The price is right at this place but don't expect the world's greatest cuisine. As a longtime fan of giant burritos I thought I would give the super duper carne asada burrito a shot. 3 large tortillas and 3 strips of cheese go into a steamer , thy come out and get loaded with lots of beans and rice, then a conservative amount of precooked steak is chopped up then added to the mix, topped off with guac , sour cream, and sauce to make up this gastronic gutbuster. The lack of a larger amount of steak lead to a large mouthfuls of beans and rice without much flavor despite the having them put their spiciest of sauces on it. They could easily elevate the level of the food by ditching the long strips of cheese and go for the shredded variety as it would allow there to be cheese in more than 1/8th the area of the burrito and by cooking the steak when you order it, by the time the meat made it to my burrito it started to dry out and had no heat at all.

BEWARE! if you order the big one, it'll be a BIG ONE! two huge tortillas combine forces to make a burrito larger than most infant hippopotamuses. i had a regular burrito. it somewhat lacked flavor, but then again this san diego boy eating a washington burrito will always be biased. the owner guy really rubbed me the wrong way. when my cousin asked to buy some of the tortillas (cause they make some in house?) he gave her a rough time about how they are $4.00 a bag. he must have repeated it 5 times. we know! we are willing to put up the big $4 smackers for the package of tortillas! weird. $0.50 charge for each jalapeno was just too much. i'll most likely never return.

This place came highly recommended by a friend. My husband and I gave it a try today. We were warned that it is considered a "dive" and my first thought after looking at the location on the map was that it couldn't be so bad with a downtown Bellevue location. Wrong. Dive is one thing, this place looked filthy. I tried to look past the cluster of a mess where they have the sauces stored in bottles, napkins, silverware and straws. There was a huge jug of water sitting there for anyone wanting a drink?? and a tub that I couldn't tell if it was trash or recyclable. The high chairs looked atrocious. They were filthy and broken. The tables all were a wobbly mess, like you were trying to balance your meal on a teeter totter. I still wanted the food to be so amazing that I could get past the appearance of everything around me. My husband loved his food and he thought my burrito (desayuno) was delicious as well. I only thought my food was ok. I probably will never go back. I might have been able to really give the food a fair review if I didn't have to step foot in this place. I couldn't get past the surroundings therefore making me über skeptical and critical of the food. I wish I could have loved this place like everyone else. The filthy, unorganized appearance of everything was too much of a distraction for me.

DO NOT GO. It is a rip off and the food is gross and there are flies everywhere inside. Long story short, I went to Casa D's after a long day out because I was too lazy to go get food. BAD DECISION on my part because I didn't know that this food experience was going to be horrible. I must admit that San Diego has spoiled me to the point where I expect great burritos. This place made burritos are Taco Bell sound good! The gentleman who prepared my burrito indicated that a super burrito was about the length of his palm (I think, his English was poor). However, it was much larger and I felt ripped off for being conned into buying the larger size. I would have been okay with buying more burrito (it was only a 3 dollar difference) if it was good but it was so revolting that when I left the leftovers in my apartment, I had to throw it away immediately because the smell was so pungent and gross. I love burritos but this experience will have me sticking clear of mexican food for a while. :( Also, when I went to get salsa for my burrito and (stale) chips, there were 4 flies next to the salsa containers. I've been to my share of burrito places and some of the best places had flies... this is not one of those places. This place is just gross. End of the story is: DONT GO. WORST FOOD EVER.

I can't say this is the best quality food/ burito that I've ever had, but it gets the job done if you're really hungry. The size of the burrito is ginormous. The food comes out pretty quickly, and the include chips, and an apple. This is a typical hole in the wall. Worth checking out at least once to see a burrito the size of a baby.

I ate here only once when i passed by it after school. And I REGRET it. Yes. I should've came here more often. I moved from southern california, hung out with a bunch of mexicans (i'm taiwanese) and their moms who lets me eat there almost daily...Anyways, i haven't had really good mexican food ever since. But oh my gosh I love Casa D's! I even called my friend and told her that I finally feel like i'm back at her place, eating her mom's carne asada. The price is really good for that filling burrito. The service was friendly and casual. I'll try to go there again!

Like others have said, this place used to be WAY better... Years ago I was in this place 2-3 times a week. Unfortunately the prices have gone way up, the amount of meat they put in has gone way down, as well as the lack of flavor that seems to be prevalent in everything at this point. It's too bad, they used to be awesome, I give them 2 stars based on nostalgia only.

Ordered: Carnitas Burrito on flour tortilla (lunch) I'm gonna rate this 3.6...so I'll round it up to 4 stars. I've passed by this place soo many times in the last 2 weeks since moving to Bellevue (Container Store to apartment...back to Container Store, repeat). It looked like quite the hole in the wall so I just knew I had to try it... Could it be worse than Taco Town? :) (+)'s = I love how they took out a chunk of carnitas and chopped it up with two massive cleavers. plenty of salsa, sauces, cilantro, onions, and lime! (-)'s = cheese was kinda weak. looked like they placed two strips of skinny flat cheese on it. rice was quite bland. Overall it's a good deal...the burrito's are big (more filing than Chipotle), but it's also slightly more expensive (~$9 vs $6 Chipotle). However, they do give you a side of chips to go with your burrito. My stomach was happy and I'm sure it will ask me to bring him back in the near future.

