I have to say this is a new restaurant that opened yesterday, and so I realize that there are growing pains with any new establishment that said...here goes....I went there for a quick lunch, while we are out running around in preparation for the 4th of July. The decor is nice, the wait staff was very friendly and kept us informed as to when our food would arrive. I had the chopped salad, and my mom had the basically the grilled ham and cheese sandwich (I forgot what it was called, I just checked their website to confirm the name - menus not posted yet - another growing pain) Let me start with the Chopped Salad, the mixed greens with salami, bacon, olives, cherry tomatoes, and think there was some cheese and egg, and a house dressing, had a wonderful taste. Now for the constructive criticism. I felt what was presented was about $3.00 above what the price point should have been, the portion size was too small for 11 price point. There was an abundance of the radichio and lettuce, however when it came to all other items (with the exception of the cherry tomatoes) the amount used was miniscule. I hate to say this, but it felt like an overpriced side dinner salad. My one extreme criticism was the croutons.... either make your own (and make them well) or leave them out, what was on the plate were flat out unpalatable. Now for the grilled ham and cheese sandwich (damm I wish your website had the menus loaded to give this sandwich justice)... The grilled sandwich was exceptional, It is a grilled ham and swiss with a béchamel sauce inside, and the nice kicker was the salamander-ed (broiled) crunch cheese on top, This sandwich is a rock star!!! It was ordered with a side salad, my criticism here is stick with a spinach green, and leave the rocket green out, either the balance with spinach to rocket green was off, or just not a complete awareness, you really have to be a rocket green to appreciate the bitterness of this green. We did notice that the kitchen is in growing pains, and did see other diners waiting for their food. I will definitely come back in the next week or so and see if some of these new restaurant kinks are worked out, because Belfair is in sore need for an establishment like this. This place has the potential to be a go-to place.
I went here with hope for a good restaurant on belfair but found that hope was shot dead upon entering the door. I do understand that they just opened but it wasn't even busy and it took an hour to get 2 burgers and a fish taco. The price for a burger with fries was 10 bucks and sad to say mcdonalds has them beat on taste in the burger business the burger here was just bland with no flavor. Getting some katsup took asking the wait staff twice and then i dont know what kind of katsup they use but it sucks. Fish tacos and fries 11 bucks my price value 5 bucks if it had tasted good which it didn't. I'm pretty sure that the union river grill will meet the same fate as most other new restaurants in belfair, boarded up and gone in 8 - 12 months.
