server came back to check on us at perfect times.

Checked out this restaurant while we were having the car serviced at Toyota at the recommendation of a family friend. This place is awesome for anyone who enjoys a small family owned and operated diner. The food was great, the atmosphere was homey and it was all together a very enjoyable experience. I had the chicken fried steak with toast - great choice for breakfast. My partner had the eggs, hash brown, sausage and huge pancake which was more than enough for one person. Portions were very generous and food was absolutely delicious. Staff were very friendly and tended to customers very quickly and the food was priced decently. A definite must visit the next time we're in Bellevue!

Great local place for greasy breakfast. I had the chicken fried steak and my husband ordered an egg dish. Both were good. Service was pretty quick. Next time, we definitely have to try the cinnamon roll. They were huge and every other table had one!

Reviews are spot on. Good reliable diner fare. Nothing fancy. It is what it is. French Toast breakfast ... 4 half slices in what seems like a standard egg batter ... cooked until golden brown .... dusted with powder sugar ... 1 egg ... I chose Over medium ... and 2 slices of bacon Grilled cod ... 3 beaded filets .... a pile of thick golden fries ... tartar sauce ... Bloody Mary ... same average as food Has that family owned corner diner feel so better than a chain like Dennys.

Friendly staff. There was a barcode sticker in my boyfriend's food and when we pointed it out they were super sorry but I feel like something like his always happens when I eat here. I've held out hope for a long time that Lil' Jon's would finally come through and be the neighborhood breakfast place that's worth the wait in line but it just isn't. Their food is not bad but it's not really that good either. Like I said in my previous review, this place is where you go when you need to slam down some breakfast but definitely not somewhere to visit when you're trying to have a good meal.

There is a mom and pops feel to this restaurant. I like the hours, it's particularly open all day. Well, 5am-10pm, but still great place to be at 8 in the morning where nothing is open yet after an orthodontist appointment. Location is somewhat hidden in the Eastgate area of Bellevue, but it isn't too difficult to find. I haven't try everything on the menu, just the breakfast portion and I must say, for the price, it's better than going to Denny's or Ihop or any chain. You just get more for the price, higher quality tasting food.

  • Jean S.

For an early morning breakfast joint, this is not a bad place. I wouldn't say anything exceeded my expectations, though. Their service is quick and servings are generous. The coffee is pretty good, too. The famous cinnamon roll was huge, and although it was tasty, it was extremely oily - it got disturbing as our meal progressed and the fat solidified before our eyes. I asked for my eggs benedict with bacon rather than Canadian bacon, and I asked for bacon well done. This is literally the first time in my life I have regretted ordering my bacon extra crispy - it was tough and hard to chew. I also regretted ordering my hash browns extra crispy... although nice and crunchy, it tasted like burnt oil. I'll definitely be back, but I will know not to order my food extra crispy here.

This was a great breakfast beginning with the super fantastic greeting by Felicia. My hubby loves to indulge in the occasional "breakfast feast", which was in full-force today. He sampled everything! Don't forget to try the bacon if you are a bacon lover. I even enjoyed the fabulous cinnamon roll. If you're out to indulge, this is the place! And say "hi" to Felicia!

The fare is classic American diner from the 1950's. The Cinnamon Buns are legendary. My personal favorite is the Green Eggs and Ham. Parking is currently difficult with the construction.

Breakfast was tasty...until I bit in to eggshells. Twice! :( I did enjoy my eggs benedict with tomatoes, the hollandaise was portioned perfectly with the entree. Quite a few of my friends love this place, so I will give it one more try.

  • Julie H.

Very big portions! I was starving this morning and got the biscuits and gravy meal but could not finish it. The pancakes are huge so I would get just one. It's big enough to share! The food is great, nice price, and it's a quaint little place to eat. The only reason why it's a 4 not a 5 is because the waiters just looked like they didn't want to be there and they kept trying to take our order right after seating us. I would appreciate a few minutes to take a look at the menu. I realize it's a busy time of the day and these particular people may not be there everyday so it's a 4, not a 3, but not quite a 5.

  • Song K.

I'm a fan! I just enjoy the old American diners and not many of them have survived throughout the changing years. Keep in mind that this place is old! But they keep it up pretty good for its age! Love the breakfast foods all day. I did try their lunch menu without satisfaction so I think I'll stick to their breakfast foods going forward. Still a fan! The variety of foods you can order is amazing for a classic diner. Why not? Make things available a la carte when you have all the goods anyway? yes! I love making my own meal, thank you! Pancakes with everything? sure! The staff has always been friendly so far and it feels like some have been there a while (if not related). Nothing to write home about but not as bad as I have read on here. With the rise of fancy hybrid fusion like foods popping up, get back to down home cooking and visit a diner.