While not terrible, I'm not exactly looking forward to going back. Next time I want a brick to hit my stomach, I'll go across the street to Mediterranean Kitchen. Chipotle has better carnitas.

Used to be a 6 star establishment! On a good day this is the best burrito you ever had. Unfortunately the good days are few and far between here. The prices continue to rise and the portions continue to get smaller. This place made its name on large portions and spicy flavors, but now the portions are a fraction of what made them famous and the flavor is anything but consistent. I used to eat here weekly, but since most of the long time employees have moved on I only eat here a few times a year. Gone are the lines out the door and the one of a kind burritos, now it's just another burrito shack in the sea of Mexican restaurants.

Pretty good chicken burrito, got the smaller size and it was still very large. I'd rate them better than a Qdoba burrito, but not as good as a Baja Fresh Diablo burrito. The hot sauce was very hot but I promised myself I wasn't going to cry.

I used to eat there all the time when I worked in downtown Bellevue. It's been a while since I've been back so I guess I need to try it again soon. So far, reading the reviews, it doesn't sound that great. I used to like thier burritos. They were HUGE. And thier Spicy sauce was always EXTRA SPICY, so I could only handle a little. I always got the food to go because I never liked the atmosphere of the place and also so that I could eat at the Starbucks and have a drink.

Forget Chipotle. Casa D's reputation is so great that someone I knew once mentioned "eating at a burrito place in Bellevue" to a Mexican classmate in Tacoma and he said "oh, Casa D's! I love that place." What follows is a recipe for success at the place for Mission-style burritos on the Eastside: Size: - Standard (~$7, 1 tortilla): For the merely hungry. - Super (~$9, 2 tortillas): For those who need leftovers. - Super Duper (~$12, 3 tortillas): Aspirants to the World's Largest Man. Meat: - Carnitas: It's not the standard preparation, but it starts out as real tenderloin and is grilled and marinated in beer and spices - no Grade D "meat" like Taco Bell. - Chorizo: Spicy pork sausage. Consider mixing half and half with the carnitas, an employee-approved favorite. - Picadillo: Shredded beef, a close second if lifestyle prohibits pork. - Carne Asada: It is hard to go wrong with steak. - Pollo: Unremarkable. - Fish: Equally unremarkable. - Veggie: Only if lifestyle choices prohibit all of the above. Mandatory Ingredients: - Rice - Black beans - Pico de gallo - Cilantro - Lime - Onions - "Green sauce" - Salsa (go for at least medium, mild is *very* mild) - House-made habanero paste (if you like hot food, go for 4 or 5 stars) Also available: - Sour cream - Guacamole ($0.85 extra) Includes: - Chips fried on the premises (add some Tapatio, available on the tables) - Apple Time of day: Evenings. The owner works daytime hours, and he suffers from an acute case of SBS. (Small Burrito Syndrome)

My husband worked in Bellevue for several years. He's commuting to Seattle now, but he's still talking about Casa D's and their burritos. I stopped in today with a friend for lunch. Chipotle is still my Mexican-fast-food Nirvana, but Casa D's did not disappoint. I asked for the egg, chorizo. cheese burrito, but ended up with some interesting hybrid instead. Let's just say there was a language barrier. Despite my incorrect order, the burrito was delicious, and a regular is so much food I brought half of it home. My lunch companion had taco soup, which she loved. The parking situation is a bit dicey. Be careful where you park, or you WILL get towed. The restaurant isn't posh. The rest of the patrons didn't seem to care. I saw no evidence of flies, non-sanitary conditions, etcetera. Despite the language problem, the two women working behind the counter were friendly and courteous. We saw a large line form to order lunch by the time we left. I'll be visiting Casa D's again.

2.5 Stars I feel terrible giving Casa D's Taqueria such a low grade but I would never go back. I'd like to support a small local business but I'd take Chipotle or even Qdoba over this any day. Lo siento!! I ordered a chicken burrito and asked for it spicy. The nice young man working the line let me taste their hot sauce to make sure it wasn't too spicy. I like it picante, proceed. In spite of the hot sauce and different kinds of veges, my burrito was bland and beige. Not the fiesta of flavor and color I was expecting. Yes it was big and filling and served with a smile, but I was jealous of the falafel my BF got at the Mediterranean place next door. Even the chips thrown in (for free?) weren't that good. I noticed you can get an apple as a side item in a combo meal. Random, but I applaud the healthy option. That's about it though. The restaurant seemed a little dirty/dingy, which I wouldn't mind if the food was good. There is outside seating, at least when weather permits. Washington has a pretty poor reputation when it comes to Mexican food and unfortunately Casa D's does nothing to improve the situation. Que lastima!

One of a kind honest tasty and hugest burritos in Bellevue. Try a super burrito with chile verde on pork extra cilantro lime raw onion. Their hot is Extremely hot, comparable to padang food on west coast of sumatra. Anyway that's a serious meal. Music is eclectic and can be excellent depending on who is serving.

Was passing by over the weekend and noticed the homemade Tamale's sign. Popped inside and order two, one chicken and one pork. $14.50 later I was already annoyed. I was expecting a few bucks or at least the ability to buy a couple and get some change back from a ten. Anyway, for that price, I was expecting the best tamale I've ever had. They were terrible. 90% of the tamale was the corn casing which I wouldn't mind but it was like eating chunky dough. The chicken was extremely bland and there was so little inside that I could barely tell what was chicken and what was the casing. To salvage some of the $14.00 plus I just spent, I ripped open the other tamale to eat the insides but it just wasn't good. I took three bites and tossed it. Sorry to judge a place on it's first impression but that's all it takes for me. If it were a rip off and the food was excellent I might try some other things off of the menu but since the food was sub par and the price did not correlate with the quality then that was the first and last time for that joint.

I went here for the first time today, and the food was good. I ordered a carnitas taco salad. The shell had been fried in-store (not the prepackaged baked bowls you get at a place that rhymes with taco-smell-far) . The carnitas was flavorful -- smoky and salty. A lot of meat in the salad which is a plus. The place is sort of a dive, but that doesn't bother me. The only problem I had was that the front door was smarter than me (I pushed when I should have pulled).

  • Zack R.

This just wasn't that good. Maybe I'm too used to americanized stuff, but the chips were poor (tasted a bit stale), the taco soup was a mush without much flavor, and the taco salad was uninspired (meat looked good but had no flavor, no beans). Oh, and the lemonade didn't have flavor either - felt like one lemon in a bucket of water (without sugar, which might be fine if there was more lemon flavor). Go next door to the mediterranean place instead (either right next door for good food or across the street for a more expensive but awesome meal). Oh, and no salsa here by the way. Yes, there is some green salsa-ish sauce in bottles but I was really hoping for a chunky dip + topper.

I'm really shocked at the low reviews. Casa D's is one of my favorite places in the area. I think Chipotle is great and all, but sometimes they really over-season their meat or add WAY too much lime/cilantro, so Casa D's is my stand-by for good, CONSISTENT food. Their hot sauce is nice and spicy with a good "roasty" taste to it and I like that. The only thing that I don't care for is you really have to be on the ball with them if you don't like tomatoes because they will put a GIANT scoop of pico de gallo (or "salsa" as they call it) and it completely ruins the food, turning into a big ,slushy, tomato tube. Seriously, no place that I have seen stores their chicken on their make table filled to the brim with brothy chicken juice. The taste from that is all natural, not covered up with a ton of cilantro and lime.

This place has huge burritos, and the food portions are pretty large too ;] I'm not too picky about my food so I didn't really take heed of the previous comments about this place being bland. Well, it's really, really bland. Usually I get a chorizo burrito at places that offer it, and I could barely taste it here. I guess the prices are reasonable for the size, about $7 for a regular burrito, $10 for a super (after tax) and I consider myself as someone who can eat a lot - the super is huge. Come if you're hungry and not concerned about taste, otherwise there are probably other options around.

Average at best. Not very clean either. Muy expensivo too. I hate to admit it, but Baja Fresh makes a better burrito.

My most memorable experience was the morning after my 28th birthday -- I won't lie, I wasn't in the greatest shape. ;) I had just woken up from my friend's couch, and in serious need of carbs to soak up all the German beer I downed at Feierabend the night before. I walked in with my 2 pals, who were also starving, and stared blankly at the menu. My friends were in better shape than me, so making a choice on what to eat was a no-brainer. Me? I could barely stammer out "Caaarrbbss!" to the kid at the counter. He appeased my need for starch and salt by ladling up a bowl of tortilla soup, then loading it with rice and beans, and guac on top. He might have tossed in extra chips for free. My friends, if you are hung over and in need of salty, life-giving "Mexican" carbohydrates, and happen to be near Bellevue Way, get your fix here. It's probably not that authentic, but it tastes good and is pretty filling. Can't ask for more than that.

Casa D's has seriously been around FOREVER. Unfortunately, the food has never been that good and hasn't ever improved. Worse, it's always been at least $2-3 more than a comparable restaurant for a meal. Just not that rad overall. If you want Mexican and you want it to be better for more reasonable prices, try the place down on Main St. instead.

It's not particularly cheap (that little schmear was not eighty-five cents-worth of guacamole, please). My plain carne asada burrito with guacamole was just under $9. NINE DOLLARS. Totally not worth that. Not even with the handful of chips thrown into my take-away bag. Nine dollars and no horchata. I was ripped off :) It wasn't particularly good food, although it wasn't horrible, either. I've had much better carne asada at a gas station before. This was dried out, but at least he chopped it up enough so that I could swallow the bits whole.

Every time I'm in bellevue I find myself eating here and bringing other friends too! Yeah its a big hole in the wall and the atmosphere is real shady its delicious! I usually just get my food to go and go to the near by park. I find not able to complete a full burrito and I skip on the tortilla chips just because they don't come with salsa. Bottom line, I will be eating here soon!