My brother and I took our mom here for Mother's Day lunch. Lil' Jon's has been a fixture of Eastgate for my whole life. Unfortunately, the food is decidedly average, though my view may be slightly colored by my general lack of interest in breakfast food. If you feel a diner should be judged by its breakfast rather its lunch offerings, this is not the review for you. My mom got the teriyaki chicken burger, a weird choice admittedly. She liked it, but she's a notoriously easy grader. I got the turkey club sandwich with a salad. It was solid, with salty bacon and fresh veggies. My brother got the chicken fried steak which I tried, again solid but unremarkable. They had sold out of their famously huge cinnamon rolls already, so I didn't get to try one. Bummer. All in all, this is the sort of place you go if you want decent diner food. You won't be blown away, but you won't be disappointed either.

I was craving eggs benedict and gave them a shot. It was probably the worst attempt I've ever tried. Bad ham, packaged Hollindaise sauce (which they smothered it with) and undercooked poached eggs.. maybe they do other things ok, but if are unwilling, or unable to do a dish right than best leave it alone.

Oh my. I should have listened to the person who Yelped that a cinnamon roll feeds 4 to 6 people. That's not hyperbole. It's also delicious. You need to try one of these. Lil Jon is a legit throwback. It's been remodeled to be fresh & clean while still keeping the 1960's architecture intact. The food is excellent. The service is friendly. Turn down for what?

We'll probably be back at some point, but I need to let the "sting" of our last visit wear off a bit before doing so. Came here twice. First visit went well. Extensive menu--we ordered the veggie omelet, biscuits and gravy, and one of the massive cinnamon rolls to go. Attentive friendly service from our server (dark haired younger guy). Second time, our waitress (middle aged lady) gave me some SERIOUS stink eye when I asked for a Reuben sandwich with toasted bread. It was jarring...to the point where I was wondering what on earth I'd said that was so rude? She looked full on PISSED while she was writing down the order. I'm by no means an unfriendly, conceited, or condescending person--if anything, I take great pains to make requests politely and deferentially. All we could figure was that perhaps she was having a bad day--at least until we saw her go to one of her other tables nearby, and laugh and make small talk with their large group--even when they had MULTIPLE special requests to their orders too. When the food finally did arrive, it was good (hubby got veggie omelet again). The server seemed to have calmed down somewhat--we got a half smile when she dropped off the check at the end (maybe remembering that a TIP was in play). Argh--I was happy to have found another weekend breakfast option, but was not happy with the attitude I found at Lil' Jon.

Decent greasy spoon diner in Eastgate serving breakfast all day. The menu is not extensive but includes all of the usual suspects; omelettes, pancakes, french toast, chicken fried steak, eggs Benedict, biscuits and gravy. I ordered the taco omelette which comes with guacamole, sour cream, and salsa on the side. I was happy of this fact, as I do not eat sour cream and neglected to ask that it not be included. The salsa tastes similar to sauce that comes in a jar, not my favorite. The omelette itself was ok, the ground beef reminded me of fast food taco filling. The hashbrowns were on the greasy side, hot sauce on the table added some good flavor. Again, all typical diner fare. We ate in the lounge which is child free and had sports playing on the mounted televisions. The lounge was pretty busy, but still did not have a wait the entire time we were there. I look forward to visiting again and trying the biscuits and gravy and the cinnamon roll, both house made, therefore there is a limited supply.

Best and biggest cinnamon rolls around. Gone by 9am. Other than that, this restaurant is more about the feel than it is about the food. It is a classic local favorite for breakfast, with a loyal clientele. The waitresses are mostly middle aged and you can't help but wonder if they have been working there since they got the job in high school. So in that sense it is very literally a family run business. Prices aren't competitive and their menu is rather boring, as is the atmosphere of the restaurant. It isn't a place to do much more than eat, pay the bill, and be on your way. Parking is fine, with a private lot.

Good was actually really good. And be prepared for tons of it. Also get the cinnamon roll, but split it. It's enough for 4 people! Ashley our waitress was amazing and made breakfast an experience.

The food is great and the portions are too. That being said.. When i went less than 30 mins ago i encountered the rudest cashier and food laced with styrofoam. I ordered to go and a purple haired caucasian girl was at the register and there were 4 boxes of to go orders. I waited til she acknowledged me and when I said I was here for a pickup she said just told me "wait" and attended to 6 other customers and a second man who came in AFTER me to pick up some orders. I realize it was busy and there were a line of people wanting to pay for their meal but here's the problem... Other customers have already dined, my food on the other hand is sitting on the counter getting cold. she went through not 1 or 2 but 6 other customers before instantly attending to someone picking up their order who came in after me without asking him to wait. I won't say I believe it was based on the fact he was white and I was a minority because I'd rather not believe that was the case. I finally got my food after a second employee came to the register and I asked her to take care of it for me. After that the purple hair girl just looked over and could not care less I was still waiting as she turned her back. I live 5 mins away and my food was completely cold The worst part of it all.. There were 3 boxes of food and the one that contained my food was chipping off yellowed styrofoam into my food. And no it was not microwaved, it's how it came. I wish I could post a picture of it on this review. Completely ridiculous service I wish I knew about the food before I left in a hurry then I could have talked to the manager