I've been going to 'tha d' since the place opened 140billion years ago. I always get the same thing (Steak burrito), and it's always good. If I would've reviewed D's a couple of years ago, they would be 4stars, but I have gone on this nearly fanatical trip into the taco truck underground and have seen what a real mexican joint tastes like. I still go here every once and a while, and still enjoy it. Tips from a long-timer: Best meats - Asada/Chorizo - I love the asada here. It's filled with rediculous amounts of garlic flavor. Be warned, regulars are well aware of the 'asada burps' which will follow you for at least 24 hours after eating a burrito. they can kill a moose. -The Chorizo does not add much of a texture to the massive burritos (but has great flavor) so if you go this route, have them put half choirzo and half carnitas in. If you go for the tacos, chorizo is the choice. What to try: If you're a D's newb, do the burritos. There is no other option. A super (or super dooper which is not on the menu) is big enough to feed a family. The Heat: As others have stated, mild has no spice. medium has barely more spice than mild. the hot will melt your face. if you like some spice, but don't like farting fire, get medium and add some tapatio to the burrito on your own. The sides: All meals come with an apple. it's a tradition. it's also a tradition to look at the sad excuses for an apple that they offer you, and wonder how much cheaper your burrito would have been if that wasn't a part of the meal. Eat at your own risk Best way get your D's fix: - come after 2pm. lunch lines can be really long. if you come during lunch, hope that you dont get one of the owners making your burrito (they're the two old guys in a sea of younguns). burritos made by them are at least 1/2 the size of one made by any other worker there. they don't work at night though, so you're guaranteed a gastrointestinal bonanza anytime after 6.

Ah, the consequences of a misspent youth... you're left with a vague memory of something that's way more spectacular than it really is. That my friends is the case with Casa D's. Somehow, I must have had it in my head that this place was actually good. I guess it must have been years of having the munchies and not in the right frame of mind. The best way to put it... it'll do in a pinch. Nothing spectacular and much more painfully filling than one would expect.

It was soooo bad. I think that the Seattle area gets a little too much criticism for its Mexican food. I grew up in Southern California and sure the Mexican food there was much better. But you can still find some good stuff in WA. Just not at Casa D's. Look, the first thing that shocked me at first was that there were "gringos" making my burrito. Its very strange when you think about it because in the restaurant industry most cooks are Latino. If you go to a Chinese, Japanese, Italian, French, or American restaurant there is a really good chance that your food is being made by a Latino person. So why would you have a couple of white frat boys throw my burrito together? The answer apparently is so that they can create the grossest burrito i've ever had in my life.

ah - ok. It was alot of food, dont get me wrong. But something about it seemed a little bland. I dont know if I'm used to eating my families mexican, but it was ok. If you want to eat a lot of food than come here. If you want to eat a good burrito, go to Wapato.

I consider myself a burrito connoisseur... and Casa D's is my home. Fantastic burrito's. Try: Half chicken/half chorizo... add some lime, cilantro, onions and you MUST top it off with thousand island dressing. Mmmmmm.

When you want a cheap meal overflowing with rice, beans and meat on a cheesy tortilla of varying heat - then this is a worthwhile stop. I was peckish today having missed breakfast and working through lunch, so I thought I'd stop in for a taco on the way home - a small snack a couple of hours before dinner. The dude asked me if I wanted "a burito because the taco is hard to eat?" - just wanting a snack, I said "just the taco pleae" - well it was a mean meal in itself. I have to agree that it is hard to eat since it is pretty much overflowing with goodness. I had great chips (fresh and a little salty) and their fabulous lemonade (squeezed fresh daily) and loaded my overflowing taco with their medium salsa and a bit of guac... I am full hours later and will spend very little for dinner tonight!

Been going here for the past 14 years and I'm still a fan. Some people will say the food is bland. That's because we've all become accustomed to over salted food with tons of fat (Chipotle, Qudoba, Taco Del Mar...). The guys season and grill their own meet. The beans are actually vegan in that no animal fat is added to them. The cheese is a mild low fat variety that gets nice and gooey. Be sure to try the Carne Asada. It's grilled every day using good cuts of flank steak. The Pork is killer too. Sauces are great, especially their habanero salsa. If you like things mild, stick to the salsa verde. Also, ask for some onion, cilantro and lime. All together, these toppings make a tasty burrito. The decor needs updating, it's in dire straits. However, they keep the place clean and comfortable. Overall, good spot for lots of tasty food.

The company I work for has a company lunch once a month and I'm in charge of dealing with all the food. A coworker had been once or twice and said he really enjoyed it so we decided to go with it. It made it so easy that they already had their own order form since I had 23 employees to get food for. They had their fax number right on the order form and all the information that I normally have to write out separately such as our company name and phone number was already on the order form ready to be filled out. I had called a few days ahead of time since I had so many people to get food for to make sure it wouldn't be a big deal and Ross was TOTALLY helpful and pleasant to talk to on the phone. The day of I again dealt with Ross when I faxed my order in, he was again very helpful and accommodating. I felt very relaxed about the food being ready after I spoke with him. I went to pick up my food around 11:30 which was a little crazy since it was downtown Bellevue at lunch time. I walked in and my food was all boxed up and ready to go. One of the guys working helped me to my car with the boxes. Everyone I encountered was very friendly. The food got serious thumbs up from all the guys back at my work. Very large portions and good, good food. I had a steak burrito and it was fantastic but there was no way I could finish it. It was way to big. A few of the guys ordered the chili verde bowl and they said it was really good. Lots of meat and flavor. They gave us tons of tortilla chips, bowls, napkins, plates and utensils. All in all it was a great experience and I will for sure go back and I would order for my company again! Be aware though....BIG PORTIONS....you do not need more than one item on the menu. They are BIG.

I work in Bellevue (unfortunately), and this is easily the best burrito spot in town. The burritos are ginormous, like my muscles, and full of all the goodies. The line can get long during the lunch hour, but they're fast. You'll be out the door in less than 5 mins. If you eat like a horse, this spot won't disappoint.

Wasn't blow me out of the water fantastic, but it was pretty decent. The guy asked me if I wanted hot sauce, and he warned me it was hot. It's nice to have a Mexican restaurant that can give you heat rather than dumbing it all down to American taste buds.

In the ever-more-annoying, fake, bullshit, stylized, researched, marketed, lame-ass area known as downtown Bellevue, there is a small hole-in-the-wall Mexican restaurant called Casa D's that is the closest thing to a taco truck that you can find for 10 square miles.

  • gary g.

sorry, casa d's. while you seem like a cool place, with your workers proud of your stuff, you're just another example of bland, washington state mexican food. besides your thick version of tapatio, your salsas are bland. you put hardly any meat in your burritos! for chrissakes, when you charge $9 for a burrito, you can afford to stuff it with meat! your carne asada, well, tastes like garlic flavored ass. i'm so sorry to tell you this, but we won't be coming back. on the lighter side, your carnitas wasn't bad (but it also wasn't really carnitas) and when it was drowned in your weak guacamole, at least i ate it. we threw away our carne asada, needless to say.

Name a better burrito in the greater northwest. NICE TRY. all you hatin ass taco truck riders can suck it..., this place is the pinnacle of burrito heaven, a glorious shrine of freedom and justice in the belly of pretenious bellevue, look past the baja fresh on the corner, fat burger is for losers young man, oooo look at the bright lights, no no no, there lies a grain of golden sand in the bowels of the bellevue money bowl..... I will cry and swear vengeance when this place gets bought out by some condo developer and a Tully's and Quizno's replaces it, I've been eating here for probably 14 years, I get half chorizo half chicken, sour cream with guac a squirt of lime 4 stars of death and a side of pico de gallo, yeah boy, that's that sh*t. I frequently drive from north seattle just to eat here. As far as taquerias go, this place is untouched.

nothing spectacular. (+) prices portions (-) atmosphere chips were salty this place wasn't bad but it sure didn't persuade me to go there again. it's this little shop on bellevue way. the food was pretty normal -- i had a pork burrito --. the guys serving the food seemed not the type to be working there (no points taken off for this) with their white tees, tattoos, and smoke breaks. they have pretty good portions and the burritos come w/ chips (which were a little salty) for about $7.

  • Jesse B.

I got a chicken burrito and it was decent. I come from California where authentic mexican food can be found on any corner. Make sure to take your time ordering and to ask about all the different toppings you can get, cause they don't have it all laid out on a menu. The inside of this place is exactly what you expect. Small, but comfortable. The chips are really salty too...not sure if this is a good or bad thing.

Every visit I've had here the staff is always super friendly. Once I took my friend's child I was babysitting here for dinner, with our dogs, and the man who was working was so nice. He gave us complimentary churros and asked my friend's daughter if she wanted a lollipop. We were sitting outside at one of the tables set up and he would come out, to check up on us and pet the dogs. In my most recent visit I took my little sister here and she wanted a chicken, cheese quesadilla with sour cream. And the cashier only charged us for a cheese quesadilla since a quesadilla with meat was an extra two bucks, which came salsa and guacamole that she did not want. It was really nice of him. When we were sitting outside he came out to check on us, to ask if we needed anything else. The customer service is awesome. This is one of the best places to get a burrito in Bellevue. And it's never crowded. The meat is freshly grilled and when you tell them what toppings you want, they are generous. You never have to ask them to scoop up more. It's also really affordable. If you get a super size burrito, which is the size of two, it's only 14 bucks - and that's with extra meat. It's a good deal and tasty. The quesadilla is good, too. They not only toast the tortilla together after the fold, but they also put it on the grill for an extra char. But, I had the taco salad once and wasn't impressed. The only other negative is that there is only one bathroom in the back and it's really dirty and cluttered. Someday I will try the breakfast burrito, which is served all day.

I've started working near Casa D's so have been going in a bit more often of late. Not much has changed... except the pricing. Let me compare/contrast with Chipotle, which is 2 blocks away: Casa D's Chipotle Ooba's basic burrito $9.50 $6.70-7.40 depending on meat $8.49-10.99 depending on meat interior dated, dark modern decent but very little seating organic no? yes no? portion size XL large large chips incl. Y N Y taste good good excellent consistency moderate high high parking bad bad bad I'm all for supporting local businesses, but the prices have diverged a lot - to pay 42% more is not justified. I will go back on occasion out of nostalgia, but not often.

Let me start off by saying I wanted to give this 5 stars because it was seriously the best damn carne asada burrito I've ever had. The ingredients are incredibly authentic and don't taste anything like the Americanized selections at Chipotle and Q'doba. My girl and I split the super burrito (well...we have a few times now) and it's always the perfect amount of food for a great price to feed 2 people. Only reason I have to take a star off is because everything else you've read about this place is true. It's grimy and small inside. The employees dgaf about customer service. The tortilla chips are downright terrible for the most part. However, at the end of the day what keeps me coming back to any restaurant is the unbelievable food. Casa D's has that. I've never eaten inside only because I live a few blocks away so it's easy to get takeout. I'd recommend that lol.