Come back in a time machine with me to the 1960's and you'll probably see that Lil' Jon Restaurant teleported itself from that era to today. This is a no frills, straight forward diner with good portion sizes and friendly waiters. The location is a bit difficult to find if you're not sure what you're looking for. The restaurant is in the Toyota dealership complex on the other side of the parking lot. The weekends are crazy busy and you can always see a line forming during morning rush. You definitely should expect to wait at least 20 minutes (if not longer) for a table. I've been here several times during the morning weekends, and it's been the case for the other occassions, too. I typically order the eggs benedict, and if I'm craving something sweet, the homemade cinnamon bun to go - the cinnamon bun is HUGE and you can smell it in the air, enticing you to make it a carb-filled day. The poached eggs for my benedict are typically cooked well and match the thick hollandaise on top of it. The hashbrowns are always plentiful, though the potatoes don't seem to get as crispy as I would like them to be. Overall, I give Lil' Jon's a 3.5 star rating. There are other breakfast/brunch places that are nicer, but it feels like a family-owned/ neighborhood restaurant that I would come back to support.

Its hard to find a legitimately priced breakfasy spot on the east side of quality. Ive been coming here 20+ years. Lil jons has always been my default ( unless it's Sunday). not a bad spot for a quick beer! Dishes of choice: chicken fried steak, taco omlete.... bloody mary. Well I am done with my poop and I am off to lil jons! Bloody Mary/jane to fix this current hang over and chicken fried steak over easy eggs with english muffin to sop up

This place is one of the best mom and pop diners in town! I love getting their #2 special with two eggs an option of sausage links or bacon and hash browns! To go along with two slices of bread! So yummy! And if you're looking for pancakes bigger than the size of your face, they've got em! Definitely come here for breakfast!!!

This a proper diner. They serve hamburgers during breakfast and have by far the biggest cinnamon roll I have ever seen. Get one and share! Great service and happy staff. Kept coffee and water full, gave us lots of attention. You will leave full and happy.

I really don't know how anyone could give this place less than a full rating. They have amazing food, friendly staff, and a cinnamon roll the size of your head. I'm leaving the state tomorrow and had to come here one last time!

A homey and unpretentious little place. Located next to a car dealership in a suburban strip mall, Lil Jon's is not an obvious choice for happy hour. However, given its proximity to Bellevue College (and the dearth of options in Eastgate), it's a favorite spot for some faculty and staff to gather after work. The upside is, it's a totally decent place to hang out. I've yet to try the restaurant or breakfast fare, but the little bar next to the restaurant has a great happy hour with a decent selection of reasonably priced beers and yummy bar food.

A down to earth regular place with a pleasant staff and good plentiful eats. Had breakfast here before the Sea Hawks game. Tried the biscuits and gravy and country fried steak. Both were very good with large portions and a fair price. Took a look at the sweet rolls and they were huge. We had great, fast service at the breakfast bar and they had a great Bloody Mary. Came back after the game for dinner. Fantastic!

Was there today service has gone done hill hard to get a water refill restaurant is clean food comes out fast I would only recommend this place in the early morning not in the evening. The bar tender is fair not its the same service you would get at a RedRobin or better yet on a airplane in coach, This place is a hit or miss at night kinda like throwing Craps breakfast during the week is generally very good and hot and fresh. Weekends are a big crapshoot long lines to get in and depending on the time of day it could be awesome or could be like red Robin. It's definitely not Disney World service

It just so happened I was getting my car serviced at the Toyota dealership next door and was looking for a place to eat lunch when I walked by Lil' Jon. It looked like a great place to try because it was packed and there were people waiting to be seated. Since I was a party of one I was able to sit at the counter like those in an old fashion cafe. I ordered my favorite breakfast, Chicken Fried Steak with eggs and it was excellent. One of the best I have had. Despite how busy it was my food came out in less than five minutes. That's crazy fast!

    (5)
  • Jen C.

Still a great diner. Is it super loud and always busy? Yes. Is all of their food pretty standard American diner fare? Also yes. But they do what they do consistently well, and their prices are super fair. So they will continue to have my vote! Literally just about everything on the menu is good, and the menu is pretty large so you can try something new each time. Quick and efficient service meets good prices. Perfect duo. It's busy here for a reason!

    (4)
  • Kittylove R.

Its your standard breakfast fare - greasy eggs, cold pancakes, substandard coffee. Nothing to write home about. Its the only place in the vicinity so plan to be waiting for a long while to eat high calorie, artery clogging breakfasts. Service - ladies that really dont aspire to customer service. Here is your plate, with an eye-roll. Need anything else? whatever! be back to drop your check off when I feel like it. Sigh. Why did you choose this job? Food does come out relatively quick but otherwise its not more than a Denny's or IHOP - at least there the waitress are a bit more nice and attentive!