Since it was rush hour, I decided to stop off in Bellevue for some food. Upon entering this place, it seemed very grungy and dirty. I ordered a burrito, and it was mostly filler. I say 25% meat, 75% lettuce/rice/beans in a giant tortilla. All I could taste was salsa and the lettuce, rice, and beans, no flavor whatsoever. This was not a cheap burrito, either. Overpriced and flavorless. This isn't a place I'd stop by again. I would have rather gone to Chipotle, just up the street.

Gross interior. Surprised this place passes health inspection. Chips are good but burrito was soggy and gross, didn't even finish it. Server was not pleasant either. Bellevue seriously needs a better burrito joint.

A refreshing bit of character for downtown Bellevue. Chipotle's? Meh. You can get that anywhere--and after you get past the over-salted flavor of everything there, the meat's kinda dry and the beans aren't all that. Try Casa D's! Yes, it's a hole-in-the-wall, which is a welcome break from the corporate pristine creepiness of downtown Bellevue. At Casa D's, they grill and roast their meat fresh every morning. Their carnitas is delicious. And come on people, the meat is roasted in its own juices; that's not grease. Yes, sometimes a couple of the workers can be grumpier than the usual Bellevue perky-college-kid-bouncing-Jamba-juice servers. Thank god. I ate here all through my pregnancy and they always ask about my baby when I come in. They remember my regular order. And if the prices are higher than Chipotle's, you're also getting 2x the food and better-tasting food at that. They also have Mexican coke and other glass-bottled sodas. Yay Casa D's!

I was on my way to go to the Mediterranean restaurant next door, but decided to be spontaneous and give this place a try. Worst decision ever! The guy that helped me out had no idea what to do as the other worker was busy planning for an event. He literally had to stop and ask his coworker for each step on how to make a simple taco. It was evident that this was his first time making a Taco. It was flavorless, lukewarm, and inedible. I could barely manage to swallow the first bite. I was very disappointed with this place and will not recommend it to anyone. Also, the dirtiness of this place is enough to make anyone think twice about eating here.

Goodbye to a Bellevue landmark. I'd been a customer of Casa D's for over 20 years. I decided to come back after a few years to satisfy a craving. The first thing I noticed was the place was completely empty at noon, while Garlic Crush next door was packed. It gave me an uneasy feeling, but I went in anyways since I know this place was great. Ordered the carne asada burrito and the first thing I noticed is the meat looked different and the guy making the burrito is having a hard time cutting the meat. When I bite into the burrito the meat is not breaking down. It's not the skirt steak that I'm used to. It's a cheap meat, full of connective tissue that's impossible to chew or swallow. I end up throwing away 3/4 of the buritto because the meat is inedible. This used to be my favorite burrito place when they used skirt steak for their carne asada. Add the fact the prices were jacked up to about $12 with a coke and sadly I don't think I'll be coming back.

I really wanted to like Casa D's: a hole in the wall burrito place in downtown Bellevue?! Awesome. Long story short: horrendously not awesome. First and foremost, this place is FILTHY. Not "greasy spoon" dirty, but "grease everywhere, things piled everywhere, cutting boards coated in old meat grease and food waste" FILTHY. On ordering, we were greeted by an angry and bored looking girl behind the counter. My boyfriend tried to order a side of chili verde with his burrito and was met with a blank stare and "um...I guess?" as though this was a ludicrous request, and she then convinced him to completely change his order, I'm guessing because she didn't feel like sifting through the mess to find something to put the chili in. We got home, burritos soaking the bags through in grease, and attempted to eat these things. In fairness, they're huge. That's about the only thing going for them. The burritos were totally bland, the guacamole, cheese, and salsas tasted like nothing - all you can taste is rice and beans. And the meat? It was dry, hard, burned, and obviously had been sitting in its grease water behind the counter all day, if not longer. My boyfriend (who will eat literally almost anything) finally just spit out the meat because it was so revolting. Needless to say, we did not even remotely finish these disgusting excuses for food. We are NEVER coming back here again. TLDR; awful counter help, extremely dirty, old meat, no flavors. It's a pass.

Got a breakfast burrito and it was $9.75. I found the price pretty shocking. Also, I wasn't terribly fond of the crude rap music blaring from the speaker or the young lady who was the only one working that did not seem very pleased to be there. The burrito itself had a great spicy salsa and came with some of the best tortilla chips I've had. The downside: the chorizo meat inside was so greasy it kept on spilling down the side of the tortilla. And then, for being a breakfast burrito I could barely taste the potatoes or eggs. Pretty confusing. Verdict: hefty price tag for mediocre food. I will not be returning.

I wasn't so excited about this place. The food tasted like it was sitting there for a while and the service was mediocre. I do wish there was more than one Mexican restaurant in Bellevue that had authentic dishes, and this place sadly did not.

Casa D's looks like it should be just the right amount of dirty to make a great Mexican taco joint. Their food preparation to be bordering on unsanitary. The staff seemed interested, the floors were sticky and the tables were dirty. All of which I would have looked past if the food was good. Not sure how this place stays in business- maybe I was just there on an off day.

Casa D's is the staple of burritos. I have been going to Casa D's since 2004 and to this day no burrito has compared. Over the years the only things that have changed slightly is the hot sauce. Which today is a lot more mild nonetheless still just as delicious. Here's what to order: Really hungry get the Super picadillo burrito, rice, beans, one line of hot sauce, one line of the green sauce, cliantro, salt and pepper and you're good to go. Once you sit down Tapatio, and thousand island to taste. Regular hungry just get the normal size burrito. If you haven't stopped in here you need to once. It's more a less a whole in the wall with well marinated meats and authentic taste!

Went here for a late lunch this week and was quite surprised. Had a carnitas burrito which was quite tasty and huge. The guacamole was hideous. Sort of brown. It seemed like a dirty run down building. I'd get the food to go.

a lot of food, lol, but don't feel compelled to eat it all in one sitting. they have a food challenge for their burrito, which sounds kinda' too much to say the least. the guy(s) that works here is super nice. would like a wider assortment of drinks, but they got all the basics.

My boyfriend commented while eating here how Chipotle and other Mexican chain restaurants always have a standard taste that you get tired of after a while. After taking him here for the first time, he thought Casa D's was a breath of fresh air! I heard about it from friends who are die-hard Casa D's dedicated customers, and they always raved about it. So after a few years, I decided to come here for dinner when I couldn't think of anywhere else to go. The place looks dingy, but when the food is delicious... ya don't care! My boyfriend loved that the carne asada was charred and had great flavor. I liked the green sauce a lot. We'll definitely be coming back... soon!

I have been going to Casa D's for more than 18 years. The burritos here are my absolute favorite. The staff is always friendly and the consistency of the Carne asada is excellent. I cannot speak to the other meat selections. However, during my last visit I tried a quesadilla. Mistake. Also, if the owner is working, make sure to get double meat, cause he's light on the meat.

  • D K.

This place is awful. Beans had an odd chemical taste. Rice was mushy and overcooked, but had a hard crust where it had dried out in parts so a weird crunchy, mushy combination. Taco was okay, but watery as they didn't drain the juice from the meat. The tortilla fell apart. And for all this bad food I paid about $9.00. Save your dough and go to nearby Chipotle instead.

These are burritos in the sense that they have common burrito ingredients and are wrapped in a tortilla. They don't taste right, though, and the people who do the assembly can't seem to handle any requested variation in the process. The place is dirty and run down, but at least the owner has a shiny Harley that he parks out front on sunny days.

The Carnitas is pretty good. Nice flavor and good texture. I had the carnitas burrito, and am happy to say that I will return for more. Though I wish they had black beans, used a thicker sour cream and maybe twice as much cheese wouldn't hurt.

  • Ruth R.

Absurdly large and tremendously delicious! Came in with the boyfriend for dinner. He got a carne asada super burrito, and it is truly one of the biggest burritos I've seen. There are also "super duper" and "el Rey" options, which are even larger. I settled for a regular with picadillo, spicy pico de gallo and guacamole, and I loved it. I'll be back soon!

  • shawna g.

The breakfast burrito was huge but that was the only thing going for it. One of the most disgusting things I have had in awhile. As another reviewer described there is virtually no potatoes or eggs inside and the chorizo was super greasy. It also had way too many beans, tasteless salsa and lettuce. The flavor overall was just I edible. Not to mention the shop is questionable for cleanliness and food temperature.

I like Casa D's, I usually go for the Carne Asada Tacos. Meat, cheese, guacamole and hot salsa, it is pretty good. I prefer more spice, I can't tell if it's my Southern California upbringing or if they are really giving me mild and calling it hot. I'm afraid to ask, because in some parts of the country, if you say the hot isn't hot enough, you will be punished with salsa mostly made of habañero juice. That lesson only needs to be had once, it leaves a mark! I'm guessing that they probably don't even keep something that hot on hand, but you never know. I like sitting outside, it's a great place to visit after a nice run if you just want a taco.

I had the chorizo tacos and they were pretty amazing. The chorizo was really delicious and spicy. I wasn't a fan of their tortillas, which kept falling apart, but the stuff they put in the tacos--all delicious!

Do you like natural, unique and unpretentious food? Of course you do. During college I often came here TWICE a day... at least five times a week. Burritos come in huge, ginormous or RIDICULOUS size (1 tortilla, 2 tortilla and 3 tortilla). The standard burrito is about 1/3 or 1/4 larger than a standard Chipotle burrito (barf) with ten times the flavor and more kick ass attitude. The pork is absolutely amazing. I have never gotten anything BUT a burrito, their quesadillas look decent, but I would never go for the nachos. I would also never go for the chicken, but why would you when the pork and steak deliver a fun party time to your taste buds. Don't be an idiot. Pork or Steak Burrito + cheese + rice + beans + cliantro + lime + green salsa.... pico on the side. GAME OVER ASSHOLE.

Yeah, this place is great! The asada super burrito was crazy. Great seasoning. Flavorful steak. Fresh guacamole wasn't too bad. I will say that you should fast before getting at that super burrito. It's a real undertaking.

I have been going here getting the veggie burrito or chicken burrito since 1996. I will probably continue going here until it closes or one of us dies. I LOVE the hot sauce! It is very addictive. One of my favorite things ever! SUPER HOT! I love this place. Simple, basic, burritos the way my middle class suburban raised mouth likes it.

Alright, I might be extremely bias because I've been coming here for over 15 years, so sometimes it feels like a second home to me, but Casa D's is the best. Everyone is correct in saying that it is incredibly divey, and yeah might not be spotless or have beautiful decor, but if that's preventing you from enjoying the food then you're truly missing out. Seriously. Maybe it's just me, but I love that it's a family-run, grungy little hole-in-the-wall amongst all the chains and other perfectly manicured restaurants of downtown Bellevue. I grew up in Arizona, and have lived in LA for the past three years, so I have have a lot of good Mexican food. I'm not a total burrito noob. These are fantastic burritos. Their tortilla soup is also glorious. Awesome salsa verde. And I love that Tapatio is readily available at every table, which is often hard to come by in the Northwest. The owner is a great guy, who always remembers his loyal customers and has a smile for us when we come back. Truly a Bellevue jewel.

I feel so stupid that I waited 4 years to try Casa D's. I always ended up at Garlic Crush next door. Finally went and my wife and I both had 2 carne asada tacos and 2 carnitas. Rice, beans, chips n guac. We loved it all. We are very opinionated when it comes to authentic, good tasting Mexican food. The only complaints we had were the beans. We thought it would have been refried, so we weren't fans. The salsa was very good, perfectly spicy.. but the way they had it set up is questionable. The whole place could use a deep clean it seems but I can say that for a lot of the places I frequent. Negatives aside, we will definitely be coming back for those tacos again. We have 4 years to make up for! Casa D's is in our top 3 Mexican joints in the Seattle area.

Yes, it's inauthentic gringo Mexican food, but it is so good. It seems like this place has been around so long that is was probably as authentic as you could find in Bellevue when it opened. Love me some Super Burrito. Particularly when more hungry than usual, a great place to go. The hot sauce is super hot.

$10 for a bean and rice burrito???? I don't eat meat so I ordered the regular burrito with no meat. I was told it is the same price if you don't get meat. So I got a mushy rice and bean burrito with not so tasty hot sauce for $9.75. To top it off, the young gal was far from friendly. Casa D's will NOT see me again that's for sure.

I'd take a Casa D's burrito over Chipotle anyday. Yes, I do like the antibiotic and slightly more humane approach of Chipotle, but common the place doesn't have a hot sauce that comes even close to being spicy, and their food never registers as authentic. However....Casa D's does. Sometimes. If you like HOT food, ask for their spicy sauce. NOT their hot sauce, but the spicy spicy stuff. It's SOO good but a little goes a long way. I like their meats. Their chicken and carnitas are my fav. The amount you get is always hit or miss, as is the carne asada. Sometimes it's good, sometimes it's eeehhh. My other complaints are, they charge a lot for the tiniest side of salsa, and they don't put enough cheese on their burritos. The chips aren't too tasty, but they're free, so hey grab yourself some greensauce and shut up! You can get a reg burrito for around 8 bucks and it lasts me at least 2 meals. Did I mention this place has been around in Bellevue for a long time? I appreciate the few places that have stayed and that is why I like this place.

I love the food at Casa D's for its flavor and no-nonsense approach. Servings are sizable; the prices are cheap, considering the amount of food you get. I'm a big eater, and I can't even finish the Super Burrito; the Regular-sized burrito is always enough. After reading through the reviews here, I'm perplexed. So many of them say things like "It used to be better." From my perspective - with is tempered by 15 years of eating at Casa D's - I have not seen any change in food or environment. The restaurant is still run by the same family; the food is still as satisfying to me as it was when I first started ordering the carnitas burritos back in 1996. There are pictures and decorations on the walls that were around before Y2K. Granted, the store is a hole in the wall; but the food coming out of that hole is tremendous. Lunch time is almost always busy; I tend to visit before 11:30am or after 6:00pm to get the best service. My personal favorite is the Regular Carnitas Burrito with four drops of heat and lettuce. My wife loves the Grilled Steak Taco. Both regular and fat-free sour cream are available for any order. Recently Casa D's added El Pastor to their menu, and that spicy seasoned meat is slowly becoming my new selection. As always, chips and fruit come with any entree purchase. Casa D's also has great lemonade, and now serves Jarritos soda from their bottle cooler.

One of my favorite lunch spots in Bellevue. Burritos so big you could beat someone to death with it. Fillings are nice, could do with more meat and less beans and rice but its not that disproportionate. I am a huge Carnitas fan so that's the only one I have tried so far. Your mountain of rice, beans and meat can be topped with a number of addons. Pico in hot or mild Cilantro Lime Onions Green sauce Red sauce - home made habanero Sour cream Guacamole My concoction is usually, little Pico (hot); cilantro; lime; green sauce, red sauce (4 star) and sour cream. I have never eaten more than half a super during lunch and taken the rest home for dinner. All are served with chips, made at the restaurant.

Best chicken burrito around. Super fresh and hot and the Super size is sure to leave you stuffed for under $10. Lacks ambiance, but its about the burrito really not the tables and chairs. In and out, stuffed and smiling...

  • Bart H.

I like Chipolte too, but Casa D's has that certain subtle je ne sais quoi. Maybe its the unapologetic use of two large flour tortilla for the super. Bringing gross weight to well over 2 lbs. And, leaving room for customer growth and aspiration - the super double. Carefully architected using three (three!) large flour tortillas, this will Not fit in the standard burrito basket. They have to put two together. I hope you don't leave this review thinking its raw poundage that makes the difference. It's the attitude that allows for it that provides gravitas. Casa D's Bellevue. Nice work.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
